For fans of the band's immense Page Avenue, this album essentially walks the correct path. The songwriting is much of the same: gentle waves of sorrow and longing to be crashed upon by Marsala's impressive raptor-like wail.

3-0 out of 5 stars A little Destructible
Rancid has never made a bad album. But this is not Rancid's best album.Everything is (as I'm sure you've heard) very poppy. And it continues Rancid's experimental style which makes them such a brilliant band. It's not my favorite album but other than that it's okay (thus the 3/5).

4-0 out of 5 stars get over it
reading some peoples reviews on various items (including this album) just makes me realize how incredibly quick people are to judge a band based on their actions and not their music. first off i'd like to point out that rancid never actually signed an official recording contract with warner brothers. THey simply signed a distro deal. but that's besides the point..any band (or any person for that matter) that trys to say that they wouldn't wanna as much money as they could for doing what they love they are liars trying to garnish "punk points". I actually really liked this record. YOU cannot deny that "red hot moon" and "tropical london" are incredibly catchy. yes this album does have a bit more poppier feel to it then their previous work. But, I think this album is such a refreshing sound after the dissapoint of 2000.plus there's a song on here about "django" (the movie not that fat "mc" from skinnerbox). Oh, one last note. I have never really understood why people criticize album covers when writing revues.

3-0 out of 5 stars Indestructible
Indestructible~ Rancid is an alright album but nothing more. The lyrics are simple and straightforward and there is nothing wrong with the vocals. Yet it sounds like a weak copy of the Clash and that is not a good thing. The cover is atrocious and looks quite shoddy. I hope they did not pay the album designer a ton of cash since the album design is a joke and a high-school kid could have come up with something more creative and had better drawing skills. The text inside the book-left is hard to read and over all it looks like a two dime project. Do not get me wrong, the album is not bad, but it is just and gets the 3 out of 5 stars that it deserves. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost As Good As It Gets For Pop Punk
Ever since the day I picked up "This Is A Stickup... Don't Make It A Murder" nearly six months ago, it has been in constant rotation from my cd collection. Now of course Hit The Lights are not innovating the pop-punk sound that is already known and has been established for quite a few years now, but along with a handful of other bands (My American Heart, The Audition, Paramore), they are helping to call attention back to a genre that seems to have been losing relevance lately. I guarantee if you have been looking for an album chock full of sing-a-long style choruses, catchy melodies and plenty of upbeat, rocking songs, then you should rush yourself to your local record store and get your hands on a copy of this album.
4-0 out of 5 stars Short on substance, but enjoyable
So, in case you haven't noticed, HTL is probably going to be the next fall out boy/new found glory pop-punk megahit. Their music is littered with hooks, injected with energy waiting to be danced/moshed to by pop-punkers everywhere. It would seem that with the ammount of new school punkers "maturing", a new band would steer clear of a somewhat generic sound, but HTL don't seem to care, because nothing about their debut screams "original" or "mature". I agree with the reviewer who compaired 'stick up' to 'sticks and stones'. The lead singer sounds ALOT like nfg's jordan pundik, and 'these backs were made for stabbing', along with a bunch of other tracks, sound like they were ripped from the nfg playbook. So, I guess if you enjoyed "Take this to your grave", "Sticks and stones" or ever "Chroma", you'll for sure like "stick up". If not, don't even bother, cuz' there's nothing here for a non pop-punk fan

5-0 out of 5 stars my favorite, maybe yours too
Hit The Lights is a fun band that makes a great live act full of energy and excitement. Ever since my friend introduced me to their EP "Until we Get Caught" i've been hooked, and have considered them my favorite band since. my favorite tracks on the cd include:

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Worth the Wait
Towards the middle of FM Static's sophomore release, there is a tremendous song titled "Next Big Thing."However, the rest of the album is watered down, filled with ballads, and absurd lyrics. This would be tolerable if the songs were good, but only a few are.It seems like they are going through the motions on this disc, which is WAY below the standards they set on their debut album. The melodies are there, but the performances are lacking energy and it is way overproduced. The new Hawk Nelson or Stellar Kart CD is a better way to spend your money.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good album, but not straight away...
If you're buying the long-expected sequal to 2003's "What Are You Waiting For?" expecting an album with exactly the same formula (as I was), you are going to be disappointed.
4-0 out of 5 stars FM Static has nothing to be 'ashamed' of.
I was a little aprehensive on purchasing this record because of my recent disliking of punk/pop music, much like FM Static's previous album, "What Are You Waiting For?". Don't get me wrong, I liked the album when I first bought it, almost 4 years ago, but I had started to out grow that type of music. Regardless, I was curious and ready for some new music. After listening to "Critically Ashamed" for the first time, I thought, "What have I done? Why did I spend my money on this?", but after a few more spins, I found myself loving the album more and more. There's a pretty big difference between this album and their debut album; the latter being more fun and catchy. But this album has it's own feel and sound to it that, I think, makes it just as good. The album has quite a few slow songs on it, but they're solid songs. The only track I don't really care for is "Flop Culture". The chorus and verses are nothing that you haven't heard before and the ending just drags on. But, the second track "Six Candles" compensates for that. After that is the up-beat "Next Big Thing" which stays true to FM Static's last record. "America's Next Freak" has a slower chorus and isn't as up-beat, but the lyrics and message are good. This song showcases Trevor McNevan's witty lyrics. "Tonight" is one of the nice, slower songs. The chorus is really good. The only think I don't like about this song is the keyboard during the bridge, an instrument that makes an appearance in the album a few more times than I would have liked. Track number 7 is my personal favorite so far, "The Video Store". The pre-chorus and chorus are very catchy. "Girl of the Year", "Nice Piece of Art", and "What if Feels Like", are other solid songs. "Waste of Time" is really the only stand out song, sounding a little more mature that the rest of the album. And then the closer, "Moment of Truth" is a fun, sweet love song that Trevor wrote when he proposed to his wife.

5-0 out of 5 stars I am SO glad I finally found this CD!
I had been wanting the Josie and the Pussycats soundtrack for nearly a year.I looked everywhere for it, including CD stores, bookstores, and places like Walmart, but sadly, I was unable to find it.I was upset about it, but I finally found it at the flea market in my hometown 2 days ago!I listened to all of it and it was awesome! And one of my favorite bands, Daze Off, sang one of their songs, "3 Small Words" at one of their concerts.Overall, the best songs on this CD are "Shapeshifter", "You're A Star", and "Money".I love every song on it though!

4-0 out of 5 stars Really Good!!
This CD is really good. I own the movie and I've listened to all the songs. My favs, are You're A Star, Spin Around, and 3 Small Words. I like the other songs but they can get annoying sometimes. They didn't exactly need to put the Du Jour (Is That How You Spell It?) songs on, but let them do what they want to do. Over All it's really good.

5-0 out of 5 stars Josie And The PussyCats [2001]
This is what a REAL soundtrack sounds like! Kay Hanley from Letters To Cleo does Josie's vocals and Great vocals at that.

5-0 out of 5 stars Intelligent rock at its finest
I must admit, I had never heard of this band until a good friend of mine sent me a song of theirs. The moment I heard it, I was hooked. The lyrics are intelligent and tap into real emotion. A must have for anyone who likes to have some substance with their strumming.

5-0 out of 5 stars TOM TIM DAVE & D
I have had the pleasure to know these talented young men, not just by there music, but by their live present and extrodanary ability to go above and beyond for there fans.. There music, and stage presents, and lyrics make them one of the few bands out there that are not classified as POSERS, they are all heart and music..

this is an amazing cd. This band has a way with words that i have never encountered before, they have the ability to write songs that relate to just about everyone. 5-0 out of 5 stars Best of all I've heard from them so far
I actually started my experience with Alkaline Trio with this CD a few years ago, so maybe it's just that I've listened to it the most, but of the three I have so far (I also have Crimson, Maybe I'll Catch Fire...and I'm waiting for Goddammit! to come in), this CD is my favorite.
5-0 out of 5 stars its ok but...
its like when the Sex Pistols lost Sid Vicious or when Blink 182 got Travis Barker or when Green Day got played on the radio...wait no its not. all the hardcore Alkaline Trio fans im sure are upset that finally their favorite band got recognized and now they have to find real issues to find angst in. im so sorry for you. this is their best album. it has lyrics that make you want to check your closet before you go to sleep at night and music that makes you want to kill whatever might be in your closet. it is the perfect mix of a sweet and sour muscial/lyrical realtionship. im sorry if you dont like the fact that they have gotten better but you know what...there is always the new simple plan album. they are pretty bummed that their dad took away their platinum visa cards and have to drive around in the familes mid sized BMW now. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Green Day's first...and maybe finest.
Don't hate me, but I was introduced to Green Day by American Idiot, which was the first CD I had which was really mine. I enjoyed it a lot, and soon I was an obsessive FREAK over the band. I'm still missing "Kerplunk", but other than that my Green Day collection is just about complete. Ok, now that I'm done telling you my life story, here's some info on the album:
5-0 out of 5 stars Uncut Punk
I cannot say much more about this album that hasn't been said, but I will attempt to write all that hasn't been said. After the release of American Idiot, I noticed a cover of some magazine that stated that Green Day could now be acknowledged as one of the greatest bands ever... I had my doubts about that. Sure American Idiot was a decent album, but it was not the best album of even the last 5 years. I set out to explore the rest of their catalogue however. Their music shifted from ear-pleasing but still boring pop-punk (Dookie, Insomniac), consistent but borrowed material (Warning), and complete disaster in an attempt to try something new (Nimrod). I wasn't wholly impressed with the band. This was the last album I heard. And I was completely blown away. It was a re-revolution: Green Day had created that unclean, perfect punk sound that the Ramones had created in 1976. The Ramones sound is more prominent on here than other albums, which is definitely a great thing for the band as any one who listens to this album would say. I wish they carried on with this sound a little longer, but then again it would not be as wonderful in retrospect. Brilliant, from their epononymous song to "Rest" and all the other great tunes. One of the greatest punk albums ever.

1-0 out of 5 stars i take back saying warning was their worst...
due to the greatness of dookie and insomniac, i must admit that i do like and had liked green day for a little while..but mainly for those albums...EVERYONE kept mentioning that this was the best cd they ever made, so i went out and got it and listened...this cd sucks!this album is basically pop laced with pop-punk for ages 12-under...this really reeks of whining over nothing badly!

5-0 out of 5 stars Nfg's Best
This is probably their best album.
4-0 out of 5 stars One of the giants in pop punk
Pop-punk. It is the unfortunate voice of a generation, and viciously scorned by the old punks. For good reason I guess. Pop punk went from being just an offshoot of punk with more hooks to becoming a new outlet for the newly emerging emo generation to become a part of bands. Most of it is unfortunate. Some bands, however, embrace their music as simply pop-punk and don't hope to be anything else. One such band is New Found Glory. I do have one thing to say to you old punks, though. Your music was amazing. I am right there with you. But for young kids with no exposure to it, this kind of stuff is a great building block for better music. Just be happy pop punk bands are stealing some of the spotlight from boy bands, pop princesses, and rappers.
5-0 out of 5 stars Wow!
This is the only album of ANY artist, where I like *every single track*. All twelve songs. And I usually consider an album great if only about 75% of them are worthwhile. And 100% of these are far, far better than worthwhile. Truly an amazing album, and totally worth buying. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Why did I ever pass this up?
Before Warped Tour this year I had never really listened to Saves the Day.A friend had recommended them forever but each time for some reason I brushed them off.I watched half of their regular set at Warped and liked what I heard, then I happened to catch their acoustic set and was immediatly hooked.I came back to my friend demanding to borrow one of their cds.Stay What You Are is what I got. This is one of the most consistent almbums I have ever heard. All the songs are just so good. The music, the lyrics, and especially Chris's voice bleed emotion. The songs are often dark but still I can't resist jumping around and having fun.Stay What You Are is a perfect example of life's soundtrack.

5-0 out of 5 stars I should of had my hammer and a few rusty spikes...
Stay What You Are is easily Saves the Day's greatess album. Saves the Day's first two albums, Can't Slow Down and Through Being Cool, were both great albums. With Stay What You Are, STD shows growth as a musicians and a much more mature and refined sound than they had on their first two albums. Considering they recorded Can't Slow Down when they were teenagers, this makes sense.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Album
This album is the best album ever! There are loads of really cool tracks like surfer babe and saturday nite just to name a few. Personally, I think everyone should get it, not only because it is a great album, but because McFly are such a talented band.

4-0 out of 5 stars In the mold of BUSTED !
This popped up as a Amazon Recommends - and I'm glad I picked it up.More original, fun, POP music.Perfect to pop in the dash and rip around country roads.Even the tracks that copy (or are copied by) other compatriate groups (such as Busted) - so far anyway - each of the groups has their own sound and cover version that changes the song considerably. This is much better than the typical American Idol POP Crap releases.

5-0 out of 5 stars McFly:- Room On The 3rd Floor
Look, McFly really aren't that bad. They write their own songs, and play their own music, and to be quite honest with you, they're very talented. Their lyrics are good, because you can actually relate to them. They talk about teens problems in life and the ups and downs of love, which I really respect them for. They've also been a great success in the UK: they've released six singles so far; four of them have climbed to #1, and sure the other two were also hits, and this album also got #1. Their new album Wonderland is also tipped to hit the #1 spot. They've also won their first BRIT award (best pop act - deservedly so), and bagged up an impressive five awards at this years' Smash Hits poll awards, earlier this year, including Danny - sexiest male! 5-0 out of 5 stars Most underrated band in music today
After listening to this album, you too will realize that Jay Clifford, the lead vocalist of Jump, Little Chilren is one of the most underrated songwriters in music today. Not only are the songs on this CD technically superb (Clifford certainly has the writing chops) but they are impressive even to the casual music fan who knows nothing about the technical aspects of music. The band's indescribable style combined with the pitch-perfect voice of Clifford forms a brilliant album. The standouts are Mother's Eyes, Pigeon, Yearling and the title track. The only down side to this album is the disbandment of the band due to financial problems related to illegal music downloading. You would be wise to pick up a copy and discover this talented group!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow!
What a great CD!This is the type that you can listen to the wholeCD, and not skip to all the good songs--they're all good!

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm a new fan and I think this record is great
I read the other reviews on here and I can see why people who have liked AFI for a long time and have everything may not need this album, but I just got into AFI when Sing The Sorrow came out and then I just bought decemberunderground. This album helped me figure out which of the other albums I might like.Turn out that I like the Black Sails and Art of Drowning albums better than the earlier stuff but the really early songs on this album are cool but not really my kind of music.
3-0 out of 5 stars Not Very Essential
Since AFI had spent years in the underground expanding their fan base and appeal to ridiculous heights, it was only a matter of time before a cd of this nature surfaced. Given the success of their commercial breakthrough "Sing The Sorrow", no one should be surprised in the least that Mr. Holland and Nitro records decided to put out this compilation to cash in on AFI's popularity. Also considering the band was not even involved in the arrangement or selection of this disc, and it makes things seem even shadier. While if you've never listened to AFI before and you are looking for a good place to start, "A Fire Inside" might be appropriate, it's nothing more than a compilation of old songs, and will seem fairly disappointing to any fan who's been around a lengthy amount of time.
4-0 out of 5 stars an introduction to AFI !
This was the first afi album i bought and i wasnt let down. Ok mybe it was just nitro making a compilation and alot of afi fans arent happy about it but if your just getting into the band like i was, i think that this albums holds many of afi's great songs ( some might disagree!). But after you'v got this album you should buy "ART OF DROWNING" true hardcore! ... Read more

Editorial Review

The arrival of Eve 6's third album was preceded by the curious news that frontman Max Collins had been cited for indecent exposure charges after he allegedly wandered into a hotel lobby in Pittsburgh naked except for some strategically placed shaving cream. It seemed like an ominous sign: After inking a major label deal straight out of high school, becoming Top 40 stars with its self-titled 1998 debut, and relentlessly touring its sophomore album, 2000's Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Album
I think Eve6 may be the most underrated band of the 90s. It's a shame they aren't around anymore, as this, their last album, is every bit as catchy and fresh as their first 2. Check it out!

2-0 out of 5 stars Dissapointment after almost 7 years of fandom
I'm in college now and I first started liking Eve 6 in the 6th grade. I've been a huge fan because I could never get enough to of the band's energetic, kick back and jam music, nor enough of the tongue twist lyrics that make you laugh and go "haha, I love that line". These were the reasons I adore their self titled and Horrorscope albums. When It's all in your head came out, I was rel
