Editorial Review

Ohgr, the nouveau-industrial collaboration between Skinny Puppy's Ogre Nevik and Mark Walk, returns with the sophomore chapter of its wry, 21st century schizoid man industrial shtick. The delicious, silly pun of its title is a knowing wink to longtime fans and paranoids alike, a telling hint of just how seriously the industrial music vets may take themselves. But their music is another matter, and the Ogre/Walk duo manage to cut through the slick showbiz hoodoo of more successful contemporaries like Marilyn Manson and White Zombie, seeking no less than to tap into the rich tangled, if oft-oxidizedroots of industrial/electro rock, from Cabaret Voltaire and Throbbing Gristle to "HiLo"'s more dance-floor-friendly nods to OMD and the Silicon Teens. Punctuated with compelling digital noise, fervent beats, and deceptively soothing interludes, Ogre's processed voice haunts "JaKo" and "WaTergaTe" like a malignant computer virus. Yet there's an often playful '80s electro-pop sense at work throughout, from subtle melodic touches to the overall economy they bring to every track, even the propulsive sequencing of the instrumental "ShiTe". Enhanced CD also contains a video for the track "MaJik" Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Not ' Welt', but not bad
'SunnyPsyop' has it's moments. The tone of the album is blatantly darker than 'Welt', but I really feel that this album was rushed. That, or they literally just took un-used B-Sides from 'Welt' to make an album.
5-0 out of 5 stars Better than Welt
Welt was pretty good, but this one blows that record out of the water. It is so much more lush and varied in style. Songs like Jako and Majik are highlights. One or two may be less memorable but as a whole this proves that Ogre can hold his own ground. I dont mind one bit that he is singing, even if I did prefer his sick as hell distorted vocals that were present on earlier puppy releases. He sounds great on here and I totally recommend this to Ogre and Cevik Key fans alike. Also get Cevin Key's "The Dragon Experience." That record is also essential like SunnyPsyOp is and all Skinny Puppy albums are!

5-0 out of 5 stars If I see one more person comparing this to Skinny Puppy...
Now, to everyone going on a bitchfest about how this isn't "Skinny Puppy", GUESS WHAT?It's not!Go ahead, Read the cover. It says "oGhR!"I ABSOLUTELY ADMIRE Kevin Ogilvie for this project. That's right, folks, a project, NOT SKINNY PUPPY!That's like referring Cevin Key's side projects as Skinny Puppy.Sunnypsyop + WELT are both a breath of fresh air for the fans. This is not a permanent sound, yet a PROJECT.A VVEEERRRYY INTERESTING PROJECT. :) Take a listen... You won't be sorry. It's more than unique, DIFFERENT, upbeat and witty.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sarcastic Satirical Fun
The reason why I bought this cd was to prepare for Voltaire in concert about a month after I purchased the cd.And the only way I was able to trust it enough was through other customer reviews.Let me just say that it is fantastic if you like satirical lyrics and ballad like tunes, especially if you like the use of classical instruments.I feel as if I've been cast into some medieval concert hall.Great fun, especially if you are a fan of dark humor.

5-0 out of 5 stars Almost Inhuman...
...how Voltaire manages to capture your attention on this CD. Most of it is probably not for happy shiny people, but then I've never exactly been nominated for any Susie Sunshine awards. These songs hang around in your head and they won't go away. Voltaire is a versatile musician, able to flow from one style to another with ease. Of his three CDs that I have, this is my favorite. Buy it. If you think and you have a dark sense of humor, you will love it...

5-0 out of 5 stars So goths DO have a sense of humor
I'm glad to see I'm not the only goth out there with a sense of humor. All of this man's albums range from silly to sincere with wit and well orchestrated melodies.Songs like God Thinks and Feathery Wings show a more provocative side of Voltaire, while tunes like Headless Waltz prove that he is still hilarious and fun to dance to.This is my favorite of his three and a half albums (Banned On Vulcan maxi-EP also available) and I'm lucky enough to boast a signed copy. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Should have been the beginning of something BIG
I don't have to sit here and tell you how good these guys were, just check them out for yourself. This cd picks you up from the onset, rams you into the wall, and never lets up.Anything you get from Icon is straight ahead Rock'n'Roll without compromise.Pick this up,as well as Night of The Crime,Right Between the Eyes, and if you can find and afford it,An Even More Pefect Union.Stay away from Live Bootleg 1984 unless you just want to add it to your collection.Anyone interested in any Icon cd's can drop me a line at scpickett@sbcglobal.net

5-0 out of 5 stars Obscure 80's band that should have had MUCH more airplay
I first "heard" this band when MTV actually played a video for "On Your Feet". I thought they kind of looked like clowns, but something about the vocals and the guitar work caught my ear, so I went and bought the Album (yes, vinyl). I was wrong, man was I ever wrong. Every member of this band was about as good as it gets as far as talent is concerned. And together they made a very mighty band, on recordings and live!
5-0 out of 5 stars Very Heavy!!!
Very heavy with melody and emotion with some awesome guitar work. These guys really put alot of feel, atmosphere and emotion on this one and is one of my favorite albums of all time.

5-0 out of 5 stars the woman in every man
I got into Siouxsie just after the release of the Creatures second full length album, Boomerang, and it wasn't long before I owned everything I could get my hands on. The one thing that I found most appealing about her was her ability to transmutate into most anything she wanted to and still keep her sound so unintimidating and also palletable. Anima Animus is no exception. I feel like this is one of the most incredible electronic albums ever made, second only to the likes of albums such as Peter Gabriel's Passion or Lisa Gerrard's Duality. Each and every track unfolds into a wonderful soundscape rich with texture, and of course, accented with the voice of Siouxsie Sioux.
5-0 out of 5 stars Siouxsie + electronica = match made in heaven
Considering Siouxsie has always projected an "ice queen" image, it should come as no surprise that she would eventually find her way into the world of electronics. The results are nothing short of amazing. This CD is a must-have for any fan of electronic music.

2-0 out of 5 stars The lowest rung on the creatures ladder
The most uninspired collection of music in the creatures history.Well maybe if i was a goth/wannabe/vampire/industrial (isnt that music tired already?) fan id enjoy it.Now it's really not as bad as it sounds...it's still siouxsie so it better than anything released these days, but i was soo disappointed when i first heard it.I was so excited by erasercuts that this let me down.I was very elated when Hai was released!! There's the creatures I love (feast, boomerang and now Hai)and i cannot wait to see them next month!!!This compares (anima animus) to Superstition in the Banshees collection ...uninspired and commercial sounding, sterile and dull...and just as unlistened to by me as superstition. But hey, everybody (band) can have a downer right?Siouxsie has only been guilty of a few letdowns and even those can be pleasant compared to the majority of pop music today! ... 2-0 out of 5 stars if you were going to leave just one PM album out of your collection...
this one would be it.i give it 2 stars because i believe that there are some flashes of lyrical and sonic brilliance here, but they fade pretty quickly.i'm wondering where the wheels came off of this album during production -- the quality of the recording is great, peter's voice is amazing, but i'm confused by the patchy and irregular instumental arrangements and the lack of enthusiasm and continuity.please, may the recording contract luck be better withpeter next time... and perhaps on the next one we'll have some turkish musicians?... maybe even playing unplugged?i hope so.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's not his best.
I would love to spend pages gushing about how wonderful Peter Murphy is, why I think he's so important to music, and detailing what I think are his best works that every one should own.But no, I think I'll spare you that.Simply put, this album is not his best work. There are one or two good tracks and several mediocre tracks. If you don't already own it, buy Dust.Dust is not that old (2002), and it is a great album from start to finish.

5-0 out of 5 stars Peter forever

5-0 out of 5 stars soooo goood
The very first Damned album I ever heard back in the early 80s and it was definitely my least favorite after hearing damned damned damned, machine gun etiquette, and the black album but after all these years, I pop it in and its has to be one of the best records ever!!!essential, period!!!!!Late,Junior

3-0 out of 5 stars pretty good
This record does not live up to the hype.A bit too ambitious, it falls flat.A few catchy hooks and interesting arrangements save it from oblivion.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Damned's most balanced chapter gets restored
Well it's not been a very long since the "Strawberries" remaster was released, but this time it gets the packaging it deserves. Not only the original LP artwork has been restored but you also get the integral of the corresponding b-sides. Althought not as much as you might think since "Rat vs The Omni", "Citadel Zombies" and the Bimbo Jingle were originally just one track on the "Generals" single. And also if I may make a minor complaint... Their is typo in the track listing. I won't commit the offence of telling you what it is.

5-0 out of 5 stars A 1980s classic, but best left to Cure fans
Robert's very uncomfortable vocals on this record make it unlistenable for most people who aren't Cure fans. But, for those of us who like the band, we can appreciate how they fit the music.
1-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely love this band, absolutely hate this CD
This sounds like a constipated chicken. The first time I saw it I thought it was a collection of trashy outtakes, but no it's a weirdo's delight. I mean c'mon this is kinda for weird ("Give Me It"?).
5-0 out of 5 stars a cracker collection
i'll keep this quite simple. the top is the first album where the cure showcased the breadth of what they can do, what they had already done, and what was to come. it is one of those rare albums that remains brilliant from start to finish. this album is truly the cure's defining moment and definately the one to be owned by music lovers committed to building a cracker collection of recordings. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Fantastic!
I first bought this on an LP in about 1982, when I was 12 years old, at 'Zeds Records' in the middle of long beach, along with a 45 featuring 'Modern Warfare'. I have no idea what happened to my album, but still have the 'Modern Warfare' single. While playing this CD I realised the original album contained songs by 'Bad Religion', or am I mistaken? The music on this CD is absolutely great, and I was completely stoked to stumble upon this great, unique relic, as I had forgotten this album existed. I have many memories that come up listening to it, like getting arrested at an old 'Alpha Beta' grocery store off Redondo street in Long Beach, shoplifting liquor, to drink while watching 'Secret Hate' play a backyard party. Anyways, my opinion boils down to this:The bands on this cd are fantastic, unique, buy it, you will not be dissapointed! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Unique and enjoyable recording
This is one of my favorite Rasputina albums. The recording quality is top notch and it's not just the band playing the same songs that you hear on the studio albums. They've got some very amusing exchanges with the crowd and intro to most of the songs.
4-0 out of 5 stars Hey! This has been done before!
Rasputina is great and unique; being a cellist myself they really mean a lot to me. I am also a music lover and really like 'gothic' stuff(gothic cello music ~perfect~)... but I have been getting into psychedelic/acid folk rock too...Well what does that have to do with anything? I just listened to 'Blind Man' by Curved Air from their album Air Conditioning and I really thought it was Rasputina! The exact same vocal style, strings, and very similar melodies! I can't believe this was done 35 years ago! ... Rasputina kinda had problems in their career trying to find a place to 'fit in' and decided to go with the gothy thing touring with Marilyn Manson. Now their fans are also listening to music like Marilyn Manson, Switchblade Symphony and other Cleopatra Records stuff(based on Amazon.com similar searches)...It just makes me wonder if they toured under a more relevant folk-rock outfit(maybe with Coldplay or Lucinda Williams instead of Manson) would they still have fans that listen to gothic music? Heck No! Would they be more popular? Yes!...So back to what I was gonna say. If you find that Rasputina's music really stands out and you want something more similar in sound do a search for acid/psychedelic folk rock bands of the 60's 70's...stuff like Comus and Curved Air. Similarities will blow you away.

5-0 out of 5 stars Original Goth?
Goth was barely a genre when this band started playing the hard chord rock and roll they have become known for. To this day, Fields of the Nephilim are one of only a few bands playing this tough brand of Goth music(The Cult, Sisters of Mercy). Long, Black, Rider Jackets, Boots, and Cowboy hats exemplify what old school Goth was, and still is. Forget about those baggy hip hop styled bondage pants, and weenie club kid clothes. This is serious rock and roll for serious killers. Don't know what I mean? How about sitting up in a hatch behind a Machine Gun listening to Fields of the Nephilim as Sadaam's best give you a run, and you become The Lord of Scunion as you lay Holy Hell upon their heads! Rock and Roll!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Why did they change the album?
Warning, this CD version of Dawnrazor omits "Blue Water," which was on the original album. The Neph don't seem to have much respect for that song, but to me it was one of the highlights of their body of work. This CD includes some early cuts that were not on the original album, in my view for good reason. They sound like the less inspired early stuff you can hear compiled on the Laura CD.Still, Dawnrazor comes through as the work where Fields of the Nephilim left the Sisters of Mercy in their self-affected dust. This is not only original stuff but also powerful, something the Sisters rarely achieved.Dawnrazor fits into a four-disc Nephilim rotation (with The Nephilim, Elizium and Earth Inferno) that will reward the listener for many years.

5-0 out of 5 stars Flour Power
This cd should be a mandatory listen for all these "neo-goths" that think that Goth music and culture is all about techno and S&M. This is raw, in your face, Gothic Rock & Roll. The Nephilim still seem to be one of a kind. No other band has used their Spaghetti Western influenced image or sound. The dusty, decaying, floury Cowboy outfits, the slide guitar and slight twang, and those sore throat growls still sound completely fresh today. And what other band has taken on the task of covering an Ennio Morricone theme as they did with Harmonica Man? (Taken from Once Apon A Time In The West) Sure there are a FEW similarities to the Sisters but to say that this is a rip off is simply too narrow minded (not to mention inaccurate) for me to stomach. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Live Cure - No Overdubs Used Or Needed!
The liner notes proudly proclaim that no overdubs were used on this recording. Having seen the Cure in concert, I know how powerful they are live, so I have no doubt this statement is true. These songs taken from 4 different shows in May of '84 show off the Cure with a terrific line up that wasn't around for too long (even by Cure standards). M.V.P. Robert Smith is in fine form and his guitar is often massive, sometimes employing an effect that makes it sound like a jet taking off. Drummer Andy Anderson favors heavy-hitting beats and keeps everything very up tempo. Founding member Lol Tolhurst's role on keyboards, questionable as always, seems to be largely relegated to elongated notes, although they are often useful and effective. Multi-instrumentalist Porl Thompson rejoins the fold here, a super-talented guy who would go on to spend many years with the Cure. Abandoning his previous role as a control room wizard, Phil Thornally capably rounds out the quintet on bass.
5-0 out of 5 stars The best live album by The Cure
This is the best of the live albums by The Cure. This band has had so many line-up changes and this was one of their most interesting line-ups.Here they sound like a raw post-punk band. Even "The Walk", a normally upbeat song, sounds dark, moody and goth.A great era of The Cure captured live. I only wish there were more tracks on here!

5-0 out of 5 stars Original Vinyl Release Has Run-Off Groove Phrases
This is definitely one of their better live recordings. The sound is crisp and the treatment of each song is simple but careful. One note of interest: in this version of "10:15 Saturday Night," an odd pausein the first line suggests that something might have caught Mr. Smith'sattention...I guess you'll just have to purchase it and listen to see whatI mean! The only version of Concert - The Cure Live I currently have is oneof the 1984 UK 12" vinyl pressings (fixh10).The track listing is thesame as the Swedish version advertised on this site, at least in regards totitles and track order. One of the great things about the format/versionI have is that the record has phrases in the run-off grooves.Side Onesays, "PLAY ME LOUD," and Side Two says, "EAT ME TOO." (A lot of earlier Cure and special Smith project vinyl pressings havesimialr quirky run-off groove phrases.) All in all, this is a great liverecording, and I would recommend any version or format of this album...andthere are quite a few of them out there...you just have to look for them. When you get it, PLAY IT LOUD. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent album, not-so-excellent re-issue
I agree with the other reviewers comments re. the album's merit as a Goth/neo-psychedlic classic AND that the sound quality on this has issues. There is NO excuse for drop-outs, and any check of the pressing master should have revealed them. I will take this opportunity, though, to mention that while uniform volume levels are welcome, this is not always possible, especially when the source material comes from different sessions or even different eras, like on Neil Young's Decade, which had similar complaints. To manipulate the overall volume level of a track either up or down often involves running it through additional compression and/or limiting. This process definitely can affect the sound quality --by reducing dynamics, or bringing certain elements to the fore, and definitely by changing the balance of the various elements in the original mix-- if pushed too far. This can be subtle, but it is a form of change from the original, which sometimes isn't worth the volume level fix.

4-0 out of 5 stars The definitive Banshees album, for better or worse. A- album, C- remastering
For many fans of Siouxsie and the Banshees, 'JuJu' is their favorite album. It seems to embody the spirit of the dark, gothic style the band is best known for. Many of the songs are timeless classics, though one particular fan favorite takes the Goth intentions a bit over the top.
4-0 out of 5 stars Favorite
JuJu is my 2nd favorite album by Siouxsie & The Banshees & the remastered sound is fantastic! The extra tracks on this edition are great (Fireworks is different from the Twice Upon A Time version & superior in my opinion). One of the remixes was featured on the 2 disc Best Of but it sounds better on here. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A must and a classic
This was the first Goth compilation I ever bought - I was at a little used record place in Boston and was drawn to it. I've used it for my own compilations and as a teaching tool to learn about the Dark at Heart. Excellent choice.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent compilation
Im probably considered a newbie to Goth and Darkwave, but I have found this compilation to have some really interesting and good tracks from a variety of artists. Artists I have not been exposed to yet.CD 3 is my favorite with many songs I liked. I recommend this release

4-0 out of 5 stars A good starter set, not for every fledgling batling.
This set was one of the first "Gothic" CD sets that I purchased, and I truly believe that it's an excellent sort of sampler to the different types of music that make up the Gothic music genre. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars We Are always searching for new bands
And I just happened to fall on a great one! This band has a lot of potential and lost sof talents. They are in the vein of My Chemical Romance (but better) and Thrice (but not as good). I thought the doube vocals similar to Lacuna Coil's where a man and a woman are singing are very effective since they can reach a high set of notes. The music is slightly progressive, a bit goth, and quite emo, this is against all expectations a very good mix! The one thing I found annoying though, were the frequent blanks with weird music in it, although these are becoming more common and fit very well in some music, this band sometimes overdoes it.
1-0 out of 5 stars Why parts of this album are good
I listened to some of the songs off this album.Especially in Lady Madeline, I found some of the lyrics good and the rest just emo drivel--and bad emo drivel at that.So I did a search online for some of the lines from Lady M and wouldn't you know, I came upon a website by a poet named Jason Paul Fox.He wrote most of his poetry 15-20 years ago, when many of the members of IAG were very young children at best.I looked through the album to find Mr Fox credited, but his name appears nowhere. So, kiddies, now you know where they came up with such great poetry.Sorry to burst your bubble.

5-0 out of 5 stars This CD is amazing!
Alright, for those of you who say "go listen to MCR", what are you thinking?!?!This band has SO much more originality, much better vocals, we don't need any whiney Gerard Way here, the guitars are much more innovative, the strings and piano not only back up the song but add their own style. They are musical geniuses, everything fits together perfectly, to create an amazing sound!Goth rock/screamo/punk whatever you want to call it, it's amazing, and definetly worth whatever you pay for it.I Am Ghost is an amazing band, and wonderful people as well. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars "Haunting" is a good word for it
I find my favorite tracks are Dido, Secret Tear, and Willow, though I also like Pace Pace and other tracks. While looking for the lyrics for Dido, preferably in English, I tripped over Amazon's listing and these reviews.I WILL be going out to find Aria 2 and 3 right after work, because if 2 is even better than 1, I'd better not be doing anything else of importance when I listen to it.This first album is really great stuff, and now I know to look for more by Paul Schwartz.I can't get technical about the music, as I don't have that kind of expertise, but I can agree that these tracks are generally relaxing, and some of them REALLY speak to me.It would be nice if I understood what they were SAYING, so I'll continue my search for lyrics. :-D

4-0 out of 5 stars Traditional meets Modern
Like every project composer Paul Schwartz takes on he bring it to life and this album is simply breathtaking! This may not be his best work ever but 'Aria' is his debut into the world of classical crossover and the material here shows great potential but with much room for improvement, and his growth as an artist has become apparent with every release thereafter. The sublime music he creates becomes more divine with each new endeavor and he's proven himself worthy of my attention time and time again, becoming a musician I deeply respect. His arrangements overtake me, filling me with the irrefutable beauty he provokes, causing my senses to soar as I close my eyes and allow the glorious sounds to seep in and release me into a momentary state of bliss. 4-0 out of 5 stars Breathtakingly beautiful
I recently got into Paul Schwartz's music in the past few months, beginning with "State of Grace". I absolutely loved that album, not to mention the concept of fusing classical and pop music together. The results simply takes my breath away. I moved on to "Earthbound", Paul's latest album which is another winner in my book. I didn't realize up until recently that I had already heard Paul Schwartz's work as a composer with his album "Aria". I kinda put that cd aside and allowed for other music to take hold of me in recent months. So I dug around in my massive cd collection and found my copy of "Aria" which I had purchased used at my favorite cd store. As I am listening to "Aria" for the first time in months, I immediately recognize Paul's work on this particular album. I can't really pinpoint my finger on Paul's sound but I definitely hear it here. On "Aria", the music is more classical with operatic vocals than what I'm used to hearing on "State of Grace" and "Earthbound" which are heavily influenced by pop music as well as classical music. The vocals are provided by Rebecca Luker and Michelle Ivey as opposed to Lisbeth Scott like on "State of Grace" and "Earthbound". And of course, Paul's choice in vocalists is impeccable. Both Rebecca and Michelle have absolutely stunning vocals. Musically, "Aria" is not my favorite Paul Schwartz album but it is still very good nonetheless. I jus prefer "State of Grace" and "Earthbound". I however enjoyed "Secret Tear", "Willow" and "Habenara" a lot. I am definitely a fan of Paul Schwartz's music and look forward to hearing more from him. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars best 4.50 i've ever spent
i bought this cd because i used to have them all back in the day.lately i've had motorcycle in my head.listened to it today (it's been at least ten years since i last) and i enjoyed the whole albumn.the music is their own, not trying to impress anybody, i dig it.so cheap you can't go wrong.

3-0 out of 5 stars some good moments
foregoing Bauhaus's spooky dark rock, Love And Rockets created a glammy street rock goth with some Elvis worship and a hint of psychadelia. there's a delicious buzzing drone throughout these songs that give it a nice slippery trashy appeal. as a whole, this album is skittery and off balance, but it contains some great little singles like "No Big Deal", "Motorcycle", and the surprise hitof "So Alive."

3-0 out of 5 stars I love "Love & Rockets".
This self titled release from them, though it may have been their best selling, is not their best album. However it's still really good of course, just not as excellent as what came before it. It's still the best soundtrack for biker guys that are cooler than normal biker guys, and nice cover too. It does include their biggest hit "So Alive", and who doesn't like that one. Other sweet tracks are "No Big Deal", the dreamy "Purest Blue", "Motorcycle", and the last two songs, which would fit well on their "Earth Sun Moon" album. In many ways this is as good as any other release from them, and it's a must for fans. Newcomers might just want the "Best Of". ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My favourite Damned album
As much as I love Machine Gun Etiquette, for me, this is their best album. History of the World pt. 1 is one of the best songs on the album, alongside the eccentric 13th Floor Vendetta and seventeen minute long masterpiece Curtain Call, but the whole album is fantastic, and it's probably one of The Damned's most varied album, going from punk to pop to goth to psychedelia and back to punk again.
4-0 out of 5 stars classic from the real punk days
This is real PUNK music that killed off the dinasour bands and gave rock another identity that was to change the way rock was perceived in the future.Another dimension spawned from the great Iggy & The Stooges
5-0 out of 5 stars Another hit or miss?
Just kidding right? There are no misses here, in my humble opinion this is the second of four albums that the mighty Damned released in a row during their salad days. Each of these albums is crucially essential - Machine Gun Etiquette, Black Album, Strawberries, & the much underrated Phatasmagoria (sans Captain). However, my personal fave (ever so slightly has always been the 'Black' album, although maybe the next time I spin Strawberries that will be my favorite.Actually the 'Black' album was my first Damned record purchased circa 1985 at a Discomat, if you can believe that...so if you are a fan and do not have one of the aforementioned albums, than shame on you!.Getting back to the tunes - I find the album to be truly legendary because it has all the elements a true great rock record should have, a varied set of songs that are all at a minimun very good, BUT it has to have a few (more than two) flat out stone-cold classics, in this case they are 'Blackout, Dr. Jeckyl/Mr. Hyde, Silly Kids Games(Captain), History of the World' (still gives me the chills).the other tunes rock with abandon, 'Drinking..., Hit or Miss,Lively Arts, Therapy and you can skip the bloated Curtain Call (if you want).Just a remarkable album - by one of the greatest bands ever. And they are still making qualtiy music in their latest incarnation, 'Grave Disorder' is pretty good, but again get those four mentioned - there are very few aural equivalents. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Dust, or Dud?
"Dust" is an appropriate name for this Peter Murphy album because that is what it has been collecting since I bought it.C'mon! This is the same guy that brought us Bauhaus and such classic albums as "Love Hysteria" and "Cascade"?This sounds more like background music you hear at a Middle Eastern cocktail party.Unimpressive and thoroughly disappointing.

4-0 out of 5 stars Golden Dust
I've been a Peter Murphy fan on and off since the Bauhaus days. One of my favorite albums of all time was Love Hysteria. In fact, to date, it's still a perfect, smart-pop album, even if it sounds just a little dated nearly 20 years later.
2-0 out of 5 stars Its Hard to Listen To...
I've been a Bauhaus - Murphy - Love& Rockets - David J. - Daniel Ash fan for a long time, Murphy being my favorite of the group. However, this is the worst album out of the lot.Maybe my aesthetic sensibilities are too narrow to see the brillance other reviewers see - but I found the album, despite its experimental nature, a meandering bore. With difficulty, I've gotten through it several times and not a single track attracts me.While I don't want to see Peter making the same album every couple of years - the leap from Cascade to Dust was too great for me.Other than his characteristic vocals, there was nothing to remind me that this was the "Murphy Music" that I cherish in Love Hysteria, Deep and, to a lesser extent, Holy Smoke and Cascade.I can't even recommend it to "hard core" Murphy fans. ...
