Everything about this CD, from its eye-popping cool packaging to its beautiful booklet, is wonderful, perhaps peerless. It's a study that spans 16 countries, catching paeans to childhood sleep from varied traditions. The set traverses the Cape Breton Gaelic tradition with the Rankin Family, Haiti with pop stars Boukman Eksperyans, and the African continent with music from Tonga, Algeria, and Cameroon. Despite their distances from each other, at times the songs sound quite alike. Voices might begin alone but then gather into choral size, with a reliance on wordless passages to emphasize the flow of time as sleep encroaches. In execution, the surprises are many. Algerian Houria Aïchi sounds East Indian; the Traditional Japanese Music Ensemble of New York sounds poised somewhere between a stately concert of historical court music and a touching homage to childhood; and German singer Michelle sounds pop-music ready even as she toes the line on singing a sleep-triggering song. Beyond being a great collection of international music, this is probably the most interesting mix available of cultural voices approaching the issue of children sleeping. Read more

so-so sounds
This CD is okay, but has a number of high-pitched, almost whiny songs that aren't very soothing.It wasn't what I was expecting out of a lullaby CD.

It sure ain't heroin!
It may sound like harsh judgement but there were only two songs that intrigued me and that I could see someone using on a film score. But as a whole it really is a pretty mediocre and forgetable CD. It actually serves its purpose though as it can put you to sleep as well as any other lullaby but I was hoping for something that would serve me better as background music as I sit at this PowerBook. Bottom line: It's OK but it sure ain't Heroin!

Great for Kids and Moms too
When the kids start nagging in the car, I pop this CD in and the nags stop while the giggles and singing along start. Both my 18 MO daughter and my 3.5 year old son love it. My son loves to sing along with I"m different, Bottom of the Sea and Everybody Came and he sings "I'm different, different" all over the house on his own. I just love all of it and esp the Meow Meow song. This is great for lovers of modern rock and alternative pop. I guess you would be disappointed if you want mainstream stuff. I'd also like to recommend the Beatles Songs for Kids CD - I never would have thought that Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da would be such a hit with kids.

This one is even better than the first!!
I'm so in love with this CD and so are my kids. They are 3 and 5 y.o. and we all enjoy it equally. I prefer this one to the first For the Kids because it is quirkier and less typically "children's music". My kids love to sing the song "I'm Different" and they think the telephone song is knee-slappingly hilarious. My favorite is "Starfish & Coffee". Every song skipped
I was very unhappy with the CD. Every song skipped the entire cd. It is very confusing to try to listen to the ABC song when every few letters, the song skips to a later part of the alphabet. For $4, it was not worth paying to ship it back and try again.

My 16 month old granddaughter loves this CD.She knows a few of the songs and motions to go with them.When the music is on, she stops what she is doing and just sits and listens.

Very pleasant
I have seen better days in Radio Disney. But finally, this version of Radio Disney Jams is the best ever! (okay, and no. 5). It begins with Alyson and Amanda Joy Michalka with their song "Do You Believe In Magic"; that was previously heard on Disney Channel. B5 is featured with Mr. C's Cha Cha Slide and Rihanna's Pon De Replay. Disapointments here were Jesse McCartney and Crazy Frog's annoying as ever song. The Cheetah Girls have Shake a Tail Feather from Disney's Chicken Little, and Hilary Duff has Fly. Devo 2.0 and The Click Five also contribute to this CD.

It`s Pretty Good!
This collection was better than expected! It could have had a few better songs,but it's pleasing! It's not boring and money-wasting like the 7th one was!

This cd ROX! It's probably the best one yet, 7 was boring with bearly any good songs. But this one has those songs that when the dj on Radio disney says the name almost everyone knows the words to. The other nice thing is, moms and dads might even know some of these songs! I was soooooooooo excited when I saw sk8er boi on here, they never put that one on the cds! And it's the best song ever! I finally found the Christian music I was looking for!
I have realized since having a child that I am rather critical of the arrangements of many music CDs for kids.This CD is wonderful.All of the reviews are true.The Cedarmont Kids are singing in a "normal" manner and are easy to listen to.By normal I really mean just plain singing by kids that you can listen to for an extended period of time.This is not a jazzed up CD which is what makes it perfect for me. I really wanted a few CDs of Christian music that included songs that I heard as a child.This CD is so well produced that I feel it would be a welcome addition to any Christian parent's CD collection.I think that I may start including Cedarmont Kids CDs in my baby shower gifts since this is one item that can be used for several years.

Like the first volume, this CD encourages young children to enjoy classical music.The silly lyrics sometimes impart factual information on the composer or the piece.There are 11 sing-along symphonies and then the 11 symphonies are replayed without the lyrics--total of 22 tracks.Booklet with lyrics and trivia is included.All our children (aged 2-12) enjoy this CD, as do we.

cute for kids
I bought "Nicky's Jazz Lullabies" before my baby was born and loved it, so I decided to purchase this CD.My baby is a little young for it yet, but it fun to listen to while we play.The songs are cute and catchy, and I'm sure she'll love it eventually.I'm a jazz lover and hope to introduce her to some of the greats.Plus, in my opinion, this beats those cheesy kids songs any day.

This is a delightful program of songs that will please everyone with a garden of word-tune delights.My family and I loved it. We've played it over and over again for our friends.I bought it for several other children I know.They loved it.One 4-year-old is determined to learn every song.And that means learning lots of words, rhymes, syncopation, from great artists of American jazz culture. A verbal infusion for the young that is great fun.

That's right, some of the most beautiful songs ever recorded.
I just bought this CD for myself and I love it!It would be great for students in a private school, or for Christmas, or sitting by a campfire at summer camp.These religious tunes are probably the most beautiful I have ever heard.My favorites are "He's got the Whole World" and "Michael Row the Boat."Up till today, I never even knew that the "he" of the first song mentioned in this review refers to the one-and-only God.Basically, this is an ideal CD to have in every child's house and every grade school since it teaches children to appreciate God more than anything else in the universe.Just ignore the fact that track 29 is substantially different from track 14.I must say these wonderful songs are waaaaaaaay better than some of the dull kids TV shows that came out recently.Oh, and if some of you animé fans out there like shows like "Water-spider Wonder-spider," you'll like this, too!Get it and you'll see what I mean.

This is one of the greatest CD's to have in your car CD player in you have a child. I have this cd, and it is wonderful for my little sister whom is in my car sometime she LOVES to sing. She knows her Disney songs, and in this world of American Idol, and such she wants to sing too. So.. this CD is wonderful she knows all of those lyrics, and she is so proud of herself when she can sing a whole song, without the original singer too. So glad this collection is not out of print!
I am so glad this collection of lullabyes is not out of print.When our daughter was born 18 years ago, we received the tape as a gift.We rocked and sang along to the songs for many years.Our daughter is now going off to college and requestedthis CD to take along with her.Her request brought tears to my eyes and I recalled the sweet songs we listened to so many years ago.I will gladly order a copy for her, a keepsake for me and several to give for gifts!

Wonderful Collection of Music.
A CHILD'S CELEBRATION OF DANCE MUSIC is a wonderful collection of music put out by the Music for Little People label.There aren't very many people familiar with the albums released by Music for Little People, but thier label produces some of the best collections of popular music suitable for families that I have ever come across. Most of their albums are centered around a theme or type of music (Country, Rock and Roll, etc.) and it's all good stuff sung by the original artists.No Britney Spears or boy band songs here. Instead, songs that at one time were fairly popular, but that are now somewhat obscure are brought together with a few better known hits.This collection includes songs that are fun to dance to.Some of my favorites include:

near perfection

Amazing CD!
I love this CD.It has a folksy tone with some interesting lyrics.I enjoy the history, the variety and the quality of the recordings.My babies like it, and dance to some of the songs.I highly recommend this CD.

Gentle lull to sleep
This collection does run hot and cold, I agree. There are a lot of songs about toiling in coal mines, too. But these gentle old fashioned songs are great for settling my boy to sleep. The first few are fun to sing together ("Let's go riding in the car", "All around the kitchen" (cock a-doodle oodle oo!)) then they calm down and it works perfectly for nodding off. I also appreciate that my son is getting some exposure to these American classics. Recommended, at least as a change of pace from those migraine-inducing "kid's Bop" CDs.

Runs hot & cold
I was initially quite disappointed with this CD - I felt that it wasn't a particularly good representation of international music (yes, when I read the label closer, I realized it was intended more as an American music collection, but some of the reviews and summaries were misleading).Read more
