4-0 out of 5 stars Dance without words and fun music with words
This CD set turned out to be different than I was expecting.I thought that the songs were going to be mostly like "You Think You're a Man" by Full Frontal (on CD #2), which I purchased previously on its own as a single.Turns out that CD #1 is almost entirely dance music without lyrics (okay, except for the occasional repeated catchphrase, the T.V. Series themesong, and "It's Raining Men").Good music, but not what I was looking for.CD #2 has a lot more songs which include lyrics, which is a lot closer to what I was looking for, and I really enjoyed them.I especially enjoyed trying to remember who the original artists were on some of the cover songs, and for other songs trying to figure out if some of the artists on the CD were the original artists or doing covers.Often, I hate cover versions of songs, but I really like the covers (and/or originals?) on this CD set; they're different from the other verisons; more fun :-)
5-0 out of 5 stars Dressed in Something Sparkly on a Hot Summer Night!
That's how these CDs make me feel! You will not even MISS the original singers on these remixes, but you will be bringing these discs to every party you attend this summer!

You can listen to disk one once and just put it away, but disk two will take you to Babylon! I've enjoyed it over and over. It's a high-energy dance mix. ... Read more

Editorial Review

You might call this gay-and-proud San Francisco combo the happy face of homocore, what with the way it couches its subtle and not-so-subtle sexual subtext in humor and punchy punk-pop riffs. Catchy enough to go over big as an opening act for Green Day's '94 arena tour and subversive enough to be hailed as gender terrorists, Jon Ginoli and company are just as effective going for the funny bone ("Pee Shy"), the heartstrings ("I Really Wanted You") and the, er, regions in between ("Dick of Death"). And no, you don't have to be gay to sing along. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Another masterpiece!
Pansy Division is just the best damn gay band I've ever found; unlike most gay music, they've actually got an edge, which is sure to appeal to any queer fan of heavier music. This album has a lot of fun, catchy numbers, along with some more serious and sweet songs. It makes for a fabulous combination; every queer person should own this CD!

5-0 out of 5 stars Unusual but Good
I have never heard a rock group do songs like this. Okay, so they're not they best singers in the world, it does not take much away from meaning of the songs. It's nice to know there is a music group being true to themselves. The music is also hard but not too hard. Pick up a copy if you can handle the uncompromising lyrics.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pansy Division's Soft Punk Blitzlieb
The first song on this CD paints a picture of where the rest of it is headed. "[Colloquialism for 'Erotically Desirous'] in the Morning" sings of waking up engorged and wanting. This is a gay-themed, erotic but not pornographic bit of soft punk. Puerile but fun--not for homophobes or Mrs. Grundy. Read more

"Move Back Home" is a great album with a lighter edge. This album is great for fans of "Love Songs for the Retarded" and "Punk Rock Confidential" because it has a very similar sound. A must have for fans of the Queers.

2-0 out of 5 stars le tigre train?
this album is really pretty disappointing. the group has lost a chick, added a dude, and.... guitars. alot of guitar. so it's like, gravy train!!!! wanted to be more of a "band" or something. it sounds like knockoff le tigre with chanty punky sounding songs. no funny rap songs to be found here. and lead singer "chunx" seems to be singing WAY too much. homegirl aint got the best voice, and i wish she wouldve stuck with funny rapping with uber-homo "hunx". no fun "you made me gay" or "double decker supreme" here. which totally sucks cuz the other train!!!! album totally rules. it had a real diy, badly-recorded quality that made it feel way cult-y. this album sounds like it was produced to sound lo-fi on purpose. oh well. their live shows still rule.

5-0 out of 5 stars loves it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Snotty Punk Rock
This is an awesome album for fans of snotty punk rock. The music is fast and melodic, with great, silly in your face lyrics. For fans of Beat Off this is a must-buy album, while it doesn't have the surfy songs ofBeat-Off, the rest of the album is very similar to the punky songs of BeatOff.I recommend this album for fans of Ramones influenced, snotty, sillypunk.

suzanne westenhoefer is one of my favorite comedians ever.she really knows how to tell a joke.i cant even drive a car while im listening to her for fear of crashing.not just for lesbians...this is for everyone...but lesbians will definitely find this much much funnier.support the lesbian comedians and buy this album, her others, and all the lesbian comedian albums.lets bring it all out more to the public.

5-0 out of 5 stars FIVE-PLUS STARS!
I've seen Suzanne twice and have her first cd.However, I have never wet my pants like I wet my pants when I listened to this.It made me laugh so hard it hurt.I've made others listen to it too and everyone loves it.If you buy any comedy cd (I don't care if you're gay, straight, or whatever), THIS IS THE ONE!

5-0 out of 5 stars The woman made me laugh off my seat!
She is funny, funky and just plain wonderful.A comedian who delivers the goods at the right time every time. Her assertive yet self depricating manner works really well and her punchlines are right on the mark.I simply love her and wish she would release a third CD.Gay or straight you wont keep yourself from laughing. This is especially true when she starts talking about her home, her girlfriend and their pets.Keep up the good work suzanne! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Fun
This a a very fun C.D. that like the title promises delivers Total Entertainment. Like the other reviewer I had the opportuity to hear the material from this album played live and the crowd loved the new material as much as the old. What does need to be said though is that Pansy Division's C.D.S do not capture the incredible energy of the band in a live setting.Never the less, Tracks like "No Protection" and "He whipped my ass in tennis..." and the secret bonus track, are classic Pansy Division, conveying both a sense of humor and liberation that are hallmarks of the band.

3-0 out of 5 stars Getting Old ?
Been listening to their albums and traveling to Pansy Division's concerts for 11 years now.Brought this CD, Total Entertainment within days of its release. And after 4 months of on and off listening, I have decided:No songs from this CD will be burned to a CD of favorites. At the recent concert in Atlanta, the new stuff got played, but what excited the crowd, (all 30 of us), was the older music. If Jon Ginoli hadn't announced it at the start of the concert, I doubt anyone there knew that the theme of Total Entertainment was 'sports'.The high energy and fun found on the first 6 albums is missing from this album.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Pop Punk
This is a CD I have owned for years, but I never get bored of lsitening to.It's pretty much a Pop Punk masterpiece. The Queers are a band rooted in an older punk style, but who helped influence the new.I guess that could be seen as either a good or bad thing, but back to the point..if you like any of the newer punk bands out there you should really check out this CD.This is as good as it gets.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pop Punk Classic
Hey Punkrockers! This is one of the classics. When you're into cool pop punk like Ramones, Screeching Weasel, Undertones, then this is the CD for you. It's on the same level as Love Songs For The Retearded, but this here is much poppier. Would be a great point to start if you're new to The Queers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Punk!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars hmm...
Well, I understand if you are not into pop sounding music. But, not all feminist bands are suppose to have one sound to them. It's about being open minded I thought. I think we should appreciate it and not alienate the difference in sound...because aren't we all on the same level of feminist belief? Besides all that this is a good album, which would be the only album I have heard of theirs. Thanks for reading my review.

2-0 out of 5 stars a bit too poppy for my taste really.
if your into babes in toyland, heavens to betsy, and bikini kill and more interesting bands like that, i think you'll be quite disappointed with this.1-0 out of 5 stars Run of the Mill ...and NOT BUTCH ENOUGH

5-0 out of 5 stars these pansies know how to rock!!!!!!
the inside cover is pretty nasty. this band has very catchy songs. the songs are really funny. songs like bunnies, fem in a black leather jacket, and rock and roll queer bar are poppy, catchy, and funny. they are not afraid to express there love of gay life. this band should have been as big as green day or the offspring. all the lyrics are fulled with queerness. this is a pop punk band that likes to have fun with there love for guys. pansy division is such a underated band. more people should check out this band. this is a good band.

5-0 out of 5 stars Original queer punk-pop.

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the best comps ever
i got into a LOT of bands because of this compliation. it is varied, but nearly all the tracks are outstanding. amazon needs to fix their filing of this because it doesn't show up in the Kill Rock Stars series list with the other 2 (kill rock stars and stars kill rock). highly recommended. it doesn't say it on the track list but "Puffin Stars" is by Helium and is the only place to get that track.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good compilation, but ironic medium
This is a good compilation from the Kill Rock Stars label. All the artists are punk rock or indie or whatever. I came to the record attracted by the Boredoms and Free Kitten songs. But a lot of the other artists I hadn't heard of turned out to be really good. This compilation might just serve as an introduction to these artists but the album is fun to listen to by itself too. I bought the LP version and have never seen the CD. It's really rather funny they did release this on CD because this record is clearly anti-CD. On the LP there is an essay by Sun Ra which explains that CDs are the lie which the industry uses to over charge the consumers. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars thank god for queers!
This album is a lot like "A Day Late And A Dollar Short" or "Beyond The Valley". Hard punk, less pop. Loud, fast and lacking of smooth studio polish. The way punk should be. I can't make out one word in "Junk Freak", but it's one of my favorite Queer's songs ever. And "Boobarella" and "Gay Boy" give this album the strong abbrasive political incorrectness that Joe King is the master of. BUY THIS ALBUM!

Although the title of this CD may prevent some not to purchaseit they would be in error for it is a great Cd very funny andrefreshing.... Even the casual listener ... will find it amusing.Allthree comedians featured on the disk are unique in their approach anddeliver their punchlines well timed and more often then not with atwist. I wish Delaria would put out more albums like this one. Her voice and interpretation of the songs on the album are really great and withstand lots of repeat plays. Highly recommended. Many of the cuts are worth 5 stars, but I didn't really like all of her song choices, so that's why I rated the album 4 stars.
