5-0 out of 5 stars Classic Album
Whenever I listen to this album, i cant stop! orgy is one of my favorite bands.
5-0 out of 5 stars "Loving you is strange"
Okay, so maybe 5 stars is a bit much because there are a few skip over tracks (Dizzy is just plain awful) but the good ones, like "STITCHES" and "GENDER" are so good they make "DIZZY" a forgivable mess. After hearing "BLUE MONDAY" on the radio I ran out and bought the single...by the way, for the record, you need to by each single put out by this band because the remixes of these songs are at times even better than the originals...anyways so after buying the single I then ran out to buy the album because I couldn't get enough."STITCHES" is a standout and rightfully so...it's catchy and dark and just perfect techno-glam-rock... "DISSENTION" is one of the best songs ever...although Orgy has a problem with repeating offensive lyrics (I'm floored this doesn't wear a PA label) and so the repeating of "don't waste my f'ing time" was kinda lame...BUT IT'S FORGIVABLE!"FIEND" and "SOCIAL ENEMIES" are freaking killer tracks, awsome killer tracks and "REIVAL" feat. Jon of KoRn is a MUST LISTEN TO track!I'm a big fan of "FETISHA" as well and think that Jay Gordon has a great voice, perfect for this type of music.I wish this band would have stuck to their guns, but sadly their latest efforts have lacked all originality and quite frankly don't deliver...stick to Candy@$$...it's as good as it gets!

5-0 out of 5 stars 5 stars definitly!
I really love this album. I had first heard of orgy when they were on the family values tour with korn. after downloaded a few of their songs onto my comp. i decided to buy their album "candyass" i HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ALBUM. I listened to this album so much i think i wore it out.

This new release from Korn,no I mean Limp Noodle-wait sorry Staind? Oh yeah Static something or another. Attention all ADD kids! Rush right out and waste 15 bucks on this unoriginal formulaic BOLOGNA!!!! POO POO! hey isnt nu-metal dead yet? Get Children of Bodom or Chimaera or Megadeth or Opeth or even Machine Head and use this disc for a frisbee. Im still pissed I actually bought it.

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite Static-X album. 5 stars all the way!!!
I absolutely love every track on this album. Theres more a more Industrial and dark sound to this album than the previous Machine album. Shadow Zone also contains many memories of good times for me.

1-0 out of 5 stars nothing "Great" about it
If you want Lords of Acid's greatest hits, just save yourself tons of $ and simply buy the album Voodoo U as it is an awesome album, and their ONLY good work.
3-0 out of 5 stars Unique
I listen to a community college radio station that has no set format. KEPC [Colorado Springs]plays a mixture of music. One song I heard recently was from Lords of Acid. So I ordered the CD. Very unique music. Not Carpenters, Basa, or Enya. But not Def Leppard either.

4-0 out of 5 stars music thats right to the piont
I love very sexual music with kind of a techo feel.A friend of mine awhile back showed me the music video to "Pussy." And I never could forget the song. I looked for the CD, but seemed not to be able to get it in stores. I guess its just too sexual for them. But thats good, cause that means I want to hear it.

5-0 out of 5 stars It is as good as they say.
From the first song, this album explodes. I'm not a live album fan either, but this one is an exception. As an old time fan I also like the very nice blend of both old and new songs , both fast and slow songs. It is very well done. Too bad every album cannot be as good.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!!
Being just about the biggest NIN fan in the area that I live in, I own both the DVD AND the CD version of And All That Could've Been. As I said in my review for the DVD, Trent's songs are a lot better performed lie. Terrible Lie has a lot more energy live than it did on Pretty Hate Machine (don't get me wrong, the original is great, but the live version is even better), as do Sin and Head Like A Hole. There's just something about how raw and powerful Trent's voice is that makes NIN's concert's spectacular. The audience doesn't drown out the music, which is always good to know; and they know when to keep quiet during softer and more melodic songs like The Great Below, The Mark Has Been Made, The Frail, The Day The World Went Away, and Hurt. Trent also extends a few of the songs, like Sin, March of the Pigs, Starf***ers Inc, and more. He also adds a few extra words in songs, like in The Wretched where Trent chants "there is a place... in the back of my mind... where I used to try... try" during the interlude with the jumpy keyboard.

4-0 out of 5 stars Right Now!
Good title of the EP here, that's for sure. 9 tracks? I think they could have just had an entire remix album with bonus tracks, or, just make a new album altogether. I really liked the cover art for Hau Ruck, I can't say the same for this one, it's rather bland. A friend of mine pre-ordered with the T-shirt, I didn't really want to be wearing a Ruck Zuck T-shirt, the Adios or Drug Against War shirts looked much better. Anyway, for anyone who pre-ordered direct from KMFDM store, it wasn't exactly the best of deals, considering they're selling it here for more or less the same on amazon.
5-0 out of 5 stars KMFDM is ready to blow
I have been a KMFDM for the past several years now. Over the years the band has put out some good albums and some mediocre albums. I wasn't too impressed with "WWIII" so I wasn't sure whether to get their follow up "Hau Ruck" but eventually I did and loved it. When I heard that the band was going back into the studio to remix a few tracks off "Hau Ruck", I knew it was going to be something special. I was right. "Ruck Zuck" proved to be something special.
5-0 out of 5 stars going out on a limb. this is BETTER than hau ruck
with the latest kmfdm entry "hau ruck" i felt severly let down and grew bored with it faster than any other kmfdm music. when i heard a remix ep entitled "ruck zuck" was coming out, i wasnt too surprised, but i heard some samples of this album and it really made me fall in love with it.i agree with the previous reviewer who stated something about "the return of the ultra heavy beat."that is exactly what hau ruck lacked. this album is less metal and more creative heavy beat. where it lacks in songs, it makes up for in sweetness. you get 40 some minutes of pure ultra heavy beat reminiscent of symbols days..okay, there is one spoken word track at the end. if you were severly disappointed with hau ruck, this album is highly recommended. do not fear it because the remix songs are from hau ruck. kmfdm proves that they can make average songs really great when they please. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but...
After the group "Miranda Sex Garden" had left Mute, finding themselves deprived of a record label and without too many favourable prospects for future activity, singer and composer Katharine Blake decided to found in 1996, along with medieval instrumentalist Dorothy Carter, a kind of sideline project with the prosaic name of "The Mediaeval Baebes". This was a female assemblage of singers (most of them friends and acquaintances of Blake) devoted to bring up to date the texts and rhythms of the medieval era in an uninhibited and light-hearted way.
2-0 out of 5 stars Lovely music, but poor cd product
After hearing a song of the Mediaeval Baebes on radio I wanted to hear more. I was not disappointed.

Here's where the trippier directions of the electronic movement run smack into its Sturm-und-Drang industrial heritage. Trent Reznor's peak achievement through 1997 is reshaped five times over with profoundly weighty beats, dub textures, and trance soundscapes. The Orb's mix, which makes Reznor sound like he's drowning in his bathtub, is a bit silly, but otherwise this is fascinating stuff. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars the perfect single
One of my personal favorite halos! I think some of the haters have their collective heads up their butts when they say this and fixed are too weird. Come on!! Get out of your parents dank and dingy basements and live!! Imitation is the greatest form of flattery.

4-0 out of 5 stars Hypnotic and enjoyable.
The Perfect Drug remixes are likely to throw off most un- and under-informed purchasers, who (as I have heard numerous times) were expecting something much more faithful the original version of the song that first appeared on the Lost Highway Soundtrack. That is not to say that the CD isn't good; far from it, it's quite innovative and fun to listen to. But like other NIN remixes (think Fixed or particular songs like "Piggy (Nothing Can Stop Me Now)"), The Perfect Drug goes far away from the original drum-and-bass recording of "The Perfect Drug" and opts for a much more rave-friendly, house electronica-inspired sound. Each track is drawn from a different artist, offering a diverse array of sounds that all tie in to a similar theme of the hypnotic electronic. I personally think that Meat Beat Manifesto's mix of the song is brilliant--perhaps the very best on the CD--but each track is worth several listens, although some take more patience than others depending on your stylistic preferences (I actually had the hardest time with the Nine Inch Nails version, but I've come to accept it).
1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of money!
This cd is another dissapointment, just like Fixed.

5-0 out of 5 stars The ultimate collection for all the Ebbheads out there...
I first heard of Nitzer Ebb (is it nit-zer or night-zer ebb?) waaaaay back in '89 as a senior in high school (yes, I'm that old).I was introduced to them by a now-defunct show called VideoSpin on PBS.VideoSpin was playing a video from them called "Hearts And Minds".The video was frenetic and fast-paced with Bon Harris banging away on the drums and Doug McCarthy singing and looking his fiercest as the camera zoomed in and out on him.Fast and furious beats too!At the time, I was like, "Wow, these guys are interesting."
5-0 out of 5 stars Perfection
I don't know what all the little Johnny Come Latelys are doing here, trying to find fault with this collection.I remember when trying to track down NE releases on vinyl was hard enough, and when I wore enough snap, crackles and pops in my vinyl, and still listened to it in all its glory in my Bundeswehr bdu's.Seeing NE live over and over, and still a fan to this day.Now we get this offering and these people find fault?Ridiculous.
4-0 out of 5 stars A great release, but, I have a few criticisms
Even though I would have much preferred this release strictly contain remixes and rarities, this is still a great release and pretty much a must have for any fan of Nitzer Ebb (there are certain rarities on here that make that the case). If you don't have any of NE's albums then you'll probably get the most out of it. If you do have the albums, then you'll get less out of it considering a large number of the tracks on disc 1 are the album versions. Note, some of the songs such as Shame are not the album version. In this case it's the Radiomix even though it's not labelled as such.

Tones On Tail was a real cool discovery for me. It is dark, clever pop with just the right dose of quirkiness tossed in for good measure. I liked this music a lot in the early 80's and I still enjoy it today.

5-0 out of 5 stars A lost and found classic
I remember two things about the movie "Sliver": One--it was one of the stupidest movies I'd ever seen, and two--that the soundtrack was so good it was ALMOST worth watching the whole film just to listen to the tunes contained herein.
4-0 out of 5 stars 10 Year Old Soundtrack That Still Sizzles...
Released in '93 while the techno rage was still emerging or going strong some tracks will sound dated...Others still hold their own ground pretty good.UB-40's take on an Elvis classic was blasphemy to die-hard Elvis fans. Plus, the fact it was a video played to death on MTV didn't help matters. But, leave it to UB-40 to give it their special spin with their electronic reggae and horn treatment and make it their own (remember Red, Red Wine?!...the old Neil Diamond classic).Read more

SHOW is just a cash-in on the pop hits that have been played too many times. PARIS is a fantastic live CD that shows The Cure to be brave enough to release dark songs that are much less well-known. I'm especially pleased with the inclusion of "Dressing Up" from THE TOP. Always a nice song, it's even better live, and no one seems to have ever heard of it, which is a shame.
5-0 out of 5 stars This along with Show makes for a fine live experience
I had Show for years and really liked it but kept reading reviews that talked about the superiority of Paris.I ordered a used copy from amazon and found the reviews to be true.Show is still highly recommended but if you're a big fan of the group you'll also want to get Paris.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sure, I'll give it 4...
Futureperfect is a mixed bag of really cool and not-so-really cool ebm/future-pop tunes. But the really cool tunes make it hard not to buy, and out-number the not so cool. Generally, there are either slow ambient tracks, or dancy fast-paced tracks...there is one or two in-between. Most tracks have a trancy melodic synth lead that hooks you in. I think if the vocalist could learn a few more notes in the musical scale, vnv just might be one of my favorite bands...but unfortunately, he only knows about 3 or 4. This is fairly good tho, I fence-walk on recommending this to any synth/ebm critic.

5-0 out of 5 stars timeless sophistocation and emotional ressonance
i absolutely love this group. and this album. the lyrics are amazing. tinged with every conceivable emotion and weaving an endless and often devasting tapestry so wrought with the debilitating anguish of lonliness and the strong yet paradoxically volitile grasp on hope and redemption that it becomes poetry, pure and unfettered. the music is equally strong and versatile, the beats are engaging and seem to remain, dancing in the mind long after a song ends. listening to futureperfect, i often feel like a voyeur, gaping into the deepest recesses of the human spirit-- its vulnerability, couragousness, acceptance of the inevitability of cruel, mundane reality while clinging with desparate hope to the triumph of a spiritual awakening. their entire discography is shakespeare set to music--the exploration of nearly every facet of human nature and the human condition as a spiritual and psychological whole. this album is a chapter which probes most intensely at the dichotmoies of hope and despair, aspiration and acquiessance, individual and collective, and above all, the inescapable earning for and failure to realize LOVE.

    5-0 out of 5 stars Beeston/Miller Powerhouse!
This is an excellent mix session between Jay Miller and Julian Beeston, blending a great combination of old skool Industrial/rivethead and gothic dance classics with new skool EBM rhythms.
5-0 out of 5 stars If you like techno/electronica
You will love this album. The first thing you should know is that it is *not* a godhead album. Jason Miller from godhead mixed these songs, along with someone else (I can't remember who). I bought this because it had three godhead songs on it. If you aren't a fan of techno or electronica, do not buy this album, because you will not like it. If you enjoy electronic music, this is an awesome album. all the songs flow together really well, and it would be really fun to dance to or whatnot. All of the songs are really catchy, and it's just really fun to listen to. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Dunno why everyone's so down on this one
I think Gravity Kills gets unfairly dumped on just because they happened to get famous after NIN and Skinny Puppy.Quite frankly, I don't know what it is you wouldn't like about this CD if you liked all those other ones.OK, so it's not the most original thing on the planet, but so what? It's fun to listen to, and that's honestly all I ask.Maybe others demand some kind of earth-shattering experince, but I think that's just being unreasonable.
1-0 out of 5 stars Few FEW catchy parts, but mostly generic...
I'm finding it hard to believe that this received a 4.5 cumulative review. Now I generally love this kind of music;I am a huge NIN, Skinny Puppy, and somewhat of a KMFDM and Stabbing Westward fan. This is just so lifeless, and by-the-numbers though and you really can tell listening to it.Take the lyrics for "Guilty" for instance (one of the higher points of the album)."1 and 1 and 1 make three.1 and 1 why can't you see.Im killing you, you're killing me"Don't kill me if those aren't the exact lyrics but whatever, just generic uninteresting stuff. There's a reason you can buy this used for what was it....$1.94?OH and you can get there follow up (i think it was the follow up) "Perversion" for one cent!!Yes that's right one f**king cent. There's a little guilty pleasure to be found on here with (i didn't mean to do that) "Guilty" and "Enough" almost shows some promise. Everything else is predictable garbage with the same disco beat to all of it.I don't like being harsh on CDs I own, since I did buy the thing after all, and I did try to give it a fair chance. Some deserve it though.I'll sell you my copy for a quarter if you want it.
5-0 out of 5 stars their best work!
I bought all three albums from here because i saved a bunch of money and I've been meaning to get their cd's for years.Their first is my favorite but they are all good. The first one is so innovative for its time 96 I think. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good mastering but...
I continuously get irritated with folks like Beggar's Banquet for releasing compilations with single mixes or dorky updated versions of songs. When I buy a greatest hits collection, I want to hear the original mixes as they were released on the original album. Also, where's 'All in My Mind' from Express on this supposed 'Best of'?

3-0 out of 5 stars 5 star band, gets a 3 star "best of" collection....
Love and Rockets is one of my favorites from the 80's.L&R made some of the most 'atmospheric' music from the 80's that really set them apart from the synth-pop and power-pop groups from that era.If 80's music were a schoolyard, you would probably find L&R hanging around with the likes of Joy Division, Jesus & Mary Chain, Echo & the Bunnymen, and of course Bauhaus.Or they would probably be in a corner all to themselves. The point is, L&R made some of THE best darker, gothic sounding, moody, ambient, depressing, uplifting, sinister, sensual, quirky, cool, and hip 'alternative' music...EVER.If you ever want to experience being in a drugged out, dream-like, audio-sensory high, look no further than this group. This collection, while acceptable at 15 songs and around $10, is sorely missing this aspect though. Here's my version of what their 'best of' should be; or at least, the songs that will put you in that special (drug-free) 'high'.
5-0 out of 5 stars A great band
Love and Rockets was a great band and this is a good collection of some of their songs. They have many other great songs though too. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars I too love Jezebel.
The only tracks I really knew before I got this collection was the hit "Desire (come and get it)", and the two from the "Kiss Of Life" album. After numerous listens, I'm quite impressed, and the whole disc is consistently good. To my ears, they're similar to The Cult or Love & Rockets, and are a rough mix of pop/goth/rock. The earlier material here like "Bruises" is definitely more moody, yet enjoyable, while the later stuff like "Jealous" is really going for the hook-filled alt-rock sound. Both eras are great though. I'm glad "Voodoo Dollies" is in chronological order, and my current favorite songs are "Stephen", "Sweetest Thing", "Motion Of Love", and "Break The Chain". All equally strong. The last track "Who Wants To Go To Heaven?" is a nice almost sing-a-long, and a great way to end the disc. In short, if you like any of the above mentioned bands or genres, you should love Gene Loves Jezebel. Nice written history and photos as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Jump-in Point to GLJ
GLJ is yet another example an excellent 80's post-punk band being rediscovered, though perhaps not to the extent deserved. If you've never heard them then this is probably the best place to start as it covers all of their different sounds pretty evenly. All of the songs are presented more or less chronologically and depending on your tastes you'll either gravitate toward the beginning, middle or end of the collection. Goths tend to like the 1st 2 albums which are represnted on here by the 1st 6 songs; "Bruises" is one of my favorite GLJ songs. The middle marks the transition period when they, and nearly every alternative act at the time, were shifting from the darker early sound to a more rock-oriented concept. "Heartache" and "Desire" were alt radio smashes at the time and made a name for the band. Then came the slightly harder rock feel of the songs from 'House of Dolls', tacks 11-13. The last stage of the album represents an attempt to go mainstream with "Jealous" and "Kiss of Life"... I think this stage stinks but it was fairly popular.
4-0 out of 5 stars Come and get it
I had to replace my old cassettes, this album had all songs I like on it.Memorable "Desire (come and get it) was my favorite and the reason why I got interested in that band.Second favorite "Upstairs" has a nice bass loop.Third would be "Beyound doubt"."Influenza" is a cute percussion song with mostly only xylophone and keyboard. "Heartache", "Kiss of life", "Kiss of life", "Break the chain" and "Bruise" are nice songs.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A great album, a massive soundtrack
I was a big fan of Spawn before I got to be a big fan of music. When I found the soundtrack in a garage sale, I jumped on it and had listen it almost a thousand times!! ...When I realized I had a special one: instead of "For whom the bells tolls" of Metalica on track 6, I have "This is not a dream" from Apollo 440 and Morphine, and I must admit it's my personal favorite track on the album!! I'm glad I didn't bought the American version.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Lost Art of Great Soundtracks!!
Spawn is by far, along with the original Batman starring Michael Keaton, the best comic book remake movie ever. Sadly underplayed, especially to the recent flood of sub-par remakes. Well, not only was the magic and mayhem captured forever on film, the soundtrack played a huge roll in the movie as well, thus making it a vital part of the movie that sadly, now, has seemed to become a forgotten craft: That is of course, the lost art of producing a Great movie soundtrack. Showcasing some of the best and most cutting edge artists of that era, which may have not been very long ago, but nevertheless was a significant time. A time of change within the rock community. A precursor to what would be the short life of Nu-Metal and the rebirth of straight up Rock and Roll, which seemed to split fans right down the middle, and all different ways at that. A cool time and a cool change that was long overdue in the music world. although this is one soundtrack that is definitely dated, it is still a much appreciated and a more often than not listened to addition to my collection. Anyone who loves the movie needs this soundtrack, not to mention anyone who just loves music of the heavier sort, this is an awesome soundtrack.

4-0 out of 5 stars Classic fusion of genra's
This soundtrack knows what it needs to be and works really hard at succeeding...and for the most part it really does. From the explosive first track, Filter and Crystal Method set the bar very high, and for the most part the following tracks, while never fulling living up to "Trip like I Do" still fit the mold and deserve to be listed on the same track listing."Long Hard Road out of Hell" is a great song, dispite the controversy of Sneaker Pimps regreting having to woek with Manson, they still delivered a brilliant song, and the second best on the album."Satan" by Orbital and Kirk Hammet as well as "Tiny Rubberband" by the Butthole Surfers and Moby really stand out as quality tracks. The redone "FOr Whom the Bell Tolls" is appropriate subject matter, but all in all I was not overly impressed with the track."Torn Apart" is brilliant (gotta love Stabbing Westward) and Prodigy's "One man Army" is freaking killer.Closing track by Soul Coughing & Roni Size is decent but I would have closed with Slayer's "No remorse" instead. Here is my HUGE complaint...KoRn's "Kick the P.A." is one of the dumbest songs ever, and with the talent that KoRn has shown they possess this was a waste of a track...They could have done SOOOOOO much better.Incubus and Silverchair are fine and Henry Rollins shows he still has it (never lost it)...so all in all Spawn delivers...they just should have cut KoRn before the CD was released! ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Poor best of for an excellent band
I am a big Stabbing Westward fan, and the two middle albums (Wither Blister Burn + Peel and Darkest Days) are among the best I own. That being said, this collection is basically an attempt by SW's *former* label to cash in on their minor success in 2002 on a new label. It's not the first and won't be the last. Needless to say, I doubt the band had much if any input into the selection of tracks, so this would be my selection (coming in at a little over 77 minutes), noting the first letter of the album in brackets:
    2-0 out of 5 stars Essential?I don't think so..
The idea of a greatest hits cd, besides making money, is to expose a band to a broader audience by 'introducing' them to the band's best music. It also gives someone who can't afford to buy all of a band's cds the chance to buy 1 cd and get a lot of good music. This compilation falls short on all accounts.
