4-0 out of 5 stars One of the best comps ever...
Alright, I bought this comp after my record collection was stolen at a CD release party i DJ'd.I had albums by, and the albums featuring, most of the artist and tracks on Disc one "Goth Side" and a few disc by some of the artist on the "Industrial Side", even once Dj'd a party that "Razed in Black" performed at, but alot of the songs were new to me (don't listen to alot of industrial.) Disc 3 "Remix Side" features some great mixes, aall of these disc read like a good playlist from your local goth/industrial night.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great alternative music
An exceptional recall of some great alternative music, which was created before anyone called it "Goth".

4-0 out of 5 stars As advertised
The songs I recognized by title I already owned - they were often the reason I'd bought the original album. After getting this, I recognized many more by ear. This 3-disk set is damn impressive for the price - it bore a startling resemblance to sets played by local Goth or Industrial DJ's depending on the CD.The 3rd disc of remixes was a nice touch as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Godhead Is Great Godhead Is Good
Well just to let you know I listen to a lil of everything so don't think I am classafied as a so called Goth or Metalhead. Anyway I saw Godhead at a show in Nashville TN and they were one of three bands playing the other 2 were Static-X and ENDO well ENDO sucked ass and i was starting to get pissed that i paid for the ticket then these guys get on stage and KICK-ASS!! As soon as they came on i ran to the booth up front and bought this album for $10. Well the band i was there to see was Static-X and ofcource they rocked the house as well but to hear godhead for the first time was a major shock and beleave me you need this album!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Debut.
If Marilyn Manson went lighter on the metal and heavier on the goth, he'd probably sound something like Godhead, which isn't surprising, considering Manson produced the album. After bouncing around record labels and releasing several low-budget productions, the band finally finds a home for its unique blend of industrial goth-rock with Manson's Posthuman label on Priority Records.Manson does for 2000 Years of Human Error what Trent Reznor did for Antichrist Superstar by taking a band that was already great and adding some extra spike to the punch.Manson's influence is undeniable (he even puts his patented sandpaper vocals to use in Break You Down), but its Godhead's flare for combining dramatic, gothy rock with catchy dance beats over atmospheric, industrial soundscapes that steals the show. From loud rockers The Reckoning, Inside You, and Break You Down to the mellow sounds of Tired Old Man and I Hate Today, Godhead demonstrates a knack for creating emotional yet vaguely creepy music that just happens to rock considerably.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not a new direction
If you read in the CD liner notes, Bella Morte say that this album is in no way the musical direction the band is going, they just wanted to make an EP that focused on their more "punk" sounding stuff. It's a good thing because this is nowhere near as good as their previous efforts.I don't like Bella Morte's punk stuff, or punk music in general, I actually like the more electronic stuff a whole lot better. "Where Shadows Lie" is my favorite album, and "The Quiet" my second.I bought this because I'm a huge fan of the band, and I figured that I'd like pretty much anything they did, but this is pushing it.I can't say I hate this, but I definately don't like it either. There's really nothing outstanding on here, and it feels like there's a lack of emotion throughout. I only listened to it a few times, then I put on "Where Shadows Lie" and listened to some good Bella Morte.

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than As The Reasons Die
We see Bella Morte getting significantly better with Songs For The Dead, even if it is a departure from what we are used to from the band. First off, is the addition of a new, real drummer(who has since been replaced). The real drums ad a great organic feel to the band, having only heard programmed beats before. The Bass is still good and prominent, but what rules this EP even over Andy's usual melodic crooning is the guitar...its WAY up there this time. Their keyboard player adds nice little hooks here and there, making some of the songs almost jazzy, which is a nice change. Songs like Legend find the band becoming more Deathrock than anything else, which according to the band, is going to be the future of Bella Morte. In a press release they stated that they were "leaving behind the electronic-driven style of the past." I loved Where Shadows Lie(their peak performance!) and I will miss that specific sound, but the band may make it as a punk/death rock act. This EP serves as a great transitional piece that will lead into whatever the band decides to do next. My only one complaint is Andy's vocals. If Bella Morte is going to make their music more punk rockish, then he needs to stop doing the super melodic gothy vocals. No offense I really like his voice but he totally carried it way too far trying to sound passionate on As The Reasons Die. By rights he could totally have been in the backstreet boys if he were doing that type of music...thankfully hes not! So ya, to make a long story short, this is a band to be watched for sure. I recommend Where Shadows Lie and The Quiet above all b/c those records are their best work. Their first EP, The Deathrock EP wasnt that good and not nearly as experimental as this one. Remains, their first record is good too, albiet a little premature....avoid As The Reasons Die completely and buy this EP...its a fun listen. Nuff said.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not A Bad Effort
EP's are funny, they can be really good or really bad, this EP fits in the middle. I just picked it up yesterday, i was liking Where Shadows Lie more then this though. it seems Bella Morte is pushing more towards the Punk sound then the 80's goth rock i was used to. None the less, this is an ok EP. Its worth checking out since its priced cheap. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Amalgamation of synthesized & raw sound
Oh man. God Lives Udnerwater IS THE BEST BAND YOU'VE NEVER HEARD. BRIEF HISTORY:Man, they released empty in 1995 on the american recordings label, then went to 1500 and released Life Int he So-called Space-Age, but then the label went under bankruptcy, then the band had issues, went their separate ways, in the meantime dave released the 7 ep by fluzee and Living in syn by Robot Teen America (basically all him) and then FINALLY in 2004 he released this, UP OFF THE FLOOR, on megaforce records (...) and his solo EP, INSIDE on corporatepunishment.
4-0 out of 5 stars A Solid But Flawed Swansong From GLU...3.5 stars...
As many of you may or may not have heard, former lead singer of God Lives Underwater and what would have been future solo artist David Reilly has passed away from stomach complications. A sad and tragic fate for a great performer. He will be sorely missed.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good
If you're already a Ministry fan, you'll like this album. Not their best work but very good. The more I listen to it, the more I like it.There aren't any tracks that I would consider "killer" (except maybe No W).Some are a little weak.I'd probably give it three stars if I weren't already such a fan.
4-0 out of 5 stars Back with a bang
Following on from there last album "Animositisomina" this album sees Al and crew really to pick up the pace in terms of quality and style. This album as a whole is really just background music to Al Jourgensen's seething diatribe about the state of America in general. You can almost see the bile dripping from the speakers as you listen to tracks like "Wrong" sample lyric " You're like a rapist with a target in sight, democracy". From the blitzkrieg intro of "No W" to the fade out mexican groove of "Worm" this album is some of the best stuff "Ministry" have produced in a while. Highly recommended

5-0 out of 5 stars Al is angry and I love it!
Al Jourgensen has had a rough time. After his life spiralled out of control due to drug addiction, all seemed lost for the founding member of one the most influential industrial bands the world has ever seen. Not only did his life become consumed by his addiction, but his music took a turn for the worse, with everything he's done since 1992's truly amazing "Psalm 69" being inconsistent at best.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Album
To the person who said "save your money and buy a Sisters of Mercy cd instead," I just have to shake my head.Come on now, are you serious?I really love Paralysed Age, they have a very dark, passionate sound that's unlike any other band out there.I also love how their music is inspired by the stories of Edgar Allan Poe, evidenced by their songs "Berenice" and "Morella's Sleep."Paralysed Age are both Romantic and Gothic, and I really miss the Romantic side of goth, which, thanks to these talented Germans, continues to live on.

4-0 out of 5 stars Better then expected
I haven't heard With Sympathy, though new wave is not my thing and Al himself even aborted that first album all together. But this was before all those side trax made throughout the 80's before twitch even. Even though I frown on most new wave/new whatever types of music, this actually sounds slightly interesting considering Ally didn't want to make this kind of music in the first place gos to show that any shumuck can mess with a synth in the 80's. the sound is primitive, drum machines and tinny synth sounds make this almost a different approach to the new wave genre. Halloween sounds like pseudo gothic synth pop, with emo lyrics (but not without the trademark Al apathy). The remix is very long but actually has more industro textures then the original and nice drum pads. All Day's from twtich and the 12 singles make an appearance, never was a fan of these though, I actually like the original moreso then twitch. Nature of love is sub-par new romantic-sounding trash, all three tracks included here are very long, boring and repetitive, even compared to the greater Halloween remix which actually is a legit sounding Ministry remix (not the same samples played over with some extra noise like most Ministry remixes but noooo Al isn't into that stuff). Cold life is absent fourtunity, I couldn't stand that funk-wave sound. ugh.
3-0 out of 5 stars Cold Life disowned?
Another great opportunity somewhat squandered, EARLY TRAX is more fruit from the joined forces of Rykodisc and Al Jourgensen, who are thankfully doing their parts to keep the seminal work by the ever-resilient Ministry canonized. And this is cornerstone material here - the band that launched a million imitators by making synth pop aggressive and creating a hipster scene in Chicago unlike any seen before or since. If you like dark (but not quite goth) dance music, cocaine, and the sound of '80s electronic production values, you simply can't pass this by."Halloween" is a bonafide classic of the utmost caliber (even Jourgensen's lyrics, which could be laughable on paper, prove anthemic and memorable in the long run), and "All Day" and "The Nature of Love" will continue to keep your ass shaking.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great for the dedicated fans but not only..
Way back when Ministry started out their sound showed only vague indications that it would develop to their gut-wrenching industrial hymns.

5-0 out of 5 stars The KLF are underrated in the US
They are very much seen just as another late eighties/early nineties club band, along the lines of 2 Unlimited.A latter day example of what kind of band they are seen as would be Basement Jaxx or Fatboy Slim. Innocuous, fun music that critics and serious music fans don't take seriously.
4-0 out of 5 stars Justified and ancient..
This album was sort of an underrated classic of the early 90's. The most noteable tracks are probably the KLF Theme ( I think it's called justified and ancient ) and "Doctor Who and the Tardis" which contains an amusing sample of Gary Glitters "Rock and Roll". It's sort of tounge and cheek, the album owes a lot to the literary influence of Robert Anton Wilson, author of the classic "Illuminatus!" Trilogy ( conspiracy nuts, like myself, will recognize references to various secret societies in the lyrics. Such as the J.A.M.'s and the A.A.A. ). 5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best there is!
I owned this album in high school growing up, and it was my introduction to rock/dance so to speak. They paved the way for groups like Linkin Park & Limp Buscuit. If you're a true fan of Dance, Electronica or Rock, your collection isn't complete without this album!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Industrial Masterpiece
Fear Factory is essentially what you get if Nine Inch Nails, Slayer, and Morbid Angel fused together into one.
4-0 out of 5 stars good but not what i was expecting
considering i was told by a lot of people that this band was thrash metal I decided to pick up this cd for 2 bucks on ebay.this isn't really thrash at all. it's just double bass pedal and death metal type riffs.dont get me wrong i like this cd but its too industrialized for me, so if you like industrial and want to hear industrial death metal here you go.if you were like me and want to haer some thrash look else were. =]
5-0 out of 5 stars Fear Factory's best album
You heard me right folks, "Demanufacture" is Fear Factory's best album ever, and it's also one of the best metal albums of all time. Don't get me wrong, "Soul of a New Machine", "Obsolete", "Digimortal", and "Archetype" are all great albums, but like I said before, this album is their all time best, and it's down right addicting from beginning to end. I've had this album for two years now, and whenever I listen to this, my mind is completely blown away, I just love it. Burton C. Bell's vocals on here are much more different then they were on "Soul of a New Machine", but he's just absolutely awesome on here. His angry screams on here echo Phil Anselmo and Max Cavelera, and his clean singing is just incredible beyond words as shown on tracks such as "Self Bias Resistor" and "Dog Day Sunrise". Dino Cazares's awesome machine-gun-like guitar riffs shoot right through your body like a cannon shot. Chrisian Olde Wolbers's bass lines are hearable and very groovy. Raymond Herrera's sick double bass drumming is just fast and relentless throughout, man this guy is without a doubt one of the best metal drummers ever. The opening title track "Demanufacture" is absolute pure bliss. Whenever I hear the chorus to that song, it immediately gets my blood rushing and my fists pumping. Other great standouts on here such as "Body Hammer", "Replica", and "Flashpoint" have crunchy, heavy grooves, while "New Breed" and "H-K (Hunter-Killer)" are fast, blood rushing, hard hitting, and flat-out intense. Please note that the song ratings on here apply to the original version of this album (without the bonus tracks) that I own.

5-0 out of 5 stars You are slowly dying...
...and this is all you can hear.
5-0 out of 5 stars to each their own...
To simply say "oh this is just noise, no notes, no real structure" as a complaint...just shows how narrow your world is, and "this is bad noise" is more a compliment than a complaint as the members would see, i would bet. I have heard enough to know that this is a fairly easy to digest recording. And don't think this is DaDa or some form of idustrial sound, it simply is not. John has spent years destroying sound to static on American Tapes/Heavy Tapes to make Wolf Eyes an almost pop band by their own standards. This is sound and "music" atleast by track disection, and yes, their are folks that can and do enjoy the sounds made here. It is a sound and a mood, a moment, and just plain chance...and this is what I appreciate. Sound is usually 2 things...the bands that rehash the same crap with a different name, or people who actually test and try themselves to see what new thing they can find. If you don't care for what Wolf Eyes has found here, thats fine but atleast respect the fact that these guys are trying to find a unique moment. Embrace the challenge and maybe you'll come away from it a bigger person?from day light savings... and a fairview. I will continue to enjoy...just be sure to drop that additude bud, rock on.

5-0 out of 5 stars What is Dada?
According to its proponents, Dada was not art -- it was "anti-art". For everything that art stood for, Dada was to represent the opposite. Where art was concerned with aesthetics, Dada ignored aesthetics. If art were to have at least an implicit or latent message, Dada strove to have no meaning -- interpretation of Dada is dependent entirely on the viewer. If art is to appeal to sensibilities, Dada is to offend. It is perhaps then ironic that Dada became an influential movement in modern art. Dada became a commentary on order and the carnage they believed it reaped. Through this rejection of traditional culture and aesthetics they hoped to destroy traditional culture and aesthetics.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worthy Tribute, Wise Purchase
I found out about this CD roughly 10 years ago and it still gets regular play and is a necessary addition to anyone who is a fan of hard rock and/or Black Sabbath. I really enjoyed some of the spins put on some of the songs and the creativity added that enhanced some of the originals. Some of these songs actually sound better than the originals and most of them tend to hit harder. This is how I have them rated in iTunes and on my iPod based on the 5 star system:
5-0 out of 5 stars Sabbath inspired them!
Black Sabbath truly is the greatest metal band of all time. So it is no surprise that all of the rockers on this compliation were motivated by Sabbath to do what they do today. Whether they get in the Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame or not Black Sabbath is really a legend. A HEAVY METAL LEGEND.

4-0 out of 5 stars Above average tribute album to a legendary band
The first "Nativity in Black: A Tribute to Black Sabbath" tribute album is one of the best tribute albums ever to be assembled, and while not all of the versions here are great representations of the songs from the legendary band, it is still an above average tribute album that deserves to be in any Sabbath or older hard rock fan's collection.Hardcore and rap/metal pioneers Biohazard do a solid cover of "After Forever", while White Zombie superbly remakes "Children of the Grave".Megadeth's lightning speed take on "Paranoid" is worth the price of admission alone, while Ugly Kid Joe turns in a surprisingly great rendition of "N.I.B.".Faith No More's live version of "War Pigs" may grate on some people's nerves because of Mike Patton's vocal change up's, while 1000 Homo DJs' "Supernaut" cover is underrated.Sepultura turns in a cover of "Symptom of the Universe" which is lacking, while sludge masters Corrosion of Conformity turn in a solid rendition of "Lord of This World".Ozzy and Therapy?'s "Iron Man" is essentially the exact same as the classic Sabbath track, while other contributions from Type O Negative, Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson & Godspeed, and Bullring Brummies (featuring Geezer Butler, Bill Ward, and Rob Halford) are pretty solid. All in all, "Nativity in Black" is a great tribute to a legendary and influential band, and it's certainly much better than the second NIB tribute album. ... In the wake of Nine Inch Nails' ascent to superstardom, a gaggle of bands usurped at least seven of Trent Reznor's nine inches and crafted catchy electronic metal songs that festered with brooding angst. One of the best of these groups was Gravity Kills, which balanced melody, noise, and grooveability in equal parts. But the band's second disc, Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the first, but solid.
I know, I told you in early 2002 that it was great. But at that time I was also like 14 or 15. In years to come, I've listened to this again in occasion, and I realize that it is not really the wonderful album I though it was. Oh, and now since I'm 18 I've heard so many other albums that things put it in perspective.
    4-0 out of 5 stars Good for a 2nd...
This one wasn't quite as good as their first one, but it still rocks none the less. It's still the same stuff, just mixed up a bit more here and there. I LOVE "falling" and "alive". There's a few other good ones on here too. Oh! and the song "crashing" is deff one of the bands best! Buy this one and rock on!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars hmmmmm.... i guess
Well, if your like me you probably heard their first radio hit song.... (guilty).... and if like me you probably liked it. since then i havent heard from them nor purchased a cd. So i thought id give them a try.... I have to agree they sound very...i mean very similiar to NIN.... nothing wrong with that. But the music gets repetitive, id have to say the best song on this album is the last one.... Belief(to rust). But only because its very deifferent than the rest. If your in a rock out mood, then this cd is the answer, if your more into creativeness, then perhaps you should listen to something else.... all in all its a cd i can listen to, a few times get tired of it, and never play it again until im angry or drunk. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Picture a piston firing on a human face forever...
Regardless of what you think of Fear Factory's digitized, heavily edited groove metal, you've got to respect the band's ability to sustain a concept. "Digimortal," Fear Factory's fourth studio album, is powered by the same bleak, futuristic vision that's characterized every Fear Factory release (imagine "The Matrix" as interpreted by Pantera). Only this time, instead of resisting the archetypal "machine," Fear Factory are becoming one with it. Which, for those of us who've never cared whether the band's best stuff is assembled in post-production, is a refreshing (if not exactly surprising) change of direction. As always, producer Rhys Fulber -- by now as much a Fear Factory member as the players themselves -- maximizes every second of binary code to give "Digimortal" the leanest and meanest crunch imaginable. Fulber even gives the bass -- arguably metal's most useless instrument -- a functional role, making it a cog between guitarist Dino Cazares' and drummer Raymond Herrera's perfectly synced riffs, rhythms and textures. Digital effects color Burton C. Bell's vocals in tracks such as "Byte Block," which is a bonus: Bell's gruff, gurgly voice has always been Fear Factory's weak spot. Maybe that's because its flaws offer the only sign that Fear Factory are human.

4-0 out of 5 stars Enough Digimortal bashing
I'm reading that many are disappointed in Digimortal.Perhaps you should let it grow on you.I remember the first time I heard "Obsolete", I wasn't sure I liked it.After listening to it more, I ended up liking it more than the previous two albums. The funny thing is, I didn't have to "get used" to Digimortal; I was instantly hooked. The song "Digimortal" blew me away.I listened to that song at least five times in a row because I couldn't get enough of it.The melody of the chorus with the combination of the song's heaviness made me listen to this song multiple times per day for weeks. When I finished listening to that song, I would hit back track and listen to it again.I have NEVER reacted that way to any other song that I had just heard.I'll never forget the day.Other songs are excellent as well."Linchpin" is just as good a song. The others should be enjoyed just because of how friggin' heavy they are.The only part of this album I don't like is the heavy mid-section of "Dark Bodies".

5-0 out of 5 stars How is this album bad?
I've learned to never trust reviews anymore. I've read so many "professional" reviews about this CD saying it was their worst CD, that it completely sucks, etc. This CD is a DEFINATE must-have for any fan of Fear Factory. Newcomers may say it's on OK album, but all newcomers should get Obsolete or Demanufacture, before this. Here is a run-down:

5-0 out of 5 stars The best Ministry album
This is their least popular album but easily my favorite. This really isn't an industrial album, its a rock album. But it still definitely sounds like Ministry. Their approach is still the same...repetitive grooves that give a hypnotic feel. But the difference is they combine this approach with a more organic sound via guitar, bass, and drums as opposed to samples. The drums on this album are awesome. Basically this record is just a big ugly slab of heaviness with a very dark and trippy feel. Not for everyone but I love it.

3-0 out of 5 stars This album always gets stolen
For a album that 'supposedly sucks', it always gets stolen from me. Why? 3 reasons I can think of
5-0 out of 5 stars STFU and buy this Album.
This is the first Ministry album i picked up, and it's good, period. There are some bands that make an album with only half the songs being good, this isnt the case. From the begining until the end, after every song my reaction was: "Badass".

5-0 out of 5 stars The Future is Now
First of all, Thank God Nettwerk decided to re-release this awesome CD with some bonus stuff.
5-0 out of 5 stars This is a "staple" for early electronic music fans.
Where to begin, I have about 20 CDs in my collection of which I will NEVER part with, this album ranks in the upper most 5 of that list. I was hooked up to it from the advice of the owner of an independent "record" (back in the day when there were no CDs) store in Dallas (from which the artist also hails). If you like Meat Beat Manifesto's "Storm the Studio", Nitzer Ebb, early Kraftwerk, and The Beastie Boys "Paul's Boutique", you will love this album. ... Read more

    5-0 out of 5 stars Cab's best
Maybe their most listenable collection of songs, this CD waas quite a favourite of mine when it came out. There are some really well produced and played techno songs that have not dated. OK, it is no longer the same experimental stuff as in their beginning but it was still challenging.

5-0 out of 5 stars Paranoid Pop Perfection
This is easily the Cabs best album. Their decision to move away from the free-form industrial electronic experimentation of 'Voice of America' et al is perfectly justified with this recording. While the poppier edge may disarm you at first, this record is brimming with aspects to enjoy, every song conceals a deeper, darker underside. 'Spies in the Wires' is by far the best track (closely followed by Do Right), the way the beat kicks in and infectious chorus (not to mention evocative lyrics)....wow....i'm usually the fan of harder edged stuff, liek neubauten, TG, SPK and the wild electronics of SP, Autechre etc but this is a real gem.Go buy. You won't regret it.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Cabs go pop
Well it still is Cabaret Voltaire because the lyrics are still paranoid but the music is getting lighter in form but that doesn't mean it's crap. Sensoria is probably the song that gets most people into Cabaret Voltaire with the juttery "D-d-d-Do right." But there are other songs on here to make you feel like dancing. Digital Rasta is a beautiful song where Mallinder sings " Selling something like you sell yourself, money in the bank but your under pressure" making it the perfect mate for you when you're a little peed off about your managerRead more

4-0 out of 5 stars pretty decent soundtrack
this soundtrack is one of those soundtracks that stands out just a bit better than the movie. for me, this cd is pretty good with only 5 tracks that are kinda weak. i thought the ministry track "paisely" was great. going into this really deep depressing sound that ministry rarely ever visits. "the one" shows white zombie ultizing a rare keyboard usage that is fantastic. "10 seconds down" while already previously released on sugar ray's debut "lemonade & brownies", it's nice to have it without the tie-in to "danzig needs a hug". "dawn" is just one of those stabbing westward songs you'll either love or hate, personally, i love it myself. it's slow and at times hard and pounding. and then theres the deftones track. a gem that was unjustly left on their b-sides album. if anything, this warrants a buy for that tracks alone. i could on forever singing the praises of the songs that i thought were good that make this a rarity worth buying...but i won't. it's better to get a taste and decide for yourself.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great soundtrack
Proof that director John Carpenter's metal-esque influence on the musical scores to his films is ever prominant; the soundtrack to his 1996 film Escape From L.A. further illustrates this point.White Zombie's "The One" is a ripping track that makes this compilation an absolute must have for White Zombie fans the world over, while Stabbing Westward's "Dawn", Tool's "Sweat", Gravity Kills' "Blame", Clutch's "Escape From the Prison Planet", and the Deftones' "Can't Even Breathe" are all standout tracks.Sugar Ray's "10 Seconds Down" is a must hear just to hear that this band was actually half decent before they succombed to the world of pop radio, while Ministry's "Paisley" finds the band at their sludgey "Filth Pig" era stage.Tori Amos is an odd artist to be featured here to say the least, but her "Professional Widow" cut is a good listen. All in all, the Escape From L.A. soundtrack is definitely worth picking up for metalheads and industrial buffs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Joltin' John Carpenter does it again- only better.
John Carpenter, whose understated scores beautifully underscore the action (or the mood) in his films, has, in conjunction with Shirley Walker, produced some of his finest work to date. There are punched-up reprises of some of the tracks from his earlier score for ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK (and the electronic enhancement works well), but fans will find his "western theme" (in the movie, it's played when Kurt Russell suits up prior to entering L.A.) a welcome addition. The tracks here show a definite progression in terms of the music found "under" his films: there are some vast improvements throughout. Highly recommended. ... Read more
