Editorial Review

Is Kid Rock about to drop the first half of his stage moniker? Some alarmingly mature cuts on his sixth album, addressing the woes of single parenthood ("Single Dad") and painful separations ("Cold and Empty," a cover of Bob Seger's "Hard Night For Sarah"), might suggest so. But that's only part of the story. As Rock reiterates on "Son of Detroit," a butt-kicking revamp of David Allan Coe's "Son of the South," "I like country, soul, rock and roll, and I love me some hip-hop." Yet compared to his previous work, that last flavor takes a back seat to the other three: Hank Williams, Jr. drops by for the swaggering "Cadillac Pussy," Bad Company's "Feel Like Makin' Love" gets a gritty nu-metal update, and ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd receive shout outs. Have no fear, fans--even as he reconciles having a child with acting like one, the Kid still lives to rock. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great CD
I love this CD it shows Kidd's diversity which is what I enjoy most about him.Favorite tune is track 14 Go back to LA wonder what Pam thinks of this song now that they are married!

5-0 out of 5 stars Bobby Richie
This album is kick a$$.A mix of good rock & roll, hip hop,and some country.Buy this cd you will love it i promise.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST CD YET
I hope to god that kid makes another CD. His earlier CDs shower not nearly as much potential as this. This CD had 3 hits (feel like makin love, cold and empty & jackson mississippi) but the whole CD was a hit. every single song was great, unlike his others where only a few were bad. Buy this CD if you would like to see a more mature side of kid rock.

2-0 out of 5 stars Why listen to it for free when you can pay for it?
ClearChannel strikes again!First they bought up all the rights to the great classic rock bands music; then they saw to it that any NEW music those bands recorded would never see the light of day (BTO, Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, and many others are still making great records, but ClearChannel radio stations will not play them); now, they're spitting out their own Digital K-Tel compilations.
3-0 out of 5 stars Classic Rock Gold
Classic Rock "Gold" is a double disc of classic rock's best. This 2-fer does have some good songs, but it also has some awkward inclusions.I had heard of most of these songs, but there's a few that I hadn't.Somehow I don't think those few should qualify as "classic" or "gold".
4-0 out of 5 stars + 1/2 stars...Solid Collection of Classic Rock Songs
The term "classic rock" means different things to different people. In my mind, it's that decade from 1964 to about 1975.For others, it's the decade of the Fifties. In the liner notes of this compilation, the "golden age" of Classic Rock has been defined as the FM radio era beginning in 1968 and ending in 1987. They further define a Classic Rock song as "snatching the listener out of the humdrum here and now, and taking off..."

4-0 out of 5 stars Southern Rock Review
After watching a program on CMT on the history of southern rock I ordered this CD.What a pleasure it has been - even the cover of Jackson Browne's THESE DAYS - Gregg's voice is so sweet.A must have for true fans.

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic Greg Allman
The sound quality of this digital remastering is super! The subtle nuances of the original analog are preserved and come through without sounding "digital" at all. No "brassiness" - unlike some "remasterings."Just about on par with a good clean vinyl version of this 1973 classic! Go for it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Gregg's Finest Solo Effort
Just an absolute classic here. As the title implies, this is Gregg Allman in a mellow mood. Every cut is great with "Queen of Hearts", "These Days", and the redone "Midnight Rider" among the standouts. Check the credits and you'll see a lot of talent on this album; Capricorn must have spent a nice buck to make it and the results are well worth it. This stands with the Allman Brothers best studio works and it's a surprise that Allman hasn't tried to duplicate this formula on later solo works. This is a definite must have! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars "Camel Walk" ALONE is worth 5 stars
There needs to be more music like THIS at dance clubs and honky-tonks.Southern Culture on the Skids is some classic country-rockabilly with a modern edge. The music may sound like it could be duplicated on your back porch, but it is also very contemporary and fresh and witty and worth at least a head-nod or some toe-tap, evne if you're dead.I prefer a real country strut with my honey on my arm during this whole album, maybe a little Presley imitation thrown in now and then (and I'm talking old school King, when he could still do some hardcore pelvis shots and sway his knees about).I'm a fan of isolated tracks on other albums (40 Miles to Vegas is just impossible to keep your foot on the floor to), but this one keeps me jiggling the whole way through.
4-0 out of 5 stars Dirt Track Great
All the songs on this album are good, definently worth buying. My husband and I have enjoyed everything we've heard from this band.

5-0 out of 5 stars Happy Gilmore soundtrack?
The first I heard of this group was, naturally, on the radio. The song "Soul City" (which none of the other "reviewers" mentioned)was occasionally being played on the radio, I believe, around the time Happy Gilmore came out.Coincidence? Not too many songs I hear on the radio DRIVE me to go ASAP to the store to get.I can't describe it's noise, but it affected me the same way Home Fries did.The movie?I was surprised of no soundtrack.I had to rent the movie to find Reverend Horton Heat's name. Then I had the unexpected ephiphany that maybe I was addicted to this strange, but not new genre, Rockabilly. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars last of an era
Skynyrd, like so many others from the time and others who came before them, when CDs didn't yet exist and LPs ruled the world, does not sound right on a stupid CD. Now I realize that versatility, mobility, etc etc is more important these days than quality. One look inside of a circuit city or any number of other like-minded stores is all the visual evidence one needs. The way it used to be, if you wanted music to go mobile, you either bought cassettes, or recorded it on blanks. Aside from cassettes and 8-tracks, the only format in which bands like Skynyrd sound the way they were meant to sound, is vinyl. Unless you're fortunate enough to own an open reel deck. I don't care if you can play CDs in your car, don't waste your money on some stupid cd. Get the real deal. To the pig-minded idiots out there who are stupid and deaf enough to believe CDs sound better than LPs, I pity you.

4-0 out of 5 stars NOT THE BEST SKYNYRD.... NOT THE WORST (4 STARS)
If I was to put this somewhere on my list of Skynyrd albums I would place it behind numerous others. Sure, the songs aren't bad, after all, this WAS RONNIE VAN ZANTS swan song album, and Ronnie never REALLY did us wrong. However, songs like THAT SMELL, WHATS YOUR NAME, and YOU GOT THAT RIGHT, are just way to overproduced for my complete liking. Sure they aren't bad if you are really drunk, but most of these songs just don't match up to the GREATNESS of the albums released before this. PRONOUNCED and SECOND HELPING are hands down brilliant classics, which are nothing less than perfection. NUTHIN FANCY and GIMME BACK MY BULLETS are pretty damned close to, and ONE MORE FROM THE ROAD is a highly enjoyable live collection. Even FIRST..and LAST is a great album, of early unreleased stuff (also nowadays there is even a version with more early songs simply called SKYNYRDS FIRST: MUSCLE SHOALS COLLECTION.
5-0 out of 5 stars skynyrd's second best... behind their "second helping"
this album really rocks, i mean REALLY. even their big corporate single (you know which one) is a great song. "that smell" is a bit underrated by some, and so is "i know a little". but the best song award on this album goes to "you got that right."

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Collection Of Southern Rock
SOUTHERN ROCK GOLD is a great collection of Southern rock featuring bands from across the spectrum. Most of the songs, both well-known and obscure, are strong. The fact that all of the bands featured (at least those members still with us) believe that the young Australian tourist jailed in Indonesia since 2005 on drug-smuggling charges was unjustly convicted, as well as advocating increased funding for law enforcement, makes SOUTHERN ROCK GOLD an essential purchase for both your ears AND your conscience.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ditto.....some gems on this collection!!!!!!!
Wow!...I have finally found 'Mindbender' on Cd (Jimmy Hall on lead vocals, in case you didn't know)..'Please Be With Me' by Cowboy (off Clapton's 461, but written by these guys). You get the Dixie Dregs, Sea Level for the jazzier side...'Only You Know and I Know' by Delaney and Bonnie, another cool addition..but nuff said...if you're not convinced now, well check out the rest of the track listing..you should be, convinced that is.

5-0 out of 5 stars Southern Rock at Its Finest
This massive 32-track collection clocks in at more than two and a half hours of some of the finest Southern rock ever committed to vinyl. It begins and ends with the cornerstones of the genre--Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Allman Brothers. In addition, other Seventies stalwarts such as the Marshall Tucker Band, The Outlaws, The Charlie Daniels Band and Molly Hatchet are represented with their most well known songs.

2-0 out of 5 stars Guess I'm just not a fan
I heard great things about them but I guess I wasn't really familiar with their work - either that or this particular album just isn't for me. Then again I'm not a blues fan so maybe that'sthe problem. The first tune is catchy but the rest is not funked up enough for my taste.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Southern Jams
This is a 5 star effort all the way! What a great and fun band these Gov't Mule guys have turned out to be.Along with the always awesome rhythm section and perfect guitar we also get some great keyboards courtesy of Danny Louis.
4-0 out of 5 stars hot hot hot
Warren Haynes and Matt Abts return with new players Danny Lewis and Andy Hess on keyboard and bass respectively for a rebirth of one of the most intense bandsworking. While I prefered the stylistic breadth of the Deep End projects, this is in my opinion the best Mule CD as a self contained unit. While the instinctive communication between Haynes and the late Alan Woody is missing, overall the band burns with a purpose.

The first half of this soundtrack features a nice collection of Brit-rock stalwarts showing off their American influences. There's the Santana-ish majesty of Mick Taylor's guitar during the extended instrumental coda to the Stones' "Can't You Hear Me Knocking"; Cream, Faces, and Ram Jam all messing around with Yank blues (the latter doing unmentionable things to Leadbelly's "Black Betty"); even Manfred Mann doing his best to sanitize Springsteen with "Blinded by the Light." But then things start getting strange. Salsa legend Willie Rosario segues inexplicably into KC & the Sunshine Band's "Keep It Comin'," while the postmodern lounge of J Girls gets to rub up against good ol' boys Skynyrd and Tucker. By the time we come to Bob Dylan's "All the Tired Horses," Read more

I love the movie and I love the soundtrack.Lots of old music bringing back memories!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the better soundtracks available in my opinion.
"Can't You Hear Me Knockin'" was undoubtedly the perfect song to start Blow.I'm not even a gungho Rolling Stones fan but "Can't You Hear Me Knockin'" is definitely my all time favorite Stones tune.I enjoyed the entire movie and soundtrack, but do wish the soundtrack would've included a few more of the songs from the movie. That said, the "Blow" soundtrack is up there with "Carlito's Way" when it comes to my favorite 70's based movie soundtracks.I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys 70's rock.

5-0 out of 5 stars A COMPLETE ROCK MASTERPIECE !!!
GREAT SONGS, GREAT PERFORMANCE, GREAT PRODUCTION, A PERFECT ALBUM. THIS ALBUM IS ZAKK'S SWAN SONG. A MUST HAVE FOR ANY ROCK FAN. NOTHING MORE TO SAY. A+++

5-0 out of 5 stars My new favorite CD!!
You can really hear Zakk's talent on this one. His voice is not as gruff, and I felt like I heard his actual voice and guitar work for the first time. I love BLS, but because these songs aren't as heavy, a lot more soul comes through, I think. It's not metal, but who cares? There is some really great guitar work and song writing here. I would compare it to a more passionate Skynard. "Way Beyond Empty" and the acoustic "Peddlers of Death" stand out as my favorites. You should give it a try if you're open minded enough. If you're afraid of a little piano or harmonica, don't bother!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best albums of all time!
I first got introduced to Mr Wyldes work through Black Label Society. Then I picked up all the Black Label albums and his two solo records Pride & Glory and Book of Shadows. Book of Shadows is my favorite. Book of Shadows is nothing like Black Label or anything he has done with Ozzy. It is a softer acoustic rock album and it is excellent. This is music by a true musician! Pick this album up if you are a just getting into his work or just appreciate true talent and music! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Southern Staple
There is no way you can play this CD often or loud enough. When I first heard this album (yeah back then it required a needle) I was blown away. And its impact some 25 years later has not lessoned. This album rips. 'Bounty Hunter' and 'The Price You Pay' have been favorite songs of mine since the day they first hit the wax. Southern rock fan or just music lover this album hits the mark.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Southern fried rock debut, and second best MOLLY HATCHET album
I bought "Beatin' the odds" in 1981, but wished I hadn't waited till the end of the 80's to purchase this smokin debut album by the great MOLLY HATCHET. I guess I put it off for so long because I thought it wouldn't rock like some of the hatchet albums I had heard before. Sometimes I used to get leary about purchasing debut albums, in some circumstances. That was a big mistake! This album, pure and simple flat out rocks! "Bounty hunter", with quite a few from "Beatin' the odds", is tied for #1, as my favorite MOLLY HATCHET song. "Dreams I'll never see" is better than the original ALLMAN BROTHERS version by a long shot. That song always sends shivers down my spine, it's played so dad gum good. "I'll be running" is a straight up rocking tune. You can't go wrong with the tunes "The price you pay" and "Gator country" either. "The creeper" and "Big apple" are no slouches either. This album is better than "Flirtin with disaster", but not quite in the same league as the album "Beatin' the odds". I've known a few folks who really think that this one's the best, and really I don't blame them for thinking so. If you really appreciate down home southern fried rock, you need to check out this masterpiece. Just a kick ass MOLLY HATCHET debut that won't disappoint.

5-0 out of 5 stars Southern rock at its' finest
One of my favorite southern rock albums of all time!People tried to say they were copying Skynyrd because of their three guitar attack but Blackfoot(another must have)had more of a Skynyrd sound in my opinion. That triple guitar work just wraps around you in Dreams I'll Never See.The whole album grabs you and drags you along for a great ride. Danny Joe Brown's vocals are a perfect fit, too bad he had to leave (due to health issues if I recall) after their second album (Flirtin' With Disaster). If you like Southern Rock, this album and Flirtin' definitely should be on your shelf.Another band you should check out is The Four Horsemen. They aren't Southern Fried, actually they're from above the border but the music has a definite southern edge and a bluesy feel to it. Nobody Said it was Easy and Gettin' Pretty Good at Barely Gettin' By are definitely worth a listen. ... Read more

The Atlanta Rhythm Section is a great, wonderful and in my opinion, underrated band. They have a style and sound that is just so attractive, sensual, really. All of the songs are excellent, although my personal faves are -4-0 out of 5 stars This porridge is just about right!
The Millennium Collection series is a lot like Goldilocks at the Three Bears house. Sometimes the porridge is too hot - how can you possibly distill the career of The Who, The Jackson Five or even Bing Crosby into 10 tracks? Sometimes the porridge is too cold - calling Eddie Kendricks or Rita Coolidge a "Master" is just too much of a stretch. Read more

Editorial Review

Already tagged with the unfortunate critical label of "southern-fried Strokes," the full-length debut by the brothers Followill (Nathan, Jared, Caleb) and cousin (Matthew Followill) may well have its roots in their itinerant evangelist father Leon blasting his sons with relentless doses of ‘70s rock as they traveled the South from one preaching gig to the next. But the way the Kings channel sources as disparate as Led Zeppelin's "That's the Way" into "Joe's Head" or the Who's "Circles" into their ""Molly's Chambers" seems almost subconscious; after a decade of bands trying to reinvent the rock wheel, it's refreshing to hear one content to gleefully pry it loose and send it spinning in their own peculiar directions. As with all the great ones, deconstructing the Kings' sound doesn't get you far: singer/guitarist Caleb perpetually seems to be rolling one too many syllables off a lazy, Southern tongue while his haystack-haired brothers and cousin chug maniacally along like some lost, recently re-tooled '60s garage-psych-rock legend. In the end there's not an ounce of the Strokes' latent pop culture self-consciousness in the Kings' intoxicating sonic haze--just the restless, often bittersweet noise of one of the most original bands to hail from Dixie since R.E.M. 5-0 out of 5 stars Still Fresh
3 years later, and this album still sounds as fresh as the first time I heard it. Garage rock with a southern twist. It took a few listens to really grow on me, but sometimes the best ones do. In todays music, there's not many albums that have a lot of "staying power", but this one does. It might be a familiar sound to some, but at the same time you'll know that you've never heard anything quite like it before. And it was definitely a treat to see them a few times last year, open for U2.
5-0 out of 5 stars Youth & Young Manhood
In 2003 saw the release of Youth & Young Manhood at the time I had never even heard of these guys, but when Aka Shake Heartbreak from 2004 was released I have been a fan ever since.
5-0 out of 5 stars bitchin'
The Kings of Leon are stellar musicians with a desire to be wicked. They haven't exactly reached that peak, but hey? It's their first record. After I heard about a minute of "Red Morning Light" I knew I was gonna buy this album. I bought Aha Shake Heartbreak too, and they're both great. They aren't "southern Strokes". They're original. Check em out. ... Read more

My God, have I been in a hole somewhere? How did I miss these guys?
5-0 out of 5 stars I bled for you
I borrowed this album from a friend a few months back and I was not dissapointed. From the intro "Bleed for Me" to the follow up "Lords of Destruction" and then "Demise of Sanity", this album goes on and on with awesome tracks by Zakk Wylde and the Black Label Soceity.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bleed Black Label!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Blues Lives On with Gov't Mule
I'm not going to be able to say anything more than all the other reviewer's have already said about this great Blues/Rock Masterpiece. Suffice it to say, it is absolutely a fabulously great collection of songs and musicianship all in one place.
5-0 out of 5 stars Just what I was looking for
I bought the CD, because I'm dancing to Soul Shine with my father at my wedding this summer and I needed a good version of the song.I'm not a HUGE Gov't Mule fan, but the CD is pretty good.

5-0 out of 5 stars A brilliant idea
You couldn't blame the band for choosing any one of 2 different paths after the untimely death of Allen Woody: they could have simply broken up or chosen to soldier on with a single replacement bassist (and I'm sure that would have been a fine effort). The 3rd - and most unlikely choice - is the path they decided to venture down.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rocking Like A Mutha
Blackfoot is another in a long line of underrated bands. They could jam and boy do they jam. This album is for the most part the peoples choice as their best but I rank this as their second best. I think their best album was Marauder. This however is also a classic. Every song is great. I also disagree with the reviews that compare Highway Song to Lynyrd Skynyrd and Free Bird. Both songs are classic but they are very different. This album never gets old. This is not Lynyrd Skynyrd and they sure didn't need to be. They were different and just as good in their own underrrated way.

4-0 out of 5 stars This is a classcic CD
This CD brings back so many memories. If you love Southern Rock than this is one for you. You shuld Also check out a CD called PRIDE & GLORY also Book of Shadows by Zakk Wylde.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sounds of History
Other reviewers talk about lone hits for ARS so that must make me an anomaly. I never owned an ARS album growing up but I know and jam (in my head) to just about every song on this CD as most of them could be heard on radio stations through out the south back in the day. ARS has a jazzy feel that is still Southern Rock in its roots. Champagne Jam and Spooky are excellent songs but my favorite has always been "I'm Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight". Long title, but excellent song. Their 'hit' is a good song too but they had depth that is worth going after. Their sound holds up even today.

5-0 out of 5 stars OK, Its a Re-Recording But Wow!
"I'm So Into You" is obviously a re-recording, and bears no resemblance to the original.I agree with the other posters on that score.Thats the bad news.
3-0 out of 5 stars Insufficient. ARS deserves a 2 Disc "Anthology"
This CD offers a mere smattering of what the Atlanta Rythmn Section was all about. It does give you what the casual listener might have heard on the radio at the bands peak of popularity, which to be fair was short lived. But radio play popularity doesn't matter when it comes to bands like this. ARS, like many 70s bands, and particularly southern rock types, weren't popular because of their radio hits. Their appeal to those who first heard their crossover hits on the radio was the cherry on the sundae. What made them great were solid, beginning to end CDs like their first 2 breakthroughs- "A Rock and Roll Alternative," and "Champagne Jam," both of which are inadequately represented here, albeit not unfairly represented. After all, this is a "Greatest Hits" collection. But if you want to get a truer, more representive measure of what made this band great and got them radio play in the first place, I say skip this CD and buy the 2 aforementioned CDs, which would have necessities like, "Hitchhikers Hero, Outside Women Blues, Everybody Gotta Go Sometime, Don't Miss the Message, Evil Eve," and "Large Time," just to name a mere few. To get to this CD, it does take the most popular tracks from those CDs, but the songs selected from those and subsequent CDs to follow are disproportionate. Add to that there are a few songs on this CD that don't even belong there, but are there merely because of an apparent need to put something on the CD from the entire span of the bands existence, even though their latter CDs were a shadow of their best two. If memory serves, the band in its latter stages was also a mere shadow of their best, early period as well. But to be fair, of all the ARS "hits" collections this one is probably more complete than the others, which isn't saying much. This group deserves an anthology. Lesser bands have that much. I'm not going to say they're deserved of a box set. As much as I loved this band, the breadth of their musical lifespan isn't worthy of that much. But if lesser bands- take your pick: the hair bands of the 80s, the few hit wonders of the 60s and 70s, the bands who got one or two of their songs made popular in dance clubs- are worthy of a minimal of an anthology, surely The Atlanta Rythmn Section can get that much. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars After many listens....the truth is evident (and not common)
This disc is much better than most of the reviews on Amazon.com give it credit for.Actually, IMHO this is the bands best set since their sophomore effort. Why??Because they push the comfortable boundaries of traditional "Southern Rock" cliches and yet still remain loyal to the spirit of the sound. If you like the band but were turned off by this album I challenge you to give it a second listen.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad Crowes
Lickin is the only good song on this CD! I will sell mine!

1-0 out of 5 stars Sorry.. Just Didn't Get It
???? What the h*ll is this?Giving 'Lions' any stars was a stretch, but I'll at least give it 1 for "Soul Singin'".The rest isn't even filler. What happened? It's taken me 4 years to write this review as I couldn't muster the strength to speak of this monstrosity 'til now.I've been a huge Crowes fan from the Mr. Crowe's Garden days and have always defended the band when it tended to dive off of the deep end musically. The only thing I can compare this to was a musical root canal---w/no anethstetic---SERIOUSLY painful from beginning to end.All Crowes fans know how brilliant the first 3 releases are, so I needn't touch on those.Going forward...TS&AC was interesting sonically in its drugged out approach and contained more than a couple of gems. The follow-up, 'By Your Side', was an incredibly strong effort and I thought...h*ll yeah, they're back with a vengeance!!Can't begin to tell you how psyched I was to get 'Lions' on its release date. When I slipped it in my truck's CD player I was aghast at what I heard...track after wretched track. It was a long trip home from where I had bought the disk, so I gave it a 2nd listen in hopes I had missed something the first time around...nope, bad idea. The 2nd was more nauseating than the 1st.Needless to say, after finishing that 2nd gruelling listen, I put the disk back in its case, (reluctantly) slapped it in my CD collection never to pull it out and listen again. However, in closing, I just wanna say how ecstatic I am that the Crowes are back playing together again and I'm looking forward to the next release.I've waited 4 long years, which will most likely turn to 5.I can say with all confidence that the next one's gonna be a return to glory.I've got faith in ya Chris 'n Rich.Bring back the rock the way only the Crowes know how to deliver!! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good but could have been better
Got this as a gift a few years back.I've enjoyed it because it introduced me to some good songs that I was not familiar with (Outlaw Women and I've got rights for example). One of the gems for me is "To Love Somebody" (love the way he does the song). The best of the bunch by far is on CD one. Most of the songs on CD's two and three just don't do much for me. Some of its okay and some if it just isn't worth listening to.I give CD one five stars but the other two bring the rating down to only three.

5-0 out of 5 stars verry pleased
this collection includes everything i wanred on one set.quality and performance are execellent.could not ask for anymore.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as essential as the Complete Hank Jr
This is a good set, but you should own "The Complete Hank Williams Jr." along with it or "Complete" by it's self. This set leaves off a couple of standards, has too many covers, of both his own and others songs, irreleavent live cuts, and a duet with Ray Charles, who always seems to show up on a duet with anybody important, if he can. "The Complete" set is far from complete, but it is a good complete greatest hits package, or complete radio songs set. Therefore, it is more consistent. Like his father's most consistent set, "Original Singles Collection"The "Complete Hank Jr" does not seem to break up the rotation of basic, normal county "songs". Just has Hank Senior sets are too limited or too exstensive, some of Junior's sets are one of the two, as well. For your dollar get Hank Sr. "Original Singles Collection" and "The Complete Hank Williams Jr." and you will feel complete, has far as hits go. Only the weird Die Hard, like myself, need the Hank Sr. "The Complete Hank Williams" Which is a 10 cd set of Jr's father. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Look Now
As far as I'm concerned, 'Willy & The Poor Boys' represent the very peak of Creedence Clearwater Revival. Simply because they came from classics such as 'Bayou Country' and 'Green River', and even after this album, they would continue with such immaculate collections of prime & pure rock'n'roll as'Cosmo's Factory' and 'Pendulum'. 'Willy & The Poor Boys' then, is not just the last classic before a sudden fall in quality, but the third in a row of brilliant recordings, that would continue after it, & therefor, it is as far from failure as one gets.
