Fun Music
This is a great country/pop blend of music.It's 1 of my favorite cd's ever since I bought it.I love their vocal blends.

Michelle Branch goes Country
I am a longtime fan of Michelle Branch and of both her previous albums--Spirit Room and Hotel Paper.When I heard she had joined up with another female singer and started a duo, I was interested, though somewhat dismayed by the delay of their album release.When I finally learned that it came out, I balked to learn that it was classified as Country.After all, I am not a Country fan, and greatly preferred the somewhat pop/rock turning towards alternative feel of Branch's first two CDs.But after listening to samples of songs on Amazon and iTunes, I decided to give the CD a shot anyway--Michelle Branch, to this day, remains the only singer I have enough confidence in my enjoying her music that I would buy one of her albums entirely on blind faith.
Pretty and Talented
It seems like just yesterday that Michelle Branch delivered to us a little bit of this and a little bit of that with Santana.Now, a few hits and a few years later we find her turning her back on the modern/alternative rock radio stations that were rumored to be a thorn in her side.Michelle teams up with Jessica Harp to deliver an Alt-Country cd that, at times, sounds like Sheryl Crow meets the Dixie Chicks. Tim McGraw's second greatest-hits collection in six years is also his ninth consecutive debut at #1 on the Billboard country charts. That means he must be doing something right. (Almost) all things Tori you'd ever want
After years of whispers, promises and delays, finally here comes the Tori Amos box set, and what a delight it is for Tori fans.
Great overview of Tori, but
it's overwhelming.I'm not going to summarize the set in general, because the other reviewers have already done so.I'm going to say that Tori has maybe three emotions she expresses through music:sadness, anger, and wistfulness.The result is a relentlessly downbeat CD collection.Even when the beat is more uptempo, the lyrics are depressing, so it's semi-cheerful as long as you don't know what the songs are about.
AMAZING BOX SET - now stop complaining about omissions!
This box set is sooooooooo great & well worth the wait.We get a glimpse of the struggle she must have went through picking the right grrrls at the time her albums were released.How daunting must have it been to choose between China and Flying Dutchman or Upside Down...between Datura and Zero Point...to add just one more song that was sooooooo good it deserved it's own single, let alone be left off the album entirely (Take To The Sky, Sugar)? Landmark
If all documentation of music was destroyed (99% of today's music should be anyways)this album would be the only blueprint needed for an ALBUM.

Definitely the best
Even more than Pepper, I think this was the album that changed pop music forever. I was in the UK and a teen at the time, and I have to admit it took several listenings and a healthy dose of illegal srimulants to figure it out. Today the music is still revolutionary and I no longer need the stimulants (sniff) but it ranks as one of the best 5 albums of all time

Whose Top 10?
I've no designs on being iconoclastic or a hater or anything like that, so before you read on, please understand that. I fully understand that Beatles fans can be a fanatically loyal bunch who back up their beliefs with scores of critical support from the "experts" who have annointed the Beatles as kings of rock and roll music and innovators of all sorts of styles, production values, and other musical milestones. One reviewer even had the audacity to say that this album was "unquestionably" one of the greatest works of art of the 20th century. Well, I certainly question it. Am I able to say that "Road to Ruin" by The Ramones is unquestionably one of the greatest works of art of the 20th century as well? Why not? It's all subjective no matter how much one wants to convey their expertise. This album is good but there are dozens I'd rather hear instead and that criterion alone is the sole one I use to rate albums. As with so much of the Beatles, a bit less of the excessive banner waving and veneration would be a nice change.

Solomon's Country Heart
As a previous reviewer already pointed out, at least in terms of artistic depth if not style, Nashville is a worthy successor to the wonderful "Don't Give Up On Me."

Solomon Burke singing country is the best thing to happen to Nashville.Take an artist who is always exactly who he is, bring in the finest producer (Buddy Miller), the finest musicians and writers and the finest duet pairings (Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Gillian Welch, Patty Griffin and Patty Loveless) to surround him and 14 songs later, you have yourself your favorite cd - like an old friend.It isn't Solomon Burke "playing cowboy."It is Solomon Burke being Solomon Burke and offering a point of view that fervently honors country music.

I am another long-time fan of Burke's, and am rapturous over his revitalized career. 'Nashville' picks up where the brilliant 'Don't Give Up On Me' left off, with Burke again wrapping his warm, rich pipes around songs worthy of them.

Few bands of the 1960s retained as much a sense of the roots of rock and roll as did Creedence Clearwater Revival. Their music is rife with country, rockabilly, and R&B influences, a combination that produced several hit singles--most of which are present on this collection. These include "I Heard It through the Grapevine," "Lodi," "Up Around the B ," "Who'll Stop the Rain," and of course "Bad Moon Rising." I understand why the Beatles are the top sellers in rock music as they suck. They only made about two decent songs in their "Hey Jude" a pretty song, and "Ballad Of John And Yoko". The sixties was a horrible decade of rock music. I would have to be said that only very few good songs came out in the sixties, which one of them is Neil Young's "Down By The River".

This is the first attempt to consolidate all of Sir Elton's hit singles, from three labels, in one collection. It once would've required at least four CDs to own the best stuff here. Many think the legendary performer was at his best in the early to mid-'70s, and the incredible string of singles that ran from 1970's "Your Song" through 1977's "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word" remains mighty impressive. But in retrospect, as they're presented here, '80s hits like "I'm Still Standing" and "Sad Songs" add much to an already amazing legacy. From what I can tell, Disc 1 should have been 2 discs.
I'm an old Elton John / Bernie Taupin fan. That time was Elton's most creative period, and where the most hits came out (both on AM and FM radio). Disc 1 has a lot of great hits, but has a lot missing (including entire albums). On a minor point, there is nothing from Empty Sky (this is OK - it wasn't that great of an album, but should have been represented by something). On a major point, nothing came from (the incredibly great) Tumbleweed Connection. That album had (at least) 4 great hits (Amoreena, My Father's Gun, Country Comfort, and Burn Down The Mission). With those 2 omissions, lets go through the rest of the John / Taupin library.
Amazing!
I simply LOVE this album.Elton John is a phenomenal artist.His lyrical flow soothes my soul.This album is definitely my comfort music when I'm sad, and my fun music when I'm happy.I pop in my cd while I'm driving down the road and it feels as though I'm taking a stroll down memory lane.These songs fill my heart with wonderful memories and I find myself putting certain songs on repeat.I recommend this CD to anyone who wants to hear some good music.

The first cd is devoted exclusively to Elton John's Greatest Hits from the 1970s. This is all right, because many of Elton's long time fans will agree that this was his most creative and prolific period. You get Bennie and the Jets, Crocodile Rock, Honky Cat, Good bye Yellow Brick Road, Philadelphia Freedom, and much more.

Not their best, but not horrible
I have every album these guys have put out, and I must admit I was a but dissapointed when I listened to this concert. The thing about DMB is that they are always changing and trying new things. The addition of Rashawn Ross is great for the new songs, but hearing him play on the old songs takes some getting used to. Out of all the songs my favorite would have to be "Break Free." It is by far their best new song in a long time. Another problem with this show is that they made separate tracks for some of the songs that lead into other songs. I like to hear "Pantala Naga Pampa" go right into "Rapunzel" and "So Much to Say" go into "Anyone seen the Bridge." If you have it on an MP3 player it doesn't flow all that well. If you want a really good concert pick up "Live at Central Park," it's their best live album outside of the Live Trax Series.

nice collection of songs, but...
it just doesn't sound quite right.I am a big fan of being able to hear the crowd reaction on live albums and for the most part you would never know anyone was there.Of the live DMB performances I have, this has to be my least favorite.

Disappointing
This is a pretty poor set from DMB.While the rest of the band is, for the most part, in fine form, Dave's voice has never sounded more brittle.He is painfully off-key at times, in almost every song.Sad to say but I would recommend every other live album the band has released (and there's a lot) before recommending this one.A set for completists only.

Everything old is new again
A friend introduced me to two songs from this group and I got hooked and ordered a few CDs.I've listened to this one over and over again and while I like some songs more than others it was definitely money well spent.
Oldtimer likes it too
I've been a fan of Pink Floyd since the 70's.I never much cared for the whole disco movement in the 80's, so why do I like this album so much?Maybe it's just that good.

Good stuff.
Don't pay attention to people leaving one star reviews, all they have to say about the album is that they can't believe that anyone has the nerve to cover Comfortably Numb this way.

Pop's rush to raid the cradle continues with this promising debut by 25-year-old Canadian singer Michael Bublé. And while the young vocal star's good looks are smart enough for a boy band, his muse seems to have sprung from a more sassy and compelling musical era. While we've heard them time and time again - Buble takes the classic standards and adds his own twist. No, maybe there is nothing terribly new going on - but he didn't mutilate the music either.Relaxing - Just lovely.

Rare to find - an entire CD of excellent music!
Michael Buble is simply incredible, and although I do own all of his CDs it's this one that I come back to time and time again.This is the perfect CD to play while sipping a glass of wine or enjoying dinner with friends.It's slow and sensual at times and then lively and fun.I simply cannot say enough good about this artist or this CD.

'Standards Lite'
While certainly a better presentation than the Rod Stewarts and Michael Boltons of the world and their flaccid stabs at music way different from a rocker's sensibilities, Buble is a standards singer for those who think Kenny G is a jazz musician and John Tesh is a pianist.

The performances contained in this CD demonstrate a song stylist master at work.Rod has simply taken all the talent,creativity and energy he has remaining and applied it to these masterpieces.Everyone associated with this recording must certainly be proud of their musical endeavors.In all candor,after listening to this CD for several repeated plays,I can honestly state the the American listening public richly deserves this product. Rod has shown the American Idols winners, and losers, how it's done. They, and other musical hopefuls, can certainly take a page from Rod's "playbook", on how to conduct asuccessful longterm career in show business.I suspect that Rod has modeled his career from the great singer and showmanCliff "Ukelele Ike" Edwards.
