5-0 out of 5 stars Hidden Treasure
I had never heard of Pepper until I was in Hawaii this last week and saw them at the Waikiki Shell with 311.They were an awesome band to see live, and if your looking for a sound that isn't blared all over the radio these guys are it.They do definetly remind me of Sublime, but with thier own Hawaiian twist.I recommend thier music to anyone. They should be on tour this summer with 311 so go and check them out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't know what you're missing
Pepper is one of the sickest bands out there. I finally got to see them in concert on Saturday the 26th. I have all their CD's but it was awesome to see them in concert. You WILL NOT be disappointed with Pepper.

5-0 out of 5 stars Darren
Ok ive heard some of they're stuff and ive read the editors description of Kona Hawaii, and seeing that ive been there hand have hung out with the locals of the town, its all very true.I am about to purchase this album because i really love the reggea scene that i saw while I was in Kona. ... Editorial Review

Long Beach garage kings Sublime rode the cresting wave of late-'80s/early-'90s Cali punk to a well-received 1996 major-label debut whose success was overshadowed by tragedy: frontman Brad Nowell died of a heroin overdose just a month before its release. This 1994 album was their freshman indie outing and the record that largely secured their ticket to the majors. Instead of building on the energetic, if formulaic,punk-reggae fusion of their 1992 Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars don't expect to be blown away
As someone else said, FOR FANS ONLY. Do not start at this CD whatever you do. A very layed back listen. A lot of remix dub type songs and it was very rushed. a follow up of the timeless masterpiece "40 oz. to Freedom". From the first song you can tell the CD isn't exactly super melodic and well thought out. it is great though, a lot of catchy tunes, easy listening. you don't have to think about it just cruise. I don't know how to classify sublime they are a whole bunch of genres put together but this CD is good stuff. not a lot of people know about it either. Buy 40 oz to get started but after that this will surely fit right in with the rest of your sublime collection.

3-0 out of 5 stars great songs sadly brought down by a bunch of messing around
this album has some great sublime songs! songs like "saw red" "stepping razor" "greatest hits" and "all you need" are truely great...poolshark isnt that bad either...but many things on this sound too weird and much like a live recording would..with all the voiced talking and stuff like raliegh soliquies..or just demos.
5-0 out of 5 stars Come join the sloppy drunken revelry!
Im a huge sublime and music fan, and this is probably my favorite album by sublime and my fav album of all time. Everything about sublime that i love, (the sloppy, randomness, vast range of musical styles, large amounts of bizarre dubs) is here to behold. I think this album shows more of the personality of Bradley and the band than any of the studio albums, everybody seems like they are having a great time, and I would love to think about Bradley jamming and having fun with lou-dog where ever he is.

4-0 out of 5 stars lacking a little
Overall, this is a good album and has a number of cool songs on it, which is why I rated it 4/5. "Drunk Daddy" is one of my favorites. =D
5-0 out of 5 stars Exellent space-age 50's/60's lounge music with mystique
This cd is classic from beginnign to end.It reiks of martinis and hookah smoke, if you ever have a hookah party this cd is perfect background music, it's also great bachlor pad music, and martini party music.I listen to it whenever I make the L.A. to Vegas roadtrip. It is not traditional swing, but it is swing-dixieland-50's lounge-fusion, in fact there are more hints at dixieland music, than swing on this disc. The music is also very much influenced by lounge lp's of the 50's-60's especially the space age pop stuff. This cd has more in common with the music of Esquivel than Glenn Miller. The Sammy Davis Jr inspired "Come Back To Me" is awesome(though they say its Sinatra inspired).Zoot Suit Riot was a hit and has that 90's(Royal Crown Review. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. Brian Setzer) swing sound, however I like the dixieland Louis Prima drenched Cherry Poppin Daddy Strut(I'm a Cherry Poppin Daddy Now), and Here Comes The Snake, which sounds so Sam Butera.Great fun disc!!!For it's unique genere it deserves 5 stars.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good but Questionable
Yeah, this is a good album.I'd like it a WHOLE lot more though if the lyrics weren't so questionable.I'm trying to find a really good swing band [like this one] with good clean lyrics.Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is a good alternative. ... Read more

I think bedouin soundclash is areally good band compared to other bands. Any who doesn't agree sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars AN ALBUM TO LISTEN TO AGAIN AND AGAIN
This is overall an amazing album. I purchased it a while ago after hearing When A Night Feels My Song on the radio. I was blown away by the consistency of the album. Every song is a hit single.
4-0 out of 5 stars Funky Kingston
Kingston, Jamaica? No, mon, that'd be Kingston Ontario. As in Canada. As in wind chill, blizzards, and block heaters. And trust me, when Toots Hibbert sang about a "Funky Kingston" there was nobody getting the two towns mixed up. Yet as unlikely as it may seem - especially given the fact that Bedouin Soundclash played among all the trendy screamo bands on this summer's Warped tour - these Canuck kids do the reggae like they stepped straight outta Trenchtown.

Editorial Review

Most posthumous albums are shrouded in a sense of morbid nostalgia and grim curiosity. In Sublime's case, there was also some cruel irony to contend with: the California nuevo-punk outfit's promising self-titled major-label debut and commercial breakout was released barely a month after frontman Brad Nowell's death from a heroin overdose--and their de facto demise. But such was the Long Beach band's longtime following that raiding the vaults, however sparse, was inevitable. Released 18 months after Nowell's death, Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars what the heck happened?
Dude, this CD has absolutely no good songs on it. The tracks just seem like they were tossed together on the spot without any practice first. Not to say I don't like Sublime though, because I have their debut and it's really good. This CD however is weak and ought not to be purchased.

2-0 out of 5 stars The inevitable leftovers - Buyer beware
The insticnt to cash in on their well-earned reputation as a landmark band of the nineties was perhaps too much for the surviving members of Sublime to resist, hence this release.
5-0 out of 5 stars I never get tired of this...
I have been a Sublime fan for years and I have to say this is my favorite album. It's like an old friend, when you come across it you just get so happy! This is one of those cds you can take out at any time and listen to.Of all the songs, "Badfish" just makes me happy, and I find myself missing it often.I have owned this cd probably ten times and it keeps "disappearing".I am getting ready to order it again because I can't live without it!I am also getting "Sublime" since my husband wants that one again. We have really crappy friends...Not that I blame them. The only thing that I dislike about Sublime is that they won't be making any new albums. This album is worth the $12 or so, it's also worth buying over and over again. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars more horns
When I first bought in with the out crowd I was very dissapointed. It is nothing like Losing Streak. It's a pretty good cd, but it's not less than jake. There is way to much guitar and not enough horns.

3-0 out of 5 stars The self-proclaimed "true fans" are overrating this album... we're now "In With the Pop Crowd", a.k.a. the 14 to 16-year-olds.
I don't know, guys.On track number three, I think something burst in my head and forced my arm to spasm towards the eject button.I put it on my shelf for a while, and now it's been a few months, and I listened to it again.I still think it's their worst album yet.I don't hate them for wanting to change their sound, but they didn't have to go to this extreme.Read on, though, I promise to not totally snub the album. There are a few decent songs on here.I'm not giving up on them yet, but I am a little annoyed with LTJ right now.
4-0 out of 5 stars Best Album Yet
This is, by far, Less Than Jakes best album Since 'Losing Streak'.The albums released between 'Losing Streak' and 'In With the Out Crowd' were, dare I say, boring.Every song on this album has a different sound, but, at the same time, Less Than Jake manages to stay true to their ska roots.Bravo LTJ! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars bout damn time
this isa killer killer killer album..i can't use the word killer enough bout this album...it's about time a band did some classic skinhead reggae....even you don't consider yourself a "reggae" fan...fans of early 60's soul and r&b should definatelly check this out...afterall it's soul and r&b that influenced all early reggae...this album will be a classic!

5-0 out of 5 stars Dirty whusaba? Forget catagorization and just enjoy the music
This is a great CD from a great band. These guys get it ... their focus is making great music and they don't care about whether they are following the corporate/commercial success formula.

4-0 out of 5 stars Their pop album (4.5 stars)
At the time they released Special Beat Service in 1982, the English Beat appeared to be on the verge of a breakthrough. While their first album, I Just Can't Stop It, was a ska classic, and their second album, Wha'ppen?, was very deep into reggae, Special Beat Service toned down those genres in favor of British pop. Dave Wakeling's vocals were more compassionate than ever before and their songs were arguably their strongest overall. However, internal dissention would ultimately break up the English Beat and although several of the band members would later find success with General Public and The Fine Young Cannibals respectively, the excellent songs and performances on Special Beat Service make you wonder how far they could have gone if they were able to keep it together.
5-0 out of 5 stars FEELS GREAT!
It's really hard to keep still when listening to this cd. I've owned it on vinyl, cassette, and cd over the years and it's always put me in a great mood. Friends have always asked about it when they heard it, and subsequently purchased it. Buy it, you won't be dissapointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Save It for Later is perfect and we're just lucky for the rest
Save it for Later is still one of the perfect songs of all time (though the extended versions from later are even better). There's some other great stuff off this album, like Ackee 1-2-3, and I Confess, but the whole album is solid.Actually, all of the Beat albums are solid; if you like any of their songs, I recommend the rest of their catalog to you.But Save it for Later is a special gem, so I recommend this album first. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars So sad Brad is gone, but his genius lives on
I was listening to CD-1 in my room tonight, dancing around inspired and free, and was compelled to write a review.I bought this album about 6 weeks ago (my housemate had been playing Slightly Stoopid, who are reminiscent of Sublime but not nearly of the same caliber) and all of a sudden I rediscovered Sublime and realized just how awesome they were.I had bought the self-titled and Second Hand Smoke CDs back in 1997 and liked some tracks (the popular Badfish, Wrong Way, and What I Got) but rarely played the albums...now I am utterly hooked on Sublime and I wonder why it took me so long, but I'm so glad it finally happened.Brad Nowell was a genius and I'm terribly saddened that he is gone...sometimes I find it hard to listen to Sublime songs because I think of how he is no longer here, and reflect on how the tragedy of his untimely passing cheated the world of further brilliant compositions from him.But then I consider that he would not want listeners to mourn and be sad; he would want his music to be listened to and enjoyed, so he could be remembered for what he created during his time on earth...because that's what he was here to do.He was a Pisces like me - creative, troubled, prone to addiction/negative influences, free-spirited, idealistic, searching for meaning, passionate, not living up to our potential, open and giving.I found the touching tribute his father wrote two days after his death...he said that Brad accomplished more in his short life than many do in a long life - which is very true, but his passing still leaves an immeasurable void in the music world.Brad was one of a kind, innately and fluently talented. What stands out is the improvisational, personal nature of his songs.I prefer CD-1 of Sublime Gold because the songs are more upbeat and danceably fun...CD-2 brings to mind the downward slide of the band, but it's all vital listening.

1-0 out of 5 stars What's The Point???
Don't get me wrong, I think Sublime is a great band and every song on this CD is awesome. But considering that the band only put out 3 albums (not counting the live, acoustic, or rarities albums) wouldn't it make more sense to purchase those 3 albums (40oz, Robbin, self titled) instead of buying this double disc set??

3-0 out of 5 stars It really depends on who you are...
First off let me say that I'm truely amazed that I have only heard of this release 3 months after it came out. Being a huge Sublime fan I'm usually on top of these things but this release seemed to have slipped between the crack. But I digress, onto the review. Here's the main sticking point of this release: If you're a big fan like I am and already have their 6 major releases (40oz. to Freedom, Robbin' the Hood, Sublime, Second Hand Smoke, Stand By Your Van, and Acoustic Bradley Nowell and Friends) there is nothing new here and while the tracks have been remastered there really isn't a great deal of difference between these and the origionals.

4-0 out of 5 stars One of the last documents we will see from the great Bradley Nowell.
Let's face it: Sublime had charisma; they had energy; they had it all, but they weren't exactly the tightest band when it came to live shows. Not that it mattered; Sublime's performances depended upon many things: energy; spontanaeity; and, ultimately, what their audiences gave them in return. But even then, those things didn't elevate the shows to godly heights. Sometimes... well, more than sometimes, Brad was simply off his nut, and all the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't tighten things up as they should have been.
5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST
This is by far the best of Bradley. You can hear him but his heart in every song on this cd. RIP Bradley Nowell

3-0 out of 5 stars Eh definitley not the best...

4-0 out of 5 stars great great great album, but.....!
first, i love this band and this album is a total classic and takes me back a few years. i would put this album on par with rancid 2000 and life wont wait. it defiantely is not as good as out come the wolves and their debut. i dont think any rancid album could be worse than indestructible.
5-0 out of 5 stars Let's go-go-go!!!
I am a Clash fanatic who was tired of the lack of punk music from the 70's and early 80's. I saw Let's Go bought it and put it in my car CD player. I listened to it every day for a week and absolutely loved it. At first I was skeptical but man is it catchy. Some great songs and lyrics if you can understand them. But hey its not about clear vocals....The bas lines are awesome and almost rocka billy in some places but it all works. Classic tracks include Harry Bridges, Salvation, Radio and Nihilism but in a way all the songs have merit. I am still playing this CD on the way to work and it gets me ready for anything the day can bring on. I am glad that even an old punk rocker like myself can still be revved up by music.
5-0 out of 5 stars Rancid's Best, Question about Earlier Post...
to anybody reading this review new to rancid, get this album, along w/ wolves. really if you just think their okay, you could stop collecting their cd's. however if you really like them i suggest getting every album you can from them except maybe Indestructable...i downloaded that one.

4-0 out of 5 stars hooRAY for sugar RAY YAY!!!
listeninjg to sugar ray is one of the best things that ever happened to mankind i like to think of them as the ace of base of the late 90's no one has a greed with me so far but who cares??!! that is just what i think!!!! anyways this collection of songs will save you the trouble of buying all of their albums unless you need to have the cover art and pictures of the band becauise they are all nice looking guys who could teech you alot about what to wear and hoiw to style your hair and make girls really like to be around you and remember your name. my favorite song is the fly song because it always gets the ladies dancing because its a good dancing song especially for ladies who like to dance. if you like sugar ray as more than a friend like my brother who has lots of posters of mark mcgrath in his closet you will porbably like this cd alot and keep it in your cd player for a long timwe until your ready to listen to something else.

5-0 out of 5 stars The REAL Keasbey Nights
I loved Keasbey Nights when it was released in 1998. It was a GREAT album and everytime I listened to it I loved it more and more and more. Then Tomas left and Catch 22 lost their sound. When Tomas left Catch 22 their sound left as well. Then Tomas formed Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution which only released one EP. Then after that Streetlight Manifesto was formed. Everything Goes Numb was the start of a great movement. Then in 2006 I heard word of SM redoing Keasbey Nights which puzzled me a bit but I couldn't wait. Then it finally came out and of course I bought it. Right from the start you can notice that this is not the same album at all. This album is like taking crude oil and refining it into gasoline. Catch 22's Keasbey Nights was crude oil and SM's Keasbey Nights is gasoline. This is the way Keasbey Nights was supposed to sound. Don't listen to others who say "oh this is the same damn CD as Catch 22's there's no difference here I waisted $$$ on this damn thing" f*ck them this CD is not the same. The only thing the same here is the title of the CD, the order of the songs, and the names of the songs. Besides that this is a completely different CD with some added lyrics to some of the songs. I guarantee you won't be disappointed by buying this. I sure as hell know I wasn't. I almost threw out the old Keasbey Nights after buying this it is that good.

5-0 out of 5 stars Obviously clueless.
I've read some reviews of this album that say it's an exact duplicate of the original Keasbey Nights. These people obviously either don't listen well, or they don't understand music. There are so many differences, and I still find some when I listen to the album for the 100th time. The horn lines are nearly all more intricate, the bass on this album is absolutely astounding, there are lyrical alterations, and the solos are beautifully done.
5-0 out of 5 stars dont fix whats not broken
to the guy who said he wished they would have changed more things...why? i can almost assure you if they changed anything extremely noticable people wouldnt like it.

5-0 out of 5 stars sellout schmellout
I would like to start by bringing up a point...(well other than my opinion of this album which is a whole nother point in itself) anyway...a lot of people write this album off because of the departure of the sound from "..and out come the wolves". but for some STRANGE reason you rarely hear anyone complain about the vast sound differences from "lets go" to "..and outcome the wolves"."Lets go" was fast straight up punk rock 21 (or is 22 or 23? i can't remember) tracks..in less than 45 minutes. "..and out come the wolves" was a VERY different album.more mid tempo songs...with a few ska numbers (no waynot ska from the guys who were in op ivy) and at times sounds a lot like the Clash. don't get me wrong i LOVE both these records. Now onto "life won't wait" I absolultely love this record. When i firt picked this upon vinyl back in 1997 I was not really sure what i was hearing. But the more I listened to it, the more it grew on me. Over the years it has become my fav rancid album. It was a good range of a few musical styles straight up fast punk "warsaw" some mid tempo and slower punk songs "something in the world today" "1998" , "hoover st."some up beat ska "hooligans" a rockbailly influenced number "lady liberty" and some great reggae infleunced stuff "coppa de corzo", "awkward position" overall just fantastic...if you're looking for an album that is a lil more than just fast punk rock singing bout drinking, anarchy, and other fairly generic topics (which has it's place) this may not be the album for you..but if you're looking for something a lil different (who am i kidding? 90% of people reading probably already have or even own this record).

5-0 out of 5 stars Rancid's Best Album!
I think Life Won't wait is Rancid's best effort to date. It's almost like Rancid going back to the good ol' Operation Ivy days. Not that this CD sounds like an Op. Ivy CD(cause it doesn't), but I get this strange but comfortable feeling whenever I listen to Op. Ivy's music, and I get that same feeling on a few points of this album.
4-0 out of 5 stars Tis a good one!
1st of all, it's a shame that Rancid had to "prove themselves" after thsi album and what's more a shame is that they FELT they HAD to. To me that borders on selling out. Selling out doesn't have to do with money.

5-0 out of 5 stars sound system brought me back up, yeah
I don't know who couldn't like this CD. This is anything you could ever want by Op Ivy. You won't find trumpets and the like in this CD though. the occasional sax here and there but it's not like catch 22 and those ska type bands. this is pretty much it by op ivy except for one other CD. This was worth every little penny i payed for. there really isn't much else to say. there wasn't a single bad song on the CD and you should just check it out because if you want to get into op ivy this is the place.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's A Good Album, But I Expected A Bit More...
First of all, I really like this album. It's solid, it's original, it's punk, it's ska, what more can you ask for?
5-0 out of 5 stars this album is a classic (sort of)
This is a must-listen. You may not like it, but it is certainly worthy of the praise it gets. I personally don't think it's the "best album ever" but I do think it's better than 95% of music. Even if their songs are a bit simplistic, every song is very very catchy (in a good way).

5-0 out of 5 stars looking for an album to cheer you up?
this is by far the best cd reel big fish has made.there is not a song that i don't like on here.reel big fish can always cheer me up with their uptempo popska.this album ranges from the funny "she has a girlfriend now", to a little aggressive "skatanic", to just plain catchy "sellout" and "trendy."the only people who i know that don't enjoy this album, don't like this kind of music.

5-0 out of 5 stars buy this now!
If you're a fan of ska, you should definitely buy this album. hey, even if you don't like ska you should still buy this because it is just that good. This is probably the greatest reel big fish album ever (although they have never made a bad one).

5-0 out of 5 stars best ska cd ever
In my opinion, this is the best ska cd ever.I was first introduced to Reel Big Fish, like many of us, with the radio success of "sell out" around 1997.Over the years, i forgot about Reel Big Fish as my music choices went down the drain. However, about a year and a half ago, i saw this cd in the record store and picked it up.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good live stuff
This cd is def worth picking up.Winter Tour '05-'06 is a nice live mix of their old and new albums. In addition, the boys get some horns and harmonica into the action on stage.Slightly Stoopid sounds just as good, if not better, live compared to in the studio. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Non Stop Fun!
First released in 1980, The English Beat's (known in the UK simply as The Beat they added the name English to their moniker to avoid confusion with a California based also band called The Beat) "I Just Can't Stop" it is not only possibly the single greatest album of the later 70's/early 80's ska revival, it is one of the greatest album of the late 70's/early 80's punk/new wave scene.
5-0 out of 5 stars This IS the orginal complete album
As has already been noted by one other reviewer, the original release of "I Just Can't Stop It" did not include "Tears of a Clown" or "Ranking Full Stop".These were added to the original U.S. release of the record due to the fact that these UK singles were otherwise unavailable in the U.S.Seeing as how they are compiled on multiple North American releases and were never supposed to be on the record, releasing the original UK version of the album on CD is perfectly justified.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ska done right - this album is so addictive!!!
I'll be honest here - I used to HATE ska. I would go to my local concert hall to see some local musicians and there would ALWAYS be horrible ska bands playing (which is why I hated ska). I had just about given up on the genre when, to my surprise, I hear a sample of The English Beat's "Mirror In The Bathroom" on Coldcut's "Journeys By DJ: 70 Minutes of Madness" (also an excellent album) and was immediately intrigued. Lo' and behold, after I got this album, it was amazing! I never knew ska could be so fun and interesting! Every song here is great and all of them are pretty memorable - everything about them is fantastic. The vocals are very well done here as Dave Wakeling has a very appealing voice. The lyrics are also pretty interesting to listen to as well as catchy - "Mirror In The Bathroom" is but one of many songs that'll get stuck in your head. Musically it sounds like most other ska bands but with a little new wave and college rock thrown in. It's also very well-produced for an album that came out in 1980. Overall this is an album that most people will LOVE, not jsut ska fans. Absolutely recommended!

4-0 out of 5 stars I'm Impressed!
I'm sure you've heard, Long Beach Dub Allstars is not Sublime. In some songs there is little bit of the Sublime style, but just a tiny bit; I didn't expect them to be Sublime either.I expected something totally different from what LBDA really is.And I like them alot more than I thought I would.

5-0 out of 5 stars awesome album
When you buy this, don't expect quite the same as Sublime, but it's still awesome in its own right. Some songs are remniscent of Sublime but there's a lot more dub and reggae. I can't say the singer is quite as good as Bradley but he's still quite good and I love listening to this album on my ipod. It's worth the money just for "Sunny Hours," "Listen to DJ's," and "Lonely End" but the other songs are awesome too and this CD is a hell of a lot better than 99% of the crap they play on the radio. This is one of my newest favorite bands in it
