5-0 out of 5 stars Live works for jawbreaker
This is a really good tight set played by jawbreaker with a few new tracks on it aswell the only real let down is that they only played a small set and as good as the music is it would have been better to hear more from jawbreaker before they split having said that the cd is worth picking up it's just about half an hour long so you get a little bit of a listen out of it but it's not one of jawbreakers more pre-eminent releases. I would recommened etc or bivouac and Dear you to this but still you cant beat live shows in alot of ways i only own a few live cd's - willie and lobos - live one, no use for a name - live, face to face - live and bracket - live and all of those releases are pretty good to listen to. When you listen to this live cd you cant help but wonder why they could'nt have been more live recordings in the jawbreaker archive to put on this disc or a similar disc. When you see a band or hear a band live you get to find out whether they are a good band and whether the instruments complement each other like they do on the studio performances well in this case they do which clarifys jawbreakers quality as a band. It would have been a great show to be at and this is the closest your going to get.

5-0 out of 5 stars do you really need a review
If you've come this far, you don't need my to tell you why you should own this. just do yourself a favor and buy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars jawbreaker is bigger than the beatles
this album rules.......everything about it just is great, the songs, the recording, everything.you cant go wrong with it. even if you dont like jawbreaker, youll like this.its one of my favorite cds but the onlydownside to it is that its too short.but hey, any jawbreaker is worth it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Just as good as if you were seeing them in concert!!!
I just bought this CD and absolutely LOVE it!! I saw DHC in concert about 8 years ago in Hawaii and it was one of my all time favorites! This CD really brings back great memories of how GREAT they sound live! It's so upbeat and catchy!

3-0 out of 5 stars Not a great beginner's CD
This is my first intro to DHC. I am a big fan of groups with intelligent or interesting lyrics (TMBG, Barenaked Ladies, Nerfherder) and used the Amazon recommendation to look into them. I figured this would hit their better songs and let me decide if I want to pursue them further.5-0 out of 5 stars wow...just wow
To anyone reading this review, BUY THIS CD! I bought it after not knowing many DHC songs and it knocked me off of my feet. The CD was instantly on the list as one of my all time favorite CD's.There isn't one song on here not worth listening to.Trust me, it's the kind of CD you listen to in your car and decide to keep driving around, just so you can keep listening to..alright maybe I'm the only one that happened to, but trust me, there is not one song on here that you won't want to listen to. SO BUY IT ALREADY! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Dead Boys - 'Night Of The Living Dead Boys'(Bomp Records)
I've HEARD that this was the band's third actual album. That info might be wrong, but it doesn't matter.'Night Of...' was recorded in March,1979 at New York City's famed CBGB Club and it was the final performance by the original line-up.How many of you remember the Dead Boys vocalist Stiv Bators?Yes,it has been awhile. All thirteen of the gig's tunes totally shred, but the tracks that I liked the most are "Third Generation Nation","Catholic Boy","What Love Is" and the ass-kicking "I Need Lunch".Good sound mix.Should appeal to fans of the Sex Pistols,Generation X and The Damned.

4-0 out of 5 stars Still great.....
When it came out everyone thought it was great---and then all the sudden we find out years later that Stiv overdubbed the vocals....Quite a sin I suppose but really who cares anyway. In fact if you look at it it's almost anti-punk(not a chic thing to be I would guess) but you never can please the purists and really punk is suppose to be a chaotic mess anyhow. With that said this is still a great live document of the hoodlums in all their glory..so get it and forget the over analytical hype and just jump in...lifes too short....and kudos to Stiv Bators for having the guts to overdub the vocals in the first place....he was probably too tanked that night to sing straight anyhow.

5-0 out of 5 stars History factoids not fiction
Couple of quick things, having Lived through the dead boys playin at gildersleeves and the CB theatre, Son of Sam was RELEASED AFTER berkowitz was caught!! FACT not fiction!! Stiv ALWAYS said stuff like the best quote, doesn't make it true! What they got paid wouldn't get ME to get out there! Remember, at the time, the Dead Boys were NOT the most loved band!! Band members getting stabbed, od'ing, playing drunk etc, was all part of the schtick! To the guy who BELIEVES what Bomp says deserves to be ignorant!!Stiv never was that great at mic placement, nor enunciation(or in fact being coherent!)! They were NEVER a band that played live where you could get a live album outta it!! But, if you were UNABLE to tape the Meg Griffin broadcast Dead Boys Concert outta Hillys CBGB Theatre, and you ARE a Dead Boys fan, then LIVE DEAD BOYS is a disc you should OWN! Period!! after all, there aint nothin to do! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Pure Force
Other reviewers have asserted that Negative Approach didn't understand hardcore and that their music missed the point entirely.Negative Approach was pure hardcore/punk.Hardcore/punk is a nihilistic outcry of pure rage and force. It expresses the disenfranchisementand alienation of its followers/participants.Negative Approach's music is pure force. It hits the listener like a ton of bricks. And so what if the lyrics aren't amazing and the music is a little cliched, that's not the point. The soul behind it is pure power, and it hits to the core of what hardcore/punk music is about.

4-0 out of 5 stars Im angry, angry, angry , angry
I love negative approach. I really do. But if there is one drawbackits that i cant listen to them all the time like some ofmy favorite bands like crass, addiction face, and the dead milkmen. Their just too angry. Ive got an analogy to sum it up for you. he hem. NEGATIVE APPROACH IS TO FURIOUS as DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL IS TO UNREASONABLY BUTHURT OVER NOTHING. I love the album though i mean being mad isnt bad but N/A were certainly not the greatest.

5-0 out of 5 stars pure rage
"Total Recall" is one of the best representations of hardcore that America has produced. It's not that Negative Approach are great musicians or lyricists, and the production is not what some people would call "passable" (though I love the raw stuff) ... it's that the sheer anger and nihilistic hopelessness that so many of us have experienced at one time or another comes through loud and clear in their music.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Hell and Thunders, so alone together
The fact that Richard Hell and Johnny Thunders shared a stage in 1975 makes this album indispensable for any fan of New York rock. The sound isn't that great, but these thirteen performances are the "big bang" of the whole scene that followed the demise of the New York Dolls (Johnny's "Pirate Love") and Hell's departure from Television (a major part of his first album "Blank Generation" gets worked out here). Lucky someone had a tape-recorder for these two dates -- this lineup was bound to self-destruct for all kinds of reasons. An historic document.

4-0 out of 5 stars Thunders, Hell, Nolan, Lure: the Early Months
A nice artifact: the early Heartbreakers with Richard Hell. For LAMFers, this is a must to fill the collection. For neophytes, well, come back to this when you've had some experience. The sound quality isn't so good, and the band was still teething, yet there is always Jerry Nolan to push things along, as well as Hell's weird charisma and Johnny's two-string sorcery--all in all a splendid find. Hearing Richard Hell sing "Can't Keep My Eyes On You" and Johnny harmonizing on Hell's stuff are an experience. Also, a freshly-broken-hearted-from-Sable-Starr version of "Stepping Stone" make this well worth the price. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars gooses review
This cd has some of the best lagwagon stuff ever made. They put 22 songs on the cd so you get a lot for your money compared to most cds. They put an acoustic version of "alien 8" and then their regular one after it which was ok but they talked way too much and said hey you want to hear us sing and the first thing that should come to mind is ya I didn't buy this cd to hear you run your mouth. Some of their best stuff on the cd include "violins" it also has a good intro when joe yells violins."Messengers" is about the same quality as the older version, "never stops" is probably a little better than the old version, Sick is way better than the old version which also was great."island of shame" is about equal to the old one, "Give it back" is a little worse but is still great." after you my friend" and "may 16th" are worse cause they added some comments in the middle of the songs that ruined them."razor burn" was also much better.Falling apart was another that was about the same."Sleep" had a long boring intro before the song, They also put "beer goggles" on the cd which would have been unforgivable if they hadn't."beer goggles" has to be lagwagons best and most interesting song. The only new song I liked was "the Chemist"Which they said was there least favorite new song."Bombs away" "burn" "Coffee and Cigarettes" and "stokin' the neighbors" all were great too."stokin' the neighbors" is a halarius song.A lot of people I know said the've done some midnight landscaping too except they usually do so sober. The other stuff wasent bad but some of it was seems like it was just put on the cd to give the band a break in between the better stuff. If you've never had a lagwagon cd and want a good sample of all their best stuff this is what you would want to listen to.

5-0 out of 5 stars the wagon still rockin & rollin along at breakneck speed
Well i never--after thinking the Caper couldnt top the live experience created on the Gimme Gimmes awesome Barmitzvah bash, he gets hold of that microphone again and proves otherwise !.With the incomparable back catalogue at their disposal, Big Joe , Big Bitch and the boys just roll out the classics one after another (and still find time for a little drop of reggae inbetween AND a great singing cameo by Leon on "Coconut" as well). The Hollywood crowd are treated to timeless punk chestnuts such as Violins, After You My Friend, Razorburn, May 16th, Bombs Away and Stokin' The Neighbours--the list goes on. The Wagon play with such great energy, and the love every minute of it just as much as the crowd, and leading them throughout the extravaganza is the finest frontman in the rock n roll cosmos--Joey Cape. The man is a true colossus, a true demi-god (pocket sized version obviously !)--a man who can do everything (sing ,strum that guitar, bang the drums and in his spare time produce and promote bands AND run his own record label. He is quite simply the greatest (forget Elvis and other such impostors), the Caper is the man. I cannot wait for the next studio album from the Wagon (building further on Blaze, which was a belter and well worth the wait), and also cannot wait for the next tour of England (as i for one will be right at the front paying homage to the greatest band in the universe).

5-0 out of 5 stars I was there and it was great
My friend jersey dave and I got to the show 4 hours early becouse we were bored. what we found was the sun center filled with hundreds of kids . Some of them were from as far way as germany. The show was insane. If you can imagine getting chills in a room that was that small and like 120 degrees, that was how increadible it was. and being arm in arm with people from 1000 miles away was nothing short of mindblowing. this record is phenomenal. one of the 2 greatest live records I have ever heard (right up there w/ kiss alive). buy this record, put it on and go nuts ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fall -live at the witchtrials
I love this album. For years I had it on a tape together with Dragnet. Finally got it on CD. This album sounds stripped down, nothing fancy just great music and Mark E Smiths distinctive voice. The entire album was recorded in one day and mixed the following day. The Fall are an underrated band to come out of the punk / post-punk era of England. This album sounds just as good today as it did when I first heard it some 17 years ago. Although it is the Fall's first album it sounds remarkably mature and together. Highly recommended to those who have an open mind to music.

5-0 out of 5 stars astounding
the fall do it all. If the glove don't fit brothers and sisters thenyou must definetly aquit

5-0 out of 5 stars Kinetic Explosion, Wild Ride of Colors
The album is a magnificent creation. The music consists of disparate elements (awesome spikey guitar, busy drumming, simplistic keyboards, bass, and slurring barking voice), held together by passion and energy. This band posessed more ambition and ability than their peer group (Sex Pistols, Clash, Jam, PIL, Sioxsie & Banshees, Gang of 4, and other great bands). It's a mystery to me why they weren't more appreciated.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One Of The Best Live Releases I've Ever Heard
I'm not a huge fan of live releases because the studio versions always sound better so whats the point? This is definetly an exception to that rule. I would dare say that this is the 2nd or 3rd best live disc I've heard behind Peter Frampton, and The Beatles. The music hall this was recorded in, Royal Albert Hall, sounds awesome and The Stranglers have a 13 piece string arraingement to back them up, it really works well. I got this as a cutout for less than $5.00(US) with shipping, I'd dare say even if this was your first Stranglers purchase it would be a good one. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Dead Moon is an exception to the rule. For most bands, a live album is a toss-off, either a hastily assembled package released as a stopgap until the next studio project or something shoveled under management's door as a half-spirited contract fulfillment. For Dead Moon, a live album is like church on Christmas: an occasion for reverence and genuflection. Recorded somewhere in the Slovenia--in Europe Dead Moon are treated like living treasures--Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent live show on cd as well as in person
I just saw this band last night, and their energy on stage is amazing.Hard Wired is a great collection of their older songs, and definetely captures what makes them so good live.

2-0 out of 5 stars if you are buying cuz of Pearl Jam don't...
The Ramones meet AC/DC. A live record with the song covered by Pearl Jam. Not a great recording. The songs are good, would rather hear studio versions. If you are looking to buy cause of the Pearl Jam song.. don't waste your money. Otherwise they are a good band but the production is no good!

5-0 out of 5 stars Real Rock N Roll
Fred Cole has been around since he was the lead singer for the Lollipop Shoppe when he was 16 years old in 1966.Him and his wife Trudy formed the Rats in the mid 70's, some great well written punk music. I have a couple of the records. Then they did some country punk before it became popular. I have seen Fred and Trudy live a few times and they are great. Dead Moon has put out a bunch of stuff since the 70's, try to find the out of print stuff.have fun,EVL.. PS. The Rats and Dead Moon had a great impact in the NW with Punk and Country Punks. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Blondie - 'Live In New York' (BMG Special Product)
Very nice reunion gig of the '70's new wave/pop band while out on their '99 reunion tour.I got to see them play live a few years later and believe me,Blondie is still a fun act to go see.Total of seventeen cuts here to show you the band still means business.Enjoyed hearing again "Hanging On The Telephone","The Tide Is High"(I usually don't care for this tune),"Shayla","Rapture","X Offender",their signature song "Heart Of Glass" and "One Way Or Another".Four original members intact include Debbie Harry-vocals,Chris Stein-guitar,Jimmy Destri-keyboardist and Clem Burke-drums.I remember when I saw them play, there were two others with them, making Blondie a six piece.Couldn't find any info on the disc's cover.Recommended if you're an old school fan.You shouldn't be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars LIVE CD VERSION OF NEW YORK SHOW
This CD offers a fair show of Blondie live in New York.Debbie sings great and the whole CD is great! All in all Blondie is still a hip and cool band that can still rock out!!!
3-0 out of 5 stars Still radiating, only slightly faded
I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of live albums and rarely listen to them. But I've always liked Blondie, and didn't get to see them live, so I made an exception.

4-0 out of 5 stars Johnny Thunders&The Hearbreakers-'Vive La Revolution!'(Munster)
Long live the spirit of the late Johnny Thunders,1952-1991.Didn't realize he's been gone that long, nor was I aware that he had SO much material available.'Vive...' is a fourteen track live archive CD that was recorded in Paris on December 8,1977.Sound isn't perfect, but acceptable.Didn't notice any New York Dolls tunes on here.Cuts I liked the best were "Let Go","Too Much Junkie Business","London Boys" and the tune he apparently co-wrote with Richard Hell and Dee Dee Ramone,"Chinese Rocks"(good guitar riffs). Also, there are six out-takes tagged on.Decent proto-punk to be fully experienced.Check it out.

2-0 out of 5 stars Two Letters Come to Mind: P and U
This gets two stars because it's Johnny and the boys, but getting two just for showing up is not enough. Horribly recorded with a mix by Helen Keller and with a slipcase designed by a hater of CDs, the contents of this abomination--regardless of the fine liner notes--are repulsive and are puzzling, as in, Why was this released? For the true studio Heartbreakers please consider the Lost Mixes, for the live experience there are DTK and the Max's records. P as well as U.....

4-0 out of 5 stars best live heartbreakers $$ can buy?
This is a great CD. The live tracks (taped in Paris, 1977) are, in my opinion, liver, louder, and more fun than either "D.T.K." or "Live at Max's." There's not much between-song wisecracking, but you know where to find that (see above). This is just smokin', slightly sloppy Heartbreakers at their best. (Charging into a section of "Do You Love Me," someone (Johnny or Walter) is so excited, he plays the totally wrong chords. It's great!) Read more

Editorial Review

If your lone experience with The Supersuckers is as a guitar-posing, riff-wielding, cowboy hat-clad garage band, you’ll find this ultra-rare transformation to nightclub country band as surprising as it is intoxicating. Recorded live in their hometown and retracing the sketches of their 1997 countrified album Must’ve Been High, the band--led by animated vocalist Eddie SpaghettiRead more

Pennywise have always been one of my favorite 90s Punk Bands. And this live cd f*ckin kills. Most of their best tracks on 1 cd
4-0 out of 5 stars Classic Pennywise!!!
Wow!..What a live album by an awesome punk band. The energy displayed here by Pennywise is incredible and should not be overlooked by any Pennywise fan. Most of the material played is older songs, but that says nothing. All of them are great in their own way.Their fast and aggressive style is clearly seen on every song.

5-0 out of 5 stars DTK
Not only is the performance scorching, but it has the crispest sound you could ask for.Do not hesitate to buy this.

5-0 out of 5 stars When Punk Comes to Town
This is a live album par excellence... in actuality, it's more of a gem than most of its owners might realize, since it's the Heartbreakers before they got signed to Track Records and released the equally classic 'LAMF'.As such, the performance rivals the studio album in intensity, but also in terms of sound--the production is almost flawless.5-0 out of 5 stars Over The Top!!
Hard to think of a live R'n'R album that compares with this for sheer energy. Recorded at London's Speakeasy club in March 1977, it captures Johnny and the boys at the height of their powers. From the opening "Chinese Rocks," which explodes out the gate like a runaway train, you get all the buzz-saw guitar riffs, sloppy vocals, and manic drumming that defined Thunders' brand of stripped-down, no B.S. rock'n'roll. The between-song abuse Johnny hurls at the "boring" kids in the crowd for not wanting to dance just adds fuel to the fire. If you don't love D.T.K., then you don't love rock'n'roll. ... Read more
