5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing rock band for our modern age.
I LOVE this album. It rocks hard, yet has this openness to it. Plenty of 3 part harmonies and warm guitars, agreeably heavy beats. There's nothing not to like.
5-0 out of 5 stars This Album is Pure Genious
Quite possibly the most underrated album of all times.
5-0 out of 5 stars i luv glu
i bought this cd way back when i was 15 and now i'm 25 - wow. i just listened to it again the other day for the first time in a while and i still must say, they were true innovators. i always remember thinking that his voice sounded like layne staley at first, but i got used to it and liked it. the sounds that were made on this album via synthesizers and drum machines were unique for its time. and it was one of those i would get trashed and listen to. sounds good with a buzz. good beats w/ crisp & crunchy guitar riffs. the thing about GLU that made them standout from the other techno-metal bands of time was the song-writing. each song feels inspired, has heart and means something. they don't sound like they were just trying to make a party-record or something. they proved their ingenuity with 'life in the so-called space age' and i'm just sad they are no longer around. i hear their solo efforts are decent though and look forward to checking them out. I was fortunate enough to catch their live show a couple times in charlotte, NC which was a cool b/c they played w/ a live drummer along w/the synthesizers and drum machines and of course the guitars were killer - thanks 4 the muzik ... 1-0 out of 5 stars What Happened?
Ok Im going to be honest, this album sucks. It doesent compare to Sperm or Defekt at all. Just to soft and plain sounding.

5-0 out of 5 stars You can't start from where I end...
I'm going to leave this review short but sweet, seeing as there isn't much more to say about OOMPH! that hasn't already been said. One thing I will clear up however is that OOMPH! are NOT an industrial band. They use synths, keyboards and samples, but that does not make them industrial.I prefer to call this, like it or not, nu-metal - or at least what nu-metal should be.Musically, OOMPH! are not too far off from Rammstein. The reason why I give OOMPH! a slight edge over their German brethren is that they have more diversity.I much prefer the melodic vocals of Dero over the baritone chanting of Rammstein's singer. The music is also more accessible than that of Rammstein, in that it often uses English lyrics rather than all-German.I could have done without the occasional cussing (if I want to hear the f*** word again I might as well just pick up a Slipknot CD), but overall the lyrics have a nice calmness to them that fits the melodies. The bass is crunching, the drums are finely tuned, the guitars are actually audible and not just mindless downtuned riffing.Production sounds great and the album artwork is excellent. My favorite songs of Ego include the thrilling title track, the gloomy "Bitter", "Swallow" and "Rette Mich" but all the songs have something special to offer.Just a great album to chill off too, the melodies are all quite elevating and Dero's voice alone would make me want to buy this again.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great stuff!
Oomph is my favorite band. And that is saying something because I actively listen to approx. 200 some bands. Heard of over 1500. So saying that Oomph is my favorite is an extreme compliment to the band. Now to the cd. It really is great ive listend to it about 60 times and still love it. Great mixed english/german lyrics. Great electronics, Dero has a great voice, the music gives me the shivers every damn time. I try to expose the musical talents of European bands to the silly rap listening friends of mine, but when they hear GREAT MUSIC LIKE OOMPH, they dont know what to do because the've been listening to rap/R&B crap for too long.I will have every Oomph CD in two weeks, and I'm excited. Long live Oomph! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Not To Be Dismissed!
Intelligent, pulsing, and thoughtful, the latest effort by A23 (Tom Shear) is simply brilliant!
4-0 out of 5 stars ok for me
This is the not one of the best Assemblage 23 album but still good Since the first time I put it in my CD player, it slowly grew on me, and I listen to on a regular basis. My favorite tracks are Ground and Storm, both musically and lyrically speaking. But the album as a whole is a decent piece of work , and is goodto dance to!

5-0 out of 5 stars The bar has been raised...
It may sound a little fanboy-ish, but this Tom Sheer effort has become the standard by which all other music of this genre should be compared. More than two years after the release of this incredible disc, I still find myself listening to it on a regular basis. This is raw, emotional, powerful, and above all, FUN to listen to. Tom Sheer's career as Assemblage 23 shows a definitive progression... from the growling, angry, disgust found on his first album "Contempt" on up through "Storm", which is far more positive and upbeat. But don't get me wrong... we're not talking about fields of daisies and cute fluffy bunnies; not at all. Still, "Storm" shows a man who has come to terms with himself and his life and knows that he is in a better place now.

this cd is awesome. pretty much my favorite thing to listen to next to Velvet Acid Christ. since i am a gymnast, i will definitely use God Module for my floor routine music! if you love violent lyrics and agressive dancefloor electro, then this is the cd for you!

5-0 out of 5 stars Dark and awesome
From what I can tell, God Module generally puts out some pretty high quality albums and dance-floor industrial.I've heard some of their other stuff on DigitalGunfire, and really like a lot of it.So, after listening to the samples on their websiter, I liked what I heard and decided to buy this album.

5-0 out of 5 stars Slighlty dark, edgy, pleasing, hot....
This album is one of the rare few that has lived up to my expectations. I've been diving head on into psychedelically inclined music for the last few years now; starting off with Infected Mushroom, Astral Projection, Juno Reactor, Hallucinogen, etc...and this album lives up to the clean style I've come to expect from excellent psychedelic music, but has a flavor very much still its own.
5-0 out of 5 stars Top-notch dark electronic
I really took a gamble with this album, I'm a fan of delirium, frontline assembly, synesthesia and most of the other Leeb projects but I had never heard of noise unit.I am very relieved that this is easily one of the best electronic albums I've ever heard.
2-0 out of 5 stars Snooze Unit
Ah the illustrious genre of electronica, where semi-anonymous lifetime knob-twiddlers like Bill Leeb and Chris Peterson can be hailed as groundbreakers, just because they know how to sequence slightly eccentric beats and scare some spooky new noises out of synthesizers. Apparently Noise Unit are noteworthy for a mixture of house, industrial, ambient, trance, jungle, and who knows how many other vaguely differentiated styles, but they all end up sounding the same when they're sent through enough processors, as they are here. Add to that the anemic, soulless, and completely unnecessary attempts at vocals, and the even more semi-anonymous so-called guest stars whose contributions you'd have to be a programmer to even notice, and you have the modern electronica approach of Noise Unit. Granted, there is a somewhat haunting aspect to the Noise Unit sound, with good cases being found in "Illicit Dreams" and "Tighten Up." But this album's only glimmer of near-personality is a pretty good groove in "Liberation," which then is promptly ruined by a pathetic attempt at rapping. Most of the rest of the album features snooze-inducing exercises in spookiness that drift off into a cloudy haze, the most telling examples of this being "Seclusion" and "Paranoid." And this album is docked one additional star thanks to the gratuitous sexploitation of the artwork. [~doomsdayer520~] ... Read more

Editorial Review

KMFDM's previous album, Xtort, was a corrosive industrial metalfest that burned as deeply as most anything by Ministry or Nine Inch Nails. But fans expecting more gut-pounding, head-smashing euphoria are in for a surprise. The band's self-titled successor is light on the metal, heavy on the electronic--which isn't to say KMFDM are hopping on some Chemical Brothers/Prodigy bandwagon. They were futzing around with samplers and keyboards over a decade ago. It's just that diehard metalheads might find Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't Pay Premium Price for old KMFDM cd's!!!!!!!
I bought this cd long before it became "out of print".This album is great, definitely one of the bands best.I can't wait to get my hands on the re-issue, the sound is going to be even better. KMFDM fans know the bands reissuing their back catalogue on Metropolis (you know, those out of print KMFDM releases on Wax Trax that these blood suckers are selling for outrageous prices), the packaging is even better with more pics and extensive liner notes. So, think about it,why would you want to pay premium for an old Wax Trax copy when you can get the reissue which is ten times better and has been digitally remastered?
5-0 out of 5 stars Whatever the price you have to pay....
....it is worth the money.Luckily, I paid 'bout $14 dollars for it.Still worth the money.I now need to invest in getting a CD burner because I know I'm gonna wear out this CD once I get a set of wheels.

and they are: 1) getting closer, 2) lightning man, and 3) fun to be had.
5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite Nitzer Ebb
Maybe it's just the nostalgia factor at play, but I love this album!!! There are so few weak tracks and the tracks all work together really well as a whole. I am of course still in love with "Lightning Man", a full fifteen years after seeing Nitzer Ebb do it live and being blown away by that particular song.
4-0 out of 5 stars An instant classic
If you want down and dirty 'eine zwei drei vier' industrial, then this may not be the best album to buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Like Cutting Your Soulona Blade of Darkness.
Listening to this album is like plunging yourself into a dark abyss and cutting your soul on a blade of darkness. To be human means to be accused, judged, and condemned by this testament to humankind, yet hearing souls will revel and glory in the condemnation, and the sentence is denial and death or acceptance and understanding. 1-0 out of 5 stars Sloppy, repetitive and untalented.
VNV Nation is a terrible example of the music i love. Their compostition is weak, repetitive and slow. The pentamiter of the lyrics does not match with rythym or bass. The vocals are slow sloppy and untalented. Listening to this vocalist is like listening to the jaw bone of a donkey being scraped along a chalk board in a wide hallway.

Here is REVCO back and taking no prisoners.Uncle Al is back with a beefed up line up featuring Gibby Hanes, Rick Nielson, Jello Biafra and Phildo Owen.Part sass, part tribute, part insanity mixed with moonshine likker. If you can't get down to this baby, you are just a nu-metal p*ssy.Viva the COCK!
3-0 out of 5 stars enh
I like this album right now, but i don't konw if it's good enough that i'll be able to say that in a year. There are some songs that I really like, 10 milion ways to die, caliente, but a lot of it was boring. it's worth a listen and definitely see them live if you get the chance, but not an amazing album.

1-0 out of 5 stars horrid not revco in any way! sad.
well, revco was Al, R23 and Luc Van Acker, right, cool stuff. Then it grew eventually became diluted and deservingly was laid to rest after Beers, Steers... an album that was half filler already, around some classic tracks.

Editorial Review

An influential TV series of the '90s has generated a dark, eerie, and vaguely campy set of "inspired-by" songs from a diverse group of musical fans. Pride of place here goes to three tracks: the Foo Fighters' delicious cover of Gary Numan's "Down In The Park," a filthy remake of R.E.M.'s "Star Me Kitten" by literary lion William Burroughs, and a titanic, cross-generational collision between Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper on "Hands of Death (Burn Baby Burn)." Sheryl Crow's "On The Outside" is a toss-off in this company, while Mark Snow's famous X-Files theme loses its creepy edge in both extended and P.M. Dawn-remixed incarnations. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Pure 90s
Not only is this something for X-Files fans, but also for anyone who is a fan of 90s music. Love the Foo Fighters version of "Down In The Park". Also Nick Caves' "Red Right Hand",that song you always heard but wern't sure who sang it. The opening theme song is so powerful sounding you almost forget that this is music for some sci-fi telvision show on Fox; Full length version too. No heavy metal from Filter however. Rob Zombies song is pretty loud and intense. The REM song is just some music with some old guy talking rather than singing, pretty dumb. I know an X-Files sdrk should have some weirdness but the REM song is one to forget. There are two hidden tracks on this cd. The only way to hear them is to rewind past the first track on your cd player.

4-0 out of 5 stars For the most part, a great album
If you're looking for variety, you would do well to purchase "Songs in the Key of X". Being a fan of "The X-Files" would probably help, but it's not neccesarily required. Where else could you find Sheryl Crow, Rob Zombie, and Screamin' Jay Hawkins all in the same place? Not only is this album a worthy soundtrack to one of the great shows of the 1990's, it's also an interesting collection of music that you probably don't get to hear quite often. While there are some big-name musicians like Foo Fighters, REM, and Sheryl Crow (as mentioned above), their contributions to "Songs In the Key of X" are significantly different from their more popular songs. REM's contribution is noteworthy, for it features novelist William S. Burroughs reciting the vocals to their song 'Star Me Kitten' with music done by the band. It's a moment that's as strange as anything Burroughs devised for one of his novels. While this song doesn't have much in common with the show, it's still one of the finer tunes on here.

3-0 out of 5 stars This is the story I heard
I had a buddy who met Alan Jorgensen on the first Revolting Cocks tour, and here is the story he was told. The With Sympathy album was made solely to get Ministry a record deal. The band was already doing the up and coming Chicago industrial sound way back in, what was it 82 or 83 when this album first came out. Alan said that he was forced to do new wave for the first album or no deal. Al also was rumored to break copies of With Sympathy if he ever saw one in someone's record collection. My buddy had heard this and hid his copy when Alan was at his house. My friend said that Alan did look through his records while he was there but since With Sympathy was hidden there was no record breaking episode.
5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Recomended
Although the first ministry album I purchased was Psalm 69, I actually found this my to be my favorite Ministry album.Although I do like the concept of Industrial muisc, too easily it deteriorates into a screed of "LIEK EYME SU ANGRY DAT EYE CUD EET GLAS!!!1111" with no sense of structure whatsoever. Here we have songs with actual lyrcial content and song structurewhich does not rely on an aggressive tone (something which cannot be said with anything after psalm 69).As a special bonus the first track has a line of lyrics that have the words NOT and ANGRY in the same sentence. So what if the synths are dated I prfer the sound of synths like this anyway. On a final note I will not touch anything after psalm 69 with a ten foot pole because it is just formless dreck and more recently obnoxiuosly topical. (I know N.W.O was but that's another story).
5-0 out of 5 stars Their best

Finally a studio album, enough of the remixes and re-releases. I've been waiting a long time for a new studio album from TKK. I've read reviews that say it's a disco album and fans won't like it. I say BULL. If you like the TKK, you will like this disc. Yes it has a disco sound on some songs, but TKK has used that sound before. The music is great and I love it. Is it as good as "13 above the night" or "Sexplosion"?, no, but there is nothing else that sounds even close to this.

2-0 out of 5 stars My second fav band after the Cure, but this can be skipped
I think it can be summed up with this: If you like TKK for albums like Confessions, then you may hate this one. If you like Sexplosion, you may be able to tolerate GB&M but it is < half as good. I have never put a disk in from TKK and not loved it, but this one.............? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars For fans of NeoGoth or Darkwave...This is it.
This album singlehandedly introduced me into a thrilling new genre. I'm very eclectic in my tastes, but I had no idea what I was missing before listening to NeoGoth. Being a NIN fan, I thought it might be worth buying, but MY GOD! It is fantastic! If you like any kind of techno, you may find something new here to appreciate.
1-0 out of 5 stars Synthpop/futurepop dreck
This album is nothing more than a catalogue of all of the synthpop/futurepop dreck that has been masking itself as goth and industrial music since the late 1990's. Having heard these bands played in clubs I can honestly say that I couldn't tell one from another. Why? Because ALL of them sound exactly the same. They have the same exact beats and same exact angst driven lyrics. I can see why some teens would like them, but if you are above the age of 30,like I am,they will most likely annoy you and make you want to bang your head against a wall.
1-0 out of 5 stars this is NOT industrial music
i have been listening to industrial since the early 90's, skinny puppy, thrill kill, REVCO, and i am still heavily into industrial, android lust, i, parasite, ect.I bought this CD to maybe check out some enw industrial bands, man was i suprised at what they are passing off as industril, this is nothing more than the cheesiest, rave till dawn, K-mart clearance bin techno i have ever herd, with vocals on top, this is NOT INDUTSRIAL music, industrial music is dark and noisy and intense, not trance with vocals. If you are looking for some real industrial, email me, i will point you in the right direction, if you are new to industrial DO NOT BUY THIS CD, it is not industrial. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fear Factory's finest
Fear Factory's first two albums were extremely heavy (more death metal than industrial); so 1998's "Obsolete" was the first album that really showed the band evolving. "Obsolete," which is a concept album about machines overcoming mankind, also showcases Fear Factory in their finest form. It's not as heavy as "Soul Of A New Machine" or "Demanufacture," but saying it's "watered down" is a ridiculous statement. This is heavy metal with an industrial edge. Sure, the blowtorch guitars and heavy drumming remain in tact, but a lot more spacious, futuristic sounding keyboards and clean, backing vocals to be heard here, as well. And some of this album, like the mysterious song "Timelessness," is almost pretty, even.
5-0 out of 5 stars An Obsolete Review
taking the title as the leaders of the Industrial Metal Scene with the relese of this beast. A flawless assualt of brutal riffing and pummeling drums set to beautiful electronica arrangements and samples, Is where Obsolete shones above previous FF albums. Burton's wide range of vocals are perfected here, Moving from Audible growls to Raging screams and of course numerous different forms of clean vocals. Dino breaks out-o-the-box here with some far more complex riffs then he's used to, And still keeping it melodicly tharshy through out! Raymond, Keeping it simple,Heavy & Brutal with pummellings to bang your head to for numerous years. Christian, Putting down Bass lines that accent both the Drums and Guitiar well, Bringin' the band together for a mass of mechanical tormentations.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great Listen, But Very Watered Down
As always, I am going to compare this to demanufacture, and say this; Demanufacture is an amazing album, and no album has had ever beat it, and I highly doubt any album will. Obsolete still won't, as good as it is! Unfortunatly, for Obsolete, it is very watered down basically playing the same guitar riffs when it gets heavy, just in a different way and on different frets of the guitar. That's the MAJOR disappointment.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Hits Collection
If you are a fan of HIM you need this. This is a great collection of songs. It truly is the hits. All of my favorite song are on here. There is a differnt version of Buried Alive by Love and it's better then the first. The booklet turns into a poster. One side is the whole band and one is just of Ville.

5-0 out of 5 stars H.I.M. best hit.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cannibal Anthem !
:Wumpscut: has always been a group for me that has been quite hard to get into as I've started off with listening to their Evoke and Wreath Of Barbs CD's, which I was told to not start with and was recommended to start with something more bold like Bunker Gate Seven (a lot of it seemed uninspiring).I never they put out Cannibal Anthem until I was browsing Metropolis Records. This is the way :Wumpscut: should always sound in this one.Songs like Die Liebe and Wir Warten are good solid tunes that would make for screaming singles (Die Liebe is one already I believe).Jesus Antichristus and Auf Der Jagd were some other good solid tunes with chillingly motivating beats and tearing vocals to drive you passed insanity into the realms of type of world war (much like Terrorfakt in a sense).Keep it coming :Wumpscut:

5-0 out of 5 stars All my CD player belong to Wumpscut
This hasn't come out of my player in days.I was loving, "Trinity," by yelworC big time.I still do.But now I'm in Wumpscut territory and loving it.I really think this is the best I've heard Wumpscut, ever. This is a definite must-have for those who like this type of EBM.(Hint:I can't stand VNV Nation or Covenant... at least not yet.)This is the kind of music to which I've decided to "devote" myself in my own production and this album is pure inspiration for me.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Master has returned!

5-0 out of 5 stars Continuation of Switchblade!..
Lovely goth/ darkwave music from Switchblade! Although, their first was probably the best! This one still has as Tina puts it a great groove to it! Just lovely!...

1-0 out of 5 stars SOMEONE TEACH THIS GIRL HOW TO USE HER TALENT
OK. I have to say Switchblade Symphony has potential. That is about it. Other than that, the album is absolutely atrocious. The singer has a beautiful voice -but she also evidently is either really young or inexperienced/immature_THERE IS NO CONTENT WHATSOEVER TO THIS MUSIC> basically, she sings stupid, juvenile lyrics to an underdeveloped melody- but with a beautiful voice. DONT WASTE your money. This is produced at the level of eigth-grade 'goths'. INSECT is the only decent song on the album.
5-0 out of 5 stars Broken dolls and broken records
Very creepy in its own way.I love this album. Some fans of Serpentine Gallery have said Bread and Jam For Frances is disappointing.I disagree, but that's of course subjective. ... Read more
