4-0 out of 5 stars From The Depths Of Dreams Review
Sense fail in a quintet that knows how to play. Their only real problem was their genre choice. However they managed to become one of the only real "EMO/Screamo" bands. Most bands these days just talk about losing their girlfriends and being sad, but senses fail goes further than that, and this album shows it. With great basslines; hard, powerful drumming; guitar riffs that only get better in their full-legnth "Let It Enfold You"; and lyrics and vocals from Buddy that show you exactly what Emo is supposed to be. This first album hits the nail on the head. They have powerful imagery in their lyrics and different perspectives on heartache, death, and more. They progress superbly and scream to accentuate the tone. If your into the "Emo/Screamo" genre, definitely get this. And if you dislike that genre, this is one album you should check out; see if you still dislike it when it's done right.

4-0 out of 5 stars From the Depths of Dreams.......
First off people...PLEASE stop bashing posting review for bands you don't like. All you are doing is wasting space. Anyway about this EP...I actually really enjoyed it, much more than even their full length CD. You can feel the emotion and energy in each of their songs while the lyrics for the most part are stunning in my oppinion there is still room for improvement -- as there always is-- but not as much as in other bands. I feel that even now there is alot of untapped potential for these guys, that only needs time to blossum and grow. Ok, songs to look out for (In my oppinion) 1. The Ground Folds, 2. Free Fall without a Parachute, 3. Hand Guns and Second Chances. Though IMO each song brings something new to the table and none should be missed out on.
4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty decent
Let's start off, if i give this album 5 stars doesnt mean i'm comparing it with other cd's such as Metallica's Master of puppets or Pink Floyd for that matter. I am not comparing it to those bands and their cds. In its own respect I give it 4 stars. The vocals are sometimes off, the guitar is pretty basic, but I like it. I'm not going to say it changed my life, but I do enjoy banging my head to it every now and then. When I write reviews I don't compare it. If I like it, I like it, if I don't then too bad. Doesn't mean that genre sucks or it will never be as good as the classics. Whatever. 4 stars ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars give it time
when i first got this cd, i already had from here to infirmiry and the hot water music split, so i was familiar with them.
5-0 out of 5 stars Best of all I've heard from them so far
I actually started my experience with Alkaline Trio with this CD a few years ago, so maybe it's just that I've listened to it the most, but of the three I have so far (I also have Crimson, Maybe I'll Catch Fire...and I'm waiting for Goddammit! to come in), this CD is my favorite.
5-0 out of 5 stars its ok but...
its like when the Sex Pistols lost Sid Vicious or when Blink 182 got Travis Barker or when Green Day got played on the radio...wait no its not. all the hardcore Alkaline Trio fans im sure are upset that finally their favorite band got recognized and now they have to find real issues to find angst in. im so sorry for you. this is their best album. it has lyrics that make you want to check your closet before you go to sleep at night and music that makes you want to kill whatever might be in your closet. it is the perfect mix of a sweet and sour muscial/lyrical realtionship. im sorry if you dont like the fact that they have gotten better but you know what...there is always the new simple plan album. they are pretty bummed that their dad took away their platinum visa cards and have to drive around in the familes mid sized BMW now. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Green Day's first...and maybe finest.
Don't hate me, but I was introduced to Green Day by American Idiot, which was the first CD I had which was really mine. I enjoyed it a lot, and soon I was an obsessive FREAK over the band. I'm still missing "Kerplunk", but other than that my Green Day collection is just about complete. Ok, now that I'm done telling you my life story, here's some info on the album:
5-0 out of 5 stars Uncut Punk
I cannot say much more about this album that hasn't been said, but I will attempt to write all that hasn't been said. After the release of American Idiot, I noticed a cover of some magazine that stated that Green Day could now be acknowledged as one of the greatest bands ever... I had my doubts about that. Sure American Idiot was a decent album, but it was not the best album of even the last 5 years. I set out to explore the rest of their catalogue however. Their music shifted from ear-pleasing but still boring pop-punk (Dookie, Insomniac), consistent but borrowed material (Warning), and complete disaster in an attempt to try something new (Nimrod). I wasn't wholly impressed with the band. This was the last album I heard. And I was completely blown away. It was a re-revolution: Green Day had created that unclean, perfect punk sound that the Ramones had created in 1976. The Ramones sound is more prominent on here than other albums, which is definitely a great thing for the band as any one who listens to this album would say. I wish they carried on with this sound a little longer, but then again it would not be as wonderful in retrospect. Brilliant, from their epononymous song to "Rest" and all the other great tunes. One of the greatest punk albums ever.

1-0 out of 5 stars i take back saying warning was their worst...
due to the greatness of dookie and insomniac, i must admit that i do like and had liked green day for a little while..but mainly for those albums...EVERYONE kept mentioning that this was the best cd they ever made, so i went out and got it and listened...this cd sucks!this album is basically pop laced with pop-punk for ages 12-under...this really reeks of whining over nothing badly!

5-0 out of 5 stars Nfg's Best
This is probably their best album.
4-0 out of 5 stars One of the giants in pop punk
Pop-punk. It is the unfortunate voice of a generation, and viciously scorned by the old punks. For good reason I guess. Pop punk went from being just an offshoot of punk with more hooks to becoming a new outlet for the newly emerging emo generation to become a part of bands. Most of it is unfortunate. Some bands, however, embrace their music as simply pop-punk and don't hope to be anything else. One such band is New Found Glory. I do have one thing to say to you old punks, though. Your music was amazing. I am right there with you. But for young kids with no exposure to it, this kind of stuff is a great building block for better music. Just be happy pop punk bands are stealing some of the spotlight from boy bands, pop princesses, and rappers.
5-0 out of 5 stars Wow!
This is the only album of ANY artist, where I like *every single track*. All twelve songs. And I usually consider an album great if only about 75% of them are worthwhile. And 100% of these are far, far better than worthwhile. Truly an amazing album, and totally worth buying. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars someone should stop you "american girl"
this girl has said in recent reviews to save your money on real music. like what? american girl is obviously a mainstream whore, only liking what her friends like. she is not worthy of life on earth, let alone breathing our air. ive even seen her once. she is fat and repulsive.

1-0 out of 5 stars Please, someone stop them!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars awesome Sublime live CD
this is a must have album for a Sublime fan... you can feel the vibe as if you were there in the concert.

5-0 out of 5 stars Live = Better
I wish I had a van. Vans are pretty cool. I mean...there's just so much room. And sure, they can't drag real well, but you don't drag in a van. You got subs, and room for gals. And if you're really classy you can get a couple of couches back there and a TV, and you can roll in it.
4-0 out of 5 stars Sublime........................................
Ok.I'm a big Sublime fan.I have All their cd's but the acoustic one, but anyway, that's not the point.I'm a sucker for live records, and this one is one of thier best. There are a lot of bootleg live albums on the net, and they have their moments, but the sound quality is hard to handle cuz alot of them suck. This is a very good cd.It shows sublime in their true form: "three guys and a dalmation playing reggae and punk songs at parties for beer" to quote, incorrectly, but close enough, the liner notes of this cd.If you are a Sublime fan, get it.Otherwise get 40 oz. To Freedom and s/t.This is a good mix of songs from 40 oz. and Robbin' the Hood.Speaking of which, it does Robbin the Hood justice because they do actual full band versions of the home-produced 4-track songs that were usually just Brad by himself.Highlights include "New Thrash", "Don't Push", "Let's Go Get Stoned", "Greatest Hit's", "Date Rape", "STP", "Pool Shark" (which is a mix of the original and acoustic versions), and an early version of "Caress Me Down".Good Luck. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Elitists eff off.
III is Tiger Army's most mature-sounding and solid piece of work to date. The songwriting is aeons beyond that found on their first album, and on III they've chosen to showcase their sharp pop sensibilities. The songs all have distinct personalities of their own, all while screaming TIGER ARMY.Personal favorites include the '50s-esque love song "Through The Darkness," country-fied "The Long Road," and "Calling," which is one of their best songs ever IMO.Looking forward to the next release.
5-0 out of 5 stars Best Tiger Army yet.
The writing is tight. The song structure is incredible. His vocals are amazing. The sound of the recording is so different from any other psychobilly stuff out there. Nick 13 has grown into a much better songwriter/musician. I hope their next disc sounds this good. Alot of people bashed this disc, but they are trapped into what they think psychobilly should sound like. Nick 13 is making the genre evolve, and I applaud him for it. If every band sounded like Demented Are Go!, the Meteors or the Nekromantix this genre of music will die faster than the grunge scene from a decade ago.

2-0 out of 5 stars nick 13 needs a new formula!!!
heres my feelings about tiger army. first album rocks,2nd album song structures-lyrics-and music getting repetitive plus the addition of mister 13's new davey havock voice plus plus the addition of said moron himself, and this their third album besides 2 or 3 songs royaly sucks psycho dung. nick 13 doesn't dare call this 'band' "psychobilly" does he? cause tiger army has morphed into a watered down version of it's former self. another intro(yawn),more ballads about lost love(double yawn) and yes more self indulgent crap about tiger army never dying. please die....please? the addition of some of the worlds most boring drumming doesnt help. anyway's, stay clear of this homogenized commercial sounding hellcat records garbage. if you wanna' hear tiger army rock buy the first album or the early years e.p. besides that it's

Editorial Review

The scariest thing about Horror Pops second album, might be the cover itself that looks like were promotional stills for some goth episode of Pee Wee's Playhouse. But the visuals are the most seditious part about these Danish punk psychobilly rockers. They elevate the often creepy genre with their smart lyrics, elegant nods to New Wave, careful attention to dynamics and a strong rhythmic structure that will find you nursing a bad case of whiplash from all the head bobbing. It's one of those rare albums that combines swaggering attitude, clean melodies and a skewed sense of humor in equal measure. And that's even before you're lulled into bittersweet submission by the voice of singer/bassistPatrica Day's whose voice is caught midway between Chrissie Hynde smart and seductive purr, Debbie Harry's saucy screech and Nico's dark mysteries.-- Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT ALBUM -NOT PSYCHOBILLY
This is a great sophmore effort for Horrorpops. The knock on this band is that they aren't psychobilly enough or that they aren't heavy enough.Enough for what?I remember Metallica getting the same rap once they started playing something with a melody line."They sold out" or "they're not metal anymore" or some other garbage like that. What a load of crap! The first song on Bring It on is called Freaks In Uniforms. It's about people (and bands) tragically sticking to molds...not stepping out from them and showing individuality. The people that knock this band usually knock it for the wrong reasons - not because they're a bad band, because they don't conform to the preconceived notion of what "this type" of band should be.Horrorpops aren't psychobilly, though they do have psychobilly influences that are obvious. They are plenty heavy for what they do.Horrorpops are a POP spin on psychobilly, rockabilly, ska, and good old fashioned punk.If you don't like your music catchy and melodic, stay away from this band.If you like songs that stay in your head and that are fun to sing along to...this is it. If you like to see live bands that all look and act the same as you mosh around or skank, they aren't for you.If you like an element of glitz and flash, not unlike KISS was in the 1970's, you're going to LOVE Horrorpops.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not another cow in the Herd....
I'm not particularly a huge fan of the Horrorpops. That being said I own this album, I have heard this album and I have heard everyone's gripes about this album. I wouldn't call this 100% Psychobilly at all (although the slap-bass is apparent in some of the songs and not so apparent in others) and I agree with one of the reviews below that this band was not trying to sound 100% Psycho. With that I believe the Horrorpops have taken a new direction with this genre much like Tiger Army has with their third album and I comend them on this. Who wants to hear the same old Psychobilly that you can hear and buy for a dime a dozen these days...? It all sounds the same! This new Psycho/Rock/Punk hybrid music is a sigh of relief if you ask me... don't you agree?

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than the first...
What's wrong with these reviewers? This albums actually better than Hell Yeah! It's a little less poppy, so the songs aren't as immediately accessible, but they sure get better and better with each listen. ... Read more

This CD rock just as much as Revolutions Per Minute and it's awesome!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars "Live for Something Outside of Your Own Mind"
These guys rock. Finally there's a band that is easy to find out about that is actually good. Tim's lyrics are great, they're not your average "boo-hoo she broke my heart, now I'm gonna kill her" lyrics that these so-called emo bands write about. They actually mean something, they're political, but even your average "angst filled adolescent" can enjoy them because at times they mention girls in a political sense.

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm a new fan and I think this record is great
I read the other reviews on here and I can see why people who have liked AFI for a long time and have everything may not need this album, but I just got into AFI when Sing The Sorrow came out and then I just bought decemberunderground. This album helped me figure out which of the other albums I might like.Turn out that I like the Black Sails and Art of Drowning albums better than the earlier stuff but the really early songs on this album are cool but not really my kind of music.
3-0 out of 5 stars Not Very Essential
Since AFI had spent years in the underground expanding their fan base and appeal to ridiculous heights, it was only a matter of time before a cd of this nature surfaced. Given the success of their commercial breakthrough "Sing The Sorrow", no one should be surprised in the least that Mr. Holland and Nitro records decided to put out this compilation to cash in on AFI's popularity. Also considering the band was not even involved in the arrangement or selection of this disc, and it makes things seem even shadier. While if you've never listened to AFI before and you are looking for a good place to start, "A Fire Inside" might be appropriate, it's nothing more than a compilation of old songs, and will seem fairly disappointing to any fan who's been around a lengthy amount of time.
4-0 out of 5 stars an introduction to AFI !
This was the first afi album i bought and i wasnt let down. Ok mybe it was just nitro making a compilation and alot of afi fans arent happy about it but if your just getting into the band like i was, i think that this albums holds many of afi's great songs ( some might disagree!). But after you'v got this album you should buy "ART OF DROWNING" true hardcore! ... Read more

if you ask me, i would say that this album is pennywise at the op of their game. i mean, if jason were present, they may have been a little better, but the cards werent played that way and we are left with a very excellent work from pennywise. to me, this is the start of the present sound that pennywise used on following albums from the ashes and the fuse...some of their best at that! this album also shows that they are clearly over the loss of jason thirsk. i mean, where straight ahead was a mere step in the right direction, this album solidifies it. i would say the only pre-straight ahead album that is as good as this one is their other masterpiece, "about time."

Ive only heard one other pennywise cd and it seemed a lot like this one except not as good. This cd is very politically motivated and fun to listen to.Some of their songs seem to be highly repetitive such as enemy and my god.The best song on here in my opinion is the world.f**k authority, something wrong with me, and its up to you are really good too.A lot of what is on this cd is contemporary history and in a couple of decades will earn a couple of paragraphs in all our childrens history books making this a small peice of american history.

5-0 out of 5 stars -Freedom (Free-dumb) Get it?
"Land of the Free?" is your typical hardcore Pennywise album.

2-0 out of 5 stars One Good song.
And that's "All That I've Got," which makes this whole cd whorth 2 stars becuase the song and the music video are just so good. But overall, the lead singer's voice sounds whiny and annoying. If you like the song "I'm A Fake," then I'd reccomend From First To Last, who sounds similar, but is much better than The Used. If you are thinking about buying this cd, save yourself $7.50 and just buy "All That I've Got" off of iTunes because it's really the only decent song on here. If you're a new fan of The Used, stick to their old stuff and listen to "Buried Myslef Alive."

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow..
One word..Wow.. This album may not be suitable for most, but for fans of the emo/punk genre, its incredible. Extremely catchy, with songs like 'Listening' and 'I Caught Fire', this album is jam packed with hardcore, punk rockin', break your speakers, damn good racket. 5 stars, hands down.

4-0 out of 5 stars very nice second release
do not bash this bands second cd. Im telling you its not that bad and it certainly was a very anticipated release and I dont think that anybody would be dissapointed to hear it. It was not quite as original as the first cd, but it was still a great release all together. I caught fire, and all that ive got are very good songs, and Berts singing is just amazing. the songs closer Im a fake is a good song, that releates to alot of posers out there, and its a good one to close the album with. alot like pieces mended on the first cd, it rocks your world. the weakes songs are probably (cut up angles, and a light with a sharpened edge.) let it bleed for some reason really catches my attention all the time. anyway, go buy the cd and give it a chance, you will not be dissapointed ... Editorial Review

As long as there are bands like NoFX, punk rock needn't worry about requiring life support. Ten years into a remarkable run of smart, snotty, cynical, hopeful, and always in-your-face-albums, Fat Mike and his crew still maintain a winning percentage to rival the Harlem Globetrotters'. Snippets of ska and outright pop enter the mix here and there on this eighth full-length release, but whatever the sound, the mood is as thoroughly smart-ass as ever. More often than not, NoFX's barbs are directed inward--as you might expect from a band with a concert disc entitled Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One Of Their Best
This little punk album is actually one of NOFX's best albums but there are a bunch just as good. The cool thing about this cd is that it doesnt seem like they were trying to put together a great album considering it took less than 3 days to put it together and record and most of the songs are only around 2 minutes long. This album literally flies by making you wish that there were more tracks... and that is definately a good thing. There is almost no filler like on some of their albums and my favorite songs are 180 Degrees, Quart In Session, Dad's Bad News, All Outta Angst, I'm Telling Tim, All His Suits Are Torn, The Desperation's Gone, It's My Job To... & the short but sweet Murder The Government. NOFX lays down some of their catchiest songs ever here for instance 180 Degrees is my favorite song by them to date so if you are a slight fan of the band do not hesitate to pick this up.

4-0 out of 5 stars their last good album before the huge nose dive.
i do think this is one the best NOXF cds..i mean surely its not better than punk in drublic or white trash two heebs...but i would compare it more to their newest album..wolves in wolves clothing...it has enough good music to make it worthwhile and it doesnt reek of boo hooing over stupid things as much as the two weak albums that follow this..i find that this NOFX cd started the whole whiny NOFX thing..i mean listen to the previous albums and you will hear grade A pop-punk.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of Their Best
This cd deserves a grammy! One of my favorite cds ever. Every song is good. One for the Razorbacks is a great song. The story in the paper about Laurie L. is awesome. Parents should be warned that the following songs are innaproproate: 2,000 Light Years Away, My Generation, Best Thing in Town, Words I Might Have Ate, and Dominated Love Slave. "Love Slave" is sung by Tre Cool which is a big change. The first 5 songs are the best. (You gotta listen to "Private Ale.") All in all, this is an excellent compact disc.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great pre-major label Green Day
I hope that since it's not available, this will some day be re-released because it's what deserves to be noticed from Green Day. Besides, this is the album that has the first recording of "Welcome to Paradise." This album is one of my favorites from Green Day, maybe even my actual favorite. Every one of the tracks stands out well on their own, whether it's really goofy like the Tre Cool-penned track or just the plain greatness of songs like the first two on here. Also, people are saying NOW how they're so simliar to the Who, but did you know that on their "Sweet Children" EP (the actual first GD release; tacked onto the end of the release) that there is a cover of "My Generation"? Oh, and it's a fun cover at that. This may have not seen the success that "Dookie" and "American Idiot" have seen, but it is at least as worthy in your collection. Before they had the ambition to make movie-like albums or get real big, there was "Kerplunk!"

4-0 out of 5 stars The Intro of Tre'

4-0 out of 5 stars It sounds like LARS, NOT like RANCID
If you love the ska-punk sound of RANCID and are not into heavier styles of punk, then this albumn is likely not for you.
4-0 out of 5 stars Oh what's lar's to do during down time....
Whats lar's to do during down time with rancid while Tim attends to producing lp's for others and doing side bands with blink members ect....Why produce some albums here and there for some of the bands that Tim has no time for on Hellcat and to keep it real do some for a label that's slowly going alacart BYO.So, finally Lar's set's off to do his first solo side project since being in Rancid.Lar's had been in some bands prior to Rancid most notably Aunti Christ which hailed kinda from Olympia, Washington and thanks to Lars also from Campbell, California. (hence the song Olympia, WA) So, we start this lp with an intro ala Rancid style and it goes straight into a Rancid style song you'd expect to hear written by Lars. So, far good. Than have a song flashing back to Lar's early years with his brother and what not. Step up a bit to the next track "to have to have not" a great song done by Billy Bragg which one can easily figure why it was a no brainer to cover this classic Folk/contempary punk song. Then it goes on mostly sounding like a tribute album to Lar's favorite bands. You'll hear more of that classic rancid "life won't wait" style music with guitar riffs of Black Flag's "rise above" Motorhead "ace of spades" riffs with lyrics that kinda sound like a Motorhead song. And if you just pay attention theres lots of riff's one will easily recognize from big punk songs. So, this album overall isn't really origional considering who wrote the songs and had his mate Tim help produce this album.(both can make good orgional songs when they put their talents to work)But, it turns out alright cause Lar's put's down how he see's the world and gives one a glimpse on his life up to the the new Millinium. And this album still gets good life in my CD player after all these years. Not bad for a first solo album. Be weary of the second lp though....

5-0 out of 5 stars another Rancid side project
This album's really good, it's like Rancid, but without Tim. I still don't see what people have against Indestructable. Oh well ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Funtastic CD
I am sad to say that I didnt discover At the Drive In until about a year ago. After hearing their single One Armed Scissor, I fell in love with the band and their great energy and went out and bought all their CDs, but I went backwards starting with Relationship of Command. Acrobatic Tenement is very different from their other 2 CDs. It has a very underproduced, raw, emotional sound that I love. This CD has a fun, fast-paced, make you wanna sing and dance feeling to it, and it starts off right away with Starslight, a quick warmer-upper. My favorite song from this album is Ticklish, Cedric's voice is just so mesmorizing. It amazes me how Omar and Cedric went from this sound to the sound and styles of The Mars Volta, my other favorite band that I cant stop listening to. Its too bad ATDI broke up because I would have loved to see their amazing live shows Ive heard about, but at least Cedric and Omar still decided to create amazing music in the form of TMV.

5-0 out of 5 stars A different ATDI...
This is an interesting album. When I first got into At The Drive-In a little over a year ago I didn't really care that much for this album. Over time though, this album has grown and grown on me until now when oddly enough it is now my favorite ATDI album.
3-0 out of 5 stars Depending..
There are many merits to the [De Facto]At The Drive-In/TMV/Sparta legacy, and if you are reading this review, you know the history. You know the sounds.
