5-0 out of 5 stars true sounds of liberty
This album is really great. The boys really sound good and some great vocals by Jack Grisham....get this cd while you can sounds as good as anything thats came out in years. clean crisp sound to boot.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best live album ever!
This is, by far, the best live album ever recorded. TSOL, in my opinion, are the best of all the old school punk bands. There is not a bad song on this record. From beginning to end it is simply amazing. Unlike other live recordings, you can still feel the energy you get while being at a punk show. Some of the best tracks are Superficial Love, I'm Tired, Thoughts Of Yesterday, and Funeral March. I love this cd, buy it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Old school. you could learn alot.
T.s.o.l was a great band to go see live and thisalbum proves it. When your in a bad mood or feeling a bit angry put on "Superficial Love", I guarantee it will pick you up. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Incendiary live performance
Recorded live in December of last year as a benefit for a cause undefined (at least on my promo copy), Earth Crisis rip through a set of their brashest material. To be honest, I usually approach metal-cum-hardcore with a sense of impatience, as I place a high premium on the sort of variety that normally eludes these types of bands, but Earth Crisis rise above their genre limitations, only faltering during a grindcore cover of Cream's "Sunshine Of Your Love" (and then only because Fudge Tunnel beat them to it). But despite my favorable impression of this particular album, I still wish bands of this style (grind-influenced hc/thrash) would take a lesson from similar groove-oriented bands such as Helmet or Clutch and start incorporating vocal melodies in place of the throat tearing screams which, yes, even Earth Crisis are guilty of. What you lose in out-and-out bottom heavy crunch you make up for in versatility (and let's face it- you're never going to beat Cannibal Corpse or old Slayer anyway).

5-0 out of 5 stars I was there....
First off... earth crisis is, and always was a "local" band to me... i grew up in syracuse ny,... the home of alot of amazing hardcore bands... and the home of an amazing scene... The oath that keeps me free is indeed an amazing live album from this great NYHC god that is earth crisis.... Recorded at hungry charlies in syracuse new york.... i was there.. and the show was in fact amazing... and if you like true hardcore music and you respect earth crisis as a great sxe hardcore band then this is definately a cd to pick up...

3-0 out of 5 stars What's with Siouxsie's voice?
The big controversy concerning this CD is the quality of Siouxsie Sioux's voice. It sounds different to say the least. It's deeper and she seems to struggle to hit the notes. Was she sick or what?1-0 out of 5 stars Sadly, Siouxsie can't sing in tune anymore.
Let me first say that I am a MAJOR Siouxsie & The Banshees fan, and have been for many, many years.I didn't add this uncharacteristically awful album to my iTunes collection of the entire Siouxsie & the Banshees catalog, because the out-of-tune singing is unbearable.I can only wonder what Siouxsie herself thinks of this album.Maybe the monitors on stage were not supporting her the way she needed, but she very rarely comes close to hitting a note during the entire show. The band sounds a bit thin, with only Budgie turning in a performance that could be considered memorable. But the singing... ugh.

Well maybe you've missed what's most wonderful about her.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars gritty
I have to say this is one of the best punk albums ever. Its fast, its political, its angry and its true to punk. It also has extra rare tracks that sets this album apart from any other just live album. this cd is a classic punk must have. If this isnt in your collection than it will never be complete. Although the quality is gritty it still sounds great to me. best tracks are its a beautiful day, reagan youth and I hate hate. And remember, this band is not a racist one. so buy it or you (....) ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Meatmen heard the way they should be!
What can I say about this live album other than "wow"! Live albums can be hit and miss mostly sound quality-wise, but The Meatmen shine in what was their best 80's line-up. The heavy, loud drums, the buzzsaw guitars, throbbing bass, and Tesco Vee's original rock-em sock-em snarly vocals are all here in full clarity. Even the old school songs like Lesbian Death Dirge, Meatmen Stomp, and Tooling For Anus sound better than their original studio recordings. Plus Tesco's comments in between songs are hilarious. Little known but totally classic and essential, The Meatmen made punk fun...and heavy! Get this if you like your punk loud, fast, and PC-free! To complete your Meatmen collection also get these: Toilet Slave, Pope On A Rope, R&R Juggernaut, War of the Superbikes I&II, and Tesco Vee's Hate Police album called Gonzo Hate Vibe. After you get those albums, only then will you be a true follower of all that is Meat....Tesco Vee! The Meatmen are gone but will never be forgotten! This album is totally recommended...big time!

5-0 out of 5 stars Politically Incorrect, juvenile, obscene, and loads of fun!
There are two fake live albums I adore, this one, and Type O Negative's "Origin of the Feces". Both goof on big rock & roll drama without coming off as simply silly. The Meatmen go more for the arena rock style on this one, and the between songs banter may be the best thing about the album... "this one goes out to the chick with the winnabagos the size of my head!...". As I said, VERY politically incorrect. Downright X-rated at times. But if you have a wicked sense of humor, aren't easily offended, like irreverent stuff, and enjoy some kickass hardcore music, this one's a must... if you can find a copy. I tossed my cassette in the trash when my son got old enough to want to listen to my music collection and I was afraid of his being improperly affected by some of the misogynistic and homophobic overtones of a few of the songs... impressionable mind not mature enough to understand satire, ya know. In hindsight, that was too extreme and I should've just kept it put away for later.

5-0 out of 5 stars yeah!
this cd is awesome!! Hagfish is one of the best bands EVER probably, and this CD shows them totally rocking. I saw them live last September, and it was so much fun. This CD brings back memories (George forgetting words, the crowd shouting obscenities, all the hagfish-goodness!) for anyone who's ever seen them live. This is a must for any hagfish fan, because hearing them live is amazing.

4-0 out of 5 stars Live is the way this band was meant to be heard...
"We're Hagfish, and we go like this...", starts out the new live CD from Dallas punksters Hagfish. After I saw them play in Denton in December, I was really disappointed, but is CD makes me remember why Iliked them in the first place. Opening with "Anniversary Song",they rock out like never before, and don't let up at all throughout the CD.Up next is the best performance on the disc - "Trixie". This songhas always been one of my favorites live, and this performance has to beone of the best I've ever seen (or, in this case, heard). As usual withtheir live show, the inbetween song banter is funny if not ridiculous(listen to the story in the middle of "Envy"). They even throw insome non-CD tracks such as Moaner" and "Grin Doggie". Othernotables on here are "Crater", "White Food","Stamp", and "Bop". Unfortunately, and somewhatsurprisingly, "Happiness" is nowhere to be found on this disc.George, as usual, forgets some lyrics, in this case in "Fruit"and "Sucker". During the last song, "Flat", theymention that this is their last show ever, even thoughit was recorded atTrees in October, and I saw their next, in Denton, and my brother saw theone after that (their "real" last show ever) at Trees in April. And even after that show, Zach, the guitarist told my brother that theymight play a show in Dallas at the end of the summer. Anyway, this CDreally does kick ass, and you should get it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Major Label screws up again
I'll have to agree with the previous reviewer.I'm not intimately familiar with Agent Orange, but this is anything but "Real Live Sound".From the faked roadie intro to the added screaming to the studio recorded between song banter, this is a prime example of how major record labels manipulate perfectly good bands.Given that is was recorded in 1991, during the heyday of the cocaine and glam fueled pop metal era (in L.A., no less) it's a wonder that it isn't worse. Some of the songs are good, however, but to put them into rotation on my pirate radio station I had to do some pretty heavy editing. Is Restless Records still in business? They shouldn't be.

4-0 out of 5 stars Raw, but with lots of emotion.
OK, yes this album is raw and yes Mike's vocals are a little harsh in some places, but it is a great live album for the diehard fan of old school punk. In fact, a lot of the songs are different versions then the studio ones, and sound very cool. For you old schoolers out there Social Distortions Mommy's Little Monster was not that great a recording and Ness was a sloppy guitar player back then, but the album is a punk rock classic.I'm not saying this is a classic but it IS an album to be appreciated and well worth four stars.

2-0 out of 5 stars I'd hate to see real fake sound
Agent Orange's only live album "Real Live Sound" is a sign of the times it was recorded in. 1990. L.A. The Roxy....The first thing that came to my mind just by looking at the cover and liner notes was the pop sound of the moment in 1990...pop heavy metal. And guess what? This is Agent Orange doing its best impersonation of a pop metal act. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the face of pure rock and roll...
Yes. Good. Finally this is available with bonus tracks and is on CD and is as good as it ever was. You should buy this. It is good rock and roll, it is live in NY, it is loud and abrasive and melodic and like a sing-a-longat the end of the world. Notable tracks such as "Loyola" and"Search and Destroy" and "Master Race Rock" and"Baby Let's Twist" are completely satisfying on every ostensiblelevel....the stage patter from Handsome Dick Manitoba fulfills and exceedsexpectations...for the price, you'd be hard pressed to find an album thatbetter represents a band's energy and sound on stage and makes you justwant to get up and dance on a car hood all night long....

4-0 out of 5 stars Arrogance and hard rock fury
A reissue of ROIR's cassette release "Fuck 'Em If They Can't Take a Joke," "The Dictators Live: New York New York," is a welcome addition to your collectionif you could never stand the fragile tape-onlyformat. ROIR did reissue it on CD a number of years ago but that editionwent quickly out of print. The new version contains three extra tunes froma Dics show at the Ritz in NYC in the early Eighties.I was there and Ican tell ya it was a bitchin' performance. The crowd was nuts, desparatefor faster and louder guitars and that arrogant Dictators magic.Bags ofWhite Castle burgers were thrown into the crowd.Civilians were bootedfrom the stage. Blood was spilt. Feminists uttered menacing epithets undertheir breaths. In "Master Race Rock," guitarist Ross the Boss'plexi Marshall peels out right over the face of the listener for three anda half minutes of hard rock fury.In 1998, it whales the tar out ofanything current in the heavy metal genre.Killer versions of Mott theHoople's "The Moon Upstairs" and "The Minnesota Strip"from the "Bloodbrothers" album are also not to be missed.--Dick Destiny ... 3-0 out of 5 stars HALF GOOD
The first 6 songs are intense riot/punk stuff, live in 77,and they rule. The 7th song is "acoustic" though it features nothing but an acoustic guitar and dual Ari Up&Nina Hagen vocals. The "dub era" songs are downright boring and don't even sound like dub to me (at least in the reggae sense of the word).I guess the cd is OK for the first 6 tracks, just not exactly the best bang for the buck.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yes!A stunningly accurate document . . .
There are two halves to this CD - one of the early, pre-Cut punk stuff, one of the later more overtly reggae/African influenced stuff. This is an accurate depicition of the band at these stages, full of irreverance andspastic musical joy.I love the Slits and saw them several times, this ismore like what they were than any of their studio recordings manage toexpress.

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than "Cut"
These live recordings are much more interesting than the studio versions. The "punk era" performances are best, the later versions are less exciting. Overall, a good introduction to the band. It's just a pity thatBudgie doesn't appear. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Essential rock in an extremely shoddy release
First the good news. There is finally a release of the Damned's amazing BBC In Concert performance from May 1977, where the original quartet, at their musical peak, run through most of their debut album plus a few singles tracks. For those who've never heard the original Damned, they're generally described as a "punk" band, and they are. But this is primal, high-energy rock that belongs in the pantheon with the Stooges, MC5 and vintage Motorhead. And on this live set, they're faster and tighter than any of those bands. Simply incredible musicianship by what must have been, at the time, the fastest rock band ever. Kudos especially to drummer Rat Scabies--as wild as Keith Moon yet remarkably on the beat, always keeping the momentum up.

3-0 out of 5 stars Spotty, but worth it
If memory serves correct, The Minutemen had plans to record a live album of their fan's favorite songs entitled Ballot Result. However, due to the untimely passing of D. Boon, they were forced to assemble this collection of radio broadcasts, live and rehearsal recordings, and even some studio tracks (when live versions didn't exist). Ultimately, you have to commend Mike and George for carrying on with the project. None the less, there are some definate peaks and valleys on this collection. This record starts out strong with a decently recorded 1985 radio brodcast featuring smokin' versions of some of their best songs. These tracks alone justify purchasing this CD (preferably the LP for the extra songs). The remainder of the tracks, however, are a hodge-podge oflive and rehearsal material that is either marred by poor recording quality or sub-par performances. Tracks like "Tour Spiel" and "Take Our Test", while far from unlistenable, stick out in my mind as being especially inferior to the studio versions. In addition, the remix of "No One" single-handedly demonstrates what is so horribly wrong with 80's studio production. Yes, I'm nit-picking, but these issues keep this from being a 5-star disc, in my opinion. Still, Ballot Result is well worth owning based on its obvious strengths.

5-0 out of 5 stars i voted in this "ballot"
a fitting tribute to the greatest band of any genre. listening to this album you can see where they were evolving - from a band with lightning fast short songs to a jam band. if d. boon had lived they'd be the grateful dead of their generation. as it is mike watt (the bass player) has just released his second punk rock opera. remember d boon every april fool's day - that was his birthday! (really)

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazingly awesome stuff
I aquired a used copy of this record on vinyl for an extremely low price. I would recomend trying to find a copy on vinyl because the CD version is missing four tracks, one of which is the absolutely amazing "Hey Lawdy Mama". This ranges from radio shows to audience bootlegs to unreleased studio stuff. I have a problem with some of the songs. The "No One" remix just sucks. "Hell" gets boring after a little while. And the solos at the beginning of "Mr. Robot's Holy Orders", although well done (bofus?), get tedious. Of course, this shouldn't make you not buy this record. The live versions of some of the best songs are on here (missing "Party With Me Punker" and "Vietnam" though.)And they were just as good live as they were in the studio! There's a cool version of D. singing Watt's "Badges" with George Hurly's little brother screaming in the background. All around, a great record. Definately worth your hard earned cash. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but not really great
This CD is pretty good all in all, but for those concerned, I believe Hallraker is made up of stuff recorded on the band's last tour before Milo left the band the first time around.Liveage came about the same way from the same batch of recordings.Hallraker contains lots of good material, but it's mostly the marginal stuff that wasn't quite good enough to make it onto Liveage.
5-0 out of 5 stars the best descendents ever.
this is my favorite descendents album. for those of you not familiar with the group, i would strongly recommend starting with this one. the stellar set list captures the energy of one of their live performances. my personal favorite track is "good good things," and i can't even bear to listen to the studio version anymore. the song choices, although less "popular" than some of those on liveage, have become my favorites because of this record. buy it now. what are you waiting for?!?

5-0 out of 5 stars DESCENDYOURSELF LIVE

4-0 out of 5 stars buy insomniac
this cd has all of the same songs as in insomniac but insomniac has alot more tracks the only song on here thats not on insomniac is knowledge.(check out the new superhits album before you buy it, i have most of the songs on it and i only have five greenday cds) a four because of the lack tracks and because it has the same songs.but its greenday so its got to be great

5-0 out of 5 stars Green Day kicks even more @$$ live!
"Bowling Bowling Bowling Parking Parking" is Green Day's first live EP, and they sound even better playing live than they do on their regular albums. Their punk attitude shows through more when they play live than on any other album, even "Dookie." The tracks are few here, only 7 songs, but it is still an incredible record. Personally, I think "Brain Stew" is the best track on this album, but every song is great. I highly suggest this to any Green Day fan. Don't let the high price drive you away, it is well worth the money!

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME GREEN DAY CD
Despite the shortage of tracks, this CD has the live versions of most of Green Day's best songs- which sound BETTER than the Album versions.I think that Brain Stew is the best song on this CD.A must-buy for Green Day fans! ... Read more
