4-0 out of 5 stars It's not so bad...
I mean really. I own this album, and I must say that it's really good, though I admit, the third disc (Die Krupps' Odyssey of the Mind) isn't great. However, the "Funky Alternatives" are good. Orbtial's "Open Mind" was an unusual choice, but it's one of thebest Orbital songs I've heard so far. I love Meat Beat Manifesto's Industrial anthem "Psyche Out". To me, Skinny Puppy, The Shamen, Cabaret Voltaire, 23 Skidoo, Front Line Assembly are all stand-outs. As for disc two, Regenorator, Good Courage, and Apoptygma Bizerk are great. They truly define the term "Industrial" in all aspects. I recommend this! It's a great intro to anyone is curious about some of the pioneers of this kind of dance music. Hope I was able to help.

2-0 out of 5 stars Well...
I had listen to some of the tracks and fortunately I knew someone who owned it and borrowed it off them, well Orbital is an unusual choice it isan ok song although arnt they ambient? New Order shows its usual icy soundand well the rest of disk one is chock a block full of good to bad sounds. If theres one thing I noticed theres no Stabbing Westward or NIN on here ohwell. Meat Beat Manifesto makes a good contribution. The only thing thatmade me hate this set was disk three. Dont get me wrong I love industrialbut this disk 3 was terrible, the sound was cheap and didnt have any POWER.A good collection somewhat marred. If you want a really good compilationget something like the Black Bible or Music of the Shadows volume 3. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great electronic music with variety
Not all the songs are the same, which is a welcome change when it comes to compilations lately. The Information Society song is really cool, and this is the only place you can hear it.Micronaut is a solo track from the leadsinger of Sister Machine Gun, and it's SO cool!davidmahr's song is greattoo - very catchy!Overall, a great disc and you need to buy it.Now!

5-0 out of 5 stars Looking for EXCELLENT electronic/dance/industrial? Buy THIS!
Never mind if you've never heard of the Control-Alt-Delete network, or of the previous releases, because this one shines alone with no need for a history. This outranks MANY electronic pop compilations I've ever seenthat are on BIG BIG record lables! Some tracks are like Erasure, whileothers closer to Frontline Assembly, a wide range yet they still somehowfit and flow! :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Guaranteed to move your body!
Highly recommended! Many of the songs have a bit of an industrial edge. The two most original and unique songs are the two instrumental pieces. However, all the songs are powerful and catchy.I found this to be astunning collection of quality dance music, from the best musicians in thegenre. It's the perfect soundtrack to take us into the next millenium! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars MORE TECHNO THAN INDUSTRIAL
THIS COMPILATION IS OK. JUST OK ! THERE ISN'T MUCH TO HOLLER ABOUT! THE FEW TRACKS THAT ARE GOOD, I ALREADY HAD :(:( TRACK BY EVILS TOY IS THE BETTER SONG OVERALL! THE COMPILATION IS MORE FOR SOMEONE WHO LIKES HAPPY DANCY TECHNO. I LIKE MY TECHNO TO BE DARK, VERY DARK AND DANCY:):) BUY IT TO TRY OUT NEW STUFF!! DON'T BUY IT IF YOU ALREADY KNOW ALOT ABOUT EBM/INDUSTRIAL MUSIC!

4-0 out of 5 stars Highly danceable...and very, very sexy.
This CD serves as a wonderful introduction to the ever-growing glut of well-crafted electro/industrial bands. The compilation, unlike many of its like-minded predecessors or followers, does not drag in the middle, doesnot become middling. There are some superior tracks on here, but the onethat I think exemplifies talent- and longevity- is Die Form's "Rain ofBlood." It's atmospheric, dynamic, and dripping with erotica. Thatalone is worth the purchase. (Note: Their CD, "Duality", is alsoamazing.) Other notable songs came from Razed in Black, Front LineAssembly, Regenerator, Girls Under Glass, and numerous others. Truly, it'sa great find. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good to drive to.
Decent stuff! Some soft spots I could do without,Battery in particular aren't as sharp as they used to be, and I'd prefer more Sunshine Blind on this one (just personal favorites-- liked Vol. 1 better). Industrial isgreat to drive, type, vacuum, chop celery, or pop bubblewrap to. And mostof these bands avoid the industrial sound-cliches that have started to sendme running for Johnny Cash albums.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars if you love skinny puppy, you'll hate this
A little background: This cd ended up on my computer. I listened to it, was disgusted, gave it a few more tries since i was bored, and deleted everything but dead of winter.
3-0 out of 5 stars It's not Skinny Puppy
Ok, we all know this CD is not Skinny Puppy and as the CD says, "We will never see their like again."This CD is more like pop versions of their songs.
1-0 out of 5 stars 1/4th Star should be a rating option

4-0 out of 5 stars Plenty of gold mixed in with the ore
This sampler is proof that Tess Records died too soon. All of these bands are still active to varying degrees, but it must've been nice having them all under one label. You get sixteen tracks (nine previously unreleased).Even though they're not ALL standouts, it's worth getting for the really good songs.4-0 out of 5 stars this quest
i was first introduced to this cd 4 years ago at a local goth club. the song was called seconds, and i have spent the last 4 years searching for this cd. aria; a tess records anthology is wonderful. the song 'seconds' alone makes the cd worth every penny. with other classic songs from faith and the muse, autumn, and other tess record artists, this cd will make a perfect addition to your gothic/darkwave collection.

3-0 out of 5 stars Some good songs.
Although I enjoyed some of the songs such as: August rain, the silver circle, and sever, I felt this album was overall a disapointment. I will admit to listening to select portions over and over but if your not familiar with the bands on this cd save your money, or buy it used. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Decent, if spotty genre intro
This is a nice introductory compilation for someone who is relativelyunfamiliar with the genre. That said, don't look for any bauhaus, siouxsieor (god forbid) marilyn manson sound-a-likes here. The sound is moreunderground than the fodder that passes for popular goth and industrialthese days. The bands run the gamut from founding fathers Psychic TV,Nico, and the March Violets (an old favorite of mine!)to newer tracks bySpahn Ranch and Children on Stun. Also included are club classics byLaeather Strip, Rosetta Stone and the Wake. The most notable tracks arethe aforementioned Rosetta Stone's "Adrenaline" (overplayed, yes,but still a great dance track!) and Pressurehead, who in "TimeSlip" blend the best of Killing Joke, Joy Division and early Clan ofXymox.Disappointments here include Psychic TV's weak remake of "GodStar" (They should have left well enough alone!), as well as The Wakeand Two Witches, both of whom want really really badly to sound like theSisters (Hell, don't they all?).Which, if you're a big Sisters fan mightbe a good thing.Actually, all in all a great cd to get your hands on ifyou want to look, just a very little bit, at the underbelly of earlier gothand industrial dance music from the eighties and early nineties. ...
