This CD is fabulous. It was played for my grandson every night for about 2 1/2 years and now he is in his 2nd year of violin instruction....he also is a very good hockey player!
5-0 out of 5 stars Revolutionary
How do these guys expect to be taken seriously by calling this thing BEATLES FOR BABIES and then leaving off a version of 'Revolution #9'?It isn't as if there wasn't enough room, for crying out loud.

1-0 out of 5 stars Yuck!!!!
Yet another desicration of Beatles music to line Micheal Jackson's pockets. Why can't they just hire someone to write little songs for babies? It's not like the kid came and said why I think that I would like to listen to a crappy remake of the Beatles this evening. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great CDs
These cds have all the songs that I grew up with and some new ones too.I love them, and I'm sure my 9 week old son will learn to love them too.

5-0 out of 5 stars grandpapasan
This is a good one. The music accompanies the children and does not drown them out.

5-0 out of 5 stars My kids love it; good deal
This set isn't half as good as A Holly Jolly Christmas For Kids, also sold here at amazon, but it has its own virtues to deserve a five star from me.The children choir's and the recording quality are acceptable but not wonderful like A Holly Jolly Christmas For Kids. However, the three volumes are each over an hour long.Since my kids don't go to Sunday school, the list of hundred songs covers every Sunday school song I want them to learn. My 3 year old and 5 year old always want to listen to these CDs and don't seem to get tired of it no matter how many times they listen.I get tired of it but I just play them in their rooms so that I don't have to listen to it.It works out well, and definite a good deal for the money.A Holly Jolly Christmas For Kids, on the other hand, is delightful to listen to by both me and my kids. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A positive message that transcends time!
I grew up watching this in elementary school and thought my very precocious 3 year old daughter might enjoy it. I was right. She was glued from start to finish and loves the songs! It is a little heavy on the peace, love & equality(it was the 70's,after all)but overall it's an entertaining collection of songs and stories with a very positve message that is certainly relevant today.

5-0 out of 5 stars A message that still needs to be heard
I listened to this when I was a kid and loved it.I bought it for my children and although they are still pretty young, I am hoping the messages contained therein seep into their little heads. This should be required listening for everyone! It is just as relevant today as it was in 1972!A little groovey- a little folksy but just great.

4-0 out of 5 stars Free to Be You and Me CD
The Free to Be You and Me TV special was one of my childhood favorites, as was this album.(I actually still have the vinyl album my mom bought for me 30 years ago!)I introduced my 4 year-old daughter to the video, and she immediately fell in love with the soundtrack. So I purchased this CD for her and it has become the only thing she wants to listen to during any car ride. The only thing that is disappointing to me is that not all of the songs are exactly the same as what is on the video... not that they aren't good, they're just not the same. While my daughter doesn't seem to mind, I have to admit I prefer the versions on the video. There are a lot of extras on the CD that aren't on the video as well, which is a bonus.Overall, this is a great CD to own if your child loves the video/DVD. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars It stays with them...
I enjoyed reading the reviews of parents whose kids have recently discovered "Classical Kids." I'm about to order the boxed set for my kids, ages 21, 19 and 16 because the nineteen-year-old, who has a college radio show and loves a wide variety of music, remembers this series (then only on cassette) with great affection and wants to hear them again. Those of you wondering whether it's worth it or not to try to introduce kids to classical music this way, be assured it works. We've turned one of Mr. Bach's lines into a family "saying:" "the more you study, the more you know; the more you know, the more you appreciate; the more you appreciate, the more you love." A great series!

5-0 out of 5 stars It all started with Beethoven
Many years ago I purchased my first CD in this series, "Beethoven Lives Upstairs." My children and I were delighted with it. I then discovered that there were more and searched them all out, one by one. My children, now 11, 9 & 5, have listened to these stories as they fall asleep for years. They each have a favorite composer and have gone on to learn more about them. These stories are a great introduction to some of our greatest composers. Not to mention a good intro to history, too!1-0 out of 5 stars Not What I expected
I love the idea, but I don't want to expose my children to the stories in these cd's.They contain children talking back to their parents, disrespectful language, sorcery, etc.If you don't like Harry Potter, you won't like these CD's. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars isso e que o papai faz 'pra nene nanar-this is the key to making baby sleep!
This CD has been in my daughter's CD player now since I bought it.She even starts to sing the title song 'nene nanar' before dozing off.The lyrics are magical and the music has enough variety to match any pre-sleeping hyperness. In my opinion, this is the best children's music CD I've purchased to date.
5-0 out of 5 stars excellent lullaby CD
This is my favorite of the world lullaby CD's available at babiesrus.com.I like all of the songs on the CD.My baby also seemd to enjoy the nice melodies and fun sounds that he hears on some of the tracks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great lullabies!
I love this CD, although I have to admit that I am biased.I registered for this CD because my mother is from Brazil and I wanted my son to hear some Brazilian music, and I just love Brazilian music anyway.Well, a friend bought this for me for our baby shower and it turns out my first cousin wrote and performed two of the songs!!I had no idea!(She is a musician, but I was surprised to randomly stumble upon her songs on an album I got through Amazon.com.<:-)I also like the other songs too. They are all so nice and soothing. We'll be listening to this CD for a long time. And it's so great that my cousin can sing lullabies to my son! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Not What I was expecting
I was looking forward to giving this to my husband for his first Fathers Day and was expecting sweet mellow lullabies, I had to take it out of CD player after the 3rd song. We were extremely disappointed in this purchase

5-0 out of 5 stars Lovely for naptime and mellow-time.
I got this from our local library to test it out with my 15-month-old daughter -- my husband is a country & folk music fan, so I thought I'd get it for his benefit. But, after just two days, I returned it and raced to the store to buy it for MY benefit. The only other lullaby CD I've liked so strongly is Putomayo's "Dreamland." "Daddies Sing Goodnight" is a wonderful mix of music, some cowboy-ish, some bluegrass, some just folksy. "Sweet Baby James" is gorgeous, and "Long Timey Ago" always makes me get a little choked up. I'm surprised that one reviewer says the songs/voices are scary, as that hasn't been our experience -- in fact, we find this a great calming, happy CD for mellow times, not just for naptimes. We're getting to know the songs well enough to sing along, which just adds to the pleasure.

2-0 out of 5 stars scary songs
Based on other reviews I picked this cd for my 6 month old for something different than lullabys.Big mistake. The voices are so low and dark that he is scared of it.I use music in the car to calm him since I can't reach him in the back and this music just gets him more upset.Maybe he'll grow into it- for the price I paid I hope so- there are much less expensive collections he just loves. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Radio Disney: Kid Jams
I love the music on this CD because it takes popular music and makes it suitable for children... a very fun and festive selection of songs! Kids love it too!

4-0 out of 5 stars I would buy this for my nieces..
The track listing on here is fairly good, with Steve Vai, James Brown, and many other popular performers (hopefully after hearing these musicians, my nieces will begin to find less worthy children's "music" such as Kidz Bop as musically tedious and unsatisfying as the rest of my family does, and I admit that, even as a 27 year old woman I have recently found myself tuning into Radio Disney (to become familiar with and "hip to" what my nieces like and listen and actually enjoying much of what I hear. Much of what is on this CD and channel appeals to adults and children alike, making them so much better than so much other "family" music. I recommend this to anyone who has kids in their lives, as this music remains totally appropriate, but is not watered-down "kiddie" music that talks down musically to your kids.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kids 5 to 10 agree it's great

2-0 out of 5 stars Not the disco I remember!
I grew up in the 70's and love the music. That is why I bought this CD for my kids. The first comment I have is that I have never even heard of 3 of the songs: "Oops Up Side Your Head", "Best Disco in Town" and I.O.U.I thought they would come back to me when I heard them, but they didn't!The second comment I have is that I was disappointed that Y.M.C.A was not sung by the original singers and neither was Brand New Key.The people who did sing them did not do them well.On a positive note, I enjoyed Disco Duck by Rick Dees and That's the Way I Like it by KC & the Sunshine Band.I'm still not sure what KC meant by that, though, so maybe it's not the greatest for kids??I think for the money this CD cost, maybe just an adult CD of disco music would have been just fine. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Poor production value
I am not a spanish speaker, so perhaps that influences this review. The music (asside from the singing) on this album is poorly done. It sounds like someone sat down with a synthesizer and drum rythm kit and just played the songs. It seems to lack a certain depth that a high production album would have. The singing (by children) is fine, of course; it sounds like kids singing. Because it is a group, the words aren't as clear as I would like. It is inexpensive, so it is worth the money, but it isn't wonderful.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent CD
I love this CD! It reminds me of my childhood and I hope it will do the same for my child. No lyrics on CD but I managed to find the lyrics online [...]

4-0 out of 5 stars No printed lyrics!
I bought this CD for my son.The songs are traditional Spanish children's songs sung in Spanish. The music is fun and upbeat, but there are no printed lyrics included with the albulm.Since I don't know the words to the songs it makes it difficult to sing along.I wrote a letter to St. Clair Entertainment in Montreal asking them to please send me a copy of the lyrics, but I never got a reply. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Mad about the Madness
The recordings in this CD are creative re-interpretations of the original Dysney songs. My children and I were captivated by the familiarity, yet new apects of the songs as interpreted by the artists. It's nice to inject new life into old classics!

1-0 out of 5 stars Uninspired and boring
There's so much to be mined from Disney music, it's surprising there are not more remakes out there. This CD, however, is a fine example of how not to do it. Without exception, the tracks lack any inspiration, sense of reverence, or creativity. When L.L. Cool J's old-school rap version of Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf rates as the best song on the disc (and that's not saying much), things aren't looking good. Overwhelmingly, if you're looking for some genuinely creative and sincere reworkings of Disney tunes, pick up Stay Awake, and file this one under Stay Away.

4-0 out of 5 stars Simply Mad about this CD!
If you like reworkings of favorite Disney songs this collection is for you.It originally came out in 1991, but sounds as wonderful as ever!In fact I'm still listening to my copy. The songs on this collection I like, I really, REALLY like and the ones I don't care for I really, REALLY hate.Fortunately there are only two of the latter, Billy Joel's "When You Wish Upon A Star" (much too gruff sounding) and Michael Bolton's "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes" (as usual way too whiny for me). However the rest of the CD is truly inspired. The En Vogue medley of "Someday My Prince Will Come" and "One Song" accentuates the longing in the songs to great effect. The big band version of "Bare Necessities" by Harry Conick Jr. is terrific as is the ethereal "Siamese Cat Song" by Bobby McFerrin.LL Cool J, The Gypsy Kings and Ric Ocasek (from the Cars) just make you want to get up and groove with their songs. 5-0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly enjoyable
This is definitely not what I expected in a classical music tape, but still a surprisingly enjoyable to listen to.I bought it for my 4 year old who loves to listen to what he calls "kid's songs" and hoped that it wouldn't totally annoy my older children. This one is a winner, though, ALL the kids (ages 2 to 11) really like it.Bobby McFerrin's Music Box is really quite amazing and you appreciate his talent the more you listen to it (although I would never have guessed this was classical music.)The water music rendition is equally fun.My only complaint is that Gerald McBoing is waaaay too long, but still it fascinated the kids so I guess it's worth it!The variety of music contained on the tape keeps it fresh.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great intro for children to the world of classical music
There are lots of collections that introduce children to the wonders of Classical Music, but "A Child's Celebration of Classical Music" from the Music for Little People series has got to be one of the best. Most of the pieces of "child friendly" because they involve human narration: David Bowie doing "Peter and the Wolf," Meryl Streep doing "Sleeping Beauty," Carol Channing doing "Gerald McBoing Boing" and the wonderful Danny Kaye doing "Tubby the Tuba."But children will be equally fascinated with Bobby McFerrin doing "Music Box" with just the sounds coming out of his talent mouth and the Symfunny Orchestra doing Handel's "Water Music" on toy instruments, both of which are simply amazing to those of us who have trouble just humming along with a CD.The first piece, with Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops doing "In the Hall of the Mountain King" is the only traditionally done classical piece on this album. This album is an absolute joy and a nice introduction to the other CDs in this series.Besides, it is not like you have to still BE a kid to enjoy these CDs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!!!
Kids will eat this up! The selection of readers and singers are brilliant. Not only will the stories entertain children but they will learn from a young age that classical dosn't mean boring! Danny Kaye is one of my favorite people. His voice has always captured me somehow. I have seen my siblings listen in amazement to Boby McFerrin's amazing "voice". His portrayel of a music box is highly impressive. 5-0 out of 5 stars Still a favorite, years later...
Although this compilation is now over 15 years old, I still enjoy it as much as the day I bought it.An all-star lineup of jazz performers (plus B.B. King) deliver versions of the "Peanuts" music that are true to the original Guaraldi versions, but up to modern production standards. It's feel-good music throughout, and it'll have you smiling after just one or two tracks -- even Kenny G seems to have found some energy here!
5-0 out of 5 stars Jazz fans
I bought this CD for my husband not because he's a Charlie Brown fan but because the jazz selections are really spectacular.Top artists came together for this recording.Any jazz fan would find this CD very entertaining.

5-0 out of 5 stars :-)
I'm very happy to have found this cd. I was looking for the tracks of my favorite cartoon and luckly I've found it here.

Editorial Review

No fat cigar, not even Cuba's gorgeous sunsets, can register close on the sublimity scale to the country's lush, commercially unsullied music, something lots of folks discovered a few years back when a subtle loosening of regulatory strings let the brilliant, boundary-busting Buena Vista Social Club cross the shore. 4-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable to listento, but not for putting kids to sleep.
Our whole family loves listening to this CD.However, as you might be able to tell from the product description, the music starts off softly lulling children to sleep and then picks up the beat and volume in the later part. So, just when my kids were starting to relax-they suddenly felt like dancing. We solved the problem by using the feature on our CD player which allows us to pre-program only the songs we want for bedtime.Really a nice collection of songs.

4-0 out of 5 stars For sleeping yes, for spanish no
This album is beautiful and should certainly put your little one to sleep. Many of the songs have a kind of aching lonliness, and the musicianship is spectacular. Two cautions:
1-0 out of 5 stars Poor musical quality
We were very disappointed with the musical quality of the CD.The artist's command of pitch was lacking. ... Read more

Editorial Review

All too often the notion of creating webs of gentle sounds to help ease babies, toddlers, even children into sleep leads to overly synthetic musical concoctions. Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
While this collection is certainly a passable lullaby CD (the songs are soothing and gentle), the Mediterranean aspect of the disc is overplayed.
5-0 out of 5 stars sublime
The editorial reviews underline the gentleness of this cd, and that point cannot be overemphasized; too many so called lullaby cd's are really rousing happy versions of children's songs. But this music is wonderful, reflective, and very rooted in Mediterranean cultures. I feel as though grandmothers and grandfathers from each village are crooning their beautiful emotional songs to me & baby. This is the cd I put on every single night for the past 4 months while I breastfeed my baby to sleep. In the beginning, I would get so emotionally drawn into the music (combined with post-partum emotionality) that I would cry through the songs - especially tracks 5, 7 and 9; so beautiful! The liner notes make it easy to sing the syllables to these foreign languages. I'd say only one song approaches a slightly rousing lilting quality, but it's track 3, early on the cd, and it's still gently sung. I don't care much for track 10, the womens' voices are a little too shrill for my taste. The guitar pieces are all lovely. There's a sweet 'au clair de la lune' with the singer's young daughter providing a cute whispery high soprano. Two tracks are sung by male vocalists and are very droning and sleep inducing, I imagine the grandfathers softly crooning in old rocking chairs. It's really a cd you can float into, and away towards slumber.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very soothing and peaceful CD
I bought this CD for my daughter to help her relax when I lay her down. And so far it has done the job.I especially like the mix of music from around the mediterranean, the songs come from a variety of countries including Greece, France, Italy, Spain, Morocco, Lebanon, Israel, and Catalonia. All the songs are beautiful and calming.Basically a wonderful CD. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Just what kids like ...
The Camp Songs is just what KIDS like they're nice, gross, silly and more.My kids (8 & 5) love it because the words/songs are easy to remember and they get to sing-a-long.There are a few songs that I though is not appropriate for kids but they do not seem to even notice those.Like "Bring Back My Neighbors To Me" - a song about dead neighbors.
