4-0 out of 5 stars Far Better Than Average, But Not Top-Notch
I was glad just to have a live Taylor Dayne CD.Having only caught an occasional live performance, I wondered what a full concert might sound like.I was dissappointed in "Don't Rush Me," one of my all time TD favorites. But all in all, it's a CD worth having. The last four songs, all ballads, are worth the price of the disc, particular the extra vocalizing on "I'll Always Love You."Do you miss singers with feeling instead just pyrotechnics?Taylor's got 'em.Get her. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars strong voice, still.
Donna Summer's stage presence is somewhat faint compared to other performers who can easily make themselves known on the stage before they open their mouths. She thrives boundlessly on studio recordings, withoutthe of confines and stiffness that spontaniety can sometimes bring. However, what gives this particular recording four stars is Summer's everstrong and powerful voice, never showing fatigue throughout the entiredisc. And every song is instantly recognizable, even with slightly alteredarrangements. The best is saved for the end with her 100% rocking versionof "Hot Stuff". Donna still completely has it and evenmore...Hey, if anybody can add to this page what the three additionaltracks on the import version of this are, I would muchly appreciate it.Thank You! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Barry's in the Hall!
I've seen the video from which this album was made. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars was the holdback on the material that they chose to inlude on this CD."Nickels And Dimes", "Ships", "If Should Love Again", "This One's For You", "Sunday Father" just to name a few along side his dialogue were left out. These were essential to the concert's flow.I don't mind that "Can't Smile Without You" was omitted. They can shelve that one til dust covers it to the point of barely visible. (I think I hear some women growling at me.Let them. It's a bad song whether studio or "live".)
4-0 out of 5 stars Manilow Magic Stikes Again!
I really like this one, then again I like live performance anyway, but this one is really nice.

5-0 out of 5 stars YOU HAVE GOT TO GET THIS ONE!!!!!
I owned the recording of this Barry Manilow shortly after it was released many years ago.During one of our moves, I lost some of my albums, and did not think I could ever replace this one.I was so disappointed because I loved every song that was on it. I looked for it so many times, but thought it was not released again. Last week, I was on Amazon, just going thru Manilow cds, etc., and could not believe my eyes when I saw that it was out on a cd. I could not wait to get it.I have it, and it is even better than the first.ALL the songs are great----I love the tribute he does to London, plus all the other great ones, but to top it off is his rendition of "We'll Meet Again", and has the crowd going crazy, and singing with him----then my very favorite "One Voice"---- this is soooo beautiful. This has to be a favorite for all Barry Manilow fans, and when you hear this one, you will all be fans!!!!Thank you Amazon!!! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars We'd like to ask you if you'd leave the building as soon as possible.
This is the dress rehearsal for the Aloha From Hawaii televison special. Some people prefer it to the "official" Aloha concert, but the concerts aren't actually all that different from each other.Elvis seems slightly more relaxed here, maybe too relaxed, he forgets some of the verses of "Burning Love" and "Steamroller Blues".The main difference is that this concert has two less songs than the other one. This CD includes three of the five special "insert" songs recorded for the American broadcast (the remastered Aloha From Hawaii CD includes all five of them). The "insert" songs include false starts and between song conversations, where the director gives Elvis instructions and Elvis expresses his annoyance at having to record these songs at 3:00 in the morning. This is a nice CD to have, but the remastered Aloha from Hawaii CD has better sound quality.Of course, "real" Elvis fans will want to have both concerts.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST ELVIS CD
THIS CD IS MUCH BETTER THEN THE ALOHA FROM HAWAII- ELVIS IS RELAZED- BETTER SOUND,BETTER CROWD- THE SONG "MY WAY" IS EXCELLENT - 5 * * * * *

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than Aloha from hawaii
Elvis the Alternate Aloha is much better than Elvis Aloha from hawii.Elvis's vocal control is much better than the aloha release.Elvis is in a great mood and ls more energetic than Aloha from hawaii.Basicilly Elvis is more relaxed, not as drugged up as the original.Elvis sings in a country tone in this album and stays on key. There is no slurring or off key moments on this album.I reccomend it.Also purches the dvd Im sure you will enjoy it more than Aloha from hawaii. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Good Document For The 1979H&O X-Static Tour
I really like this era of Hall and Oates music this disc really takes me back .I remember seeing H&Ofrom this 79 tour in a small venue like it was yesterday . This is a good show and one of the highlights from this tour for me was GE Smith on guitar! Flawless leads and fillers by the ex-SNL Band Leader. The band is tight here and although there is cut at the beginning Of "Serious Music" (possibly due to master tape problems?) it doesn't ruin the show. They have plenty ofhighlights "Do What You Want, Be What You Are", "It's A Laugh","Wait For Me","Sara Smile" and "She's Gone" are excellent!1-0 out of 5 stars Ugh
I love H&O and was SO disappointed. Now, don't get me wrong. If it's a timepeice you are after, here it is.It really catches them where they were then. It's almost tentative. The audience is also different.During the opening rips on Wait for Me, the crowd is silent. They had never heard it before. That is cool. But the music was not yet their own.Today they have an amazing sense of self ane their music.Go for one of their more recent live compilations!See recommendations....

5-0 out of 5 stars Ecstatic for X-Static
Another CD I never thought I would see. From the X-Static tour this appears to be one of the many radio shows Daryl and John recorded.I know of other early shows including the Red Ledge and Voices tours, so I am guessing this is also a broadcast. This CD contains some gems including great live recordings of The Woman Comes and Goes, Don't Blame it on Love, It's a Laugh and Sweet Soul Music. The hits are here also and there is a nice version of Wait for Me when it was still new and fresh to Daryl and John. The only real dissapointment is Serious Music. The actual performance is great and they did a great job on a hard song to do live, but the song starts after the beginning. Not sure if there was a problem with the tape or the show was just coming back from commercial or what, but the entire beginning of the song is gone and it fades in just beyond the intro.Too bad, because as I said otherwise it's a great version. The CD ends with the late 70's closer Pleasure Beach and rocks out.Glad I have this in my collection now with the versions of Room to Breathe already available, you can now buy concerts with both of the great concert closers! You also get to see(hear) the beginnings of the 80's band with G.E. and Charlie "Mr Casual" both on board at this point.Just two pieces short of the ultimate H and O band, though this version does know how to rock. The package is decent but has flaws. The song list on the back lists Be Bop Drop which is not included and also has Charlie DeChant as Dechamps and the small print on the back has Oates as Oats.Minor flaws, but obviously not a big H and O fan worked on the release. This is on a tiny label and will no doubt not be available long.Buy it now.Performances of the 70's songs are hard to come by. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars So-So. Moments of Great, Good, Bad and Ugly.
This is my first (and only, so far) set from the Treasury Shows series and I have mixed feelings about it. There is some great stuff, some good stuff, and some stuff I have no trouble skipping right over... and the sound is kinda blah. Jelly Roll Morton's electric sides from the '20s and early '30s sound better than much of this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kohuept: A Solid Billy Joel Live Album
Lots of Billy Joel fans have mixed feelings about this 1987 live album, recorded during his famed concert in the Soviet Union. Though by no means is it among the greatest live albums ever (like The Rolling Stones' "Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out" or even Joel's own "Songs In The Attic"), "Kohuept" is a solid document of Joel's groundbreaking concert in the Soviet Union.
4-0 out of 5 stars Kohuept Gets the Job Done - Good Live Collection
In 1981 Billy Joel had released his first live album of his career. This album was entitled "Songs From the Attic", but it actually served two purposes:1) It was meant to be a live collection of songs;2) The portfolio of songs on the collection was meant to be focused around "Old Billy Joel" songs from early in his career - songs that had almost been forgotten about - or not heard much by the average fan.So in reality, by 1987 with 11 studio albums under his belt - Billy Joel was overdue for a true live album that provided a better cross-section of his career. But once again Billy uses his live album to serve two purposes. In 1987, Billy made a historic tour of the Soviet Union (it was still rare to find Rock artists touring Russia. Thus, later in 1987 Billy would release "Kohuept" (Russian for "In Concert"). In addition to serving as a record of Billy's concert in Leningrad - it would also serve the purpose of providing a long awaited live album that would be a better cross-section of his career.
4-0 out of 5 stars Kohuept looks at a changin' times as Joel goes to the USSR
At the tail end of the Cold War, two years after Mikhail Gorbachev began to liberalize the Soviet Union with his "glasnost" (openness) and "perestroika" (restructuring), Billy Joel became one of the first (if not THE first) American pop-rock superstar to play a series of gigs in the Communist heartland.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Trini Lopez returns to PJ's but goes for more rock than folk
It might seem strange that Trini Lopez was a folk sensation, but that is exactly what happened when his first live album, "Trini Lopez at PJ's" came out in 1963 and "If I Had a Hammer" became a hit.The album made it to #2 on the Billboard charts and stayed in the Top 40 for almost a year, so it was not surprising that this follow-up effort came out in August of 1963 and was entitled "More Trini Lopez at PJ's" (just in case anybody missed the point).Lopez actually fronted a trio and played guitar, with Dick Brant on bass and Mickey Jones on drums, but it was his distinctive style that blended folk and pop with swing and Latin that made him a unique star.Read more
