4-0 out of 5 stars Surprising effort.Lyrically, I am not so sure.
I was hesitant to buy this CD.After hearing BEP and what they had to offer, I wondered how Fergie would do on her own.
4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good
I must say that the great thing about Fergie, is she can actually sing. She does showcase that talent on several songs here. While im not a big fan of raping songs much anymore, those are good as well. You really need to listen to this cd a couple times to enjoy, ill admit i downloaded it once and was like ugh. But then i relistened to each song and found myself truly liking the cd. Its just like any cd really you have to listen to a few times to really get the feel of the artist. I like her singing in Wild Orchid so i guess i really like the songs more where she actually sings. I was never really a big fan of London Bridge, but i suppose i see why she released it.

1-0 out of 5 stars EWWWWWWWWWWW
I can't believe anyone likes this album. It's horrendous.

3-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing...
I wouldn't have bought this CD if I had known from the start that the song from the showcase wasn't on the soundtrack.

1-0 out of 5 stars Overhyped
I'm not feeling this soundtrack. It's everything that I hate about modern music: all style and no substance, too many heavy beats and not enough melody, too much pop and not enough genuine soul. I could go on and on. I wouldn't waste my money on this. Nothing memorable here. ... Read more

This is one of my most favorite CD'S ever!!! I love the music, beat, and lyrics for every song!!!!
5-0 out of 5 stars Underrated

2-0 out of 5 stars A sad triumph of greed over quality
BEP was one of my favorite hip-hop acts of the late 90's. Their Debut album "Behind the Front" and even their Sophomore album "Bridging the Gap" continued a musical approach and ideology more akin to Tribe Called Quest, Talib Kweli, De La Soul, and the Roots than the current Gangster Rap trend.

1-0 out of 5 stars This Is The Kind Of Crap Wrong With Hip Hop Today
If any of y'all think i'm a rap basher or what ever than check my profile because i'm anything but that. Its just hip hop today is really starting to [...]. None of its original in the least bit its just the same crap over and over. Basically all they talk about is guns, woman, sex, money, and drugs. Chingy is a perfect representation of whats wrong with the hip hop scene. He relys on image by posing on the front cover to get a wannabe look and his rapping is simply laughable. All these people like Ja Rule, Chingy, Lil Jon, Nelly, Fabulous, Young Jeezy and all the other terrible rappers deserve to be banned from rapping. Someone outta pull Tupac on these candy pop stars

3-0 out of 5 stars Decent Effort From Chingy, A Few Good Songs
St. Louis rapper Chingy has released his latest CD Hoodstar. The album was the highest charting rap CD the week it was released selling over 70,000 copies. The album was propelled by the radio and video friendly single "Pullin' Me Back," which features Tyrese.

5-0 out of 5 stars C.E.O. of HIP-HOP
Most of the HIP-HOP talks about DIDDY, rappers hate Diddy because he likes to shine and he is the most known face in HIP-HOP. This albun reminds us that he is probably the most important part of HIP-HOP because the albun is good, and like all his previous albuns this albun will go to the top. All the songs are really good and he looks fresh

2-0 out of 5 stars Was really let down...
I was lookin forward to this cd for awhile, but after I bought it I realized that I made a mistake. The beats are horrible, his lyrica ability is awful, and what is with the love/break up songs?? DO yourself a favor Diddy and stick to the club songs. I'd say theres 4 maybe 5 good songs out of 19...

4-0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprised.....not a big fan...., but I do like this....Read on.....
4.25 stars....First, let me start by saying that I am a huge music fan & love all genres...everything from R&B, pop, rock, classic rock, easy listening, pop-rock, contemporary country, etc.I like hip-hop, but only if it has a good dance beat to it.Let me also say that I keep a very open mind. The primary reason I purchased this CD is because, for one, there is a colaboration with Christina Aguilera (big fan & that voice will amp up any track) including all the other assorted colabs with Keyshia cole (great voice), Brandy, Mary J., Timbaland, Ciara, Mario Winans, Avant, etc. etc.All the colabs are awesome and my favorites are 1. "Through The Pain" with Mario, 2. "Tell Me" with Christina, 3. "Last Night" with Keyshia, 4. "Special Feeling" with Mika Lett, 5. "Making It Hard" w/ Mary J.I actually like all the tracks, but these five stand out in my opinion. The thing I like about Diddy is that he manages to produce a blend of thump'en base and funky hip-hop with great dance/r&b beats. This mix results in a brilliant and seductive combination.I loooooove the beat on "Through The Pain"....what a great track.Tracks "Special Feeling" and "Last Night" have a Prince feel to them, especially SF.Sounds like Prince lended a hand in the production. This explains why these tracks stand out for me since I am a huge Prince fan.It pisses me off though that he wears fur - not necessary - come on Diddy....that's the only negative I have to say about you (like he's really reading this)...there is no reason for it.Anyway, I do like the CD, & I highly recommend it.

4-0 out of 5 stars why is the only good rap in existence being bashed!?
I thought rap was a completely hopeless genre capable of no appeal to me until the Black-Eyed Peas came out with this CD, full of awesome songs like Hey Mama, Hands Up, Let's Get Started, Where Is The Love, Shut Up etc. Then of course there are the Beastie Boys which I like also, but other than that I hate all rap. I find it hilarious that there are people out there who would believe that 50 Cent has talent. Blasting out expletives right and left on top of a beat you could make with a Casio doesn't hardly count as music if you ask me. Anyway, I find this CD very refreshing, and it is an important headstone in the continuous timeline of music. If you want good rap, look no further than this CD by the B-E Peas and their latest: Monkey Business, both are quite good. Also the Beastie Boys are even better, so check them out. Otherwise rap is an awful genre. THis might even be counted as hiphop too, so rap is made even worse by that fact.
1-0 out of 5 stars As bad as the food its name is derived from
Black Eyed Peas have been making a name for themselves by selling to the non-intellectuals, with dumbed down lyrics, lame beats, and annoying vocals. Only in America is this the formula for certain success. Just when you thought that no band could cause an aneurysm more than Gwen Stefani, it looks like Black Eyed Peas has become number one.
5-0 out of 5 stars BEP RULES!

5-0 out of 5 stars danceable upbeat fun
my sisters listened to sergio mendez and brazil 66 when i was growing up, and i loved their music.now in 2006, this album proves his style, talent and genius are indeed "timeless".highly recommned this cd.every song is uniquely great.

2-0 out of 5 stars "The fusion will never fail"(???)
Brazilian music is my favorite genre. From the wild creativity of Chico Cesar to the electric stylings of the late Suba, from the soulful bossa nova of Bebel Gilberto to the bossa nova-meets-Indian classical of Ana Rita Simonka,I've found Brazilian popular music joyous&diverse. After all,I grew up listening to Sergio Mendes&Brasil '66!I was subtly enchanted by his songs. So,I was curious about "Timeless",since it's prominent at many a Starbucks.
5-0 out of 5 stars ALBUM OF THE YEAR; BRILLIANT COLLABORATION; STUNNING RESULTS!
To be clear, I am a big Sergio Mendes fan.I have always appreciated his musical sensibilities: smooth, sophisticated, eclectic.Perhaps the original "world music purveyor." I have derived enjoyment from every one of his musical incarnations/combinations, through the sixties, seventies, and beyond.

4-0 out of 5 stars Hip-hop head, to the rescue yet again.
I swear, some of the rants metal elitists go on in anything remotely related to hip-hop is intolerable. A person a few reviews below this one decided to diss this album without giving any sort of info into why this album was unsatisfactory; he simply called Kanye a douche. You know what? Kanye is a douche, but you're worse; what you are, is a closed-minded fool who can't escape the boundaries your musical tastes have set for you. I'm a metal head myself, but I still appreciate all forms of music; so how about you crawl into the cave you wandered out from, and listen to your CoB and Sepultura, whilst leaving hip-hop heads to listen to the music they enjoy?
4-0 out of 5 stars Nice Sophmore Effort
There was no way Kanye West could even come close to making an album quite like "The College Dropout".However, he gives it his all, and comes up with a perfectly respectable and high-quality sophmore effort.
1-0 out of 5 stars Want to be in the Bible, Kanye West?
Fine, you'll be the person that gets stoned to death outside the city walls. As for this album, well, the booklet is good toilet paper, and a broken shard of the CD case makes a good shank for stabbing all your village wiggars. Other than that, this is nothing short but a waste ofplastic, by the world's biggest douchebag. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Very InconsistantAlbum From Pharrell (Rating: 6 out of 10- -3 stars)
I love Pharrell. He is one of my favorite producers and I enjoy freestyling to his beats. When I heard that his album was coming out, I couldn't wait until to hear it. It was supposed to come out in Feb '06, but the critics said it wasn't as good as expected, causing him to go back and change it (or so I heard). Finally in July he comes out with his solo debut "In My Mind". Listening to this album it is very inconsistent, mostly on Pharrell's behalf.
4-0 out of 5 stars Pharrell proves he's da man!
Pharrell's made a very listenable and great album here. His long awaited solo album, In My Mind has finally arrived and like the descriptions say, it's not without it's flaws. But the flaws are mostly ignored with Pharrell's clever production and songs. He himself stated that this record wasn't meant to sell a million or more albums, and that shows that he's proud of this record.
4-0 out of 5 stars At least he's creative
I've always had a soft spot for Pharrell. This goes right back to the good old days (well, 1999, actually) when Kelis burst out on to the scene with "Caught Out There". I liked him for many reasons but most of all I liked him because he was different. He's an innovator and he brought something new to the music scene. Many have tried to imitate his style but very few if any have succeeded. And while some people might turn up their noses at him now, let's not forget that for a long minute back there, everyone and their grandmother was running to him for tracks. Okay, so it was he and Chad Hugo but until the latter puts out a CD of his own, I'm comfortable with the notion that it's the former that is the main force behind the Neptunes and has always been .

4-0 out of 5 stars Respect Due
Even though he's no Rude Bwoy, Sean Paul has expanded the notion of dancehall (at least in the US) more than any single artist since Shabba brought it to Carribean Riddims (BET) back in the day.Without question b/c of Sean Paul future dancehall artists have the opportunity for more visibility and more money.Point Blank.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Traveling Music
I'm not a big reggue fan but this CD is a good one. This CD is better than the last one and has a lot of real upbeat dance tracks. The music is so good you seem to forget the explicit references to the female anatomy, which is hidden behing the accent. Being somewhat conservative I was surprised about some of the lyrics after I listened to it for the 50th time. But all in all, the overall message is that he likes having a good time and that's better than some of the other themes that are on the music scene these days. So overall it will make you feel "Eyeree" which is the point for making music in the first place. :-)

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST BUY EVER!
This Sean Paul album is HOTT! I would say it's the best CD buy I've ever made and now I'm in love with it. Some excellent songs include Temperature, We Be Burnin', Eye Deh A Mi Knee (My favorite song ever, it doesn't get enough attention), the trinity, head in the zone, and send it on. the single "give it up to me" i don't really like, and it shouldn't have been a single, but the rest of the album is GREAT. love to dance? this is the one you've been waiting for.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great
This CD is not bad. When I first played a Marriah Carey song came on so I kind of regretted buying the CD. As the CD moved on it started to get better because a rather dancy song came on by the "The Pussycat Dolls" sang a song called "Stickiwu" came on. Other songs such as "Dirty Little Secret" by "The All American Rejects" and "Unwritten" by Natasha Beddingfield were good too. Nickleback was a little rusty throated on "Photograph" because the lead singers voice is scrachty. "Dare" by "Gorrilaz" had a great tune so over all I give Now 21 an 8 1/2. Bottom line is this is a good CD and if you wanna buy it you go for it!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Greatest!
1. Don't Forget About Us- (A+) Oh so now Mariah finally gets put on a NOW complication. This songs the greatest, beter than "We Belong Together," because it doesn't sample anything. (#1)
3-0 out of 5 stars Now using Kids' Bop standards
let me start by saying, the nows from the 90's were a lot better than what now is making now.they usually start off with hip-hop/rap (THere's plenty)then pop, then rock/alternative, then keith urban. the Now series should have started in the mid 90's.in the mid 90's they had way better sh-it than they do now.they had pearl jam, green day, tupac.BOY HAVE THINGS F_UCKING CHANGED!like if you look at the track listings for now 22, the middle to end of the album are all 2-bit pro tool users!someone commented that that dude nick lachey sounds better now than when he did in 98 degrees.yeah, cause he's just discovered that all his pop classmates like teddy geiger, david powter, jesse mccartney are using these pro recording tools to improve their sucky voices, and now nick wants to join the band wagon.and another thing to nick, "Dude, forget about Jessica, ur songs all sound the same because u keep crying like a lil' bit9ch about her. its fine to release 1 song about her, but 2?is that all ur songs are about, man?thats pathetic.look at jessica, she's singing about going out and having fun with friends.her videos have color and dont take place on a tacky beach shore. ur a handsome guy, go look for a hot groupie and do the damn thing wit her. get ur mind off jess.also i think pink should be on this album.u may think she's squeeky clean pop, but shes cool cus she's unlike natasha bedingfield and kelly. she broke the pop mold!it makes me wonder did the same people that made the first nows the sames peeps that made these pot headed compilations of today. also now has the habit of featuring one or two singles from an artist and then forgetting about them.they must be stealing Kids Bop's formula. they should a link on their web site so fans can vote for what they want to hear on the next disc. i stopped buying these albums at now 14 when they started cramming these worthless hip-hop disasters on their discs. ewwww.and can now no go overboard when they edit the songs.they should release a clean and explicit version.and they should stop cutting the endings to songs. when i make my own mix cd's i have several songs passed 4:30 and i'm able to fit 22 or 23 songs on the disc easy.now is the kind of series that takes even a song that ends at say...4:10 and edits down to like 3:20thats almost a whole minute!now should stop chuggin that bong and release true to heart authentic compilations.not comps that they hurry and just put any crappy song on so they can make their profits and take it up the a.ss from jesse mccartney's record label ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Okay But Not Remarkable
Bone Thugs N Harmony are one of the most successful hip-hop groups in history. Their fast rap style blended with unique harmonies made them a stand out hit beginning way back in 1994 with their debut EP Creepin' on a Come Up. Everyone has probably heard by now that the group has been busy n the studio working on a major label release with super produce Swizz Beats. That album is still in the works.

Seems like Bone Thugs are resorting to the trend of day- artists abandoning their original format to concentrate on making club bangers and radio play.. The sad thing is Bone Thugs's attempt to do so sux as the songs on the cd are not that good anyway. THIS is NOT the Bone Thugs we knew in Creepin Come up or E.1999. Most of the CD is full of tired R&B covers, and being a long time fan, I do not buy a Bone Thugs album to hear whats being played on the radio- I buy it to reminisce the original rap that erbody seems to avoid nowadays. With the exception of the title song- Thug Stories, The CD is unworth the money ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT DEBUT
B.I.G. was one of the greats and even though he had only two albums they both are must haves for any true hip hop fan and not a lot rappers can say that about their own two albums. Anyways I'm not going to go indepth about this album because so many people have I'm here to tell you to buy it if you like hip hop. My favorite songs are all of them because each has a story and they will make you hit the rewind button cause it is so good you will not believe. 1-0 out of 5 stars Total garbage.
This collection shows us,Jack and Jill public, how narrow minded the Grammy voters are today. Not one track on this so-called collection is worthy of a listen or a grammy nod.QUIET.

1-0 out of 5 stars The Verdict Is In . . .
YAAAAAAAAWWWWWWNNN! Don't even bother buying and listening to this CD. Every song on here lacks emotion, meaningful lyrics, and any type of memorable melody. Standards are set so low that any untalented fool can get a record deal, sample to their hearts content, and win a Grammy. Skip this and get Stevie Wonders greatest hits collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars You will love it!
This CD collection is great and if some of your favorite singers are Alicia Keys, Maroon 5, etc then you will find it fascinating and uplifting just like me. This is the best of the best and I highly recommend it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I knew the Queen was Into music but WOW!
I could listen to this cd over and over again. I love that I can relaxe and sing along. Queens voice is wonderful and so comforting. I am so impressed. I love jazz. I hope she does more

5-0 out of 5 stars Pleeez! This album is excellent.
Anytime you can put a cd in and play it start to finish without all the blatant sexuality, I would say is excellent. My favorite is simply beautiful and baby get lost.If you don't know any thing about jazz I guess you wouldn't like this album but her covers are well done!!!She doesn't have to be vulgar to show she can sing and is she sexy. Hopefully, she will put out another album that will be just as good. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Nostalgia for Gen Xers
Sometimes, covers of old songs and attempts to modernize old childhood favorites just fall flat. This isn't one of those times.
3-0 out of 5 stars I prefer the original artists
I bought this by mistake thinking the songs were performed by the original artists. I think you can only hear the originals by getting the dvd. I was pretty bummed at first but my child loves this. My only complaint is that you can't understand all of the words so some of the educational value of the songs is lost.

4-0 out of 5 stars I laughed I cried, I give it four stars
Making a cover album is difficult, you'll almost never please the purists who loved the original. Putting together a compilation CD with various artists adds the problems of uneveness in style and talent. Do do all this with School House Rock songs seems really hard. To review this CD is almost as hard. Most of us of "age" loved these songs when our musical tastes ran more toward Sesame Street (or insert your tastes here, the point is our tastes have evolved). The fact that so many people still like these songs is a testament to the originals.

4-0 out of 5 stars An Awesome Soundtrack
This is one of those soundtracks that complements and energizes the movie from which it comes. Some particular standouts are Talib Kweli's "Abra Cadabra" and Electric Six's "Dance Commander."Most of the tracks are pure fun, excepting Blink 182's rather generic "Anthem, Pt. 2."Add this album to your collection for days when you want to take life less seriously.

3-0 out of 5 stars A litlle disappointed...
The missy elliot's track is very disappointing as well as a couple of other tracks (abra cadabra, fire fire, the game and crowded) but the rest is nice.To me the only great ones are:

5-0 out of 5 stars The beginning of Jay-Z Superstar!
Can I get a? was the first banger off this joint, then came the full leap to mainstream acceotance with Hard Knock Life(with it's Annie chorus). After this album Jay ruled hip hop. Even when DMX came along they co ruled but Jay was never knocked out of his #1 spot till Nas responded with ether in 2001. Anyways back to this review, Jay steps his game up from where he left off with "In my Lifetime vol 1". Most of the songs on here could have been sucessful singles such as Money Cash Hoes, Jigga What, Jigga Who, It's Alright, Money Aint A Thing and a couple more. The production was next level by Timbo and Swizz Beats.

5-0 out of 5 stars one of jigga's best
i own this album and i like all the songs.
4-0 out of 5 stars It's A Hard Knock Life For Us (4 stars)
It seems like a lot of reviewers are idiots and just want to bash Jay-Z.
