4-0 out of 5 stars that's right--four stars.
Bad Brains' early recordings found themselves in so many different releases that defining anything as their "first" album is pretty dicey. The Brains' apparent "first" demos were released on CD in the late 90's in the album "Black Dots;" this album itself had been previously released in the late 80's as "Attitude: The ROIR Sessions" before getting the special edition treatment after an endorsement by the Beastie Boys.
5-0 out of 5 stars Best seminal hardcore album
If you like hardcore I don't see how you can not like this one. It's fast, but doesn't sound like a mess. The songs actually sound sort of different from each other (for hardcore at least). The lyrics are not about being an angsty teenager, which means I can listen to it as an adult and not feel like I'm being a total loser. The musicianship is on point. What's not to like?
2-0 out of 5 stars This is not good music
Only way you are gonna like this music is if you are some depressed emo kid who listens to punk rock music just because it is punk, and you think that'll make you cool. This CD just doesn't display musical talent, maybe originality, but this is not high quality music. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars After a few listens it becomes better
Out of the 5 BR CDs I own (Process of Belief, Generator, No Control, Gray Race and Stranger than fiction) Id have to say this is the weakest of the 5. Not that thats a bad thing mind you, far from it infact. Its just this cd takes (well it did for me about 4 listens before I started to love it). The sound they portray on this cd is a very straightforward simplistic approach compared to say for example the process of belief. Its still an awesome cd but it lacks the intensity that I was hoping for. Some really good songs are included on this album such as Leave mine to me, Stranger than Fiction, Tiny Voices, The Handshake, Individual, Better off dead and Hooray for me. However there are a couple of weak tracks like Television feat Tim Armstrong of Rancid fame and the revision of the classic song: 21st Century Digital Boy. However look through all the subtle gripes Ive made and you'll find yourself ROCKING out to this after a few attempts. Just dont buy it and think that it is as intense as their other work. Hope this review helped even if it was only a little.

5-0 out of 5 stars PUNK ROCK IS NOT DEAD... AND THIS PROVES IT!
1994 was a great year for punk rock. Green Day came out with Dookie, their first major label album... and Bad Religion gave the world Stranger Than Fiction.
3-0 out of 5 stars Ok album overall
Ok I understand this band is a classic in the punk scene, but it doesnt make their music any less boring. It feels like they're using the same chords over and over in different orders in each song, and also id like to know, is Tim Armstrong singing in Television? If yes please rate this review as useful if not then rate it as unuseful. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars NOT their best album yet.
Is it just me, or does every CD get some Amazon reviews with words like "Best yet!" or "Best since *name of some old classic of theirs*"
5-0 out of 5 stars Their best album yet, more thrash oriented too.
Shadows Fall have been one of my favorite bands for quite a while now, and I really enjoy listening to them alot. I bought their new album "Fallout from the War" over the weekend, and I really love it. This album is a great follow up to their previous album "The War Within", and it's more heavier and thrash oriented as well. It's also the best album they've done thus far. On this album, there are six brand new songs that were written during "The War Within" sessions, Re-recorded versions of Japanese B-sides and early songs, and some blistering covers to boot. The opening thrasher "In Effigy" immediately gets the ball rolling and the intensity never lets up from that point on. This was the first song I heard on here, and it's also my favorite song as well. Another one of my favorite songs on here "Going, Going, Gone" is an absolute in your face thrasher with merciless riffs and inhuman double bass drumming that will just beat the listener to a bloody pulp. Other songs I reall like on here include: "Will to Rebuild", "Carpal Tunnel" "Deadworld", "Haunting Me Endlessly", "December", "Mark of the Squealer", and "Seize the Calm". On this album, you've got awesome vocals from Brian Fair, smoking leads and blistering solos from lead guitarist Jon Donais, awesome heavy rhythm guitarwork from Matt Bachand, nice hearable bass lines from Paul Romanko, and of course there's that awesome double bass drumming from Jason Bittner.

5-0 out of 5 stars east infection
i find it energtic if not manic, ethnic punk.world music eastern european traditionally instrumented flavor and a touch of conventional electric guitar/drum-set mixed with absurdity. an enjoyable charicature or spoof of itself.absolutely palatable, satiating any craving for outrageous lyrics spoken from our eastern comrades' perspective.possibly widening our own perspective, not brainwashing, brain blasting and aptly named "East Infection".it grows on you.

Imagine a crazed gypsy violinist (like Peter Sellers on the Muppets?) lost in the middle of a punk-rock festival. By the time he staggers out, he's infected with the music.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hell Yeah! is right!
This band is one of the most talented to make an appearance in this century.Miss Patricia Day Makes the band, in my opinion.Shes a talented beautiful singer who can play her bass worth a damn and actually has quite a diverse style of playing as well. Her slaps are well timed and placed in the songs, and the vocals nhance this.
5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely
This is one of my favorite CDs.. Every single one of the songs on the CD are different and unique, but not to the extent that it sounds like a mix CD. The band's style of music matches up so perfectly with their lyrics.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Outstanding Album, One of the Band's Best
It's been a year and a half since the band last release and now they return with another heavy metal madness, chalk full of guitar solos and more singing than their last release. They definitely use the F word a lot on the album, especially in songs like "U Suck" and of course one other (You can gues which one), though the songs are outstanding. Other songs on the album are "Wrong Side," "Hope," "Far Beyond Metal" and the opener "Decimator," which is a not so typical style of love like "Almost Again," which is one of the band's absolute best and the strongest song of this set. Strapping Young Lad fans will not be disappointed with this album.

4-0 out of 5 stars Solid, yet flat
For the record, I only own two SYL albums: "Alien" and "The New Black".For my money, "Alien" is one of the best albums I've ever heard, period.I was somewhat dissapointed by "The New Black", mainly because it lacks the rampant insanity of "Alien".SYL's new (and likely last) album is still a well written work of metal goodness, but it isn't the godsend that was "Alien".It sounds like it's been toned down a bit, with the music being a bit more formulaic and, for lack of a better description, "straightforward".

5-0 out of 5 stars sellout schmellout
I would like to start by bringing up a point...(well other than my opinion of this album which is a whole nother point in itself) anyway...a lot of people write this album off because of the departure of the sound from "..and out come the wolves". but for some STRANGE reason you rarely hear anyone complain about the vast sound differences from "lets go" to "..and outcome the wolves"."Lets go" was fast straight up punk rock 21 (or is 22 or 23? i can't remember) tracks..in less than 45 minutes. "..and out come the wolves" was a VERY different album.more mid tempo songs...with a few ska numbers (no waynot ska from the guys who were in op ivy) and at times sounds a lot like the Clash. don't get me wrong i LOVE both these records. Now onto "life won't wait" I absolultely love this record. When i firt picked this upon vinyl back in 1997 I was not really sure what i was hearing. But the more I listened to it, the more it grew on me. Over the years it has become my fav rancid album. It was a good range of a few musical styles straight up fast punk "warsaw" some mid tempo and slower punk songs "something in the world today" "1998" , "hoover st."some up beat ska "hooligans" a rockbailly influenced number "lady liberty" and some great reggae infleunced stuff "coppa de corzo", "awkward position" overall just fantastic...if you're looking for an album that is a lil more than just fast punk rock singing bout drinking, anarchy, and other fairly generic topics (which has it's place) this may not be the album for you..but if you're looking for something a lil different (who am i kidding? 90% of people reading probably already have or even own this record).

5-0 out of 5 stars Rancid's Best Album!
I think Life Won't wait is Rancid's best effort to date. It's almost like Rancid going back to the good ol' Operation Ivy days. Not that this CD sounds like an Op. Ivy CD(cause it doesn't), but I get this strange but comfortable feeling whenever I listen to Op. Ivy's music, and I get that same feeling on a few points of this album.
4-0 out of 5 stars Tis a good one!
1st of all, it's a shame that Rancid had to "prove themselves" after thsi album and what's more a shame is that they FELT they HAD to. To me that borders on selling out. Selling out doesn't have to do with money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another awesome band with an awesome debut album
I was surprised when I found that these guys were actually from Canada. They rank pretty high up with melodic metal bands like Soilwork and In Flames, who are from Sweden, and bands like Mnemic, who are from Denmark. Doesn't really matter where they're from, this cd smokes. Christian Olde Wolbers (Fear Factory) brought the best out of them when he produced this album. Fans of Soilwork, Fear Factory, Mnemic, In Flames, and Strapping Young Lad need not waste any time in checking them out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great New Band
Let me just say this album rules.I listened to snippets of it at my local record store and waited till i got paid to pick it up.When i did i was blown away. Two things really stand out for me on this record. The production and the lead singer. The production is top notch for a debut ablum. Also the singer is just amazing. He has your typical scream that reminds you of Meshuggah, your high pitched scream that reminds you of Killswitch Engage, and a nice clean voice that reminds me or the Linkin Park scream/sing as well as a normal good singing voice.
5-0 out of 5 stars Look Out
This new band just smokes. It has been some time since I was this impressed with a first album.Huge riffs, blazing solos, a singer that can scream, growl and sing convincingly (it's not often that you hear someone that can do all 3 well) and just an overall vibe that I can't get enough of.There's definitely some Meshuggah in here but it doesn't have the twisty, math-metal feel of a Meshuggah album; it just makes for really interesting rhythm parts.Soilwork, Pantera, Fear Factory, etc. can all be found if you're digging for influences. They also have instances where one guitar and the bass will hammer out a stop-time riff with the drummer while the other guitar plays a more typical, pedal point-type riff over the top...if that makes any sense to anyone.Kind of a Lamb of God thing.

This is an excellent introduction to America's most overlooked rock and roll band.Dead Moon is the real deal, playing unadulterated old-fashioned no frills rock and roll.Fred Cole, guitarist, singer & songwriter, opted out of the baloney of the music biz in the late 60's, forsaking the potential to be a big rock star.Instead, he did it himself.Dead Moon embodies the DIY ethic.Fred even creates his own master vinyl, using the record lathe he bought from the Kingsmen. The record lathe used to make "Louie Louie".

5-0 out of 5 stars What got me started...
Well, this was the very first Blondie cd I bought. This cd got me hooked. I'm a HUGE Blondie fan and it's all thanks to this (and "Heart of Glass" my fav song ever). It's cool because it has the popular songs and the not so popular songs that you just love! Awesome cd...

4-0 out of 5 stars A Good Collection Of Songs
I never owned any album by Blondie other than this Best Of, so I don't know that much about the group's studio albums. I put over half of the songs from this album onto my i-pod so I think it is definitely worth getting unless you can find a more complete compilation with newer songs like Maria and Good Boys. Anyways, my favorite tracks are Heart Of Glass, Dreaming, In The Flesh, Sunday Girl, Call Me, and Atomic. Blondie was certainly a unique talent that paved the way for other female artists. Her songs hold up quite well even today!

5-0 out of 5 stars Keeps Adrenaline Pumping

Editorial Review

Remember the guys in your school who were too smart and sarcastic for their own good? Put guitars on them with a punk-pop penchant and you’ve got Relient K, Canton, Ohio’s most famous import since the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The band’s third release is a thoroughly enjoyable romp of rambunctious buzz-saw guitars and smart-aleck lyrics churned out by singer Matthew Thiessen. Who else could get away with lines like "Let’s get emotional girls to wear mood rings/ So we’ll be tipped off when they’re ticked off" in the wildly clever "Mood Rings," or "Hoopes I did it again/ Relationships are something I can’t comprehend" from the suburban-boredom tribute "Hoopes I Did It Again." Yet, the band never loses sight of its faith in these matters, always finding God at the end of their collective ropes. The tight rhythm section of bassist Brian Pittman and drummer Dave Douglas shine again, laying a foundation upon which Thiessen and Matthew Hoopes blaze away on their 6-strings. Maybe all that time in the principal’s office did do the guys some good!Read more

Okay, for starters I got this CD with a different cover, it had all four cars in a junkyard on the front. The CD is....eh...hmm...AWESOME.

5-0 out of 5 stars A pop-punk CD that stands the test of time
3/4 of the cd's I own, without exception, rarely get played after a month or two. Some grow tiresome after just a few listens, others after more, but rarely do I listen to a cd 2 years after I buy it! Relient K's "two lefts don't make a right...but three do" is the exception to the 3/4 rule. This is truly one of the best pop-punk cd's I own, with great lyrics, chorus' and guitar parts. It's catchy and driving, but it's also got nice melodic moments to even things out. I don't even have to mention that replay value is very, VERY high.

3-0 out of 5 stars more horns
When I first bought in with the out crowd I was very dissapointed. It is nothing like Losing Streak. It's a pretty good cd, but it's not less than jake. There is way to much guitar and not enough horns.

3-0 out of 5 stars The self-proclaimed "true fans" are overrating this album... we're now "In With the Pop Crowd", a.k.a. the 14 to 16-year-olds.
I don't know, guys.On track number three, I think something burst in my head and forced my arm to spasm towards the eject button.I put it on my shelf for a while, and now it's been a few months, and I listened to it again.I still think it's their worst album yet.I don't hate them for wanting to change their sound, but they didn't have to go to this extreme.Read on, though, I promise to not totally snub the album. There are a few decent songs on here.I'm not giving up on them yet, but I am a little annoyed with LTJ right now.
4-0 out of 5 stars Best Album Yet
This is, by far, Less Than Jakes best album Since 'Losing Streak'.The albums released between 'Losing Streak' and 'In With the Out Crowd' were, dare I say, boring.Every song on this album has a different sound, but, at the same time, Less Than Jake manages to stay true to their ska roots.Bravo LTJ! ... The Clash's label didn't believe this debut would sell in the United States. By the time CBS got around to releasing a stateside version of the U.K. album, the British original had become an import hit. 4-0 out of 5 stars call me a "punk traitor," and stone me but i think cut the crap is better than their debut
now i know i will probally get downvoted by everyone on here, but i really do not see what the big deal about this album is. i mean like the other reviewer who gave this 3 or so stars, it is a rather soft hitting album..and i dont mean in a Fugazi type of way either. this, i would compare more to The Smiths than anything. the ablum is admittedly good, but awful overrated. songs like the original white riot, police and thieves, among others are great examples of early punk though. the US version's songs would make great b-sides attached to the end as well!
4-0 out of 5 stars Good debut, but it's a good thing they moved on.
I will probably get a good deal of heat from the punker-than-thou purists (and there's no shortage of them), but I prefer the Clash's later, more experimental work to their first two albums.I will say, however, that the UK version of their debut is preferable to the US version for the simple reason that of the 5 added songs on the US version ("Clash City Rockers", "Complete Control", "White Man in Hammersmith Palais", "I Fought the Law", and "Jail Guitar Doors"), 4 of them can be found on Essential Clash (all except "Jail Guitar Doors"), whereas of the 4 original songs that were taken off ("Deny", "Cheat", "Protex Blue", and "48 Hours"), only one of them ("Cheat") is featured on Essential Clash and the other three can't be found on other collections, at least not to my knowledge.
5-0 out of 5 stars On par with give em' enough rope
I'm torn between "Give em' enough rope" and self titled album. I would say that self titled is a lot similar to Stiff Little Fingers. Lyrics are less clearly sung than lets say "london calling". It's a lot less calm and organized which isn't a bad thing. An awesome awesome first CD and a great start for the clash. more rock and old school punk than thier other albums. if you want more early punk rock this is your best bet. if you want more clear sounding music get "london calling". ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Needs more cowbell.
The Rapture is a fine band, but if you ask me, they could use a bit more cowbell.Trust me, more cowbell is never a bad thing.

1-0 out of 5 stars Pathetic Cure knock off
It sounds like a lost Cure album. Which is gret, if thats what you're looking for. But if you want fresh and original music leave this one alone. Actually, leave the whole dance-punk scene alone. The Rapture, The Faint, The Bravery, and the list goes on... they all sound like knock offs of The Cure, Joy Division, Gang of Four, etc. I'm not saying influenced, I'm saying direct rip off.

3-0 out of 5 stars Mike Ness needs to give it up!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Oh no... can I like it? Is it too mainstream? Will I still be all undergroundy and cool?
I DON'T CARE, if this is them "selling out" or "going pop" or even "becoming the wallflowers" (who I have personally never heard). I DON'T CARE about any of that, because I like the music. That's right, I HEAR the songs and I LIKE them and I don't really THINK about whether or not I'll still be a bonafide Hardcore (pronounced Hard [pause] CORE) kid.
2-0 out of 5 stars Sex, Love and Rock 'n' Roll
Mike D.'s lyrics have always been a little cheesy--it's part of the appeal. But it isn't appealing this time around.I have not heard such crappy lyrics in quite a while.

2-0 out of 5 stars ughhh...what is this?
geez,im listening to this on itunes, and thinking about how much better other bands are then them.im completely against flooding with 'This band sucks!!!' no,i own this Cd and i listen to it...and the songs sound the same!!!i listen for the guitars and music, and the songs vocals and riffs sound like the same old ideas being repeated...seriously,like 'pens and needles' and 'this is who we are' begginings sound like they just took a guitar or two out.Listening to this,i just keep thinking 'havent i heard this song before!?' i havent heard their entire other album, but the tracks i heard were way better than half the repeats on this album!!!
3-0 out of 5 stars Listening With An Open Mind
I'm sick of the extremists of the musical audience. 1's and 5's just because they're emo or they're your favorite band respectively? IF YOU HAVEN'T LISTENED TO THE FRIGGIN' ALBUM, DON'T POST. Seriously, it's not a difficult concept.
5-0 out of 5 stars best album ive ever heard
this is an AWESOME album! every song rox...

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Debut-A Little Shallow on the Lyrics Side of Things
Well, as Hawk Nelson's first album, I'd have to say it's VERY good. The songs are catchy, fast, and for the most part a good comfortable rock sound that most people should enjoy almost upon putting it in.
4-0 out of 5 stars they're from canada
i love this album; it's great, it's fun, it's catchy.
5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome
I had never heard of Hawk Nelson before I attended Winter Jam 2006 not too long ago, and I was impressed. They have very catchy songs, and it was amazing to see their bizzare personalities on stage. They sang 'Every Little Thing', which was very good, and 'Take Me' which is now one of my favorite songs. The beats they have in their music stick in my mind, I love them. Their music isn't purely Christian, however, they are leaning more towards the secular side of Christian rock. But, I would rather listen to secular Christian rock than regular rock. I enjoy listening to their music, and I will continue to follow them. Definately worth the money. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 5 stars is not enought...
I own every Danzig-era Misfits release and to me this is hands down the best one of them all.A solid album with 17 awesome tracks plus a bonus track of studio screw ups.Every song on here is a great listen plus the sound quality isnt that bad compared to his other recordings. There are alot of reviews claiming Walk Among Us is there defining masterpiece but I disagree; its great but not as great as Static Age.

5-0 out of 5 stars Let's Leave The Best For....FIRST!!!
Static Age is the very first Misfits album, and it's them sounding more sophisticated than ever. Believe me, this is different than Walk Among Us, and MUCH different than Earth AD/Wolfsblood. This is where The Misfits had a punk sound, but also fused with something that sounds more like slower 50's/60's rock & roll. Like I said, there are slower songs on this album. But does that mean it's bad? Hell no! It's Misfits dammit!
5-0 out of 5 stars MUST HAVE FOR ANY TRUE FIEND!
A great album with all the classic 'Fits songs like "Last Caress", "We Are 138", and "Teenagers From Mars". Not to mention the rare "In the Doorway", which has really great vocals from Glenn. The "Studio Screw-ups"is cool too. ... Read more
