5-0 out of 5 stars life in a moment
this is one of the only live albums id ever spring the payola for.the raw energy in the performances is just unbalievable.after seeing B.R. live about 6,7 years ago i was very pleased with the album for it brought back that show.this is definetly one of those albums you can listen to over and over driving everyone around you crazy unless there die hard fans too.id give this three thumbs up along the five stars.two of my thumbs and one from the guy standing next to me.a most definet worthy purchase.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow
This CD is amazing.I give it four stars only because of certain songs that weren't included.5-0 out of 5 stars does any band sound better live than BR?
As someone who has listened to Bad Religion since they first came about, I am not only impressed by this album, I am obsessed with it. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for Fans
This albums is great for Dinosaur Jr. /J Mascis fans.I prefer the sound on this disc to the Martin + Me live acoustic show. The shows are similar, but this ones works better for me.
4-0 out of 5 stars Unreleased: Sort of...
First off, it's J. Mascis and it's a fine solo show so it gets 4 stars. That said, if you already own "Martin + Me", you're essentially paying for 3 songs by buying this (Not the Same, Quest, and Throw Down; the later coming in at about 45 seconds). Even the arrangements and the vocal delivery are almost identical to "Martin + Me". Wouldn't shock me to hear they were recorded within a week of one another. Surprising that J let this one out of the vault. Must have been needing the royalties before he was able to convince Lou Barlow to go in on the Dinosaur Jr. reunion.

4-0 out of 5 stars A solid acoustic performance
I just picked this up. I was ecstatic that my local music store actually carried this (Zulu Records in Vancouver). Anyways, 10 of the 12 tracks are previously unreleased. Fans of the loud and squealing guitar of Dinosaur Jr might be a bit put off by this album. When they say acoustic show, they mean it. There doesn't appear to be anything else to the tracks other than acoustic guitar, vocals, and maybe a touch of reverb. This is just raw J Mascis. Anyways, the sound quality is excellent and tracks are mosty good. For me, the stand out track is definately Repulsion. This works so well as a purely acoustic number. That song alone is worth the price of the CD.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great acoustic release
Authority Zero had a hit on MTV a few years back entitled "One More Minute", but other than that, they pretty much dropped off of the collective radar of the music world. Sure, they released a record in 2004 (Andiamo), but it went predominantly unnoticed by almost everyone. Oddly, instead of fading out into obscurity, the boys in Authority Zero have decided to come back around with an acoustic live album.

5-0 out of 5 stars This IS Flipper.
"Blow'n Chunks"(the original, nine-song cassette on ROIR) was my introduction to the disturbing, amusical rumble of Flipper. I wore that tape out and then came across a copy of their debut, "Generic"...only to be sorely disappointed. In the studio, Flipper were a little too manicured, a little too controlled. Live, they were downright murderous!
4-0 out of 5 stars Four stars 'cause it's Flipper...
Outside of that, the others have pretty much nailed it about the quality of this release. So why give it 4 stars? It's Flipper. What's Flipper?Well, when I was much, much younger, I won tickets to go see Flipper off KSJS (San Jose State's radio station) for knowing that FESTUS is the deputy to Marshall Dillon on Gunsmoke. The fact that *THAT* kind of trivia question served as my ticket to go see Flipper live should tell you what you need to know.If it doesn't, you'll never get it and you should just stick to buying Olivia Newton John records.

1-0 out of 5 stars Flipper Rules OK But THIS SUCKS
FLIPPER Rules, OK?But this CD SUCKS."Generic" Their masterpiece is out of print.Roir markets this album as an assortment of their greatest hits...it is not. This CD has been hands down my biggest disappointment in music EVER.These live versions completely ruin the songs.I've been a Flipper fan since I heard "Ha Ha Ha" on AT's "Let them eat Jelly Beans".This album is the worst.Tell you what...for your money you would be better off buying the Melvin's Singles...they do an awesome cover of Flippers "Way of the World"...They also do "Sacrifice" on the Melvin's record. Will someone please reissue "Generic" and PLEASE do not re-mix it.It was fine the way it was. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Super Dooper
This is without a doubt my favorite live record ever recorded.Every song is solid. The sound quality is great for a live recording. Most live recordings annoy me, but this one rocks. Great sound and great songs.I miss this band a lot.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Live Album Ever
Of all the live albums I've heard, this is easily the best. The EQ'ing and performance are top notch. If you like Face To Face (or punk rock for that matter) you have to have this album.Consider it a "Best of Face To Face" album but even more spectacular due to the fact they're actually playing this live.My favorite Face To Face album and a top 10 favorite album of all time.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this album with all my heart.Ultralistenable HC
Ordinarily I don't write a review for items with over say, 5 reviews. But, not surprisingly, this record gets love it or hate it reviews. All hardcore punk rock enthusiasts love it (how can you not?) and all heaven's to Murgatroid alt post punk lovin' musical sweethearts (we could use other terms but maybe you get the idea?Sure we do) hate it because it is so intense and unrelenting.
5-0 out of 5 stars Refreshingly non-sterile
I guess for youngsters who only grew up with sterile, wanna-be punk or "hard" music, this is difficult to get.

5-0 out of 5 stars awesome cd
this was just an impulse buy, i saw it on sale for $6 and recognized a few of the bands, so i bought it. it is great. i'll definatly try to go to the warped tour this year. but shouldnt this carry a 'parental adivsory' sticker? the f-word is spaced out over both discs, but especially in the casualties' "made in nyc", they say the f-word at least 20 times. its an awesome song though, its a tribute to the ramones.

4-0 out of 5 stars I Should Have Been There
I got this at a yard sale because I was interested in the genre of music. The genre of this album is really more than I expected, though. I was expecting a lot of punk songs that sounded the same. But what it really is is a lot of different genres mixed into one thing called alternative. There are all kinds of music on this. There are 52 songs by 52 different artists. There were a couple songs that weren't great and I don't think I would have enjoyed live, but there were a lot of songs that really catchy. There are a lot of small name bands on this various artists mix, but there are also some big names like Yellowcard and Story of the Year. Altogether, I thought this was a good CD and definitely worth my time. I also think that any punk, metal or just plain rock fan should posess it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Insane punk compilation
This is probablly the best Warped tour album yet. Most of the bands are true punk and are incredible. My favorites are Lagwagon,Authority zero, and Avenged sevenfold. This compilation host some of the best punk groups and their best songs. For $7 by it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Lets set the records straight.
I was very dissapointed to read all these BAD reviews about the Warped Tour '05 Compilation. Allow me to set the record straight. The Offspring are one of the best bands of all times, and finally recorded a track especially for this cd. Already making this one better than the previous coupies. To add, we have some of the best punk bands of the past couple decades making a come back, and a couple great new bands. To explain this, We have MXPX, who have been around forever, but justifying their taste of punk to a more mature level that anyone can appreciate. The Dropkick Murphys, quite possible the best irish punk band of all times, with their most irish influenced song they have ever released. Plain White T's have always been a thrash emo sound. Except minus the thrash a little, an put in more of a indie sound. All changes made for a changing society. As for new day bands, Fall out Boy, they won't let any of their pop/punk fans down with the catchy "Saturday". From First to Last, let's just take hardcore and turn it into a roller coaster, this song is very unpredictable, and the sound is rad. The very only thing I can say was malfunctioned in the making of this album was the Gogol Bordello song. WE all know what "Track Skip" is. Enjoy the rest of the 49 songs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Compilation
This has to be one of my favorite warped tour comps. All the songs are great except the Offspring song "Beheaded".
2-0 out of 5 stars punk guy on cover, with one, maybe two punk bands of CD
yea, hmm, what can i say. justin sane, singer/guitarist from Anti-Flag on the front cover. and i think that may be george from the casulaties on the back cover. two punk bands, two good punk bands, and whats on the CD?...EMO. why advertise an emo cd with two punk people on the front and back cover? can you get any more controversial? i have to admit i do like some of the bands on the CD, good songs, good bands. i like it back in the day when there actually was punk bands on a CD that advertised punk people on the covers. if was justin sane, i'd be so ashamed to have my face on the cover of this CD. ever since last year, this CD, no tour, has gone down the drain, more and more crappier bands, and more and more controversy. whoever made this tour/CD is only looking for money and thats all he cares about, he doesn't care about the music. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars great CD
I think that this is a really good buy for a dead milkmen fan. This CD is great, the dead milkmen live from the peak of there performace. I love the way that they change the lyrics and they get the crowd into it, almost makes you feel like you were there

4-0 out of 5 stars Very very good!
I didn't know what to expect when I purchased this CD. Having seen the DM live 3 times, I knew that their live show isn't exactly always sonically impressive.4-0 out of 5 stars For Dead Milkmen fans only
I like the Dead Milkmen, so I like this cd, but if you've never heard them, try their studio stuff first. This cd probably won't win over too many new fans. Try Beezlebubba, Bucky Fellini, or Richard, Not Dick or whatever it's called. (if you can find it) Anyway, back to THIS cd. It hassort of a raw production, but not so raw that it sounds completely bad. Some well known songs are performed like "Punk Rock Girl" and"Bitchin Camaro". This show was recorded during the Beelzebubbatour, I assume, because there are no songs that came out after that on thiscd. There is a hidden track at the end. You'll find a live version of"If I Had A Gun". If you're already a DM fan, this cd is for you.If you're not familiar, get a studio cd first. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars horrible
the fisrt disc is sissy sounding people singing. the only good song is by go betty go. and the other disc is stupid screamo and spazoid stuff. what a waste of money!! :(

5-0 out of 5 stars Insanely Good
This 2 disc compilation of all aspects of alternative is a must-have for anyone that likes it. They managed not only to put ther best bands at the time (2004), on these discs, but they also scrounged up the very best songs. If there was one song that each of these bands would've played at the Grammys, (if the Grammys played alternative, which they don't) these would be it. Again it's all aspects of alternative. You have your general punk "Jersey", and then you have your emo "Lightweight Holiday" "Amber Pacific" and you also have your ska "Big D and the Kids Table" and you have your hardcore punk "From First to Last" and your 90's wave punk "The Casualties". If you love alternative theres nothing to not love about this. I bought this the first day it came to store and i still give it a good work-out in my cd player.

4-0 out of 5 stars You get to listen to a variety and learn what you do and dont like
Well first off when i bought this cd like over a year ago.. i was just a greenday and Blink-182 junkie. had been for like 3 years. Then i bought this cd hoping to find some new bands and slowly started getting into other Punk/Emo/Alternitive/Screamo bands.. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars We need change, and we need it fast.
This album is often overlooked by Ramones fans, but it does have some significant things about it.It's the first album without Dee Dee.It's the first album with C.J.It's the first live album released in the US.It's the last album released by Sire Records.Other than that, how is the album?Pretty good, actually. It is a typical solid Ramones concert of the era.The songs are played faster than the studio versions, as usual.C.J. does an admirable job of taking Dee Dee's place, even singing "Wart Hog" about as well as Dee Dee did.The set list doesn't really have any surprises, other than one big surprise. The BIG SURPRISE is the hidden bonus track, which is "Carbona Not Glue".It appears between "Pet Sematary" and "Judy is a Punk".Ramones fans should enjoy this CD.

5-0 out of 5 stars clinched fisted punk...
"punk" is one of those things that is everything and nothing. it has no standard for what it has to be. it's all about giving a finger to rules johnny cast style. and if you need a definition then you probably will never understand it. however, if you need a little help, this albulm is a perfect example of what punk should be. here's a band out of their prime, missing members, years too old for this type stuff, giving it everything. just tearing it up. the sound is fast, fuzzy, and furious. joeys vocals are amazing. you really get to hear his range on this album, sometimes switching mid word from bopper to growl. and his voice gets better as the set goes on, just incredible. songs like "animal boy" and "today you love, tomorrow the world"are great examples. this is an albulm everyone needs in their collction.

5-0 out of 5 stars The song RAMONES the same...
As a joke, when people would squish up their faces and ask me"what do the Ramones sound like,"I would answer"well, they're kinda like the satanic Beach Boys."Yes a joke, but it got the point across to everyone that they're really not like anyone, but it seems that everyone wants to sound like THEM.How craphole bands like Blink 182 and Good Charlotte can sell millions of albums and live in mansionsand the Ramones ate dogfood is just further testament to the vast ignorance of the record buying public and the futility of believing in a just and loving god. From the beginning of their career to the end of it,The Ramones were the seminal punk rock group. If you haven't heard The Ramones, you have never, repeat, never heard true punk rock. This is about as close as any newbie will ever be to seeing them live, and that's a shame. The songs are fast, the audience is loud, and the setlist is phenomenal. There's no other band in the world that could plow through that many songs in 65 minutes without an encore. To be honest,The Ramones never once needed an encore to please their fans. This is in my opinion the greatest and truest live album ever recorded,a real treat for the fans, and one of the rare occasions it wasn't just a marketing ploy to further gouge the public at large for a greater profit margin. This is honesty people.Raw and angry sounding, this was the locomotive coming at you full force for the absolute love of their fans.A true gem of an album,Loco Live oughta please even the most jaded and arrogant among you. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Well...
I guess any punk band that goes acoustic nowadays has my respect. I love punk-when it's genuine. The beef I have with today's punk (it's okay, really) is that it's downweighted by all mainstream sounds and expectations from major lables that it can be. The result? Millions of cookie cutter pop-punk lovesick junkie bands. It's good, but after the 5th time around, it gets a bit stolid.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as it looks
Samhain was much less poppy then the Misfits were, which is bad. The songs (such as I am Misery) have amazing beginings, but turn into crap. The comic is amazing but short, the booklets ok and the video isnt the best. The cds are kinda good (November Coming-Fire and Live are good) but the rest of the stuff is rubbish. Danzigs still the man and so is Damien. Misfits boxset is much better

5-0 out of 5 stars Danzig as I like to remember him
With some of the crap Danzig has put out in recent years, it was of great comfort to listen to his older more melodic material. This box set reminds me of why I got the Misfit/Samhain/Danzig tattoos in the first place. While Samhain was criminally neglected by the mainstream public, it's influence can be felt today in many different genres of music from Metal, Industrial and Punk. And Glenn can sure do the ballads.Who doesn't love "To Walk the Night"?My wife's first boyfriend copied the lyrics and presented them to her as his own. That's how old we are.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great collection
All together this is a great box set the video is great and so is the booklet also it comes with a cool comic. the only complaint i have is the lack of unreleased tracks such as the archangle with chimes an alternate versions ofnovembers fire, halloween 2 and some other later tracks. also the liner notes are great but i would like to see some notes from eerie von since he was there from start to finish. ... NOFX really do suck live. On CD, at least. Like most "live" albums, this one does not bring out the band's good side. They sound terrible and the cheering and screaming takes away from the music. If you're interested in hearing them live - go see a live show instead!

5-0 out of 5 stars a great live cd!

4-0 out of 5 stars another Thunders live album
There are several Johnny Thunders live albums out there. This is one he made with Walter Lure under the rubric "Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers." 5-0 out of 5 stars Johnny Thunders Live Does Not Get Any Better
The Heartbreakers just might have been the best band in the world in the late 1970's. Unfortunately, they were shunned by record companies and were never widely known. Today, they are almost forgotten. You can hear them here at their best, in front of a delirious home-town Max's Kansas City crowd. Scorching Johnny Thunders-Walter Lure guitar duels are punctuated with hilarious lewd banter. This CD release includes tracks with Jerry Nolan and a truly heartbreaking version of So Alone. Absolutely essential for the Johnny Thunders enthusiast, and a warning for the uninitiated: The Heartbreakers might change your world.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wild
This in my opinion is the best live album of Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers. Wild and intense, in the same time vulnerable and melodious, really far out. It also doesn't disturb that much, when the beginning of a song doesn't work out and they need a second start. My favorite songs are Chinese Rocks", Get Off Of The Phone", One Track Mind", Can't Keep My Eyes On You" and I Wanna Be Loved". ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars "Nostalgia is the symptom of a dying culture"---Grant Hart
I had just became a Bob Mould/Husker Du fanatic in the early-1990s and was buying up their back catalogue of stuff when this CD came out in 1994. Anything "new" from Husker Du was a BIG thing, so I snagged it as soon as it hit the record stores. This live CD was compiled from shows from 1987 when they were promoting Warehouse: Songs and Stories, their last studio release, so many of the tracks come from that album. That's OK by me, as I love that album.
5-0 out of 5 stars Please find a way to hear this album!
This band deserves so much more than they got. I really, really believe that aside from lack of big label promotion (of course!) their NAME killed 'em as a more referenced punk band. If that sounds stupid, I know from experience trying to get friends to hear them that the name is an immediate turnoff.
4-0 out of 5 stars blistering classic
This is a great introduction to Husker Du, who in a perfect world

5-0 out of 5 stars 10 stars!
i'd give this 10 stars, if i could! this was the 4th green day, well 'thing' i guess, that i bought(i acctaully found it at tower records for much cheeper then this), i'd had had AI, insomniac, and bullet in a bible before hand. it has awesome awesome awesome preformances, for ALL the songs on it, some which i greatly prefer over the studio recs. its a really wonderful line up aswell, except that at the end of FOD, billie does the 'hey-oh' thing into the crowd he does at alot of concerts, so not a terrific way to end, it makes you want more. but, really, even though it is an EP, it is still by far my favorite CD of all that i own. truely superb.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Live Ablum
I own two Green Day live ablums, "Bowling Bowling Bowling Parking Parking" and "Foot in Mouth" and this is by far the better one. It has most of Green Days earlier hits from their first ablum all the way up to Insominac. The song list is:

5-0 out of 5 stars i love live albums
this has gotta be the best samhain album. i mean misfits best is evilive, flags best is live 84... well actually that would be nervous breakdown. but thats besides the point, when it comes to early hardcore live is the way to go.

4-0 out of 5 stars Danzig fan's wet dream
If you're new to any of Glenn Danzig's music (The Misfits, Samhain, Danzig) I don't suggest this album for you, because you will not be able to fully appreciate it. However, if you're a fan of The Misfits and/or Danzig, this is a treat to own. While the recording quality is pretty bad, you won't care, because if you like the Misfits, you've learned to overlook that. So "Live: '85-'86" is basically every great Samhain song played live. It starts with a remake of the Misfits' "All Hell Breaks Loose" simply re-titled "All Hell" and ends the concert in the Samhain classic "Arch Angel". Personal favorites on this album are "The Howl", "All Murder, All Guts, All Fun", "Black Dream", "Death Comes Ripping", "Mother of Mercy", "To Walk The Night", "Halloween II", "London Dungeon", and "Arch Angel". Glenn Danzig fans from all around: buy this album, it's a rare treat.

3-0 out of 5 stars SAMHAIN: Danzig's transition period from MISFITS to DANZIG
I honestly think this is the only album worth owning from this group, for varying reasons. All instruments are played by musicians (no annoying drum machines here.) The songs don't sound so disjointed here than on the studio albums like most songs on INITIUM. You can truly justify how good a band is by hearing them in an unedited medium and they're by no means amazing. Check out the alternate versions of previosly released MISFITS songs ('Horror Buisness,' 'All Hell Breaks Loose.') Spans everything SAMHAIN except Final Descent. Plenty of MISFITS-esque punk anthemns ('All Murder...,' 'He Who Can Not Be Named,') as well as slow hard rock ('Mother of Mercy,' 'To Walk the Night.') My least favorite band associated with Glenn Danzig but this CD is palatable enough. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars More great live tracks from the Jam
This is a terrific addition to the Jam catalogue. Featuring 24 tracks recorded between 1979-1982 this is a great companion to Dig The New Breed (no songs appear on both records so I advise any fans to pick up both albums). The Jam were truly an exceptional live group and any fan will love this cd.

4-0 out of 5 stars Punks to the end...
The Jam may have evolved out of the 1976-77 British punk movement into slick studio hit-makers, but onstage they remained punks to the bitter end.Read more
