More than I ever Expected
When I bought Plea for Peace ... it turned out to be one of the best albums i have. it is a great value, has a great message and has great songs on it.

Good, not Great
i like the message a lot, cause Asian Man's one of my fav. labels. But from a music stand point, some songs aren't as good as others, which drags the cd down.The slow gherkin song,"tap dancing", which i havent seen or heard before, has some bad recording. non-ska or punk songs are present as well; Astropop3's "So happy" (whos song is almost too catchy), Polysics "Hot stuff"(sorta punk, but with electronics thrown in, the coolest song on the cd), Pushover "Tell me why"(not really ska or punk, but sorta). The best tracks are: Skankin pickle- "pabu boy", Link 80's "intolerance", and many many more. With the addition of Suburban Home Records atht the end, this is still well worth your [money].

SNIPER RULES

The Brassknuckles
Well, the only reason I got this CD was to have the Brassknuckles song on there. They were a band from the Boston area and I liked them, but they never had an EP or anything.(They broke about a year ago.) I found out that this is the only album theyre on. After getting it...I found that ALL the bands on here are good. Its a must for and street punks or skinheads.

Great Oi Album

Ewww pretty lame stuff
Thankfully Amazon lets you sample this stuff online, because these covers are pretty lame. About the only one I enjoyed was the Vapors tune remake, the rest if I bought this disc I know I would never listen to. Much prefer the originals and the whole idea of a cover is to be different and I guess they are but not in a way that I want to listen to it. It's just like all the covers being rehashed on Pop 40 radio with No Doubt doing Talk Talk's "It's My Life" (at first I thought it was Madonna), and someone else did a Cure hit recently that charted well, it's like oh you poor people that don't know how good the ORIGINAL versions are! I asked an early 80's "Retro" DJ at a radio station to play "Smash it Up" by The Damned, he said "what the song done by The Offspring?". He lost all credibility after that point. Just get the original stuff and be much happier.

this is awsome
oh my god how cool is this. i never thought i could listen to some of my favorite songs and listen to my favorte kind of music at the same time.yes i admit it i love the originals of these songs. come on i grew up with my parents listening to rod stewert, the culture club, and who ever sings the original pretty in pink(it has slipped my mind but i know i have the record down here some place). any way this is one of the best cds i own.

Fun for the 80's Dwellers
If you remember the eighties, which you should, you will enjoy this album.As a punk fan and a 80's retro freak I was delighted by the songs and the way they were redone for this cd.The songs are all old standby favorites and the bands who cover them are some of the brightest stars in modern punk pop.If you are a fan of bands such as MXPX then this album will fit into your collection well.If you are more of a Minor Threat listener you will be better off skipping this one.Grab this one and think of the years gone by when a mullet was still cool.If you feel real retro grap a copy on tape...how old will that make you feel?! ... Deep elm records really knows what is up.
Even though some may say Deep Elm is cashing in on Emo, no one can deny the content of the Emo Diary comps.Strongest tracks are those by Jimmy Eat World and Emo rock purveyors Samiam.

a good introduction
Emo is a word I don't like to use to describe music.Classifying music isn't fair to the artist or to the songs they've put out.But, if you're interested in this kind of music (emo/post-hardcore/indie/etc.) then thisis a good comp to get.There are a couple bands I knew ahead of time(Jimmy Eat World and Samiam), but then I found some very pleasent surprises(especially Pohgoh).If you can, I suggest you find their full length (onOutback Records). Overall, this comp does a decent job of showing the widevariety of music being put out by a bunch of young bands.

great emo-core/indie compilation from known/unknown bands
This disc is a must-have compilation of bands on deep elm and some bigger labels. the bigger bands on this are triplefastaction, jimmie eat world, and samiam, but there isn't a bad song on here. check out lazycain and thetriplefast songs. i don't own numbers 2 and 3 yet, but believe me, i'mgetting them as soon as i have the money. if you like emo, or if you wantan introduction, or you just want to listen to some really intense stuff,get this. ... A great little compilation.
Well, it would be hard for me to review this without getting all preachy on you, but I'll try. When I got into punk rock, I started to question stuff, and meat production was indeed one of them. I read up on why people believed meat was wrong, and decided that it was a good thing. I still didn't make any move to do anything about it.
Try something different
This is a great cd.I am very new to the 'punk' genre of music (if you like) and this was a great introductory cd.I enjoyed the diverse mix of music from bands like the faint, goldfinger, good charlotte, the eyeliners and desaparecidos.I would recommend this cd to anyone who is new to this kind of music or who is already familiar with it as there are acoustic versions of songs as well as some that I believe are b-sides.It's cheap, charitable and good to listen to.

Everyone you want on one album
There are a ton of these comps out there, but this one is my new favorite. The tracks by Good Charlotte and Midtown are cool acoustic versions. The song by The Used is sweet, and one I'd never heard before. Bigwig is my all time favorite band, I hope this CD brings them the attention they deserve. And if you are a Conor Oberst fan, you have to buy it just for the Desaparecidos track. It flows well, and has good variety without anything too weird stuck in the middle. ... Read more

the way it used to be...
I've never been a huge fan of compilations... Too many different bands usually imply too many different musical styles... The result? Albums with no solid identities.
Not Bad
This is the compilation that was being talked about in the HC scene for years. It's an history of NYHC (88 era). All great band but except for one - Youth Defense League, a skinhead pro-america nazist bands and that's the bad part of this compilation.

A little dissapointed
They're are some good hardcore bands on here like Gorilla Biscuits , SickOf It All , Youth Of Today , but the songs they have choosen aren't reallyeach bands best. I thought it was cool to hear the bands in their earlierperiods though. But this is the last time I buy a comp CD. ... Read more

The New York Dolls refused to play CBGB's
Yes but they are on this compalation. The New York Dolls are not punk and neither are the velvet underground. The new york dolls are a rock and roll band the velvet underground are a experimental rock and roll band. to call them punk is embarrising i think punk is the most overated thing ever. Like good music stop labling the New York Dolls never labled themselves punk and hated it pretty much hence the song lonon boys.

Probably THE best intro to American punk
The best & most surprising thing about this comp is what's included. Essential garage bands such as the Seeds, the Sonics and 13th Floor Elevators- usually limited to "Pebbles" style 60s punk samplers- are finally included on this "official" history along side the Velvets, the Stooges, the Dolls and the Ramones. This CD Changed My Life
Yes, I used to listen to faggot frat boy bands like Linkin Park and Trapt, but when I listened to some good old metalcore, this changed my life. Most of the tracks are great. I'm not into Open Hand, and the singing on that Most Precious Blood song throws it off. Bleeding Through's good songs are on this record, and you can't go wrong with classic Poison The Well. Throwdown, Eighteen Visions, Hopesfall and Nora are great as well. However, I wish they put a Most Precious Blood song off "Nothing In Vain", an Eighteen Visions song off "Until The Ink Runs Out" and a Walls of Jericho song off "The Bound Feed The Gagged". Otherwise, this is a great retrospective throughout the Trustkill years.

very awesome hardcore
this is some very good hardcore. if you have a very good stereo system, and a good pair of ears, you can hear what influenced pro-pain, old sepultura(with max), rage against the machine(before zach left), napalm death, and the Christian band hangnail. there isn't a bad apple in the bunch.

The best compilation Punk CD ever!
I won this CD and I stuck it into my CD player excpecting marginal, run of the mill, punk.What I got was some of the best underground old-school punk that can be found anywhere.It took a little getting used to-- even the Pennywise and Guttermouth tracks sound different from most of their stuff. But in the end, every track except for two is out of this world.That's 25 great tracks-- well worth the price.A lot of these bands are pretty underground and can't really be found anywhere else.Buy this CD now if you like punk.You'll never take this CD out of your player. ... Slammin' Progressive Trance
Though permanently scarred from most of the ... progressive trance in the Global Underground series (save Darren Emerson's Uruguay and Sasha's Ibiza), I thought I might give Progressive another chance. And wow, was I impressed! I had heard two tracks previously on other compilations: Stage One's Space Manouevres (Northern Exposure: Expeditions) and MRE's The Deep Edge (Sasha's Ibiza). I was hoping to find similar creative pieces of progressive trance. This trance is truly exciting and never lapses into dullness as it does so many times in a lot of other progressive trance. From the ethereal vocal tracks of Katcha's Touched by God, to the odd Movin' Thru Your System samples to the brilliantly composed classic Space Manouveres, this cd is brilliant.

Classic Progressive House Album...Indeed
Writing a review that's 2-3 years late, it'll do greater justice to this album by adopting a retrospective approach. Indeed, some of the tracks in this album may have passed their "sell-by" dates.However, for those who have been in the progressive house scene for the past few years, this album tugs at your heartstrings, evoking vague images of those high paced crazy club nights.
