Best of SchoolHouse Rock! Audio CD: Original titles from orignial recordings. Also recommended for those car rides where you can sing along with your kids. My oldest has not been exposed for a week yet, but already can sing several in parts. Rating: 4.5/5
Schoolhouse Rock STILL Rocks!
I loved it as a kid, and now my kids love it -- they're going into 2nd grade and kindergarten soon, so neither has any real understanding of government, grammar, etc., but they sing along with most of the songs, and I think when they start to learn these things in school, the songs will make it easier for them.They're fun, they're catchy -- sure there are a few favorites that aren't there, but almost all the other ones will keep you humming through your day :)

LOVE THIS CD
My daughter and I listen to this CD every night before bed time.I have my favorite songs and she and I dance around and listen to the beat.I sing the songs and she's learning them (she's 2).We have a great time listening to this CD and she listens to the characters talking or singing.It's a plus for every child who loves the Sesame Street characters, including Mommies & Daddies.

I bought this C.D. when my daughter was 16 months and she loved it from the start! She's now 2 and still wants it every time we get in the car. Every song is wonderful. Of course she has her favorites; Monster Song-"Wubba, wubba" she calls it or Hands, Shoulders, Knees,... As the months have past the request have changed to Oscar's trash song or Big Bird's Ab-c-def-i. Now our entire play group has the C.D. and we all find ourselves singing along or quoting lyrics. None of the kids can get enough of it. You'll find yourself singing the tunes in the shower too. It has all the songs I remember as a child growing up in the 70's. I'm so happy to share it with her. Nostalgia for Gen Xers
Sometimes, covers of old songs and attempts to modernize old childhood favorites just fall flat. This isn't one of those times.
I prefer the original artists
I bought this by mistake thinking the songs were performed by the original artists. I think you can only hear the originals by getting the dvd. I was pretty bummed at first but my child loves this. My only complaint is that you can't understand all of the words so some of the educational value of the songs is lost.

I laughed I cried, I give it four stars
Making a cover album is difficult, you'll almost never please the purists who loved the original. Putting together a compilation CD with various artists adds the problems of uneveness in style and talent. Do do all this with School House Rock songs seems really hard. To review this CD is almost as hard. Most of us of "age" loved these songs when our musical tastes ran more toward Sesame Street (or insert your tastes here, the point is our tastes have evolved). The fact that so many people still like these songs is a testament to the originals.

Always fun favorites!
I was happy to turn in my record and get this on CD. Many old favorites that the children continue to love!

great movement activities for children 2-6
I am a children's yoga and movement teacher and I ordered this CD to help add variety to my lessons.The music is fun, the movement activites are varied and do-able for even very young children and the songs are an appropriate length.

This is the album our daughter (now 26) remembers more than any other when she was a toddler.Her preschool had it, and when she began singing the songs from it nonstop, we got the tape.

Fun, Upbeat CD
My 10 month old son loves this CD. He doesn't really watch Sesame Street yet but he loves the Sesame Beginnings DVD's so I bought some CD's for him to listen to at home and in the car. He loves the Elmo one, he pulls himeself to stand and bops his little behind! A great CD for your baby, toddler and preschooler.

My 20 month old wants to listen to this album exclusively.If we put onother CDs or tapes, even other Sesame Street music with other voicessinging, she says "Elmo.Elmo.Elmo" until that wonderful,high-pitched voice comes through the speaker.It really is quite funny tohear Elmo singing everything.I've heard this CD a few hundred too manytimes.We need a new Elmo compilation.A definite favorite of ourdaughter's and her Elmo-loving friends. ... fantastic set of cd's
while it is true that a lot of this music has already been released on other sesame street cd's, this is a wonderful collection of songs.we keep them in our car & our boys (ages 3 & 1) love to hear them over & over again.with 3 different cd's to listen to, that's a lot of music without repeats.while i don't think that some of the newer stuff with guest artists measures up to the older songs, there's enough to keep everyone happy.

Great Variety of Music
The CD contains a little bit of everything, but all songs familiar to my daughter.

A Must for All Ages!!!
My 3 month old loves to listen to all types of music. I am a working mother, so when I pick him up at daycare, I have chores that need to be done when I get home.I put this CD in, and it keeps my son happy and occupied while he listens to Elmo and his friends.I play this CD over and over again! It is fantastic since most of the songs are ones I grew up with, and I know the words, so he can hear my voice singing along. I don't think it's great but my kid loves it!
Some of the accents are terrible and there is FAR more English than Spanish (the songs sung by Elmo and Rosita are a little painful to listen to!).BUT, my daughter (3) loves it.When our first copy was stolen out of our car, she asked for it so many times that I had to go out and get another one.Still, if you really want your child to be exposed to Spanish I think there are better options.

Awesome CD
I need to buy another one of these CDs because mine is worn out! I teach Spanish to preschoolers(2-5)and they love these songs. The lyrics are fun to sing and it's great for dancing. This has been the best bilingual CD for kids that I've found so far.

Excellent children's intro to Spanish
This is a standard play in our home. My kids LOVE the way the character's repeat each Spanish sentence after Luis, Bob, Maria and the Muppets.The songs are catchy and infectious. We love to listen to this one in the afternoon, and after a lively session of sing along and dancing, it's off for naptime!Buy the video too, it's fun and festive and will give your little ones a taste of Spanish culture. On the other side of sesame Street:
A brilliant CD for children, and adults alike. I got this CD, because one of the kids I babysit LOVES singing along with the sesame street videos, so I figured he would enjjoy dancing and singing along to the CD aswell. I was right! He loves singing along to all the classic sesame songs, and I love singing along too! Makes me remember my days as a little girl when I sang the same songs! Very cute. Kids of all ages will get a kick out of this CD. =)

I nearly cried as I listened to some of the samples of this great cd. I had forgotten some of the beautiful sesame street classic tunes like "Me" sung by Grover and "Imagination" sung by Kermit. This is a great album to give to your kids if you want them to develop a healthy self image and a good imagination. I think preschool and kindergarten teachers would do their students a favor by purchasing and playing any classic Sesame St. music. I am so grateful my parents let my siblings and I watch only positive tv shows and listen to positive music.

Platinum Too, Platinum's companion
Where would Platinum be without Platinum Too? This cd is great fun for the whole family. It is so easy to be silly when one of the Sesame Street cds is on. It is great at home, but really great in the car on long road trips. A great buy, [for any age :)] Highly recommended by "torri'smom" who once was a Sesame Street kid herself.

great four any age
I have a twenty-two month old and a six month old.They both smile, bounce and dance when I put this c.d. on. The tunes are pleasent and fun. The older child sings some of the words during the call and reponse. I like it and the children seem to love it.

Simply the best!
Both of my granddaughters, ages 2 and 5, love this CD and ask for it in the car more often than Sesame Street. The tunes are really catchy and easy to remember. And every song teaches something, from rhythm, to numbers, to vowels and alliteration. Just a great CD!

One little gem!
I've used Hap Palmer's music in my pre-k and kindergarten classes for many years.This year I moved to first grade, and having such a huge selection of Hap's music, (nearly all of it on LP's!) that I hadn't thought to add to my collection until I happened to get a copy "One Little Sound, Fun with Phonics and Numbers" at the beginning of this school year. Very Entertaining!
My son has just become a huge Sesame Street fan, but I didn't want to constantly plop him in front of the tv to give him his "Elmo" fix, so I decided to buy him this CD.I was hoping it would help him laugh, dance, and have fun with the characters without zoning out at the screen.And it has!He loves the CD and likes dancing along...especially to Happy Tappin' With Elmo.
My kids Favorite (i like it too!)
I bought this for a car trip when all we had was a cassette player about 4 years ago.My kids love it so much that the tape is worn out and i need to buy the CD.Some Elmo cd's can get a little annoying when played over and over (Elmo's high pitched voice is a little grating at times) but this one has enough variety that it does't bother me. It's really fun to dance to!

Great for Toddlers!
I bought this for my almost 2 year old son and my 3 year old daughter.They love it!It makes them dance and move around.Some of the songs they already know from Seasame Street and Play With Me Seasame but there are also songs they haven't heard before.I like it because it has a good variety of songs and it doesn't drive me crazy to hear it again and again.It has also been great to keep them entertained and having fun in the car as well as at home. ... One of the best young children's CDs!
My almost 4 year old is a huge Hap Palmer fan, and it's catching on to me.Just listen to one of his CDs, and you'll understand.This one in particular is great.I love how he makes beloved children songs even better.I never thought I'd be just as happy to hear a children's CD as one of my own, but this is so catchy, and it is priceless hearing my young daughter singing along to the words!It's great for her memory skills, remembering and singing to all the songs, and it's great for her learning rhyme and rhythm.The lyricshe adds are sooo fun and cathy and sweet.I love this guy!

Great Kid Tunes
I bought this for my daughter, who is two, and my older kids love it as much as she does.Easy to remember lyrics and catchy tunes make this a great cd to listen to.

Great music, great twist
If standard kid's tunes play in your house or car all day long, you will love this refreshing cd and your kid's won't miss a beat.I don't understand the 2 star review.If you don't like something, that's fine.But the reviewer's logic is very skewed in that they said it didn't meet their expectations, even though 1) The cd was a gift, and 2) The title of the cd tells you that it's not an album of "to-the-letter" standards.So if you don't like the music or your child doesn't like it, fine.But don't rate it down because you had ridiculous expectations from something you didn't even want or buy.If you are open-minded and enjoy good, fun, music you will love this.There is varied musical accompaniment and Hap sings great and truly seems to feel the music (unlike most performers of children's standards).Of course, the ultimate critic is the child.My daughter LOVES thiscd (she's 21 months old now and has been listening to it since 12 months).Again, if you want standard kid songs, you may be disappointed with this because the music and words are different (usually, each song starts in a traditional manner but then non-standard lyrics and music follow).But if you want a twist without leaving the traditional songs altogether, buy this.I don't think you will be disappointed. ... The Most Simple Exercise Songs For Young Children From Bobby Susser
I have three day care centers in Florida where music and exercise are favorites in the curriculum for my little children. This collection of very simple songs and exercises is just that. It shows, through the repetition of catchy lines, that Bobby Susser is very aware of children's needs. Susser knows that when he hits upon something catchy for the kids and through his repetition of lyrical and musical phrases, not to let up, giving the kids just what they want. He doesn't give them too much, but enough so they are thoroughly interested, satisfied, and enthusiastic. He knows when to keep going, and when to let up. For those of you who work with kids, you know the importance of repetition. Bobby Susser has mastered repetition of very catchy sections of songs he's created and in doing so, holds children's interest, gives them a heck of a good time, and teaches them all at the same time. I majored in preschool education and music, and believe me, Bobby Susser is a subtle master at teaching through his simple, catchy, songs with repetetive phrases written especially for little ones.

The Benchmark Exercise Album For Young Children
While B.B. King is the benchmark guitarist for playing the blues, Ray Charles, the benchmark singer for combining soul and gospel music, Barbra Streisand the benchmark vocalist for her range and clarity, Paul Simon, the benchmark singer/songwriter for telling his stories in song format, and Bob Dylan, the benchmark singer/songwriter for using unique phrases and the delivery of them, Bobby Susser's album "Wiggle Wiggle And Other Exercises" is undoubtedly the benchmark album for original songs for young children to exercise to. It is very obvious, after seeing the children respond immediately to the simple rhythms, friendly vocal deliveries, and all the fun and easy to learn songs that convey the importance of exercise, good health habits, having fun, and incorporating these ideas into your daily routine at an early age, Bobby Susser knows how to make the very most of a song, and a simple 'Wiggle' for young children like noone else I've heard in the nineteen years I've taught little children.

Can't rave enough about the Imagination Movers!!!!!!
Five stars are not enough to express how much we love the Imagagination Movers (known in our home as the "IM's").My five-year-old son listens to their music over and over and over, knows all the lyrics, and has memorized which song is which number on the CD.Meanwhile, my 2-year-old daughter is rapidly catching up and sings and dances around the house, in the car, and anytime in between ("Mommy, 'Magination Movahs" she announce when we heard "I Want my Mommy" playing in a children's store recently).As others may have mentioned, the real magic in this CD is ultimately that the musical style of the Imagination Movers appeals to the Mommy and Daddy generation as well, and not only will you be willing to listen again and again with your enthusiastic youngster, but you may find yourself listening on your own one day!Finally, I must also add that my son has decided that instead of being a doctor like Daddy, his life goal now is to become an Imagination Mover.Buy this CD for yourself and many for gifts -- the music is contagious and bound to be a big hit!!!

Fun for all ages
We used to play the tape 10 years ago for our kids when the were younger.We came across the tape recently and played it for an adult friend.He found it extremely catchy and humorous (as we did back in the day), so we are ordering the CD so we can share the fun.

good but difficult to understand sometimes
it's hard to understand sometimes when Elmo speaks with his baby voice and the way he sings. My kids keep asking what he said.. all the time. may be need to take some time to get used to it.

My son and I love it
I bought this CD for my son's 2nd birthday.He likes it (especially Elmo) and I like it.There is a songor story for each letter, they are all different, and they are all fun.I'm not tired of hearing this yet. The tunes are catchy, but I guess they could drive you nuts when they are stuck in your head.

Awesome flashback CD!
I LOVED Bert and Ernie when I was a kid, my best friend and I always said I was Bert and she was Ernie! But this CD is fun and happy just as they were on the show. I especially loved the Patty Pat song bc it's very fast and cute for the kids. My son loves listening to these CDs and he's only 10 mos old! Great buy for your baby, toddler and preschooler (and the kid in you!)

Not the favorite cd
This has some cute songs, but is not our most requested Sesame Street cd.It can get annoying when played over and over, but the kids seem to enjoy most of the songs.

i had this album when i was a little kid!
this is a great album! i want a horse was one of my favorite songs when i was little. actually looking at the release date, i was born 2 months after this album came out... i have great memories of dancing around to all of these songs and singing the final, "in harmony" song, probably out of harmony but that's okay. the pajamas song as well as the doobie brothers, wynken, blynken and nod make me feel like a kid again. you simply must buy this album! it's great!

ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE FOR EVERY CHILD
Almost 30 years ago we owned the original on vinyl for our daughter.It was the favorite album of our entire family.Of course,Kate's favorite song was "I Want A Horse" because she lived,breathed & dreamed of horses. When CDs entered the scene I purchased one & continue listening to it on a regular basis."Wynken,Blynken & Nod" remains,hands down my favorite. Our 8 month old grandson has yet to tell us his favorite; he's still listening daily & deciding.Tonight's purchase will be my 4th in one month -- every time someone in my life has a baby this is the ONLY gift I consider giving.If you can only have one piece of music THIS is the CD to buy.

A fond childhood memory
As I child I was given this record by my parents.I loved the James Taylor song "Jelly Man Kelly" however I had forgotten all about this great album until recently.A friend of mine who has a 3 year old had passed on some old VHS tapes to me for my 18 month old daughter because her daughter had outgrown them.One of which was the Sesame Street 'Sing Yourself Silly'.The other night I popped it in to entertain my daughter while we fixed dinner when suddenly I hear the all too familiar sound of James Taylor strumming a guitar and singing "Here's a story 'bout Jelly Man Kelly..He loves jelly the most...".The next thing I knew I was singing along! I was amazed- and my father more so- that I still remembered the words. I was pleased to see my daughter dance and sing "Ohhhhhhh" at the top of her lungs when the children sing the chorus "Ohhhh Jelly can he come?".I took it as a sure sign that she would love these songs just as much as I did.I hope one day she will hear these songs and remember how fun they were to sing not only as a child but how they are still fun to sing as an adult. ... We weren't thrilled
There wasn't enough music on this CD.We wanted more songs to sing along with and less repeat songs and blank space for us to sing our parts.....

sentimental favorite
I was so excited when I found this cd on amazon today.I had been looking for it for years.I didn't know the artist, but I did remember it was a red cd with a song that went "You sing a song and I'll sing a song in warm or wintry weather." My brother and I heard this cd in preschool over and over again and loved it. It is cherry and simple- not a ton of instruments (mainly a guitar) and not tons of kids screaching at the top of their lungs.I can't see this cd driving any parent crazy. I also fondly remember the song "Miss Mary Mac".Parents, get this for your preschoolers.They will love it.

You Sing a Song
