5-0 out of 5 stars Never Gets Old
When you compile the list of the 10 albums you would want if you were stranded on a desert island, this one might possibly get the most votes. Not only is it one of the all-time greats, but it is a double album, which has to factor into it.
5-0 out of 5 stars can't hammer this down
This is the greates pinkfloyd cd ever but I would not recemond this to the little kids. IN the cd. You can feel his amotions in this also there is another one live but it has diffrent songs but not bad so please buy this

i remember the first time i listened to the wall. and i was blown away. the lyrics and the music were so strong and emotional. when my friend that i was listening to it with asked me if i liked it or not i didnt know what to say. i like the wall better then dark side of the moon. and thats really saying something. the wall has all kinds of music styles in it so every one that listens to it should pretty much enjoy it. like run like hell and another brick in the wall part 2 are pretty heavy. and comfortably numb and hey you are preety soft. i think every music fan should buy this brilliant cd. peace out. ... Anyone looking for the key to Abba's enduring appeal should look no further than "Voulez Vous" and "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)" for their answer. There was an innocence to the Swedish quartet, even when they were singing about one-night stands and the invitations to them. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars ABBA Gold vs Mamma Mia
After seeing Mamma Mia in Las Vegas I purchased the ABBA Mamma Mia CD.Then I thought I would like to have the original songs and ordered the ABBA-Gold Greatest Hits.I enjoy it a lot; but I prefer the Mamma Mia CD which takes me back to the fun night of actually being in Las Vegas and seeing the musical.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love ABBA
ABBA is still going strong after all these years. Agnetha and Frida's voices are superb, especially in "Dancing Queen," one of their most famous songs.
5-0 out of 5 stars ABBA Rules
Music is relative, and the group Abba set a standard. Not everyone is an Abba fan, thank God. But for those who appreciate them, they are definitely here to stay. For me, Abba didn't begin to fully blossom until the last albums. THE VISITORS and SUPER TROUPER were excellent examples of how much imagination they truely had. To me, everything else was a springboard for them to grow. It's too bad they stopped just as they were beginning to grow. At least they left a hint of true genius. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Earth, Wind, and Fire Get Spectacular Compilation Treatment
Earth, Wind, and Fire was one of the most feel-good, uplifting, influential soul bands ever, and they will always be remembered for their diverse songs and exuberant performances in which many members got up on the stage and danced and sang.
5-0 out of 5 stars What a POSITIVE MESSAGE from the past
Just listen to "SING A SONG" and try not to sing along in a falsetto voice! It never ceases to amaze me that EWF's message was one of positivity, self esteem, and was UPLIFTING!
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent collection!
I bought this CD about a year ago.It is a dynamic, excellent collection of Earth, Wind & Fire's best songs. They go from 1973 to 1981 with the hits and even included the heavily requested Reasons. When I first heard them in 1978, I thought that their 1973, 1974, 1975 and 1976 hits were all new, all off of one new album. But these songs from various years just showed me the massive impact they had in the '70s.The live band, the emphasis on horns and a complete band playing music and tearing it up.And funky songs like September, Serpentine Fire, Getaway, Boogie Wonderland and others. Maurice White's knew what he wanted out of this band and they're still doing it over 35 years later with live performances in 2006! Although I miss Maurice in the band, Verdine White, Philip Bailey and this other fellow are keeping his dream alive.Other favorites I like are Let's Groove, That's the Way of the World, the mellow After the Love has Gone and others. They chose a good 17 for this collection, and while it's not the most perfect, it fully compiles their success of hits and well requested songs! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Everybody get down!
This is undoubtably one of the best soundtracks ever released.Ten of the 17 songs here were hits, including seven #1 hits.Of course, only about half the music here was specifically recorded for the movie.Specifically, the first four Bee Gees songs, the Yvonne Elliman song, the Tavares song and the instrumental score by David Shire were especially recorded for the film. The rest of the songs are a year or two older, and some of them had already been hits long before the movie came out.Of course, none of that detracts from the quality of the album. It's really fun to listen to, unless you're one of those people who insist that "disco sucks".

5-0 out of 5 stars you can't help but dance
Ahh....memories. This CD will bring back great memories of dancing the night away. I dare anyone to listen to these songs and NOT get up and start moving to the beat. Pure disco bliss!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Ahhh to be 19 in 1977...
The 1977 landmark film and this soundtrack that bore its name did the impossible - made Texas youngsters look at young people who lived in New York City as cultural role models, even if only for a brief period in time.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good but not great
I was really looking for all romantic/sexy type songs.Perhaps some people younger than I would consider these romantic, but not all of them are.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Greatest hit of Barry White
Like his forebear Isaac Hayes, White was not just a deep-voiced crooner, but a talented producer and arranger who'd spent years honing his craft behind the scenes in the industry. And like Hayes, White spent a great deal of time setting up moods on his albums, using lush, sweeping orchestrations to build very gradually to climaxes. It took quite a while for a definitive Barry White compilation to hit the market, but All-Time Greatest Hits part of Mercury's Funk Essentials series finally filled the bill in 1995. The total package made White an R&B love-man icon not just for the disco era, but all time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't get Enough of You, Barry White
Oh, Barry White. Wasn't he great? I miss the big guy. I just felt he knew soul frontwards and backwards and every way in between and this CD proves it. He had such a great voice and really knew how to use it.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Bee Gees Collection
I can remember a time in my youth when it wasn't very hip to like the Bee Gees (I realize this dates me a little bit). But times have changed, and the Bee Gees are now being appreciated and recognized as one of the premier pop acts of all time. This collection does an excellent job of covering the career of the Bee Gees, from their beginnings as a Beatle-esque act in 1967 (Massachusetts, Lonely Days) through their born again disco phase in the mid to late 1970s (Jive Talkin', Stayin' Alive, Night Fever, Tragedy), to the pop songs they wrote for others in the 1980s (Heartbreaker, Guilty, Islands in the Stream).
4-0 out of 5 stars Still Is Too Much Heaven
The music of the 70's really still captures so many memories of bell bottoms, Funk groups like The Commodores, and also some of the best guilty pleasures in great music from Elton John, James Taylor and especially The Bee Gees. Since they came out in the 60's, the groups has been one of the very few groups whose music still remains as universal and delightful as it was released years ago. Sadly, the group took a huge blow a few years ago with the heartbreaking death of Maurice Gibb. Recently, the music also took a big surprise as well. The groups catalog was moved from Universal and Polydor Records, to Warner Brothers label Reprise. Their hits have still remained to be as one.

KC and the Sunshine Band, led by Harry Wayne Casey, brought a bit of male bravado to the predominantly diva-led disco scene. KC and company incorporated a Caribbean feel to their music, with swelling--and staccato--horn parts and multilayered vocals. The repetition of the choruses of "Shake Your Booty" and "That's the Way (I Like It)" had every gold-chain wearing male on the dance floor singing along. While these hits, and "Get Down Tonight," are now disco cultural reference points, "Sound Your Funky Horn," a minor hit earlier in the band's career, has more of an island feel to it. Love it, love it, love it!!!Takes me back to the time I was stationed in Germany when I was in the Army. All his greatest songs are on the CD.I was hoping they would have pics of KC and his band back in the 70s.Sure enough, they do.It's a lot of fun listening to this CD.I am so happy I bought it from Amazon and so thrilled to own it so I can listen to it over and over again!!!
5-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS STILL A REAL BAND
In the last few years I have noticed that many of these so-called soul acts are basically singing along with prerecorded tracks. It's true. Many times there is not a band anywhere on stage, or if there is a band, some of the players may be playing along with the tracks. Not KC & the Sunshine Band. I had the good fortune to catch the act at a venue near Atlanta a few years ago. I was astounded at how great the show was. The musicians were incredible, and the band actually has a real horn section. They reproduced the old hits perfectlyandadded some new parts that made the songs soundvery fresh, almost like a new release. I am an old rock-n-roller, but I will go see this show again. I ordered the greatest hits Cd. If anyone reading this gets the chance, go see this act! ... Read more

This is definately one of the best - if not the best - soundtracks in the history of movie soundtracks. You cannot help but love it.It's so amazing.Yes it has that 80's feel, but to me it is timeless.I was 10 when this came out and I love it now even to this day.Manic, What A Feeling, Lady Lady Lady and Imagination are brilliant songs.Gloria was also in the movie but not on the cd.Well at least we got one fantastic song from the late great Laura Brannigan on here (Imagination).

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing.
Blondie is one of the greatest and most important bands in the history of pop/rock to have ever existed. While Grace Slick might have predated one-time Playboy bunny/vocalist Deborah Harry, Ms. Harry still set all of the standards as far as any future women in rock. She showed that it was possible for an extremely attractive female to front an all male backing band and do it with style, sex appeal and genuine raw talent while not coming across as a tramp.
5-0 out of 5 stars The best Blondie compilation out there
With a few options available for you to get your hands on Blondie's greatest hits, and pretty much little new to say about the guys that blended punk and new wave to perfection in their time, the one thing that can be claimed about this compilation is that it's the best one available. It covers pretty much everything you'd want to have by the band and the quality of the recordings is also the best one around.

5-0 out of 5 stars Iconic Memory Of Blondie Still Extent!
The works of Blondie are paragons of the new-wave punk genre on their own without any help of compilation or amassing, but the main priority needed to be mentioned is how one can adequately mix these supreme works of sound and emotion into such a phenomenal and superior mix, as an impressive result; "Blondie's Greatest Hits". From the disco upbeat of "Heart Of Glass" to the romanticly provocative single "Denis", from the tropical flare of "The Tide Is High" to the industrial beats and vocals of "The Hardest Part", this album mix, in the entirety of my life of being a Blondie aficionado and music collector, is one that surpasses any limit of Blondie's quality and proficiency, portraying to the world of their appeal, greatness and utter legacy. ... Editorial Review

In the path of enormously popular collections of number one singles by Elvis and the Beatles comes this crammed (seconds shy of the 80-minute mark) disc from another pop-culture icon, Diana Ross & the Supremes. 14 Diana Ross/Supremes tracks appear in some of their most vivid sound ever, while the post-Ross Supremes get their due with "Stoned Love." Ross’ Hollywood years make for the weakest music here ("Touch Me in the Morning," "Endless Love"), but disco smashes "Upside Down," "I’m Coming Out," and "The Boss" prove as smart, canny, and enduring as Supremes 45s like "You Keep Me Hangin’ On" and "Reflections." The contemporary, yet already dated, remix of "Hangin’ On" at album’s end suggests, in fact, that Ross might make one more dance-floor comeback if paired with the right behind-the-scenes team. 4-0 out of 5 stars Right Side Up
The music of the Motown era is one of the most special eras of the music industry. There were so many discoveries that've made it all the way to the top, from the Jackson 5 and little Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and the seductive Smokey Robinson. But of all of them that've defined the name of Diva, Diana Ross was definitely one of those that've been successful, and showed it. Since her career began in the late 50's as a member of the Primettes, later named The Supremes, Diana Ross made so many different infuences, and unlocked so many doors for acts like Whitney Houston, Cher, and many others. Now another hits package has been released honoring this legendary upside down diva.
4-0 out of 5 stars The ABC's of Diana's Solo Career
Yes, I know "ABC" was a hit from another Motown act, that said, this collection is a good remastered collection of (mostly) hits that Diana had as a solo artist.True these types of "collections" seem to be released often, but
5-0 out of 5 stars Diana Ross in a nutshell
This remastered collection is a précis version of Diana Ross' music career during her first solo stint with Motown and then with RCA, with nineteen Top 40 songs from 1970 to 1984.There's also one track from her 2006 album "Blue", titled "What a Diff'rence a Day Makes", which is a version of the 1930s classic jazz/pop hit also sung by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Dinah Washington, among others.

I'm an avid channel surfer and when I came across this movie on cable I locked on and enjoyed the rest of the movie. It's a good movie and the memories of my youth just poured over me.
1-0 out of 5 stars Big disappointment!!!Waste of time and money!!!
The movie "Roll Bounce" has close to thirty songs playing though out it. So why does this lame soundtrack have less than half of those songs on it? What happened to KC & The Sunshine Band?, Donna Summer?, The Ohio Players?, Sister Sledge?, The Commordores?, Samantha Sang?, Heart? and a host of other artists heard in the film but nowhere to be found on the soundtrack!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars what an amazing journey
i love most of the songs on here, but it's the songs that aren't included that really made me a donna summer fan. songs like "working the midnight shift" and "now i need you" .... those were the precursors to what we call Techno these days. that said i certainly hope the journey isn't over yet. she deserves to go out with a bang like Cher did with "Believe" ... but with Donna it should be a pounding rock song to remind people that she was much much more than "the queen of disco".

5-0 out of 5 stars The best of one of the greatest Disco Queens Ever!
This album is a terrific compilation of Donna Summer's greatest hits. The album has primarily the disco songs that made her a smash success such as "Love To Love You Baby," "Hot Stuff," "Bad Girls," "Last Dance," and "Dim All The Lights." You also get her classic duet with Barbra Streisand, "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough);" and a group called Brooklyn Dreams helped Donna out on background vocals for "Heaven Knows." There are twenty (yes, twenty) songs on this single CD, so you don't get many 12" extended versions of the songs. To compensate for that loss, however, there is a second bonus CD included inside the jewel case with remixes of some great songs including "Hot Stuff," "I Feel Love," and "You're So Beautiful."
5-0 out of 5 stars Donna Summer is the Best!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great compilation
As I've read the other reviews, I've learned that a lot of people don't know where these songs went to #1. The liner notes don't answer that question. Out of curiousity, I did some research (I have too much time on my hands). The following songs went to #1 in the U.K. or the U.S.:
4-0 out of 5 stars Great Collection + Bonus DVD
Are there such beings as Bee Gees afficionados?Whether the answer is yes or no, given all the hits these guys had over the decades, it's ridiculous to nitpick over which songs attained which rankings. To me, the point is fond memories, not re-creating the Billboard charts, and this CD and DVD set succeeds brilliantly at that.
1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
The second CD was scratched and hence I cannot play it. I would appreciate it if you would send me another one and also include the information needed to return the damaged one sent to me.

Editorial Review

Is there anything that simply screams the 1970s' most indelible pop cultural clichés--the sunny romanticism, perfect vocal hooks, feathered hair, stacked heels, and flared sateen britches--more than the Swedish pop phenomenon Abba? And while many a pundit snootily dismissed them during their prime as some sort of prefabricated aberration, their worldwide popularity peaked somewhere just south of Beatlesmania. Indeed, Abba's music was as finely tooled and crafted as anything to come from a Volvo or IKEA factory--if occasionally more economically potent. This double-disc, 37-track anthology comes neatly on the heels of Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific!
Really needed this item fast and I was not disappointed. It came before our vacation so I could bring it with me for a family reunion. Thanks so much!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous
I didn't realize how much I missed Kool & the Gang until I played the CD. They really are up there with EW&F, The Commodores, and other great groups of the 70s/80s.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Only Kool & The Gang Collection You Need
Kool & The Gang was one of the greatest and most popular funk-soul band of the 70's and 80's with countless of hit singles behind them. Although they were already formed in 1964 by brother Robert and Ronald Bell when they were still teenagers they had their big break in 1979 to the mainstream audience with "Celebration" when the 2 new singersEarl Toon, Jr. and, more importantly, James "J.T." Taylor joined. And during the early part of the 80's they recorded some of the greatest songs of the decade. Just like many other soul band of the 70's like EWF and Cameo they used horns but eventually followed the popular trends and started to use synthesizers in the 80's. Kool & The Gang perfectly blended Soul, R&B, Jazz, Funk with catchy pop melodies and is one of the most sampled bands of all time. Some of their old funk songs like "Hollywood Swinging", "Funky Stuff" and "Jungle Boogie" appear here, and you can really hear the diffrence between them and the 80's singles, but it really proves the versability of their music. In 1979 came the bi break with hits like "Ladies Night" "Too Hot" (later sampled by Coolio) and "Celebration" that was a massive hit. The band had taken the new trends of the 80's with success and hits like "Get Down On It" "Joanna" "Fresh" and obviously the big hit "Cherish". Kool & the Gang is defenitely one of the greatest 80's bands and this album proves why. If you want a taste of their talent, check this out cause it covers it all. Buying individual albums is more difficult, cause some albums are hard to get and many are rather inadequate. Either way, great purchase from a classic band. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars BAD Italian
Since I have to title my review, which I'm glad to see I'm able to do, I'm calling it "BAD Italian", because, if you are familiar with CHANGE, you know some Italian gentlemen started this studio group and helped make Luther Vandross a household name.
3-0 out of 5 stars The Very Best of Change
The only song which really appealed to me is "Lover's Holiday". Not sure if the Group had any other hits other than this.

1-0 out of 5 stars False advertisement
I was very happy to finally be able to order this CD knowing I could hear the long version of Searching....just to find out that it was the short version as it was with the order I placed with CD Universe. If you have the long version of this on a CHANGE CD, I will be more than happy to order it, but as for the one I just received....I am sending it back....I am very disappointed.....Thank you
