5-0 out of 5 stars Enjoy the music, avoid Raffi
My kids have loved him, and we found him one of only a few children's-music singers who didn't wear thin on parent's ears! The others are Fred Penner, Mary Rice Hopkins, and Jonathan Edwards (Little Hands.)

This collection is easy to listen to. My baby loves it and the songs are addicting for both daddy and I.It's a must for babies!

My 17 month old son, and I, love Raffi songs. This collection of CD's contains wonderful music for children and anyone who likes Raffi.I bought the CD's because of the "Brush Your Teeth" song on the first CD in the set.I needed something to liven up teeth brushing sessions with my toddler. He liked that song as well as all the other songs in the collection. We love it! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Hands Down the Best Kids Artist that We've Found
Not only does our 18 month old daughter love this CD (and artist), so does our 9 year old nephew and both my husband and I.This is some of most infectious music I've heard in years, and I can't recommend it enough.

5-0 out of 5 stars "You HAVE to Hear This!"
There is a phenomenon known as the "Pod Person" review. This is when an adult is so impressed with a movie, book or CD that is ostensibly intended for children that they start trying to sell other ADULTS on it as well.
5-0 out of 5 stars Meltdown by Justin Roberts
Kid (3 and 6 yr old) and adult friendly, we love this album. It is stronger than Yellow Bus - the band is great and the lyrics as well as the tunes get to you, without sticking in your head like many kids's songs do.Great for dancing and singing along.See him in concert if you can! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Enough songs so as not to completely drive a parent crazy
My nearly 3-year-old son did not appreciate this CD until he was about 2 1/2. Before that, I could listen to whatever I wanted. But now, it seems to ground my son, and reassure him. He asks for his music, and will not get out of the car until a song is over. The songs, often accompanied by children, are actually fun to listen to, and fun to be, well, fun with. My 1-year-old daughter remains unphased by anything except classical music.

5-0 out of 5 stars My son LOVES this CD!
He will only listen to this CD despite the other 3 in my CD holder in the car.My only complaint is that I am so tired of listening to it!!LOL

5-0 out of 5 stars happy and fun

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Gift for Any Mother
I own this CD. While listening to it for the 100th time I was enjoying it so much I wanted to share it with a friend who recently had a baby, so I bought one for her. It's a beautiful, emotional and loving album. I am a Celine Dion fan and this album adds a whole new dimension toher music I recommend it highly to any Celine fan who doesn't already own it. And for any parent who knows the joy of new parenthood.
5-0 out of 5 stars Well worth it!
Celine Dion's "Miracles" album is a beautiful gift and a treasure to own.I purchased two CD's; one as a gift for a new mother. She wrote to tell me how much she loves it.The song selection is different than most baby albums, but the babies don't know that (!) and it makes most mothers get misty-eyed.This CD is worth owning.

Baby may not love jazz just yet, but boy is (s)he about to: This disc, the first in a series cooked up for Verve by Andy Blackman Hurwitz--who just happens to be the guy behind those nationwide "Baby Loves Disco" parties that allowed parents to shake their groove things in the name of musical education--amounts to a musical motherlode for the roots- and rock-dominated kids' category. It's not just the artists these 17 thoroughly considered tracks trot out (though with Sharon Jones of Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Steven Bernstein of Sex Mob, and John Medeski of Medeski, Martin and Wood on board, droppable names abound), it's the attitude. Jazz may be known for its cool cats and smoky sophistication, but here it's pure, fizzy fun. And with depth. "Old MacDonald" becomes a bandleader--one who can bring it--ticking off his players; "Banana Boat Song" sails off somewhere both adults and kids will want to go; and "The Wheels on the Bus" do some funky maneuvering here. Stops in between to highlight individual instruments are smart enough to seem straight out of "Sesame Street," which is to say they're masterful. So is the rest of this disc, down to the red-hot closing sax riff. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great music for baby AND mom
I bought this CD with a gift card, because I wanted some soothing music for my daughter's naptime. In looking at the titles of the pieces, I didn't recognize very many, but in listening to the CD I found that I recognize much of the music.I was pleased at how calming it was and found myself humming various pieces throughout the day.
5-0 out of 5 stars Baby Mozart - Music CD
I love all of the Baby Einstein DVD's, so the music CD has been just as good as the DVD's.I play it all the time when my son is in the car and it seems to calm him and keep his attention.

5-0 out of 5 stars My son's favorite CD!
I received this wonderful CD as a shower gift and began playing it for my son while I was still pregnant, placing the earphones around my abdomen. We would listen to it twice a day, along with some other CDs, up until the day he was born. After he was born, I didn't play the CD for two weeks, but when I finally did, after the first few notes, he immediately stopped what he was doing and with wide eyes turned his head toward the sound. He was completely quiet and focused for much of the CD! I would not recommend it for "sleepy time" if your child is easily startled awake as the intro is a bit robust (as are a few of the other pieces). As often as we have listened to this CD, I never grow tired of it, and, it seems, neither does he! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My toddler asks to listen to it over and over.
I bought this collection for my daughter when she was about a year old.I didn't care too much for the songs myself at the time but I wasn't really wanting to listen to children's music in the first place.I am really glad that I bought it.My daughter is now almost 2 and she asks to listen to "the music" everyday. She will play in her room by herself for about an hour while I have these CD's playing and when we are away from home or doing something else, she will often start singing some of the songs by heart. It has really helped with her vocabulary and I am amazed at how many of the songs she can remember. Some reviewers don't like the children singing on this CD but my daughter loves it.I also like that there are 4 CD's.If I get tired of playing one, I will just put in a different one.As long as my child loves it,I'm happy too.

Editorial Review

Lullabies lend themselves to woozy re-creations, a sort of endless repetition that flags under the weight of the concept (putting kids to bed for their much-needed sleep) and the lack of weight accorded to the music. You might expect a Disney lullaby collection to be on a par with the most mediocre collections, but this one is really a fine set. The tunes are standard--from the famous "Brahms Lullaby" to "All the Pretty Little Horses"--but they're uniformly excellent and creative, staying within the realm of acoustic music that sounds and feels organic. These are Disney-related tunes, for the most part, so "Stay Awake" is here, as is the whimsical "Sleep, Daddy, Sleep." Musically, the set is varied, steering away from a repetition of instrumentation or delivery. That makes it easily entertaining enough for back-to-back listens, which any parent will be asked for with this collection. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Familiar Favorites that actually send your baby to sleep at night.
I purchased this CD during my second trimester and forgot about it completely until my baby was almost a month old.During that fussy night, I played the CD in my iBook using iTunes on Auto-Replay and Shuffle. It caught my son's attention in mid-scream and he calmed down to fall asleep.Whenever Jason hears the music, he actually pauses from his movements and slows down to be lulled into sleep/nap mode.

5-0 out of 5 stars A homerun with my daughter
My daughter just turned 2 and loves this CD.We borrowed it from the library, our first Rafi experience, and she instantly fell in love with it.I will now buy our own.I do agree with the customer who commented about the "spider on my head - I wish that I were dead," but I anticipate the words and turn down the volume all the way and sing "boy, my face was red".Otherwise we LOVE this CD.I particularly like the driving beat of "Down by the Bay".We make up our own words for a couple of the songs.I heard her singing the words to "5 Little Pumpkins" and I don't even know all the words to that one."Robin in the Rain" reminds me of the Farrelly Brother's movies. My daughter always asks for this CD to be played.

This CD is excellent! It has instrumental music and lyrics for all the popular princess songs. It also has the music with the vocalists as well so it is like vocal training that your child can do on their own.My daughter is having so much fun singing all the time. She is singing better than ever and has confidence performing for an audience. She is 7 years old.

2-0 out of 5 stars Why Disney printed this??????
I don't know why. When I saw he cover of this album, I thought it would be perfect, but when I bought it, I was very disappointed! Because this album was not very different from the album "Sing-along with Disney Princess", many tracks were the same! If you want a cuter cover, buying this one will be better. If you want to listen to the tracks only, you'd better buy the cheaper one, "Sing-along with Disney Princess".

This Karaoke disc is better than previous Disney Karaoke as they finally made a true CDG. I've had girls from the ages of 9-17 sing along and love it

Editorial Review

As foreboding a figure as Johnny Cash was, his son John Carter Cash writes in liner notes to this excellent CD, he was also a big kid: "a fun-loving, easygoing, laughing man." That's not to say he was more inclined to skateboard over the line than to walk it, only that given his mesmerizing voice and his gift for storytelling, he had an enviable way of relating to kids. Thirty years on, parents who pick up this disc will find not a lot has changed: In 15 songs never before released on CD--four of which are bonus tracks not included on the 1975 classic--the Man in Black melds the silly with the sweet, the madcap with the meaningful, and emerges as a country-folk Pied Piper any kid would kill to have for an uncle. "Nasty Dan," the opener, will be familiar not only to those who grew up singing along to the original LP, but also to subsequent generations of "Sesame Street" watchers (Oscar duets on a later version). But for most, the rest will arrive as pure revelation. "Old Shep," a dog song, deserves placement on a disc of classic pet tributes, if such a thing exists; "Tiger Whitehead" treads fearlessly through wild bear territory; "Ah Bos Cee Dah" is nonsensical noodling with the language at its most brilliant; and "I Got a Boy and His Name Is John," a duet with the great June Carter Cash, steers the modern listener to a long-lost place where love of family was enough for a kid to get by on. 5-0 out of 5 stars relief
I was so happy to discover this album. My 17-month-old son loves music and we were tiring of his Raffi and Baby Einstein CDs. While the content may be over his head, he smiles contently with the slow tracks and claps along with the upbeat ones. A sweet standout is the duet with June Carter Cash about their son John -- it is wonderful to have such a warm, charmingly funny song reflecting parents love for a child and each other.

5-0 out of 5 stars A pleasant surprise!
I didn't know what to expect from this album but was pleasantly surprised. In fact, it has become one of my favorite Johnny Cash albums (the others being American IV, American V, Live at Folsom Prison, and Bitter Tears). A few of the songs are, perhaps, forgettable, but many of the others are catchy and down-right fun. "Nasty Dan" makes me smile whenever I hear it. "I Got a Boy" is both funny and sweet. I find the tune of "Ah Bos Cee Dah" often runs through my mind. "Why is a Fire Engine Red" is just plain silly but enjoyable.
1-0 out of 5 stars Forgotten Oddity of Interest to Only the Most Serious Johnny Cash Collectors, Perhaps!?
THE JOHNNY CASH CHILDREN'S ALBUM is not very good as being a children's album. It doesn't have that kiddie sound that young kids recognize as being kid's music. Maybe it is okay for kids around 8 years old, but not around 3 years old.

I love this CD.
4-0 out of 5 stars like it
My son seems to like this one too; it'll be good so he'll know kiddie songs & it's definately not as annoying as some cds out there

5-0 out of 5 stars Just like I remember!
I love these cd's!(Volumes 1, 2 and 3) I had these songs on LP when I was a child, and treasured them.It is the same man singing, which I am very glad of.His voice is so easy to listen to, unlike some of the other kid's cd's that are out there. My daughter is 2 and she dances around the kitchen and sings along in the car whenever we have this music on.She loves them just as much as I did when I was young. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars I'd rather watch Bugs Bunny cartoons
I borrowed this disc from a co-worker.Initially, IO was interested in this disc because it seemed like it could be a very clever way to introduce classical music to children.I tried to like it, but I found the singers very cloying and saccharine sweet. The lyrics created for the music were very ricky-ticky and not very creative.Perhaps it is best used with very young children, but my students were less than impressed with the selections available on this disc. When introducing classical music to young children, I have found it is not necessary to find cutesy versions of the music with silly lyrics put to them.Watching old Bugs Bunny cartoons (quite a few use classical music as their background) caught my students attention and interest a lot more than the music on this disc did.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kids love it
I have not actually listened to this one - we gave it as gift and have not heard from them either. But we started with Beethoven's Wig 3 which is OUTSTANDING!My kids love it, as do all the "kid" passengers who have ever heard it.We also have #2, which initially didn't seem as good as #3, but with more listening, we are enjoying it more too.#3 was a winner from the very first song. The lyrics are hilarious and the music is beautiful - and my kids love the instrumental pieces as much as the sing-along versions.

1-0 out of 5 stars Crap/KitchSAVE YOUR CHILDREN FROM THIS!
This is so much worse than silly phrases to remember a symphony and the composer. The singing is horrendous, and so much vibrato, that anyone who thinks it is an example of good musicianship will never learn that there is some good music out there - 'cause it ain't HERE!

5-0 out of 5 stars No Trip Down Memory Lane....Just Good Music
My two toddlers love Scholastics "Where The Wild Things Are" DVD, which features some of the songs on this Carole King CD. It was the DVD that inspired me to purchase this CD, because the songs are infectious and well done. I'm not a fan of Carole King, and this is not a trip down memory lane for me, just some of the best music for kids that I have run across. If you are unfamiliar with these tunes, the original stage production, and/or the Maurice Sendak books from which the lyrics are lifted, don't let that keep you from purchasing some of the most creative and imaginative music available for kids. I am very glad I did. We crank it up in the car have a blast!

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this CD...
I have been looking for this CD for years. When I was little I said "I don't Care" all the time when I was asked a question. My parents played it for me. I own the CD and plan to play it for my daughter.
5-0 out of 5 stars Sooo good!
My 7 month old loves this cd as do I.It is fun playing it in the car singing along and remembering the first time I saw the Really Rosie special in second grade. There isn't a more enjoyable cd for the adults and kiddos alike. I highly recommend this cd! ... Read more
