5-0 out of 5 stars Another anointed worship experience
The more I listen to this album, the more I enjoy the worship experience of it.My husband was not at all familiar with contemporary Christian music when he met me, but he is now listening to this album nonstop whenever he drives the car that currently houses it.Listening to these songs is a great way to start and end any commute and helps to put us in the right heart- and mindset on our way to church, too!
5-0 out of 5 stars 10 STARS - this is what Worship was created to be
OK - instead of just saying this is great - i will tell you in detail why Chris Tomlin is potentially the best worship leader and collaborator of our time...

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't stop listening to it!
From the first chords of this CD I knew this was going to be different.By Track three I had determined that this was the CD I had hoped would follow up their first.Don't get me wrong, I love JOC but this album goes back to the relestless faith of "Flood".The plaintive cries for God's help and grace resonate within this piece. No, every lyric is not pop and uplifting but then neither is every Psalm. This is a journey through hurt and pain to a beautiful afterlife. This is the Christian journey.
3-0 out of 5 stars Different, not great, but worthy enough
Jars' latest album, as all their other albums, pales in comparison to their self titled album.Work is a sweet song, really catchy and fun, with great lines like "I have no fear of drowning; it's the breathing that's taking all this work."The rest of the album just doesn't cut it.They lack really powerful substance in their lyrics.Good Monsters, sounds a little bit like something from The Click Five and Mirrors and Smoke sounds like Johnny Cash.Oh My God is a good song. This isn't a great offering by Jars, but good enough. The are no songs on this album as good as the Valley Song or Jealous Kind.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Epic Christian Rock Album
I love the first Jars of Clay cd, but I would have to say that this one is the best! The crunchy rocker "Work" sets the tone. I love the line "I have no fear of drowning, it is the breathing that's taking all this work." How true!

I've always enjoyed Jeff Majors and this album is no exception, but while reading some of the customer recommendations posted on this site I discovered a group by the name of MEHDl (pronounced medie). After an online search I found their site (S00THINGMUSIC,C0M) and listened to the samples...

5-0 out of 5 stars His Favor is Just What I Needed...and I'm so GLAD.....
There are no words to describe how I feel about Fred Hammond's 'Free to Worship.'And, I am not sure five stars will do this brilliant collection of the 'living word' any justice. Each song will speak to a different part of your soul, allowing you to be in the spirit as you draw nigh to GOD.I don't share the same reservations or issues concerning RFC and Fred's direction and approach to reaching youth with the gospel, everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion. However, it is of paramount importance that we understand praise and worship is a perfect act within itself.EVERY CD that Fred has released has served its
5-0 out of 5 stars Ushering in the Spirit of God
Fred Hammond's ministry has always been able to inspire me but "Free To Worship" happens to be released at a time in my life that warrants much needed encouragement."More of You"focuses on a person's earnest desire to decrease while Christ increases in their life (especially when facing a crossroad). All believers should have such a pure communication with God.It was a pleasure to hear fred's solo ("There Is No Place").Such vocals bring back memories of vintage tunes like "I'm Not Afraid" from his first solo project.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fred Hammond Is Just Awesome!!!!
When I purchased Fred Hammond's "Free To Worship" album, I wasn't surprised that it would be another fantastic and awe-inspiring album!!! You have got to buy it!!!I love the song "More Of You", Fred reaches down in his soul and brings out this beautiful love song to God,He is a brilliant psalmist. I also love the revised "This Is The Day", It has a light sound of the carribean and old school gospel....If you haven't heard it yet,I guarantee you will love it!!! No Greater love is another masterpiece on this album in which Fred Hammond shows us how Great our God is and how much he loves us. Simply put is another song close to my heart,Some churches and people get caught up in all the clever cliches and glamour and glitz but "Simply Put" reminds us It's about Jesus and his mission to love and save us!Fred truly has the Spirit Of David and that is why his music will always be a classic and is the reason why God's signature is written all over it.

5-0 out of 5 stars For An Uplifting Alternative To What Most People Listen To...
I never listened to any Christian rock before this CD, except for the commercials I would occasionally see (and laugh at) as I was no doubt flipping through to watch some bad programming that made me a worse person...so being able to finally listen to Christian "Rock" music and REALLY L-I-S-T-E-N to what was being said was...amazing.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good. But Not As Good As WOW Hits 2006!!!
This CD is just okay. Personally for me, they should've left out Hawk Nelson and Sanctus Real. People think that WOW Hits should have more rock, but I personally think "Why?" I mean you already have X2007 coming out soon, which is the year's TOP ROCK HITS! And I mean Hawk Nelson and SR have never even been on WOW Hits before. I definitely would replace those with ZOEgirl's "One Day" and Bethany Dillon's "Dreamer". Those songs are great! But they should have some rock, like Plumb is amazing! And RelientK, Krystal Meyers and BarlowGirl are very good! But why HNelson and SReal? Hmmmm.....

Editorial Review

Much like their brethren Mercy Me, Casting Crowns was thrust into the limelight from a worship band beginning. With steady chops honed from hundreds of shows/services a year and a simple, straight-ahead rock style, the Florida-based band found themselves on top of the charts thanks to the success of massive singles "Who Am I?" and "The Voice of Truth" from its self-titled debut (2003). Lifesong is a sensible sophomore follow-up that shows the band expanding its musical creativity while lyrically remaining true to the cause. There’s a common thread of humility throughout as front man Mark Hall sings of the disenfranchised ("Does Anybody Hear Her"), the heartbroken ("Praise You in This Storm"), and the remorseful ("Prodigal"). Hall even calls outside for songwriting help from the brilliant Nichole Nordeman in "Stained Glass Masquerade," a cautionary warning about church hypocrisy in the face of keeping it real. The radio-friendly, U2- ish "Lifesong" proves a savvy book-end to the penitent closer "And Now My Lifesong Sings." Both evoke strong messages that worship is all about how one lives a life and not what kind of songs they may sing.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent CD - One of the best Christian recordings in years!
Each song on this CD has lots of encouraging spiritual content. The musical arrangements are absolutely top notch. The lead singer has a voice that touches the heart. This is really excellent Christian music that is so hard to find aside from the Hillsong productions which are excellent too.
5-0 out of 5 stars Loved it!
I bought this CD for the song 'Praise You in This Storm' which meant a lot to me when I first heard it.This CD is loaded. Its lyrics have bold and direct messages that are challenging and uplifting for those in or interested in becoming part of the Christian community.

5-0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable!Skillet learned to deliver!
Honestly I was never a hardcore fan of Skillet back in the days of their pseudo-industrial sound.I liked it and all and I bought the albums, but the songs were...well, not that well written musically.I wanted to love them, but just couldn't.Collide started to get me back into them, but THIS album really floored me.I haven't heard this many amazing tunes on one album in a long time...by ANYONE.And I haven't had an album that I don't skip songs on for even longer.I'll admit that they have gone a little bit toward the "formula" radio-star style sound, but these songs have emotion, great lyrics, great messages, excellent production, perfect musicianship, and fantastic musicallity."Rebirthing" has a downright surprising chord progression.I thought it would be just the basic hard rock form, but the changes set it far apart."The Last Night" is amazingly musically formed and though a bit too emo for my tastes is still irresistable and on my favorites list.Other songs range from hard rock to a neo-pop/punk/emo sound. It IS very emotional, but not to the rediculous level that you get with real emo bands.... thank God.
5-0 out of 5 stars Skillet's best yet...?
Comatose, the latest album from Skillet, is described by the band as a different sound than previous works from this foursome--and Comatose doesn't disappoint.
5-0 out of 5 stars The bar has been raised!!
After sampling this new cd I want out and purchased a copy.I was taken back by the depth and the quality of this new release. How many cd's do you have that you can press play and not skip a track? I have heard there music before and could take or leave them. There is a substantial change in there music from the previous releases. So far the best album, I've heard this year!! No longer are Christian musicians relegated to the back seat, or a sub genere, the quality of recent christian artists (last 5 to 10 years) is unmatched. While secular music stumbles along with there falling sales, lack of talent and originality, Christian music has exploded. The quality of bands like Demon Hunter,Disciple,Red and many other Christian bands should be given heavy rotation on radio but are not. The talent coming from these artists is awesome. Wow have we come along way! 15-20 years ago we never had such a selection of music and artists.......enough lamenting......My prediction album of the year.....we will see! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Greatest Third Day CD yet!!! Period.
Third Day really did a good job with their new CD "Wherever You Are." This album truly brings worship to a new level. With smash hits like "Carry My Cross" and "Wherever You Are" Third Day truly deserves 5 stars. Anybody looking for a great worship CD should buy this one.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good, but not great
I've been a Third Day fan ever since seeing them on the Time tour back in 2000.Wherever You Are is good sonically, but it's not on par with Time or Conspiracy #5.Mark Lee, Tai Anderson, and Brad Avery are as tight as they ever have been, and it's nice to hear them crank it up to 11 occasionally on this cd.
5-0 out of 5 stars Solid Effort from a Solid Band
After critically acclaimed releases "Wire" and "Live Wire" (which I personally thought were lyrically weak), Third Day returns to what makes them great with "Wherever You Are." Their first release was "Cry Out to Jesus," which they made available for free to all fans on their website. While the song was not written with Hurricane Katrina in mind, it was released as a tribute and an outreach to all who had suffered its devastation. Lyrically this song showed me that Third Day was back doing what they did best - boldly proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ!

5-0 out of 5 stars BETTER WITH THE DVD
Great CD but if you do not have the DVD then you are missing all the "extras". This CD and DVD is a must have for any Amy Grant fan. The ending of the concert If These Ways Can Speak and what she says before going into song is a tear jerker and really makes you think.

Amy Grant takes the same stage where she gave her first performance 28 years ago (1978!) and gives a wonderfully intimate show on a set dressed like a living room.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Live CD
This live CD is very well done. The audio is great, you'll think you are at the concert. Just enough chit-chat between songs....to make it interesting. The audio is fantastic. 3-0 out of 5 stars A little disappointing
I have to admit that I feel a bit let down by "Broken & Beautiful", which is sad since I had been looking forward to this CD for a couple months. I don't think the quality of it is too far below Mark's previous works, but his signature pop-piano is missing and that's one of my favorite aspects of his music. The variety of songs is great, as usual, as is Mark's incredibly distinctive voice, but it seems a bit too much like the majority of contemporary christian music being offered up. The distinctive sound I've come to love gets a bit lost in the guitar. Perhaps I should have seen it coming when I saw him with Phillips, Craig & Dean in August and he performed my favorite song of his, "You Are A Child of Mine" not from behind the keyboard but with an acoustic guitar in hand. I also found the title of the song "Until I See You Again" odd and a bit misleading as it also happens to be the name of the song Mark wrote and recorded with Jim Brickman for Jim's Greatest Hits record.
5-0 out of 5 stars As Always, Brilliant
I absolutely love this CD, as I do all of his others. I bought it the day it came into stores and haven't taken it out of my CD players yet! Every song on it has a message that speaks volumes. I love everything about the music from the lyrics to the composition and orchestration.
5-0 out of 5 stars A change in tone, but a good one!!!!
I'm a huge fan of Mark's music; after I came back into the church, his lyrics were an wonderful inspiration as I changed my life.

5-0 out of 5 stars Genuine Inspiration
We bought this CD, along with some others, for a driving trip through Colorado. This was by far our favorite. You need to listen carefully; the melodies are great, but more than that, each song has a clear message about life, choices, and how we treat one another on this journey. And, the CD displays each artist at their very best -- heartfelt and sincere.OUR top 3 song? Three Wooden Crosses, I Can Only Imagine, and The Little Girl; but these are followed closely by the other 14.A GREAT CD.We're getting more of these to share with family and friends.

5-0 out of 5 stars This disk has heart
Chris Tomlin is an amazing worship leader and this is without a doubt a solid worship album all the way through. We use the song "How Great is Our God" in the youth band at our church and the beauty of it hits the whole congregation every time. Most worship albums you can't tell if they're really worshipping God or marketing themselves, but not on Chris Tomlin's "Arriving". You can hear in his voice and in his song just where he's coming from. ... Read more

While this understandably is not as good as their earlier works, this album is still wonderful. My personal favorite is track 7, writtin by Julie Miller and originally performed by her as a duet with Emmylous Harris.

If you are looking for some inspiration in your life, whether it be for your personal troubles or from seeing the way the world is going, look no further than Kirk Franklin's most recent CD "Hero."I had gotten away from gospel music since I was a little kid, so I really start to look back into it recently and find a couple of CDs that could get my mind right.A CD that had something true to say other than the regular mainstream genres that we hear that more than not have nothing to say at all.I had heard some of Hero before I had bought it, but I did not know it was this special until hearing by myself on my own.Totally blown away and had my spirit aroused and lifted up as if I was in church on a Sunday listening to a live choir!A couple of the songs are tied to songs that came out in a favorite time musical time period of mine which is old school 70s R&B.He also mixes in a little hip hop feel to connect with today's generation as he has always tried to do, which is great on his part.Anyway you can reach today's kids and young people like myself and pull them up is worth it if you are not compromising yourself and stand firm in what you believe.Looking For You was the track you would hear on BET when they played videos and I loved it from the start as it sampled from Patrice Rushen's Looking For You!Hero, Let It Go and Imagine Me are excellent songs.Could've Been is one of those tracks that will have you ready to shout, clap, sing along and praise the Man!Better follows that it keeps the CD moving hard.Afterwhile w/ Yolanda Adams and Brokenhearted w/ Marvin Winans are great combos and collabos. The CD really takes flight to me with tracks 13 and 14.Keep Your Head samples from an old Earth, Wind and Fire track and they really pulled off something genuine and special with this one!And Why with Stevie Wonder is a blessing as they discuss problems with the world in not building people as we build churches and pastors tried to be seen and not heard in giving the Word, building bombs, sleeping around and asking the question: Lord, when is our change for the world gonna come? And the harmonica play at the end tops it off!First Love and The Appeal are nice listens as well and the CD has a little comedy as Kirk has a little kid (don't know if it's his nephew or a boy he knows) beatbox on an interlude at the end.All in all, the CD is great but it all ties into the message that the only way this world will get better is if we are all touched by Jesus if that's the religion you believe in, as individuals and as a unit.A must have CD if you are desperately searching for some greatness music wise and overall! ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Not Impressed
First off I think Bart Millard is one of the best singers I have ever heard.I also really liked Mercy Me's first three albums. However, Coming Up to Breathe doesn't even compare to Spoken For, Almost There, and Undone. After listening to this album all the way through the first thought that popped into my head was "generic".What I mean by that is the lyrics.I feel that today in Christian music the lyrics are becoming quite stale.I think Mercy Me has caught I touch of this.I do think however, that they are fully capable of rebounding from this album.
4-0 out of 5 stars Little Ditty at the end
I was really take back by the "dead" space at the end. I thought it was a defect in my CD and the little ditty at the end I thought was a miss tape. I was glad I did not take it back to the store as defective. MercyMe did not list the song on there jacket. It would have been real helpful if the ending had been published in the booklet provided.

5-0 out of 5 stars Smooth but not love Mushy
This CD is GREAT...a guy can listen to it to relax or listen to the cd as a couple....I think every couple should have this cd...it's full of smooth love dance songs but not mushy songs like Chicago. I just don't understand how a guy who made such great love songs could have had women problems.

4-0 out of 5 stars Unforgetable one
The Right Stuff Al Green's Greatest Hits, adding five of the highlights from greatest hits as bonus tracks.Upon its original release in 1975, Al Green's Greatest Hits pretty much summed up everything about Green, containing his ten biggest hits up to that point.Definitely one of the greatest soul artists, that's Al Green. This greatest hits is the better the best of the man!

5-0 out of 5 stars An unplanned and wonderful trip down memory lane!
I purchased this CD after hearing "I'm So Tired of Being Alone" in the movie The Family Stone. Hearing that song again evoked so many deep memories from my past that I had to have the piece in my collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't Get Any Better
This album is SUBURB.I thrroughly enjoyed his previous offerings, but this album is clearly his best work to dateIt is both inspiring and insightful.I tend to enjoy his slow songs.I don;t think he needs grand arrangements or tons of backing vocalist. His upbeat songs are inspiring and uplifting.this album is a contemporary work of art.he manages to be relevant and contemporary while staying true to his traditional roots and the word of God.I can honestly say that I like ever song.I have already purchased two additional copies as gifts.Totally uplifting and inspiring.

Smokie is awesomely anointed!I have greatly anticipated this CD after I heard the single "UM Good".Fulfilling my expecetations, it is accompanied by equally beautiful songs. This album stands right up there with the other Smokie Norful Albums.
5-0 out of 5 stars Smokie Norful is BACK!
Smokie Norful is BACK with his 3rd full length CD and the return is PHENOMENAL. Smokie continues to surprise me with his masterfully woven songwritting and production--someway, SOMEHOW, he continues to put out albums that simply get BETTER! Very few artists are able to do this. Stand out tracks are "Celebrate", "Um Good", "In Time" & "Where Would I Be"<---I think I listened to this song a good 5 times in a row...it's incredible. And his remake of "Run To You" outdoes the Whitney Houston version!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A new paradigm - Robert Randolph
This album is all over the place, but it showcases the phenominal talent of Robert Randolph. It's worth every dime. Randolph has created a new fusion of gospel, R&B, rock and more. There are hints of Santana, Allman Brothers, Hendrix and others. It's going to be interesting to see where he goes from here. More fusion or roots? Who knows... all I know is I'll buy his next effort sound unheard.

This band was the opening act at a Black Crows concert. When they walked out on the stage I didn't know what to expect. They rocked the house with their high energy music. If you are looking for mellow stuff don't bother with this CD.I ordered this CD because I wanted more and the CD delivered! These guys rock! They cover some Hendrix tunes and tear it up!I am an absolute fan.

5-0 out of 5 stars A genuine, bonafide new talent!!!!!!!!
A genuinely talented new musician redefining his instrument, who has produced a thoroughly enjoyable recording in "Unclassified".Funky, footstomping fun!!! There's a bit of everything for everybody here.It has that good time feeling that rock has lost over the years.
