28 tunes for under $10?Can't go wrong,
I actually prefer TB's studio recordings to his live performances because I feel the sheer richness and subtlety of his voice is lost when pumped through a microphone in an echoing concert hall.This actually assists many singers that need to have occassional cracks and wavers in tone covered up, because the mistakes get swallowed up in the reverberation--but with TB in his prime, you want to focus on his "perfect" voice, not crowd noise, or punchy band arrangements.On certain numbers, Tony seems to be shouting tunes out to the crowd and not displaying the dynamic vocal range he was capable of at this time. This is undoubtedly him being influenced by the excitement of performing in front of a large crowd that he wants to get revved up.I prefer the small, initmate, Ralph Saron trio approach he uses today as opposed to the big-band, cheerleader style he uses here.The big band thing was better suited for Sinatra. Nevertheless, this is a live recording of excellent sound quality and shows TB in his prime.This CD is actually an abreviated version-- there is a 2 CD set with additional material also available, I believe.This CD is certainly worth a purchase at such a nominal price.Thouroughly enjoyable.

As much an historical document as a pleasurable experience.
This classic complete recording (CD re-issue) of Tony Bennett's historical recording is also truly a pleasurable listening experience.Many of the tunes will probably be new, and many may feel dated, but all have the charmand energy that Tony Bennett has yet to lose. ... Read more

Happy to have bought Medusa a second time
Well let me start by saying that I bought the Medusa album 2 times. The first time when it was released in 1995, the second time in 1996, when it was released with the live album. At first I thought of this album, shameon you. You, who is one of the greatest songwriters, singers of theseventies, eighties and nineties together. But when you listen to this, youstart thinking about this voice, the looks (icy cold, but warm) and theDIVA album. Those two albums cannot be compared with one another, but eventhough I do. When you look at Diva as an Album by a singer well grown up,you can look at Medusa as an album by a woman who's all grown up and is nowready to explore her musical roots. And what roots they are!!! From Simon,The Clash to Bob Marley. Everything is fantastic. And than the livealbum... I'm still glad that I did purchase it a second time. Especiallythe rendition of "placed a chill" absolutely marvellous. Everynow and then I play the record and everytime I get high on her voice. Onethings missing only, I would have loved a live version of LoveSong For AVampire, for the movie "Bram Stoker's Dracula" from 1992 or 1993.With this song included it would al be tops... The real Celine Dion experience!!!!!
This CD showcases Celine Dion's vocal talent at it's best, and I often find that much of this gifted artist's work is better when recorded live rather than in the studios. I find that this CD along with her previous live release "Live Al Olympia" reveal Celine at her best, unlike other artists who's on-stage and live performances often prove to be more damaging to their credibility as singers. The album contains exceptional moments- my favorite, perhaps, is when Celine reveals a hidden talent...her astonishing ability to imitate the sounds of instruments as she introduces the members of her musical entourage. Also, the fresh quality and appeal of the often over-played 'Deaux' tracks, proves that when Celine performs her studio-recorded material live- she sings with such vitality and passion that it seems that we're hearing these songs for the first time. Adding the single "To Love You More" was indeed a 'bonus', but I find that it is out of place on this testament to Dion's abilities as a 'live' performer and I don't consider it to be one of the more shining moments on this album. However, the moments that do shine are what should perhaps be consideredCeline trademark tracks, classics such as "The Power of Love" and "Ziggy", which are, naturally, included. This is the album that made me realize that if I would be given only one opportunity to see an artist live, I would definitely choose Celine Dion, for she makes the concert experience a truly memorable and worthwhile one.

Another Amazing One Celine!
This is an awesome work from Celine Dion.All her cd's are great but this is one of the best.Please try the video of this concert, it's awesome. All Celine Dion fans please support her and buy her new cd; which will be out the 23th and 24th of October all over the globe.Celine Rocks!!!!!

I bought this in the bargain bin because I love Dionnes voice and wanted to hear some of her best songs. Then I saw that it was a live cd. Was dissapointed but put it on. It has good production qualities for a bargain record. For a live cd, it isn't that bad. However, there isn't any information about the concerts recorded or the date recorded. a kind of a question mark cd. but if you can get it for five or six bucks get it. ... Read more

Do NOT pay so much for this!
I've been looking for the 2CD version of "Shadows & Light" for ages and I finally found it, brand new, in HDCD format, for $12.99 at Tower Records. (I must note that it was only at one Tower Records here in Sacramento, the other stores didn't have it)I also found it at a Borders Books & Music for around the same price. Imagine my relief and joy when I learned that I didn't have to fork out such a large sum of money for this (although it would have been worth it if this was the only way to get it). ^ . ^
Ok, ok: you can't REALLY pass this masterpiece, can you?
This masterpiece was "shot" at what could be considered the apex of Joni's career (not that what followed was to be trashed anyway!).The Japan version includes three tracks not considered for the single CD: "Freeman in Paris", "Black crow" and the "Don's solo" (Don Alias, at the epoch fiancee' to Joni). About this concert, there are other two "hidden" beautiful gems that you can only find in the DVD (I bought it and extracted those damned!): "Raised on Robbery" and a noteworthy "Jaco's solo". In the concerts from which this CD has been cut we had a stellar cast: Jaco Pastorious on Bass, Pat Metheny, Michael Brecker, Don Alias, Lyle Mays and, for a nice touch on"Why do fools fall in love" and other little embellishments, "The Persuasions".5/5 is my vote, for what it is worth!

my shadows&light experience
i got this cd only two years ago, when i already had an almost-complete collection of joni's records. this musical exhibit is not something you can just hear while doing other things.you have to sit down, empty your ears,and let it fill you with it's exciting harmonies. the introduction is builtexactly to those needs; it shoves you directly into the highly emotinalstate in which you're gonna stay to the last seconds of woodstock. shadowsand light is a live recording from santa barbara bowl (1979). it involvessome of the best musicians in the world: jaco pastorius (bass), pat matheny(lead guitar), michael brecker (sax) and lyle mays (keyboards), don alias(drums). all those people really gave themselves to this project and youcan't avoid feeling it. i do have a special sympathy to joni's cover for"why do fools fall in love" and also: "in france they kisson main street" "shadows and lighe" "coyote" andthe classic "woodstock". don't miss this cd- you'll love it. ... Live CD from the Full House Concert Performance
Back in the early 1990's when John Farnham was a hot commodity (still is now) and his popularity was off the charts he did many concerts and this concert was packed out to the brim here in Sydney. Hence the CD was self titled after the concert. It's a charmer of a CD and my only complaint is the crowd is rarely heard....I am one for crowd participation if this is indeed intended to be a Live performance. Most of the hits from his albums were sung with Farnham's great talented band. He truly is a Aussie icon and we are all proud of our Johnny Farnham. In this CD there are no new songs so it is old material reprised but it doesn't detract from this beautiful performance. Go Johnny, go!

A great, laid-back performance
This is a 1957 live recording of a dance in middle-of-nowhere Pennsylvania. The setlist is standards, the pulse is suitably dancable, and the music is great. This is an experienced band on the road, playing a small gig, and relaxing. The music shows this: it's laid back, well played.
