4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, considering that it was recorded in under 2 months
Rick Wakeman was indeed a very talented keyboardist, and was far more ambitious than Kaye was. Rather than the three stacked keyboards That Kaye used, Wakeman would surround himself with an array of various keyboard instruments. An electric harpsichord, an organ, one or two pianos, the ever important mellotron, and Lord knows how many synthasizers would surround him when he performed. "Fragile" was recorded so quickly mostly because Yes desperatly needed money to pay for all of Wakeman's equipment. As a result, only four songs on the album feature the band as a whole. They are: Roundabout, South Side of the Sky, Long Distance Runaround, and Heart of the Sunrise. All of which are flawless masterpieces. The rest of the songs are solo peices from each member of the band(I like to call them crap songs because they could really come in handy if one of the bandmembers has to take a crap during a live show). Each solo peice centered around that member's respective insturment. I was a little dissapointed to find that Wakeman's solo peice, called "Cans and Brahms", was simply a cover for an old clasical symphony, with a different keyboard instrument to take the place of each different section of an orchastra. The song does a great job of displaying wakeman's skill with multiple keyboard insturments (although I'm sure there was some overdubbing), but I wanted to hear what Wakeman could compose. Anderson's solo peice, called "We Have Heaven", is a beautiful, well structured song centered around multiple overdubs of his own voice to make a nice choior effect. It is accompanied by an acoustic guitar and drums. At the end of the song, you can hear the sound of someone crossing a room, eventually leaving the room, slamming the door. Bruford's solo peice, called "Five Per Cent of Nothing", is a 30 second burst of drums, electric guitar, bass, and organ . It is a strange song,if you can call it a song, but pretty good. If Yes used this "song" as a riff in another, longer song, it would sound great. Squier's solo piece, called "The Fish", is mostly a continuation of "Long Distance Runarouund" (there is absolutly no pause in between the two tracks) centered around his bass, with a few vocals from Anderson. Howe's solo peice, called "Mood For a Day", is a three minuet classical guitar peice with no other instruments. It is probably the best out of all the solo peices on the album. At the end of "Heart of the Sunrise", the last track on the album, you can hear the sound of someone entering a room. The whole group then shouts "Yes!", and the last few seconds of We Have Heaven are played, Making Fragile a sort of "semi concept album".
5-0 out of 5 stars fragile changed my life.
as but a young pup when yes released fragile, music still had the ability to shape your reality, the very way you saw things. with the addition of rick wakeman on keyboards and roger dean on artwork, yes created something totally unique, their own universe. there are a lot of great artists out there today, but no one has ever made a statement like fragile (sgt. pepper maybe!) later the same year yes would release close to the edge. how is that even possible?
5-0 out of 5 stars Aural bliss--pure and simple, this is classic Yes
There were two albums released by Yes in the year 1972--the stellar `Close to the Edge' and this earlier effort, `Fragile.'Yes--at this point consisting of Jon Anderson on lead vocals, Bill Bruford on drums, Steve Howe on guitars, Chris Squire on bass, and the newly-recruited Rick Wakeman on keyboards--had just scored a decent breakthrough with their third album, `The Yes Album,' in the previous year. They had actually broken the charts in America, and they had finally reached and fortified what would be their characteristic sound in the years and albums to come.

5-0 out of 5 stars another great by AC/DC
The Razor's Edge is the first AC/DC album I ever got and it turned me on to them. This is their comeback and it sounds great.
4-0 out of 5 stars A great and memorable effort by AC/DC in the '90s.
The Razor's Edge is another great rock album with many more hits than albums before it.
3-0 out of 5 stars Well, at least the first four songs are good...
This is a HUGE improvement over 80's albums such as Flick of the Switch, Blow Up Your Video and For Those About to Rock. It still feels kind of uninspired, but at least it contains three of my AC/DC favorites: Thunderstruck, Moneytalks and the title track, plus Fire Your Guns. But it dies out after this, and AC/DC churns out pointless song after pointless song. It's an improvement, though. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Despite what others say, I really like this...
This certainly isn't the only greatest hits album by Aerosmith, but it's the only one i have.I had most of their LP records years ago, but no longer have a turntable. This cd has some of my favorites by the band, as I like their older stuff better than the more recent.Everything from the late 80's on just is not as good in my opinion.
4-0 out of 5 stars at least its better than O yeah
Greatest Hits is Aerosmith's first compilation. It's also probably their best one, considering it had all the truly essential songs up to that point. Tracks like Mama Kin, Seasons of Wither, Train Kept a Rollin, Toys in the Attic, and Uncle Salty probably didn't appear on here cuz Aerosmith wanted to make a small compilation. It would be nearly perfect if it wasn't for the destruction of two great Aerosmith songs.
2-0 out of 5 stars If there's nothing better....
This is definitely not a bad collection, but there are so many better ones out there, that this should not be your first choice. The song Sweet Emotion has been completely destroyed on this album. the entire bass intro has been cut out, and the song starts about an entire minute into it. There really is no reason to do this, as even on the radio, they play the entire thing, as it runs about 4 and a half minutes long. The song starts at a terrible place too. It sounds like it would if you turned on your radio to the middle of the song, then just stuck it on the cd that way. Again, not a terrible compilation, but definitely not a good first choice. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Double-Disc Set Vocally Pairs A Buffoon With A Righteous Rocker
BEST OF BOTH WORLDS, a two-disc set of Van Halen's greatest hits and album tracks, equally splits the songs between those sung by that annoying buffoon David Lee Roth and those fronted by Sammy Hagar, who rightfully believes that the young Australian tourist jailed in Indonesia since 2005 for drug-smuggling was unjustly convicted; thankfully, the four new songs feature Hagar, not Roth, which makes this set a vast improvement over BEST OF, VOL. 1. People can complain that VH were never the same without Roth, but I don't take any stock in their whimpering and whining, and, in fact, those people don't deserve to waste our oxygen, because Hagar, besides being a better person than Roth, can kick Roth's butt as a singer any day. This is a great set, but you'd be better off buying the first three albums with Hagar instead.

4-0 out of 5 stars 27 years of hits!
I give this item four stars because there is no booklet with information and lyrics and it doesn't come in a plastic jewel case, that I'm personally accustomed to. These songs do rock though. Van Halen's 1978 self-titled debut brought RUNNIN' WITH THE DEVIL,ERUPTION,the Ray Davies-penned YOU REALLY GOT ME,AIN'T TALKIN' 'BOUT LOVE and JAMIE'S CRYIN'. JC was most recently re-released on the PRIVATE PARTS movie soundtrack in 1997. YRGM was first a hit in 1965 or '66 for Davies' band The Kinks. 1979 saw the release of the follow-up simply entitled VAN HALEN II. Hits from that album contnained in this collection are DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY and BEAUTIFUL GIRLS. This collection could have used the Linda Ronstadt hit YOU'RE NO GOOD. From 1980's WOMEN AND CHILDREN FIRST are AND THE CRADLE WILL ROCK and EVERYBODY WANTS SOME. From 1981's FAIR WARNING is UNCHAINED. From 1982's DIVER DOWN are covers of the Roy Orbison hit (OH)PRETTY WOMAN and the Martha & The Vandellas hit DANCING IN THE STREET. The multi-platinum 1984 brought JUMP,two versions of PANAMA which is the album version and a live version from 1993's RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW with Sammy Hagar,HOT FOR TEACHER and I'LL WAIT. After the release of 1984,frontman David Lee Roth left the band by the preference of his bandmates and was succeeded by Hagar, who previously had a solo career on the Geffen label. 1986 saw the release of 5150,with Hagar on board. This Warner Bros. album, like the band's predecessors, spawned WHY CAN'T THIS BE LOVE,DREAMS,LOVE WALKS IN and this album's title track. 5150 went multi-platinum also. From 1988's OU812,another megahit, comes WHEN IT'S LOVE and FINISH WHAT YOU STARTED. From UNLAWFUL CARNAL KNOWLEDGE,released in 1991,come POUNDCAKE,RUNAROUND,IN AND OUT and TOP OF THE WORLD(not to the confused with the Carpenters' recording which was completely, musically different). From 1995's BALANCE is I CAN'T STOP LOVING YOU(not to be confused with the Don Gibson composition made famous by the late Ray Charles). One of the new tracks on this album is UP FOR BREAKFAST which is cool. All the other songs are great.

2-0 out of 5 stars Def Lep sell out
I was so hyped to get this album when it was released. After the double shot High & Dry and Pyromania, Def Leppard could do no wrong in my eyes.... Then they released Hysteria.Very polished, very slick, very pop.The metal was gone and so was I as one of their fans.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hysteria! Def Leppard's best album to date!
I love Def Leppard. They were the sound of the 1980s. They were regular perfomers on MTV during the 1980s. They not only made videos but they made music history. I was watching the movie based on the group's beginnings and the troubles. The fact that the drummer plays with only one arm after a tragic car accident shows the band's determination in returning to the concert halls as Def Leppard. The boys from Sheffield, South Yorkshire were just ordinary boys who wanted to form a band. This album with their first hit, Pour Some Sugar On Me, played endless and countless times on MTV. I won't forget the other songs like Hysteria, Love Bites, Armageddon, and I think this collection showed that Def Leppard was back and better than ever. They matured and grew and suffered some setbacks. They lived during the period of sex, drugs, and music. It's still music today. It's classic. I think of Def Leppard as one of the greatest music bands in British history.

2-0 out of 5 stars A Tale of Two Audiences....MTV pop or NWOBHM?
Hysteria.

5-0 out of 5 stars Blood stained the ivories...
A rough and tumble, powerhouse rock n' roll band, Aerosmith was America's answer to British Rock. 'Toys in the Attic', released in March 1975, may not be their greatest album (that would be the follow-up 'Rocks'), but it's pretty darn close. Building their success the old fashioned way as the late John Houseman would say (They earned it!), Aerosmith were the ultimate road warriors, playing America's high school gyms and social halls while worrying if they were about to get the axe from their own record company and they came to the symbolize hard rock excellence in the 1970's. The anthems are well known and probably overplayed for some on classic rock radio. "Sweet Emotion" will always be in my top three...the into, the outro, the sleeze, the sass...man its all there, including the voice box guitar! "Toys", the song, opens the album with primal urgency, kind of like Boston's own "Immigrant Song". "No More No More" is as good as it gets; lyrics (being on the road has got to be bitch!), arrangement, production - all flawless! "Round and Round" is Sabbathesque, as heavy as Aerosmith would ever get! "Walk This Way" bugs me now but it is still one of the most inflential songs of the last 30 years (rock and rap anybody). "Adam's Apple" is more my style, back when Cain was Abel! (check ou the live version from 'Pandora's Box' with Joe "F'n Perry saying "this is hard work" before he launches into the riff!). Whatever drugs the band was doing, an oh my were they aplenty, they seemed to help them create this timeless material. An although Mister Tyler may not remember "You See Me Cryin" (that story is hilarious in the book "Walk This Way"), Aerosmith enthusiasts will never forget the merry-go round in 1975, the year that America threw her hat into the ring of hard rock greatness.

4-0 out of 5 stars good, but simple
This is a good album, i've heard aerosmith's best. They are put as 70s "metal".This is just not my favorite. it is too simple, the songs are slow, repetitive, and sound like joe perry is just using close together frets over and over.i like
3-0 out of 5 stars record company is greedy
This is a great work from the 1970s. The band was at their prime. The songs are all classic.

5-0 out of 5 stars Meatloaf is one of the best Music Lords
I don't think I've been more drawn in by music since ever! Any chance I find a Meatloaf song. It's immediately on my MP3 Player. If I don't got the cord to get the song I'll e-mail it to myself so I can sync it later. That's just Meatloaf. The kind of music you've got to have.
5-0 out of 5 stars All of the Best From Meat Loaf
Meat Loaf and legendary songwriter Jim Steinman collaborated in the 70s to produce the ground-breaking album "Bat Out of Hell", and in 1993 to produce the follow-up "Bat Out of Hell II".In between, several other albums were released, and these more obscure albums still managed to produce some memorable songs.

I've been a fan of Meatloaf since His album "Bat of Hell".I like the dramatic use of orchestral and backgound vocals.I think that Meatloft's voice is so powerful, and these songs prove that. 5-0 out of 5 stars Heart's debut is still a classic musical breze after 30 years
Heart's classic debut album Dreamboat Annie was released in April of 1976(30 years ago).
5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect start for some pretty ladies
Ann and Nancy Wilson stole my heart, so to speak, when I first heard them way back in 1976. Heart's debut is a classic to say the least and it showcases one of the best female groups in rock history. "Magic Man", "Dreamboat Annie" and "Crazy On You" highlight this CD but there are some lesser known tunes that rock with the best of them ("White Lightning & Wine", "(Love Me Like Music)I'll Be Your Song" and "Sing Child"). Heart was the female answer in the '70s to Led Zeppelin and are still rocking to this day, although much mellower now than then.

5-0 out of 5 stars Take a ride with "Annie"
Dreamboat Annie is one of my all time favorite albums. I always think of it as a concept album like Captain Beyond, Wishbone Ash's Argus, and The Eagles Desperado. This is another of the many albums that I've owned on all the different media types available since the 1970's when it debuted. I will always remember listening to it when I would feel homesick for the west coast while living overseas the Pacific Ocean waves crashing in the background that set the theme for this album could take me to my "happy place".

I have listened to queen ever since I was a kid. There music is so kinetic and inspiring. Freddie Mercury had a voice that couldn't be beaten. This album is one of my favorites. It contains a great selection of their best stuff, from "Bohemian Rhapsody" to "These are the Days of Our Lives", early and new. I also believe Queen to be highly underated. I rarely hear them on the radio and many people I have talked to can only think of "We will Rock You" when I ask them if they have heard of Queen.

5-0 out of 5 stars The most wonderful children's CD ever made
My family grew up with these songs, we have gone through multiple copies as they have been well worn & misplaced as we took them everywhere. I am so excited to find that there is an edition still availble as I raise my kids for them to fall in love with all the music from my childhood heart. I have sung more songs to them from off of this album than from anywhere else. I can't recommend this highly enough.

My daughter and I adore this CD! We would sing along to it where ever we went! Our favorite is Blueberry Pie by Bette Middler. The CD finally got way too scratched up to play so we have not had the pleasure of hearing it for over a year. :( Emily is 7 now and still asks me to please put on her favorite CD. Now that I have found it again, she will be so happy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A solid Deep Purple sampler
This is a pretty good collection for a single disc. But really, shouldn't one of the greatest hard rock bands of all, deserve more than this. But if you are just starting out with your exploration of Deep Purple it's good enough. But, also be sure to pick up their 1972 live album, Made In Japan. Deep Purple became legendary through their concerts back in the day and this CD will give you a clue why. Having both, The Very Best of Deep Purple and Made In Japan, should help paint a semi clear picture of this great band.

4-0 out of 5 stars Set the controls for 1975
I get a kick out of this album.Put it in your stereo, and suddenly you're in the parking lot behind your suburban high school in 1975, smoking cigarettes with your friends beside a pickup truck while cutting algebra class.Doesn't matter what age you actually are, this album transports you directly to that point in space-time.It's uncanny.
3-0 out of 5 stars Has not aged well
I will always have an affinity for Smoke on the Water, Highway Star, Woman from Tokyo , Hush but I cannot ignore the fact that this music sounds very dated. It has not withstand the test of time the way that Led Zep music has.

5-0 out of 5 stars 4.5 Stars, a great 70s rock debut.
Bad Company's 1974 debut is probably one of the best examples of the state of popular rock music in the 70s: The songs all have a definite blues influence, with shades of country, folk, and soul thrown in for good measure. But instead of gritty and raw, these songs are catchy and instantly listenable. In a sense, Bad Company combined the most accessable elements of American roots music. This may not sound like such a great idea, but it actually works quite well: The music is lean, muscualr, and catchy, the band is tight and professional, and the overal feel is that of watching an experienced group of rock and roll veterans jamming together. "Can't Get Enough" is the big hit, and deservedly so: With its chunky power chords and strutting vocals, it's a seventies blues-power-pop anthem. "Ready For Love" is a smoky ballad with some surprisingly touching vocals from Paul Rodgers. The title track is a rumbling country-western anthem, "Seagull" is a dreamy accoustic number, and the funky "Rock Steady" just plain rocks. Mick Ralphs' guitar riff on the latter song is probably the coolest thing ever. EVER.
5-0 out of 5 stars Classic '74 debut gets the remastered treatment
THE BAND: Paul Rodgers (vocals, guitar, piano/keyboards), Mick Ralphs (guitars), Boz Burrell (bass), Simon Kirke (drums & percussion).

5-0 out of 5 stars Boston's Second Great Album Just Got Better
DON'T LOOK BACK, Boston's second great album in a row, just got even better with digital remastering and bonus cuts to show what went into its creation. Once again, as with the debut, the innovation in Tom Scholz's guitar work is not who the influences were (namely, raw-energy players such as Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, and James Gang-era Joe Walsh), but rather how these influences were blended with the ambitious pop of such innovators as Todd Rundgren to create a unique, high-tech rock style. And talk about lyrics! The only real "party" tunes here are "Feelin' Satisfied" and "Party", and since they don't seem to jive well with the other songs, which speak of the struggle to survive and even triumph in difficult circumstances, being that Scholz has said that, given more time he would have replaced some songs with others, those two would seem to have been potential candidates for the hook. While Scholz has criticized the album as not being all that it could have been due to record-company pressures to have an album in the stores, it still inspires me to work harder on my dream of staying in good physical shape. Boston's advocacies of sanctions on Indonesia in retaliation for that country's trumped-up 2005 drug-smuggling conviction of a young Australian tourist, as well as increased funding for community policing, make DON'T LOOK BACK an essential purchase for both your ears AND your conscience.

5-0 out of 5 stars Boston's Best Album!
Although Boston's debut album is by far their best seller, and seems to be the favorite Boston record of everyone I know, it's not mine. In my oppinion, "Don't Look Back" is Boston's best. I played this baby constantly in college, and it still sounds fresh today. Every song is so good, it's difficult to say which one is my favorite. Objectively, I would say "A Man I'll Never Be" and "Feelin' Satisfied" may be the best written songs, but "Don't Be Afraid" is the song I can't listen to sitting down. I'm not sure if I've heard that song in a long time without my voice screeching along with it.

1-0 out of 5 stars A more fitting album title than "Rocks" would have been "Sucks"
Don't waste your time on this one. It was one of their early cds from when they still hadn't perfected their songwriting craft. It's really just a bunch of screaming and noise. It makes a gg allin record sound like Emerson Lake and Palmer by comparison. If you want to hear some good aerosmith I recommend Get A Grip or the Armageddon soundtrack, so you can experience the classics like "I Don't Wanna Miss a thing" and "Crazy Amazing Crying Crazy" If there was a zero stars rating, believe me this worthless album would get it. I want my 12 dollars back steve perry! >:(

5-0 out of 5 stars Rocks simply rocks
Toys In The Attic and Rocks are a classic one two punch and I daresay this is the stronger album, it's a very hard choice to make though. Rocks is most definitely Aerosmith's heaviest and hardest rocking album of any decade. This album is full of gems. You can tell that they had their heads screwed on when this album was made. Each album up until this point had gotten progressively better. This is the peak. Aerosmith at their raunchy bluesy best. Soon the drugs would take them down, but not before they released Rocks, the greate
