Great lullaby CD - it really works!

Angelic & Gorgeous Music For Babies Of All Ages
I'm not a typical fan of Linda Ronstadt's. The only album I own of hers beside this is "Mad Love", her 80's attempt at Elvis Costello flavoured power pop which alienated a lot of her fans. But I dig it when artists attempt new things so these two albums are right up my alley. I don't see how the reviewer for Amazon.com can call this her creative nadir. I catch glimpses of heaven when listening to this CD, particularly when Linda's soft, clear voice takes on the hauntingly beautiful piece of pop perfection that is the Beach Boys' "In My Room". This one brings tears to my eyes. "Dedicated", "Be My Baby", "Baby I Love You", "Angel Baby" and "Winter Light" are also high points. The arrangements are tasteful with just the right amount of harps, strings, and Linda's own backup vocals mixed to perfection. The duet with Aaron Neville on "Brahms Lullabye" is sublime in it's quiet grandeur. Appropriately, the CD ends with one of the loveliest melodies ever recorded by the Beatles, the wonderfully calming and optimistic "Good Night" with a string section that is very faithful to the original version. Ringo sang it nicely but Linda's version is (dare I say it?) the superior one. After a day of stress, "Dedicated to the One I Love" is just what the doctor ordered to unwind with. I do agree with most of my fellow Amazon.com critics who say that Linda's one misstep is the cover of Queen's "We Will Rock You" but I do appreciate the inherent humor in including it in this collection. Soothing music like this is for everybody except those that have to have the relentless pounding of drums to enjoy music. But if you're into quiet, lovely music this CD is a must-have, whether you have babies or you're a grown up baby like me.

Buying another one!
My daughter loves to sleep to this CD.She uses the "hair dryer" noise (Track 4) for nap time and Track 3 for bed time. As soon as she hears the music she is ready to go to sleep! We are buying another CD to have at our in-laws house.

A baby bag must have
The DVD gives you a sample but having the CD is the way to go. This allows you to take the sounds that WILL put the baby to sleep with you in the car, to the inlaws, to the babysitter--you name it. We grab it for the baby bag as we would the diapers and wipes! It will help you get and keep sitters because the baby will sleep thanks to these sounds for whoever is watching him.

Love the method, just not this CD
First, let me say that I LOVE the Happiest Baby methods. They worked like an absolute dream with our baby, who is a great sleeper to this day (3 years later!).

It's a Hi-5 Christmas
I purchased the Jump and Jive CD from Hi-5 and say the christmas CD on sale. I had heard and seen a video of on of the christmas songs and thought my son may enjoy this one too. And sure enough he loves the Christmas CD as much as the orginal one. He still love to listen to it even though Christmas is over. I like how they kept some Christmas songs in there orignal/traditional way. But they also changed a few songs but named them as some of the more traditional ones. All in all it is a beautiful Christmas CD and I feel they are very talented singers. I think any one looking to purchase a nice Christmas CD for their child should purchase this one. You won't be disapointed.

Great Christmas CD
My daughter is 3 and she and I are big fans of Hi-5.I bought this CD thinking it would not be very original but we were thrilled w/ the CD.The songs were great and we sang them a over and over during the holidays.I hated to pack it away until next year!!!I recommend this CD to anyone who is a fan of the Hi-5 gang.

Great for kids
I bought this for my 8 year old daughter and she really enjoys it, we really enjoy it. The songs are inspirational and uplifting. We like to listen especially in the morning on our way to school and work. It really gets our day going. Worship Jamz are cool, my daughter says.

Amazing metal masterpiece
Whenever I play this, I cant help but windmill and headbang until my nose bleeds. This blows away Reign in Blood and Beneath the Remains easily, I mean come on, Slayer and Sepultura are wussies compared to these guys.

Wonderful Collection of Music.
A CHILD'S CELEBRATION OF DANCE MUSIC is a wonderful collection of music put out by the Music for Little People label.There aren't very many people familiar with the albums released by Music for Little People, but thier label produces some of the best collections of popular music suitable for families that I have ever come across. Most of their albums are centered around a theme or type of music (Country, Rock and Roll, etc.) and it's all good stuff sung by the original artists.No Britney Spears or boy band songs here. Instead, songs that at one time were fairly popular, but that are now somewhat obscure are brought together with a few better known hits.This collection includes songs that are fun to dance to.Some of my favorites include:

near perfection
well i am a fan of disney music from most disney films so i figured this might be good to own. when i actually looked at the track listing i knew i just had to have this cd and i'm so glad i bought it! this is easily the greatest compilation of disney songs ever!! this is definately one of my favorite cd's and is a must own for any disney lover or music lover in general, and here's why...
Simply Captivating

Amazing CD!
I love this CD.It has a folksy tone with some interesting lyrics.I enjoy the history, the variety and the quality of the recordings.My babies like it, and dance to some of the songs.I highly recommend this CD.

Gentle lull to sleep
This collection does run hot and cold, I agree. There are a lot of songs about toiling in coal mines, too. But these gentle old fashioned songs are great for settling my boy to sleep. The first few are fun to sing together ("Let's go riding in the car", "All around the kitchen" (cock a-doodle oodle oo!)) then they calm down and it works perfectly for nodding off. I also appreciate that my son is getting some exposure to these American classics. Recommended, at least as a change of pace from those migraine-inducing "kid's Bop" CDs.

Runs hot & cold
I was initially quite disappointed with this CD - I felt that it wasn't a particularly good representation of international music (yes, when I read the label closer, I realized it was intended more as an American music collection, but some of the reviews and summaries were misleading).Read more

Dan ZanesNightime is "Happy Music"
I was introduced to the Dan Zanes Nightime CD while I was visiting my 3 1/2 year old grandson.He listens to it everynight before going to sleep with "Pay Me You Owe Me" being his single favorite song.I fell in love with the CD because each time I play it I can vividly recall the pleasure it gave us both. The choice of songs on the CD gives all ages something to remember and before you know it you will be singing and dancing along with the music.

ahh, memories...
I had this as a kid, along with Mozart's Journey through the Magic Flute, and I listened to them all the time.I remember once on my birthday, I had to go see my dad give a lecture before we went out to eat, so I brought along my tape player and this cassette.When i hear it now, I think of that night. Also, I just purchased the CD, and when I got it I was so happy, so exaulted, so thrilled.I was smiling the whole time I was listening during math class.I highly recommend this to any child, Bach has become my favorite composer and I am writing a term paper on him all because of this wonderful recording.

Grew up with this.....
I was just listening to some classical music and a piece by Bach came on and i was reminded of this CD (tape when i was a kid) and I really remember loving this recording and listening to it over and over as a kid.It really gave me an appreciation for this kind of music!Maybe from an adult perspective it's simple or inaccurate - but it really brought Bach to life for me as a child.

Such An Impact!
As a college student who still remembers and loves her "Mr. Bach Comes To Call", "Beethoven Lives Upstairs", and "Mozart's Magic Fantasy: A Journey Through 'The Magic Flute'", I would recommend these CDs without a doubt. Over a decade later I still remember these tapes (as they were when I first got them) and still remember classical songs that many of my friends can't even name composers to. We Love It!!
I put this on my 19month old daughter's Wish List for Christmas and we just listened to it today.She loved the animal sounds in the beginning and danced to some of the music.It's not something she'll sit down and just listen to as a storytime yet, but I think it will be a timeless addition to our CD collection.As an adult, I enjoyed listening to the stories and the music.A good buy for younger and older children as the music is very rythymic, but not too loud (I think my daughter would have liked it as an infant).

wonderful for our 2-yr-old
This album is a great hit with our toddler.Many, many nights she requests to listen to this CD as she goes to sleep.The rhythms are wonderful for young ears, she loves to sing the choruses with the children on the recording............it tickles me to see my daughter respond so positively to lyrics in a language foreign to her.

so NOT annoying
I bought this for my daughter's 5th birthday...she loves hamsters (among other dritters).She loves it!The surprise was that my 9 and 12 year olds love it too.The even bigger surprise is that my husband and I even enjoy it...ok, we don't listen to it alone.But when the kids beg to play it on the van cd player, we don't mind.I thought it would be annoying (think "Alvin and the Chipmunks") but it isn't.The music actually has beat, melody, and is very catchy.Just good fun.

Fun C.D. for kids
This C.D. is a cute one to add to a silly mix/collection.I can't say thatI am overly impressed with it, however, we (the kids & I) do boggie to some of the songs.I think I can deal with it for another few months...:-)

It really doesn't get much better than this CD. The primary benefit of the music is that it is a terrific selection of funny and touching arias from the classical genre. I am an opera lover and bought this for myself to memorize the words in English, as prompts when I listen to the pieces untranslated.I started listening to the CD while I was driving, and within a week had bought about a dozen CDs to distribute to family members and friends, with kids (and without). Everyone loves it. And at the end of the CD are several tracks of just the music, so you can sing along, which is a hoot. Your friends and colleagues, who hear you barking along to beats, will think you have taken leave of your senses. The lyrics (in English) are in the liner notes. I would suggest not reading the liner notes while driving.
World's Very Best Opera for Kids... in English
I listen to this with my 3 year old and we both enjoy it. I am not an operatic expert and to my lay ears the performances here sound great, and my daughter likes hearing the words to some of her favorite music ("Play the Torreadores again Mommy!") Loved the CD, same music as on the DVD which my 20-month-old grandson loves.Falls asleep at night with the CD on, and I leave it on all night to soothe him if he wakes.Great puchase, worth the money!

Love this CD
My daughter and I love to listen to this CD while driving in the car.Although I believe that listening to the real instruments and to the original classical arrangements is the most benificial to a growing baby, my daugher seems to listen to this synthesized version "better" than the real thing.The developers seem to have paid attention to finding instruments similar to the real thing, but tonally different enough to be more easily heard.Just a hunch though.Being a radio station surfer myself, I appreciate the shortened songs. ... Get the songbook, too.
My two-year old loves this CD and the CD "De Colores". She can sing several of the songs and constantly asks "How do you sayin Spanish?" Unless you happen to know these songs, lyrics, and the hand gestures, you should also get the accompanying songbook. This CD does not contain lyrics or info about how to do the hand gestures on these songs. The songbook has the most beautiful illustrations of any children's book, as well as the translations, and hand gestures.

All time favorite
We sing the songs as much as our kids who are 2 and 5 years old. The songs are fun, easy to understand, and educational.Wait - let me emphasize the fun part again! A must for your collection of kids music.

This CD is just ok.I like the "Baby Needs..." collection much better.The music in this CD is nice, but some of it is fast paced and does not work well to listen to during nap time.My son seems to enjoy it, though.It is nice for playtime.

So great at bedtime
I purchased this CD for my children, ages 2 & 5. My 5-year-old has autism and has trouble calming down in the evenings. This CD, along with the Baby Mozart and Baby Vivaldi CDs, make the whole process go smoothly. Both kids enjoy the music and hum along. It's a great way of incorporating classical music into the lives of young ones.

Ugh! Glorified Music-Box Music
