1-0 out of 5 stars wtf...
this band really effing sucks live... they had this huge, metal skull with batwings that FLAPPED.. and that alone made me watch to punch myself in the face for being there.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Music
I really don't care if it's metal or not because this is good music. Avenged Sevenfold has lots of talent and that's more than I can say for most bands today. The guitarist can really play and the cd is filled with solos, which is something rare these days. The singer can really scream and sing, and he's not some high-pitched guy with tight pants like a lot of singers. The drummer is really talented and keep in mind that it's not an easy thing to play double bass. Anyway, regardless of what genre they fit into and even if they did sell out with the more listener-friendly City Of Evil (and got a lot of fans who can't stand all the screaming in this cd), they are still a very good band and I think they are a lot more talented than the trash that owns the radio today.
1-0 out of 5 stars Hey you tweens, dont be afraid that we are metal
This band is so corny, they call themselves metal, but why all the goofy names, dumb fashion sense and eyeliner that makes them look like a Malaysian street walker. Well, some of the songs sound good, they actually have a decent group, but they really lack any skill on the singer department. Back in Ozzfest, AV7 really got a big lukewarm feeling with the crowd, which many times were booed or people just skipped this band alltogether and try to salvage themselves with a Pantera cover of Walk. Well, maybe they are better suited for young girls because really, they dont have a hard edge to them, even if they went around going homicidal on us, they still would look weak. Every song on this album is just forgetful, just to much screamo junk, although he cant scream anymore. It is just better off to let them sink away at loserville with the rest of the posrecores. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars An Amazing Slice
I can't stop listening to this. I love HORSE to death and this hilarious little EP is an excellent way to tide me over until their next full album next year. When the news of its inception was posted on their website via a Yahoo news story I wasn't sure if they were just yanking our chains.... good thing they weren't!

The opening track, "Teeth Like God's Shoeshine," explodes out of your speakers with sharp, see-sawing guitars and shouted vocals, an irresistible melange of angular rhythms and mighty, powerful dynamics. The rest of the songs are similarly pulled along by some unseen force, driven by an energy found in classic post-punk bands like Thinking Fellers Union Local 282 or Drunken Boat. Some reviewers have referenced the Pixies, and while that's not off the mark, this is more like the Pixies undergoing dental work--without anesthesia.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Want to kill the radio?
Start here. If Float On was your only exposure to Modest Mouse, you don't know what you're missing. Discord never sounded so wonderfully cool. This is a sonic boom to your eardrums as well as your brain. "My brains the burger/My hearts the charcoal."

5-0 out of 5 stars Yes it is an acquired taste, and it isn't for everyone..
..But I love it! It has its weak moments.... Some of the songs can drag on for a long time, and sometimes Isaac's voice isn't up to scratch, but an album doesn't have to perfect to be enjoyed; if you want perfect, I would recommend Red Hot Chili Peppers or something, cause their production is more or less perfect. I, on the other hand, enjoy this album because it ISN'T perfect, because it has it's flaws! One thing I should say about this album is that the tracks skip between such a wide variety of music; it isn't obvious genres but MM seem to be able to gather many different styles together to create sometimes truly original sounds.

Editorial Review

With the massive success of the single "Light My Fire" and their initial two albums, L.A.'s the Doors quickly built a sizable reputation for edgy, often over-the-top musical drama. Perhaps wary of stereotyping, or simply worn out from their grueling early success, the band took a decided left turn into softer sounds here, from the pop-drenched "Hello, I Love You" to the flamenco guitar wash of "Spanish Caravan." Even gentle ballads (by the band's standards, anyway) were a part of the Doors' new sensibility, as witnessed by "Love Street" and "Summer's Almost Gone." But lest one think the band had gone a little too soft, the antiwar diatribe "The Unknown Soldier," the edgy "Five to One," and the deliciously strange "Not to Touch the Earth" were there to remind listeners that even if the band had mellowed a bit, they were still a long way from Jay and the Americans. 4-0 out of 5 stars the shaman lives
Since my youth I have had an ear for roots music, whether I was conscious of that fact or not. The original of that interest first centered on the blues, then early rock and roll and later, with the folk revival of the early 1960's, folk music. I have often wondered about the source of this interest. I am, and have always been a city boy, and an Eastern city boy at that. Nevertheless, over time I have come to appreciate many more forms of roots music than in my youth. The subject of the following review is an example.
2-0 out of 5 stars It's difficult to know
what to make of the Doors, as they have to be one of the most inconsistent bands of the late '60s, early '70s. They started off so promisingly with 'The Doors' release in 1967, and then 2 years later came up with this dubious effort.
1-0 out of 5 stars The wost album bya major band
I was Doors fan in the 1980s. I liked their debut, Strange Days, LA Woman, Morrison Hotel etc. But when I brought this album home (on vinyl no less) and played it, I was speechless. It was terrible.Gone was the old slightly menacing Doors and here was the middle of the road lounge act Doors. The change from darkand mysterious to sugar coated twee was shocking. The electric organ now sounded horrible, they were already rehashing Break On Through and they seemingly had forgotten how to get their instruments in harmony with each other. And they totally ripped off The Kinks with Hello I Love You. I initially thought that maybe I was just not in a receptive mood for the music so I gave it a rest and came back to it a few days later. It still sounded dreadful. I've listened to this album a fair amount in the intervening20 years and I *still* think it's one of the worst albums ever made.

Despite all the nay-sayers, this was and is a truly great album. It is by far the best of the Smashing Pumpkins albums and Shame is the most lush, beautiful and profound song I have ever heard. It will transport you to another universe!

This is my favorite album by the smashing pumpkins and i think i have 5 of them. (Mellon Collie is totally over rated) Adore however is Dark, Brooding, Beautiful and emotional. It is my second favorite record ever, just behind blood sugar sex magik by the red hot chili peppers.

Most bands that come from Nashville wear cowboy hats write songs about punching their horses. No such problems with the Pink Spiders, who at an early age sound like they traded in their Oak Ridge Boys CDs for the complete back catalog of New York's mid-'90s garage rock revivalists, D-Generation. 5-0 out of 5 stars My New Obsession
I love this CD. It's soo amazing. I bought it the day it came out and listened to it a lot and then I bought a couple more CDs a couple weeks later, but I just kept coming back to this one. I can't even describe it's amazing-ness. It's like a combination of some retro influenced rock with modern touches. I also read an article on them in AP and they were so fabulously cocky (in a good way of course!) that you can't help but love them. I love every single song on the album! I'd do a rundown of the songs and rate them, but they'd all just be 10/10, so what's the point? I will tell you that my favorites are:
5-0 out of 5 stars Ridiculously catchy
This album is by far the most infectious record I've come across in quite a long time. After the first listen, I only wanted to hear it again.I was excited to hear new versions of some older songs ("Soft Smoke," "Modern Swinger," "Hollywood Fix," and "Little Razorblade"), and I was even more excited to hear the new songs. It's hard to pick one favorite song on the album, but if I had to pick one, I would probably pick "Still Three Shy."
5-0 out of 5 stars TPS are awesome!
Being a big fan of The Pink Spiders for a couple of years now I was super excited to pick up their new release. And I love it!Although a couple of my favorites ("Modern Swinger" and "Little Razorblade") were on the album "Hot Pink", I still dig the new material. For a little personal touch...I was one of the first people to hear "Little Razorblade" played live so I guess it's got a special place in my heart.:)Anywho, I totally recommend this album to anyone who is a fan of fun music that you can dance like a fool to.And definately to any TPS fan who doesn't own the album yet.The Pink Spiders aren't out to save the world...they are just out to have some fun and you can certainly tell that they do!

The next-to-last Doors album, recorded prior to Jim Morrison's still mystery-shrouded death in a Parisian bathtub, eschewed much of the band's previous penchant for baroque musical, poetic, and philosophical pretensions (this was, after all, the back-to-roots era of the Beatles' Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Doors Keep Rocking
I really like this album probly as about the third best behind The Doors and LA Woman.
5-0 out of 5 stars Doors bounce back with their most accessible album.
Morrison Hotel strikes the perfect balance between a straight-ahead blues record and The Doors' signature, psychedelic sound.Following the underrated but spotty Soft Parade, Hotel is refreshingly focused. It's also probably the least "heavy" album that they made in terms of lyrics and musical pretension. They actually sound like they are having a blast on this album. Also, the changes within each song flow smoothly, as opposed to the abrupt shifts in style that plagued many of the tracks on Soft Parade.Musically, Robbie Krieger takes over the reigns from Ray Manzarek as the lead instrumentalist, and despite him being the less talented musician, the change suits the band at this point in their career.Ray is pretty much done with his mind-bending experimentation by now, anyway, and settled into more of a honky-tonk piano approach.
5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Doors best albums
The first album by the Doors was their best album.Morrison Hotel could be their second best.Buy it and enjoy! ... Read more

A hit single can be a bit of a mixed blessing for new bands, especially if said song gets you firmly lumped into the "novelty band" category. Such was the case with Weezer, whose runaway hit "Buddy Holly" touched a global nerve upon its release, then got on everyone's nerves after months of radio saturation. However, it did ensure that they sold millions of copies of their self-titled debut. Which is why it's so strange that their second album, Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My Fav
I know that this album did not recieve good reviews from music critics, but it is by far my most favorit album, my next fav is the blue album.I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

5-0 out of 5 stars No snazzy title for me
This is a great CD! First of all when I bought the cassette (yes I said cassette) it must have gotten lost or something because i didn't listen to it or even remember owning it. Anyway when I came across it again about 4 years ago it would often stay in the cassette deck (yes I said cassette deck) for days. Usually when a CD is done (yes I own a CD player now) I eject it and don;t listen to it a second time in a row because I just finished it. Pinkerton (along a select other few like Willie nelson's reggae album "Countryman") can play over and over because it goes by so quick because I'm having so much fun singing and rockin' out. I'm not a huge weezer fan and am not sure I'd even call myself a fan. However I do own 4 out of the 5 albums. Pinkerton is my favorite and have barely listened to the Green album and Maladroit more than 2 times and don't really even know what the singles are unless I read all the reviews (which is what I was doing for Pinkerton when i decided to write this). Anyway I'm a DJ with VERY diverse tastes (just so you know where I'm coming from).

4-0 out of 5 stars The Final Battle
This is a fascinating album in that it is a picture of that last moment before true greatness breaks... The change that happened shortly after this album release to usher in the greatness was - Brian Eno left the band -and both parties got better in the doing.
1-0 out of 5 stars Hmm
I just listened to "The Bogus Man" twice. What a piece of garbage -- and nearly 10 minutes long. If this is any indication of the rest of the album, then stay away.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pain For Your Pleasure
Highly influential, but in some ways like Roxy Music's debut, now dated, there are breadths of greatness all over this unique, strange, and oft times disturbing record album. FOR YOUR PLEASURE may have had a great influence over popular culture, but I can't claim that that influence is necessarily good. This record is a hard look, always Pop tinged, musical and challenging, but not often pretty. This record was perhaps more for the pleasure of ROXY's principles than for their listeners, in a strictly tortured or cathartic sense, but there is no doubt this album moves their music forward from ROXY MUSIC's brilliant, yet terminally underrated, eponymous debut ROXY MUSIC. The halls of a music school opener on the third track "Strictly Confidential" clues the listener that ROXY MUSIC's secret is love of the music.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible
Like all his other works, David Bowies Station to station album is sensational. From Station to station, a masterpiece about the thin white duke. All the way to Wild is the wind, a perfectly executed ballad. Station to station is not only an incredible imprint of theman's soul but of Earl Slick's. To this day every time I hear "Stay" I feel something incredible.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Return Of The Thin White Duke
David Bowie may have been all a clutter in the mid 70's but as is the case with 'Station To Station' some brilliant music came out of it.This music is special becauses it's funky, rocking and dramatic all at the same time and flows end to end with six extremely well written tunes. The title tune really does have the feeling of an epic-part is very dramatic 'kraut rock' with spiky guitars and part is very R&B/dance oriented."Golden Years" of course goes more in that direction-a very clinical funk tune that was deservadly a huge hit for Bowie."Word On A Wing" and "Wild Is The Wind" are both big dramatic ballads but with far more thought put into the writing then any of the album cuts on 'Young Americans'."TV-15" is a great rocker off of the album-well more of a pop rocker and "Stay" takes another great turn on a funkier side of town but this time with a tad of the Philly taste of yore.Big difference is that on 'Station To Station' there is a slight lack of warmth. But even though Bowiewas working his way through relationship, drug and management problems his music certainly wasn't suffering the worse for it.This is one of David Bowie's best albums and one more then worth investigating.

2-0 out of 5 stars Two GREAT songs, four lame ones
I can't believe the 5 star reviews this album gets.(Well, it probably deserves it more than Yoko Ono and Syd Barrett's albums, which also get mostly 5 stars.)"Golden Years" is an excellent track, one of Bowie's best (wa-wa-wa)..The title track is pretty catchy too.But the rest of it is just depressing, dull songs with little of the originality that marked his Hunky Dory/ Ziggy / Aladdin Sane era.He just ran out of ideas I guess.I can believe he doesn't remember making this album - he sounds detached and bored with it all.

I have been a fan of CUTE since October of last year and I've waited in anticipation for this album for months. It didn't disappoint. The only song on this album that I have a complaint about is 'There's a Class for This'. I LOVED the demo of this song. The CD version, however...not so much. The addition of William Beckett was an improvement, but the polished quality of it totally ruins the feel of the song.

5-0 out of 5 stars Stellar Kart is STELLAR
I love Stellar Kart so much!! They sound like Relient K and Hawk Nelson mixed and i love both of those bands.

2-0 out of 5 stars Let Down From "All Gas, No Brake"
First of all, nobody can argue that Stellar kart is defining boundaries in music. But that's not what they set out to do. This guys are pop punk, and with this album, much more on the side of pop. The effect on his voice (it's definitely not raw) gets old fast, and adds to the lack of distinguishable traits that would make their songs unique. Most of the second half blends into a one big piece of pop for me. But I do like Stellar Kart, I really enjoyed their first album, it was much less produced and much better, in my opinion. So from a fan that enjoys MxPx, Relient k, Hawk Nelson debut etc, I would not recommend this album. The first is much better, and it is money worth spending. And I definitely do not agree with the below reviews statement that it beats MxPx And Relient K's latest album. And the blink 182 reference doesn't make sense with me.

Elvis Costello kicked off his debut album with a formal device that would also serve his next two long-players well: the first thing you hear is his voice. at the time that this album came out i had just lost my little boy, my husband had left me for a woman 24 years my junior, & i had a serious rash all up & down my left side. i was DEPRESSED. then i heard this music & suddenly i wanted to wear lipstick again. i wanted to wear lipstick & i wanted to dance. what a great album. and to this day in 2006 it still is! the best elvis costello album known to man (and that's saying something).

The angry young man hit a grand slam with this debut album. EC ain't much of a guitarist, but hey when you can capture what an entire generation is thinking within your lyrics...well, they call that genius! Back to back, the tunes here are all winners. Alison is a particular favorite of mine. This album is the beginning of a remarkable body of work that is still evolving.

5-0 out of 5 stars SHOOT TO THRILL
Arguably their greatest album ever. It's has so many different musical styles it's unbelieveble. Many consider Check Your Head a better effort but this is as good as they ever got. This album gets my personal vote for best album of 1994.

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the best records
you have great jazz work, lyrical work, and good hardcore tracks what else could you want?If your new to this then pick this up.

5-0 out of 5 stars "What do we know about partying or anything else??!"
I know what you're thinking. "Eggplant giving a hip-hop album not only higher than one star, but FIVE?!?" People, people. This is not just a hip-hop album. "Ill Communication" offers not only GOOD hip-hop, but funk, punk, rock, jazz, fusion, et cetera, in one fresh-sounding album that's always good to listen to. This just might be my favorite Beastie Boys album (and I have all but "To The Five Boroughs").

5-0 out of 5 stars All-time great album, inessential bonus tracks
I don't know what more I can add to the Paris 1919 discussion. It's arguably the best work by arguably the most unfairly obscure popular music genius of his time.If you don't already own it, stop reading and buy it! 5-0 out of 5 stars Make that twelve!
There is an unlisted 21st track-- an instrumental version of 'Macbeth' featuring some fine slide guitar from Lowel George!

5-0 out of 5 stars OMG....12 more parts of an absolute classic
I couldn't be more excited than if George Martin announced that more previously unknown parts of "Sgt. Pepper" had been found!

Editorial Review

There are myriad details that illustrate why Wire's 1977 debut is bulletproof--or at least wildly compelling. There's the count of tracks--21 to be exact--the snare-cracked pulsing roll of "Reuters," which sports one of punk's greatest first lines: "Our own correspondent is sorry to tell of an uneasy time, that all is not well." There's the six songs that last under a minute (and at least that many more that last under a minute and a half), all of them urgently poised on Colin Newman's deadpan urgency--a laconic riposte to the shouting that in '77 was already central to punk. There's album closer "12XU," which Minor Threat would make anthemic in their short hardcore-forging career. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars a seminal band for a reason, and it all started with this album
Really, what more can I say about Wire's Pink Flag that hasn't already been said? The album is so good, so burned in the retina of my brain (even though I still cannot for the life of us unscramble Graham Lewis' lyrics), so nearly perfect that it's sort of hard to write about. In a perfect world, whatever nonsense I may have to say about the record would be moot, as you should already own this record (along with Chairs Missing and 154, Wire's second and third albums respectively). But for those of you who may be enraptured by the recent flurry of post-punk revivalists who continue to make quite a stir, let the reissue campaign of the first three records introduce you to the band that Interpol, Maximo Park, Franz Ferdinand, and Bloc Party only wish they could be.
