5-0 out of 5 stars Murphys kick butt
The Dropkick Murphys are a great punk/Irish band, almost most songs I heard are great. Buy this one, it kicks butt!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars DROPKICK'S AT THEIR BEST
FOR ALL YOU TEENAGERS WHO ARE GUNG HO ABOUT THE DROPKICK MURPHYS, BE ADVISED THAT YOU WILL NOT RESPECTED BY ANYONE YOU MEET IF YOU THINK THAT AL BARR'S DROPKICK MURPHYS ARE THE REAL DEAL. THE BEST ALBUMS, AND TRUE DROPKICK MURPHYS CAN BE FOUND IN ANY OF THEIR ALBUMS FROM 1997- AND EARLIER- 1997 IS WHEN THEIR ORIGINAL LEAD SINGER MIKE MCCOLGAN LEFT THE BAND TO PERSUE A CAREER AS BOSTON FIREFIGHTER. LIKE A TRUE DROPKICK, BLUE COLLAR, HARD WORKING MAN. IF YOU ARE A DROPKICK FAN AND DO NOT OWN THIS ALBUM, I SUGGEST YOU PURCHASE IT RIGHT NOW, AND SEE WHERE IT ALL STARTED. AND BUY THE "STREETDOGS" NEW ALBUMS- ITS MIKE'S NEW BAND STARTED WITH A FELLOW BOSTON FIREFIGHTER! GET UP STAND UP!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Allright
Being a die hard Dropkick Murphys fan I was excited to buy this cd. However, I was shocked finding out that the singer is different. Al Barr (found in all the other albums) was not in dkm until after this album. Instead Mike McColgan took lead which changed dkm's whole sound. Their 90s street punk and oi! sound is cool but just not the same as their newer sound. For starters I recommend The Warrior's Code and Sing Loud, Sing Proud! Black Out is cool too. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Proud Of Ya
AFI-Very Proud Of Ya *****
5-0 out of 5 stars The Good Old Days
If you started listening to AFI when this cd was released then you know they changed the sound big time. For me that is when I said "I 'll just stick to the first two cds". I'm really not in to thier whole new "hardcore" style they have now. I just saw the video on MTV for the latest single and boy what a laugh. I guess it happens to a lot of bands. But it sucks when they change from a band you like to hear, to band that hurts your ears. I still remember seeing them open up for Guttermouth in 1996 and then hearing this cd played in the record store, buying it like a week after it came out and having many bedroom concerts..hahaha Those were The Good Old Days.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, if a bit generic
Much like "Answer That and Stay Fashionable" (which was releasedbefore "Very Proud of Ya" on a different label before being rereleased by Nitro after the latter was released) this is AFI in their punk phase, before the harder and darker influences began to take over. This release is slightly darker than their previous release in that their are no real novelty songs and most of its tunes tend to have a "dark" focus, but its still basically three quickly played chords backing up Davey's whiney voice. I group this one with their first record because its basically the same sound, if a little more developed.

My daughter worked on this film as the assistant to the director...so I think everyone should buy this CD...not that she worked on the CD...but you get my drift:)

AAR starts with their hit single dirty little secret (to overplayed for me) and then NU NU NU NU all the way till the end!.Well, there are some new punk rock tunes,a little bit of pop/rock with an inch of folk/rock:

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good
Ok this CD is alright. Not as good compared to their other CDs. I hate Behind the Screams, its so pointless. All it is is an acoustic guitar strumming slowly. Personally, I like fast music, slow stuff just bores me. Thats why this CD isnt as good, the songs are slower. My personal favorites are As The Tables Turn and Sniped because their the fastest. This CD is good enough to buy though I believe.

4-0 out of 5 stars A logical progression from IDR
Nobody should be surprised that CKY's third album is excellent."An Answer Can Be Found" marks another evolution in the song writing prowess of Deron Miller. As a seven-year fan of the band, I've grown to eagerly anticipate hearing each new addition to the catalog of the hardest working frontman in rock music.

Editorial Review

With a handful of indie releases and a few hectic years of touring under their belts, this release marks the Ataris big-label bow. And if the concept uniting it is an ode to the power of memory--a conceit attributed to Richard Hell, but one that ironically might as well have originated with the likes of Billy Joel--Kris Roe and company blitz their way through it with kinetic power and hooks to spare. But therein lies the rub: Fans will find this an album rife with positive energy, bright, well-constructed songs, and upbeat deliveries (if sometimes in service of awkward intellectual pretensions like "Unopened Letter to the World"'s parallels between Kurt Cobain and no less than Emily Dickinson); cynics may hear at as further evidence that punk and alternative rock have been co-opted in service of formulas as well-honed--and rigid--as anything the dreaded Corp Rock '80s ever yielded. Still, if play-it-to-the-back-rows, unabashed power-pop is what the Ataris were after here, they've delivered it with nigh perfection, right down to a slick, pumped up cover of Don Henley's classic-rock warhorse "The Boys of Summer." 3-0 out of 5 stars Not bad, not bad at all...
Sure, not every song is worth listening to, but I have major respect for this band. They're classed with other pop-punk bands who I have no respect for at all, but The Ataris are somewhat different. The band is levels beyond other bands in their genre. I can't quite put my finger on it though. I'm not sure if it's the sound, the lyrics, the vocals, or something else. However, I do know that they deserve a listen.
4-0 out of 5 stars To all the reviewers who gave "So Long Astoria" a bad review.
This is a great album! One of my favorites. To all the reviewers who gave this album an average to lousy rating, stick it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Punkabilly Rock at its Absolute Best
The Living End's last release, "Modern Artillery" didn't do much for the trip which was a good thing, because the album was more of a blatant pop punk sellout album than anything else. So now the band is back doing what they do best; rockabilly influenced political ska punk. This is their fourth full-length album and a good follow-up to their second release. The album features song that incorporate the bands unique sound. Give "Wake Up" and What's On Your Radio" a listen and you'll see what I'm talking about.
4-0 out of 5 stars Emergency! Paging....
Good punk -- like any really good music -- is kinda hard to find. You have to sift through dozens of hack, ripoff bands before finding something with energy and brilliance.
4-0 out of 5 stars A much more vocal-based album
I enjoy this album, just like any music by The Living End, but I noticed there is much more emphasis on the vocals and melody than before. There seems to be a lot less lead guitar than they're oldest music, and it seems like basslines are used a lot less than before. In the past, it was obvious by the technique that they were using a standup bass, but now, it is not quite so apparent.Over all this was a very enjoyable album, and I really can't complain much.I'm sure I will be listening to this album for quite a while. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars One of Their Best
This cd deserves a grammy! One of my favorite cds ever. Every song is good. One for the Razorbacks is a great song. The story in the paper about Laurie L. is awesome. Parents should be warned that the following songs are innaproproate: 2,000 Light Years Away, My Generation, Best Thing in Town, Words I Might Have Ate, and Dominated Love Slave. "Love Slave" is sung by Tre Cool which is a big change. The first 5 songs are the best. (You gotta listen to "Private Ale.") All in all, this is an excellent compact disc.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great pre-major label Green Day
I hope that since it's not available, this will some day be re-released because it's what deserves to be noticed from Green Day. Besides, this is the album that has the first recording of "Welcome to Paradise." This album is one of my favorites from Green Day, maybe even my actual favorite. Every one of the tracks stands out well on their own, whether it's really goofy like the Tre Cool-penned track or just the plain greatness of songs like the first two on here. Also, people are saying NOW how they're so simliar to the Who, but did you know that on their "Sweet Children" EP (the actual first GD release; tacked onto the end of the release) that there is a cover of "My Generation"? Oh, and it's a fun cover at that. This may have not seen the success that "Dookie" and "American Idiot" have seen, but it is at least as worthy in your collection. Before they had the ambition to make movie-like albums or get real big, there was "Kerplunk!"

Editorial Review

There are few things more depressing than a goofy punk rock band that suddenly decides it needs to be taken seriously. Sum 41 did a brilliant job parodying corporate rock, pop and a large chunk of the '80s with breakthrough hit "Fat Lip." But over three albums, the Canadian band has unwittingly gravitated in that very direction. On Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Rock on Sum 41
I heard of Sum 41 from the Cheaper by the Dozen soundtrack. They sang "In too Deep"I love that song so I check out some other songs by them. This album is pretty good, I like three songs on it: Pieces, Some Say, and There's No Solution. They're mostly Punk and Hard Rock.Sometimes they'll play some metal.I don't like metal.Anyway, this album is pretty good.I'm not sure why I never heard them on the radio. They rock hard!if you like Green Day you'll probably like Sum41

4-0 out of 5 stars Sometimes Rock, Other Times Punk
This is a good, decent record. It's not their best, but it is a good decent record. It seems that Sum 41 is attempting a sort of evolution toward a more serious rock band.Given their brief history, it's an interesting choice.I can't decide if they have decided to embrace their punk roots or shed them with this record.
5-0 out of 5 stars VERY VERY good
I love this CD... I'll honestly admit.. I didnt even know who Sum 41 was until my BFF played this CD for me... I loved it!!!! Unlike SImple Plan... some of these songs actually have meanings if you listen to the lyrics... like No Reason,Pieces, Some Say and 88...All the tracks on this album are good... youll find yourself humming them constantly...like i said.. the lyrics really have meanings... Sum 41 is catching up to bands like Green Day...I love 88.. "i hope someday you have it all" I like the message in that song...BUY THIS!! ... Read more

If you are considering the purchase of this album, don't hestitate. It sucks that you do not own it already, but Souls fans are willing to forgive (under conventional circumstances). 4-0 out of 5 stars Fine Tasting Ska
This CD is awesome. This is what really established Less Than Jake in the public scene. This is a great album, full of catchy horns and just overall great ska. 4-0 out of 5 stars It was for the betterment man...
this is a good album by NoFX and a really good listen. There are some great songs on here with some really good/funny/creative lyrics. anything from "getting high on the DL" to the awesome political "The Man I Killed" which is probably my favorite song on the album, it's so powerful... and don't we all just want to do that? Great punk, great music, great lyics, great message. A very solid release from an outstanding band.
5-0 out of 5 stars they are back
I must say, this album really blew me away. even though I am a NOFX fan, I thought their last 2 albums were not up to par (gently speaking) so I thought that albums such as "so long and thanks..." would not be matched any more - what a shame.
3-0 out of 5 stars Far from their best.
I don't have much to say about this album. It's a real shame to see them slowly hit the downward slope that so many other older bands have, and I was really counting on them to keep hitting on strong (See Pennywise, Lagwagon etc) in terms of musicianship and songwriting. Don't get me wrong, I still listen to it and enjoy most of the songs and the messages are all still there in their humourous, crude and sometimes dire form, but this is not the same NOFX I hear when I throw Punk in Drublic on or Ribbed. I'm glad they're still going strong after 20+ years, but maybe this record will mark the end of the road? Who knows. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Discovering a better sound
I have to admit I never really liked Silverstein's first album "When Broken Is Easily Fixed", I found the music to be just like every other band except worst, and his voice sounded terrible, now I am quite lucky that there was nothing better in the shop for me to spend my money on, because this album is way way above the level of their old album, the first thing we notice is the lead singer's voice, it has definitely improved and I could honestly say I like it now, also there si much less screaming which helps their music sound better, the second thing you notice is the definite improvement in guitar works, there is not a single part of a song that just relies on chords, melody is omnipresent. The drumwork is also much better and the overall effect of these mark a definite improvement and help create a much more polished album than their last release. Silverstein composed a lot of different styles of songs, as much as the hardcore emo "my sword versus you dagger" or emo ballads like "Discovering the waterfront" and of course their hit "Smile In Your Sleep" which is a truly beautiful song, so if you didn't like the old Silverstein too much, I still advise you to give this one a try, and if you liked the old one, this one could become your album of the year. A must-have for anyone who wants a complete collection of emo, well done Silverstein, you have made me fall in love again.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great
Silverstein is the very essence of emo. They have some EXTREMELY talented guitar players. wow. The lead singer's voice is Amazing, and the lyrics are wonderful. By far one of the most professional bands in the industry. This record doesn't sound like some kid recording from his garage. I definitely recommend it, but only if you're not looking to be cheered up.

4-0 out of 5 stars Every Band Evolves
I've heard the full catalog of Alkaline Trio and every album offers somthing different. If they were to write and sing songs that sounded the same and constantly touched on the same topics then they would get flamed for that. Why is it people can't just let a band change over time instead of producing the same songs over and over again. If Weezer did that then noone would like any album after "Pinkerton" because it would get compared to every song as an abomination or combination of two gems from the original album.Say what you want but this is a good album. The songs are well done, well written and they even make an effort to touch on their orignal songs in tracks like "Burn" and "Back to Hell".
3-0 out of 5 stars Impressed... 3.5 Stars..
I bought this CD on a whim without having heard much of it. That said, after having listened too it awhile it has impressed me. It isn't the most groundbreaking album I've ever heard, but its just good music. Compared with older Alkaline Trio cd's this does have a more mature sound. However, it does have the feeling that they are trying to attract a broader audience, so it does have a more pop feeling too it. While I wouldn't call it over-produced, for lack of a better word, thats the feeling this album gives you. You can tell by the album cover that it has a more "produced" feeling too it. But thats not a bad thing in my opinion.
2-0 out of 5 stars Just another band
I'm not really feeling this album.A coworker recommended it to me adamantly, and said that "Mercy Me" is the best song on the album.Well, they were right about that, with "Time to Waste" following in second place. All other songs kind of lag behind and/or sound too similar to other songs.I love the piano introduction to "Time to Waste," and "Mercy Me" is catchy, but other than that this album is a waste of time.Crimson is the color of my tears of boredom. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Finch's Best CD
If you have never heard Finch before, then this is the CD you should listen to. Their other CD "Say Hello to Sunshine" is deffinately not their best. "What It Is To Burn" has a lot more talent than their new CD. Don't Say Hello to Sunshine, Say Hello to What It Is To Burn. This cd may have a lot of songs that sound alike but after your 2nd or 3rd time listening to it, you'll realize that they're all different and they're all amazing. Their best track on this CD is "Ender" and "What It Is To Burn". My least favorite is "Project Mayhem", only because it's repetitive. It sounds the same throughout the whole song, and it just flat out isn't good. But besides that song, the whole CD is great. You should buy it. And as for the other CD "Say Hello To Sunshine", all I'm going to say is that it's deffinately not as good as this CD. So you should get this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best albums of all time
Simply stated, this album is a masterpiece. It has everything one would want from an album. It has great songwriting, great music, great lyrics, and most of all great emotion. This album will evoke emotions, probably nostalgic ones, but emotions none the less.
2-0 out of 5 stars dissapointing
WHen I first bought this record I was real excited i thought I had found a new band that was great. The first song started out all right, but by the fourth or fifth song I was bored out of my mind. I finished the cd up, gave it a few more tries, and then stuck it on my shelf. I will give it this: it has a limited appeal to people who like the stuff that they play on the radio, but if you dont care for the stuff they play on the radio, then skip over this and catalog it with the other 9,000 bands that sound just like them...again another case of talented musicians who strive to make music for the appeal of the mass public...well, it just didnt do anything for me. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars How I Spent The Best 5 Dollars Of My Life
Ventura, circa 2004. My first experience with the Souls was an unexpected one after hearing a set of theirs at Warped. The songs they sang sounded breathtaking and uplifting... the kind of songs that make your heart beat faster and get you excited. The first thing I did after witnessing this spectacle was to rush over to their booth and buy a cd. I chose this. Now, a couple years later and having heard everything they have released... this remains the best. It is more polished then anything prior and just plain better than their latest two (which are also great).
5-0 out of 5 stars guaranteed to keep you bouncing from start to finish
I believe that this is by far the band's best work. The album is full of catchy and upbeat anthems. Yes, anthems. These are songs that you will sing out in your room or chant along with in your car. From beginning to end, this album delivers a surge of positive energy that never lets you down. This cd will lift your spirits as well as your heart rate. Greg's voice carries beautifully, while still staying true to their punk rock sound. The Pete's guitarwork is fairly simple, but holds the songs up, nonetheless. Bryan's bassage is innovative and catchy, and rolls on flawlessly through every track. And Michael's drumming is spot-on and aggressive, and it totally keeps you movin'. One of my favorite things about the Bouncing Souls is their lyrics, which are real and easy to relate to. They sing of good and bad times, old friends and new ones, love lost and love found, and about reconnecting with the things that make you happy. "How I Spent My Summer Vacation" will get you through the day floating on a cloud of pure liveliness and bliss. Who wouldn't love that? It's hard to narrow down my favorites on this album, but they'd have to be "Private Radio", "Lifetime", "Broken Record", "Late Bloomer", and "The Something Special". It's great stuff so go buy it!! And also, if you get the chance to see these guys live, go for it! Their live show is just as promising if not more than this album.

4-0 out of 5 stars Always raises my spirits.
Alot of my Cd collection Is dark(Darkthrone,Burzum)Depressing(Skinny puppy, wumpscut)Angry(black flag,Slayer) and Heavy and fast(Agoraphobic nosebleed, exhumed) But This album and other BS albums Are always a breath of fresh air. With light lyrics about love, freindship(Manthem is the ultimate drinking song when your with the guys) and BMX bikes Its hard to be in a frumpy mood listening to them. Its fun,Its up beat and If you don't want to get up and jump around or dance. You might be dead. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing for a DK fan who heard "Worker's Song"
I was REALLY psyched when I heard "Workers Song".I had never heard Dropkick Murphys before, but I like punk, and especially meaningful punk, a la Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Sex Pistols, Clash, Flipper, DOA, and others.I should have listened to the reviews that mentioned it was all three chords and lots of noise.
5-0 out of 5 stars Aezome

3-0 out of 5 stars A near miss
For fans of the band's immense Page Avenue, this album essentially walks the correct path. The songwriting is much of the same: gentle waves of sorrow and longing to be crashed upon by Marsala's impressive raptor-like wail.
1-0 out of 5 stars your going down.
this album sucks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Real Music at it's best
I remmeber when I first bought this , I got it when year of the spider came out and being new to cold at the time i listen to this album and thought is was ok then I listen to it again and was blown away by this album ,it quickly became one of my favorite albums and bands . Scooter Wards vocals sound amazing , the music sends chills down your spine just in the first few seconds of the 1st song just got wicked and in the song send in the clowns as it builds up as he says send in the clowns then it just exposeds and he screams send in the clowns. But over all there are no bad songs on 13 ways to bleed on stage , it one of those albums thats u can listen to and not have to skip any songs. I have to say my favorite songs are just got wicked , end of the world, confession , send in the clowns, witch, and bleed. I highly recommed this album and year of the spider and there self titled album .
5-0 out of 5 stars AMAZING production (recording quality)
Ok, i normally don't post reviews on here, but i've heard complaints about the "recording quality" on this albums - the drums specifically.
5-0 out of 5 stars Exceptional

5-0 out of 5 stars Coked out Emo at it's finest
This CD is so amazing I still listen to it.
5-0 out of 5 stars Flawless
I'm going to have to jump on the bandwagon and rate this item 5 stars. This is very impressive stuff. The first time I listened to it the drums in "Seven Years" left me breathless. The guitars are just beautiful, wonderful sounding chords in "They Perch...." Words just can't describe how wonderful these songs are.
5-0 out of 5 stars will they release a full length LP?
This is probably the 1st time i've been blown away with an EP. Saosin's Translating The Name is about heavy riffs and great chorus hooks and sometimes even confusing lyrics. it's hard to pin down a favourite track on this, but Lost Symphonies & 3rd measurement in C really hit the spot for me.

3-0 out of 5 stars A little Destructible
Rancid has never made a bad album. But this is not Rancid's best album.Everything is (as I'm sure you've heard) very poppy. And it continues Rancid's experimental style which makes them such a brilliant band. It's not my favorite album but other than that it's okay (thus the 3/5).

4-0 out of 5 stars get over it
reading some peoples reviews on various items (including this album) just makes me realize how incredibly quick people are to judge a band based on their actions and not their music. first off i'd like to point out that rancid never actually signed an official recording contract with warner brothers. THey simply signed a distro deal. but that's besides the point..any band (or any person for that matter) that trys to say that they wouldn't wanna as much money as they could for doing what they love they are liars trying to garnish "punk points". I actually really liked this record. YOU cannot deny that "red hot moon" and "tropical london" are incredibly catchy. yes this album does have a bit more poppier feel to it then their previous work. But, I think this album is such a refreshing sound after the dissapoint of 2000.plus there's a song on here about "django" (the movie not that fat "mc" from skinnerbox). Oh, one last note. I have never really understood why people criticize album covers when writing revues.

3-0 out of 5 stars Indestructible
Indestructible~ Rancid is an alright album but nothing more. The lyrics are simple and straightforward and there is nothing wrong with the vocals. Yet it sounds like a weak copy of the Clash and that is not a good thing. The cover is atrocious and looks quite shoddy. I hope they did not pay the album designer a ton of cash since the album design is a joke and a high-school kid could have come up with something more creative and had better drawing skills. The text inside the book-left is hard to read and over all it looks like a two dime project. Do not get me wrong, the album is not bad, but it is just and gets the 3 out of 5 stars that it deserves. ... Read more
