One of Disneys Best!
So Disney has a tendency to take basic ideas and make them astheticly wonderful, but the real musical theater aspect is lost. Luckily, Aida does not fall in that category. The only main artistic license that Disney took with "Aida" was making her form Nubia (shes from a different country in the opera) so they could play the whole race card. That aside, I love this musical. The Music is great, the lyrics are great, I listened to it non stop when I first got it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. My favorite songs would be "The Gods Love Nubia" and "Written in The Stars."

Not bad... Not good...
One major reason to buy this CD is the EXCELLENT cast, Sherie Renee Scott, Heather Headly, Adam Pascal, but the score is lacking. There are a few good songs that make it into my favorites but the rest seem to be just fillers, I would buy the four good songs off of iTunes and leave the rest to be undiscovered.
Aida is definitely worth buying
I became a "Renthead" as soon as I heard the music, and immediately fell in love with the voices of Adam Pascal and Idina Menzel. I heard about "Aida", and how Adam was in it, and how Idina had done it at one point, too, so I figured, "Why not?" So I tried it. And I'm really glad I did. Not only is Adam's rocker voice amazing, Elton John and Tim Rice really outdid themselves. "Aida" is a lot like "The Lion King", which was also really successful. At first I thought that I would be really biased against Sherie Rene Scott because she plays the part that Idina had. I was afraid I would totally blow off her voice, going, "It's not Idina. Whatever." But although she is not Idina, she is really good in her own way, and I think her voice is very beautiful and has a very strong tone. Then, I had heard so much about the "phenomenal" Heather Headley, but I have to say, I was somewhat non-impressed. I was waiting for this voice to totally blow me away, but I found her voice kind-of sharp and rough at times, not like the PLEASINGLY jagged voice of Adam, or the smooth liquidity of Sherie Rene. But even though I didn't think she had the best performance by far, this is still a very good buy. If you like uplifting Pop/Rock music, and beautiful love ballads,you will love "Aida". ... Sting is the MAN!
I have been a fan of Sting ever since I was in college.I actually got to see him in person in the late 80's.I have just about every cd he has ever put out so when this one did I ran right out and bought it.Every song on it is great and it IS one of my most favorite cd's I own.

Much has been said in praise of this recording in the other reviews. I can't add to it. On the surface I enjoy most of it, particularly Fields of Gold. I was looking for a "Best-of" for Sting and this is really good. I wish it had "Little Wing", but it's a nice collection all the same. However, on the down side. Why are there so many songs that have these cracks at faith, Jesus and God? How tiring. Please spare me the rock and roll theologians who think they're asking the profound questions. His ignorance of the bible is so thorough, he ruins his own songs!

Exceptional greatest hits album!
Sting's best of album from 1994 showed such a remarkable transition from a hit making band the Police into a successful solo artist. I'm kind of put off by the album title because I didn't hear any new solo music from him in 1984--we heard his first album out in 1985! All my favorites are on here, from If You Love Somebody, Russians, We'll Be Together, All This Time, Fields of Gold, Be Still My Beating Heart, Englishman in New York, Fortress Around My Heart (how it shifts from soft mood to loud rock guitars back to back and then back to soft is quite something!)and others. I love the two new songs; sort of a '90s trend for some artists making greatest hits albums. I still love When We Dance 11 years later; proof that his songs still remain timeless!This is such a smartly done collection that doesn't rely on his hits, but on some more artistic songs that weren't singles too. Good Old America

Remastered?
This is a great album. The only complaint I have is the remastering. About 2/3 through the song "Night Moves" there is a worbling in and out that sticks out like a sore thumb. It made me cringe. It sounded like a worn out cassette tape. I could've made a CD from an LP that would have sounded better than that mess. To me, it ruined the song. I'll have to listen from the greatest hits I suppose.

Seger's best work
This album is simply a killer. Bob Seger in those days was playing raw, essential rock and roll at its best. One Of Seger's Best!

Jimi Hendrix Experience falls short, just a little bit
Lots of good songs here, even a couple classics, but there's lots of filler as well. The Experiences debut album didn't have filler, or as much. The good news, the production of Axis: Bold As Love is better than the debut, but that's about it. The album cover isn't as good as the debut either.
Great Album!!!
I love this album!! I just started getting into Jimi Hendrix last year and this was the first album I heard from him.Every track on here is outstanding, but my favorites are "Spanish Castle Magic", "Wait Until Tomorrow", "If 6 was 9" "Aint No Tellin","Up from the Skies",and "One Rainy Wish".Really the WHOLE album is good, definetly worth the money.I have Electric Ladyland as well, but I prefer Axis:Bold as Love over it.A lot of the lyrics I dont understand, but this doesnt take away from the musical experience that Jimi, Noel, and Mitch provide for the listener.

GREAT ALBUM
I was looking through the used section of a CD store one day, and every single CD in the used section was a terrible CD either un heard of, or some NOW CD or some crap like that, asi continued searching i saw a CD by Hendrix called AXis BOLD As love.Their was a sign that said all used cd's under $3 are 30 cents, Axis bold as love cost 30 cents.I knew something had to wrong.How could the jimi hendrix cd be cheaper than the now cd;s used ace base cds, Shi##Ty backstreet boys debut albums and sh#it like that.I was confused but i purchased it anyway b/c 30 cents is nothing.when i put the cd in the player i loved the album.Its an incredible album but it doesn't contian any hits like his previous album did.Its less heavy in my oppinion, but the songs are just great peices of work, and shows that hendrix is not just a great guitarist, but a great songwriter as well.

Unplugged: From "Friday Night" to Layla
The reviewer who noted that Clapton's songs are made fresher by being unplugged is right on! For me Clapton is one of founding fathers of electric guitar. His work in Cream is the subconscious. Here he is kinder and gentler, more subtle and, like a good wine, better than ever. I especially think this applies to the Johnson material (Malted Milk, Walkin' Blues). Many people have heard of Eric Clapton's music. Some people love him and some people don't. I believe that this CD show's his true skill in music (Eric Clapton Unplugged). Eric Clapton displays his true dominance of the modern blues genre. I believe that Clapton is the best modern day blues musician because of his master of tone.

First CD I ever owned, favorite album of all time!
No kidding, this is THE best U2 album and not only that, easily in the Top-10 greatest albums of ALL TIME.This album is flawless.I still break it out every now and then and can't believe how good it is.This album will always be special to me in so many ways.I listened to it daily for over a year during one of the greatest years of my life.
Not only U2's best album, but also one of the greatest albums ever!
Wow. What an amazing album. It seems like not enough people pay attention to U2's 90's music. After Achtung Baby was Zooropa, which I really enjoyed and then there was Pop, which I thought was just "okay". Anyways, Achtung Baby is definitely U2's best album. Here are my ratings for each song:
"One" Techno Masterpiece!
'Achtung' has to rate as one of two of the best albums by U2.It ranks with 'Joshua Tree,' which has more variety, even if 'Achtung' gratifies the listener with more immediacy.U2 reinvents their own sound wheel with the help of Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, once again, but with "Flood" added to the helm.The lyrics cover the gamut of love realized and unrealized with the fluency and passion of their best work.

Good PF rocker on this one
AMLOR is a great PF album. I always enjoyed Floyd for the music rather than lyrics and so depart from the judgments of many of the Waters fans here. Floyd's progressive mix of R&B and dissonant guitar-driven sounds set them apart and it's on display here much more so than the followup Division Bell. This may be a Gilmour album in all but name, but that ain't necessarily a bad rap.

Weak effort that has not aged well
Been a big PF fan for years since and recently revisited AMLOR - having seen the tour I had great hopes & memories of this album. After repeated listenings all I can say is that I'm disappointed. This CD has been pumped up and overrated on Amazon by hardcore PF fans.This is just not that good of a CD. There are some good songs on this album like 'Learning to fly', but overall a weak effort. I found myself hitting the next button more then listing to the album straight through. There is too much use of Pink's '5th man' in terms of sounds effects, which have added so nicely to their classic works, but only date this album signifcantly. This album is only for hardcore fans.
Good, not great
I am a huge Pink Floyd fan. Though I like some tracks like learning to fly, the entire album sound feels a little tired and synthetic. Lyrically it feels a bit prissy and commercial at times (it's like a polished facsimile of earlier PF works). The 'contemporary feel' that others talk about is precisely what I don't like about this album.

Against the Wind
The CD I got is a "digitally remastered" version of the original. It seems to me that they took the opportunity to smooth out the rough edges in Seger's voice, like the used to do to Roger Daltry.
My favorite Seger CD. His zenith has you boppin.
From the beginning with "Horizontal Bop" to the closing with "Shining Brightly," Seger exceeds "Night Moves in quantity and quality. He got more radio play off of this CD, and from more stations. "Her Strut" is one of my favorite Seger songs. And "Fire Lake, Betty Lou, Accompany Me," and "Against The Wind" are all fabulous Seger classics, lyricallly and musically. I know there's lots of folks who say there wasn't much breadth to Seger's musical ability. But once you take Seger for what he's worth, judge him by his era, his contemporaries and what it is exactly he does best, it's hard to find any future or previous CDs by him that measure up to this one. Of course, there's also the immeasurable "nostalgia" that many have for this CD, not to mention the buiit in nostalgia Seger puts into most of his music and storytelling. I think it will stand the test of time.

Against The Wind is a welcome sound for the Eighties
Having been a Bob Seger fan since the early seventies this album is in true form.Acompany Me has been my favorite,even more so then Old time Rock and Roll.Maybe I can still see Tom Cruise dancing on the couch in his underwear or maybe I just got tired of it.Anyway with songs like Against the Wind and Fire Lake are great.The one song that in my opinion is weak is Horizontal Bop. The first time I played this album I thought oh no the whole album is going to be like this......Nah.Whats nice now a days i can skip this track ......26 years later i'm still skipping.OVERALL: This is a great album its just Horizontal Bop is out of place. ... I Don't Hate It But I Don't See How It's the Bestselling Record
I personally think the Eagles, despite some good songs, are an overrated band. This album is the greatest-selling album of all time, so I guess I am a minority here if I think it's overrated. I like some of the songs, and I don't like others. Let me tell you my thoughts on the specific tracks:

Exceptional best-of set
Of course you know all these songs, and of course there are many more great cuts deeper on the original albums, but for a single-disc review of a band with over 10 years' worth of releases, this 18-track set is hard to beat.The group went through several striking stylistic changes over its lifetime, but that variation actually helps this disc hold together as an album as well as a set of songs.
A nice compilation of The Talking Heads
I've always liked The Talking Heads, they always had catchy songs that were fun to listen to. I must admit, my favorite of theirs has always been "Burning Down The House", but there are so many good songs on here, as well. The Talking Heads were one of the best bands of the 80's, that's when they had their best work. The 70's were ok, too, but their 80's work really shined. I'm quite happy with this.

Articulate Collection
Oddly, a compilation by Talking Heads should come out uneven and disjointed, but this collection is marvelously done.The songs meld well together and provide a sampler that wouldn't prevent anyone from buying their excellent original albums.('Talking Heads '77,' 'Remain in Light,' and 'Speaking in Tongues' are their crowning achievements artistically, but 'Fear of Music,' 'More Songs About Buildings and Food,' and 'True Stories' demonstrate that they had a great repertoire. (Unlike, 'Sand in the Vaseline,' which is also excellent, but perhaps takes too many gems and doesn't align them as well.)

Seger's Smokin OP's
This is an excellent cd for any Seger fan, avid or not - good old fashioned R&R! Amazon service was quick, fast and hassle free.

Second Time Around (On CD)
This is a great album as all the reviewers have already said. There is not much I can add to what they have said, except that no one seems to remember that this CD and 3 others have been released before. They are Mongrel, Ramblin' Gamblin' Man, Seven, and Smokin' O.P's. They were out in '92 or '93. They went out of print pretty fast. I have these and the new version of S.O.P.'s. It definetly sounds better with the new remastering. "Back in '72" was listed in Ice Magazine for release on 8-16-05 but it didn't happen. Must have been pushed back. That album has never been released on CD, so it will be a welcome addition to my collection. Hopefully, the powers-that-be will see fit to re-release the others with the new remastered sound which is superior to the first go rounds. Also, I vaguely remember seeing "Noah" on vinyl years ago, but I don't recall much about it. I was really looking forward to the "Back in '72" CD. I found a good copy of it on vinyl a few months ago and transferred it to my computer which sounds o.k. My favorite is "Rosalie" which Thin Lizzy covered much to the original way Bob did it.....Heavy Music, Indeed!! ... Read more

Great Music
I was in Jr. High School when most of Steve Miller Band's Hits were popular. The music sounds as good today as they did some 30 years ago. I love The Joker and I think our radio station here in town plays it more than any other song by SMB. Another good song is Serenade. I love the guitar work on this song as well as Jet Airliner. Fly Like An Eagle is also a very good song with some fine guitar work. Rock 'N' Me is a very mellow song that my friends and I used to sing to a lot and we knew every word. Steve Miller Band was one of the most popular bands of the 70's. My favorite song on this CD is Take The Money And Run. It is about two teenagers in love and they have nothing better to do than steal money from a bank or store and they keep running from the law and as the song says, they are still running today.
This is just the commercial hits
It is too bad that so many people's view of the Steve Miller Band centers around this album.First off, there isn't enough space on a CD to truly contain all of Steve's best work.

simply amazing
i remember getting my first cd player for christmas when i was 14 with it i got a cd carrying various classic cd's, this cd was one of them.to tell the truth i have been listing to the stones since i was 5, and i knew then i like the way they sounded.being a kid i hadn't a clue about the various styles they played, but as i grew older and started appreciating music as a whole i relized that these guys will always be remebered as the bes of the best.Ever since i got this cd, i have listened to it over and over, i am 24 now and for the first time i am going to see them live.this set cements the fact that what ever these guys touch, turns to gold.stripped is a shining example of what a comp cd should be, most comp cd's just touch on a bands greatnes, only having one or two hits and the rest the dregs of thier worst cd's.don't get me wrong it's good to hear the less played songs, some the stones best stuff is hardly ever played o nthe radio, over all this is a must have in any cd collection

Anybody who gives this 1 star, has no idea what classics are, or what real music is. I'm a diehard hip hop fan and I know what the rolling stones mean to music. I listened to my fathers collection and all there albums are classics to me. I say get the albums before this. Either way you cant go wrong.

Boston - 'Greatest Hits' (Sony)
Review no. 132. Nicely assembled 16 track compilation of hits / fan favorite tunes off the arena rock master's first three albums, self-titled('76), 'Don't Look Back'('78) and 'Third Stage'('86). Plus there are three exclusive cuts here that you cannot find on any other CD, "Tell Me","Star Spangled Banner" and "Higher Power" which are so-so. Not even sure if 'Greatest Hits' is geared toward the Boston die-hards or the casual fans. Either way,it does make for decent listening. Oh, great cover, don't you agree?

What a very bad joke! Boston are one of the worst bands I have ever purchased. They are one of the worst besides the Beatles. They are not legends at all. This is a really horrible greatest hits collection which has no good songs at all. More than a feeling is one of the lousiest most dumb songs I have ever heard.

An awesome collection from the greatest female vocalist ever.
There's not that many more superlatives that I can add to what other reviewers have stated about the sheer artistic (and physical) prowess that Pat Benatar has exhibited througout her career.
Good, Could've been Great
I love the remastering, I love the deja vu it gives me on road trips, but I really miss the one song that brought me and countless others into her camp in 1979, the ultra-cool new wave song "If You Think You Know How To Love Me", still one of the coolest songs ever. Sadly, I have yet to see one of these comps get it right, even when it's so obvious and easy that anyone outside of the (I was there for quite awhile-I know) music industry could have done it.

Great Compilation of Hits from An Incredible Vocalist
I recently purchased this CD and was pleased with how many of Pat Benatar's hits were included.This was certainly a great value.There were many songs I had forgotten that she had done and was pleasantly surprised to hear them again.

Billy Gibbons is an influence;but this?
One look at the tracks...naw. Just buy the first album,maybe the 2nd, DeGuello...the rest of the 80's stuff was saturated junk (IMHO).

Almost perfect Def Leppard collection...
This is definitely one of the best "Greatest Hits/Best Of" collections around, It covers Leppard's entire career and only has a few glaring omissions. If you are new to Def Leppard, this is a good place to start since it has their biggest hits and most of the best songs from all of their releases. If you have been a fan for a long time, it's nice to have this much great music on two discs.

I`m a huge fan of Def-Leppard, this album really rocks with some surprisingly good songs. If your a Def-Leppard fan you will love it, you won`t be disappointed. It`s worth every penny!!

Do you like the 80's? One Disc or two?
This double disc best of is like having a Def Lep super hits jukebox. Thirty four tracks, rather neatly divided into two discs, packed to the gills and a nifty liner book with band members commenting on the songs (personal favorite, "Slang" was about phone sex!). This twin CD renders the old "Vault" superfluous.
