Masterpiece.
Amazing. I got this for Christmas a few years back and I was sad that it wasn't in my CD player earlier. I was a bit taken back by the first song but once I got into the rest of the disc I had absolutely nothing negative to say. it's incredible right up to the end where brad thanks everyone. i still enjoy just listening to him name drop with a catchy beat in the background. it's a complete shame he died because i'd pay any amount of money to hear these songs genuinely played by sublime. This disc has fast thrash, to slow easy chillin tunes with amazing bass, to almost rap like lyrical songs. if you don't have this CD yet i suggest you take a listen.

this album rules!! sublime rules!!! this and their self-titled albums are their best. too bad that brad died right when they were beginning to take over the world. if you don't have this you need to get this. i have the version with the two later deleted tracks ''rawhide'' and ''get out!'' and i have the version without those 2 tracks and more artwork. both versions are great. The production on this album bothered me for the longest time but this is truly a timeless classic. I don't know how many people realize that Sublime were the real deal. Up until their self-titled album, they were always under produced and best represented live. This music has so much heart though, it is unbelievable. There are more self-proclaimed singles on this CD than there are on the bands self-titled effort. A lot of these songs never saw the "light" we call radio, but songs like 40oz. To Freedom, Smoke To Joints, We're Only Gonna Die For Our Arrogance, Don't Push, 5446, Badfish, and basically the rest of the CD, are all great tunes. Artists like Bob Marley are receiving a lot of attention lately, and it seems to be a trend. Sublime is getting a lot of attention too, and it's okay. Sublime was a band that pioneered a sound. And, during the 90s, they were an out to all the grunge that dominated the era. This is also the only album I hear so many people complaining that they have worn out. Like that's a bad thing. ... Underneath It All
I give this album five stars for the track underneath it all alone. I actually I had never heard of no doubt until a couple of years ago when I heard underneath it all playing on the the radio. Since then I've been all ears ever since.

Just scrapes the surface but still excellent.
I got into No Doubt in 1995.
Get Tragic Kingdom instead.
There are a couple of good songs on here. I love the song Sunday Morning. But then they went and put crappy songs like "Hey Baby" and "Hella Good" on it, and it just went to hell. Plus all of their most overrated songs, which I just am not a big fan of. No Doubt was awesome up until Return Of Saturn, and Gwen's solo career just sucks horribly. ... Read more

If you like RBF you will love this album(s).All their greatest hits and some extensions of Suburban Rhythm (like a Rap, Country, Metal, The Strokes, Disco, and Punk versions)I have this CD through Yahoo's Music Unlimited ToGo service and I am still going to buy this for the DVD.

For the low low price of X dollars you not only get 2 cds (35 songs!) you also get a DVD with tons of extra stuff.Ska may be dead to main stream radio but if you dont' really care about the radio (and i know ya don't because radio is just commercials and crap, but anyways)I saw RBF when they came to my school and that show was amazing, listening/watching this is like reliving one of my favorite shows ever.Ok overall if you like RBF then you should get this because it has every song you like, either on the dvd or cds , and when it comes to live performances RBF sounds even better than on record.Check it and see ... I started reading some of these reviews and the whole "rip-off"/"wannabe" clash thing came up a lot. Yes this record in particular does have a lot of clash influence. but than again were SLF heavily influenced by the clash as well? and weren't the clash influenced by the ramones? then again who wasn't?

Not for the "punk was dead in 1986" types.
First off, to all the jaded and grumpy punk elitists, I feel for you.I really do.Punk is probably the most afflicted of any music genre.But if your sole purpose of writing a review is to "school" the ignorant and tell Rancid fans to listen to Op Ivy and The Descendants and The Ramones and Bad Religion etc, you're wasting your time.

Better then ever!
I've always loved Smash mouth, and this CD is the way to go for all fans. Or even if you're starting out, this is the one to get as it has several tracks on it you can't find on their other cds. such as Mystery Man and Pacific coast party. This is a good cd to get to sample all their works.

They Are All Stars
The 1990's really brought out the waves of pure feel-good party bands. For acts like The Offspring with Pretty Fly For A White Guy, and of course Sugar Ray featuring Mark McGrath and their upbeat track Fly, they have really been the staples of the feel good pop side of music. Smash Mouth is also no acception. During their glory days, mid-90's, and the early 2000's, the group has been really the leaders with making great party songs for everybody. They started right at the top, and still haven't lost their way. Yet, while there are some who have forgotten them, the songs definitely live on.

Rock Steady is really lovely underneath it all.
Rock Steady is a great party album. No Doubt just let their hair down and did the damn thing. No, the music isn't ska, but it still has elements of island, reggae flavor mixed with rock. Their previous album Return of Saturn didn't really grab most people's attention despite being the best album of their career. I still marvel at how much I enjoy Return of Saturn, but I digress. Rock Steady comes one year later, and was met to better fanfare partly because the public was warmed over due to Gwen's solo appearances with Eve and Moby. Also, the music is simpler and catchier, which seems to be what the masses want.
Great CD!
I have had this for 4 years now, and I am not the least bit tired of it. It is catchy, kind of ska, and has Gwen Stefani's very intense writing. But her lyrics are a bit softer in this CD. The music video for "Hey baby" is included on this CD, and it is just about the best music video I have ever seen. It also has a "making of" feature which is fun too. I love singing along to this CD. Gwen Stefani has such a great voice and such a unique sense of style it's hard not to like her. I recommend this CD to grieving No Doubt lovers. And I'm sorry if I wasn't helpful. I don't really care that much; I just want you to buy a good CD.

I have been a fan of No Doubt for over 10 years - This album, though not NEARLY close to thweir best - is great...if you like dancehall reggae and club music.If you are an old school no doubt fan (Beacon street, self titled, etc...) it might take some getting used to.Definately less depressing than Return of Saturn, not as punky as Tragic Kingdom, nothing close to Beacon Street or the self-titled album....

i must agree with paulo. knopper or whatever his name is is definatly a idiot. i can never get enough sublime if it be 40oz to freedom,sublime.second hand smoke,robbin the hood, or anything else i missed. now that i think of it there was this one time me and my roommate got all spun out on lsd and listened to 40oz to freedom 5 times in a row. this is definatly a must have along with the 4 disc box set that comes out in nov.

He probably listens to emo & wears really tight sweaters (wait or is that the 'frat boy' thing to do now? Whatever it's all so confusing) Anyway anyone who knows good music knows Sublime, & if you don't you should. I'm only giving this 4 stars rather than 5 b/c they held out too much on the unreleased tracks, I would have liked there to be more. Still a lot of the tracks particularly on the second disc will probably be new to more casual fans & most people, while the more hardcore are hoping the upcoming box set is released & is mostly new, unheard material. If you don't have the Sublime self-titled I definately recommend this version to the original, I would definately give it a 5 star rating to you if that's your situation. I compared the sound quality of this to the already perfect original & actually they're very similiar if not exactly the same so they didn't go & ruin it w/an overbearing remaster or anything, like corporations sometimes tend to do on these rereleases. So sad Brad is gone, but his genius lives on
I was listening to CD-1 in my room tonight, dancing around inspired and free, and was compelled to write a review.I bought this album about 6 weeks ago (my housemate had been playing Slightly Stoopid, who are reminiscent of Sublime but not nearly of the same caliber) and all of a sudden I rediscovered Sublime and realized just how awesome they were.I had bought the self-titled and Second Hand Smoke CDs back in 1997 and liked some tracks (the popular Badfish, Wrong Way, and What I Got) but rarely played the albums...now I am utterly hooked on Sublime and I wonder why it took me so long, but I'm so glad it finally happened.Brad Nowell was a genius and I'm terribly saddened that he is gone...sometimes I find it hard to listen to Sublime songs because I think of how he is no longer here, and reflect on how the tragedy of his untimely passing cheated the world of further brilliant compositions from him.But then I consider that he would not want listeners to mourn and be sad; he would want his music to be listened to and enjoyed, so he could be remembered for what he created during his time on earth...because that's what he was here to do.He was a Pisces like me - creative, troubled, prone to addiction/negative influences, free-spirited, idealistic, searching for meaning, passionate, not living up to our potential, open and giving.I found the touching tribute his father wrote two days after his death...he said that Brad accomplished more in his short life than many do in a long life - which is very true, but his passing still leaves an immeasurable void in the music world.Brad was one of a kind, innately and fluently talented.What stands out is the improvisational, personal nature of his songs.I prefer CD-1 of Sublime Gold because the songs are more upbeat and danceably fun...CD-2 brings to mind the downward slide of the band, but it's all vital listening.

What's The Point???
Don't get me wrong, I think Sublime is a great band and every song on this CD is awesome.But considering that the band only put out 3 albums (not counting the live, acoustic, or rarities albums) wouldn't it make more sense to purchase those 3 albums (40oz, Robbin, self titled) instead of buying this double disc set??

It really depends on who you are...
First off let me say that I'm truely amazed that I have only heard of this release 3 months after it came out. Being a huge Sublime fan I'm usually on top of these things but this release seemed to have slipped between the crack. But I digress, onto the review. Here's the main sticking point of this release: If you're a big fan like I am and already have their 6 major releases (40oz. to Freedom, Robbin' the Hood, Sublime, Second Hand Smoke, Stand By Your Van, and Acoustic Bradley Nowell and Friends) there is nothing new here and while the tracks have been remastered there really isn't a great deal of difference between these and the origionals.

this band kicks. end of story
This band is the fourth and in my opinion best project tomas kalnoky has been involved with. This album is one of the only albums i can listen to in its entirety and not skip a track. i know the lyrics to every song and some of the beats in a way. its a great album.
A MUST OWN SKA ALBUM
I've had this CD for 3 years now and I never get sick of it. I've seen Streetlight Manifesto in concert twice and they're even better live then on CD. I can't get over this awesome CD. If you think this CD is great then also check out and try to find a band called Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution. It was a side project Tomas did before he formed SM. They even did the song "Here's to Life". Also check out the re-release of Keasbey Nights the SM version. It's the same album as the Catch 22 release but it's done by SM and sounds a LOT better and some songs have extra lyrics to them.

A good preview
These guys are amazing musicians; perfect together - a modern Simon and Garfunkel.This album is pretty good on it's own, basically the best modern rock out there, if you'll call it that.It's hard to call it anything because these guys are totally unique; it's a sound I've been lookin for but haven't found in other artists.Even better are there next two albums, and more diverse.

don't expect to be blown away
As someone else said, FOR FANS ONLY. Do not start at this CD whatever you do. A very layed back listen. A lot of remix dub type songs and it was very rushed. a follow up of the timeless masterpiece "40 oz. to Freedom". From the first song you can tell the CD isn't exactly super melodic and well thought out. it is great though, a lot of catchy tunes, easy listening. you don't have to think about it just cruise. I don't know how to classify sublime they are a whole bunch of genres put together but this CD is good stuff. not a lot of people know about it either. Buy 40 oz to get started but after that this will surely fit right in with the rest of your sublime collection.

this album has some great sublime songs! songs like "saw red" "stepping razor" "greatest hits" and "all you need" are truely great...poolshark isnt that bad either...but many things on this sound too weird and much like a live recording would..with all the voiced talking and stuff like raliegh soliquies..or just demos.

Im a huge sublime and music fan, and this is probably my favorite album by sublime and my fav album of all time. Everything about sublime that i love, (the sloppy, randomness, vast range of musical styles, large amounts of bizarre dubs) is here to behold. I think this album shows more of the personality of Bradley and the band than any of the studio albums, everybody seems like they are having a great time, and I would love to think about Bradley jamming and having fun with lou-dog where ever he is.

sellout schmellout
I would like to start by bringing up a point...(well other than my opinion of this album which is a whole nother point in itself) anyway...a lot of people write this album off because of the departure of the sound from "..and out come the wolves". but for some STRANGE reason you rarely hear anyone complain about the vast sound differences from "lets go" to "..and outcome the wolves"."Lets go" was fast straight up punk rock 21 (or is 22 or 23? i can't remember) tracks..in less than 45 minutes. "..and out come the wolves" was a VERY different album.more mid tempo songs...with a few ska numbers (no waynot ska from the guys who were in op ivy) and at times sounds a lot like the Clash. don't get me wrong i LOVE both these records. Now onto "life won't wait" I absolultely love this record. When i firt picked this upon vinyl back in 1997 I was not really sure what i was hearing. But the more I listened to it, the more it grew on me. Over the years it has become my fav rancid album.It was a good range of a few musical styles straight up fast punk "warsaw" some mid tempo and slower punk songs "something in the world today" "1998" , "hoover st."some up beat ska "hooligans" a rockbailly influenced number "lady liberty" and some great reggae infleunced stuff "coppa de corzo", "awkward position" overall just fantastic...if you're looking for an album that is a lil more than just fast punk rock singing bout drinking, anarchy, and other fairly generic topics (which has it's place) this may not be the album for you..but if you're looking for something a lil different (who am i kidding? 90% of people reading probably already have or even own this record).

Rancid's Best Album!
I think Life Won't wait is Rancid's best effort to date. It's almost like Rancid going back to the good ol' Operation Ivy days. Not that this CD sounds like an Op. Ivy CD(cause it doesn't), but I get this strange but comfortable feeling whenever I listen to Op. Ivy's music, and I get that same feeling on a few points of this album.
Tis a good one!
1st of all, it's a shame that Rancid had to "prove themselves" after thsi album and what's more a shame is that they FELT they HAD to. To me that borders on selling out. Selling out doesn't have to do with money.

Totally Unique
You will not find another band like Slightly Stoopid. You can put them in the same category as bands like 311 and Sublime, but they have a style all their own. And as any person with a good taste in music will tell you, their style is impossible to hate. I've played this CD for a person who ONLY listens to country and she loves it. It's a brilliant mix of ska, reggae, and punk. I also highly recommend their newer CD Closer To The Sun. Get this CD if you want your summer to have the perfect soundtrack.

Everything You Need
Slightly Stoopid is one of my favorite bands, and their album, Everything you Need is definatley my favorite album.It is an upbeat mix of reggae and punk. This CD is fresh, the band plays more reggae and less punk now but they hold true to their punk roots. Their previous CD was an acoustic only, which was a nice change from the usual loud instruments and rock star attitude. One of their songs is repeated on their acoustic CD and on Everything you Need. The song, Wiseman is very different when listened to plugged and unplugged. With the different instrumental accompaniments, the singer, Miles Doughty's, voice is really showcased well. It is hard to describe his voice, though it is very unique. It has a calming effect. I have personally seen them live and they put on a spectacular show. When you listen to the lyrics, you think all they talk about are drugs and having a good time. But if you listen closer, the lyrics are about more than just that. They talk about brotherhood and love from a different angle. Their fun reggae rhythm and rhymes mixed with their upbeat punk style and imagery make them an interesting band to listen to. I cannot wait to see what the future holds in store for the band. As I said before, I have seen them live and I will not miss them if they come through town again. The best way I can describe the band is 311 sound of music with more of Sublime's lyrics, and the Rancids hair. My second favorite album is their newest one it is on the top of my shopping list. ... more horns
When I first bought in with the out crowd I was very dissapointed. It is nothing like Losing Streak. It's a pretty good cd, but it's not less than jake. There is way to much guitar and not enough horns.

The self-proclaimed "true fans" are overrating this album... we're now "In With the Pop Crowd", a.k.a. the 14 to 16-year-olds.
I don't know, guys.On track number three, I think something burst in my head and forced my arm to spasm towards the eject button.I put it on my shelf for a while, and now it's been a few months, and I listened to it again.I still think it's their worst album yet.I don't hate them for wanting to change their sound, but they didn't have to go to this extreme.Read on, though, I promise to not totally snub the album.There are a few decent songs on here.I'm not giving up on them yet, but I am a little annoyed with LTJ right now.
Best Album Yet
This is, by far, Less Than Jakes best album Since 'Losing Streak'.The albums released between 'Losing Streak' and 'In With the Out Crowd' were, dare I say, boring.Every song on this album has a different sound, but, at the same time, Less Than Jake manages to stay true to their ska roots.Bravo LTJ! ... listeninjg to sugar ray is one of the best things that ever happened to mankind i like to think of them as the ace of base of the late 90's no one has a greed with me so far but who cares??!! that is just what i think!!!! anyways this collection of songs will save you the trouble of buying all of their albums unless you need to have the cover art and pictures of the band becauise they are all nice looking guys who could teech you alot about what to wear and hoiw to style your hair and make girls really like to be around you and remember your name. my favorite song is the fly song because it always gets the ladies dancing because its a good dancing song especially for ladies who like to dance. if you like sugar ray as more than a friend like my brother who has lots of posters of mark mcgrath in his closet you will porbably like this cd alot and keep it in your cd player for a long timwe until your ready to listen to something else.

Not what I expected!
I always find myself singing songs in the car but didn't know a lot were Sugar Ray until recently.I was pleased when I came across the Best of Sugar Ray CD that included some of my favorite radio hits such as Every Morning, Fly, Someday,When It's Over, and Is She Really Going Out With Him?I purchased the CD from a local retailer and anxiously played it.I was very disappointed with the album.
