3-0 out of 5 stars Some Good Songs
This CD is like most of the solo efforts of the DC Talk members. It is good, but not anything outstanding. Michael Tait along with Kevin Max and Toby Mac had an amazing thing going with DC Talk.It was a rarely equalled group that was head and shoulders above virtually any other group out there past or present. In contrast, as solo artists, the three are pretty good.
5-0 out of 5 stars TAIT Rocks!
I have had this album for 6 months +, and I'm still enjoying it, which is a tell-tell sign for me.This albumrocks ("Lose This Life", "Numb", and "Wait", and "God Can You Hear Me", are some of my personnal faves). It also contains several soulful ballads that are very nice.If you haven't seen these guys live, you are missing out on half the fun.Chad Chapin is fabulous on the drums, and must be experienced live to completely appreciate his talents.Michael's voice is so diverse that he pulls off the ballads just as wonderfully as the rockin' songs.Get this cd, you won't regret it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
Tait's sophmore effort gives you more of the solid, inspiring rock you'd expect from this extremely talented group. Michael is as genuine in person as he is on disc and this cd hits all the emotions in all the right places. Stand out songs are "Lose This Life", "Numb", "God Can You Hear Me", and "Holding Out For Grace". Chad Chapin's drumming is top notch! Can't wait for the next cd! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Move heaven and earth to add this to your collection!
Twenty-five years ago in my twenties I first heard a powerful and beautiful gospel song called "Take me back" by Andrae Crouch & the Disciples. Some people remember what they were doing when Kennedy was shot. For me it was hearing that song.I was rooted to the spot by the sheer vibrance, overall vocal power and high emotion and faith conveyed in this song.I have loved it unceasingly ever since and will never ever stop loving it. Play this song loudly and play it first!. Then follow with others like Jesus is the Answer; It won't be long; Tell them; Soon and very soon;I don't know why - then STOP and ask yourself why on earth you wouldn't want to forever keep these excellent songs?? This entire album is simply superb. If you ever mistakenly believed that "only the Devil has the best music" - THINK AGAIN!.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Versatility of Brother Crouch
This CD gives the listener a potpourri of Chrisitian 'goose bumps'.The quiet love and promises of Jesus... the Proclamation of 'spreading the gospel'... to my favorites: "I'll Be Thinking Of You","Through It All" and "My Tribute"... (oh, and Andrae's piano work on "Soon and Very Soon"...is OUTSTANDING). This and Donnie McClurkin's "Donnie McClurkin" CD's are the BEST two gospel works I own.The two of them are gifts I give to people who Love the Lord.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gifted from above
I think Andre's God-Given talent is absolutely unmatched. It is a shame that we don't hear as much as we would like from this artist. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars AA Comes of Age!
"Bloom" is a quantum leap forward for AA.After two spotty albums the band had built a following; but this thrust them forward into the spotlight, and deservedly so."Never Gonna Be As Big As Jesus" and "Walk On Water" are among my favorite Christian rock songs, and several other quality songs show the growth and maturity of the band - notably "Good People", "I'm Not The King" and "Man Of God".The biggest shortcoming of AA is when they try innovative covers of classic rock songs, and their cover of Edgar Winter's "Free Ride" is a confusing loopy ride; but the innovation is what makes AA who they are, and I wouldn't change them for anything.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Disc
I am a huge rock music fan.I picked up this disc when it first came out in '96.I was drawn in because the band re-made the classic "Free Ride" by Edgar Winter.I thought that 70's influenced Christian music might be worth a try.Unfortunately, they did a terrible job of it; not only that, but the rest of the CD isn't much better. The production is absolutely painful to listen to and some of the lyrics are embarrassingly shallow.I know that the large majority of reviews for this CD are positive, but I really think that this is an awful CD.I don't want to come across as being against Christian music, I am just against bad music in general. If you are a fan of rock music, and you are looking for something from the mid-90's by Christian artists, you might want to try Third Day's self-titled debut, DC Talk's "Jesus Freak" or Rebecca St. James' "God."

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best Christian Rock albums ever
I saw Audio Adrenaline performed live while I was in college."Bloom" is probably one of the most essential albums in Christian Rock. The best track on this CD is an Edgar Winter cover called "Free Ride."Perhaps the weakest track is "Jazz Odyssey."Highly recommended. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of Christian Rock's All-Time Best
For those of you that read my other reviews, you'll find that 5 stars is a rare occurence for me.I do that because it is only once in a while that an album is simply a cut above all others being produced."Underdog" is just that kind of album.Audio Adrenaline is a band that has always worked a variety of musical styles, with a consistent message of faith in Jesus Christ. But on this album, AA hits a pinnacle of performance in all of their divergent styles.Want classic rock? Here comes the title track. Catchy pop? You'll never get "Get Down" out of your head.Rockabilly?"DC-10" (a remake of their own song from their first album) is a tight, fun 50's romp.A call to mission? "Hands And Feet" is as compelling a call as you'll hear.Classic hymns? How about "It Is Well With My Soul"?And one of the most performed AA songs of all, the hilarious but wonderfully relevant "The Houseplant Song" gives people the ability to question how they're putting their faith into action while smiling the whole time.Quite simply, this is very close to being Christian rock's masterpiece, in the same category as DC Talk's "Jesus Freak", Jars of Clay's eponymous debut or Petra's "More Power To Ya".If you could only buy 5 Christian pop albums in your entire life, this really should be one of them.

3-0 out of 5 stars a little too much the same.
This c.d is fairly good, but not great.I do like some of the songs, though.I like mighty good leader, underdog, get down and hands and feet. The rest of the songs are all pop or very soft rock.Iam still a big fan of aa's work!Don't get this c.d unless you are a die-hard fan.I would get don't censor me,bloom, zombie, hit parade or worldwide.thank you for reading this!

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!
If there is a better christian alternative rock album out there, I have yet to find it.The songs on this record are so well written and diverse. The songs not only have great melodies, but their words are powerful, convicting and very moving. This is some truely God-inspired music for a new, younger crowd. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Superior Smitty
Smitty (was he even known by that nickname back when this was released?) has never quite equaled this great album.Reverent and uniquely tuneful, i2eye showcases an artist at the top of his game.Essential to your collection.

4-0 out of 5 stars One of his greatest
This album helped mold me into the person I am today. The first song of his I ever heard was "The Throne" in 1996. I immediately begged my mom to buy the album. Let's just say I more or less wore out this tape. Secret Ambition is definately my favorite song, but the whole ablbum is great. 10 years later, I have seen him 5 times in concert and have purchased everything he has put into print.

4-0 out of 5 stars Music Heaven.
No matter what your personal religious standing is, this album should appeal to you. If you're into 80's pop, or just into great songwriting, look no further than this album. "Hand of Providence" is a definite keeper. "Secret Ambition" is an 80's arena rocker. My personal favorite is "The Other Side," which sounds kind of like "Boys of Summer," but not as stupid. Christian or not, i2(eye) is pure music Heaven. I also highly recommend "Go West Young Man" which i found at K-Mart for like $1.99. ... Read more

Sure, there are more inventive or intense contemporary Christian acts out there. But as acts aspiring to boy-band fame in the CCM market go, Plus One are the best. Their harmonies are really solid and intricately woven together, their convictions undoubtedly heartfelt, their arrangements uplifting. When I first heard that there was going to be not one, but two Christian boy-bands (the other being True-Vibe), I have to confess that I was not crazy about the idea. My fear was that they would be a "boy band" first and a Christian group second.5-0 out of 5 stars one word...AWESOME!

5-0 out of 5 stars More greatness from my favorite band
Let me start off by saying that Zao is my absolute favorite band, hands down.Through many years and many line-up changes, Zao has managed to put out the best material available in the Christian metal scene. As another reviewer said on here (and I wholeheartedly agree), just because Dan is screaming doesn't mean the music isn't Christian.Zao is just worshipping God in their own way just like we all have the right to do.Anyway, on to the album. This album is my favorite of all the great Zao albums.Dan is such a great vocalist and the music compliments the vocals so well that it is hard to even find the slightest flaw in this album (which I see none). The vocals are the most scathing vocals you will ever find.Ember is my favorite song, but To Think of You is to Treasure an Absent Memory and Ravage Ritual are good as well (but they're all good).Go buy it and support this amazing band!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the all time greatest hardcore/metalcore CDs.
To start off I'll say that I have every ZAO CD.That isn't to say that I think all of their stuff is the greatest. And it isn't just because I'm a Christian.I like secular hardcore/metalcore acts just as much as I like Christian ones. When I say this may be one of the best albums in this genre, it's because it is lyrically and musically a masterpiece.
5-0 out of 5 stars ZAO's BEST RELEASE TO DATE!!
I've been a fan of ZAO for a few years now, and im my option this is there best cd so far. So if you like Zao this is a good place to start. ... Read more

Rising from one of the largest college services in the nation, at The Flood in San Diego, comes Something Like Silas - a band that does worship music in a different way. The Flood and Something Like Silas are symbiotic - they were both born at the same time and are inexorably linked; all five members of Silas are a deeply involved in The Flood and play there at least two thirds of the weekends of the year. Services at The Flood are what is known as "emerging worship" - a post-modern style that emphasizes interaction and artistic expression in the midst of the worship and teaching. "We want to change the way people look at worship bands," says Eric Owyoung, the band's lead singer.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty darn good
As a Relient K fan, I have to say that this is not the best of thier albums, but definitely not the worst I've ever heard.I like the bonus Christmas Disc. They should have released it separately.Good catchy pop-punk cd.

2-0 out of 5 stars way too pop for my taste
a few of my friends have been trying to get me into relient k- but i was not really interested and a little skeevy on the idea of christian rock (i didnt want someone preaching to me over my stereo) so i never bothered. but alas i saw this album on the sale rack and bought it. but i can't get into it. it is so pop and whiny in places and very middle school and yes, for the record i have gotten into christian rock-(and no, rk doesnt preach) and most of the christian rock i've found is good. but does relient k have any better albums?-less pop would be a plus- b/c this just pass for me as being any type of rock.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hoops i did it again
i fell in love with another band. i actually reviewed the other CD thats isnt enhanced. if you can find my review there you know how i feel about this band.

5-0 out of 5 stars Deeply Spiritual, Deeply Moving
Michelle Tumes' music clearly comes from a deeply spiritual place. I find her music calming. It taps into the 'peace that passes human understanding.' It instantly connects me the Source of All That Is. While Christian in its roots, it is spiritual in the deepest and most universal and positive sense. I particularly like Chant (very centering), Christe Eleison (the heart of Christ's message) and I Wish for Peace (the essence of God's pure Spirit and my deep longing for the world). The beauty and radiance of Spirit shines through Michelle Tumes on this CD. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to be at one with God through Christ.

5-0 out of 5 stars With the Angels...with Michelle Tumes
What an amazing album. There are only a few albums that truly take my breath away and that truly make me emotional.Michelle Tumes' "Center of My Universe" is one of those rarities.
5-0 out of 5 stars Better than her later albums
Often related to Enya's sound, Michelle Tumes really shows her own style and sound in this album. Christe Eleison is definately my favorite. I have her other album "Dream" as well, but those songs seem to have to fallen in the "pop music" pit of overdone songs and the lyrics suffer for it. Center of My Universe is one of my favorite albums, and I was disappointed to see her sound get taken over by electronic noises and silly pop rhythms in her other CDs. This one, as well as "Listen", has a purer, more celtic sound to it. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A move to a harder style
AA moves forward again with this CD, rocking harder than they had on previous disks. On many of the songs on "Some Kind Of Zombie", the band moves to a more modern rock sound, whereas its predecessor, "Bloom", tended to embrace more of a classic rock sound."Chevette" and "Lighthouse" are excellent modern rock sounds, and "Blitz" imports the O.C. Supertones to give the song an injection of party appeal. The band also still has great pop sensibilities with the simple but catchy "People Like Me" and the intellectual "Original Species".And the title track is as hard as AA has ever rocked, with a catchy riff and chanting chorus placed against Mark Stuart's strong lead vocal. This album is also a preview of the budding diversity of styles that AA would showcase on its next release, "Underdog".It's probably somewhere between a 3 and 4 star performance, but considering this album represents the bridge between two sensational albums, I have to believe that the band needed to make this album exactly as they did and for that reason, the album gets four joyous stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Non-depressing music for people who like contemporary Xtian.
The songs show an underlying energy supporting the music. The lyrics aren't depressing, they aren't "You are not good enough", "You're a sinner and you should suffer into my graces..."'

5-0 out of 5 stars A terrific introduction to contemporary worship!
I'm 32 years old, and I have four kids. This 2-CD set has been a blessing for all of us.We attend a Vineyard church, and a lot of the music is familiar to us because of that. But if you're new to worship music, this is a great selection.

I am an avid Christian music collector and bought this collection when it first came out.Yes, it does have a fair number of re-releases but it also does include otherwise unavailable live versions of "Beautiful One" by Tim Hughes and "Holy is the Lord" by Chris Tomlin which subsequently appeared on their next studio releases in the Fall of 2004.The reason I even read the reviews of a collection I own is that Here I Am To Worship Vol. 2 is scheduled to be released on 1/25/05 and I was looking up which tracks would be included.Overall, if you are looking to build a Christian worship music collection, this is a worthwhile choice along with the I Could Sing of Your Love Forever, WoW Worship and Passion collections. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Buy This CD and be blessed
I have come to really love this CD. I fits perfectly well with my practice and my patients have come to greatly enjoy it also. Margaret can bring to life the words of these songs because her love of the LORD and her passion to declare it come through so strongly. The songs are very much like love letters, living epistles, and really grow on you. 5-0 out of 5 stars Acoustic and Intimate
Responding to fan requests, Margaret Becker released this CD of acoustic recording. With about half songs she's already recorded and half new stuff, this CD feels like the most personal release she has made to date.5-0 out of 5 stars A Breath of Fresh Air

5-0 out of 5 stars I Will Not Forget This CD!
This CD always makes it back into my CD player rotation. It is one of my favorite worship CDs for these reasons: it is raw but passionate and it is extremely catchy.Being a praise band, I have loved doing covers of I Will Not Forget You, You Are So Good to Me, You Have Redeemed My Soul, Tender Mercy, and I Could Run Away. These are some of the best praise songs of all time! This CD was recorded in a circle (thus the band name) and it is the best circle of the circles by far.I love the unique folksy songs and you can just picture the musicians playing in a circle with their eyes closed praising to the one true God above.Ben Pasley and Don Chaffer have written brilliant songs that will always find a place in my CD player.Only criticism is that the female vocals sometimes sound a bit whiny. But for the most part, everything sounds great and I wish there were more out their singing with such passion!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome God Praise
100 Portraits and Waterdeep have an uncanny way of presenting music that sounds like something God would want to hear! They sing Psalms and praise in such a fresh and simple way.I just love this CD.The simplicity of the songs seems to enable a deeper connection to the Lord while I listen.

5-0 out of 5 stars true worship that's simple and beautiful
'enter the worship circle' is a worship experience you don't want to miss! the lyrics are simple so you can catch on quickly. the music is simple [guitar, i think] and let's you focus on God rather than the music. the worship is so fresh and real that it just draws you in and encourages you to worship God. no fancy sound effects or instruments. there's also a booklet that gives you some advice on how to write your own worship music. it's an amazing cd :) a definite must-have! ... 2-0 out of 5 stars gonna have to disagree here...
This album should get a 5/10. It's very mediocre. Despite being diverse, it really doesn't pull off any one style well. The rap lyrics are pretty bad. I really liked their latest record, so I decided to check this one out. You can tell that they were young when they cut this record and their songwrting skills were not truly honed yet. The early EP tracks at th end of the disc are horrible. As a whole, you may find something to like on here, but I recommend their other cds over this.

4-0 out of 5 stars A remixed, remastered, repackaged version of their first album
A year ago, Thousand Foot Krutch released Phenomenon, and the world found them. They were nominated for a Dove Award for "Best Recorded Album of the Year", received a Vibe award for "Hard Music Album of the Year", and had tons of radio airplay. The disc sold over 100,000 copies and was supported by extensive touring.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Reissue Worth The Money.
This is probobally TFK's best work and really shows how much they've changed, the rap aspect of their music was pretty much completley deleted in phenomenon, in this album it shows Trevors silver tounged skills and ha ability to write good meaningful lyrics. The highlight of this album when i first baught it (the origional release) "When In Doubt" was my favorite song because it had a certain punk rock feel to it along with "Come Along" but after the re-release the best song on thsi album has become "Moments Of The Day" it's one of the first songs they recorded, and probobally the best of their career (coming in second to "Last Words") I would definatley reccomend this album if you liked Pillar's First album. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Superb
'The Ultimate Collection' is a superb double CD set containing many of Petra's best hits.
4-0 out of 5 stars Well, it comes close to the ultimate collection
Like the other artists in this Sparrow series of double-cd retrospectives -- the others are Twila Paris, Keith Green, Phillips Craig and Dean, Michael Card and Steve Green -- Petra was a survivor in an industry that loves to dispose of veteran acts, put their CDs out of print and treat them like they never existed. Just think of WhiteHeart as an example (what? Never heard of WhiteHeart? Exactly).
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Compilation!!!
After 33 years of music and ministry, the long-running Christian rock band Petra called it a day at the end of 2005. What better time than now to release a retrospective that covers the meat of what this band was all about.

5-0 out of 5 stars Every Song Worth The CD
"Caliente" on Phil Keaggy's flamenco and Spanish influenced "Lights of Madrid" might be my favorite. But don't make me choose. I'd waver between "Picante" and "Lights of Madrid," but, given a different mood, the whole album is up for grabs. I like it that much. Not a dud tune to be found.
5-0 out of 5 stars It's A Crowd Pleaser!
Outstanding Album! What more can I say that hasn't been said already? ALL the songs on this CD are beautiful. I've played it for co-workers and fussy family members with nice remarks as a result. Looking for music to entertain guests? You can't go wrong with this one! This is Keaggy's best guitar album. If you haven't heard his talent with instrumental music you don't know what you're missing! Even if you're trying to choose a first CD from Keaggy, I still recommend "Lights Of Madrid." On a personal note: I enjoy this CD Very Much. I have ever since day one. Lets just say it's NOT a dust collector.5-0 out of 5 stars Phil at his best!
In my mind, Phil Keaggy is one of the most inconsistent artists around. His albums range from timeless classics (Beyond Nature, Sunday's Child) to albums so bland they only received a few spins (True Believer comes quickly to mind and just as quickly is forgotten). His latest album, Lights of Madrid, happily falls into the former group with over an hour of compelling, well-crafted acoustic guitar instrumentals that span genres, techniques, and moods. As you may have guessed from the album title, many, but not all, of the pieces show a Spanish influence. Those familiar with Spanish classical guitar will not be disappointed as Phil very capably tackles the legato scales and technical playing required for this genre. Those familiar with Keaggy himself already know that he is a guitar player's guitar player with amazing technical skills, virtuoso skills which often take backstage to the melody and the structure of the song. His best work marries the two, as is evidenced here.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Reasonable - But Not Their Best
This is Audio Adrenaline's second studio album. The band was still searching for a style at this stage of the game, and the album remains somewhat uneven. Having said that, the band does challenge the views of faith on songs like "Scum Sweetheart" and "Jesus and the California Kid".The songs "My World View" (featuring Kevin Max Smith of DC Talk) and "Don't Censor Me" are excellent indicators of the outstanding band AA would become, and "Big House" remains a benchmark of Christian pop/rock.Overall, though, anyone wanting to find out more about AA should start with "Underdog" or "Bloom".

5-0 out of 5 stars Great sound and message - geared to young people
I find this CD to be good for anyone who wants to hear pop-rock with good lyrics.
5-0 out of 5 stars A good variety of songs
I really like this album because of the variety of the types of songs. Audio Adrenaline tries different types of sounds, not just stick to one kind of beat. I absolutely love this album, and the songs are cool. I especially like the guitar in the songs, especially in the song "Big House."

1-0 out of 5 stars Lousy Christian Rock
I used to like this record when I was in Junior High School some 25 years ago. Now I realize that Petra was always a second rate rock band, that only sold records (or cassettes at that time) because they were sort of pioneers in this "Christian Rock" niche market. Basically it was rock music for way uptight born again Christian people who felt guilty listening to "secular" rock music, so they would buy this instead. If you were born 40 years ago, are a religious fanatic and are still in Junior High School, you might like this album.
5-0 out of 5 stars Classic Petra!!Great guitar work!!!!
