5-0 out of 5 stars Yes, David Crowder, I Hear You Loud and Clear!
So I have "Illuminate" and "A Collision" (the best CD of all time!) but decided that my collection was missing something if I did not purchase "Can You Hear Us?"I'm very glad I did!The CD starts off with "I Need Words," which is just David and an acoustic guitar and is sparse but beautiful. Then it goes onto track 2 with "Our Love Is Loud," a rocking song that is classic David Crowder.Track 3, "You're My Everything" is one of my favorites as David's voice is perfectly fragile and each inflection he sings fits with the emotion of the song.Tracks four and five are also very good songs that make you want to sing along.I have mixed feelings, however, with track 6, "All Creatures of our God and King."The tempo is kind of odd and it does not sound nearly as good as "All Creatures #2" that is on Illuminate.Oh well."God of Wrath" is a cool song, but one of my favorites is David Crowder's cover of "Obsession" by Delirious. The song and theme work to David's strength and when he's singing "And my heart burns for you," you know that he truly means it."My Hope" is also a very strong track on this CD that makes you want to sing the chorus with him.Track 10 is a cover of a Sinead O'Conner song ("Thank You For Hearing Me"), which works perfectly with a Christian song and David ends it with "My Jesus, I love thee; I know Thou Art Mine."Very cool. Then we have a cover of Matt Redman's song "Undiginified," which David also makes his own.Lastly, there is the secret song "You Alone" that finishes off the album beautifully with the repeating words "I'm Alive, I'm Alive."All in all, this is a very strong worship album. The cool thing about the David Crowder Band is that they can take any song and make it cool and put their own seal on it.Many bands don't have a signature sound or do covers that try to sound like the original (but usually fail). Not so with this band. His voice is filled with such passion that it makes you want to close your eyes and sing along. This CD, in my opinion, is not as good as "Illuminate" (which is definitely a five star album as well) or as good as "A Collision," (which is a six star album!).However, you can see how the David Crowder band has matured with each CD and are just getting better and better (I also think it is amazing how his 3 full length CDs here on Amazon all have an average rating of 5!).If you do not have this CD, I highly recommend because it has many good tracks and your CD collection wouldn't be the same without it.Rock on, David Crowder!

4-0 out of 5 stars Unique Sound, Solid Lyrics
This album is full of worshipful Christian lyrics combined with a sound that is very catchy.
4-0 out of 5 stars Can you hear us? David Crowder CD

3-0 out of 5 stars Decent but needs some work
It's decent music definately professional but It needs some work to break the monotony and bring out more colors in the songs.I wouldn't recommend this one just yet but perhaps the next one will be better.

5-0 out of 5 stars decyfer down--end of grey
This is a great cd from a new band. "break free" is a great rock song that you don't want to miss. --I rate this cd 9/10

5-0 out of 5 stars I can't wait for these guys next CD
This album has ten songs and all that have hooks that grab you and pull you in. Heavy guitars and a lead singer with a great voice who puts his heart into every note he sings. This album had my head bobbing on their fast songs. I even enjoy the pop sounding ballard "here to you". My favorite is the second cut "Life Again". ... Read more

Amazingly enough, I liked Another Journal Entry more than BarlowGirl's self-titled CD. And Another Journal Entry (Expanded Edition) is even greater. If you read my review for Another Journal Entry, you know that I'm a huge fan. The Expanded Edition of the CD is even better!

5-0 out of 5 stars Takes 2 Times....
The first time I heard this CD, I was kind of mad that Sanctus Real had completely changed their edgy style. The second time I heard it, I really liked it. I realized that these songs relate to me as I am going through tough times now.Its a nice blend of U2 and Coldplay and Kutless all mixed....

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome CD
This is an awesome CD. Totally worth every penny. I had only heard one song by Sanctus Real, 'I'm Not Alright', and I was hesitant about buying the CD in case that would be the only good song on it. But that song was so good, that I got up the determination to buy 'The Face of Love', and did so. I listened to it as soon as I could. And I can say that it is an excellent CD. You might not be able to realize that the first time you hear it, but the second time, you'll really appreciate it. It truly is awesome. The songs are beautiful. Especially 'Thank You' (a fav of mine) and 'Fly'. Buy it- if you have good taste, ;) you will not regret it.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Real Deal.
Phenomenal CD! Sanctus Real just keeps getting better."The Face of Love" is by far the best music I have ever heard.I really didn't think that they could outdo their last CD, "Fight the Tide" but "The Face of Love" has definitely stepped things up. Great music, great message, fantastic production. If you liked "Fight the Tide" you'll love "The Face of Love"! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars There's talent and then there's Kendall Payne
Sitting in an anonymous hotel room in Sri Lanka, the distant sound of the TV alerted me to pay attention. I stood and watched for several minutes and was instantly captivated by a video from Kendall Payne's previous album 'Jordan's Sister'. I made a note of her name and album in my notebook. Back in Singapore, I bought probably the only copy available here of her second album 'Grown'. Whenever I have time for music, this and 'Jordan's Sister' are definitely on my play list. Yes, this is labeled as contemporary Christian music and Kendall Payne's lyrics deliver the personal thoughts she is trying to convey in a neat tidy, powerful and concise way, whether through a rock track or slower song. I also get the real impression she's not trying to ram a Christian message down anyone's throat either, just telling us what she thinks, which I think people will respect. So this album will appeal to a wide audience in so far as it stands up extremely well as a pop / rock album on its own merit. What this album also achieves (as with 'Jordan's Sister') is to rise above the benchmark for many good albums through the outstanding musical and lyrical talent of Kendall Payne which is well beyond her years. Despite not having a regular record label, this artist has a growing following. By listening to her two albums, it is not hard to understand why.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just had her play at my church today
I'm not eliquent, however I'm honest and my opinion is that Kendall Payne is an excellent preformer/singer/songwriter. Her music cuts to the heart and moves the spirit. It's enjoyable and worth listening to again and again. I even convienced my metal loving husband to buy her cd.She performed at our church today 05/28/06 and we were able to meet her.She is as down to earth as one can be.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Grown" is five stars, SHE's the sixth!
Too often, the fickle and mercenary music business requires listeners to work harder than they should need to in order to find the sort of quality contained in "Grown", not to mention Kendall's first album, "Jordan's Sister".The one-word title of this follow-up release says it all, for as praiseworthy as her debut was, Kendall Payne truly HAS grown, into an even more engaging, insightful, and entertaining performer than she was in '99.Her literate and challenging lyrics reflect those of an artist well beyond her years, and she does them justice with a voice that is at once comforting, passionate and pure. Each of Kendall Payne's songs is a journey, and she is a beautiful, trustworthy guide.Tim Schoenhals' production is truly outstanding. He seems to understand what Kendall wants and needs to convey with her music, and he has helped her shape these songs into a wonderful body of work. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Melanie was the Jewel of the Woodstock Generation. Like her three-decades-down-the-road heir, the woman born Melanie Safka made a quick splash as a radio-friendly singer-songwriter. Something of a male Donovan (what is this, no-surname syndrome?), Melanie took hits (like Jewel, too) for delivering what critics considered hippie-dippy platitudes. (She came to resent her "bliss ninny" image and rebelled against it following her late-'60s, early-'70s heyday.) But, also like Donovan, Melanie's best songs have aged nicely, thanks in large part to her knack for integrating her distinctive rasp into ingratiating hooks and solid folk-rock arrangements. Alternating between melismatic sing-alongs ("Lay Down," here in unedited seven-minute-plus form, her splendid cover of "Ruby Tuesday," "What Have They Done to My Song, Ma?") and precious novelty numbers ("The Nickel Song," "Brand New Key," "Animal Crackers"), Melanie wrote her own little bit of pop history, which is celebrated in this worthy 19-song retrospective. All the hits are here, remastered by art-rock avatar Robert Fripp. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Melanie? A true artist or a sign of her times?
This CD captures, some, but not all of Melanie's greatest moments. As a songwriter she is superb. As a guitar player she is unmannered & simple. As a vocalist she was quite original and quite good, especially her phrasing. The earlier cuts showcase the quirky quality of Melanie's voice. The middle period cuts prove that Melanie was indeed a great vocalist. This album inspired me to purchase 2 other Melanie CDs, "Moments From My Life" & " Crazy Love". The latter showcases Melanie new and far improved songwriting abilities. She is one of the best. However, the former is a disaster. Her voice? What happened? I can't even listen to it. All singers, with age, have lost some of their vocal instrument. But, Melanie has lost most, if not all of it. On certain cuts it sounds as if she is dying. Awful! Do not buy the latter Melanie albums if singing is your thing. But, her greatest hits package is very good & it highlights an artist at her prime.

3-0 out of 5 stars What a collection!!
I just read through some of the other reviews on this CD.I've heard most of these tracks already, so I wouldn't be in for much of a surprise.
5-0 out of 5 stars Melanie the Great
Although I haven't heard this particular CD, I've heard all these songs before, though I couldn't say if they are all originals. I AM a Melanie fan. She has been a part of my life. I love her. All these early songs are of course of a different style than her mid 70s to mid 80s work, which had progressed to sheer brilliance. There's precious little to compare it with. I've never heard her work likened to witchy, as a reviewer said, which is plain stupidity. It WAS unique however, and I didn't always like it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Monotonous Album
Todd Agnew's song, Grace Like Rain, is an amazing song. However the album is composed of very similar songs... same tempo, same mood, same husky voice and instrumentals. The lyrics are so-so, some are inspiring, but the music is depressing, especially after 10 similar songs.
4-0 out of 5 stars Todd Agnew Gets Real
Todd has a real, earthy husky voice and we can relate to his songs. He sings as if he is one of us, as he is.

4-0 out of 5 stars Powerful album of faith
Great songs, great heart. A little too "cute" on how Todd places the lengthy pauses between songs of the final track, but nonetheless a wonderful album. The title cut, "Grace Like Rain", is a classic. "Romans 12:1" is a keeper and the raw passion of "Wait for Your Rain" is absolutely powerful. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great stuff, if not what one might expect...
I have heard John Michael Talbot in concert a few times over the past several years and enjoyed a wonderful worship experience.Though his Catholicism has some clear distinctions from my own Protestant beliefs, I find that Talbot truly has the heart of a worshipper, which will connect with Christians of all stripes.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great Value, Great Tracks, Could Do with Some Remastering Though!
JMT is an exceptional artist and would be in any musical genre. His great singing voice coupled with his great songwriting and musicianship means that we Christians should count ourselves blessed that he has chosen to use his gifts for the glory of God.Many of the tracks on this 35-track double-disc album have been covered by other artistes and his obviously heartfelt renditions of his material totally inspires his listeners and reminds them of God's great love for them. The only thing that could be inproved upon is the sound quality which could do with some remastering using the modern-day sound technology that is out there.Otherwise, this is an excellent worship cd and comes very highly recommended.35 tracks on 2 discs at less than 15 bucks? If that's not great value, I don't know what is.

3-0 out of 5 stars Soothing Sounds to Satisfy the Soul

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!
"Awesome" is the one word that best describes this CD! I'd heard of Newsboys, but searched for the music after hearing Amazing Love (You Are My King) at the Lifesong church on Sunday. Can't wait to hear more from them. Inspiring & rocking worship and praise music.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great
I like the CD, it did not take too long to receive the item, and it sounds great.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Worship Album that isn't "too worshippy"
I love this album because the music is fantastic, not schmaltzy as some praise music can sound/feel.Each one is fun to sing and I think they capture a wide variety of praise moods. The song "Lord (I Don't Know)" got me through a rough time, and I enjoy "Take My Hands (Praises)" so much we incorporated it into our VBS program last summer."In Christ Alone" and "Great is Your Faithfulness" are new twists on classic hymns, if in name only. There isn't a song on this disc I don't like. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding
Stacie Orrico has got to be by far one of the best pop singers I have heard in a while...she reminds me of Christina Auguleria when she first came onto the scene.Stacie has an amazing voice, one that will blow you away. And the first song that I heard by her was Stuck and it was alright it made me notice her with how she kept the bridge of the song riding and how smooth her voice was, but I didn't get to really hear her skills still I heard There's Gotta Be More To Life" and when I heard it I said to myself "I'm going to go get that!" and thats exactly what I did.Her voice is very powerful and she could very well be in a leauge of herown, I put her up there with Christina, Beyonce, and Mariah and that is saying a lot! I give 2 thumbs way way up!!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good
This is the only ablum out of 3 that I own by Stacie Orrico, and I really like her! She has a great voice, and the songs are very well-written. I really like it that her songs are sweet and encouraging in some ways, which is probably her way of spreading the gospel to others. I've had this CD for quite a while, but I wanted to write a review to share with others about what I think of it. The first song I ever heard by her was "More to life", and I was blown away by that song! I loved it! I gave this 4 stars because it wasn't NEARLY as good as I really thought it would be. You'll see why right here, when I talk about these songs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Much Afraid...Timeless
Much Afraid has to be one of Jars of Clay's best albums to date. Each song has so much expression. Much Afraid is timeless, In 2007, the album will be ten years old and the songs will never become outdated. Jars of Clay are a genius group, I know each track had to be ahead of Its time. I think It may have been overwhelming for some, but Much Afraid is a very deep album. From the start when I first heardCrazy times, Fade to Gray, Frail and Truce, I was hooked. These are the songs that become timeless. I think Jars of Clay has broken the barriers of conventional music and ingenious composition.

4-0 out of 5 stars best gospel album ever
This is still my favourite gospel (rock) album ever. Although I also like Adrian Snell's The passion. What sets this apart from other releases are the catchy melodies, the heartfelt lyrics and pure emotion. I'm a music fan and this is just a good catchy record. Don't let the 'gospel' genre scare you there's a lot of good music in this genre, rock and rap.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is Jars best album by far.

Editorial Review

It can't be said enough that DC Talk is one of the most relevant and critical forces of change in the history of Contemporary Christian Music. They brought the sounds and words of the streets into the consciousness of mainstream Christianity. And musically, they've done it in the most pleasing manner. This hits package is but a mere glimpse of the brilliance Toby McKeehan, Michael Tait, and Kevin Smith have displayed in so many styles throughout their 10-year career in DC Talk. There are beautiful ballads of forgiveness ("Between You and Me"), riveting rockers of conviction ("Jesus Freak"), and the quiet, stark realities of being role models ("What If I Stumble?"). New cuts "Say the Words (Now)" and "Chance" play up the sweet melodies these guys know so well. Older fans will enjoy the inclusion of "Luv Is a Verb" and "Socially Acceptable." As long as the group keeps its finger on the pulse of the mainstream and its heart focused on the Almighty, another decade of hits is a good bet. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Crossover Christian Record
To the audience used to Third Days' worship songs, like Offerings and Offerings II, Wired may come as a shock. Not once does any of the lyrics mention Lord, God, or Jesus. The listeners may feel disappointed hearing its "watered down" lyrics. Still, the album, in general, is solid. It gives good encouragements to those striving for fame, but failed. The song, "It's a Shame" has an especially poignant message about abusive relationships. As for the music, they sound good, but could use some improvement. Still, you won't feel sorry about buying the record.

4-0 out of 5 stars All-out Rock n' Roll by Third Day
Don't get me wrong - I'm a major Third Day fan, as evidenced by the number of other reviews on Amazon I've written on their albums. But this one doesn't strike me as being the pure genius that "Offerings II: All I Have to Give", "Time", or "Wherever You Are" did.
3-0 out of 5 stars Just Doesn't Do Anything For Me
I have always felt pretty neutral about Third Day.I don't love them and I don't hate them.To me, they're just alright.Their songs always have a great message and they are awesome about serving Jesus.I know that a lot of people love them and they are great witnesses. However, I feel like their songs aren't catchy enough. They do not make me want to sing along and share that experience of worship. So I just kind of sit back and get bored.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Band, Amazing Album
This band/album is simply amazing. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a CD this much! It is truly one of those bands that you can't stop listening to. The music is beautifully written and the vocal/guitar work is legendary.I'd recommend this album to anyone. You won't regret this purchase, I promise!

4-0 out of 5 stars A step down from NTFP, but every band has to start somewhere!
I got this album after being so incredibly impressed with Never Take Friendship Personal. While it doesn't quite reach the bar of their sophomore release, it shows the potential that the band tapped into for NTFP. "Cadence" is the standout track for me; it's one of the few tracks they have on either album that explicitly says the word "God," but you can find profound spiritual overtones in songs from both releases. Every band has a beginning, and this is Anberlin's. Be a true fan and pick it up. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Remember the guys in your school who were too smart and sarcastic for their own good? Put guitars on them with a punk-pop penchant and you’ve got Relient K, Canton, Ohio’s most famous import since the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The band’s third release is a thoroughly enjoyable romp of rambunctious buzz-saw guitars and smart-aleck lyrics churned out by singer Matthew Thiessen. Who else could get away with lines like "Let’s get emotional girls to wear mood rings/ So we’ll be tipped off when they’re ticked off" in the wildly clever "Mood Rings," or "Hoopes I did it again/ Relationships are something I can’t comprehend" from the suburban-boredom tribute "Hoopes I Did It Again." Yet, the band never loses sight of its faith in these matters, always finding God at the end of their collective ropes. The tight rhythm section of bassist Brian Pittman and drummer Dave Douglas shine again, laying a foundation upon which Thiessen and Matthew Hoopes blaze away on their 6-strings. Maybe all that time in the principal’s office did do the guys some good!Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome
Okay, for starters I got this CD with a different cover, it had all four cars in a junkyard on the front. The CD is....eh...hmm...AWESOME.

5-0 out of 5 stars A pop-punk CD that stands the test of time
3/4 of the cd's I own, without exception, rarely get played after a month or two. Some grow tiresome after just a few listens, others after more, but rarely do I listen to a cd 2 years after I buy it! Relient K's "two lefts don't make a right...but three do" is the exception to the 3/4 rule. This is truly one of the best pop-punk cd's I own, with great lyrics, chorus' and guitar parts. It's catchy and driving, but it's also got nice melodic moments to even things out. I don't even have to mention that replay value is very, VERY high.
5-0 out of 5 stars What I think of Relient K
I think their AWESOME!!!!!!!!! I love the song In Love With The 80's. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars You will love this!
I'm not really under 13, but I'm using my dad's account to review this. Anyways, Amy Grant really had a lot to do to make another album as good as Unguarded and Lead Me On, but she did it! This was probably one of my first favorite cd's ever (I've loved it for 10 years already) Here are the track listings
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent pop fluff that has lasted well!
tHIS 1991 album by GOSPEL singer Amy Grant is incredible. The track "Baby Baby" was a well-deserved hit despite it's incredibly sacharrine style and "You're Not Alone" is pure rocking energy. This is a highly recommended CD!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful
Possibly Amy's best work. All christian artist today who have thier singles playing on secular radio stations owe a lot to Amy Grant, the first superstar of the chirstian/pop music crossover. This album has been one of my favorites since i was 6. I grew up in the late 80's and early 90's listening to all of Amy's albums but when when this one came out I had a favorite. Tracks like "Good For Me", "Baby Baby" and "Every Heartbeat" are a joy to listen to, as well as all of the other songs. In particular the song " ASK ME" really helped out somebody in my family who had been abused. This album showed people it is ok for a christian artist to sing about relationships and things other than Jesus Christ. Even in 1985 "Find a Way" was a groundbreaker. That single became the first by a christian artist to get into the top 40 PC. One thing I like about this album is the last song.....it just says that everything she just sang about was secondary to Jesus...."When it all comes down.....if there is anything good that happens in life it's from Jesus". Amy will always be the queen of CCM....if it was not for her who knows CCM might not even be a genre. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Bethany #1 Fan
I love Bethany Dillon!I saw her CD in Borders and listened to a clip. I thought it sounded pretty good so my parents bought it for me for my birthday. I fell in love with the CD! I wrote her management and they sent me an autographed picure. I bought a Bethany Dillon shirt at her concert and she signed the back of it.
5-0 out of 5 stars An Amazing Voice
This is one teenager with a truly amazing voice. With a voice like this at 15, it will be a real treat to hear it when it has matured a bit.She may be in a category by herself by the time she is twenty.
5-0 out of 5 stars Young and Absolutely Amazing
Not only does Dillon have incredible musical talent, her lyrics are mindblowing. She says what we are thinking. In "Beautiful" it talks about our inner thoughts of wanting to be seen as beautiful, worthy, and lovable. It's amazing that at her young age she is able to express herself so wonderfully to connect with her audience. Her songs can also be very worshipful, as they all recognize God's goodness and point back to Him. I would love to meet this girl someday, no other girl at her age have I seen with such depth. ...
