3-0 out of 5 stars Not great, but has some good tunes
I was looking for a few new cds for my 2 year old and came across this one. It is a mixed bag in that some of the songs are upbeat and fun to listen to while others are not. The Animal Action songs are good and so is the Beanbag Boogie. Interestingly the artists must have known they had a good thing because they repeat these songs on the CD. Note that this is quite an old product. The music recalls the era of Flashdance.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for learning body parts and movement
I'm a special education teacher and I'm always in the look out for fun action songs that are educational, fun and motivating. I think that the songs are age appropriate for young and older students. The songs get my students dancing and moving around while learning so much about their bodies and movement.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kids in Motion
This is a great CD.As a preschool teacher and a dance instructor, I get lots of use out this CD.The children respond well to the music and lyrics.I especially love "Bean Bag Boogie I and II" and the children do too!! and "Animal Action I and II"I am very happy to have invested in a Greg and Steve CD.I have also purchased "Kids in Action" to add to my collection and will add more titiles as well. ... My daughter loves the music and the colorforms that accompany it.She loves Little Einsteins!

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this CD!!!!
My 2 1/2 daughter loves this CD so much!! She will sit in her room and sing to it and act out the scenes all day. She wants to listen to it when she goes to bed even. I think it makes her use her imagination even more because she is listening to it rather than watching the show. I have every Little Einstein product that you can get and this is another great tool for developing her imagination!

4-0 out of 5 stars 4-year old - loves this
My son loves this in the car.And I like it better than him watch a DVD, because he has to think and imagine more.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's all about the Fruit Salad
I don't think I have heard most of the songs on this disk, however I am only writing to recommend the song Fruit Salad. This is a fantastic instructional song for young and old alike to make their own fruit salad (yummy yummy!).I am not a cook, but this song breaks down the instructions in a way that anyone could understand. It tells you to get all of the ingredients, put them into a bowl, eat it up (yummy yummy) and then EVEN tells you how to clean it up after. How can you beat it?I don't usually listen to lyrics, but in this case I have listened to every word and made an exception. It's a happy fun song that you would even listen to if you didn't feel like making or eating a fruit salad...you can't go wrong! Those funky Wiggles!!!
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent children's entertainment
My 15 month old loves the music on this CD.It's great to dance & sing to.It's not iritating to adults either.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cute bop music that kids love...
Obviously not all the reviewers of this music understood the intended audience. The intended audience is for small children.

Editorial Review

This is a real sleeper of an album, literally. Smooth-jazz musicians--including Peter White, Dave Koz, Norman Brown, David Benoit, and others--play music here to put babies to sleep. Fans of New Age music, specifically what came out of the Pacific Northwest in the '80s, may find many of these 14 tracks reminiscent of that period. Long-time listeners of smooth-jazz radio may be reminded of the kind of ethereal, spacey music that was played in the early days of the format. Many of the songs are as obvious as Brian Culbertson's somnambulating "Brahms' Lullaby" and Koz's "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star," but some are inspired choices with creative arrangements and strong performances. Koz and his brother Jeff shine on the Beatles' title tune and the other Lennon/McCartney chestnut, "Blackbird." Brown's take on James Taylor's "You Can Close Your Eyes" is also moving, while not straying from the stillness of the concept. Perhaps the standout track is the superb performance of vocalist John Stoddart on Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely." Read more

This CD is just a beautiful compilation of relaxing music, for our daughter [and me, the "Mom"].I've loved many of the artists for years, and was thrilled that my husband found this CD.I would highly recommend this CD to anyone that just wants to relax at the end of the day, with or without child.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun exposure to classical music
I bought Beethoven's Wig 1 and 2 last year, and my children (ages 6 and 10) begged me to get this one!Richard Perlmutter's voice is a little nasal (every once in a while you're reminded of Barney sing-a-longs) but the other voices that are on the CD are nice. This is an awesome way to familiarize children with classical music themes.I'm hoping that as my children grow up, they will be attracted to some classical music because they will have some familiar melodies in their memory banks.I highly recommend this CD to anyone with young children.

5-0 out of 5 stars The appeal of this CD can't be exaggerated
Sometimes pretentious, sometimes downright ridiculous products promising to expose our children to classical music can be as obnoxious as they are ubiquitous. Noise-making machines imitating Mozart do not a classical music lover make, particularly when it comes to plastic devices that light up and play unrecognizable sound.
5-0 out of 5 stars Warning:the fun is contagious!
For those of you familiar with Beethoven's Wig 1 and 2, you already know to expect the unexpected from lyric genius Richard Perlmutter and his very talented Beethoven's Wig crew. They have single-handedly delivered the classical music repertoire to millions of young children in the most innovative, engaging way - marrying the best of the classical repertoire to witty, fun lyrics for children (and adults!) that engage, entertain, and make the music unforgettable with the charming voice of Perlmutter himself and an accomplished operatic ensemble of singers. While so many artists struggle to follow up two gigantic successes with a third that doesn't disappoint, Beethoven's Wig 3 masterfully and refreshingly follows its own act with a new twist on the recipe this time:showcasing individual instruments in the orchestra, appreciating the uniqueness of each, and marrying them to short lyrical stories that are making my nephews and nieces laugh out loud while they learn (and while their parents and grandparents chuckle along -- and learn a few things too). The CD booklet contains not only the illustrated stories, but also interesting and fun questions about classical music and different orchestral instruments.I can really see why Beethoven's Wig has won so many children's music awards - there's nothing else like it, kids adore it, and parents feel great about knowing their children are developing a life-long love and appreciation for classical music at an early age. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars If You Are A Parent, Read This!
Parents need to know something about this CD. It's a great CD---I think that it's Kidz Bop's best so far---but there's a little part in one of the songs that may be frightening to younger kids.
1-0 out of 5 stars crappy CD
I'd have to say, the version of Thriller on the CD is the crappiest version i've ever heard. The real versions of a lot of the songs are MUCH better.

My daughter and I listen to this CD every night before bed time.I have my favorite songs and she and I dance around and listen to the beat.I sing the songs and she's learning them (she's 2).We have a great time listening to this CD and she listens to the characters talking or singing. It's a plus for every child who loves the Sesame Street characters, including Mommies & Daddies.

I bought this C.D. when my daughter was 16 months and she loved it from the start! She's now 2 and still wants it every time we get in the car. Every song is wonderful. Of course she has her favorites; Monster Song-"Wubba, wubba" she calls it or Hands, Shoulders, Knees,... As the months have past the request have changed to Oscar's trash song or Big Bird's Ab-c-def-i. Now our entire play group has the C.D. and we all find ourselves singing along or quoting lyrics. None of the kids can get enough of it. You'll find yourself singing the tunes in the shower too. It has all the songs I remember as a child growing up in the 70's. I'm so happy to share it with her. You can't go wrong with this C.D. Best one in our collection!!! I'd give it a 6 Star if I could. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredibly Calming!!Good for surgeries!
O.k.I played this CD for my son when he was in the womb and it always seemed to help calm his many cases of hiccups.I could feel him calm himself down listening to this. Then in delivery I had a C-Section and am terrified of needles. They strapped down my arms and legs and I couldn't stop sobbing. It was extremely traumatic.I begged for this CD.I had brought it to play for the newborn in the hospital when he was born.My husband and some nurses ran to get it out of my bag during the surgery.Once they got it and it started playing, I immediately calmed down and things from that point on went well. The doctors couldn't believe the change in me.And to top it off, my son now came into the world listening to his favorite music already.(We did classical music also, but this always seemed to calm him much more).I am ordering another one just for a back-up.Get this CD for your pregnant friends and friends with new babies.I can't recommend it highly enough!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't Pass This One Up
What a beautiful CD!I listen to it over and over.It is so peaceful and relaxing and you don't even need to have a baby or child to own this CD.You will definitely want to add this to your collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chinesse Lullabies-Beijing Angelic Choir
I sent this for my adopted, niece to ease her transition into our western, culture.Thought it would make her surroundings a bit more familiar. Although it was meant for my infant niece, seems my sister & brother-in-law could'nt wait to listen. They enjoyed it so much that they immediately installed it on their i-pod(tm). I had occasion to hear it myself when I went to help decorate the nursery. The voices are so soothing...universal in their lulling effect...angelic to the point of being ethereal.I would highly, recommend this disc for parents of any cultural, origin.Even adults will feel at peace listening to these heavenly voices. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars fun, but not appropriate for kids - violent lyrics
This CD is fun and musically intriguing, but not appropriate for kids... one song talks about "what can you do in a case like that but stamp on your mother, and your toothbrush, and on everything that's helpless." Another talks of being an immigrant to the country and says "and they beat me, and they banged me, and they left me on the ground." And another says "I'm a great sharpshootress. There is nothing that I can't shoot in the eyes, or the ears, or the teeth, or the fingers." Musically it's fun and goofy and intriguing, but I was appalled when I realized what I was encouraging my young child to listen to.
5-0 out of 5 stars Breath of Fresh Air
Wonderful instrumentals and lyrics.A Shenandoah Lullaby is simply beautiful.I love the way the ending segues into Brahm's lullaby. His version of Arkansas traveller is refreshing.Teddy Bears' Picnic is a quaint song that few people have heard. There Ain't No Bugs On Me is my two-year-old daughter's favorite, judging from the way she belts out this song and giggles from time to time.I like all the songs on the CD.A breath of fresh air for parents who prefer real instruments to synthesized pop.

Editorial Review

This anthology of children-related tracks originates from the globally conscious Putamayo Records catalog. Artists from Africa (Senegal's Touré Kunda, Congo's Ricardo Lemvo), Europe (France's Manu Chao), the Caribbean (Jamaica's Cedella Marley Booker), North America (Buckwheat Zydeco and Eric Bibb from the U.S.; Canada's Teresa Doyle), South America (Brazil's Nazaré Pereira), and Australia (Trevor Adamson) offer tracks, and while the styles and moods vary, the album gels excellently. Even if the multicontinent angle strikes you as too catholic, it bears reiterating that this is a "playground" session, a collection that begins with a Senegalese in-line dance and continues through "Mardi Gras Mambo," a bongo-playing French monkey, and much more. And while the songs are playful, there's nothing in the way of tossed-off music. It's all first-rate, with the artists at the top of their games.Read more

Editorial Review

If you failed to get on the bus when the Doodlebops released their first CD in 2005, chances are there's no getting out of the rockin' and boppin' this time. Especially if your toddler, like so many toddlers, scoots closer to the TV each time the 'Bops theme music kicks in. Don't sweat what may initially appear a downward spiral into utter Doodlebop domination within your household, though: Deedee, Rooney, and Moe, despite their clownish, cotton candy-ish appearances, are capable of real musical moments, and they're also pretty good pop singers. Sure, songs like "Wobbly Whoopsy" are cloying, and yes, the tweet-load of bird noises in the "Bird Song" can grate. The flip side is that whoever's in charge of the 'Bops recording career knows how to put together a slick-sounding record, and chances are you'll find yourself singing along and not even hating yourself for it. If Barney set the bar for unlistenably bad kids' music, the 'Bops hover far, far beneath it--look past your prejudice toward songs with such titles as "Gibble Gobble," if you can, and get grooving. If you don't do it now, you might not be so lucky next time. Read more

I'm a musician of many different instruments and me and my wife AND our 2 year old son love Dan Zanes. All the members of the band have exceptional musical talent and the different sounds go great together.People keep saying it's for older kids- but our 22 month old loves most of the songs on this CD.And when they show the videos on t.v. he immediately starts dancing around. We took him to see Dane Zanes live at Disney MGM studios and he had a great time dancing with the other kids.Met him after the show and he's an incredibly nice guy too.We don't really buy the Sesame street type music for him so that might be why he doesn't lose interest in this type of music.Of all the other "kids music" available out there (Laurie Berkner, Milkshake, Lisa Lobe sp?) Dan Zanes is definately our favorite.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for children and adults alike!
We learned about Dan Zanes (sad to say) from Playhouse Disney (which my kids watch more than they should). I chose this particular album because it had our favorite song (among the ones we had seen featured), "Malti" (in Spanish). Immediately, my children adored this CD and wanted to play it every day, several times a day. Oddly enough, neither my husband nor I objected; we sing along, too. A mix of traditional and original tunes, excellently orchestrated; real wit and personality come through. We'll be getting more CDs by Dan Zanes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Zane and the Divas
I love this CD, love Dan Zane. It's nice to find music that can be enjoyed by the whole family. In other words, music for kids that is actually musical. My favorite by far is track 10, All Around the Kitchen (with Loudon Wainwright III).My wife is partial to Malti (with Barbara Brousal) and my daughter picked The Hokey Pokey (with Father Goose) as her favorite.

5-0 out of 5 stars Favorite Bedtime CD
I have been using the CD for a few days now and I love it!I tried many other lullaby CD's and this one is most soothing and enjoyable. My daughter sleeps better with it on and I like to listening to it while putting her down.Do not hesitate to get this CD!

4-0 out of 5 stars Bedtime w/the Beatles
This is one of the best cd's I have to play while my little one sleeps. However, it's easy to get tired of it playing over and over again. I mix it up with Bach for Babies and the recently purchased Best Piano Music Ever 2cd set. This Beatles lullaby cd is the reliable back up background music. I just hope when my son grows up, he won't fall asleep when he hears a song by the Beatles!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Soundtrack to my Son's Infancy...
My wife and I stumbled across this CD in a Zany Brainy going out of business in SC. Being that my mother is a ex-hippie Beatles nut (who raised me to love great music), we snatched it up, the last one on the shelf, six months prior to our son's birth.

5-0 out of 5 stars The most wonderful children's CD ever made
My family grew up with these songs, we have gone through multiple copies as they have been well worn & misplaced as we took them everywhere. I am so excited to find that there is an edition still availble as I raise my kids for them to fall in love with all the music from my childhood heart. I have sung more songs to them from off of this album than from anywhere else. I can't recommend this highly enough.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great kids CD
Our son enjoys this and so do I. Some of the slow songs are a drag, but all in all it is great for kids.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best childrens CD ever!
My daughter and I adore this CD! We would sing along to it where ever we went! Our favorite is Blueberry Pie by Bette Middler. The CD finally got way too scratched up to play so we have not had the pleasure of hearing it for over a year. :( Emily is 7 now and still asks me to please put on her favorite CD. Now that I have found it again, she will be so happy. ... Read more
