Ludacris doesn't pull out any real surprises here, but he also wouldn't have lasted this long if he didn't have a talent for consistency. What's missing here are big singles. His first attempt, "Money Maker," was too color-by-numbers. There's nothing on Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm pleased--best album since chicken & beer
I think Luda is awesome. This album has tight lyrics. My favorite songs are money maker, mouths to feed (this song is the bomb!), slap, and girls gone wild.

4-0 out of 5 stars "Luda Had A Serious Moment"
When you think of Ludacris...you think...lyrical...out spoken...and a straight fool. Luda's previous Albums have been quite entertaining. And I notice a lot of people have wrote reviews saying this is his worse album. My question is... why? Because he decided to have a serious moment. This album shows his maturity and shows that he is not afraid to have "A serious moment". Luda is still talented whether you feel this or not. The man still has a way with words. If you are a true Ludacris fan then you will purchase this and like it...Damn it!...lol
1-0 out of 5 stars This is ridiculous...and ludicrous, too....
P's and H's..."ho" hum....what a concept....waste, waste, waste.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE ROOTS CREW
Yo the roots come sick wit it again! The title track ranks among thier best ever. The first 5 songs are all fya. Questlove, though the human beat machine breaks off some crisp beats. He alternates between electric and traditional sets. There is nothing as jazzy as "one shine", "what they do", or "break you off". Progessive hip hop/rock comes alive on title track (my fav). "Here I come" is another dope track. The keyboard guitar and bass breath 2gether on this album. This is truly one of the few hip-hop concept albums. G.T. is bold, thick, daring, melodic yet heavy. Though it ain't classic The Roots lived up to the wait of this album. I wish they got mo props and pub. They deserve it. They signed to Def Jam and went more underground. F^CK JAY-Z!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT DONT FEEL RIGHT SUPPORT THE ROOTS One.

5-0 out of 5 stars CD Review: The Roots - Game Theory
I don't know what took me so long to review this CD, but here it is.
5-0 out of 5 stars Game Theory
All, I have to say is wow.Who would have thought The Roots would have grown into mighty musicians. They are a movement and if you are just catching on, then you need to go spend the $200 on released material, white labels, mixtapes, concert tapes and DVDs.The Roots have always delivered the right music for the right moment.Somehow, they have never been able to escape the realm of the backpackers. After signing with Def Jam under the Jay dynasty, I was hoping Def Jam's massive marketing machine would send them skyrocketing into mainstream music success.

5-0 out of 5 stars MUCH Better Than The First
Now I loved his first one don't get me wrong, but I think this is by far so so much better, its more mature sounds and you can really tell he has grown a lot since his first cd, Now I am not a fan of all the G-Unit crew only Lloyd and Buck are my favorites, but I got to give it up to Dre and Eminem and even 50 for doing their job on this one, its hot, You should get it if you like rap music not just cause your a fan of G-unit its sooooo good and if your a fan of his GO SUPPORT IT!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst CD In A Long Time
If you like real rap, not bubble gum rap, DO NOT buy this. It's horrible. I thought that Hunger for More was really good, but this flat out sucked. There was not one good track. A good rapper turned bad by the likes of 50 Cent.

3-0 out of 5 stars What happened to that boy ?
Alright, so Lloyd Banks is the G-UNIT official NY lyricist, but NY rappers sophomore albums don't usually live up to the hype. Well, well, well, ain't no surprise here, the punch lines are here, $.50 is here, the sung hooks and the gansta mantra too.

4-0 out of 5 stars One ingredient missing in an otherwise perfect stew
Where do you go after Aquemini, an album that had it all. Witty Lyricism, Social commentary, rich music and an undeniable chemistry between two clearly different personalities. For most artist, nowhere, but these cats were able to take it one step further with Stankonia which added pop appeal to the mix while continuing to push further musically (B.O.B). Surely they couldn't take it further than Stankonia but with Speakerboxx/Love Below they did just that. This time they highlighting the multiple personalities that the group has. Allowing Andre 3000 to really do his thing.
4-0 out of 5 stars [3.5]--Nope I'm not bored Big Boi...............I'm not Bored.
I've been listening to this album on and off for the past week and a half and in my opinion, this album is really good. I've always admired Outkast's originality: their music never sounds like anything anyone else has made or is making. "Idlewild", the musical companion to their movie of the same name, is no different but not as good as Speakerboxx/The Love Below. But it is still a very good album due to its style and funk. Dre and Big Boi only share about 3 songs in the whole album, and those 3 songs are amazing.
5-0 out of 5 stars Innovative
Outkast is the best. This is what rap needs more of. They don't talk about what they got and brag about their struggles feeling sorry for themselves, they just rap, and rap good. I like how they modernize the old blues style beats and make them good... it's like a new style of music kinda and it's tight. Outkast better win some awards for this. I definately recomend this to anyone who appriciates real rappers and rap as a form of art. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Outsider inside out or outside in?
Stop the hating, folks! Just because the record doesn't match your preconceived notions of what you think the artist should do, doesn't mean you should lash out. Think of all the great musicians and other artists who were pilloried in their day for branching out in a new direction - only to have history vindicate their efforts! Think about it!

1-0 out of 5 stars pure rubbish...
I've been a fan of Dj Shadow from the very first album, and have followed him since then. I was super excited to see a new release from him, but upon seeing a few bad reviews, I had to investigate for myself. I sampled each track intently waiting for that wonderfully eclectic sound that Dj Shadow is so famous for... however I was never satisfied. This cd reminds me of a mix you might be handed after a rap concert. Its not worth going into analyzing each track, because its simply a waste of time. My only side 'comment' is that Dj Shadow has been in the game for so long that he probably tried something different, and it failed...just be patient and wait for the next (hopefully better) release.

4-0 out of 5 stars So it's not earlier Shadow...it's still a fine album
This album is quite a bit heavier with guest Hip Hop appearances than any of Shadow's previous work. I believe that explains all the negative reviews. Some Shadow fans simply aren't Hip Hop fans...sad as that may be (Q Tip was quite the nice suprise on this one). Those seeking the tripped out days of Entroducing won't find it here. That said, I still enjoy the hell out of this album. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is that it didn't get me going quite enough for an immediate repeat listen; with the exception being Track 10...good stuff right there. My recommendation, take a sample listen to the tracks. Too "Hip Hop" for you?....then walk on, but I doubt that'll be the case. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great CD...
When I first listened to the CD, I didn't love it because the lyrics weren't as deep as I expected. However, this is still a great CD as far as the music and overall quality. You can pop it in and let the whole thing play out.If you are a mainstream hip hop lover, it may take you a while to really feel this CD.But if you have any "hood" in you, you'll love this CD!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Alright Debut
I had a lot of hype for this album and could not wait till it hit stores and the day it came out I purchased it at Best Buy. Anyways I went home and started listening to it and I thought it was okay. I thought he would have better lyrics but the production saves this album from being a disappointment. The singles are great and some of the other songs are good or okay and the rest is just filler. I only recommend this to fans of down south rap or fans of Rick Ross because this album is below par. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Young Dro Is The Best Thing Smokin!!!!!
This cd is hot I listen to this more than TI.Young Dro gone be here for a minute because he is on fire. This cd is full of bangers if you a true down south fan this cd is for you!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars For A Fresh Start This Album Rock's.........
T.I. foresaw his future. He knew he would ascend to kingship in the South. When he achieved a comfortable status in Southern hierarchy, he knew he would have the ability and influence to put his brethren on, his fellow Grand Hustle members. The time has come and his protégé Young Dro now has to stand on his own two and will attempt to do so with his debut album, 'Best Thang Smokin'.
4-0 out of 5 stars Banging but...
This album is banging and off the hook but the only flaws is that he has the same flow and rhythm as T.I., except that he is more lyrically intellectual and has more catchy phrases. T.I. rocks more but Dro is up and coming.... ... Read more

Editorial Review

An indispensable and definitive collection showcasing the passionate genius of the late rapper. The album's nonchronological sequence highlights the contradictory impulses that made Tupac's music so commanding; the 21 well-loved "hits," some slightly reedited for legal reasons, are accompanied by four previously unheard songs. Of the new material, the raw-sounding "God Bless the Dead" has been the subject of the most speculation, owing to its subject matter: a eulogizing of the late Notorious B.I.G.--a mysterious feat, since Tupac was killed six months before Biggie. And, making its first proper appearance on a Tupac album, the B-side "Hit 'Em Up" stands as the most intense outburst of pure venomous rage ever captured on tape. Whether he's waxing political, philosophical, or just plain paranoid, Tupac's empathetic, charismatic style remains unmatched. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Crown Jewel from Rap History...
Disc One:
5-0 out of 5 stars Masterpiece from Top To Bottom
Look, their isn't much explanation needed for the greatest hits from the greatest rapper. Its just pure classic. All the way through it's nothing but Pac at his pinnacle. Though it wouldn't have been a bad idea to add in other of his greats such as Only God Can Judge and Staring Through My Rearview. The albums still handsdown a treasure.
4-0 out of 5 stars The best of a man on Death Row.
I won't call this a perfect collection, but it is the best of his Death Row albums, and 25 great rap tracks. Even if this was all 2pac released, you've got to give him the respect as being one of the greats. He can get hardcore on one track, and loving on the next. A third of this collection is from "All Eyez On Me", which might be justified since it was a double-disc and one of the best albums I've ever heard. Plus we get essential tracks like "Keep Ya Head Up", "Hit 'em Up", "Dear Mama", and the excellent "Changes". There's a few other new tracks here as well. If you're looking for your first or only 2pac disc, this is obviously it. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars CD Review: Method Man - 4:21... The Day After
If you mention Method Man, you usually get one of two reactions. Either (A): He's one of the illest MC's around or (B) He fell off after Tical. Choosing between the two, I would have to go with (A) although he definitely hasn't put out anything close to the quality of Tical (or as the white girl in Strawberries called it "Tickle" haha, remember that Pimp?) and I definitely prefer Redman over his partner in rhyme.
5-0 out of 5 stars Career Defining Album - A Must Have,
This is the type of album most artists are trying and hoping to make for their whole career. Every facet of hip hop music is represented well here, meth flexes his lyrical muscle and demonstrates his versitility on solulful concious tracks, grimey tracks, and straight up bangers.
2-0 out of 5 stars Johnny Blaze, a lot of damn things changed.
Mr. Mef will always have a very soft-spot in my heart. As a hardcore Clan head, Meth has always been one of my favorite rappers in the game, with his gruff, but smooth delivery, and rhymes so witty, you'd press "Rewind" every ten seconds. The P-A-N-T-Y-R-A-I-D-E-R made a name for himself in Enter The Wu-Tang, and he followed up his amazing performance there with the first Clan solo album, Tical.

3-0 out of 5 stars Keep drinkin' Obie
Obie Trice speaks the truth when he asserts, "Nigga I'm violent," on the aptly titled "Violent". Or, to be more specific, Second Round's On Me (Shady/Interscope) serves as a violent soundtrack to his turbulent past and present. Though the Hip-Hop world was eager to embrace yet another uniquely clever album from the honorable D12 member, Obie Trice. Produced and mixed mostly by Eminem, Obie's highly anticipated sophomore project overdoses on cynicism.
5-0 out of 5 stars Love It
Obie is a great rapper from Detriot and his sophomore album is no joke it is hard as hell and worth every penny you pay. I love the first single "Snitch" which a great collabration w/Akon and it has a great hook. Obie has a lot of personal songs on here and that is a step-up from the commercialized debut but that is my opinion I seen the other reviews and they think it is corny. Anyways this is a great album and if you are a rap fan than this is your album. BUY IT!

3-0 out of 5 stars the cd is ok
nothing great here must say it sounds a little better than year of the dog but not as good as the day after. to be honest i'm just so bored with 50, em & trice the whole crew it's just so comercial now nothing diffrent than pink. i didn't buy this cd a friend gave it to me, i don't think it was worth his effort trying to sell it. it's not that bad but once you heard the day after evrything seems weak that's out at the moment. ... At a time when experimentation is taboo in most overground rap, that’s all Outkast seem intent on executing. 4-0 out of 5 stars Awesome
Its not perfect, but close to it. All of the songs are great except maybe the "Something about Mary" song. The shoutouts are sort of a distraction, but it is touching that he took that amount of time on his album to do them. Other than that everything else is good. The songs are catchy and the hooks are cool as hell. Check it out if you like SPM, or even if you don't. It's a good hip-hop album. It's dark, and well done. Get it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Its worth buying!
This album is is well worth buying, especially if your a true SPM fan. The thing I love most about the album is he poured his heart out. Its not all about rims and hoes on this album, its more about real life things. PLUS** its a double disc. Michael Watts chopps up the second disc and does a good job. Out of 15 songs I think about 8 are fire!
3-0 out of 5 stars its ok
i like the actual songs but like that poem song and the shoutsouts need to be taken off ... Read more

Editorial Review

We all know that Ice Cube, founding member of NWA and former "hardcore gangster rapper," performs in family-friendly fluff comedy flicks aimed at the most mainstream of family audiences, but no one with any sense cuts him serious flack for that. Not only are the Read more

Ice Cube - Laugh Now, Cry Later (Lench Mob, 2006)
4-0 out of 5 stars Perhaps we will laugh now, and cry later..
If we take this album's title seriously, it could be eerily prophetic in testing how this album fares against time. While it's a solid, and consistent album from a legend we thought was far past his prime, one has to wonder if it can withstand the passage of time, and still remain dope within the next decade.
3-0 out of 5 stars Close butno cigar!
Standout tracks: WHY WE THUGS, CHILD SUPPORT(of course!), GROWIN UP, THE N---A TRAP, STOP SNITCHING, GO TO CHURCH(minus Lil Jon), CLICK CLACK GET BACK, SMOKE SOME WEED, etc. Filler: Doin what it pose 2do, The game lord, Chrome and Paint, Steal the show, You gotta lotta that(The most boring collabo this side of Puffy!), Spittin pollaseed(WTF is that?)and Holla @ cha boy. The main point is this is not the same Ice Cube that used to scare the panties off of mainstream america. You have to pick up every album prior to the War and Peace albums to hear that Ice Cube. This album is a nice companion piece compared to his early works. But as flawed as this album is its one of the highlight albums of 2006. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars 2 much of Jazze Pha
Is it me, or is Jazze Pha on every other song?
4-0 out of 5 stars too short keeps the pimp status
This album is classic Too Short. It was recorded in Atlanta, GA, and you can definitely hear it in the track production.Lil Jon and Jazzy Pha are the two main producers on this album.I wish Too Short would have expanded the list of producers, but still a very good album if you're a Too Short fan.My favorite track has to be "Baller" w/David Banner or "16 Hoes" w/Jazzy Pha and Bun B.All around great Too Short album.

4-0 out of 5 stars Too Short Album 16
Bay area rap legend Too Short is back with his latest studio album Blow The Whistle. The rapper's 16th album was released by Short Records and Jive Records. The CD was executive produced by Too $hort and Lil Jon. The first single "Blow The Whistle" proved that $hort still has what it takes to make a hit. He is also featured on the Kelis single "Bossy." "Bossy" is featured on her album, not Too Short. Short enlisted A list artists to appear on his album. Guest artists on Blow The Whistle include Snoop Dogg, Will.I.Am, Pimp C, Rick Ross, Jazze Pha, Bun B, David Banner, Kurrupt, Daz, E-40, Dolla Will, and Mr. Fab.

5-0 out of 5 stars ALL EYES ON PAC
2pac is one of the most influencial artists of all time cop this album will always be a classic

5-0 out of 5 stars This cd really gets your blood boiling............
Having been released from prison just months earlier, Pac dropped one of the most anticipated rap albums in history and does not disappoint. For this brief period while he was alive, Pac really was untouchable. With renewed vigor and vengence, Pac took his lyrical assault with foes and the authorities to another level. The joint starts off with Ambitions of a Rider produced by Daz, which is probably one the most hardest first songs on a album ever. The cd just bangs till the end. Fav's are All about you, Got my Mind Made up, Picture me rollin, Thug Passion, Check Out Time, Cant See Me, California Love and All Eyez on me.

5-0 out of 5 stars 10 YEARS ALREADY!!!
This album is probably the best album ever layed down in the history of rap. It is a timeless classic and will never be forgotten just like the player himself. He died ten years ago tommorrow, but it seems like just yesterday.

1-0 out of 5 stars Well Done China!
Does Jay-Z's 'music' have any merit? This question was thankfully answered for us all by the Communist Chinese government recently, when they denied him permission to perform a concert in Shanghai. The reason for this was because his music contains too many "profane references" and "vulgar language." No surpise there.
4-0 out of 5 stars Chris Rock said hip hop is hard to defend these days.
He's spot on.
2-0 out of 5 stars The Guy who could have been Good
Well this is the way it has been ever since after Jay Z's classic album Reasonable Doubt. A bunch of empty fluff lyrics recited over well produced tracks. If you want to dance then this album is cool, but if you want lyrical content go somewhere else. The track "Lucifer" was an exception, dosen't even sound like the same guy responsible for garbage like "Dirt on your Shoulder" wrote that. The track "Threat" was also ok. I'm going to give it two stars; One for the production, and one for the track "Lucifer". ... Read more
