love it
I got this when my son was over one.He is 2 now and we still love it.I rotate between this and one other cd.This is my husband's favorite one.I never get sick of this cd and I've heard it MANY times!

The Very Best Lullaby CD!
I am a grandmother of three; 2 four year olds and a one year old. I ordered four lullaby cds for times that the baby is with me. This is by far the most soothing...every song.Some of the others have peaceful songs and the next one would be loud.
Great for Babies
I was given this as a gift at my baby shower.When I listened to the first song, I thought it may be a little TOO religious (not that it is a bad thing, but I was hoping for a more generic lullaby experience for my newborn).However, once I got into it a little, I found it to be calming, soothing, and very well done.My son is now 18 months, and although we rotate lullaby and classical music CDs at night, "I Can Only Imagine" is the ONLY CD we travel with.I end up sleeping in the same room with him and actually ENJOY listening to it all night long.The music and vocals are great, and the songs are beautiful. ... Wonderful
Everyone in my house loves this CD.We borrowed it from our local library as well and had to own one for ourselves.None of us has ever fallen asleep to it though, we like to listen to it while playing or doing artwork.

Rock-A-Bye Your Baby...
Too beautiful for words(but I'll give it my best shot), "Fairy Dreams - Magical Lullabies" is a soft, andsoothing mix of traditonal folk lullabies, with a special added touch of warmth by Linda Ronstadt. Disappointed
I wasn't able to play this CD.Unlike most CDs, it is not a stamped copy, it is a burned copy which makes it unplayable in my older CD player.For $20 I expected it to work like any other CD.
WOW! This CD works on my daugher's colic
This is really different from all the other CD's we tried - this really works- the music is very organic and immediatly effective - put us to sleep also - we might have some relief from my daugther's colic finally! (don't play this while driving!)

Great recording by a very cute little Shirley
This is a collection of most of Shirley's songs from the first half of her career... and it goes beyond the Good Ship Lollipop. The recording is old, which you can tell from the sound - there is very light static, but the music is still clear and much better than I was expecting. It includes songs from Curly Top, Captain January, and the two Old South movies which are not the ones she is remembered for - but they are among my favourites personally. I love "Love's Young Dream" and "Believe Me"... It also has her three performances with Jack Haley and Alice Faye from "Poor Little Rich Girl", which are other favourites of mine... One of the best Shirley Temple CDs
"America's Sweetheart" has a total of 51 songs on only two CDs! 19 of which are NOT contained in the 3 CD box set, "Stand Up and Cheer" (which has 60 songs)...Read more

The whole family loves it!
I bought this CD when my daughter was four months old. I turn it on if I want her to fall asleep in the car. It works every time because it is soothing and peaceful. At the same time, I love to listen to myself, and my husband loves it as well. A great CD all around. ... Read more

Will Calm My Baby if it Doesn't Drive her Crazy First
My daughter needs to have music playing when she sleeps. That's just a fact because we in a house in the city. This is the weirdest cd I have ever heard. It doesn't really stop her from crying but it does sometimes put her in this weird daze. It does not help her sleep, in fact, it keeps her from sleeping and after a while, she is agitated until I turn it off. I'd say if you don't normally play music for your baby she or she may fall for this. I'd recommend just playing any CD that you currently own on repeat mode during naps. The point of playing music is so that when a baby re-enters the light sleep phase, normal sounds in the home don't startle and awaken her. If you feel that you must buy something specifically for your baby to hear, I recommend Woody Guthrie "Nursery Days" for your baby. It has become the soundtrack of our lives.

I'm in shock.
My 6 1/2 month old breastfed daughter was waking up every 2-3 hours (or more) for the last 2 1/2 months.I saw this CD, and thought, what the heck, it can't hurt.The first night I used it, she only woke up twice in the night for feedings, but other than that stayed in her crib almost 12 hours.During naptime the next morning, I fed her, put her in her crib (her eyes were open), let the music play, and 5 minutes later she was sound asleep.The second night, she slept without a peep from 9:00 to almost 3:00.Something must be working--I can't argue with this kind of success!

Works wonders...
We were given these CDs by the hospital when our infant daughter was ill and having trouble adjusting to nights at home after a long hospital stay.The heartbeat rhythm mixed with the music was very soothing, and we played these CDs every night to help our daughter get to sleep.(They even helped put us to sleep!)I recently purchased another set as a baby gift for a friend and would highly recommend them. ... If you want to turn your child off classical music forever, this CD may well do the job.
Could've been a 5-star if not for the heinous tracks
I'm bobbing my head up and down with the other reviewers about the obnoxious non-lullaby tracks thrown in on this CD. After burning a new CD and leaving those tracks off, the CD is great and one of my favorites.

Not too happy
I purchased this CD under the impression that it was all instrumental music - WRONG!Interspersed with rather lovely renditions of classical favorites -- perfect for bringing a baby to sleepyland -- are painfully perky upbeat vocal variations on a few traditional lullabies that have a tendancy to jar a baby awake!Rather antithetical to the purpose. ... Part of sleep routine
I started listening to this CD before my twin boys were born, so I could be able to sing along to all the songs when they arrived.Even if you're not a natural born singer, the songs are really catchy, with soothing arrangements that will calm a sleep deprived dad.

Best Lullaby CD!
All my kids have listened to this CD before bed each night. It's one of the few lalluby CD's which actually calms them to sleep.

Perfect for bedtime
I love this CD and have ordered several copies over the yearsto give to prospective parents.As a professional singer/musician, I appreciate the high quality of this music. The songs are lovely and do not get old after listening to it several times.(Which is what many new parents do when trying to put a baby to sleep!)Also, a book is available with the texts for those of you who want to sing along.

Must for new born
I just bought a second copy.The first one we played so much and worned out. We just had another baby hence need to buy one to help our little one to get to sleep peacefully.Recommended as gift for others too.

Works like a charm!
Someone gave me this cassette.I didn't think this recording would work as well as it does....now I can't live without it.When my infant son is cranky or won't go down to sleep easily, I put on these lullabies and he smiles and calms down.He drifts off to sleep to this music very often.I am buying the CD for the car -- it's that good.

Weakest of the three
I found this to be the weakest by far of the three SSfB CDs.I recommend either Vol 1 or 2 (four stars) before this volume.

Scott? Sounds like Brian Eno!!
"Little miss echo" sounds as if it could have come off of one of Brian Eno's ambient albums. The same sensibility of slowly shifting synth tones is here. The pieces in this series vary from incredibly ahead of their time to witty (toy typewriter) to merely annoying. The fact that they were made in the early 60's shows what an original thinker Scott was. A tip: I first listened to this series on a small boombox. That was a mistake. When I played it on my main stereo system with my amps spread throughout my house, the effect was surrealistic and mindbending.

"Little Miss Echo"will cure insomnia.
This is the third and final in the series, and the highlight is "Little Miss Echo". I've fallen into a relaxing sleep many times listening to the hypnotic repeating background and dreamy sounding melody of this spacious sounding song. It's even more relaxing than "Lullaby" from volume 1. The other songs are not bad but, "Little Miss Echo" is the real reason to own this. I purchased all three CDs and I love some of the tracks and I'm not so thrilled with others. I could definately take volumes 1, 2 and 3 and edit them into one very enjoyable CD. ... Read more
