5-0 out of 5 stars All the songs you remember.. with a twist
Great CD with songs you remember as a kid. I really got it because of the "Tra La La" Song from the Banana Splits, but all the others are great re-makes; Hong Kong Phooey, Scooby Doo, Stop the Pigeon, Fat Albert's Theme, Spiderman.. and others.

1-0 out of 5 stars JUNK
If you're looking for soundtrack recordings, DO NOT GET THIS!! It's nothing but sick, annoying, noisy, GARBAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for the young and the old!
I've had this CD since it's release! LOVED it then, still love it! I think the covers are GREAT! Better than the originals, makes for much more fun reliving the cartoons I grew up on! I had recently purchased a copy for my friends son, who LOVES it, and since has been learning to play guitar! I would like to see more CD's like this quality and caliber of bands to attract the young ones who are our future rockstars! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Matador Comp #2
The second of Matador's compilations features 2 CDs of old material and 1 CD of previously unreleased songs from great artists like Pavement, Cat Power, Chavez, Modest Mouse, Mogwai, Yo La Tengo, Sleater Kinney, Guided by Voices and Boards of Canada. The best two new songs from Disc 3 made it onto subsequent Pavement and Cat Power releases, respectively. All three of the Matador comps are packed with dozens of good songs at a single CD price and strongly recommended for new fans.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great music for really cheap
The tracks on this look like a collage radio play list!!!!! You got THE best in underground rock/Folk/Pop all in One cd. If YOU like good underground (Not that stuff that passes for rock these days) Then buy this.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Everything" really IS nice
I owe a debt to Matador Records' "Everything Is Nice" compilation,. It was through these three discs that I was originally introduced to many of my now-favorite bands, including Solex, Nightmares on Wax, Pizzicato Five, Pavement, Yo La Tengo, and many others.

Editorial Review

This compilation takes the inclusiveness of indie rock's DIY (do-it-yourself) ideology to a logical extreme by getting 24 underground rock-based artists to contribute an unaccompanied vocal. A capella singing is as accessible as music gets--who hasn't, at some point or another, lifted their voice and sung out loud? Some of the contributors to this disc are moderately well known, some quite unknown, and their performances range from impressive executions of technically complex vocal music to artless bellowing. There is a lot to like about the efforts at each extreme, especially when they're surprise discoveries. Who'd have thought that guitarist Elliott Sharp was a passable throat singer? That someone in the Grifters was such a good human beat box? Or that visual artist Nikki McClure could sound so breathlessly sexy on "Blackberry"? I have no idea who the Japonize Elephants are or how they got their name, but they do a great rousing job on the hymn "Daniel." Just one caveat--Richard Buckner and P.W. Long's rendering of "Ain't No Grave Can Hold My Body Down" is so dreadfully misogynistic one hopes they're wrong. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars It's not pretty, but it is pretty cool
If you're a college radio listener, or and indie fan or even just a bizarre music junkie, how can you pass this up?1-0 out of 5 stars Buyer beware!!
Notice the number of used copies available. This is not at all of the quality of the many other acapella albums I've ordered.

4-0 out of 5 stars accompanied by emotion and immediacy
Something happens when voices sing out naked without the structure andexpectations that accompany intrumental"back up" andarrangements. These voices sound sweet and immediate and will remind manyof archival field recordings of blue grass, mountain, and western songs."La Vie en Rose" is how I wish I sounded when I sing a lullaby tochild. This CD is by turns contemplative, rockin', moody...and alwaysinteresting. You're unlikely to have anything quite like this in yourcollection. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good compilation of Bowie songs
This is the best of the Bowie compilations out there. It takes great bands covering a good selection of Bowie songs, unlike other compilations who only include "Let's Dance" and "Cat People". I'm impressed that "Andy Warhol", one of the best Bowie songs, was included, and Tree People do a good version. The Magnetic Fields also do an admirable version of "Heroes". All in all, the best Bowie covers are spread around in artist's solo albums, but if you're looking for a good collection of Bowie covers, this is the one to get..

3-0 out of 5 stars Crash Course Crashes
At first appearance, this seems to be just another in a long, long time of David Bowie tribute albums. And, honestly, that's just what it is. However this time around, we have a collection of northwest indie bands paying tribute to the dame. As of this writing, i've had the album for a couple years now, and while there's nothing wrong with it, i haven't listened to it in ages. There just doesn't seem to be anything exceptional here that you can't find on one of the other dozen Bowie tribute albums. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars UNARECOPILACION COMPLETA

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent sampler by the DGM label

Tribute to who? If you really like Pink Floyd, don't spend your money on this awful album... O xente ta ruim demais !
4-0 out of 5 stars Hard to rate. Some great, weird songs but weird compared to?
This is the first collection of music I didn't know how to describe because I haven't heard music like this before. Is this music good? Well, some songs ("Set Controls For Heart of The Sun") are awesome and capture the trippy, surreal qualities of PINK FLOYD at their finest. Others, well, not so good...4-0 out of 5 stars Tributes aren't about recreation
I'm rambling, but I think you guys are missing the point. This is one of my favourite Cleopatra ribute albums because you don't have to hear Pink Floyd. If you're a Pink Floyd fan and know that no one can do it better, then don't bother. These bands add new life to very tired songs (admit it man!).For the person who thought Floyd was a "rock band" go back and listen to the mid-period releases from Meddle, More, Obscured, Atom Heart etc. that is the period that is covered mostly by this disc anyway. There are loads of soundscapes and electronic elements represented in those original albums. In these (mostly) ambiant covers those aspects are really brought out.The melodies are generally carried, or maybe just a keyboard flourish from the original. All of the songs are certainly reconizable to any Floyd fan (well maybe except the Gessin track which isn't a Floyd song at all). Those that do try to come closer to the originals, or those that venture into the later period of radio staples, don't work as well and are sure to annoy Floyd fans as well as casual listeners."Set the Controls" should floor everyone though. That's a nifty version that beats out the original. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A good alternative....
This album is a good alternative to listening to your Van Halen albums over and over. Most of the covers are totally different to the originals, and done with respect to the band, rather than ridicule....With theexception of Panama, the music for which is awesome, but when the guy sings(if you can call it that) things go down hill. So four stars is thescore, and if Captain Rock could sing, it would be five....

5-0 out of 5 stars I like this cd a lot
Maybe it's actually more of a 4.5 for me.I do like pretty much every song, with Stop Draggin' My Heart Around and Don't Come Around Here No More being my favorites.Yes, they don't sound like Petty's originals. They sound pretty punk, as a previous reviewer noted. No offense to Mr. Petty, but when I listen to a bunch of his songs in a row they kind of all sound the same. This album avoids that, and, in my opinion, sounds great.
1-0 out of 5 stars Tom Should....
I think Tom & Mike should hunt down whoever put this travisty together along with the {cough, cough} artists who contributed to it & rip 'em to shreads for makin' my ears bleed.... I've heard a lot of crap in my day but this is sacrilege....

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice Suprise...
A friend passed on this album to me, knowing that I've long been a John Denver fan.I've enjoyed the fresh interpretations of some of his best music and the variety this adds to my music collection. All but 2 of the songs are enjoyable... "Calypso" is flat and under-sung so I skip that one."Fly Away" is just awful... frightening, dark and sinister, amusing for about 30 seconds but way too long to tolerate.I could do without the incest overtones of "Mathew" but it's still fun.The other songs are fairly well-done.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars a fine tribute to the songs of Fogerty
I'm a huge Fogerty fan, both of his CCR stuff and his solo recordings.I bought this disc, though, because it was recommended at the Damn Lovelys Trouble Creek page, and I'm also a fan of theirs. They're on here with a beautiful, deep-groovin' version of "Hey Tonight" that turns the song on its head - it's a big garage-y wall of sound with cool backwards guitar, Wurlitzer keyboard, and vocals that sound Blondie-ish.It's a real departure from the original CCR version, and from the Damn Lovelys' rootsy sound - sweet sultry singer Ms. Meredith Ochs never puts effects on her vocals, so it's interesting to hear her sound sort of processed - and it's great.
4-0 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BETTER TRIBUTE ALBUMS I HAVE EVER HEARD
I heard about this album when I was buying License To Chill by Jimmy Buffet.I am a CCR fan, but I am not a fanatic.I have their Greatest Hits, but I don't have the individual albums. This album does a fantastic job of re-interpreting some CCR songs.
1-0 out of 5 stars Tribute?
How can an album be a tribute with so many cuts with awful, weak vocals? My first time through, I thought each song got progressively worse.Born on the Bayou is instrumental which works, but the vocal part where they echo "Born on the Bayou" is a hoot. But on my second listen I found a couple of gems, Have you seen the Rain by Frog Holler, I have a soft spot for banjo, and Lookin out My Back Door by John Jorgenson features some mean pluckin, picken and fiddlin.Up Around the Bend is interesting until the guitar blows his amp at the end.The rest ranges from weak to pittyful.I can't reccomend this CD ... This is a really really good cd. Trampoline Records Greatest Hits Vol. 1 is full of talent and that shows easily through the music. All the songs go together nicely yet they are all unique and different from eachother. This is the perfect album to relax to and I highly reccomend it.

Created as an outlet for the great music the "suits" clearly don't think you're ready or discriminating enough for, this CD far surpasses anything you will hear on the radio. The label is clearly a labor of love for founders Pete Yorn, Rami Jaffe and Marc Dauer, all amazing musicians in their own right, together they form a triple threat bound to become major power players in the indie music scene.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars From a DJ and music lover
What a refreshing change of pace from the pop world into the deep.Kirsten Wenlock has an amazing voice and musical sensibility. The power of the music, the honesty of the lyrics and hope that seems to rise out of the darkness of many of the cuts makes this disc one that will stay in my player for years to come. It's real music. I love it. Waiting for the next cd.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quite surprising, an amazingly talented and diverse roster!
This CD is not something that you would typically excpect from the Orange County area. It seems as though the labelgathered all the fringe talent in OC and signed them.Delicate and quite, most of the CD is somewhatbrooding and thoughtful. My favorite is the band peoplemover, with thierintense, radiohead-like sound. The surprise on the CD is the band LadyMayhem, with thier off-the wall romanticsim.Deep Mosey and trespasserswilliam deliver exceptional and emotional peices in the same vien as theLilith Fair artists.Highly reccomended to those looking for some newtalent. Expect this roster to move far beyond the local scene. ... Read more
