5-0 out of 5 stars The perfect gift for families with children
I learned about Elizabeth Mitchell and this album in a recent interview on NPR (October, 2006).They interviewed Elizabeth, her husband and their 5-year-old daughter and aired a few live performances.I fell in love with this family and their music instantly.I was instantly transported back to the days my mother used to sing with me.These are beautiful perfomances of heirloom quality childrens songs that are certain to leave a lasting impression on everyone in the family.I am getting ready to order a bunch of copies to have on hand for Christmas gifts and baby showers.

5-0 out of 5 stars My new favorite CD - oh, and our kids love it, too!
My family and I LOVE Elizabeth Mitchell... in a big way. So when I say that this new CD is my favorite, it's not something I say lightly. But it's true - and it's not just my new favorite Elizabeth Mitchell CD - it's my favorite CD period. Why?It's just fantastic. The songs are beautiful, simple, nostalgic, fun, full of character, love, warmth and magic. It's Elizabeth Mitchell at her best - with just her voice and guitar and husband and child accompanying her.Simple and perfect.
4-0 out of 5 stars Curious listings...
Beautiful country-harmonies sung by reallly-tone-tight adults and not-so-tone-tight children (Peace Like a River is my favorite) releases all complexity and brings these songs to their ultimate core: Everybody should be singing these songs! Whether you're a nightingale or a crow, the song itself will keep your performance together ...if you partner with 'a voice' --like Elizabeth's: Her voice is of course what keeps it all together, but the real pearls of this album really are the ones almost ruined by the kids -- they'll do anything you say (upto a certain age) you know...?

Editorial Review

Grown-ups, gather your wits about you and repair to a different room: The Kidz Bop gang has returned for yet another installment, and if you think your 7-year-old has already had enough of the high-energy vocal flim-flamming, well, guess again. No self-respecting second-grader can resist a custom recasting of Daniel Powter's infectious "Bad Day." Ditto that where Madonna's "Hung Up" is concerned. Most appealing of all, though, may be the kiddification of the ballads: here's a rendition of Kelly Clarkson's "Because of You" that sounds ready-made for basement karaoke, or at least an electrifying lip sync into a hairbrush. And James Blunt's ever-popular "You're Beautiful" somehow takes on a tinge more urgency when it is sung, as it is here, by a chorus of chirpy-voiced, spaniel-eyed little admirers. Though the series is an easy target for cranky, musically discriminating adults, they should lay off. If not for the Bop (that won't stop), when would they find time to seal themselves off with the latest "NOW" disc? Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars ***Parents Be Alerted***
I purchased this album for my kids (6 + 4.5) and just assumed that it was child friendly because it is Kidz Bop and kids sing on the album.BUT I was wrong. On the last song #18 Don't forget about us.Half way through the song there is a line that was never altered for kids. The line states "b**tch don't do it like me, she'll never be MC.." Um hello! This is KIDZ BOP..... Needless to say I tried to contact the company but to no avail....Buyers be aware.... For the sake of the kids that are growing up way too fast...

2-0 out of 5 stars Good product, s-l-o-w shipping!!!
Daughter loves the CD but Amazon took one month to deliver. That's unsatisfactory and I would have purchased elsewhere had I known.

1-0 out of 5 stars Ruining our children
I am a 23 yr old mother of a 2 1/2 yr old. Not only are these children HORRIBLE singers, but there is a reason that most parents don't let their children listen to the original songs... they teach them things they don't need to know. I thought this would be a "kids" version that would get rid of that stuff when I let a child I was babysitting put the cd on... and was appalled at how much they talked about sex and other innappropriate things for children. They didn't take that out!Children are exposed to that every day in our world now, telling them it is "normal" and "ok".Parents have a big enough job to teach their children right and wrong with the way the world is today. It becomes a much harder job when you give them something that is for "kids" that teaches them that those things are "normal".They assume if it is ok for a kids cd, it can't be that bad.I think this is horrible and would never spend a penny on it for a child! Some of the songs I like in the originial version and do listen to, and this CD has ruined them! But when it comes to children who are too young to understand that it is just a song and doesn't mean what they say is ok... I think it is the WORST thing you could buy for your child! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not real music!
I bought this for our baby and like many of the reviewers, I was disappointed in the synthesized music.I have played some of the pieces, and although the concept is good, I want my child to hear music as it was on intended on the real instruments.

5-0 out of 5 stars Musician Mom Loves - Does Use RealInstruments!
My 8-month-old son and I listen to this CD every night, and by the Pachelbel Canon (track 7) he's usually sound asleep. It is NOT ALL SYNTHESIZER.The jacket clearly states that the "Music Box Orchestra" includes flute, piano, cello, percussion, english horn, and oboe.As a musician, I am not offended by the "easy-listening" versions of these classics. In fact, I enjoy them. They introduce my son to the timeless melodies WITHOUT OVERSTIMULATING HIM at bedtime.I find them relaxing too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great lullaby cd!
I love all the Baby Einstein products & this is my favorite cd so far!My 10 week old son loves it & we listen to it while I'm feeding him & when I'm rocking him to sleep. The music is very soothing for baby and mom. We bought this album and You Are My Flower at the same time, and we love both albums.Elizabeth Mitchell has a wonderful voice, and there is an eclectic quality in song choices and arrangements to keep the listener interested. My kids love hearing the kids on the background of the songs, too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just great!
Chock full of enjoyable songs. You'll probably love it as much as your baby! Really, there's only one song we don't like very much.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun kids' music
The first time I heard Baby Beluga, I thought it was a sweet song, and one that I could listen to repeatedly without wanting to throw myself off a cliff. Both thoughts have turned out to continue to be true, and I know because my 2 yr old has insisted on listening to "Bee-looga!" over and over and over again. My husband and I happily sing along with Raffi on this and all the songs on the CD, and I have never once regretted introducing it to my family.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the greatest albums of all time
Time and again, Raffi proves and reproves his songwriting prowess as well as his ability to reinvent himself with each record. Let me tell you, this record is no different. Naysayers would have you believe this album is a pretentious, even masturbatory, mesh of children's music cliches, but one needs to look no further than the opening track to see this is simply not true. The song, Baby Beluga, opens to the sound of whales communicating amongst each other. This ambiance is broken almost too soon by Raffi's commanding voice, as he belts out the oh-so-familiar lyrics to a song we all know and love. Other tracks worthy of noting include "Kumbaya" and first single "This Old Man", which features Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters) on drums. All in all, this is a VERY solid record and one of the greatest children's albums of all time. ... Read more

We love this CD.The songs ring true even today - how important peace is, how we should treat our fellow man, how what we do effects everyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars A "Must Have" for Peter, Paul and Mary Fan's
I would like to Thank Amazon.com for carrying this CD, as it has many of the songs I listened to during my childhood along with some new songs. This is a great selection of songs from Peter, Paul and Mary it has some of my favorite songs Lemon Tree, 500 Miles, Puff the Magic Dragon and Stewball just to name a few.So if you are a "Peter, Paul and Mary Fan" you will want to purchase this CD as you won't be disappointed, you'll be glad you made the purchase as it will be a great addition to your CD collection!
5-0 out of 5 stars Enduring Legacy
Peter, Paul and Mary harken me back to a time when there was hope and trepidation.Whenever I hear their music I get misty eyed and it takes me to a place where there was a crackle in the air, the place of my youth where Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Donovan, Billy Preston (bless his soul)and all of the music that defined that era was awash with hope, anger, love and the possibility that we would change the world.I love them and listening to them now just re-inforces how good they were and how pertinent they were to their time and, to this day, endure and leave a wonderful legacy. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great album
We like the album a great deal. It wasn't a big hit at first, but the songs grew on us. Our baby likes to bounce to the hippity hop song and others. It is a mix of classics (Mahna Mahna and Rainbows) and some new ones. A good variety.

Gold assembled a handful of knowns and unknowns to make special cameos on this melodic and fun collection of original and classic Halloween tunes with a pop-rock bent. Among the haunted are David Cassidy, Karla Bonoff, Linda Ronstadt, Stephen Bishop, Nicolette Larson, and Gold's children and wife. From the Beatlesesque touches of "It Must Be Halloween" (parts seemingly lifted from "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite") to Boris Karloff's "Monster Mash" and "The Addams Family" theme song, Gold and company offer up treats that kids and their parents will like, including the "Ghostbusters" theme. But with cooler original fare like "The Creature from the Tub" and "Spooky, Scary Skeletons," you have to wonder why they relied on so many predictable cover songs. Read more

If you were a kid in the 1970s', chances are you had a copy of this little gem.FREE TO BE YOU AND ME was created by Marlo Thomas as a teaching tool for children.Filled with great songs and comedy bits from a galaxy of stars, the album teaches gentle lessons about sharing, self-belief and tolerance.

Editorial Review

With each new Dan Zanes and Friends release, many fans worry that his homespun magic will eventually hit the right note with the masses. Zanes' music, as offbeat as it is organic, is so special to forward-thinking young families that plenty have batted around half-baked plans to attach a password to it. Anybody else can sell out, the thinking goes, but please, please not him. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good, but not the best
This is our newest addition to our Dan Zanes collection. My girls like it a lot. As usual, it contains a lively collection of folk tunes and original songs, all of which entertain kids without making their parents' ears bleed. Overall, this isn't our favorite Zanes collection; a few of the songs are a little boring. However, there are a few real standouts on this CD. My kids love Choo Choo Ch'Boogie, Walkin' the Dog, and Grey Goose, and they've both spent the last few weeks belting out I Don't Want Your Millions Mister (and even making up their own words, like "I don'twant your cooties sister...."). You can explain the context of some of these folks songs to your kids if you want, or just let them enjoy the music. The CD comes packaged with a nice booklet the kids like to look at in the car.

4-0 out of 5 stars worth the money
My daughter loves this cd.So for that fact alone it is worth it.I guess my only complaint is that some of the songs are not really geared to kids. She likes track #2, #13 the best and they are great songs I like and great for kids - a shaking song and a walk the dog song. Some of the other songs are kinda boring for her.But she likes it and it keeps her from screaming so - it is worth it!And it doesn't make me crazy - like some of the other child music out there.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it!
My 2 year old daughter and I listen to this cd just about everyday.I have introduced so many people to this folky/funky music and they enjoy it too. It is a big hit in our house! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars EDUCATIONAL!!!On a whole new level!
As the mother of two (ages 3 & 5), I have heard all the same kid's music 9 MILLION times! What a difference! This CD has my two kids learning great vocabulary not to mention asking questions about the animals included in the songs and tons of other things that give me the opportunity to teach them cool facts. The variety of musical styles from jazz to swing to folk encourage my kids to enjoy musical diversity.I agree that the triplets song is a bit much but EVERY cd player I've ever seen has a skip button or you can just burn a copy without it!The rest is simply TOO GOOD to MISS!

1-0 out of 5 stars John has very poor taste
Generally harmless, except for one very offensive song about siblings that hate each other and hate their parents. The song is probably funny to ultra-sophisticated, cynical adults. But the song is totally inappropriate for a four year old.I wouldn't bring this CD into your house.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this CD ! A must for kids !
I discovered this CD by mistake (though I've always loved John Lithgow's brand of humor). It's on Yahoo Music and I enjoy listening to the zany lyrics and upbeat tempo. Unlike some of the other people who've written reviews, I think the Triplets song (from The Band Wagon) is one of the smartest songs and has a unstoppable rhythm that makes you want to hear it again and again. Other hits like "Codfish Ball" and "Skin" will leave you humming the tunes for hours afterwards.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Grief Charlie Brown! It's May! Put the Christmas Music Away!
I can't believe it's late May and here I am listening to A Charlie Brown Christmas that I just got in from an Amazon seller in anticipation of this upcoming Christmas season... but like most people my age, it's almost the definitive icon of Christmas memories no matter what the actual season may be.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing
I loved it! It has all of my favorite music from all of my favorite Disney movies: The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion King! Although I have to say I didn't recognize some of the older songs and don't really jump for joy when some of the Mary Poppins songs play, I still really love this classic Cd set!

3-0 out of 5 stars Classic Disney: 60 Years of Musical Magic
This CD set covers songs issued only before year 2000. If a song has more than one version(sang by two different singers), this CD set only include the less famous or popular one.It is good to have this CD set but it is not the best Disney CD sets in the market.
