5-0 out of 5 stars "NUMBER ONES" REALLY ARE!
Michael Jackson is still #1 to a lot of music lovers, and "NUMBER ONES" quickly shows you why! His vocal versatility and unique creativity cannot be denied. This CD has something for everyone, and "One More Chance" is at the top of the list. Jackson faves like "Billie Jean," "Black or White," "You Are Not Alone," "The Earth Song," and "You Rock My World" are also included for good measure, and this Michael Jackson effort may be one of his very best yet. Buy it; you'll be glad you did!

1-0 out of 5 stars Curse Epic and Tommy M
First, before I rip this album a new one I must say that I am a huge Michael Jackson fan/supporter and IF YOU WANT HIS GREATEST HITS YOU HAVE TO BUY ALL HIS ALBUMS :).Number Ones is a pathetic greatest hits collection. Most of the songs on here are cut short.Example: You Are Not Alone starts out with MJ singing on the first note which he does not do on the album version and it fades out way early. One More Chance (the only new song) is the worst song R. Kelly has written for Michael. It's not a bad song, but R. Kelly should have kept it to himself.Michael should have submitted one of his own songs.R. Kelly can write better songs, just look at Cry or You Are Not Alone. One More Chance has a one line chorus and it sounds like it belongs on an R. Kelly record.Another problem with this record is the name Number Ones. Most of these songs didn't make it to number one, in fact many didn't even crack the top 10.If you own all of the albums and you want the song one more chance, just buy the single.I own both, but most people shouldn't bother unless they care about a complete collection. This collection is a weak display of MJ's amazing talent. It basically contains radio versions of his songs so they can put more on the cd.I love michael and know that he is innocent.I can't wait for his new album.I think MJ released this just to fullfil his record contract. Now he can be free and actually get promoted :).

4-0 out of 5 stars A Superb Collection From The No.1 King Of Pop!
As the first few weeks of 2004 are upon us, and I'm sure Michael Jackson will be hoping that this year will bring him better luck than 2003 did. Despite dominating the tabloids with his appearance, the baby-dangling incident and THAT Martin Bashir interview, Michael Jackson still remains the King of Pop. There's some people who are famous. There are some people who are superstars. There are some people who are icons - and then there's Michael Jackson. Arguably the most famous entertainer alive, Jackson's 30 years reign on the charts is unchallenged.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Happy
I bought this CD to listen to "A Song for Mama".My fiance was thinking of using it for his mother/song dance. We decided on another song but I am still happy that we purchased the CD.I don't own much R&B so it will add to my collection.

2-0 out of 5 stars This CD Is Just Whatever
Boy II Men were extremely hot back in the day and I always wondered why. I tried to give them a chance by getting their "II" album, but I just couldn't get into them. They had a few good songs out, but, other than that, their music was quite lame. Not enough soul and not enough funk. They never got down and dirty. You get tired of the harmonizing because it's done all the time. None of these guys were attractive either. They just weren't, especially the one with the glasses who sang like he had a bunch of snot up his nose.My friends and I used to look at pictures of the group and they would say, "Yeah, that one's cute, that one's cute, this one is foooiine!" I just couldn't see the attractiveness anywhere. Their looks were mediocre and so was the music. "I'll Make Love To You" and "One Sweet Day" have to be the worse songs ever. I heard both of them on the radio the other day and it made me sick to the stomach. These guys are long gone, but thousands of other sorry guy groups of sprung up to replace them.

1-0 out of 5 stars This isn't what I had hoped for.
I bought this c.d. because I like the song "Nobody" and it was the only good song on here. I read other reviews about how good this c.d. is and it is actually a waste but that is okay. There is only about 2 songs on there worth listening to so if you plan to buy it, I suggest you listen to the samples first. -heather-

4-0 out of 5 stars Definately The King Of Pop
One should never judge the accomplishments made by an artist based solely on what one reads and sees in the news. How many singers can honestly say they have been in the spotlight for 3 decades?Very few can and are around to tell about it.It is unfortunate that many celebrities are tarnished by their lifestyles but at the same time these people have left a mark on world-wide culture.Michael Jackson is one such artist.Beginning in his youth in the 70s, MJ has gone from child performer to adult superstar.Few people over the age of 30 can deny that they have never heard of the greatest selling album of all time in the world : Michael Jackson's "Thriller".No fewer than 9 of the 11 tracks on the album were hits in the early 80s.Although his future albums never reached the awesome success seen by Thriller, no one can deny the genius in many of Jackson's recordings. The Essential Michael Jackson presents just enough of MJ's hits (everything from the J5 to little known songs from the recent past) to satisfy any fan. However, Say Say Say (a duet MJ had with Paul McCartney) is sorely missing. I have never even run across the album the song was originally released on.Although we may never again see a resurgence of Michael Jackson mania, listeners can relive what are fabulous songs by a gifted entertainer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Compilation!
Greatest Hits albums are always difficult to rate.Realistically, no compilation will ever be able to gather every last "hit" from a particular artist, and "The Essential Michael Jackson" is no exception. And despite its (very few) limitations, "Essential" does an A+ job.
5-0 out of 5 stars Let Michael Jackson touch you.
The man just keeps making magic, and with this album he manages to do it once more. Michael Jackson has always touched me in a special way, in a special place. And I'm pretty sure he's touched many people in the same way. This guy's gonna be big some day- I just know it! His music just keeps climbing the charts. One time I farted in an elevator. First off, I'd like to thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to let me talk to you about the sixties. You make me feel... very, very special. [take 2 tablets with food for voices in head]. And might I say what a lovely tie you're wearing, Mrs. Crabtree? [...call the police...] For the love of God, just do what they say!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Looking Set!
First, before I get into this set, let me say that the previous reviewer has a right to his opinion. That being said, THIS IS A REVIEW OF A PRODUCT, NOT A PERSONAL ATTACK FORUM!
5-0 out of 5 stars Michael Jackson's "The Ultimate Collection"
This is a dazzling collection of Michael's work from the early years to recent times. It has many famous songs as well as a few songs less widely known but nevertheless wonderful. The variety of the songs keeps you wanting to hear each track after the other. These songs are definitely catchy and usually have a tendency to get stuck in your head. There are songs of all types from the sweet "Rock With You" to the ever classic "Thriller".
4-0 out of 5 stars FUNTASTIC
The Ultimate Collection is not quite the Ultimate Collection of all time, but that would have required many more discs. All the familiar tracks are here plus some rare demos and that great 1992 concert on the fifth disc which is a DVD. To be honest I would have prefered a concert from The Bad Tour for the DVD not The Dangerous Tour. The over-released songs like Billie Jean and Bad are almost irrelevant as most fans have a number of these songs on different versions and DVDs (I have the same Thriller Video on 3 different DVDs). More focus on rare remixes would have been better, and another disc could have been included with just remixes that are out of print. This is a great Box Set but could have been a lot better. The Concert is great in stereo but unfortunately features far too many shots of the crowd which really distracts from the stage show and cuts up the dancing. Fortunately the crowd shots lessen as the concert progresses. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Jade to the Max
This group was at the forefront of the reinvigoration of the "girl group" and this, their debut was fantastic. Outstanding "new jill" r&b mixed with two outstanding remakes of classic songs by another outstanding r&b trio, The Emotions pushed this album to gold status.

OH wow. This was my group back in the day. I loved Dont walk a way! Even though the radio played it every two seconds. I wanna love you was also my jam, and one woman and do right and don't ask my neighbor was also good. Wow the whole cd is good. What a rarity now a days. Jade is missed!

I believe this was one of the best albums of 1992.Don't Walk Away, I Wanna Love You, One Woman, and Looking for Mr. Do Right, were songs Urban radio kept in heavy rotation, (Radio and Records Magazines, year of 1992 and 1993).The slow songs on this album, as well as the uptempo songs are nice. And besides that, these ladies are nice to look at......... ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Repeat
In Boyz II Men's sophomore album, II, they make attempts to create their own identities with writing and producing this time around escaping producer Dallas Austin and founder Michael Bivins. This LP begins with the deepest of gratitude on "Thank You" produced by the group and Dallas Austin. Both "All Around The World" and "U Know" are mid-tempo tracks with a hip-hop flavor to them, but neither of the two is strikingly memorable or highlights. One thing they do is provide another angle for Boyz II Men.For a more relaxing environment, "Vibin'" has a rather simple instrumentation, lyrics and vocals."I Sit Away" is a hidden gem with a mid-tempo flow with soothing lyrics written by Tony Rich and production by veteran L.A. Reid and Tony Rich.Stepping into a more modern jazz feel "Jezzebel" strengthen the groups range and abilities as the album is nearing a completed overall goal.Over a piano solo, Boyz II Men harmonize on "Khilil (Interlude)" to shift the gears down to their overpowering abilities to formulate ballads that begins with "Trying Times" written and produced by Wanya Morris, Tim Kelley & Bob Robinson.Hit maker Babyface lends a hand on two of the thirteen track album with smash singles and highlights "I'll Make Love To You" and "Water Runs Dry".Heavyweights Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis add a touch of love and mood setting material on "On Bended Knee"."50 Candles" drives this album to epic proportions with its thriving bass and lyrical content "...feels like one of those nights..."They show and prove why for their time there are no other male groups that can compare to their beautiful harmony and range as on "Yesterday" they perform accapella. If real talent that you seek, members Shawn, Michael, Nathan and Wanya has uncompromising talent for any age, era, or time that you can enjoy for long time.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great album from 90s best selling group
Boyz II Men's album II has long since gone diamond, making any review I write of it a moot point. However, for the sake of completeness, it's going to be reviewed.

5-0 out of 5 stars R. Kelly's best album.
STOP HATING ON R. KELLY!!! He achieved a lot during his prime for you so-called R. Kelly fans to back stab him like that just for that sex scandal that probably wasn't true. Stop hating, stop lying, and shut yor f'n mouths for good.

5-0 out of 5 stars The most amazing R&B album ever made
The title says it all. Genius at work.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Album that Made Him a Star
12 play was R. Kelly's first real solo album unless we count "Born into the '90s" with Public Announcement that pretty much was R. Kelly's affair all the way, but on 12 play it get's more evident that R. Kelly is the man behind the music and he sings what he wants to, the new jack swing is mostly gone and the main theme is smooth midtempo's with a theme about sex. infact it's one of the most sexual albums since Prince. Quite a few songs still feauture a guest rapper but it doesn't take away anything from him on the musical side, here he proves that he's a musical genius and that he's here to stay. Say what you want about him, but The production here is a class of it's own.

1-0 out of 5 stars WORST cd EVER-it is rock bottom
this is the worst michael jackson cd and worst CD EVER-although everyone in every music channel had critisize this cd as the worst i just listened it and had to add my criticism too-it is the lowest of the low collection-when the collection itself(cd1) is good but all its songs are already in previous better albums, and cd2 which is the new material and the slbum itself-IS BORING,SUCKS and the only good song in it is SCREAM.SCREAM is the highlight song of this album and is the only reason i bought it-i have never heard this song on radio or saw the video on tv when it was released in 1995-i heard some review in mtv show about michael jackson career-that this song was barely played on radio cause its too noisey , a collection of BLOWING EARS beats-this song never topped the charts and even janet jackson couldnt rescue it.BUT I LOVE THIS SONG cause its a special song with special sound effects i have never heard in any song.im amazed how michael jackson and the producers thought about this amazing sound effects-and the video is amazing too and i heard in that mtv show that it was very expensive to make.but this song really not worth to buy a whole album just to have it-u should get this song in other ways just cause its a special original song that the 90's gave to the pop colture.this album is LOW OF THE LOWS and michael jackson hit rock bottom with this album and with his life at this years this album came out-overall michael jackson reached to a climax only in 1984 with thriller and he could never restore this success with his later albums-his sells only went down and he really doesnt know how to reinvent himself-unlike his sister janet and unlike the greatest MADONNA who always walk one step ahead of the public music taste.michael jackson go only down in failure road-with this album and his later albums-DONT WASTE MONEY ON THIS ALBUM OR ANY OTHER ALBUMS THAT CAME AFTER THRILLER AND BAD-cause michael jackson music boring and doesnt get updated. i dont know how viewers can give this album 4 or 5 stars-i would give it one big ZERO.

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than you might expect.
My only real complaint with the first disc is the exclusion of Dirty Diana, Smooth Criminal and Give In To Me.Other than that, it is definitely a fine collection.
3-0 out of 5 stars HIStory screams just slightly above average.....
HIStory is Michael Jackson's attempt to "stick it to the man".

Editorial Review

Once En Vogue proved that old-fashioned gospel-soul female harmonies could create sparks with modern street beats, every record company went looking for young singers to hook up with new-jack-swing producers. Those efforts bear fruit with SWV, which stands for Sisters with Voices, and the three teenaged singers from New York really do have great pipes, capable of a distinctive sound that can dominate a production rather than the other way around. Cheryl "Coko" Gordon, the trio's lead singer, boasts a great range that allows her to sound tough and sultry in her gritty alto, and romantic and flirty in her trilling soprano.SWV's debut album includes 13 different songs, plus two alternate mixes, and the best tracks are the 10 written and produced by Brian Alexander Morgan, who knows how to create the melodies that all great harmonies must start with. The first single, "Right Here," features a very funky, push-and-pull rhythm track, but the three singers reclaim the song with harmonies that are very percussive themselves but with lots of melody and romantic personality as well. The single, "Weak," is a ballad that allows Gordon to confess her infatuated weakness without ever sounding like a weakling as she hits the beats confidently and purrs in anticipation. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the stand-out albums of the 1990s girl group invasion!
"It's About Time" takes me back to my young days, as a pre-teen.I remember well, listening to tracks on this album, on our local R&B radio station. What made SWV stand out, as a trio, was their great ability to blend different voice types together. They all had lower voices, but Coco, in particular, demonstrated her command of her lovely alto range. This is heard especially on tracks like "I'm So Into You" (with the infectious hook, and catchy melody) and "Weak" (which was later covered by that teen pop star, JoJo---their version is FAR superior to hers, by leaps and bounds). My favorite cut is "Right Here (Human Nature Remix)."This combines a sample of "Human Nature" by Michael Jackson, with their lovely vocals.
3-0 out of 5 stars honest
Who doesn't remember 'weak'? This girl group was very good, I don't know why they broke up but they were good.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's About Time For Them To Make A Comeback
I got "It's About Time" as soon as it came out. SWV were very hot back in the day and I'm glad that they faded away gracefully without selling out. What I liked about these three young women was that they were very talented and they didn't change their style for anybody. Then again, that was the early 1990s and you still had a lot of good music out back then as opposed to now. All of the tracks on "It's About Time" are good and Coko definetly has the singing skills to showcase her distinctive voice. SWV were awesome and I wish they'd get back together. ... Read more

Will Smith makes a welcome left turn from his recent Hollywood McAction Film past in director Andy Tennant's romantic comedy. He is also the film's executive soundtrack producer, taking the opportunity to pay tribute to the R&B and soul that initially influenced his own musical career, as well as showcase its contemporary echoes. Vintage tracks represent Motown (the Temptations' classic "I Can't Get Next to You") and Philly (The O'Jays "Love Train") soul well, while the Caribbean rhythms of Jimmy Cliff's "You Can Get It," Martha Reeves' "It's Easy to Fall in Love" and Earth, Wind & Fire's pop-inflected "Reasons" testify to the old school's rich diversity. John Legend's new cover of Stevie Wonder's "Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing" doesn't add much to the original, but other new cuts like the hip-hop/soul fusion ofHeavy D and the Boyz' "Now That We Found Love," EW&F's collaboration with Kelly Rowland and Sleepy Brown ("This Is How I Feel") and Amerie's funk-charged "I Thing" offer up a tasty modern R&B groove. 5-0 out of 5 stars I OWN THIS CD, BUT LET'S CLEAR SOMETHING UP...
I never respond to other reviewers, but Juan Redman is way off.The reason why Al B. Sure never took off was because many people did not think he could sing live - especally when he made an appearance on Oprah. Since many of the artists back then in R&B had stronger voices, he was singled out, unfairly I may add, as someone you would not pay live to see. ( I was in my early 20's then and I KNOW what I'm talking about).Christopher Williams (who I love) was also slandered, many thought he was the one who cause Halle Berry to lose her hearing by beating her (which later turned out to be a false rumor). Plus, it was reported that he was somewhat of a diva at Uptown records and was not getting the proper treatment on their label.Whatever the case, it had NOTHING TO DO with them being light skinned, cause women were eating those two up (myself included), as well as Keith Sweat (who is MOST DEFINITELY a chocolate brother).Let's just clear that up.
5-0 out of 5 stars My idol since 1988!
Al B Sure! in my book is my favorite male singer of all time.I was 15 years old when he released his very strong debut album 'In Effect Mode'.All his 3 releases were of very highly quality, the third one being my favorite.I am now a 32 year old male that still loves his music and style. His voice is just so sexy and sensual. The reason the likes of Al B.Sure!, and his cousin another great R&B singer from back in the best era(New Jack Swing Age)Christopher Williams never had the success they deserved is because they were light-skinned.The same people in their community wouldn't give them a chance many times.I've been told many times I look so much alike like my idol,Al B Sure!--Al B Sure! thanks for the memories and amazing music and joy you have brought in my life, good luck in every thing you do in the future and I hope you come out with another great album,Sure!style, peace out brother.Your the greatest.

5-0 out of 5 stars He Should've Made More Music
I remember back in the day all of the women thought that Al B. Sure was hot. That was back when light skin dudes were 'in.' My family didn't have cable back then, so I didn't know what he looked like. But he sure did sound hot over the radio. So a few years ago I do an internet search on him and saw a recent picture of him and he's not looking so hot anymore. However, his music is still hot all of these years later. If you don't have "In Effect Mode" or "The Very Best...," at least get one of them. They pretty much have the same songs on them ... Editorial Review

In 1990, it was still fairly novel to mix R&B songcraft with overpowering hip-hop beats, so this spinoff by New Edition members Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, and Ronnie DeVoe seemed innovative and exciting. Sadly it hasn't aged well. None of the three are compelling singers, and they lack the ability to plead for love effectively (anyone can demand love, but a true soulman has to convince a reluctant participant). Nor are they imaginative rappers--neither their words nor their delivery stand out. But this disc came before the likes of Missy Elliott, Puff Daddy, Jermaine Dupri, or Dallas Austin made a big impact on the scene. As such it's a fine document of black teenage lust during the Gulf War months. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Ivy League
The spin-off trio from New Edition formed by Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins and Ronnie DeVoe to form Bell Biv DeVoe.Their debut album and lead single Poison combined R&B, dance and hip-hop with timeless quotable "...never trust a big butt and a smile..." to bring back memories of that day in time. The ten song album starts off with "Dope!".This song definitely sets the tone for the LP and builds expectation that hasn't been left out with again memorable lyrics "...come here girl I wanna knock your boots..." that was also produced by Dr. Freeze."B.B.D. (I Thought It Was Me)?" continued on exposing the multi-talented group and their style. As a majority of this LP "Let Me Know Something?!" continues with fast pace dance tunes smoothed by Bell's vocals."...take a look at me / tell me do you like what you see..." bluntly stated on "Do Me!" as they slow the tempo down a few degrees for a hot sexual encounter.Referencing the life of New Edition and the transition, "Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, Mike, Ralph And Johnny (Word To The Mutha)!" connects to the members and the fan which was produced themselves with the help of Peace Production."Ain't Nut'in' Changed!" is all hip-hop down to the production from Hank Shocklee, Eric Sadler and Keith Shocklee (also Public Enemy) as one of the three songs produced by the team.Tracks nine and ten contains the only ballads found on this album produced by Timmy Gatling and Alton Stewart with "When Will I See You Smile Again?" and "I Do Need You".The ballads show more mature sound (N.E. with Johnny Gill) harmonies that made them popular for that time.As New Edition or B.B.D they still know how to entertain with great classic songs.

3-0 out of 5 stars HIP! FUNKY! FRESH!
I got my hands on "Poison" 8 years ago when I bought it for cheap at a used CD shop. This album has its moments withthe strongest tracks being the ones that were played on the radio: BBD (I Thought It Was Me), Do Me!, Poison, When Will I See You Smile Again?, and I Do Need You. The other songs I didn't care too much for. Thank goodness they didn't have more than 11 songs! Even though these guys had no real rap skills, they still delivered the goods. They had a style, they were hip, and had a few good singles under their belts.

4-0 out of 5 stars Just like Lucy Pearl would be 10 years later,BBD was only good for one album.
They blew up on this debut big time!!!Then came the highly anticipated (and a very big disappointment) follow-up "Hootie Mack."Well, you know the saying "they pretty much blew away." They seriously over did it on Hootie Mack and should have left it on the shelves. And as far as their little comeback they try to make in 2001?Forget it, too much compitition, not only that but the CD they put out sound like all the current copy cats out now. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Micheal Jackson
My son who just turned 4 is a huge fan and he loves everything about Micheal Jacksons music

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the One!
This CD has some of Michael Jackson's biggest and best hits such as Billie Jean, Bad, Thriller, and his most popular Beat It. As unusual as when I usually get CDs, almost all of the songs on this CD are my favorite. Mostly when you get a CD, you only have 1 or 2 favorites and a lot of songs your stuck with that you don't want. This album is not like that. But the only ones I don't like or care for are She's Out Of My Life, I Just Can't Stop Loving You, Man In The Mirror, The Girl Is Mine, Wanna Be Startin' Somethin', and Heal The World. I heard about Michael Jackson a long time ago then in 2002, I listened to one of the song samples here on Amazon which was Billie Jean. I liked it, so I got this CD and liked most of the songs on this Album. It's too bad he got arrested and I think he's innocent. I know a few guys that don't like Michael Jackson but I don't know how they cannot like him. Michael Jackson is one of the greatest Pop singers of all time and he will always be. I love you Michael!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great talent showcased by great producers
Who would have ever thought that a small song done for a hum-drum movie would have led to such a classic pairing of performers and producers?Let me refresh your memories:
5-0 out of 5 stars 1988's Coming of age classic...................
The summer of 1988 belonged to New Edition and Bobby Brown. For NE, it started with the " If it is'nt Love " video. That video had everyteenage ladies man practicing those dance steps in hopes of getting one of the dime pieces that New Edition could get. Other hits includes Crucial, Coming Home, Boys to Men, NE Heartbreak and You're not my kind of girl. The only down side to this joint is that it did not have the NE Heartbreak remix on it. This album also introduced Johnny Gill who was a perfect vocal match to Ralph and Ricky's high pitched voices.

5-0 out of 5 stars 5 Stars Without A Doubt
In my opinion this is New Edition's best CD and one of the best Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis productions to date during the height of their production genius.

IF ONLY TEVINWAS TEVIN LIKE HE WAS BACK IN THE DAYS.. BUT THIS ALSO IS A GOTTA HAVE

1-0 out of 5 stars Sucko, Sucko, Sucko!!!!
I hate the song, "Tell Mw What You Want Me To Do". That is the whinniest, suckiest song I've ever heard. When I was a child, I heard it, and they played it on the radio non-stop. Needless to say, that has scarred me from ever listening to the radio again, fear of that song coming on. He sucks, and I just wish he and his albums would disappear. That's what I want him to do!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Overview of Tevins 4 albums
The only people who are gonna be disappointed by this set are Tevins hardcore fans who are always gonna cry about some obscure album track favorite of theirs that wasn't included. This is a real nice overview of Tevins 4 album career, and a good item to own if your generally into your modern R&B. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Another one of those "ya had to have been there" albums!
Though the movie from whence comes the music on the album is a classic in its own right, the soundtrack is more a time capsule of what we listened to and danced to in 1991.Most of the artists/groups found on the release have either moved on to bigger and better things (Ice-T, Gerald Levert, and multi-talented Queen Latifah), are still recording with lesser success (Johnny Gill with "New Edition" and Keith Sweat), or have faded into relative obscurity (Color Me Badd, Troop, Guy, and 2 Live Crew).
3-0 out of 5 stars H-U-S-T-L-E-Rhustler.
This is a soundtrack I've had for years but really rarely play. The truth is it's pretty good all the way through, but only 3-4 tracks stand-out to me. Obviously the Ice-T "New Jack Hustler (Nino's Theme)" is awesome, and was kind of the unofficial theme of the movie. "I Wanna Sex You Up" by Color Me Badd may seem cheesy now, but was huge at the time, and I actually still like it. Then there's "For The Love Of Money/Living For The City" with that unmistakeable opening, a good track for the film and greed in general. The rest is a mix of R&B/Soul and light rap, all decent, but nothing too amazing. Overall I guess this serves as a good time-capsule for 1991 if nothing else, in the genres anyway. Well worth the 94 cents it's currently going for used.

5-0 out of 5 stars New Jack City is still going on?
New Jack City is one of the movies that really made me realize what was going on out there in the streets. Another reality is that these things are still going on today as I am typing this review. There will always be a Nino Brown with a fly girlfriend on his side. All of this is simply life period and what more can I say besides the movie is great. I look at all the people who are now older and doing their thing. We really don't see Wesly Snipes like we used to. Ice T is doing his thing with "Law & Order", Vanessa Williams has finished her work on the "Soul Food Series", Christopher Williams is missing in action for whatever reason, but he is still a nice looking man, Allen Payne was really good in "Blue Hill", Michael Michelle is doing her thing. The movie has really shined the light on life in America along with how neighborhoods do in fact change. There will always be the "Pookies" too. Great movie, outstanding cast and script. ... Editorial Review

When I first heard "I Want Her" from this 1987 recording, I dropped what I was doing and ran to a record store. The single is the prototype for what Teddy Riley, who did the drum and keyboard programming on the song, would call "New Jack Swing." It has hip-hop's rhythmic chatter and R&B's fierce uptempo drive. Although Riley contributes to most of the songs on this disc, Sweat has a different direction in mind. He aspires to be--and with future releases became--the king of the slow jam. His warm, deep tenor and his intelligently crafted songs set the standard for the pre-Maxwellian loverman. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Keith Sweat got it right the first time, best album!
The whole album is butter. A lot of babies were probably made off of this. The difference between Make it last Forever and the rest of Keith career is that he macking on this album. The rest of his career he resorted to straight begging to get the cooch. Personal favorites are every song for real. This is an R&B slow jam standard.

Make It Last Forever is probably my second favourite R 'n B song ever (after My My My).It is such a beautiful song and so is this entire album.I've been a fan of Keith's from the beginning and I still go back to this.I Want Her is probably the next best cut on the album, but in reality - it's all good. This is the King of New Jack and nobody does it better than Keith.Make It Last Forever should be in every r'n b fan's collection.I had to go and re-buy this on cd because the cassette I had was wearing thin because after each time Make It Last Forever finished, I'd keep winding it back.I highly recommend this cd.Amazing. ...
