I Love Being A Princess

If you were a kid in the 1970s', chances are you had a copy of this little gem.FREE TO BE YOU AND ME was created by Marlo Thomas as a teaching tool for children.Filled with great songs and comedy bits from a galaxy of stars, the album teaches gentle lessons about sharing, self-belief and tolerance.

Very good, but not the best
This is our newest addition to our Dan Zanes collection. My girls like it a lot. As usual, it contains a lively collection of folk tunes and original songs, all of which entertain kids without making their parents' ears bleed. Overall, this isn't our favorite Zanes collection; a few of the songs are a little boring. However, there are a few real standouts on this CD. My kids love Choo Choo Ch'Boogie, Walkin' the Dog, and Grey Goose, and they've both spent the last few weeks belting out I Don't Want Your Millions Mister (and even making up their own words, like "I don'twant your cooties sister...."). You can explain the context of some of these folks songs to your kids if you want, or just let them enjoy the music. The CD comes packaged with a nice booklet the kids like to look at in the car.

worth the money
My daughter loves this cd.So for that fact alone it is worth it.I guess my only complaint is that some of the songs are not really geared to kids.She likes track #2, #13 the best and they are great songs I like and great for kids - a shaking song and a walk the dog song.Some of the other songs are kinda boring for her.But she likes it and it keeps her from screaming so - it is worth it!And it doesn't make me crazy - like some of the other child music out there.

EDUCATIONAL!!!On a whole new level!
As the mother of two (ages 3 & 5), I have heard all the same kid's music 9 MILLION times!What a difference!This CD has my two kids learning great vocabulary not to mention asking questions about the animals included in the songs and tons of other things that give me the opportunity to teach them cool facts.The variety of musical styles from jazz to swing to folk encourage my kids to enjoy musical diversity.I agree that the triplets song is a bit much but EVERY cd player I've ever seen has a skip button or you can just burn a copy without it!The rest is simply TOO GOOD to MISS!

John has very poor taste
Generally harmless, except for one very offensive song about siblings that hate each other and hate their parents.The song is probably funny to ultra-sophisticated, cynical adults.But the song is totally inappropriate for a four year old.I wouldn't bring this CD into your house.

I love this CD ! A must for kids !
I discovered this CD by mistake (though I've always loved John Lithgow's brand of humor). It's on Yahoo Music and I enjoy listening to the zany lyrics and upbeat tempo. Unlike some of the other people who've written reviews, I think the Triplets song (from The Band Wagon) is one of the smartest songs and has a unstoppable rhythm that makes you want to hear it again and again. Other hits like "Codfish Ball" and "Skin" will leave you humming the tunes for hours afterwards.

Amazing
I loved it! It has all of my favorite music from all of my favorite Disney movies: The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion King! Although I have to say I didn't recognize some of the older songs and don't really jump for joy when some of the Mary Poppins songs play, I still really love this classic Cd set!

Classic Disney: 60 Years of Musical Magic
This CD set covers songs issued only before year 2000. If a song has more than one version(sang by two different singers), this CD set only include the less famous or popular one.It is good to have this CD set but it is not the best Disney CD sets in the market.

not very satisfied
I got Vol 1 and Vol 2. But my daughter doesn't like them. She prefers children singing. So it is not a successful purchase for us. I also agree with some other customers that one person singing all the songs is a little boring.

BE ADVISED!!
These ARE NOT the original Cheetah Girls! Unfortunately, you won't realize this until AFTER you have purchased the cd. This bit of information is inside the cd case. I don't believe that my daughter is aware of this ruse because the girls on the cd sound pretty close to Raven and the others. BUT...if you want to hear the original singers, do not buy this cd.

Wonderful!!!
This is a wonderful book and cd.The music is my 3 1/2 year old daughter's favorite of all her children's cds.She has been dancing to it now for almost 1 1/2 years and consistently asks to listen to it.An added bonus was that my wife is Japanese and new the lyrics to "Donguri" and sings along with my daughter.The truth is, I like it as well.It is not only a great children's cd but a great folk album.This and Garcia/Grisman's "Not for Kids Only" are my two favorite albums that my daughter also likes.Highly recommended!

Laurie Berkner serves up a heaping helping of whacked-out, slaphappy lyrics and get-you-moving acoustic guitar licks. The littlest listeners (Berkner's fan base barely skims the surface of the six-and-up crowd) will want to slip on their dancing shoes for such originals as the opening track, "We Are the Dinosaurs," on which a pack of prehistorics prance around, stopping only to eat their food when they're in the mood and take a rest over in their nest. The blues-soaked "I Know a Chicken" teeters on frenzied, shaky eggs and an over-the-top tempo, and the sweet, musically simple "123" tickles sentimental sides with its "koochie-koochie coo / I love you" refrain. Besides her surefootedness with her own songs, Berkner also nails a number of traditional tunes here, most notably "She'll Be Comin' 'Round the Mountain," "ABCD Medley," on which she artfully melds the ABC song with "Row, Row, Row Your Boat," "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star," and "Wimoweh (The Lion Sleeps Tonight)," a gloriously kiddified rendition of the already infectious original. Great children's cd.
I bought this for my almost 2 year old daughter to listen to in the car. She loves the "elephant" song and enjoys the entire cd. Saturday we brought my 5 year old niece with us. She loved the cd and sang along with most of it. The best part is I don't mind, even kind of enjoy, listening to it.

Wonderful Part of the Sea!
When I was a very little girl, my parents told me the story about a little mermaid that written by Anderson. This was one of the most wonderful stories that I couldn't forget. Several years later, I watched the movie "The Little Mermaid" of Disney. I was deeply attracted by it. And what attracted me most was the music in it. Then my parents bought this soundtrack CD for me as my 14th birthday gift.
I loved this movie!

Works with iPod
To all those who might hesitate to buy this wonderful CD, of one of the greatest Disney movies ever, because of a review here on Amazon that the CD could not be downloaded to the iPod. This is NOT true. I got my CD yesterday and downloaded it directly onto my iPod without any problems. Now I can hear the gorgeous music of "The little Mermaid" wherever I want!!! Don't hesitate to buy this CD, the songs are great and a must for every fan of Disney movies and this in particular. Best of SchoolHouse Rock! Audio CD: Original titles from orignial recordings. Also recommended for those car rides where you can sing along with your kids. My oldest has not been exposed for a week yet, but already can sing several in parts. Rating: 4.5/5
Schoolhouse Rock STILL Rocks!
I loved it as a kid, and now my kids love it -- they're going into 2nd grade and kindergarten soon, so neither has any real understanding of government, grammar, etc., but they sing along with most of the songs, and I think when they start to learn these things in school, the songs will make it easier for them.They're fun, they're catchy -- sure there are a few favorites that aren't there, but almost all the other ones will keep you humming through your day :)

My son listens to this CD almost every night before going to bed. It is calming, soothing, with a nice mix of dream material.

Excellent album for the whole family
Our family loves this album. It isn't just a series of quiet soft kiddy songs, but some that rock and some that are quiet. We can sing along with all of them. Our kids (2 to 9 years) like this album a great deal. It is a bit quirky, as might be expected from TMBG, but that adds to the variety of the music.

My kids love it, and yours will, too
I have been "making" my kids listen to the music of TMBG for years, but I no longer have to "make" them listen.My 6 and 7-year-olds actually "want" to listen to songs like "No!," "Clap Your Hands," and "Four of Two."Although this is not TMBG's best CD (some say it is "Flood"), this is my kid's favorite TMBG's CD.

Every bit as excellent as the movie!
This is a great soundtrack! I love it just as much as I love the movie itself. I purchased it shortly after I got the DVD, and I can honestly say that I got my money's worth.

What a Relief!
Thank goodness for the Laurie Berkner Band!I just couldn't take the kiddie-songs any longer, and my personal music collection had to be reviewed before I put it in the player.With this CD, driving is a breeze.Not to mention the lyrics are creative, fun, uplifting and this is a great help for my 19 month-old to practice his words.The lyrics are clear and easy to memorize.Thank you!!!

Really Great Music for Everyone
I am so happy to have discovered Laurie Berkner!This is made for kids but--it is SMART, SOPHISTICATED, QUALITY kid's music. My daughter and I love this mostly up-beating easy listening CD.The songs are very well written and performed.Berkner's positive and well-adjusted attitude really shines through in her lyrics. This is a delightful collection of songs that both child and parent can enjoy together.It just feels good!

We love Dan Zanes in this house.Partly because we love roots music, partly because it is very listenable for everyone, Mom and Dad included.Like other DZ choices, this is chock full of guest apperances.If you're a fan of the videos from Noggin and the Disney Channel this is the CD to start with."Catch that Train" is also great!

Adult friendly kid music

Is this somthing that I would listen to everyday? No.
.....But It's genius is in the fact that this can be played in a children's room to help them sleep as it is quite soothing and infantile in typical lullaby fashion. but best of all you can stay in the room with your child and not have the urge to blow your brains out to a crappy predictable lullaby from the 'Play-school company over and over and over again. I can listen to this and enjoy it many time's. Get it if you are also ready to choke the stuffing out of mickey and Disney Babies: Lullaby and the such. I have also noticed that there are lullaby versions of Nirvana and Coldplay which I will also be getting. now if they will just release that Motörhead lullaby I'll be set!

...This is the coolest thing ever.
So, I'm obviously not an infant, but I have to say- I LOVE THIS CD. It's complete genius. I love Radiohead, and these lullaby renditions of their songs are very soothing and sweet-sounding. I like falling asleep listening to music, and this CD definitely does the trick.
