Needs more recognition
Growing up in Indiana, you couldn't NOT be a Mellencamp fan.I embraced his music and lyrics with a passion, and to this day, he remains my favorite artist.As for this collection, I bought it although I have every CD he has recorded.What goes most unnoticed to me is the lack of respect his musicians most rightly have earned.I could have done without When Jesus Left Birmingham, and he could have included several other songs, most notable to me would be Between a Laugh and a Tear.But John and the record label get it mostly right.Another reviewer noted that the sax solo in Love and Happiness is a nuisance, but I find it my favorite part of the song, and yes, it is louder in the mix.John and his band rocks, and you won't regret picking this up.

CougarCamp at his best
This an excellent greatest hits album. the only thing I found lacking was he didn't include the Van Morrison cover hit. Overall if you can have only one John Mellencamp album.This would be the one to have.

Not enough of their non-hits that are still great songs
I was hoping to make do with a "best of" Three Dog Night, purchasing this CD so that I wouldn't have to replace all of my vinyl.But this is sadly lacking; an incomplete "complete hits" collection.I miss "Pieces of April""My old Kentucky Home" and other of the lesser knowns (still hits in my book) from their old albums.Also, not sure if the equipment on which I played it was off, but I didn't like the mix I got--the balance of high-midrange was too heavy and I wanted the crisp kick from a good treble and bass peak.Still its good to have around just for refreshing me on the lyrics during my alone-time sing-alongs at the top of my lungs. Just want better "back up."

One of the Great 1970s Rock Albums
I've always been a huge Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band fan since they first put these albums out.The songs had their meanings then and they have their meanings now--and they still sound great!
Still gets me dancing...
I loved these tunes when they were on album a hard rock cd of old time rock and roll
I am not sure that "old time rock and roll" is a very good song anymore, because it hasn't aged well, but most everything else is good.stuff like "hollywood nights" "feel like a number" and the extraordinary "the famous final scene" make this a memorable album.Some of the songs don't sound that great anymore, but they are all pretty darn good and worth listening to.I recommend this cd to any fan of classic rock, it goes good with a lot of music. ... will suck you in until you cannot escape
I have to be careful with this album, because if I hear the first few songs I get sucked into it and end up listening to the entire thing even if I don't have the time.

What has time done for this album?
Honestly, I think that time has done alot for this album. Think about this; The Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds" was a huge departure for them when originally released; so much so that Capitol showed their lack of confidence in the record by releasing "The Best of The Beach Boys" at around the same time, and without a single track from "Pet Sounds." Needless to say, with their own record company helping to kill it; here in the U.S. "Pet Sounds" sold poorly in terms of Beach Boys record sales, while the compilation package reached the top 10. Similarly, comparisons with "Sgt. Pepper" and "Forever Changes" are like comparing a luxury car to a scooter, not due to content-although I personally find "Forever Changes" a much more essential and enjoyable listen than "Sgt. Pepper" or "Pet Sounds," and I really like "Pet Sounds," can't say the same for "Sgt. Pepper"-but due to the popularity (or lack of) of the two groups.

I'll never understand why some people act as though their opinion is more valid and worthy of attention than everyone elses.You hate Forever Changes.Move on.I, and a lot of others, believe it is a flawless recording that fits the time period perfectly.If you'd rather listen to Buckley or whoever, fine.Just don't spew out ridiculous statements of how horrible Lee's voice is (and Buckley sound like Nat King Cole right?), how awful the instruments sound, how horrid the lyrics are.Say you don't like it and get over it. ... The Beatles have now faded into legend. Future music historians will doubtlessly classify them as the most popular, innovative, and important rock group of the twentieth century. But the group that produced Sgt. Pepper, the White Album, and revolutionalized western culture began as a slick pop group that sang mostly love songs. In late 1963, when "With The Beatles" was released in England, the brunt of the British invasion had not yet pummelled America. Vastly Underrated Masterpiece
Led Zeppelin, more than almost any other band, was a band that wasn't about individual songs, but entire albums.Each one of their albums tends to have a distinctive tone that sets it apart from the others.Shallow listeners perhaps didn't appreciate the direction Zeppelin had taken with this album, and while yes, it is true that the two blistering hard rockers here, Immigrant Song and Out On the Tiles, have nowhere near the depth of I and II's epic masterpieces, they are still adequate.And an "adequate" piece by Zeppelin standards is almost any other rock band's magnum opus.
The Led Mine
Led Zeppelin is undoubtedly one of the best bands of all time and there is no argument with this album. There is real no weakness here like every other Zeppelin album. This is my personal favorite Zeppelin album and is just a classic.

One of Disneys Best!
So Disney has a tendency to take basic ideas and make them astheticly wonderful, but the real musical theater aspect is lost. Luckily, Aida does not fall in that category. The only main artistic license that Disney took with "Aida" was making her form Nubia (shes from a different country in the opera) so they could play the whole race card. That aside, I love this musical. The Music is great, the lyrics are great, I listened to it non stop when I first got it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. My favorite songs would be "The Gods Love Nubia" and "Written in The Stars."

Not bad... Not good...
One major reason to buy this CD is the EXCELLENT cast, Sherie Renee Scott, Heather Headly, Adam Pascal, but the score is lacking. There are a few good songs that make it into my favorites but the rest seem to be just fillers, I would buy the four good songs off of iTunes and leave the rest to be undiscovered.
Aida is definitely worth buying
I became a "Renthead" as soon as I heard the music, and immediately fell in love with the voices of Adam Pascal and Idina Menzel. I heard about "Aida", and how Adam was in it, and how Idina had done it at one point, too, so I figured, "Why not?" So I tried it. And I'm really glad I did. Not only is Adam's rocker voice amazing, Elton John and Tim Rice really outdid themselves. "Aida" is a lot like "The Lion King", which was also really successful. At first I thought that I would be really biased against Sherie Rene Scott because she plays the part that Idina had. I was afraid I would totally blow off her voice, going, "It's not Idina. Whatever." But although she is not Idina, she is really good in her own way, and I think her voice is very beautiful and has a very strong tone. Then, I had heard so much about the "phenomenal" Heather Headley, but I have to say, I was somewhat non-impressed. I was waiting for this voice to totally blow me away, but I found her voice kind-of sharp and rough at times, not like the PLEASINGLY jagged voice of Adam, or the smooth liquidity of Sherie Rene. But even though I didn't think she had the best performance by far, this is still a very good buy. If you like uplifting Pop/Rock music, and beautiful love ballads,you will love "Aida". ... Sting is the MAN!
I have been a fan of Sting ever since I was in college.I actually got to see him in person in the late 80's.I have just about every cd he has ever put out so when this one did I ran right out and bought it.Every song on it is great and it IS one of my most favorite cd's I own.

Much has been said in praise of this recording in the other reviews. I can't add to it. On the surface I enjoy most of it, particularly Fields of Gold. I was looking for a "Best-of" for Sting and this is really good. I wish it had "Little Wing", but it's a nice collection all the same. However, on the down side. Why are there so many songs that have these cracks at faith, Jesus and God? How tiring. Please spare me the rock and roll theologians who think they're asking the profound questions. His ignorance of the bible is so thorough, he ruins his own songs!

Exceptional greatest hits album!
Sting's best of album from 1994 showed such a remarkable transition from a hit making band the Police into a successful solo artist. I'm kind of put off by the album title because I didn't hear any new solo music from him in 1984--we heard his first album out in 1985! All my favorites are on here, from If You Love Somebody, Russians, We'll Be Together, All This Time, Fields of Gold, Be Still My Beating Heart, Englishman in New York, Fortress Around My Heart (how it shifts from soft mood to loud rock guitars back to back and then back to soft is quite something!)and others. I love the two new songs; sort of a '90s trend for some artists making greatest hits albums. I still love When We Dance 11 years later; proof that his songs still remain timeless!This is such a smartly done collection that doesn't rely on his hits, but on some more artistic songs that weren't singles too. Remastered?
This is a great album. The only complaint I have is the remastering. About 2/3 through the song "Night Moves" there is a worbling in and out that sticks out like a sore thumb. It made me cringe. It sounded like a worn out cassette tape. I could've made a CD from an LP that would have sounded better than that mess. To me, it ruined the song. I'll have to listen from the greatest hits I suppose.

Jimi Hendrix Experience falls short, just a little bit
Lots of good songs here, even a couple classics, but there's lots of filler as well. The Experiences debut album didn't have filler, or as much. The good news, the production of Axis: Bold As Love is better than the debut, but that's about it. The album cover isn't as good as the debut either.
Great Album!!!
I love this album!! I just started getting into Jimi Hendrix last year and this was the first album I heard from him.Every track on here is outstanding, but my favorites are "Spanish Castle Magic", "Wait Until Tomorrow", "If 6 was 9" "Aint No Tellin","Up from the Skies",and "One Rainy Wish".Really the WHOLE album is good, definetly worth the money.I have Electric Ladyland as well, but I prefer Axis:Bold as Love over it.A lot of the lyrics I dont understand, but this doesnt take away from the musical experience that Jimi, Noel, and Mitch provide for the listener.

I was looking through the used section of a CD store one day, and every single CD in the used section was a terrible CD either un heard of, or some NOW CD or some crap like that, asi continued searching i saw a CD by Hendrix called AXis BOLD As love.Their was a sign that said all used cd's under $3 are 30 cents, Axis bold as love cost 30 cents.I knew something had to wrong.How could the jimi hendrix cd be cheaper than the now cd;s used ace base cds, Shi##Ty backstreet boys debut albums and sh#it like that.I was confused but i purchased it anyway b/c 30 cents is nothing.when i put the cd in the player i loved the album.Its an incredible album but it doesn't contian any hits like his previous album did.Its less heavy in my oppinion, but the songs are just great peices of work, and shows that hendrix is not just a great guitarist, but a great songwriter as well.

Unplugged: From "Friday Night" to Layla
The reviewer who noted that Clapton's songs are made fresher by being unplugged is right on! For me Clapton is one of founding fathers of electric guitar. His work in Cream is the subconscious. Here he is kinder and gentler, more subtle and, like a good wine, better than ever. I especially think this applies to the Johnson material (Malted Milk, Walkin' Blues). Let me note that the GODFATHER OF ALL UNPLUGGED events, ground zero for the whole phenomenon is also a guitar album, the best live one EVER recorded: FRIDAY NIGHT IN SAN FRANCISCO (Di Meola, McLaughlin, De Lucia). classic eric clapton
Many people have heard of Eric Clapton's music. Some people love him and some people don't. I believe that this CD show's his true skill in music (Eric Clapton Unplugged). Eric Clapton displays his true dominance of the modern blues genre. I believe that Clapton is the best modern day blues musician because of his master of tone.

First CD I ever owned, favorite album of all time!
No kidding, this is THE best U2 album and not only that, easily in the Top-10 greatest albums of ALL TIME.This album is flawless.I still break it out every now and then and can't believe how good it is.This album will always be special to me in so many ways.I listened to it daily for over a year during one of the greatest years of my life.

Wow. What an amazing album. It seems like not enough people pay attention to U2's 90's music. After Achtung Baby was Zooropa, which I really enjoyed and then there was Pop, which I thought was just "okay". Anyways, Achtung Baby is definitely U2's best album. Here are my ratings for each song:
"One" Techno Masterpiece!
'Achtung' has to rate as one of two of the best albums by U2.It ranks with 'Joshua Tree,' which has more variety, even if 'Achtung' gratifies the listener with more immediacy.U2 reinvents their own sound wheel with the help of Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, once again, but with "Flood" added to the helm.The lyrics cover the gamut of love realized and unrealized with the fluency and passion of their best work.

Good PF rocker on this one
AMLOR is a great PF album. I always enjoyed Floyd for the music rather than lyrics and so depart from the judgments of many of the Waters fans here. Floyd's progressive mix of R&B and dissonant guitar-driven sounds set them apart and it's on display here much more so than the followup Division Bell. This may be a Gilmour album in all but name, but that ain't necessarily a bad rap.

Weak effort that has not aged well
Been a big PF fan for years since and recently revisited AMLOR - having seen the tour I had great hopes & memories of this album. After repeated listenings all I can say is that I'm disappointed. This CD has been pumped up and overrated on Amazon by hardcore PF fans.This is just not that good of a CD. There are some good songs on this album like 'Learning to fly', but overall a weak effort. I found myself hitting the next button more then listing to the album straight through. There is too much use of Pink's '5th man' in terms of sounds effects, which have added so nicely to their classic works, but only date this album signifcantly. This album is only for hardcore fans.
Good, not great
I am a huge Pink Floyd fan. Though I like some tracks like learning to fly, the entire album sound feels a little tired and synthetic. Lyrically it feels a bit prissy and commercial at times (it's like a polished facsimile of earlier PF works). The 'contemporary feel' that others talk about is precisely what I don't like about this album.

Against the Wind
The CD I got is a "digitally remastered" version of the original. It seems to me that they took the opportunity to smooth out the rough edges in Seger's voice, like the used to do to Roger Daltry.
My favorite Seger CD. His zenith has you boppin.
