4-0 out of 5 stars Great worship
Once again David Crowder shows his versatility in making good Christian music. With echoes of The Postal Service in the first song, Sunsets and Sushi immerses you in techno-worship.This album may not be for everybody (and no album is!) but it definitely leads me to a place of praise everytime I listen to it.It is a great remix of some of Crowders best songs. The remix's of Intoxicating andDeliver Me, provide a needed thematic thrust to the songs that make them much deeper and more moving.
2-0 out of 5 stars DCB bounces one off the plate
As much as I hate to say this, I really do not care for this album. It contains remixes of several DCB classics, and I think that all of them fall well short of the originals. In general I am a big DCB fan. I think the band is very creative and has done a wonderful job of bringing their unique sound to the modern Christian music scene. But I think this album was a mistake.
5-0 out of 5 stars +*+*+* A must have*+*+*+
I highly recomment this cd to not only fans of David Crowder, but to fans of good, well-programmed electronic music everywhere. For those unfamiliar with the band's work they're actually a rock band. This album however, is an "electronic" interpertation of their album ILLUMINATE - not really remixes of the songs from that album (which is what I was expecting). These songs are completely different. The DCB (David Crowder Band) didn't take the easy way out and through a dance beat and some synthesizers under perviously recorded songs like most bands do when offering albums like this. No, they gave the listener brand new songs.

3-0 out of 5 stars Better Than I May Have Expected
This type of album is definitely not my personal cup of tea, but I must admit that Amy Grant is good at what she does. Her songs are straightforward and well-constructed, particularly her hit duet with Vince Gill, "House of Love". My only problem here is the unabashed sweetness of the sentiments that drip over each track. I tend to prefer a bit more reality, but if you love kittens, go to church religiously and believe in true love, you'll probably disagree with me vehemently on this one. The thing is, I believe that Amy Grant is not pretending to be something that she isn't, so although her pure-at-heart sentiments make me suspicious, at least it isn't disgusting treacle. - Tom Ryan

1-0 out of 5 stars Why ruin a classic song
Why did she have to trample Vanessa Williams hit "Oh How The Years Go By". She should have left the song alone. If you want an album of remakes try the lovely "Everlasting Love" by Vanessa Williams. This is headed for the discount bin.

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb !
I remember i bought this album way back in 1995 and had been my favorite. Recently one of my Japanese friend recomended me a Japanese album Jupiter the song is "Everyday i listen to my heart" and the song blew me away and reminded me of Amy Grant's "Children of the World". Since we share similar taste in music. If you like Amy grant then you will certainly like the Japanese album Jupiter too. The "House of love" by Amy Grant is one of the the best album. I have listened to this album so many times and still haven't got over it. "Lucky one", "Big Yellow Taxi" "Power" all are just sublime. Get hold of this album fast. Its truly awesome. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Good, But Predictable
The Newsboys release another worship cd(yawn). While "Adoration" was an interesting and well done cd, "Devotion" continues that trend without adding anything new, exciting, or different. I guess if something works, you stick with it but this cd just kinda left me wishing for more. There are some gems on this cd but nothing can top the simplicity or impact that made "It is You" so powerful. Particularly forgettable is their version of "Blessed Be Your Name", which is a shame because they really do a great version of this in concert. This is a talented band who really can "Shine" when they want to. If you're a new fan, check out "Thrive" which I consider to be a true highlight of their remarkable career and fervent ministry.

5-0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable
Why is it that Christian music is (on average) about 5 or 6 years behind secular mainstream? I mean, it's like they know that since they're a Christian band, it's supposed to be dulled down to make sure it doesn't offend and to ensure a spot on KLove? It's because of these reasons that I gave up on Christian music for a few years. Until now.
4-0 out of 5 stars Nearly as good as Adoration--a very good worship album
Peter Furler and Company have followed up their excellent worship album Adoration with a second worship collection titled Devotion.I loved Adoration, and Devotion is nearly as good.Furler has turned it up a notch this time, as Devotion is a bit rockier than its predecessor. My favorite tracks include "Blessed Be Your Name" (on which Furler duets with Rebecca St. James), Presence (Heart's Desire) and "When The Tears Fall."I also like the title track as well as "Name Above All Names," "I Love Your Ways," "Landslide of Love" and "Strong Tower."While I like Adoration best, Devotion is also very good, and these are two of the best worship albums to come out in recent years. ... Editorial Review

When this material originally resurfaced in an earlier Rhino-celebrates-the-'70s program, many rock scribes contorted themselves into revisionist pretzels: this isn't so bad, they argued--none too convincingly. There'll be none of that here: much of the music on this colossal box set is godawful. The world doesn't miss the likes of Sammy ("Chevy Van") Johns and Sammy ("Candy Man") Davis. Or at least it doesn't miss the records they cut during the decade of disaster flicks and Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Collection... but...
The 70's was the best decade for music. I call it the golden era of music. Outstanding artists such as Electric Light Orchestra, Led Zeppelin, Eagles, Paul McCartney and Wings, Elton John and Carpenters were riding high on the charts. Unfortunately we don't get any of these great artists on this collection. Yes, there are some excellent tunes included but there's also a great amount of schlock such as Climax's "Precious And Few and Gilbert O'Sullivan's "Alone Again Naturally". This song choices for this set I feel could have been better. Though all in all it is worth giving a few listens.

3-0 out of 5 stars a decentset of hits ( and flops )
i can only give this set a 3 star rating because some of the selections here should have died in obscurity. i grew up in the shadows of the 70s (born in 66) and i can only relate to the songs that were popular on AM radio......in my opinion, the 80s decade was musically superior. as far as box sets are concerned? time-life hit the jackpot with a 10 disc set of outstanding hits

2-0 out of 5 stars Soundbites On Every Disk
It's simple.I'm sorry I bought this.Soundbites connected to the tracks of 33 songs!I didn't realize the soundbites aren't separate, but connected to the actual song track. Some of the bites are in front of the song and some at the end.You can't edit them away from the song without some time and editing equipment.Everytime you listen to the song you get to hear the soundbite.I gave it a generous 2 stars because the songs alone sound great. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars WOW.
This album has showed the maturity throughout the bands career.
5-0 out of 5 stars yeah!!!
This is relient k's second best CD and i totally love it, i love the religious songs, and even the weird ones are okay.Anyone who disagrees with me is on crack.

4-0 out of 5 stars Certainly a step up from their debut!
Not to knock their debut, but The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek makes their first album look like child's play. The overall musicality and songwriting improved TREMENDOUSLY, and the slight chessiness present in some tracks from the debut is basically gone. "Sadie Hawkins Dance" has become a RK classic, and is just a fun song. In fact, there is an abundance of fun songs on this CD! :) Additionally, there are plenty of serious, profound songs on Anatomy. "For the Moments I Feel Faint" is a gorgeous statement of faith that tells you to "never underestimate my Jesus." An essential message to hear when going through a trying time. Survival and overcoming obstacles is certainly a theme present in this album; see "Pressing On" and "Breakdown" for examples. The boys also make social commentary in songs like "Down in Flames" and "Maybe It's Maybelline." Overall, the songs complement each other well to make one great CD. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Smitty's creative peak!
To put it very simply; this is musically the best MWS album. There's so much happening in the music and I still to this day find new stuff in there, it's amazing. This CD really was "contemporary" or actually ahead of it's time when it came out. Given the right promotion this album could have been an even bigger mainstream hit than "Go west young man". Oh, well... 5-0 out of 5 stars Every song a winner
Is there a bad song on this album? I can't find one. What I do find are a lot of stellar, not-to-be-missed tracks like "Picture Perfect" and "I Will Be Here For You". The somewhat overlooked "Cross Of Gold" carries an insanely catchy chorus and important message, while "Somewhere Somehow" represents a beautiful duet with Amy Grant. The album also features an updated and improved version of the classic song, "Friends". How can you go wrong?

4-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as Songs to Burn your bridges by.
I think this albu is solid and pretty good, put is seemed to have lost a little of the agressivness and amazingness that made songs to burn your bridges by such and awsome album. But the CD still rocks my socks pretty good so if youre a P86 fan buy and if your not buy it anyway. Best songs have got to be 1,2, and 7

I have listened to many cd's. I have heard many bands. No one comes close to how amazing this band is. Since their first cd, no one has been as lyrically diverse as them. 1-0 out of 5 stars Progressing Confusion
There seems to be a lot of confusion about Neal Morse. Some people still haven't figured out that Neal Morse is a religious guy, others seem to confuse Neal Morse's religion with Christianity.Neal Morse is not a Christian, at least not in any historical sense of the term.Neal Morse denies the doctrine of the Trinity, and has a view of Jesus Christ that is akin to that of the Watchtower Cult.To Neal Morse Jesus is just a created being, a very nice created being, but a created being nonetheless. Neal's own website states that he has tried to put his views on this issue in this album.Take a pass on this indoctrination in heresy.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great album - content even greater
Neal is a Christian, and for some reason this is a problem for some people.I'm always amazed at how accepting the world is of every other religion and feel they have a right to display and profess their views. However when a Christian writes a Christian album speaking of the only thing that matters the most in their lives (God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit) people have a problem with it.
5-0 out of 5 stars this guy is a singularity
neal morse is a wellspring of talent, creativity and vision. i listen to his music and get images of a wide variety of prior artists: from yes, genesis, emerson-lake-palmer, steely dan, the beatles and pink floyd to neal diamond and barry manilow. but as i listen i find that those images are fleeting - the songs are far more than a derivative amalgamation of prior styles, they are unique, imaginative and well-constructed. i'm aware of only precious few musicians who've been able to write and sing songs of this level of interest, complexity and sophistication (plus have a memorable tune that goes along with you during your day), and also be an excellent keyboardist and guitarist. the closest artist i can think of in the christian music genre, in terms of talent and creativity, is the late rich mullins. this is a great cd. i especially like the instrumental sections of "in the fire / solid as the sun" and "12".the give-and-take keyboard-guitar exchanges in "in the fire" by jordan rudess and alan morse, and the burning guitar solo by steve hackett (genesis) at the end of "12" alone are worth five times the cost of this cd.i also found the lyrics of "inside his presence" to be quite moving.to get a better idea of morse's range of talent and musical intricacy, watch the "testimony live" dvd -- great entertainment! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars D? shows that both their faith and music keep getting "Stronger"
Delirious? is one of the few Christian artists I really enjoy. Most Christian music is pretty cookie-cutter with predictable ballad-type music and straightforward (and often shallow) lyrics. That stuff I can't listen to, but Delirious? has gone beyond and makes real music, with their own definite, intense sound. Frankly, they can hold their own with U2, but they'll never get the same huge audience because their lyrics are explicitly "Jesus freak" Christian -- which is a great thing.
5-0 out of 5 stars fire
bear with me.. i'd describe shane&shane's music as the passion of a Christian's walk with God.. david crowder band as the joy.. and delirious? as the fire/fiery passion(?) for God.. as God's army.. true.. the songs sound the same.. if ur mindlessly listening to the music while taking the train home.. but these songs have lyrics for a reason.. and what heart-felt lyrics they are.. honestly.. i don't think i could have appreciated this album or delirious?'s heavy hand in the rock genre if i didn't see them in concert.. which is when i saw the heart that was behind every word sung and note played.. which is when i saw the sincerity pass the fog machine and professional lighting.. for a band that could so easily get caught up in themselves and their own glory.. delirious is a breath of fresh air during at time when more and more artists dance over the line of Christian and/or mainstream artists.. delirious? never hides the fact that they love God.. that they are here for God.. and all that they do is for the glory of their Heavenly Father.. now that's how it should be done.. also reading the background on the songs while listening to them is quite moving.. especially for "i'll see you" and "miracle maker" ([...].. scroll to the bottom)

This is their best yet.
3-0 out of 5 stars ok, but not really
this cd is not the good old jars of clay that I know.it's kind of weird and its just not them.i really only like "these ordinary days", but the rest are just ok.theyre not as acoustic and doesn't sound jars of clayish.

2-0 out of 5 stars What happened?
Let me say that first and foremost Jars of Clay is my favorite band and I have been listening to them for nearly a decade. The first three albums were superb, and Who we are Instead is also an excellent album. This album is definately JoC's most bland and cookie cut album. The biggest problem I have with this album is that it's song are of a typical mainstream christian idealism, a category that a lot of contemporary christian artists have unfortunately been emmersed in.Don't get me wrong, songs about God are more than encouraged, I love Worlds Apart, Much afraid, Hymn, and just about any other jars of clay song. But there was a level of uncertainty, passion, and doubt in Jars of Clay's songs. The songs on this album are, like I said earlier, christian cookie cut. There is nothing special about the lyical content of this album.I also have to say that revolution is one of my least favorite jars of clay songs.A song that basically states over and over again, hey, you don't have to conform to the rest of society to become a revolution.Weak lyics, it is very obvious that you need not conform to change stuff, but it stops there, it would also seem obvious that one would be required not to conform to society to be any influence to another person.I'm dissapointed to be writing such a lack luster, whiny review about my favorite band.If you like cookie cutter christian songs, get this album, also be sure to pick up Avalon too. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Loud gospel rock adults can sink their teeth into
I am a junior HS youth worker hanging out with students while pre-service music programmed into an ipod was playing through the sound system. The tunes coursing throughout the room were one mundane millenium christian rock or rap tune after another that today's kids listen to.I barely noticed it.Every song sounded the same one after another. Then suddenly, this guitar-driven rocker is rollin' and it's got my attention.I'm thinkin', this would sound awesome turned up loud.I went up to the sound board and checked the display on the ipod.I'd never heard of Decemberadio.
5-0 out of 5 stars DecembeRadio Brings Back Stadium Rock!
DecembeRadio released their self-titled debut album June 27, 2006 and with that release they brought solid, straight-ahead arena-style rock `n' roll back to the airwaves.Their style of rock is reminiscent of the seventies stadium rock groups like Kansas, Boston and Aerosmith and a pure southern-rock sound like The Black Crowes or Lynyrd Skynyrd. In fact, I was at a recent show where they covered Kansas' "Carry On My Wayward Son" and also covered the Lenny Kravitz tune "Are You Gonna Go My Way".If you are familiar with those songs and know that they "rock", then you will love DecembeRadio!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great CD
Kutless' self titled debut is a great rock album. It has distinctive vocals, powerful instrumentation, and solid Christian lyrics.
1-0 out of 5 stars no imagination
This disc lacks imagination. They sound Creed like but they are a wee bit softer. I dont like this music anymore but when I did I failed to realize that Kutless lacks meaning in their songs. I mean look at the titles Down, Away, Tonight. Not that these songs are confusing metaphors like some Christian rocker"s songs are. These songs lack depth and creativity. And the music sounds like any other band out today.
5-0 out of 5 stars Definitely better than Thousand Foot Krutch
Already loving 'Strong Tower' and 'Sea of Faces' (alright, so I was late to the Christian rock scene), I decided to get both this album and Thousand Foot Krutch's 'Phenomenon' at the same time.Kutless is clearly the better band in this instance because you can truly hear their devotion to Jesus Christ through their lyrics - unlike TFK.Their lyrics are hard-core, but they touch on the agressive aspects of faith that are typically forgotten in the wishy-washy world that we live in.Hats off to Kutless, and, sorry TFK, my Rawkfist has a thumb pointing down. ... there lives in canada...an amazing talent named emm gryner and she is worth a listen ...up until now ..i thought her without a peer ...that is until i heard michelle tumes...and now. well i guess its safe to say that not only does the secular world have dibs on real talent. buy this cd and enjoy a relaxing ,soothing and yet uplifting record.

5-0 out of 5 stars Michelle Tumes.. Not quite my style.
I bought this album because I had read great reviews on her music. However, I did not personally like her style of singing. It is very hard to actually hear the words of her songs and the background music is very repetitive. I know that this will not be a popular review.. but it is an honest one.
5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful
This first album of Michelle Tumes is one of the best musical albums out there in the world. Her music is soothing, inspiring, full of messages of Christ, and excellently done. My favorite track is "Untame Lion", a great one to listen to, and shows just how much Christ loves us, and though he might not be a safe God, he is a God of love. "Healing Waters" and "Listen" are among my other favorite tracks and have great messages as well. Get this album now! ... Read more

Editorial Review

Mediterranean flourishes mixed with big rock rhythms and flawless pop hooks propel the debut CD by righteous rockers Burlap to Cashmere out from the crowd of new artists into a territory relatively unoccupied in either the Christian or mainstream marketplace. Familial harmonies resonate against nylon-stringed guitars and catchy worldbeat rhythms, while Steven Delopoulos's sweetly gritty voice gives an instrument to his universally spiritual yet uniquely Christian lyrics. Songs like "Digee Dime," "Basic Instructions," and "Anybody Out There?" percolate with Mediterranean heat. While more-conventional pop tunes like "Eileen's Song," "Treasures in Heaven," and "Mansions" are less distinctive, they display the band's deft skill at pop songcraft as well as its impeccable melodies and playing. A remarkable debut. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars What could have been...
Here is the true and tragic story of Burlap to Cashmere.
5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best albums of the decade
In the post grunge wake of the early 90's, music took a nosedive towards the incoherent.Burlap to Cashmere is one of the best exceptions of the decade of angst ridden pop.The songs are deeply moving and stirring. The classical-nylon guitars are virtuosic in their performance and dynamic sensitivity.I haven't heard anything like it in recent years. The sheer passion of the music comes through the CD with great clarity. The world beats and complicated rhythmic meters are stunning in their execution. The desperation and simultaneous hope of the lyrics come through.I have no idea why we haven't heard more from these guys. They easily are one of the best bands to have come in the modern era.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazingly Unique
Wow. Their sound is unlike any genre I've heard before. They mix guitar and percussion in new ways that is almost distracting. When you think you've got them figured out, they through another curveball at you. I wish they had done more albums. I also bought Steven Delopoulos' almbum "Me Died Blue". It's just as good. Check it out... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars So Unique it Hurts
I'm actually giving this record five stars, a first for me on this site. I am giving it five stars simply because this is a record everyone should listen to once. It may not be for everyone, but everyone should definitely give it a try as this is an absolutely unique band.
4-0 out of 5 stars this band needs to find a better audience
It's unfortunate that this band will mostly be overlooked thanks to them being on a terrible Christian label. This really is a great album and quite an original take on emotionally charged indie rock. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best of the WOW Series.
Contemporary Christian music involves such a varied range of styles and mood that to offer a fair and enjoyable sampling is a tough task. In the past, the songs released on WOW anthologies have been conservative at best, profiling mostly the mainstream pop samples of the industry's top artists. With WOW 2002 (and its amazing 2001 predecessor -- which is why my review of this and 2001's issue are pretty similar), listeners who prefer their music a little louder and more energetic are, at last, given attention! Like 2001's sampling, the heavier tunes are mostly centered within one disc, whereas the more mainstream pop tunes on the other. This is an excellent idea, as people can have a "favorite" of the two discs based on their style. Overall the songs flow well together, and you're left with the sense that much care was taken to make this an overall enjoyable, and educational experience. It's a nice feeling to be able to praise God while at the same time slapping your hands on the steering wheel!

4-0 out of 5 stars Decent
This album is decent. i would rather listen to 2003 of Wow, since there is way more music. This is a beginning set into the world, yet there is much rock music to be notice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not Wow, but Oh My Gosh 2002!
This was the first Christian CD I've ever got, and I immediately fell in love with it.It's how I came to learn about Christian artists and groups.I loved the track by Zoegirl, Elms, and Jennifer Knapp.I could listen to the whole thing for hours and not get tired of it.About 15 times better than Wow 1996 and diverse like nothing else.DEFINITELY a recommendation. ... Jars of Clay are well established as one of Christian music's pre-eminent bands. In less than a decade, Jars have racked up numerous awards and sold millions of CDs, and prompted musicians of all stripes to marvel at the group's magical guitar interplay. But can they pull it off live? Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent mix of acoustic and live
This double CD from Jars of Clay shows the strong mix of their acoustic songs and live performances. Overall, the live CD is the better of the two. But, both provide a nice overview of this important Christian band. The strongest songs on the Live CD include "I Need You", "Revolution", and "Flood".
5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible Album
I'm actully listening to it as i write this review. This is such an incredible selection of music. i actully bought it at SoulFest 2004. I'm actully going back this year to hear them again. If you buy this album you won't regret it. it's packed with music with lyrics and rythems that you won't forget. Some highlights i thought were good were Disappear, Eleventh Hour (disk 2), Overjoyed, and Fly (remembered it well from the concert). I would recomend this to the die hard fan right down to if you've never heard them before. worth every penny. good job guys.

4-0 out of 5 stars 2 disks - how can you lose?
initially i was more captivated by the studio, more acoustic cd. among the new songs, redemption is my favorite. it expresses the duality of victory and regret, joy and sorrow, as the speaker examines his road to redemption in hindsight. dan haseltine does an excellent job conveying all these contrasting emotions. the redone songs are full of surprises as well, showing how much they've grown tighter as a band, and what they are able to accomplish using only minimal instruments. liquid is full of creative piano fills, overjoyed is laid back and redone to sound more lounge-y, and needful hands is stripped down bare bones to just guitar and voice as an excellent, heartstrikingly honest cry.

2-0 out of 5 stars It was probaly really good when it came out.
About a year ago I bought this album along with the debut and time. This was the first disk I put in my player and I only found a few good songs. The grunge and hard-rock thing going on gets annoying after a while.(But we all have our own opinions.)I recommend debut, time, come together,or the offerings. But,if you do buy this, listen to the clips.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great sophmore album
Third Day stays away from the dreaded sophmore slump in this disc.It wasn't as commercially sucessful as their debut album I feel mainly because they've changed their music style.Their debut album was more southern rock while this disc h
