3-0 out of 5 stars I prefer the studio versions
Not bad at all - but the studio versions are perfection.I don't think I will be listening to this much.

5-0 out of 5 stars a band amidst greatness
I agree with many others that this is Roxy Music at their prime. I thought I'd share a couple thoughts about why. Aside from the band itself being in top form, the energy of that time came into play. Phil Manzanera was also in a band called 801 Live with Brian Eno, which kept his guitar on fire, and the bass player for the tour was John Wetton, recently of King Crimson! So that powerful bass/guitar jam in "Red" by King Crimson seems to be flowing through this tour as well. Fascinating dynamic!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Live Album Ever Made...
Between 1971 and 1976, Roxy Music were in their "hip" phase and they were one of the best live acts ever, and still are today

5-0 out of 5 stars The Miracle was worth it
You push play and Party comes on. Party is a ridicules song, shortly after it jumps into Khashoggis Ship which sucks. Then what you get is The Miracle which is very pop sounding and dumb. After that you get a average rocker in I Want It All. Then you get the strange Invisible Man tune. Then you get the happy and stupid Breakthru. and after that comes the track rain must fall which is nothing special. Scandal is the next song which is quite dull. Then you get the lame My Baby does Me followed by the average Was It All Worth It. 2/5
3-0 out of 5 stars Not Bad...
I has this on cassette (Hollywood version) and was so turned off on the first listen that I never listened again. Being the Queen completist that I am, I bought it again on compact disc, hoping it would perhaps sound better this time.It did! Some of it screams "It's the 1980s!" which is the biggest flaw of this album- the overuse of synthesizers.Party and Khashoggi's Ship are the album's weakests tracks, though the lyrics are intriguing. The title track is interesting, though a bit played out to my ears, which first heard it on Classic Queen all of those years ago.I have the original album version of I Want it All and it is a refreshing change.I really like it better than the single version. The Invisible Man has its moments, as does Breakthru (especially the grand opening).Rain Must Fall again has intriguing lyrics but isn't much to listen to.Scandal, written by Brian May, has some great power to it.My Baby Does Me isn't as bad as people make it out to be, but it is definitely a mellow track. Was it all Worth It is by far the best track of the bunch, and with some tweaking could have worked on the Innuendo album, but the synthesizers don't do it any favors.
2-0 out of 5 stars If you 're new to Queen - avoid this album.
I'm a fan of Queen and they'e one of my favorite bands even after twenty plus years but this album is definitely the worst Queen album. Even Hot Space was better overall. For my money there are two good songs on this album, (Kashoggis Ship and I Want It All), and one great track (Was It All Worth It). The rest ranges from "alright" to downright embarssing. And Freddie Mercury's voice by this time had declined quite markedly. He also makes the mistake of tending to shout too much.

4-0 out of 5 stars This is the way things are now.
This was the "last" Queen album, released four years after the death of Freddie Mercury. Some of the songs had been released before in a different form, but never on a Queen album.Despite the somewhat "impure" origins of the album, it's actually quite good. While it was moderately successful in the US, it was a smash in the UK, where five of it's songs were hit singles ("Heaven For Everyone", "A Winter's Tale", "Too Much Love Will Kill You", "Let Me Live" and "You Don't Fool Me).The album ends on an odd note, with 22 minutes of ambient music, which is sometimes barely audible. This album is a fitting "last word" from Queen.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is magic
That's clearly the only explanation for why this album is so perfect. When you know what Freddie and the band were going through at the time of making some of these songs, you will definetely feel this album alot more. I will go as far to say that Made in Heaven is a masterpiece.
2-0 out of 5 stars Forgive me...
...but this album should never have been released as the "final" Queen-album. A couple of these songs should instead have been added as bonus tracks to one of those many Best of Queen-releases. "A Winters' Tale" for example. Do I know much about the background for "Made in Heaven", well perhaps not. But I know that this is known to be the last studio release. Sadly it has the sound of elevator-music all over, not that the melodies are bad, it just sounds... almost cheap actually -and most importantly to my ears (at least) this doesn't sound like my Queen. One of the most important bands in the history of music saying good-bye with "Made in heaven"? Was this really Freddie Mercurys' wish? It doesn't make much sence after the fantastic "Innuendo" released in short time before his tragic death containing the haunting ballad "These are the days of our lives". The words and the music... wow! And the music video to this song, have you seen it? To me that was the real good-bye with Freddie, and with Queen. And it has the sound of how I will remember them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Two Unique Shows
These two concerts are quite different in their own way, but both are stellar examples of EJ at the top of his game. If you're a fan of his early material or wanting to check it out for the first time, this CD is worth it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Elton Performing in his Hey Day
This album released in 1976 filled Elton's contract with Dick James Music, the company that discovered him and made him a star: the company that he had long since outgrown.

Why, o why, are there only five stars?!If you are a fan of this gem of a movie, you will find yourself putting it on your Top 5 Things To Save In The Event Of A Fire. Then, you will find yourself shuffling and reshuffling its rank betweet the dog and this DVD.Homage to Stephen Gately and the other little-known actors:dad, nana, friend, on and on.Remember the face of Billy's dad at Billy's Swan Lake performance. It will get your through your darkest times and help you realize that there really is light all around you.

If you enjoyed the movie this terrific soundtrack allows you to relive moments of the film. The cuts are great dance tunes and they are interspersed with short dialogue from the film. We totally dig it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome
I haven't stopped listening to this cd since I got it for Christmas last year. I actually appreciate some songs more now then I did originally. Paul has a husky bluesy vocal range that is so different from Freddie. I'm sure that is why they wanted him to sing vocals on this tour. Brian May is a guitar master. I appreciate how he puts as much into Paul's songs as he does Queen's. There seems to be a lot of mutual respect there.

4-0 out of 5 stars Worthwhile, But...
I'm a lifelong Queen fan and when I first heard of them working with Paul Rodgers I was not happy.I ignored the collaboration until the news came that they would be touring over here in the U.S.As a fan of Queen and not just Freddie Mercury, I was tempted to go just to see Brian and Roger, who are both very accomplished musicians and songwriters in their own right. But I needed more information, so I first listened to some clips of Paul with the band then I bought this album.I was both surprised and not surprised. Why?Some of it works very well (Show Must Go On) and some of it downright fails (We are the Champions).Brian sounds awesome as usual on the Red Special and it was a treat for Roger's singing to be featured multiple times. The show also had an honest heart- they were showcasing the best of Queen and the best of Paul but also acknowledging and paying tribute to Freddie. There couldn't have been a classier way to go about it.After seeing three shows on the U.S. tour, it is with sadness that I add that this cd (and dvd) does not begin to show the power and the chemistry that was clearly evident to me in person. This shows the early days of the collaboration and not the unit that it grew into. That's too bad.Lastly, the title is lame but the band does not like it either- it wasn't there idea so those who are bashing, get some facts before you open your mouth.

1-0 out of 5 stars HOW COULD THEY
This is absolutely the worst album that I've ever heard. I didn't even want to give it one star, but the system makes you rate the album. If you are a true Queen fan, you should not buy this album. It is painful to listen to Paul Rogers attempt to even sing a Queen song and try to "act" like Freddie Mercury. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars 4 1/2 stars-- Bowie at his most theatrical.
After the excesses of his glam era, David Bowie turned his attention to creating a musical based on George Orwell's "1984", but unable to secure the rights to the work, he decided to restructure the material into what ended up being "Diamond Dogs".Still, the pedigree of the material brings it to a significantly different sound then any of Bowie's previous work-- a very much theatrical sound is present throughout the music, and it ends up coaxing some fine performances out of Bowie.
5-0 out of 5 stars dark and sweet
What a great artist David Bowie was in the 70's he took so many chances - that would seem almost like rock and roll suicide - but somehow he always was on top of the game and way ahead of his contemporaries. 'Diamond dogs' would be his strangest and darkest albums looking to the future like Ziggy but in a way that does not glorify it like the starman did - this is not a pretty future.. There are many great moments on this album - but it is more of a whole than it is pieces - it all fits together. This is one of my new favorites.

5-0 out of 5 stars This aint rock 'n' roll, this is genocide!
This is my favorite David Bowie album, and maybe his best! Diamond Dogs is strong from start to finish with no bad points. Really orchestral throught the whole thing. Might I suggest:

Editorial Review

Arty, classy, smug yet occasionally self-deprecating, Roxy Music took the excesses of glam and refined them into a beautifully stylized thing. Earning themselves a reputation as much for their fashionable attire as for their haute couture rock & roll, Roxy Music earned a string of hits with "Pyjamarama," "Do The Strand," and their club classic, "Love Is the Drug." Roxy Music's sense of rhythm had a certain sophistication that was further enhanced by the vocal phrasings of the consummate rock sophisticate, Bryan Ferry. His handling of Wilson Pickett's "In the Midnight Hour" is a classic in and of itself. "Dance Away" and "Same Old Scene" had an aching sentimentality to them, with Ferry proving it was hipper than hip to romantically croon. In his solo career, Ferry sounded even more like a new-school Sinatra with "Slave to Love." Two of Ferry's finest moments though were with his band, the soaring "More Than This" and the stunningly beautiful "Avalon." Their inclusion further makes Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Roxy Music is the drug.
This collection is older, but it's 20 tracks long, and does include most of the essential Roxy/Ferry songs. Included amongst all these killer songs is "Love Is The Drug", "More Than This", "Avalon", and "Slave To Love". It would truly be impossible to fit everything on one disc, but the only things I really miss is Roxy's "Mother Of Pearl", and Ferry's "Kiss And Tell" and "Limbo". Otherwise it actually does a great job as a "best of". This being currently out of print however, you may have to hit the used stores, or deal with another "hits" album.

5-0 out of 5 stars A good but somewhat outdated hits set
This collection contains 20 of Bryan Ferrys biggest hits from both his band Roxy Music and from his solo career spanning from the glam rock days of the 1972 self-titled debut to the dreamier pop sounds of 1982s swansong Avalon all the way to Ferrys 1985 solo masterpiece Boys & Girls. Many fans will love this CD. I do. It's like a kaleidascope of many styles ranging from the campy glam-rock of the early 70s Roxy Music to the disco rock of Siren and finally the dreamy romantic pop of Flesh & Blood, Avalon & Boys & Girls. Unfortunately this set doesn't have anything from his strongest album Bete Noire nor anything from 1993s Taxi or 1994s Mamouna. Ferry had a top 40 hit called Kiss & Tell from 1987s Bete Noire but unfortunately that single isn't included on this set because even though there are 20 tracks on here this collection was released in 1986, a year before Bete Noire came out and because of that this set doesn't really offer the very best of Ferrys solo works in my honest opinion. The 1999 More Than This. 2000s Slave To Love: Best Of The Ballads & 2001s Best Of Roxy Music are stronger CDs that span Roxy Musics and Ferrys solo career mainly because Ferry made strong material long after this 1986 20 track set was released. That's probably why this CD is diffficult to find nowadays. I in no way am saying leave this CD alone, far from it. It's just not the best place to start your Bryan Ferry, Roxy Music CD collection. The other three compilations I mentioned are better bets even though they too aren't the best places to start either. Ultimately it's probably the wisest choice to eventually buy all of Ferrys solo albums and all of Roxy Musics albums too. This 20 track set is a CD worth owning but just that it's now kind of outdated.

4-0 out of 5 stars An overall good compilation of Roxy Music's career...
Though this compilation may lack a few songs (Thrill of it all being missing really makes this album lose a few points), it gives an overall good or general overview of the band's career. Though I can't say all the tracks were strong, I definitely liked Avalon and More than This. Street Life is rather interesting and I'd give a little more credit as it did include Pyjamarama which I think would be needed in any overview of this band. Not a bad compilation. I would recommend it to a few casual fans, someone who just wants a taste of Roxy Music (and Bryan Ferry), or perhaps a newbie to them. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Everything the peace and love vibe of the '60s wasn't the Stooges 1969 debut record was: dangerous, violent, chaotic, mean-spirited, and sex crazed. Iggy Pop's monotone birthday lament, "1969" ("War across the U.S.A. / Another year for me and you / Another year with nothing to do"), pretty much sums up the band's coldly disaffected outlook. Producer and Velvet Underground second banana John Cale lends the proceedings an appropriately ominous feel, although his attempt to transform the Stooges into V.U. clones on the 10-minute-plus "All Fall Down" is the band's weakest studio moment. But Iggy Pop and company more than make up for that misstep with the mind-numbingly ugly-and-great "I Wanna Be Your Dog" and the distortion-drenched "Real Cool Time." Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars breathtakingly devastating rock & roll
Rock and roll just doesn't get any more REAL than the Stooges. For coping with life in a world that just plain drives you crazy, the Stooges provide the antidote.
4-0 out of 5 stars ***1/2A long, strange trip into late '60s hell
Proto-punk, hard rock, acid rock, three-chord garage anthems - it all starts here. Iggy Pop takes Jim Morrison's confrontational stance three cocky steps forward and snarls his way from start to finish. His inspiration by the Doors is obvious, and he has the same lizard charisma as Morrison, but he doesn't rip him off. Ig has his own agenda.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Stooges - A quinnesential album!
As I said in my review for "Fun House", I am a HUGE fan of Iggy & The Stooges. I love and own all of their albums, but my absolute favorite album of theirs would be their debut, The Stooges.

5-0 out of 5 stars One Funhouse You'll Never Leave
. . . even if you wanted to; but if you're a fan of pure rock I can't imagine you'd want this wasted soundscape to ever end. The only complaint one could make about _fun house_ is that it ends; this is about the best criticism one could make of an album, as I'm sure you would agree. Iggy, the Asheton Bros. & Co. get more out of sludgy three-chord rants than pretty much anyone before or since (see anything by Boris for a worthy contemporary heir). The Stooges live up to their namesake perfectly here and continue to set the pace for extreme music on this CD, be it punk, metal, experimental, or otherwise.
5-0 out of 5 stars Not just a museum piece...This is Iggy's best (thanks Rhino)
This is not a "fans only" disk. It's an outstanding introduction to Iggy produced by Don Gallucci, the same fellow who was behind Louie Louie by The Kingsmen.Like that record, it's loose, loud, fun and very addictive.Actually, if you've never heard an Iggy Pop album, but you really appreciate rock and roll, start right here.Get it NOW.
5-0 out of 5 stars We've Been Needing This
Ann Arbor's Stooges never expected to sell lots of records. They were disappointed, however, when their 1969 debut failed to capture the aggression of their live performances. For the follow-up Fun House sessions, they went with producer Don Gallucci, whose stripped-down studio approach promised a far better match for their heavy, relentlessly primitive songs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Underrated Album
Easy Action is one of the highest underrated albums I've ever heard in my love for classic rock music. It is my personal favorite of the first seven Alice Cooper albums consisting of the original band members. I strongly recommend this album to anyone who is a die-hard Alice Cooper fan, or to anyone who enjoys "feel music." There are lyrics in this album which would later re-appear in future albums.

5-0 out of 5 stars alice for president
I stumbled across this album,(and it's predecessor,"pretties for you") sort of by mistake-(the best mistake I ever made). As a young teen, I had heard "I'm Eighteen" and "Ballad Of Dwight Fry" on the radio and I was IMMEDIATELY hooked. I just HAD to have the album these two songs came from. Not knowing the name of the album those two songs were from, I started to randomly buy Alice Cooper records. First I bought this one, then pretties for you. Though I didn't get the two songs I was looking for, I was NOT disappointed. Alice became my NUMBER ONE FAVORITE rocker instantly!! The heavy guitar work is what did it for me,(at the time, I was just starting to learn to play guitar). The guitar work on those two albums topped ANY guitar work I had heard before. It was not only excellent, it was so different than what everyone else was doing at the time,(the style, the sound, the raw grittyness, etc.), Not to mention the powerful vocals Alice belted out. Together with Dennis' bass and Neil's drums, this WAS a band to be reckoned with! Oh yea, I eventually found out which album "Eighteen" and "Dwight fry" were on and bought it too, along with every other album Alice would ever make!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Alice Cooper - 'Easy Action' (Capitol)
Originally released in 1970,as this was the original band's second lp.About as good as the first effort 'Pretties For You'(see my review). As I remember,BOTH albums were pretty much a stiff UNTIL 'Billion Dollar Babies' became a million seller. After the Alice Cooper Group had become world known, that's when fans became interested in their early works such as 'Easy Action'.You can hear their Zappa influence. As for myself,I've never been that much of a Frank Zappa fan. Also felt the band's first two records showed just how much Alice&crew were,in fact ahead of their time.'Easy Action' is like part weird psychedelic and part hard rock.Tunes here I thought were impressive include "Mr.&Misdemeanor","Below Your Means","Return Of The Spiders"(dedicated to Gene Vincent)and "Lay Down And Die Goodbye".One of Cooper's lesser known gems.Recommended. ... Hey Stoopid never lets up. You won't hear any grungy or sludgy electric guitar static here. The clear and robust six-string sound helps deliver an '80's metal sound--AT ITS VERY FINEST!
5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite cooper album
This album is just amazing, it has 80's metal in it which is my favorite form of music, and has the classic Cooper twist in it, it's amazing, and should have recieved more commercial succsess then trash did, i'd recomend it to anyone.I can just listen to it through and through.

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm A Friend Of Vincent Damon Furnier.....Casually.
Vincent Damon Furnier (aka. Alice Cooper) is a man of many styles, and as a result he has been able to successfully adapt to the constantly changing musical trends. "Alice Cooper" originally started out as a "jam band" but with theatrics not associated or seen in other "jam bands" at that time; and Vincent has always critiqued and satired his society, so it should've come as no surprise when Vincent morphed his sound once more as the 1980's began. "New Wave" and "Punk" music was popular, and Vincent was not going to let his chance at making a statement about the present culture slip past him. AC was making "New Wave" music as early as the "Lace & Whiskey" album, so once again, this new sound should've been no surprise.
4-0 out of 5 stars Humor DOES belong in music!
"Flush The Fashion", as the first of Alice's "New Wave" albums shows the Coop in full humor mode. He doesn't seem to be in his best vocal form here, but that is because it's hard to sing with your tongue THAT far in your cheek! This album rocks in best early '80s fashion, the lyrics are funny (if a little dated now), you can hear the smirk on Alice's face all the way through it.
5-0 out of 5 stars Short But Sweet
"Flush" is one of Alice's best LP's, hands down. Those who were disappointed with it were too busy looking for something else. This record is straight-forward rock with a bit of a new-wave era flavor. No ballads, anthems, or shockers here. In other words, not what many had come to expect from Alice Cooper, but ten quick and gutsy rockers averaging slightly less than three minutes a piece with some pretty hilarious lyrics. While all the songs are great, the ones I love the best are "Model Citizen", "Pain", and "Clones".

5-0 out of 5 stars where have you been all mylife?
Marc Bolan and Steve Took produced 'Unicorn' as their third and final album together in May of 1969.Bolan's next release, 'A Beard Of Stars' would feature Micky Finn in Took's place.Finn would also occupy a place in Bolan's more notorious backing band, T-Rex, as they electrified their schtick with 1971's 'Electric Warrior'.Steve Took's contribution to this release, widely regarded as Bolan's finest acoustic piece, can hardly be underestimated.Though Bolan's Donovan Leich-like vocal mannerisms, compelling acoustic guitar playing, and composing talents are unquestionably center stage in Tyrannosaurus Rex, Took's vocals, bass guitar, and piano contributions are creative and indispensible to the finished product.
5-0 out of 5 stars Stunning work the like of which has not been heard since
Tyrannosaurus Rex, after releasing two charming but at times monotonous albums "My People Were Fair" and "Prophets Seers And Sages", perfected their sound on "Unicorn", creating a work which remains singularly unique in just about all genres of music to this day. Some T.Rex fans infatuated with Bolan's later electric glam image remain completely turned off by his earlier acoustic Tolkein-influenced work, but for those with an open ear "Unicorn" reveals just as many catchy, hummable tunes
5-0 out of 5 stars Like A White Star
About bloody time ..Unicorn is given its due..remastered with extras.Marc in the Yellow Vest never sounded so good !! I remember begging a girl in class Five ,1972 to swap me FacesNODS LP withsexy Poster FOR Zonophone Unicorn,,,I was SO Happy ..My Mother not so..she never got Chariots of Silk !! ..Unicorn is Marc at hisbest Tyrannosaurus..Steve Took nee Porter, so amazing..so Steve..Bless You....it transports you back in time.. wonder why its taken 36 years to give us the full treatment..In 1972 us Rex Children would have killed for an outtake...Thanks Universal and Barden/Paytress for your usual Bolan Gems..Pete Sanders should release a Book of all the BEST Bolan photos..Pete, you captured Marc at his Most Beautiful/ness...long before the drugs and Charles Sharr Murray stabbed Marc in every orifice known to NME.

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS IT !
The finest live album ever made.
5-0 out of 5 stars It's A Kind of Magic
Yes, we all know from reading the other reviews the sound quality isn't going to be blowing you away on any Dolby Digital 5.1 surround systems. But what makes this album so wonderful is because it is unlike any other Queen album. Sure you could go download studio versions of the songs on this album but unlike most live Albums I don't believe I heard one song that was the same as it's studio counterpart. 39" for example was a 12-string acoustic solo with Freddie singing the lead vocals. I'm not going to feed you that "they were in their prime" stuff because to me they always sound good and I don't notice much difference between Live Killers (79) and Live at Wembley Stadium (86) except for the sound quality and the fact that all the selections here were from their pre-synthesizer era. The songs are all unique here and many are uptempo, more upbeat, and more intense than their studio counterparts. All in all it's a fun album to listen to and it has a certain magic about it because as I said before there is no other Queen album out there like it. If you can look past the sound quality and don't mind the fact that it's different from the original the you won't be dissapointed.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Must Have for Queen Fans
I started listening to Queen in 1975 when my sister turned me on to Queen II. I never heard anything like them and probably never will. I bought every album they had up until the Game. I hadn't yet seen them live in 1979, so this was my introduction to their live performance. I purchased the vinyl album the day it was released and was blown away by the production and how Queen can perform their Studio songs Live. They often sound like there are more than 4 people on stage. A big highlight was getting to listen to a new faster version of We Will Rock You, which was a great song to open up with, and every song afterwards is simply great. So why not 5 stars? Well here are 2 things that annoyed me; there were some key songs missing and the QUEEN Medley. We'll start with songs that are missing,
