Chapman's 1st really good disc
This album placed 5 hits on Christian radio (#3 title track,#3 "Busy Man",#11 "What Kind of Joy", #15 "You Know Better" and "No Better Place", which stayed at #1 for 2 weeks) and there's good reason why: this is a very solid album with few missteps. Chapman finds some passion in putting himself in the feet of the "twelve unlikely men" who helped found Christianity and themes the album around the idea of what it means specifically to follow Christ's call.
a wolf in sheep's clothing
With many more recordings under his belt since this release, Steven Curtis Chapman has had a chance to expand his horizons.Over the years he has gained confidence and more of an edge to his music.This is an excellent album, but very subdued in comparison to his later releases.

I just loved it..
For the serious Cash fan, yes. I had been looking for this for awhile. I was impressed with the book, photos and words. Very nice touch with the painting of JR. In fact I am having it framed.

The Possum Can Sing Well With Anyone!
George Jones vocal versatility and extensive range makes him an ideal duet partner for just about anyone as My Very Special Guests - a reissue of Jones' 1979 ten-song duets album of the same name bolstered mightily by 27 additional tracks from other sources - makes quite clear. The tracks from the original album, which run from Jones' soulful pairing with Waylon Jennings on "Night Life" to the traditional stroll "Stranger In The House" alongside the smoothly understated Elvis Costello, leads off this two-disc set, followed by the bonus tracks (including eight from 1991's Friends in High Places). This is wonderful music. I have sent this CD as a gift to a number of friends. I wish there were more like this!

This is true gospel music straight from the heart's of men.
I found this sample of songs truly heart warming.There are lots of gospel music artists today who sing just the songs. The Isaacs - Wonderful musicians and people
I own every Isaacs CD on the market. And this newest one is way up there on my list. Beckys version of "I Surrender All" she sings it with such feeling. I've met this wonderful group and my band had the opportunity to open for them. Its just so awesome to know they are for real. I strongly recommend this, esp if you love older gospel tunes. Who was it, everybody?
This was Johnny Cash's second Columbia album.He specifically went to Columbia Records because they promised that he would be allowed to record an occasional gospel album, which Sun Records wouldn't allow him to do.The album contains Johnny's originals and his take on his favorite gospel songs.It is a very good example of "country gospel".There is one bonus track, which is the mono EP version of "It Was Jesus".It is the same recording as the album version of "It Was Jesus", but the chorus that sings backup is missing.

Laid Back, Old Style Arrangements Sound Better Re-Mastered Here!
When I first heard this CD, I was a little disappointed. I was expecting Gospel songs as catchy and influential as Johnny's biggest non-religious hits. But this album is best listened to in a different way. I think it is great for lazy Sunday afternoons at home.

This Canadian woman has her virtues. She's one of the more rhythmic singers in Nashville when she wants to be, she puts across Rodney Crowell's "The Answer Is Yes" convincingly, and the little "ooooooh" that opens "When I Found You" is awfully soulful. Ultimately, though, that nonverbal sigh of contentment is more soulful than the rest of this CD combined. Though there's the occasional nice touch like the mandolin on "Safe in the Arms of Love," most of the time she's safe in the arms of her producers, who constantly weigh her down with the most clichéd, contempo-Nashville schlock, both in songs ("He Would Be Sixteen," "Your Love") and sounds (which consistently take the wind out of would-be anthems like "Nobody's Girl" and "New Kind of Love"). Still, for 1990s mainstream country, you could certainly do worse. Read more

One of Canada's best imports
It must seem odd to most American country music listeners to hear that Michelle Wright has released a Greatest Hits cd.Her country radio success in the states consists of one top ten hit:the defiant anthem "Take It Like A Man."In her native Canada, however, Wright has been one of country's biggest stars with a steady stream of hit records. I cannot understand why Michelle Wright is not at the top of country music here in the States.Just went to her concert: fabulous stage presence, her absolutely wonderful voice, plus a terrific band.This album has all myfavorites, especially "Take it Like a Man".Her voice pulls meout of my usual jazz and blues into the country.

In the world of Southern Rock, this album tops the charts.Charlie Daniels does a great job blending blues, country, rock, and the wonders of the south on this album.The re-release of "Trudy" and "Georgia" are by far perfected compared to their original release on the album "Charlie Daniels".For those just getting into The Charlie Daniels Band, this album is a great place to start.A definite must for fans of Southern Rock and Country Rock.
