A compilation album the 9th in this out standing series.
Just when I thought that Gotta Have Gospel 3 was the Best. Here comes WOW Gospel 2006 a double CD with 32 tracks to rock or quench any musical thirst. This album is compiled to cater for every musical taste or style. There is a blend of up tempo and mellow vibes. From Contemporary to classic and from worship to R&P and the story just goes on and on.
Cream Of The Crop !!!
This WOW CD is Awesome!!!!! WOW did it again, they chose the most popular artists with the greatest hits of the year and compiled it in this 2 cd package. Fred Hammond's song/ "I Will Find A Way, CeCe Winans/ Purified, Dietriche Haddon/God didn't give up on me etc!!!! I can go on and on. You will not be disappointed when you listen to this CD. Buy it !!!!!

I am blown away
This cd is a must have for your collection. Words can not express how wonderful it is , you have to get it for yourself.
DISC 1 IS BETTER
Great collection of music.I prefer disc one the most, but I do like disc 2.

When African-American Singing moved African-Americans
After sampling this new Shanachie product "When Gospel Was Gospel", I can testify that this is African-American singing to the "nth" power. This style of "full-throated" singing is seldom heard anymore because African-Americans either prospered after the Civil Rights movement or fell to theseductive power of "Hip Hop" genre that captured the heart, mind and spirit as Classical Gospel once did.

Not Bad At All,
This is a pretty decent cd. The music is beautifully done and it is awesome. It might be a little slow, but it is relaxing. there is only one song i really liked on this cd and it is, Wich Of Couse, Amazing Grace.

Country at its best!
This Cd is awesome I've had it for quite some time. Shenandoah does one of my fav versions of Beulah Land. A blessing everytime I listen to it......STILL!

Slow, maybe,but Beautifully Slow
I honestly don't understand why anyone would want to hear "Amazing Grace" any other way but slow.Lari White sings it beautifully, with reverence.That's the way most of these tracks are.The females are the highlight.Lari White, Martina McBride, Susan Ashton, Allison Krause, and of course Emmylou. The production values are better than you can find on anycountry gospel album.I think Martina McBride's "How Great Thou Art" is being played on loudspeaker at the pearly gates for eternity.I'm not overly religious or emotional, but this album sooths my soul and brings a tear to my eye. ... Great Music
I bought this CD when planning my wedding just to get ideas for wedding music.I still listen to this CD after my wedding, because it has such great Christian songs commonly used in weddings.I loved the music was all sung by it's original artist.It's a must have CD of Christian Wedding/Love songs.

Great Wedding Music!
I recently purchased this CD which I happen to find while browsing in Amazon.Com. After listening to sample clips, I was convinced that this compilation of various artists was the best choice of all the other wedding music CD's that I have viewed. This cd offers a variety of music styles from comtemporary artists. Very romantic, perfect for your wedding! I highly recommend this cd for those who are just can't find the right music to play at their wedding. I highly recommend it!

Excellent Gospel Wedding CD
My husband had this CD and the previous one that came out in 2001 (entitled just "With This Ring") before we got married.When we were engaged we knew right where to look for our songs.We had "Finally I" sung in the wedding and "Come Take My Hand" was our first dance song at the reception.Since then, I've recommended both CDs to two friends who've gotten married or known someone who has in the last year and they all used one or more songs from it.I'm actually singing You're the One with my brother-in-law for a friend's wedding this weekend!As someone else said, these are just beautiful, God-centered songs that anyone will love - Gospel and non-Gospel fans alike.

All that I hoped for
I heard this song on the radio late one night and it brought tears to my eyes.I had to find it and importantly I wanted it sung at my vow renewal ceremony.I will soon be celebrating my 25-year anniversary and am planning the ceremony I've always dreamt about.After 25 years of marriage we've experienced the "good times" and the "bad times" that are purposely stated in the marriage vows.It is abundantly clear that my husband is the one for me--the Lord told me so the first day I met him, and he still is today!In addition to "You're the One", we're using 3 other songs from the CD in the wedding. The entire CD is inspirational, heartfelt, and absolutely beautiful.

Road Rage
All I can say is don't listen to these CD's while driving in heavy traffic.You don't want to be trapped in a car with THE SOPRANO.At some point someone should have said, "OK Doris, back away from the Mic and let someone else have a chance."Maybe she's married to the producer.And let's talk about the automated-percussion.I don't know about you, but I don't really think "I Love to Tell the Story" needs a lot of cymbals, but that's just me.I came to anticipate each and every cymbal crash, and I was not disappointed.Amazon should put this in the 2 for $5.99 bin.Makes this Lutheran girl long for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

This is a good compilation of general classic hymns.Handy to sing along with.

Excellent CD Set..
I enjoy listening to these CDs. The voices in the choir are excellent and, just like my church choir, they sing all of the songs. Your soul will thank you.One of my all-time favorites.Thomas A. Dorsey is a genius--one of the best American songwriters...ever.As a tunesmith, he is up there with Jagger, Richards, Dylan, Lennon, Waits, Newman, Foster and Ray Charles.What a record.

The Joy! The Joy!
I first read about this CD, amazingly enough, in the Wall Street Journal and had to smile at the thought of all those financial market folks rushing out to buy gospel music.Regardless of the source of the info, it was spot on.I'd sit in churches 24/7/365 if it consisted of nothing more than this glorious music.There's a variety of styles, tambourine dancing to burdened ballads, and in every one you'll find mercy, pain, revival, power and -- most of all -- joy in the songs and the evocative voices that sing them.To hear a young Sam Cooke, so many years gone, in the Soul Stirrers, it's just a gift.Most -- not Mavis fortunately -- of these singers are certainly dust now, but here they've got a deserved resurrection.Yes, I've laid on the superlatives, but this is one CD that deserves it.It is soul nourishment of the highest order and easily one of my favorites of the year thus far.
Non-liner notes an insult to the music
I'm going to be less forgiving about the non-liner notes. The music is close to impeccable but the explanation of having no liner notes because "the brain will write its own liner notes" is an absolute insult to the buyer/listener and, more significantly, to the artists and the music on this disc. To suggest that this music, as moving as it is, does not deserve any serious scholarship is indefensible. You may as well burn someone else's copy because there's absolutely no information to be gleaned from the packaging. ... Read more

Not Too Bad,
The Fisrt cd is alot better than this one, but this one is still okay. I only Liked one song on this disc and it is. Track 4. Will The Circle Be Unbroken/I'll Fly Away/ Jesus Loves Me. Don't get me wrong the music is beautiful, but i think the first one is alot better.

Good Old Country Gospel
I was very disappointed in CD.Way to hillbilly for me.

Sing-A-Long
I got this collection for my husband several years ago as a cassette and he listened to it so much he finally broke the tape! I was thrilled to find it on CD to replace it, and got one for my Dad too who loves to sing along with gospel music like the Gaithers, et al. It has all the well-known favorites. If you like "O Brother, Where Art Thou," you'll love this collection. Even our 17 year old son (who prefers rock music) likes to sing along with these songs. Can someone say, "Amen!"

Beyond the Jordan

Revelation, indeed.
The best historically-minded music compilations do not simply collect the best of an artist, label, or genre; they amass a backstory and glean a latent humanity in the process. Pressing On
If you buy this cd and ONLY listen to the Chicago Mass Choir absolutely tear into "Pressing On", you will have gotten more than your money's worth. Absolutely stunning version. I had previously bought another "Gospel Tribute To Bob Dylan" cd, and was not moved at all. I cannot say the same about this one. Highly recommended.

Wry new soul food for sure, variously rendered
from Dylan's house in Malibu where he can "see all the way to Ha/Wa/ee" and into the soul of man and god in the fallen forlorn new world order of reification, war machines, false prophets, corruption in principalities and powers that seem so unending but are falling apart even as I write and BD keeps writing/singing on(say, Rome toppled by the Pauline principles as registered in Gospel Music serving a different higher-lyric order than that of the big studio markets).This recording is (for me at least) an essential part of the Dylan canon, too, taking it into Baptist churches and the smoke-white hills and coal mines of west virginia.

Breath of Fresh Air (despite an alleged stale history)

I didn't let go
This cd is anointed. I listen to "I Almost Let Go" everyday as often as I can. I listen to it while working on the computer at work,at home while ironing, cooking dinner, cleaning the house.
Promoting Up-and-Coming Gospel Artist
One of the things I love about this and all the other WOW Gospel CDs is that it introduces us to new gospel artists that we may not of heard of before, and their music turns out to be great. Just because you don't know every song or artist on the CD doesn't mean you have to take away from it's great music and playlist. This is an awesome CD and I fully recommend it!

Wow they did it again!
This album was very inspiring to me as a Devil lover! My favourite song would be "satan, satan, satan" very emotional and so deep! The song "anthem of gays" was a bit pushed, saying gays are normal people was a bit harsh. They should be treated as beasts. The runner-up to my favorite song was "Let us worship him, (the devil)"
LOVE IT!!!
If you get this CD, you WILL be blessed; they have been a balm to me; There was a song on this CD that I was looking all over for, and yesterday, I was looking for a song ("Do His Will" by the Rance Allen Group), and come to find out, I HAD the very CD myself; oh, what a blessing; So, now I have really wore this CD out since I found out I had it; My favorites is "Counterfeit Religion" by Dottie Peoples, "Drug Me" by the Canton Spirituals, and of course "Do His Will". that whole CD is all that, it will be a balm and blessing to you.

Praise The Lord...WOW Gospel has returned!!
This compilation is the BEST of the WOW Gospel series in 3 years.Even Zomba thinks so, as the back CD cover says this is the most successful installment.No disrespect to WOW Gospel 2000-2002, but this compilation is just as good as 1998 & 1999 (which I consider the best). Maybe it's because of the quality of artists this past year or something else.The music is funkier, soulful, praiseworthy, and worth repeated rotation.Read more

Kid's Worship
A great music CD for kids."Here I Am to Worship for Kids" will give your kids a chance to learn the praise and worship songs they will hopefully be singing for a long time.

Excellent for Children and Adults
When I bought this CD I expected that it would help my kids to worship. What I didn't expect was that it would provide a deep worship experience for me as well. I have been introducing these songs in our Children's Church. They are age appropriate arrangements of many of the same modern worship songs our church loves. Another benefit was the reaction of my kids worship adult volunteers. With other music they had participated mainly to set a good example for the children. With these songs the grown-ups have a meaningful worship experience.
