4-0 out of 5 stars Great ... not so great for greatest hits
I first would like to say I am not an avid fan of The Offspring but I was familier with some of their songs. This album really should contain more songs, especially since the one disc can hold many more. That being said, all the songs on here are great, but I do expect a little more from a greatest hits album ... Where is Bad Habit?

4-0 out of 5 stars Offspring Rocks!!!
And so does this compilation. It has most of their hits and features 1 previously unreleased song, a song that was previously only available on a soundtrack, a remix of the "The Kids Aren't Alright"(atleast the european version has it) plus a hidden track! Ofcourse you could say that there could have been more songs on it and some essential songs are missing, but thats the nature of greatest hits compilations. There isn't a single greatest hits compilation out there that doesn't suffer from the same problems. And the songs that are on it are all either good or great so you can't go wrong with this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Offspring, Greatest Hits
Excelent CD, wonderful songs!Absolutly, the "greatest hits"I would reccomend this product to anyone who likes punk music.Quality of product was excelent, and i was overall very impressed with this purchase overall. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The Only Rise Against You'll Need
Revolutions Per Minute is probably the only great Rise Against album. I don't have their new album or the one that came out before it, but the band seems to keep making music that sounds exactly the same on each album. The reason this album is their best is because their musical formula works very well on this album. The opening track, "Black Masks And Gasoline" is pretty good and gives the listener an idea of the kind of emotion and lyrics that will fill the rest of the album. Other stand out tracks are Broken English, Voices Off Camera, and To The Core. To The Core is a really short but very violent piece of music; Voices Off Camera is a catchy track, and Broken English is one of Rise Against's best songs. If you like this album, you'll like their other albums, but this one is all you need. Their other albums contain music that sounds just like this, just not as good in terms of lyrics and instrumentation. I think that after this album, Rise Against went down the path to mediocrity.

5-0 out of 5 stars Like the Angel, that you are! MASTERPIECE- 9 Stars
This is my second favourite CD of all time behind FFAF and also my second favourite band. THis CD is so killer and every track on this thing is amazing and a masterpiece on it's own. Like the angel and black masks and gasoline are my two favourite songs of this but every song is good. If you are a fan of cool punk of the street, pick this up and put wind breaker on, prepare to be blown away.
5-0 out of 5 stars Darn Good!
This CD may be the best one they ever sell. "The Unraveling" is good, but a little too hard rock for me (you should still get it), and "Siren Song of the Counter Culture" is too much of softer rock. Here is a list of the songs and their ratings: Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Cartel, meet wastebasket
It has sat patiently -- and, thank God, quietly -- in the house for a year, and today was the day it got it's spin and the only thing I can think of is, 'gentlemen, please find day jobs.'

1-0 out of 5 stars Ripped off
I was misled and thought I was buying the entire cd and it contains one song.

2-0 out of 5 stars Standard pop rock with some highlights but ultimately unrealized
The first time I heard Cartel, I was unimpressed.I sighed as it felt like stale bread being served to me for supper. The single "Honestly" is definitely catchy and there are some songs that I guess you can sing along to.Is it a rewarding music experience?Definitely not.

If you like the offspring buy this album. All of their best songs are on it and it comes in dual disk which has a dvd too

5-0 out of 5 stars Bbest part of this collection is that they skipped any filler
I think we can all agree that the only good Offspring songs are the one's they play on the radio. Finally you can have them all on one CD. The best part of this collection is that they skipped any filler, such as rare or new tracks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Faster Than A Speeding Bullet
The first time I saw the Ramones was at a rehearsal studio in NYC, opening for the Fast. Nobody had ever heard of them. They stepped on stage and started playing. Faster than any band I'd ever heard. Johnny was ripping at his guitar so viciously he sliced his thumb and sprayed everyone in the first row with blood. He never stopped. Or even winced. Joey wrapped himself around the mic (not in a sexy Jim Morrison kind of way, but like a catepillar.) Dee Dee counted off every song 1,2,3,4! It was the lyrics more than the speedy riffs - "I don't wanna walk around with you, why do you wanna walk around with me?" "Beat on the brat with a baseball bat." "Carbona! Not glue!" Jaws dropped. Are they kidding? Is this a joke? Who ARE these guys? The club scene was new in NYC in the mid-70's. You couldn't NOT see the Ramones play live. They just got better & better, faster & louder. The songs stick in your head like glue. 30+ years later, they remain one of a kind. The smartest dumb band ever. RIP Joey, Dee Dee, Johnny!

4-0 out of 5 stars This is a great compilation/intro to Joey and the gang
First of all, let me clear up something. This is by not by any means a perfect Greatest Hits CD.As one reviewer said, about half this CD is incredible and the 2nd half is mediocore. But this is only a byproduct of Johnny's attempt to make the CD broader in musical scope and a more career-spaning effort, and I think this is an important thing for any GH CD to try and do.Even though I don't really like any songs past "The KKK Took My Baby Away," I appreciate what Johnny tried to do here.
5-0 out of 5 stars RAMONES PLAY HEAVY METAL
The Ramones aren't a punk band. They are a hard rock heavy metal band. And all the songs on this album are heavy metal style. Joey

5-0 out of 5 stars Test of time proves, for me, this is a most original and compelling work
Crushing, swirly guitar distortion, half-comprehensible lyrics, the juxtaposition of quiet and loud --this album is a low-fi alt-rock masterpiece.YLAOM made me want to learn guitar tricks and made me want to be an underappreciated rock star.
5-0 out of 5 stars My DinoJR favourite
This record is the best example of Dinosaur JR beautiful noise art. Along with the little less inferior Bug, this was much more Sonic Youth or My Bloody Valentine country than Seattle grunge that took over his last albums, especially because of musical press, hungry for new grunge icons (they did it with Sonic Youth Dirty as well). This noise fest is complete with Mascis and Barlow 70's influences, like Alex Chilton, Neil Young or 60's like Grateful Dead. In this melting pot, combining noise roots with 80's avant-garde noise, you get a soulful pack of noise melodic songs, unbeatable ear candy. 5 stars guarantee.

5-0 out of 5 stars Am emotionally charged sonic assault
This record blew me away the first time I listened to it; and it still does today. I've always love Punk/Hard-Core/Noise music, but this album was a revitalizing breath of fresh air. Dinosaur broke the mold and proved that emotionally based music didn't have to be melodramatic or wimpy - or that Punk had to be mindless or unfeeling. A good analogy for this music would be, like rubbing salt in to a festering wound. The guitar work is inventive and brilliant; pushing the sonic envelope. It's very heavy, yet melodic and sometime almost ethereal. The solo on 'Kracked' literally sounds like a cat fight. 'Poledo' is a very interesting song; it's very lo-fi and as a result it obtains an almost surreal quality - like a soundtrack for an acid trip. I can not listen to just one or two tracks - I have to listen to the whole thing. There isn't too many album I can say that about. This album makes my 'Top 20 Albums of All Times List'; right up there with Floyd's 'The Wall' or The Rolling Stone's 'Sticky Fingers'. This album is raw, edgy and sometimes poorly produced, but that's what makes it so beautiful. Sadly though, this was the watermark for Dinosaur. It went down hill after this. 'Bug', the follow-up album was really great, but other than their 7" singles (which can be found on the 'Fossils' album), I never cared for the solo J. Mascis version of Dinosaur. Now that the group has reunited, I hope that they will produce another masterpiece like "Your Living All Over Me'. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Albums Ever
Please get this album. You will like it.
5-0 out of 5 stars Chairs Missing is incredible; and if you don't have it, you really should
In 1978, being qualified as "the Pink Floyd of the New Wave" might have come across as something of an insult; and by today's artistic strategies of rampant revivalism such a pithy remark may ring true to many a listener. That statement was, in fact, the critique prescribed to Chairs Missing, Wire's second album, as the album decelerated the pogo punk minimalism found on their first album with an increasing use of experimental production. In hindsight, Chairs Missing is the perfect transition between the high-strung velocity of Pink Flag and the staggering gloominess of 154; yet most transition records have a clunkiness about them, like a lanky teenager not quite able to fit into his sunday best. But Chairs Missing is miles above the average transition album.

3-0 out of 5 stars Almost worth it for one song
Maybe there are some gems I haven't discovered, but the versions of "Holiday In Cambodia" and "California Uber Alles" are honestly inferior to the originals on "Fresh Fruit."
4-0 out of 5 stars Insight
Sure, Jello's voice takes some getting used to, but honestly; what punk fan isn't sick of the same ol' raspy voice mumbling unintelligibly?Jello's insight as well as his voice provide interest in a genre where the message is often lost in translation.
1-0 out of 5 stars fresh fruit for rotting vegetables is all you really need by DK
maybe frankencrist if you really enjoy fresh fruit....this is a very annoying and bad b-sides album...california uber alles and holiday in cambodia are over-produced and watered down...and where is the killer intro to holiday in cambodia?

4-0 out of 5 stars Good...but not great
I dont really see much reason in buying this if you have their other stuff. You need static age for in the doorway anyhow, and you need walk among us cuz its not included here; so theres two cds right there you would have to buy.legacy of brutality is on this set, but the only song good on there is american nightmare, we already have the other songs in better versions.spook city usa is the only song on here that is not on other albums.cd 3 is just a bunch of crappier versions of the great songs we all like.although she is played with a keyboard instead of a guitar which is kinda cool.get static age, walk among us, collection 1 and 2 and maybe legacy of brutality if you want american nightmare and thats all you need.evilive is awesome because you get to hear glenn talk between songs.

5-0 out of 5 stars The almost complete Misfits!
This box is actually much better than most of these reviewers say. It has all their albums except "Walk Among Us"(Different label) but it has demos and alternate versions of most of the songs from that album(Mostly on the two "Collections"). The songs on "Collections 1 and 2" that were taken from "Earth A.D." are left off to avoid repetition, except the "Die, Die.." single, which is still on the "Collection" disc, but no longer on "Earth A.D.". The "Sessions" material is all unreleasedalternate versions, but at least it is noted as such. The Cough-Cool/She single is here in it's original version on the "Sessions" disc, as well as the re-recorded versions, on the "Collections". "Static Age" is missing two songs. "She" is still on "Collection 1", and the alternate version of "Spinal Remains" is still on "Legacy Of Brutality". Otherwise, everything is intact, other than the song-swapping "Earth A.D." material. The best thing is that there is far less repetition than if you get these albums separately! Enjoy!!

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the greatest collections of classic punk ever
the Misfits were in my opinion, one of the greatest and most unique punk bands, from an era when "punk" was the real deal. these days, young punk bands are a dime a dozen. the whole scene seems to be saturated with the watered down, weak, no substance crap that is passed off as good music. please... give me a f*ckin break. the Misfits were probably THE best punk band to ever come out of New Jersey. and this box-set is nothing less than a treasure chest, a goldmine of unearthed Misfits gems (some released, some unreleased) packaged in a neat little coffin box. and forget about Jerry Only's 90's & 21st century version of the Misfits. this box set proves that when they were Glenn Danzig's band, back in the late 70's & early 80's, this was when they created their most timeless, classic horror-punk anthems. you can't beat this stuff. no one can. not Jerry Only, not even Danzig himself. to all the kiddies out there: listen, and learn. ... Editorial Review

These Austin punks spent a decade playing underground clubs and sleeping on floors next to the cat-litter box before scoring an unlikely commercial breakthrough with this 1996 album. The key to the highway was the modern-rock radio hit "Pepper," a novelty rap tune that reinvents Lou Reed's "Walk on the Wild Side" from the perspective of postpunk nihilism, Texas-style. Another rock-rap track, "The Lord Is a Monkey," grafts a lyrical nod to Snoop Dogg over a mutilated Jimi Hendrix guitar lick. The rest of the album alternates pop-punk rave-ups ("Ulcer Breakout," "Ah Ha") with noisy acid freak-outs ("My Brother's Wife," "Space"). The Buttholes have not released an album since Electric Larryland. But it's all right, Ma, they're only bleeding. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't help loving it.
Yes, this album does not compare to any other BS release, but it is truly a classic on it's own merits. They decided to write songs in the standard format this time around; what most people like to refer to as "selling out", I call it "stretching out",and they did thier usual excellent job of it. If you like this you probably won't like thier other works and vice versa but I think it stands up just as well as any of thier albums just in a completely different genre. Songs of note: "Jingle Of A Dog's Collar", "Cough Syrup", "The Lord Is A Monkey", all of them really. An all-time personal fave.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Stuff for the whole family
I love how Me First and the Gimme Gimmes put a punk rock twist on some good classic tunes. Whats more surprsing is that my mom and my step dad love them too. Scary huh? These guys are great, they make songs rock and more fun than they were before.

5-0 out of 5 stars Me First and The Gimme Gimmes
Punk reworking of standard rock classics and show tunes is OUTANDING.The vocals and guitar work are great as is the sense of humor the boys put into the album Good stuff!Great for parties.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun idea - Hilarious Song Selection
These guys surely did "Have A Ball" putting this recording together. The idea's a great one, and the song selection is so twisted that it either had to turn out GREAT or fail terribly.Luckily it is the former, and being a musician myself I would have loved to have been in the studio for these sessions.I'm sure it was a party start to finish! The only reason it didn't get a 4-star rating from me is the fact, that for me, it isn't something that would stay in the CD player for long periods of time. But it is a great idea carried out very well by what sounds like a bunch of fun lovin' guys! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Crash my car everyday the same way...
I find it amusing when people say, I like this CD but War All The Time/City By the Light Divided is better. This is the Thursday CD that I fell in love with when I first started listening five years ago. When you listen to this CD, you kind of have to forget WATT and City... because of the way their sound has progressed.I think what draws me most to Thursday is the deep and intricately woven lyrics that Geoff produces. When I first listened to Understanding... I hated it.But it grew on me because of the lyrics more than the sound. If you are a Thursday fan, you need to own this CD.

4-0 out of 5 stars Love it.
"Full Collapse" is an album that is definitely worth listening to. There's not much to say about it other than that.
5-0 out of 5 stars Wide range and best of their releases
Even though they have released two albums since Full Collapse, I still find myself coming back to Thursday's first major album. Full Collapse is just the most polished of the three, while War All The Time and A City By The Light Divided are much messier and much more charged emotionally. Full Collapse keeps the energy in check, and also encompasses a variety of different styles within the album. Each song is distinguishable, and thankfully Thursday had the mind to seperate the songs that were similar from each other on the album. That said, the tracks that stand out are the two singles: Understanding in a Car Crash, Cross Out the Eyes, and also A Hole in the World, Standing on the Edge of Summer, and Paris in Flames ... 5-0 out of 5 stars sound system brought me back up, yeah
I don't know who couldn't like this CD. This is anything you could ever want by Op Ivy. You won't find trumpets and the like in this CD though. the occasional sax here and there but it's not like catch 22 and those ska type bands. this is pretty much it by op ivy except for one other CD. This was worth every little penny i payed for. there really isn't much else to say. there wasn't a single bad song on the CD and you should just check it out because if you want to get into op ivy this is the place.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's A Good Album, But I Expected A Bit More...
First of all, I really like this album. It's solid, it's original, it's punk, it's ska, what more can you ask for?
5-0 out of 5 stars this album is a classic (sort of)
This is a must-listen. You may not like it, but it is certainly worthy of the praise it gets. I personally don't think it's the "best album ever" but I do think it's better than 95% of music. Even if their songs are a bit simplistic, every song is very very catchy (in a good way).

5-0 out of 5 stars Satisfyingly subtle deviation from mainstream metal
The quickest summary for this album is probably Incubus meets metalcore. There are roaming heavy riffs along with vocals somewhat reminiscent of Incubus' Science. Its hard to ignore the vocal style associated with Incubus.
5-0 out of 5 stars Now That's More Like It!
Protest The Hero really have something going for them. Not only are they unbelievably talented musicians (and this is only their first full length), on a pretty big indie label (Vagrant Records), and writing highly addictive music, but there is absolutely no band out there that I can possibly compare their sound too. Now sure there are a lot of people that throw around claims quite often that this band or that band "sounds like no one else!", and in reality the said band isn't all that special or unique, but with Protest the Hero this claim is most definitely the case. While today's music world sees more combining of musical styles than playing to traditional standards, PTH are clearly ahead of the pack in many ways.
5-0 out of 5 stars Absolute musical insanity.
The first time I listened to this album I wasn't that impressed...and after a few days it all came to me. Bueatiful guitar riffs, personal and thoughtful lyrics began to spring forth from my cd player. This cd is amazing. The most impressive part of this cd is that the members are only 19 and phenominal talented for their age. If you like fast riffs, insane drums and deeply meaningful lyrics, this album is for you. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars BOOHOO
Once again another emo band whining about how terrible life is. We don't want to hear it!!! Keep it to yourselves, you wimps. Why do emo bands exist to begin with. They write about how messed up their life is when basically everybodies life is messed up. We've all got problems. But we don't have to put it in music so the rest of the world has to listen to it. SHUT UP!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars People like what they like
I liked this album but I like a lot of music. If you're only into metal then you probably won't like this album. If you think Hawthorne Heights (or any of the other bands that are often metioned with them) is an emo whinning baby then you probably won't like this album.
5-0 out of 5 stars The best band ever

5-0 out of 5 stars DOCUMENTO EXPLOSIVO E IRREPETIBLE!!!!
ESTA EDICION ,QUE GUARDA LAINCANDESCENTE ACTUACION DE MC5, DEBE SER UNO DE LOS TESTIMONIOS EN VIVO MAS CREIBLES DE TODA UNA EPOCA, MUY PARTICULAR, POR CIERTO... LA CRUDEZA, DESPROLIJIDAD Y CREDIBILIDAD DE ESTE SONIDO REALMENTE ERIZA LA PIEL...ES COMO HABER ESTADO AHI..EN ESE PRECISO INSTANTE DONDE DOS GUITARRAS DESQUICIADAS DESMORONAN CONVENCIONALISMOS QUE LAMENTABLEMENTE HOY SIGUEN PRESENTES... ES LA EXPLOSION DE UN VOLCAN QUE LUEGO SE APAGARIA PARA SIEMPRE, PERPETUANDONO ERUPCIONES SINO ERUPTOS QUE TOMARIAN LA FORMA DEL PUNK ROCK.....

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Hard Rock
This is insane for 1968. Comparable to Motorhead, and years ahead of it's time. It would definately give Lemmy a run for his money, and even many modern alternative artists such as Disturbed don't even compare to the ridiculous hardness of the MC5. Rock On!

5-0 out of 5 stars Pure genius -- but not punk!
The only reason I mention the fact that this is not punk -- I was there at the Electric Circus in Manchester, England in 1977 to see the Stranglers, the Damned, and many others -- is that it might put people off who would otherwise be amazed by this album. I once managed to convert a rabid Ted Nugent fan, for example. Punk is essentially speedball thrash (in a good way!), but this is akin to Led Zep and the Who (the MC5 supported them at a Toronto gig in 1968: sheer musical mayhem!). The MC5 were not a Nuggets-style band (and again, I have no problem with such bands), but heavily influenced by the likes of boundary-pushing jazz giants like John Coltrane and Sun Ra (in fact, there's a Sun Ra piece on this very album). The true "soul brothers" of this all-time classic are the Who's heaven-storming Young Vic live album (Who's Next deluxe edition), Live at Leeds, Albert Ayler's Live in Greenwich Village, and Peter Brotzmann's Machine Gun.

2-0 out of 5 stars Another Pro-Establishment Railing
I really liked this band from the Suffer and No Control days.I drove my mother nuts with Against the Grain.....then I stopped being an apathetic moron and realized that this band is nothing more than a willing tool of the establishment. The establishment that has ruined our schools, ruined our justice system, ruined our popular culture, ruined the way we are perceived around the world which is basically a bunch of pierced and tattooed twits, drunk on MTV, Oprah and reality television who get offended by everything that is said to them but yawn when dictators tell their people that they should all spend everyday working to destroy the people of the West....innocent or not.
4-0 out of 5 stars Bad Religion has still got it.
I love this album. It may have a semi-pop sound but I dont mind because Lyricaly nothing else in newer punk comes close to being this profound. It is also just great to see a band that is still recording after all theese years and is still as politicaly relivant as they have ever been. Good punk music isnt just about being loud and fast because if you sound hardcore but have nothing to say you might as well join a metal band and sing about nothing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great music is 'all there is' to this album.
I really don't understand how someone could NOT like this CD. I'd put "The Empire Strikes First" among my top 10 favorite CDs of all time. Although I may not agree with the message that Bad Religion is trying to send, I certainly love their music. One of the reasons why this band is so great is because almost none of their songs are similar to each other. These guys have been coming up with new material for almost two decades, and it's always interesting and fun to listen to. It's going to be very difficult, but I will try and select my favorites of this album below :

2-0 out of 5 stars Just more product.
One needs only two Sex Pistols' albums: "Never Mind the Bollocks" and "Rock n Roll Swindle." There's just nothing out there that even remotely resembles the Pistols' version of 'Roadrunner' ("Steve, wait...wait....I don't know the f'n words!") and the pieces by Jones and Cook are excellent, and a great preview of their work together in The Professionals. For those who wish to go deeper, in addition to "Swindle" and "Bollocks," I'd recommend John Lydon's first album with PIL featuring "Religion I & II," ("Fat pig priest, sanctimonious smile...") along with PIL's greatest hits or Metal Box, also any work Lydon did with Leftfield, e.g. "Open Up"; anything by The Professionals is great ("I Didn't See It Coming"), and the soundtrack to 'Sid & Nancy' if only for the atmosphere provided by Pray for Rain and The Pogues. (By the way, if interested, you can probably find a few clips of Steve Jones and The Professionals in action on YouTube. Highly entertaining.)

3-0 out of 5 stars Sex Pistols - 'Kiss This:The Best Of The.....' (EMI)
Not only do you get every track here from the notorious clods of British punk's 1977's sole 'proper' record 'Never Mind The Bollocks',but this CD reissue has extra cuts that may not appeal to most anyone but possibly the completists. As always,it's a total scream listening to "Pretty Vacant","Holidays In The Sun","Bodies" and "Liar".Twenty songs total, decent compilation.

5-0 out of 5 stars yay! sex pistols!
