4-0 out of 5 stars GOOD ALBUM, BUT RIP-OFF FORMAT

4-0 out of 5 stars Jack Webb & the Rookies
Captured live in Chicago IL,this is documentation of War in peak form on stagein support of 1972's "The World Is A Ghetto".Live went on to produce another top 40 hit (Ballaro) in 1974. This, during a time when live LP's didn't usually produce hits.Released as a double LP (their fist since 1970's Black-Man's Burdon) Live would eventually sell over a million copies and give War their fourth gold record in a row.
5-0 out of 5 stars This is one of War'sbest!
One of War's great works...live in concert. If you never saw War in person--this album is filled with excellent songs, sung with an intimacy that makes you feel as if you are a member of the live audience at the funkiest show ever! A show you will never forget!!! Music, voice, quality is excellent, the CD is claiming to be a remaster. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best live rock albums of all time
I saw The Tubes for the first time about six months after this album was recorded, and the show was just beyond description (especially for a 17-year-old!). It completely changed the way I thought about rock music, and completely changed my standards for what a good rock performance should look and sound like. I really wish someone had been able to document the late '70s Tubes shows for posterity on video--these guys were just awesome. I've seen the band now a total of eight times, and "What Do You Want From Live?" is a pretty amazing aural representation of the band at that time--I still have the album in my car, 27 years later (now on CD, but I used to have it on 8-track!). With two drummers, two keyboardists, two guitarists, a bass player and a singer, the band's sound at the time was as dense, tight and hard-hitting as anything in rock--then or now. DEFINITELY check this album out--you won't be sorry....

4-0 out of 5 stars GREAT LIVE RECORDING - "FINALLY"
I saw the TUBES many times in the 70's, 80's and 90's and even in 2002 and had been waiting for this to get to CD. This is BY FAR one of the GREATEST SOUNDING LIVE RECORDINGS ever made. I was amazed back in 78 when this record came out and how good ("CLEAN") the sound is on this record. It's what a LIVE album SHOULD sound like. Even if your NOT a TUBES fan, take a little time and check this out, it's worth it. BTW, the TUBES are NOT a punk band, they are a rock-n-roll band that were WAY AHEAD of their time. They had ALOT of fun at this time (78) I agree, they were in their prime. This was right after "NOW" came out and before "REMOTE CONTROL". Also, if your looking for CLASSIC TUBE matl, be sure to check out the 1st album "THE TUBES" and "YOUNG and RICH"! Even though I could have cared less about 80's stuff, I was happy that they were making some WELL DESERVED $$!! This is a GREAT LIVE record, a MUST for TUBES fans, and ANYONE that wants to check them out, I recommend this as very good value. Have fun, it's GREAT!!

3-0 out of 5 stars NOT THE GIG THAT I SAW!
Now firstly, i think the Tubes are great and this gig was great and seeing it from the front row i saw the band in all their visual glory. But somewhere between this gig and its mixing before the album release, someone messed up big time. It is badly edited and all the jokes have been completely cut or censored or in the case of 'white punks' where the audience were encouraged to shout abuse in the chorus edited so far in the mix that on listening i wondered if it was the same gig. On record the 'i was a punk' side is lame and embarassing where as with the inbetween songs banter it worked. Also missing was a great version of 'it's not unusual' and the still unreleased 'rock'n'roll hospital'. What happened? Surely the band wanted the album to be representative of what they were capable of? Why the censorship and lousy remix. It's a great album, but it wasn't the gig i was at. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars a traffic jam? a traffic jam that moves and moves and moves maybe...
OH MY WHAT HAVE WE HERE?!!!! i have to admit I am only a technology novice, so this is a review just on the music:10 stars. easily one of the best live jazz/blues/international/folk/jambandrock albums ever.very well played. This cd smokes. what a joy.wish I had scene this tour.Very magical music playing. the band is very good, everyone rips it up. crowd is into as well. you can tell this music was very much enjoyed by those present.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great music, but could have been better
This is also available in DVD as a concert video. Both this CD and the DVD have some problems with the execution and mechanics. But, there is some great music here.
5-0 out of 5 stars Take This Highway!
Okay so the packaging and track listings etc are not perfect. And why did we wait ten years for this release? THIS IS A GREAT LIVE RECORDING OF A GREAT CLASSIC BAND. And with Wood and Capaldi gone, it is definitive. Best live they ever released? Maybe. More focused than CANTEEN, less rambling than ON THE ROAD. Choice of songs is perfect. The version of Dear Mr. Fantasy with Garcia is maybe not the strongest version of that tune released but mostly due to Garcia's meandering lead lines, Winwood is on fire throughout. If you have ever loved Traffic in any incarnation, do yourself the favor and take this highway into the traffic jam. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars On every who's cd?
Actually Garth Hudson, the former organist of the Band does not play on this cd (nor 'every geriatric rockstar's'). The musician you might be referring to is Al Garth ex of Loggins/Messina

3-0 out of 5 stars Competent...Confident...No Surprises...a Good Listen
Touring for his Strange Weather disk, Frey hits Ireland like a storm and records his effort for both video and audio. Its a good set of material overall. Not surprisingly, it digs deep in the Strange Weather track list with some good and not so good moments.'I've Got Mine' and 'Love in the 21st Century' are a bit cliched but exeedingly catchy.'River of Dreams' and 'True Love' are even more cliched and instantly forgetable (I mean really, a song called True Love?!? And didn't Billy Joel do a 'River of Dreams' about the same time?).The one exquisite ballad from the album is missing from this set...Part of Me/Part of You.There are some bootlegs of this concert that actually have that song.4-0 out of 5 stars A pleasant slice of mature pop and classic Eagles songs
This fine live album, recorded in Dublin, Ireland in the summer of 1992, contains superb versions of some of Glenn Frey's best solo material, as well as faithful renditions of several Eagles tunes.Read more

The Belfast Cowboy is one of the most mercurial and gloriously inconsistent live performers of his generation, as notorious for his onstage sulks and autopilot off-nights as he is justly celebrated for incandescent live sets that burn in the memory. This 1994 double-CD set, Van Morrison's third solo live album, doesn't surpass either his mid-'70s triumph, Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars To "mr. I'm not impressed"
Sorry "I'm not impressed" but you clearly missed the boat of your review. I sugguest you LISTEN to the audience reaction to Vans performance that night. He was truely brilliant and this is one of the "live" CDs ever. Van does not have to reinvent himself into anything. He's already a great singer, songwriter and performer and if some people can not see this I truly pitty them. His back-up band is session-quality, they're that good! Been listening the greatness of VM since I first saw him on ABC's In Concert in 1974. To those out there on the fence about this CD I say buy it and enjoy it. Good luck finding it however, it's out of print.

2-0 out of 5 stars I'm not impressed
I like this version of Tupelo Honey but other than that, it sounds like Van's is trying to reinvent himself as a lounge singer. Don't get me wrong, he truly deserves to be called "The Man", but this is the soft-rock crap that most of his detractors despise. Elsewhere he makes good songs, both his own (Moondance, Gloria) and others (T-Bone Walker's Stormy Monday, Freddie King's Have You Ever Loved a Woman?, Sly Stone's Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin), James Brown's It's a Man's Man's Man's World) bad. I hate it when people do that. Loyal sidekick Georgie Fame is about as good as his name suggests (in other words, not at all), and it lacks the haunting mystique of Astral Weeks or the joy of Moondance. I listened to it once, and never played anything but Tupelo Honey again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Twenty-fiveyears later, it just gets better!
I got this album for Christmas during my sophmore year in high school shortly after its release and I truly enjoyed it through college and beyond. But, in the early '80's, I boxed and then lost most of my records.I finally replaced it and recieved it yesterday. After twenty-five years, it is better than ever. It dove tails perfectly with "Welcome to the Canteen".Great music.
4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Album
I bought this album in 1973 after it received an excellent review from Richard Williams in the London Times. Most Americans have probably never heard of Williams, but he was also a presenter on the Old Grey Whistle Test, an influential TV rock show in the UK. I was something of a rock snob and already owned Welcome to the Canteen so I had to buy this album. It's an album I still love, but it's not for everybody.
4-0 out of 5 stars Remastered and Expanded -- Worth Every Penny
I echo all of the laudatory and well-written reviews already posted on this landmark live album, documenting a progressive, loose, and inspired Traffic opening up and lighting on fire a mesmerizing set off their 1973 world tour.I write to speak about the sonics -- they're great, the remastering is top-notch, never before has Capaldi's intricate and astonishing drum work sounded better. With over 70 minutes of music spread over six songs, every moment still manages to be a keeper. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Boy it's SO Good hearing this music again!
For some reason I wasn't expecting much of their reunion tour, so I didn't go when they came to the area.My husband got me the DVD for Christmas and I had to have the CD.I was a Loggins fan for many years starting in 1980, spending many teen and 20s days listening to old L and M 33s and tapes. If you like L & M music at all buy this CD.The musicians are SO excellent.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Terrific -- if Somewhat Misleading -- Place to Start
I got on the Blooze Bandwagon (along with Elton & Bernie & Gus Dudgeon doing "Funeral for a Friend" on "Yellow Brick Road" and other assorted flights of fanstasy) a day or two after I'd taken the THC plunge with so many others in 1973.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Christmas of 2005
I am a 19 year old hooked on the Moody Blues (ironic isn't it??). Back in my early years, my mother got me hooked on the Moody Blues because we both saw the "A Night at Red Rocks" concert (which I bought on DVD before asking for the Deluxe Edition) on PBS during a donation drive. From then on, I have been a fan of the Moody Blues. My mom originally owns the single disc version of this concert on CD with less tracks than the Deluxe Edition, and let me just say I borrowed it for a long period of time. So for Christmas 2005, I asked for the Deluxe Edition of the concert, and I couldn't be more happier. This CD has the entire concert that took place on that thursday evening in September back in 1992. It is digitally remastered and even has dialogue between the music. I am right now on the fourth time of listening to the CD on my DiscMan. For the record, also, my mother was happy because after I opened this gift I went upstairs to my room, brought down her gift, and said "Merry Christmas, Mother, here is your CD." Unfortunately, she is raging with jealousy since my CD has more tracks on it.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Live Moody Blues Album
A NIGHT AT RED ROCKS WITH THE COLORADO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA is an exceptional Moody Blues live album that shreds CAUGHT LIVE+5 for two reasons. First of all, the earlier live album had actually been cut in 1969, when the band was high on drugs and/or drunk. Secondly, G-d created Red Rocks Ampitheater with excellent acoustics, so you can hear each instrument on its own AND as part of the whole group. The songs are all acknowledged classics, and this setting shows how Justin Hayward's, John Lodge's, and Ray Thomas's voices have deepened and matured over the years. This album is an important addition to any Moody Blues collection. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The King Still Rocks !!
BMG are really doing a great job with Elvis Presley Box Sets of late and they do deliver once again with this one...Sure, we have heard all of the songs before but the beauty here is that we also get snippets from the early Las Vegas appearances in '56. The rawness of Heartbreak Hotel is still spine-tingling. For a young performer, he still showed at this young age to possess charm and charisma as he wooed the crowd. It is a good collection from some of this best 'live' performances spanning 19yrs ('56-'75)that really capture the magic that only Elvis had. Why did I not give it a '5' ? -beacuse you do get repetition over the 4 CD's. Nevertheless, the king still delivers, even from beyond the grave! - Really for Elvis fans, but will still please the casual observer.

5-0 out of 5 stars No better Elvis set
Every Elvis song you can think of - all performed live!
5-0 out of 5 stars simply.... THE KING !
To address a previous reviewer (Timothy Carey "vicvega2003" ) who retardedly suggested giving the King title to another performer... he obviously has not seen ELVIS THAT'S THE WAY IT IS (concert), much of this music is of that period. The early 70's is what really made elvis king.Might I also remind people of Mr. Carey's ilk, that is the public who gave this title to Elvis.Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, or Chuck Berry should be king?Survey says.... NO ! ... Read more

Really nice CD - I listen to this one over and over. It's a lot of fun to watch - the whole band is very clearly enjoying themselves, and it shows. The sound is great, the songs all build on each other, and it's a great CD to work out to or drive to.

I was watching the Latin Grammy Awards last week when I learned that La Ley was disbanding.I was dismayed, especially when the group proceeded to perform an electrifying set that rocked the house.

If you are not familiar with La Ley I recommend you buy this CD and go back and buy the rest of their CD's. Beto Cuevas has a talent he has a remarkable voice it's indescribable. Hear it and you'll know what I'm talking about, you'll fall in love (if your a girl :))pair that up with the music and you have a hit.He can sing unplugged and it's so perfect that you think your hearing the radio version. It seems like only yesterday that Seal swept into the scene with his self titled debut. This is probably his best release yet - a seamless DVD and Cd of great music. If you're new to Seal - it's a great place to start. If you're a fan - the other reviews say it all.A worthy release.

5-0 out of 5 stars Seal Live: Excellent !!!
I always liked the Seal's albums because of his lyrics and excellent voice, but the album "Live in Paris" exceeded my expectations: outstanding performance, marvelous voice, spotless sound, good selection of songs (sadly, the album doesn't include "Newborn Friend", otherwise it would be perfect). Waiting (for a long time) his live album, I'm truly satisfied with Live in Paris. An advice: buy the CD+DVD album, worth the price. Editorial Review

This two-CD set adds unreleased tracks to what was already a superb representation of Tony Bennett's art, the 1962 concert catching Bennett at an early peak in his career. He was already a major exponent of the classic American songbook, and here he's both summarizing his work and branching out into then-new directions. He's equally effective as a ballad singer, including seldom-heard gems like Kurt Weill's "Lost in the Stars," and as a rousing jazz stylist, swinging effortlessly on familiar tunes like "All the Things You Are" and "Chicago." The concert includes a rendition of "I Left My Heart in San Francisco," a song that had just been released at the time. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Tony's voice never better!
Although my mother often played Tony Bennett albums while I was growing up I never appreciated his talent at the time (growing up in the 70s).Like many I never got past Frank and Sammy.A few years ago I rediscovered Tony through the MTV unplugged sessions.Although the MTV CD is great, IMHO, this one blows it away. The song selections and arrangements are terrific and Tony's voice shines throughout. This CD covers almost all of Tony's great hits from that era and has the added benefit of spontaneity found in a live performance combined with Ralph Sharon's exception playing and big band.Believe me these songs swing! There are a lot of up-tempo arrangements on this CD and just too many great songs to mention only a few.Tony's voice and phrasing are uniquely different from his peers and that's what makes this CD such a gem.We are lucky that we live in an age where we have so much access to so many diverse artists from so many different eras.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Ever
To the last reviewer, I saw both Garland and Bennett in separate concerts in Boston not long after their respective Carnegie Hall shows. Judy gave the best performance I have ever seen, Tony was not far behind.
4-0 out of 5 stars Terrific concert, but sound quality is average.
I like a great collection of songs where the speakers vibrate, and the furniture moves. Judy Garland could do it at Carnegie Hall. Tony Bennett, on the other hand, sings some songs with gusto, but that first CD just doesn't cut it for me. I had to turn up the stereo several times on the weaker tunes, and when he hit the torch songs, I had to turn the stereo down. Could someone at Columbia remaster this fine concert??? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Reel to Reel Revisited
I loved the original in reel to reel about 40 some years ago.the different style for Harry was what first drew me. The inclusion of Nana, and all in another language, make this a CD to quietly enjoy.I loved the passion and feeling in each selection.

5-0 out of 5 stars A fantastic album
The most sublime album of all time.Belafonte's rich and creamy tones coupled with Mouskouri's golden voice makes this album so unique. This album gets better and better after each hearing.Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars A romantic evening
Two of the worlds greatest vocalist come together in a quiet and soothing harmony of romance. Though sung in Greek (the Enlish translations are in an included booklet) the loving messages clearly come through. Listen to it twice and you'll be wanting more. Thankfully, you will be able to listen to it repeatedly once you have the CD. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Watch the movie...then listen to the music!
I remember when the movie premeired in the 70's with Kris and Barbra. The soundtrack has some great cuts on it but, to get the most of of your listening pleasure, I reccomend watching the movie first. Otherwise some of the cuts seem out of place in this complilation of songs. I've ordered the movie but it hasn't been released yet. I can't wait to see it again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great album title by Barbra Streisand!!!
This album by Barbra Streisand, which is a companion title to the movie of the same name from 1976, is one of her best selling titles ever. It contains 11 songs, 6 of which contain Barbra's beautiful singing voice (including the timeless "Evergreen"), 3 of them have Kris Kristofferson's vocals, and 2 have Barbra and Kris singing together. This was and still is a great movie and this album was a hot seller when it was first released in late '76 and was at the top of the charts for quite a long time. The music on this album is wonderful. I mainly prefer Barbra's songs on this title more than Kris' songs. His material on this was okay; his performance was not too bad in the movie. I am not very familiar with any of Kris' other material that he did during his singing career before or after doing the movie. Anyway, I love this album (and the movie, too). I am looking forward to getting the movie on DVD sometime soon. I don't quite understand why the movie wasn't available on DVD before, but Barbra's fans will be looking forward to getting it soon. I have this album on LP (3 copies, believe it or not) and on CD. No Barbra Streisand music collection is complete without this title. Get it while you can!!! Now, I am going to give a brief summary of each of the eleven songs on this album:

5-0 out of 5 stars It's ok.
"Welcome to the Freak Show" 5-0 out of 5 stars dc Talk LIVE
This album is awesome.Welcome to the Freak Show combines a lot of dc Talk's greatest hits in a live recording. My favorite song on this album is "What if I Stumble."Most live albums crank up the volume on the crowd noises and it gets annoying after the first three songs. In this album the crowd noise adds to it.You actually get the full experience. If you enjoy this album I would check out Smalltown poets and Audio Adrenaline.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fittingly great as they're amazing live
I've seen many concerts from many different acts in various genres but none can hold a candle to dc Talk. When you take that stage performance and great songs you come up with this cd and the live video that is also sold. The stage presence comes across on the cd the same way a smile comes across on a telephone. You can't see the smile, but you can hear it in the voice. One of my favorite songs on this cd is a 'new' version of The Hardway. It's different than you've heard on an earlier studio album and I think much better. With live albums one of the fears is usually the sound quality and the crowd noise. This particular cd has great sound quality and only has crowd noise when applicable. If you're a fan of dc Talk buy this cd and the video of them live in concert - I guarantee you'll thoroughly enjoy them both. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT GREAT CD
I saw the video version on PBS. I was so excited about getting the CD. All the songs are fabulous. But, hey, afterall Huey Lewis and the News are fantastic. I rock out in my car with this CD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally a LIVE album!
Huey Lewis and the News is one of those bands that sound better live - and this CD sure proves it. I've seen them three times in person and they are amazing!
4-0 out of 5 stars Great sound tracks but........
I was thrilled to see a Dvd by Huey and the News, as I threw out my vcr and haven't been able to find a dvd of his music. Anyhow the other writer was right about not having Chris Hayes and Mario in the group but the new members did a good job. The music was good (though I think Huey had to bring the keys down a little ,getting older and harder to hit those high notes. Also, didn't have quite the high energy he used to have. My main complaint was that the video was poor. Too dark on stage and just plain poor.( Maybe it was intentional to hide the wrinkles)lol

5-0 out of 5 stars An Amazing Album
Admittedly, I wasn't a fan of Sister Hazel until I saw them perform at the House of Blues back in 2001, but I went out and got their entire catalog shortly after that amazing show. They may have been the opening band (Vertical Horizon was the main act), but honestly, their performance was the pinnacle of the night for me.
5-0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT Album!
This is truly a great (2 CD) album. Not only in terms of content, but also in terms of recording levels, etc.
5-0 out of 5 stars I was there!
WOW this was an AWESOME concert. I was at the Tampa concert at the masquerade, and it was truly amazing. Everyone, and i mean EVERYONE was singing along with the songs, the band was amazing and actually made two encores. I have never seen an entire audience know all the words to every song. The energy was truly unique, i understand why they chose this venue to record thier flawless preformance. this cd its a true representation of thier amazing live preformance ability, i recommend this album! ... Editorial Review

Boss boosters who paid an import premium five years back to own this supposedly never-to-be-released-in-America live set won't be thrilled to see its mid-price release. The large, post E-Street band is solid but predictable, though all this set does is remind listeners of the big mystery: Why doesn't Springsteen follow the lead of his brilliant Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Quite good
I grew up listening to Bruce's music, official and bootlegged, so much it's part of my DNA. I like Bruce, though not as feverently as my siblings.Reading what I've read, and hearing what I'm hearing for the first time, I think the Plugged cd is quite good. Older songs are refreshed, newer songs, dripping with energy. I know how good the E Street Band are, believe me, but this band he was playing with enabled Bruce to do something different, and perhaps to do something basically for himself. I think he succeeded in a big way. A chance to play with other people and reinterpret his catalog. Dylan does it all the time, and everyone knows about the history of comparison between those two. Regretfully the 'fans' couldn't accept the change.

2-0 out of 5 stars MTV Plugged?
I'm a big fan of "The Boss", but for the life of me, can't fathom why he is unable to follow the lead of larger acts, and actually "unplug" for MTV Unplugged. This CD offers no new material that can't be found elsewhere, and is basically nothing more than a "live in concert" CD that just so happened to be filmed by MTV.
4-0 out of 5 stars A nice little record
I can't help but wonder why MTV allowed Bruce Springsteen to play a regular electric "club date" instead of actually playing unplugged. There are hours of live Springsteen available, but only a few acoustic songs, and it would have been a lot more interesting to hear him recast some of his songs in an acoustic format.

"Live And More" (1978) is one of the best albums I have ever heard from Ms. Donna Summer. Let me take you on the journey she led me on:
