Editorial Review

Having worked their way from Omaha, Nebraska, to small clubs, and then on to the big time, 311 appreciate their success and the fans that got them there. That being said, one can only assume that they had the best intentions at heart when assembling their first live set. Unfortunately, those good vibes couldn't pull this predictable and relatively uneventful collection over the top. Most of the tracks here are note-for-note renditions of studio recordings. Die-hard fans will dig Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars 311 = live heaven.
This is a fairly sweet live album from 311, even if it is a little predictable. Actually I'm glad to see that it's not just a live hits collection, however I do love "Transistor" and "All Mixed Up". My biggest beef though is where's "Do You Right"? I mean c'mon. This also, as good as it is, struggles in some spots to re-create their live energy. I'd send the newcomer to the "Greatest Hits" disc, and call this mostly a fanatic must, especially with "Who's Got The Herb" included. As always, listening to anything from 311 "Feels So Good".

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best live albums.
If you're not familiar with 311 or you're new, this album is a must for all fans alike. There are no fillers in this one and it's sure to keep you pleased. 5-0 out of 5 stars 311 and Sublime are the greatest of all time
This cd to start is great. It has a lot of 311's best songs.I like down and whos got the herb, a lot it is a great live cd that has a lot of great drumb and guitar solos. If you are true to the game and love 311 then you gotta get this cd it is one of the best ever. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Joe Ely's self-titled (and currently out-of-print) 1977 solo debut, imbued with his stark, West Texas flatlands milieu, hit many like a Southwest tornado. Since then, Joe Ely has become an admired cult figure who epitomized alt country and Americana years before those terms existed. Each decade, he's been captured onstage, beginning with 1980's Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Live Album
I won't try to top the other reviewers - they're right! I do believe this is the finest live album ever.
5-0 out of 5 stars Not Enough Stars in the Universe to Rate this Album
As a son of the South Plains that was transplanted to VA, I grew up on stories of Joe and the Lubbock gang, Tornado Jams, Stubbs-the original, etc. Unfortunately chances to see Joe, to say nothing of Jesse or Lloyd, are always few and far between in these parts, but thankfully Live @ Antone's captures this group, along with Teye and the incredible Joel Guzman, at their very best. No studio accurately captures the energy and furry with which this group plays, and if this album doesn't give you chills then you may want to check your pulse. Chances are that if you're reading this then the songs are familiar and there's no need to go into detail. All that really can be said is, BUY THIS ALBUM!

5-0 out of 5 stars Stunning CD!!!
I've been a casual listener of Country music for the last decade or so. I've generally preferred artists like Dwight Yoakum and Mary Chapin Carpenter, "tweeners" that don't always get the airplay on today's country radio airwave stations (thankfully, satellite radio has solved that, with channels like XCountry on XM Radio). Every so often over the last few years I'd hear a song by Joe Ely and make a mental note to keep an ear out for more of his stuff. A few weeks back, I heard the live version of Gallo del Cielo on XM Radio ... it was the first time I'd ever heard the song and loved it. Literally the next day I got an e-mail from Amazon for Joe Ely's Millenium Collection (you know the old "based on your past purchases, we thought you might like this" e-mail). I bought that CD and, after reading several of the reviews here, rolled the dice and bought Live at Antone's. I can't recall ever buying two CDs at once for an artist I was previously unfamiliar with. It was an excellent move!!! I've probably listened to the Live at Antone's 30+ times already, and it gets better and better. From the opening song on, this album flat-out impresses. Gallo del Cielo is a classic "crank the volume and sing along and I don't care what the people in the car next to me think" song. Ranches and Rivers, Road Goes on Forever, All Just to Get to You, Me and Billie the Kid, Up on the Ridge, Everybody got Hammered ... they're all wonderful songs, perfect for his voice, and accompanied by a top-notch band. If you like to roll the dice every once in a while and take a reach on a new (to you) artist, start with this CD. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Live Cure - No Overdubs Used Or Needed!
The liner notes proudly proclaim that no overdubs were used on this recording. Having seen the Cure in concert, I know how powerful they are live, so I have no doubt this statement is true. These songs taken from 4 different shows in May of '84 show off the Cure with a terrific line up that wasn't around for too long (even by Cure standards). M.V.P. Robert Smith is in fine form and his guitar is often massive, sometimes employing an effect that makes it sound like a jet taking off. Drummer Andy Anderson favors heavy-hitting beats and keeps everything very up tempo. Founding member Lol Tolhurst's role on keyboards, questionable as always, seems to be largely relegated to elongated notes, although they are often useful and effective. Multi-instrumentalist Porl Thompson rejoins the fold here, a super-talented guy who would go on to spend many years with the Cure. Abandoning his previous role as a control room wizard, Phil Thornally capably rounds out the quintet on bass.
5-0 out of 5 stars The best live album by The Cure
This is the best of the live albums by The Cure. This band has had so many line-up changes and this was one of their most interesting line-ups.Here they sound like a raw post-punk band. Even "The Walk", a normally upbeat song, sounds dark, moody and goth.A great era of The Cure captured live. I only wish there were more tracks on here!

5-0 out of 5 stars Original Vinyl Release Has Run-Off Groove Phrases
This is definitely one of their better live recordings. The sound is crisp and the treatment of each song is simple but careful. One note of interest: in this version of "10:15 Saturday Night," an odd pausein the first line suggests that something might have caught Mr. Smith'sattention...I guess you'll just have to purchase it and listen to see whatI mean! The only version of Concert - The Cure Live I currently have is oneof the 1984 UK 12" vinyl pressings (fixh10).The track listing is thesame as the Swedish version advertised on this site, at least in regards totitles and track order. One of the great things about the format/versionI have is that the record has phrases in the run-off grooves.Side Onesays, "PLAY ME LOUD," and Side Two says, "EAT ME TOO." (A lot of earlier Cure and special Smith project vinyl pressings havesimialr quirky run-off groove phrases.) All in all, this is a great liverecording, and I would recommend any version or format of this album...andthere are quite a few of them out there...you just have to look for them. When you get it, PLAY IT LOUD. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars My First Pearl Jam Bootleg
I'm going to go straight to the point - if you liked or like any of Pearl Jam's music, by this bootleg. With three CD's of live songs, one entirely acoustic, Pearl Jam is set to amaze.Without even going to the concert back in 2003, it is easy to feel Pearl Jam's stage presence and energy.
5-0 out of 5 stars Begins with a beast.
I'd buy this live disc piece just for the rendition of the opener, Long Road (best song Pearl Jam has to offer live, IMO), and for the amazing setlist it has to offer. This show has gained a reputation for being one of Pearl Jam's top all-time, and surely ranks alongside the "State College" show as one of their best from the '03 tour.
3-0 out of 5 stars The acoustic set deserves 5 stars
The greatest Long Road ever recorded. Brilliant. The acoustic set on the first disc is a must have. Unfortunately the real concert is a little dissapointed. Eddie got some problems with his voice. I suppose the concert is too long. 3 stars will do.

5-0 out of 5 stars A "LIVE" masterpiece
This CD is an ablolute "must have" for fans of Texas music and/or Guy Clark. If you are not a fan of either now, you will be a fan of both after listening to "Keepers."You will understand why native as well as naturalized Texans describe their state more as a state-of-mind rather than a geographical location. Its sort of a Zen thing.Enjoy!

3-0 out of 5 stars Not a keeper
One of life's greatest joys is a Guy Clark performance. Though I left Nashville shortly before the one recorded here, I listened to Mr. Clark play every dive in town for 20 years, sometimes sick, sometimes overly fortified with alcohol, and he was always the consummate showman. As such, the idea of a live recording was very appealing to me. The result, however, is a little disappointing.5-0 out of 5 stars Texas Without Being There
Guy Clark is the unofficial music ambassador for the great state of Texas. His songs are simple and straightforward tackling the always tough relationship department and lightweight subjects like eggs, tomatoes, chili, trainsand his home state. ( "Texas 1947", "Texas Cookin" & "South Coast Of Texas" )He's also intelligent when it comes to a live recording, putting together a great band which includes brilliant sideman - Verlon Thompson.Guy is definitely ON this night balencing songs, stories and laughter. The album literally brings Texas to my home until I can make the next visit. The purists seem to like his first two LP's found on "Essential", the critics pick is "Boats To Build", but the real Guy Clark is "Live" and this one is for the "Keepers". ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Still great..even without Mo Tucker
Though I miss Mo Tucker's drumming on this concert recording (she was too pregnant at the time!) the sound quality is noticeably improved over the original edition. You also get an extended version of 'Some Kinda Love' and nice live versions of 'Candy Says' and 'I'm Set Free' on this remastered deluxe version. Sell your copy of the old version and get this!

4-0 out of 5 stars Live and loud
It seems appropriate that rocker-muse Bebe Buell once wrote and sang, "Cut my teeth at Max's Kansas City/My soul is pure rock." It was the original rock'n'roll club, with drag queens, actors, hit singers and underground hits in the same room. It had Andy Warhol, Mick Jagger and then-waittress Debbie Harry hanging out in the same place.
5-0 out of 5 stars A CLASSIC "OFFICIAL" BOOTLEG
This is SO WORTH IT!!The Velvets at nearly their greatest live and a classic NYC-sleaze-nightlife document. The ambience is perfect. The band sounds wonderful. The only better Velvets live documents are the CDs, "Live 1969 Vol 1" & "Vol 2".This is a very close second.Stay away from the "Quine Tapes" - awful sound quality. This DELUXE version of "Live at Max's Kansas City" is the one to have!! (Rather than the old single disc version.)It is a HUGE improvment!!If you're even thinking of getting it, GET IT!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Pearl Jam - Live, New York 7/8/03
Moving tribute to New Yorkers for post 9/11 concert.

4-0 out of 5 stars Huge Pearl Jam fan, but this one's overrated
The 7/8 show is good, but it's overrated- Eddie mentions on the next bootleg how memorable a night it was, but you don't get that from the bootleg. It's just an OK Pearl Jam show. It's got an inordinate number of Riot Act songs, most of which (I Am Mine, Cropduster, 1/2 Full) are card-carrying members of the momentum-killers club. They also butcher "In My Tree" by removing Matt Cameron's stellar drumwork from the forefront, and they let Ben Harper sing lead on Indifference, which is not a good thing. On the plus side, the 7/8 show does include good takes on hits Evenflow, Black, and Betterman, as well as rare covers Crown of Thorns, Sonic Reducer, and Baba O' Riley.

1-0 out of 5 stars Beautifully packaged album masks Buckley's disdain for some of songs
I was not particularly aware of Buckley until I heard "Hallellujah" on a TV show.I bought this album since it had the longest version of the song on it, of any of his albums. What a disappointment. He seems to play it as a duty, showing little respect for a truly wonderful song.
3-0 out of 5 stars Decent live album, but...
I was and remain a fan of his first full LP "Grace", a pretty, if slight album that grew with each listen. His unforutunate death at such a young age is, of course, a tragic happenstance. But facts are facts; Jeff Buckley was a work in progress when he died. He had a long way to go, before he could live up to the "musical prodigy" hype that has been bestowed upon him by obsessesed teen/twentysomething girls who have his posters adorning their walls.Like Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain and Tupac before him, Jeff Buckley has now joined the ranks of rock matyrdom, and is being eagerly milked by greedy record companies and sold to horny, lonely, sensitive, misunderstood girls and boys who prefer relationships with dead icons over flesh and blood. Lets face it, if Jeff Buckley looked like "Skreech" from "Saved by The Bell", would anyone other that the extremely dedicated still be talking about "Grace" today? This live album, incidentally, is the best one to get.

5-0 out of 5 stars R.I.P. Jeff Buckley
It has been 9 years since his death and record companies are still releasing some new stuff about him. This album is his third live album and for me it's the best.Although it was recorded from a casette found after his death, the sound is absolutely perfect and you can easily feel the atmosphere. This album was recorded on 6th and 7th of July 1995 at the Olympia Theatre in Paris in 2 soldout concerts and has 11 great songs featuring covers of the MC5's 'Kick out the jams' and Led Zeppelin's 'Kashmir'.This is precious for any Jeff Buckley fan,but if you have no idea about him this is a good place to start. ... Editorial Review

The guitar-led, thin-sounding rock of NYC's seminal art-punk band Television had many acolytes--from the lovelorn poetry of Australia's Go-Betweens to the more commercial sound of New Wave poppers the Knack. This live double CD, originally released on cassette in 1982, showcases the band at their most experimental and wired. Obvious standouts include the intricate, almost Coltrane-esque guitar duel between bandleaders Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd on an incredible 15-minute version of "Little Johnny Jewel," plus an equally lengthy and tormented reading of "Marquee Moon." Sound quality is extremely variable, but the spirit of the originators of the New York punk loft scene shines through, even on a relatively ordinary rendition of the Rolling Stones' "Satisfaction." Raw, dreamy, and ripe for rediscovery. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars True rock and roll genius
What a find! I've always _liked_ Television, but the studio records left me just a wee bit cold. This burns a hole in your spakers. Not just for previous fans. Art-rockers will no doubt like the studio stuff better, but rock-rockers will likely appreciate this more. I'm a bit of a tech-geek and I hate badly engineered records, but I find this eminently listenable. The sound is not necessarily full, but its reasonably crisp. It is a live reocrding after all, and sounds like it. But this should not keep anyone away. Yes, the shorter, quiter, more 'composed' songs like Venus do work better in the album versions. But most of the material here benefits from the looser, more energetic playing. One could say its more passionate, but that doesn't begin to describe it. These guys are playing like their lives are at stake. Even if disc one was a total waste, which it isn't, disc two would be worth more than the price of admission even WITHOUT 'Little Johnny Jewel", and that particular track is priceless. I think this is simply one of the great rock and documents ever, right up there with The Who Live at Leeds.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Guitar Band hands down!
If you havent heard Television and want to learn the origins of todays and tomorrows rock, than buy this record. Everyone seems to only mention Tom Verlaines work, but its the virtuosity of the guitar interplay that occurs between Richard Lloyd and Tom Verlaine (2 geniuses of the guitar) that make this band extraordinary (and Tom Verlains haunting vocals).
4-0 out of 5 stars Wish I Was There!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for Fans
This albums is great for Dinosaur Jr. /J Mascis fans.I prefer the sound on this disc to the Martin + Me live acoustic show. The shows are similar, but this ones works better for me.
4-0 out of 5 stars Unreleased: Sort of...
First off, it's J. Mascis and it's a fine solo show so it gets 4 stars. That said, if you already own "Martin + Me", you're essentially paying for 3 songs by buying this (Not the Same, Quest, and Throw Down; the later coming in at about 45 seconds). Even the arrangements and the vocal delivery are almost identical to "Martin + Me". Wouldn't shock me to hear they were recorded within a week of one another. Surprising that J let this one out of the vault. Must have been needing the royalties before he was able to convince Lou Barlow to go in on the Dinosaur Jr. reunion.

4-0 out of 5 stars A solid acoustic performance
I just picked this up. I was ecstatic that my local music store actually carried this (Zulu Records in Vancouver). Anyways, 10 of the 12 tracks are previously unreleased. Fans of the loud and squealing guitar of Dinosaur Jr might be a bit put off by this album. When they say acoustic show, they mean it. There doesn't appear to be anything else to the tracks other than acoustic guitar, vocals, and maybe a touch of reverb. This is just raw J Mascis. Anyways, the sound quality is excellent and tracks are mosty good. For me, the stand out track is definately Repulsion. This works so well as a purely acoustic number. That song alone is worth the price of the CD.

There's a couple of duds on this, but for the most part, it's got great jam versions of studio songs. If you're a Luna fan, it's well worth adding to your collection.
3-0 out of 5 stars Not Bad, But Could Be Better
Luna Live achieves the goal of any good live album. It introduces newcomers to this near-legendary alternative band, while showcasing enough new twists on their material to satisfy the most diehard of Luna fans. 5-0 out of 5 stars This Album Rocks! Ba, Ba, Ba-BaBaBa!
This was my first Luna record. What a way to begin!! I listened to the first couple of tracks on numerous occasions at the listening booths of numerous music stores and eventually broke down and bought it, mainly for the wonderfully enticing rendition of "Bewitched." Upon listening to the album in its entirety, and on a decent stereo, I was utterly amazed and completely smitten with this wonderous band. I have since bought a few of their other recordings and also had the opportunity to seem the band perform live down in Providence. This disk is perfect for both the Luna novice and the long-time fan. ... Read more

On September 13, 1995, this like-minded triumvirate of country-folk singer-songwriters joined forces for a good old-fashioned song swap. The music's warmth and relaxed vibe make it sound like it was recorded on someone's back porch in Texas as opposed to Nashville's Bluebird Café. Pulled together for an Interfaith Dental Clinic benefit by Guy Clark's wife Susanna, the three old friends sing songs and tell stories in an intimate acoustic-and-a-stool atmosphere in front of an appreciative audience--what more can you ask for when you have such compelling songwriters? The ravenous cult fans of these artists will want to add these delightful performances to their collections, but newcomers will get an engaging and useful primer on the modern Texas troubadour style. Townes Van Zandt's performance on this album made me appreciate his earlier recordings all the more, but he was still my favorite of the three.Hearing him do "Pancho and Lefty" in that rusty old voice made me weep, and his monologue about having a gold tooth extracted as a gambling debt made me laugh till I wept.It means even more now, knowing that this was very likely one of his last public appearances.
5-0 out of 5 stars 3 Brilliant Songwriters in a Relaxed Setting
Did you ever wonder what would happen if three of America's best songwriters got together to share songs and stories? This disk answers the question. Earle, Van Zandt and Clark are arguably among the best songwriters this country has to offer (Texas branch) and on this disk they share their songs with each other in round-robin fashion before a very small audience. Stripped of studio arrangements, the three performers proudly display their wares for what they are - classic songs that ought to last long after the songwriters are dead and gone.
2-0 out of 5 stars Why songwriters are not always good performers
When I first saw this cd, I thought "This has got to be great!"

4-0 out of 5 stars A fans recollection of a magical night.
This is Morphine at their raw best! This recording is a snapshot of one of Morphine's best live performances ever!Mark stated the following year that "the last time we played here at St. Andrews was one of the best shows we've ever had".The band was touring in support of their hit album "Cure For Pain" when they rolled into Detroit on this Monday night to play to one thousand lucky fans at this packed, intimate Detroit club.I remember leaving the show that night with the master tape in my bag -- that is now memorialized on the this disc -- feeling completely energized and transformed.I was repeating the phrase "that was the best show I have ever seen" over and over to any one who would listen.I thank God I was rolling tape that night, recording the "Morphine experience".Unfortunately, when Mark edited it he left out 20 minutes of great music. However, the 40 minutes that is there is exceptional.I am grateful Mark had the opportunity to again enjoy this stellar performance and found it worthy to share with all of you.He is greatly missed. If you never had the chance to see Morphine live, or want to relive the experience, buy this cd, turn the lights down low, close your eyes, crank up the volume and experience the power and magic that was Morphine!Cheers, Alan

2-0 out of 5 stars How live albums should not be produced
Morphine's Bootleg: Detroit is a textbook example of how not to assemble a live album: Take a fairly average performance; record it with second-rate equipment; do not eliminate any of the lead singer's banter, no matter how tiresome, mummbly and hackneyed ("Thank you very much, Detroit, Michigan. We're happy to be here") and leave almost half of the disc blank (Don't be fooled by the fact that Bootleg: Detroit contains eighteen tracks. Every instrumental prelude and piece of banter is considered a selection. The album is eleven songs and only forty minutes). Diehard Morphine fans who may already possess a stack of better, actual bootlegs of the band's shows, should be disappointed by Bootleg: Detroit and neophytes can certainly find better examples of the band's slinky night-rock than this murky recording of a sub par concert.

5-0 out of 5 stars MORPHINE LIVE
BUY IT!!! If you like Morphine, or kinda like Morphine, or have never even heard of Morphine, buy it.You won't be dissapointed. There are no bad songs on the album. It even has the onstage banter with the crowd. There are few bands that have been able to accomplish what Morphine has. With only 3 musicians in the band the have been able to create a huge sound and with great diversity.Mark (rest in peace) Sandman is a master with the great art of composition. With such talented musicians they have been able to create a sound like no other. And this "LIVE" albumshowcases their great ability and beautiful art.BUY IT!!! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars CHANGESBEEBOWIE
CD2 - The first CD could be a symphony of (flatus) and I'd still give this 5 stars for the nearly immaculate performances on the second disk. In particular, "Hang Onto Yourself" (track 3), "White Light/White Heat," and "Suffregette City" (featuring Mick Ronson making this totally hot kissing noise with his guitar)crackle with energy. It is truly a thrill to hear these old favorites in such a new (as such) and exciting light. Bowie and Co. burn down the BBC studios. Repeatedly. Any rock fan (but especially an old Bowie fan, of course) is likely to meltdown in ecstacy upon hearing this.
4-0 out of 5 stars Bowie Learning How to Fly, Then Flying
This is yet another interesting byproduct of the recent rush to re-release Brit groups and stars who performed during rock's glory age for various BBC TV and radio programs.Usually these are a mixed bag, as they often collect different time periods, different settings, different styles, and different sound dynamics, all wrapped onto one or two discs.Notable recent BBC collections include an early collection by the Beatles, a generally enthusiastic release from the Kinks, a great Led Zeppellin cd, and a very strong late-period Procol Harum set.
4-0 out of 5 stars GREATMUSIC
Great music, if you are a big Bowie fan you need this. If your not you just need SOME of this. One warning is there is an annoying DJ on both ends of some songs. I went to the preferences menu on iTunes and set the songs to end sooner or start later to cut the idiot off. But when he is talking over the music you can not really do this. So I knocked off a star for the DJ ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Put Nick and his bratpack The Bad Seeds on the stage where they belong
I wrote the same thing about the live CD of Nick Cave's early band, the punk act The Birthday Party. With the release of this album, "The birthday Party live 81-81", as with the live dvd "Pleasure heads must burn", Nick Cave showed he was much more than just a singer; he was a performer, shocking, arresting, preaching, screaming, howling, even menacing... but always moving.
5-0 out of 5 stars Perhaps the best introduction to Nick
Like your traditional "live" album, this is a collection of some highlights from several albums, rendered IMO perhaps better than the original versions. One of Nick's many mighty virtues is his flair for performance, and this album showcases him and the Bad Seeds clearly at the height of their powers -- not to say those powers have diminished.
5-0 out of 5 stars Bringing the Hammer Down
I have enjoyed all of Nick Cave's work with his penchant for acting , drama, and the doggerel lives of the backwaters, the crooked, the low life characters that convince us of the rawness of life and the band's story telling ability. This CD is more convincing though because you can feel the band is really engaged and you feel that you are being sung to directly as a person. There are few instances in life, even in a live set, where we the audience become we the experience. The songs connect and take you into the rhapsodic balladic stories. This is grand rock and roll, people, it's just wailing and bringing the hammer down.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Freaking great
This is an amazing collection of live studio music. The variety of songs and artists is wonderful, it will be hard to wear this out with such different styles of music on this cd. This station and KGSR out of Austin, Tx, do some of the best (if not the best) live compilation cd's that I know of. The bare bones version of Coldplay's Yellow is just amazingly soulful....the Dido contribution is a real surprise too, these are just two of the highlights, but the whole thing is so very good...buy, listen, and enjoy.

2-0 out of 5 stars Pass on this one
Radio station in-house recordings can be hit or miss. The Mountain and others have some really great productions.I wish I had passed on this one. The selections are poor with no production quality.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous live (unplugged) performances from the best artists
This album (the second in the "Sounds Eclectic" series) compiles some of the best works from one of the most eclectic radio shows there is: Morning Becomes Eclectic, which airs from Santa Monica's station KCRW (also catch the streamed version of their programs at KCRW.org). It's hard to pick one of the tracks above others: all in all, the album provides an excellent sample of some of today's best acts. However, I do have some personal favorites:Read more

ALL THE BEST SONGS ARE ON OTHER ALBUMS.
4-0 out of 5 stars Overdue for digital remastering
I remember seeing this performance series being advertised in The Village Voice & wanting desparately to go...but at 17, I didn't quite have the wherewithall to get the $ together to go & have always regretted this. But it was soon enough after that I had a summer job & the LPs were available. The sound was rather thin & scratches noticeable, so I bought the CD box soon after that. I always see this box set around (new & used), so I'm surprised that people say they haven't been able to find it. I always had half-wished that it had gone out of print, if only so that it finally gets the digital remastering (from the original tapes) that it deserves. The one thing that has bugged me about the set is that there is occassional popping/crackling noises that makes it sound as if the cd's were mastered from a pristine LP.The sound on the LP's was always very quiet & you had to turn up the volume, which made any surface noise extremely unpleasant. The CD's are louder, but the tape hiss is more obvious. Some cd's are already on their 3rd remastering.....so it seems that an upgrade is long overdue, SACD would be nice too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy it, relive it or live it for the first time...
