5-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable recording with memorable tracks.
This album gets a fair share of attention because it's the live recording of the final TG performance. It has some great tracks on it, and being recorded by monte Cazazza gives it a nice novelty feel.Something Came Over Me is my favorite track on this, and this alone makes the album worth buying.

4-0 out of 5 stars Going a bit potty
Dark, fierce , paranoid and extremely scary. If this doesn't sound like the album for you then continue elsewhere . If it is however you are in luck. This was to be the final concert that Throbbing Gristle would play under the moniker Throbbing Gristle before disbanding into Psychic TV, Coil and other such projects.3-0 out of 5 stars "Thee Mission" finishes up
This is the final 'official' release by Throbbing Gristle, originally only included as part of a 5-LP boxed set released in the early 80s. Later, this 'limited' release saw reissue as a single LP. At this point in TG's work, the fun was all over except for the last noise as required by contract, andthat's pretty much what's going on here. Recorded in the audience at theirfinal concert in San Francisco, the audio quality of this album is ratherdodgy, as is some of the material. However, there are moments of wildbrilliance, notably 'Spirits Flying' and the closer, 'Discipline'. But thisisn't even up to the par of some of their other 'bootleg' concertrecordings. One for completists. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars THE classic Punk Collection
When I first heard this album back in 77 as an impressionable 15 year old ABBA fan, I ripped up my clothes, tore down my glam posters and stuck a safety pin through my nose.
2-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best?? Hardly...
This is indeed one of the WORST live Heartbreakers performances documented. This album is basically the full live soundtrack to the 1984 reunion concert movie, "Dead or Alive." While it sucks just as equally in the movie, at least you get a visual idea of a Heartbreakers show with the film (Not a good one, but an exciting "reunion" one nonetheless). If you want these songs, I would recommend the double disc "Street Trash," because at least with that, you get a disc of early Dolls demos to help cleanse the pallette.
5-0 out of 5 stars This is the Resurrection...
With the vast number of Johnny Thunders post-mortem releases, it's hard to know which are any good.Having picked up my fair share of them already, I can honestly say that "Live At The Lyceum" is one of the best 'live' Heartbreakers albums on the market.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Bevis Frond is original one of a kind music.
Great album by founder and lead guitarist Nick Salomon, bass guitarist Ade Shaw of Hawkwind fame, and drummer Andy Ward formaly of Camel.I had the chance to see this tour in a small venue in Portland, Oregon.I had neverheard of Bevis Frond, but Andy Ward is from my favorite band Camel and Ihad to see him play. The music was awesome, a mixture of psychodelic, feedback, blues, and folk, with some english humour thrown in and lots ofheart.Nick is a master songwriter and introduces many of the songs onthis CD.This gives the listener a sense of knowing a lot about Nick andwhere he is coming from. 5-0 out of 5 stars The Bevis Frond at the Great American Music Hall
It is truly a wonder how so much talent can beoften overlooked by so many. This man proves thatthere are geniuses all around us everyday. Buy it and be amazed.

5-0 out of 5 stars What you hear live is what you get on CD
The Bevis Frond finally scraped their live sound onto a full CD after many years and many albums that psychedelic music fans cherish. Their sound on the live CD is the same as their sound on the stage. And I think that's thebest compliment anyone can give a live record. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Blew my mind
First off allow me to say this is by far the greatest most wonderful album to ever be in existance!!!!The blistering guitar solos the amazing vocals of non other than the vibrant.....and still relevant Whoopi Goldberg!.....You've seen her in classics such as "jumping jack flash",and ghost where she is at her comedic best.......Her singing is pretty damn good too, maybe even better than her comedy......She is a cross between snoop doggy dogg and Johnny Rotten......Simply put AMAZING!Buy this now!I love sweet gerkins! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Live Album
This is easily in my top 5 list of great live albums. It serves as a chronological counterpoint to "Donut Comes Alive" as this has mainly later material on it.You can't really compare their first album with this one-they are both incredibly strong live performance albums. If you want to survey their music, buy this one and "Donut Comes Alive" first and foremost. Then scoop up all the rest, as others have mentioned, because if you grok this junk, you'll definitely need some more.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not a bad place to start
Alice Donut were one of the finest bands of the late 80's/early 90's, and if you ever saw them live you would have been a fan for life.Lyrics that required some thought to write, excellent two guitar interplay and the occasional trombone combine for a lovely green meat stew of punk rock (if you must pigeonhole them).Every song on this live album is one of their best, performed during a tight live CBGB show complete with hilarious between song banter. If you buy this and "get it", then immediately purchase the rest of their catalog before it gets really hard to find.If you buy this and don't "get it", stick to things like Blink 182 until you have your first child and start amassing Sting and Michael Bolton records.Good luck.

This was a real let-down.God help the unknowing person who makes this their first RM purchase.Money would be better spent on a studio album or a live show.

5-0 out of 5 stars For true fans
Rainer Maria is the best band currently in existence on this planet.
3-0 out of 5 stars I love the band/ hate this product spewed at me
It does not capture how the band can be powerful live. The DVD is something of a joke at my house. While the out of tune singing/screaming is dismissable live and fixed through the magic of production on your CD, its a little annoying while sitting on your couch,..sober...with your roomates laughing at you for liking rainer maria in the first place.

This isn't pigface's best live album, that is "Truth Will Out" but this does give a sence of what pigface live is all about. I have seen them twice live and they are by far one of the best live bands ever. This offers a great glimpse into the world of pigface but you owe it to yourself to see them live.

These guys were pretty ingenious in their day. This is one of their best offerings, but their albums are all unique and strange enough to be the best on any given Tuesday.
5-0 out of 5 stars all time masterpiece
I have had a vinyl copy of this album from when it first came out, played the living dead out of it.Ive been searching for it on CD for yrs now and finally found it.
4-0 out of 5 stars Donut Lives
Alice Donut was one of the core bands of Alternative Tentacles back in the late '80s and early '90s. Their first album catches them at their rawest, but also their most fun. "Donut Comes Alive" brings across the presence of a live Donut performance - pure, wild, New Jersey punk, maximum rock n' roll fun - without being an actual "live" album. The album is so full of great songs that pointing out any in particular to look at would be a waste of time - pick anything and you won't go wrong. It's 100% pure punk fun.Read more

As has been said this is a collection of their more accessible period. There's some stuff here that I don't have which made this a necessary purchase.
4-0 out of 5 stars Stunning collection of most commercial CV tracks
A collection of Cabaret Voltaire's 'live' recordings at the BBC from 1984-1986.5-0 out of 5 stars Cabaret Voltaire Unplugged
This collection of recordings are a snapshot of Cabaret Voltaire during the slightly more accessible period of the mid eighties (84-86). Having signed a recording contract with Some Bizzare/Virgin Records, after themore experimental years with Rough Trade, saw the material become morevocal based and dance oriented. The recordings are unique in so much asthey were made in the BBCs studios with in-house producers and engineers, rather than the usual self-produced material out of Western Works studios.Almost Cabaret Voltaire unplugged, with a minimum of overdubs or studiotrickery. Augmented by Mark Tattersal on drums and percussion. Those whoenjoyed the digital funk of "Microphonies" and the dubelectronics of "Code" will not be disappointed.Read more

I saw this tour too. I love this avant garde stuff. The thing I especially love about Pigface is that when these guys leave their respected acts to get together and do this there seems to be some sort of hypnotic synergy. Editorial Review

The women ofVärttinä can sing likeFinnish angels, howl like banshees, and growl like devils on the prowl, and theydo it all on this live album, recorded before an adoring audience in theirhomeland. They've developed into a marvelously tight unit, able to move from themultipart, unaccompanied vocals of "Käppee" to the out-and-out groove of"Laulutyttö" without missing a beat. Led by violinist Kari Reiman, the band isspare, framing and emphasizing the vocals that have always been Värttinä's focalpoint. And the way the four singers work together--answering each other, playingoff each other, coming together, and moving apart--is a joy to hear. There's aplayfulness to their approach that's irresistible, and this live performancedisplays a very fierce energy and presence in the way they attack the songsthat's missing from their studio work. Captured on a great night, they simplyrock--and bring the house down.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A Decent First Live Album
I agree with others that this is not the greatest of live albums.Part of the problem is the four songs from Ilmatar, their most recent album at that time (2000).It may be their most powerful album to date, but its dark, atmospheric qualitiesdo not transfer well to the stage, except for the volcanic "Aijo".It is also dependent on subtle and well tuned vocals, which do not seem to have been a high priority. Not helping either is a mix which places the instrumentals too far in the background, and makes the vocals shrill on too many occasions.
3-0 out of 5 stars Some bands are better live. Some aren't.
Most of this album is the revisioned folk I know and love from Varttina; those parts of the album are excellent songs that, unfortunately, just don't live up to their potential in these live versions.
4-0 out of 5 stars girls from the big forest
Vrttin first became popular in our country in the 80s as part of the new folk movement and quickly established themselves as spokesgirls for roots music. this album captures their in their prime. Outstanding tracks are "Kyl vuotti uutta kuuta" (The village was waitin for the new moon") and "Ukko lumi" (Snow man). These girls had a way of putting you under their spell - maybe it was the Eastern-Karelian mysticism thats so hard to resist for a Finnish audience. As a time piece this album is essential - a reminder to us Finns that Vrttin could really touch our hearts and make us cry (and a moment later laugh through the tears). ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The Cramps-'Rockin'&Reelin' In Auckland,NZ'(Vengeance)
SMOKING!!I've been wanting to get a copy of 'Rockin'...' for a few months now.Was recorded at the Galaxy in Aukland,New Zealand on Aug.30,1986.Notice the recording has some fuzz and slight distortion intact, but maybe the producer of the disc meant for it to be that way.Really doesn't deter from the quality of the CD,at least I didn't think so.A lot of this live set draws from the band's 'Date With Elvis' album.Lux,Ivy&crew rip through a set of classic rambunctious psychobilly as ONLY they can.So many upbeat tracks to mention here, like "Hot Pearl Snatch","Sunglasses After Dark",an Elvis cover of "Heartbreak Hotel","Do The Clam" and "Can Your Pussy Do The Dog".The three bonus cuts tagged on are okay.Better than their 'Smell Of Female' CD(see my review of that disc).A must-have for any true Cramps fan.

4-0 out of 5 stars it helps if you've seen them live
OK, the sound quality on this isn't the best, but it ain't half bad either. Not quite as good as Smell of Female. The psychotic CRAMPS energy is definitely there, manifested by massive chunks of guitar spew and big drum beats and Lux's maniacally musical vocals.Having seen them live I can picture what was happening on stage when this was recorded, and it must have been a blast of a show.Definitely recommended for Cramps fans.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not that lively a live album:(
When I started buying the remastered recordings made by the Cramps, my collection had included this live album. I thought it was good at first because it introduced me to some of the songs from "A Date with Elvis" and "Songs the Lord Taught Us," but after a while I realized as a live album it lacked something. Maybe it was low on excitement or it was just plain cheesy. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Bueatifully disturbing
I got the original double 10" box set when it came out on recommendation of a friend who told me he found it so spooky he wouldn't listen to it alone. While that might be an extreme reaction this is still not the sort of thing you would put on when you have people around for dinner, unless you intend to combine some kind of performance art with your serving.
3-0 out of 5 stars Almost every band has a stinker!
This is V.P.'s worst. Thankfully it only has seven true album tracks. This is, in my opinion, a poorly realized experimental noise album and a bit too self-indulgent for other listeners to enjoy. The rest of their material is top-notch but this poor example of V.P. is a sad waste of $20. The album sucks but the live tracks are decent. Get "If I Die" instead. 4-0 out of 5 stars Better than what I thought...
Are you kidding me? This stuff is beautiful.Nothing like I thought it would sound like...If anyone has heard Jeff Mangum from NMH do his live stuff, this live recording from Phil Evrum and The Microphones is along those lines ( however the crowd seems a bit removed). Anyone who appreciates beautiful, personal, haunting music should like this. A lot of the other Microphones albums seemed like experiments...variations on the same theme, all leading up to the opus, Glow Pt. 2 and to some extent the more metaphysical Mt. Eerie. This live recording is a deviation from that theme. These feel like 'straight-up' songs. get it, borrow it, download it, whatever...just listen.

1-0 out of 5 stars 2. Please enter a title for your review:
So, I loved Mt. Eerie, I thought it was Phil's best work ever, I was excited to see where he would go from there. And, granted, a live album doesn't necessarily represent his vision for future studio works, but I still found this disheartening. Arrogant, self-indulgent, boring, preachy. Those are some adjectives, this album brings them to my mind.
2-0 out of 5 stars did not capture what i saw
i wanted a cd that had steel drums on it like when i saw phil perform in the bay area. sadly i got a bunch of songs that aren't that great at all. Theguy sings off key in many instances and also has a tendancy to have songs with horrible endings (songs feel incomplete).
