5-0 out of 5 stars Not To Be Dismissed!
Intelligent, pulsing, and thoughtful, the latest effort by A23 (Tom Shear) is simply brilliant!
4-0 out of 5 stars ok for me
This is the not one of the best Assemblage 23 album but still good Since the first time I put it in my CD player, it slowly grew on me, and I listen to on a regular basis. My favorite tracks are Ground and Storm, both musically and lyrically speaking. But the album as a whole is a decent piece of work , and is goodto dance to!

5-0 out of 5 stars The bar has been raised...
It may sound a little fanboy-ish, but this Tom Sheer effort has become the standard by which all other music of this genre should be compared. More than two years after the release of this incredible disc, I still find myself listening to it on a regular basis. This is raw, emotional, powerful, and above all, FUN to listen to. Tom Sheer's career as Assemblage 23 shows a definitive progression... from the growling, angry, disgust found on his first album "Contempt" on up through "Storm", which is far more positive and upbeat. But don't get me wrong... we're not talking about fields of daisies and cute fluffy bunnies; not at all. Still, "Storm" shows a man who has come to terms with himself and his life and knows that he is in a better place now.

5-0 out of 5 stars Should be in your collection
Often compared unfavorably to Paris, Show is a fantastic collection of performances from the Wish tour.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great live show from the best Cure line-up
This is a great live album, with an exceptional sound quality.
5-0 out of 5 stars The editor's review is BS
I think including songs like The Love Cats, or any older Cure, would have ruined the melancholy mood of this concert completely.Obviously he's one of those "you're not a real fan unless you like their old stuff" kinda guys.Well I think the Cure did their best work from Head On the Door through Wish.I mean, their old stuff is awesome too, but in a different way.I've been a long time Cure fan, and Wish is my favorite album, and since this concert took place shortly after Wish was released, you could only expect them to focus mainly on those songs. Wish's lyrics are amazing if you've ever bothered to really read through them, so how can you criticize songs like From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea, Cut or End?They're great songs. In fact, I think the song that could have been cut from here was Friday I'm In Love; I've just never been a fan. Replace that with Apart and it's a perfect concert. The biggest improvement is in A Night Like This---the guitar solo instead of the sax solo makes it a whole new song.If you're like me andWish and Disintegration are your favorite Cure albums, you owe it to yourself to check out this live performance, it rocks. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars One good song
Rematered early CXS album. OK, but nothing too exciting. Marilyn My Bitterness is an excellent tune, but ends up being the only decent one on the CD.

5-0 out of 5 stars definitely $$$ well spent!
I own the original release of this album, which is quite an extraordinary collection of telemetries and melodies, but the sound quality of the old version was not quite as good as I'd wished for. This new version of the album is great, the sound quality is very sharp and clear, and makes the songs all that much more fun to dance to."Walk Away" is all that much more haunting. There are also a few little extras on the CD... a music video, and a flash gallery of ancient band pics! New life has been breathed into an already amazing album! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My first WT cd
Being a huge fan of gothic metal bands such as Elis, Midnattsol, Leaves' Eyes and of course Nightwish, I have always wanted to check out Within Temptation but their cds aren't available in the states at regular prices. Thankfully I received a copy of the band's most recent album "Silent Force" from a friend. I immediately took to the music right away. It definitely goes without saying that Sharon Den Adel has a gorgeous voice. I personally thought her delicate vocals were eerily reminiscent of both Sarah Brightman as well as Liv Kristine of Leaves' Eyes/formerly of Theatre of Tragedy. The music in general is an epic proportion of metal laced with sumptuous goth melodies which often veered off into opera territory at times. I loved all the songs on the cd. All of the songs had a nice balance between the heavy metal guitar riffs and delicate goth melodies.

2-0 out of 5 stars boring
After their great success with "Mother Earth," it seems that Within Temptation is struggling to find a niche in the music world.I loved "Mother Earth" and its fusion of musical genres.I eagerly anticipated the group's next CD.I was disappointed in this newest release. There are no songs that leave any lasting impression to speak of, and the songs tend to sound boring and repetitive after the first 3 cuts. For those of you who loved "Mother Earth," don't bother buying "Silent Force."

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing!
This album is a piece of art that comes to define the term, "musical talent". The singer's voice is incredible and the band is just outstanding! Hearing it from the first time reveals the huge effort spent to setup and mix the vocals, instruments, orchestra, and chorus. The commercial songs "Memories" and "Stand My Ground" are extraordinary, while the songs "Jillian", "Forsaken", and "It's The Fear" are just composed to make a deep notch on the surface of modern music. If you want to learn about classy-modern music, you should hear this album. The keyboardist (Martin Spierenburg), the singer (Sharon Den Adel), and the guitarist (Robert Westerholt) have done an excellent effort in composing the music, especially the keyboardist. I've never thought Gothic Rock would sound that cool! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Collection of B-Sides
From the saturnine appearance of Robert Smith it looks like he's spent the better part of his career wallowing in self pity with very little time to put out a prodigious library of music.Maybe he is depressed but he isn't lazy. His work ethic is clearly shown on this dazzling collection of musical pulchritude.
5-0 out of 5 stars Exhaustive.
An exhaustive overview of pretty much all b-sides and rarities by the Cure during their tenure on Fiction Records (1978-2001), "Join the Dots" is a critical collection for fans.Around five hours of rare Cure music is contained within the four CDs of the set, and while some of the material left out can be annoying (more on that in a minute), this is a superb resource for any of us who try and gather the entire output of a band.
3-0 out of 5 stars Go to Napster and buy the whole thing for $10
I really really love this album. With that said, you must be wondering why I'm giving it 3 stars. Well ... the entire first disc of b-sides is amazing, while the other 3 quickly dive from "ho-hum" to the point where you're scrapping the barrel for good tracks.

1-0 out of 5 stars Let me explain my rating...
before i verbally dessimate this album, i would like to state that i thuroughly enjoyed Otep's first album "Sevas Tra." however, i feel that losing a couple of band members and changing the music style in the way they did compromised the message front-lady Otep established in the band's breakthrough to mainstream ears. instead of praising creativity and freedom, the lyrical content is spent on assaulting the war (which i am also anti-war). i miss the groove heavy days that made Otep original. but if you like your music relentless, heavy and brutal (which i do) AND political, this is for you. i just never thought politics was artistic. art could not save this album for me.

4-0 out of 5 stars Heaven has smiled upon me!
I have always been a huge music fan, growing up in the era of grunge and power-metal, I was lucky to escape the devistation of the 80's.I have followed the path of music for all my years and not many bands capture my attention on the first listen, Not many at all.To get to my point, music has a new face, behold Otep! With wicked searing vocals and a powerful message of anarchy - Otep brings in the new age of music and a new style that is sure to grab you by the balls and not let go!
1-0 out of 5 stars jihad means terrorism aimed at america.
i heard this album and its not all that.its just some psycho chick screaming about hating america and suicide bombings and stuff.from the first track to the last, the ep is total and complete terrorist propaganda.i dont see why anyone would want to own an album thats content is for the bad guys and anti-american.i guess it just goes to show the sad state america is in when fans are more concerned with how good a pmsing chick can scream out her hate ridden poetry than with keeping the world free from terror.to all you who like this album,i hope the next anthrax breakout starts at your house. ... This is a masterful work of noise sculpture; ominously appealing, it draws the listener into a musical world of colorful horror. Musician/programmers Cevin Key and Dwayne Goettel craft fascinating sound collages over which vocalist Nivek Ogre roars, snarls, and whispers his inimitable free-flowing narcotic imagery. Lyrical themes revolve around pollution and destruction of both the earth and the psyche. Key and Goettel display their characteristic talent for creating beautifully wicked and twisted soundscapes, seemingly drawing from any conceivable device capable of creating noise. "Convulsion" and "Tormentor" are of particular note for their intricate and imaginative design. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Metallic Hell
Skinny Puppy are practically legends in the "Industrial" music genre along with Ministry. And when it comes down to a pure definition of "Industrial music," I always tend to think of Skinny Puppy as fitting that mold. Of course, Skinny Puppy has always had more of a sense for the "theatrical" than most other Industrial acts, which in return spawned the Marilyn Manson's of today. If you don't believe me, then check out Marilyn's stilts the next time you are at one of his shows. Musically, Skinny Puppy differs from any other Industrial band I have ever heard. And yeah, they use a lot of synths and drum machines, but it's the way that they use them that makes them unique and experimental. The soundscapes on this record are dark and metallic. The theme of this record revolves around drug addiction, and the songs on this record take you within the deepest, darkest depths of an addict's tortured psyche. Orge has a very demonic sounding voice, yet it is also very mechanical and there is even a hint of vulnerability underneath the surface. This is pretty brutal music. It is very different from the almost electro Goth sounding new wave music that Industrial is known for today. The lyrics seem like they were written during a drug induced haze, so they are really long, stream of consciousness type of rants. It adds to the schizophrenic effect of the music nicely.
5-0 out of 5 stars Non Music For Abnormal Freaks
I never thought noise could sound so good. This is'nt music in the normal sense of the word. This is more like a colossal collage of mangled sounds. Not very many people are fit for this type of experiance. If you are one of the people who like listeng to radio, or if you think that anybody on "American Idol" is a artist than you should forget you ever heard about Skinny Puppy. On the other hand if you have ever thought that the world would be better if you were aborted then this might be for you. The first Skinny Puppy cd I bought was the remission EP. That was several years ago. I dont know if I ever even listened to the whole thing before I got rid of it. I got into other industrial music like Front Line Assembaly, KMFDM, and Velvet Acid Christ. Finally I decided to give the Puppy another chance. I talked to some Puppy fan at a music store and he suggested that I start with something other than Too Dark Park. So I bought Mind instead. I really didnt think it was all that special for a while. Finally it sunk in and I thought that I should try Too Dark Park. I am so glad that I did. I have probably listened to it at least twice a day for the last 3 months. I have come to the conclusion that it is the best Industrial cd ever made. Before I heard it I thought that Caustic Grip was the best Industrial cd ever. It still is awsome, but Too Dark, Last Rights, and ViVisectVI have already passed it up in my opinion. According to other reviews people usually say that you sould start with the more accessible puppy cd's like The Process, and The Greater Wrong. I really thinkthat is wrong. I think you should start with Too Dark Park or Last Righs first. Sure it is harder to listen to, but why not start with the best. The lighter stuff will just give you a wrong impression of what the puppy is about.

Trent Reznor has always been a one-trick-pony, but it's a damn good trick: sunny melodies filtered through ferocious electronics. 4-0 out of 5 stars Coming from a person who never heard of NIN until With Teeth.
On my usual trip to Borders, I usually pick up a few comics (usually in subsequent volumes) and a CD (depending on how much I can afford).Well, my decision was either between Metallica's "Ride the Lightning" or Nine Inch Nails' "With Teeth"; it was almost time to leave the store and I was deciding over the two albums until I'd come to a conclusion where I'd buy "With Teeth, so I purchased it (the UK version, for some odd reason, they didn't carry the US version, lucky for me, this version didn't have an "EXPLICIT CONTENT" sticker, so I wouldn't get slapped on the wrist for buying it)I sat down at home popped the CD into the CD player and sat playing my PS2, really not noticing anything. Two days later, in fact, I had to leave on a family trip by car (Northeast Ohio to Ocean City takes 10 hrs minimum), so I took only two CDs (this is when my music taste was quite "premature", so I didn't have what you would consider a CD collection--the albums were With Teeth and typically, American Idiot, an album that EVERY AMERICAN 12 YEAR OLD OWNS) and sat in the car for 10 hours listening to ONLY With Teeth. Why?Being 12 years old, obviously I wasn't able to take in the tracks beside "Hand that Feeds"--taking all of that time listening, I came up with ONLY 5 tracks that I liked--"Hand that Feeds", "You Know What You Are", "The Collector", "Getting Smaller" and I'd occasionally listen to "Home" (which was a B-side to HtF exclusively on the UK version). The rest of the tracks were what I considered "boring"--maybe I was too young to understand the rest, I was too busy watching MTV to even bother with picking up my CD player and listening to With Teeth again.
5-0 out of 5 stars NIN - With Teeth - Trent Reznor Always Delivers
I have been a Nine inch Nails fan since the very beginning. I can honestly say, that I am never disappointed. I look forward to every release, knowing that it is going to be another powerful installment in the ever changing world of Nine Inch Nails. No matter what the current state of mind, Trent Reznor makes every release powerful and interesting and you can always be sure that he will never sell out, ever. Something most artists, inevitably do at some point. If you purchase a NIN cd, one thing is always certain, it is never going to be some piece of garbage that was thrown together, just to turn out a cd. It is always going to be something Trent Reznor poured his heart and soul into, and is most likely, very proud of. There will always be songs you like more than others. If you happen upon a song you don't particularly care for, give it time, let it soak in, it may be becuase you just don't "get it" at that given time. And if you find that you still don't like it after it has thoroughly soaked in, then press fast forward ! But please, don't go onto Amazon.com, The Spiral or other fan sites, and try to recruit others for your pathetic bashfest.Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and, for that matter, to voice it. But, I have never seen a fan base that has such a large number of people who like to whine, cry, and act like Nine Inch Nails owes them something. Music is a form of art. If you don't like the art you are looking at, don't look at it. If you don't like the art you are listening to, don't listen to it, and move on. As for "With Teeth", it ROCKS !!! Thank you Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails !! As always, I'll be patiently awaiting your next release. See you on tour !!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Slighlty dark, edgy, pleasing, hot....
This album is one of the rare few that has lived up to my expectations. I've been diving head on into psychedelically inclined music for the last few years now; starting off with Infected Mushroom, Astral Projection, Juno Reactor, Hallucinogen, etc...and this album lives up to the clean style I've come to expect from excellent psychedelic music, but has a flavor very much still its own.
5-0 out of 5 stars Top-notch dark electronic
I really took a gamble with this album, I'm a fan of delirium, frontline assembly, synesthesia and most of the other Leeb projects but I had never heard of noise unit.I am very relieved that this is easily one of the best electronic albums I've ever heard.
2-0 out of 5 stars Snooze Unit
Ah the illustrious genre of electronica, where semi-anonymous lifetime knob-twiddlers like Bill Leeb and Chris Peterson can be hailed as groundbreakers, just because they know how to sequence slightly eccentric beats and scare some spooky new noises out of synthesizers. Apparently Noise Unit are noteworthy for a mixture of house, industrial, ambient, trance, jungle, and who knows how many other vaguely differentiated styles, but they all end up sounding the same when they're sent through enough processors, as they are here. Add to that the anemic, soulless, and completely unnecessary attempts at vocals, and the even more semi-anonymous so-called guest stars whose contributions you'd have to be a programmer to even notice, and you have the modern electronica approach of Noise Unit. Granted, there is a somewhat haunting aspect to the Noise Unit sound, with good cases being found in "Illicit Dreams" and "Tighten Up." But this album's only glimmer of near-personality is a pretty good groove in "Liberation," which then is promptly ruined by a pathetic attempt at rapping. Most of the rest of the album features snooze-inducing exercises in spookiness that drift off into a cloudy haze, the most telling examples of this being "Seclusion" and "Paranoid." And this album is docked one additional star thanks to the gratuitous sexploitation of the artwork. [~doomsdayer520~] ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Rob Zombie at his best
I purchased the CD on a whim, likely the movie and rob zombie. But this cd surpasses all of the other soundtracks to movies. Rob Zombie really out do's himself with creepy lyrics and ghostly noises. The short movie quotes in between a few of the songs, also added charcter. It also includes a Ramones track, " Now I wanna sniff some glue," which flowed well with the metal tone of Rob Zombie. All in all, I listen to this CD all the time and enjoy it more than I ever thought I would. A great buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars With a vibe & style you can't hide from for long.
Mr. Zombie, as usual, hints on psychotic perfection with this great release. Because he delivers such great projects, he has and will remain my favorite artist. I'm looking forward to what he has to offer next.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Way Soundtracks Should Be...
One of the best horror flicks in recent memory led to one of the best soundtracks. Rob Zombie himself actually performs 4 of the songs on this soundtrack, which also features sound clips from the film, and let me say that the songs he performs are some of the best songs he's done in his entire career. One of the standout tracks on this soundtrack is the Slim Whitman version of "I Remember You." If you saw the film, the song is played during a rather memorable death sequence. The Ramones "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue" is one here, and so Is Buck Owens! I'm no expert but when are you ever gonna find Buck Owens, The Ramones, and Slim Whitman on the same album ever again? Buy this one fellas. Something for everyone, not just Rob fanatics and gorehounds.

Siouxsie & the Banshees are quite possibly the only first-generation "punk" band to last long enough to have hit collections that chronicle three decades. Though initially inspired by the Sex Pistols, the Banshees were always more about arty romanticism than street aggression. This second collection of hits begins in 1982, after their first flash of fame and creativity had concluded. These tunes then represent the Banshees' attempt at adapting to the difficult musical landscape of the 1980s. While they were capable of powerfully catchy tunes of their own ("Cities in Dust" off Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A great collection
Siouxsie and the Banshees were truly a great band. In fact, they are my favorite band of all time. This magnificent collection shows how great they truly were by showing their most popular singles, including their biggest hit here in the U.S., "Kiss Them For Me". Here are my top 5 favorite Banshees songs of all time, in order from 5-1.
5-0 out of 5 stars One of my most influential albums of all time
Of all the albums, cassettes, compact discs that I have owned and loved over the years, one of my top five personal favorite cds of all time is Siouxsie & The Banshees' "Twice Upon a Time: the Singles". I was a freshman in college when I discovered Siouxsie & The Banshees over a decade ago. This was my earliest exposure to goth music. Little did I know was just how big of an impact the tape version of this greatest hits collection would have on me. I was having a horrible time during my freshman year in college. I felt like an outcast and Siouxsie's music came at the perfect time. I was drawn in by the melancholy lyrics and evocative music. I now own this collection on cd and the music still sounds fresh to me. No matter how many times I have listened to it, I still love "Cities in Dust", my favorite Siouxsie song of all time. Gotta love the band's interpretation of The Beatles' "Dear Prudence". All of the songs on the cd is timeless. The production on the cd could use a remastering job but other than that, I love this cd. It is a great representation of the band during the '80s.

4-0 out of 5 stars good compilation of material 1982 and on
I personally think they hit their peak with Kaleidoscope and Juju.A newcomer should first get Once Upon a Time, then go for The Scream, Kaleidoscope, and Juju. Those albums are great.Their later albums all had good stuff (OK, I don't know the last couple - the last one I have is Tinderbox), but they are spotty.A Kiss in the Dreamhouse is very good, but it's out of print!!!!MOST (not all of course) of the best songs from this period are on this CD.Yes, there are omissions, but that's how compilations are! This also has a couple of non-album singles (as does Once Upon a Time). ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Worth Checking Out: An Opinion from a Non-Fan
    About the Band:
5-0 out of 5 stars talented synth
This is good synth music with some substance. Alot of the new synth is awful euro dance crap. This is not this is up there with Iris, depeche, omd, de/vision.

5-0 out of 5 stars Meaningful
I chanced upon this Album in Iraq under some unusual circumstances. I had first heard of Wolfsheim in 1996, just before ending my first stint in the Army in Germany. I loved the then recently released album Traumende Affen (Dreaming Apes), especially the song Closer Still, which had lyrics that fit perfectly a situation I was in as a shy guy with a crush on an unusually beautiful PFC from another unit. I would listen to Wolfsheim occasionally until losing my entire CD collection when I got married and had to leave Germany on short notice. I never thought much about them again until, once again in the Army, I found myself in the Iraqi desert. Desperate to vanquish boredom and armed with a new iPod, I became a shameless pirate, getting MP3 versions of Wolfsheim's latest album, Casting Shadows, and 17 unidentified tracks that a friend had just 'gotten' somewhere. The first 11 of those tracks had an unusual character, distinct from the last 5. A number of the songs were positively amazing, and I would listen to them much more than songs from Casting Shadows (though that album is quite a good record also). I thought that I remembered a number of the tracks from the album I once had in 1996. (I had forgotten the title of the album, by the way.) So I sought out to find out where those tracks came from, and bought No Happy View, their 1992 album. None of the unknown songs that I thought were so great were on it. It had some good songs, but overall it wasn't nearly as good as Casting Shadows or these mystery tracks. An average synth album. Dismayed, I ordered Pop Killer (paying import prices), hoping that it wold have some of the songs on it. It still has not come in. Recently, I moved to another post and came upon the technology to get on the Apple Music Store. I downloaded Dreaming Apes and learned that this was the album I had in 1996, and that indeed it was wonderful, but I was wrong in my thinking that some of the unknown songs were on it. Completely frustrated, I just went ahead and got Spectators from Apple. To my surprise, the 11 songs that were so great were the entire Spectators album. I did not need to get the album from Apple. But now I know the names of the tracks and the album info.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not so Jack Off Jill
I'm only giving this 5 stars because the actual recordings are priceless. However I'm telling you now. DO NOT BUY THIS ALBUM
5-0 out of 5 stars Raw Teenage Agression
I recommend this CD for any one who loves the rawest, most aggressive riot grrrl acts such as Babes In Toyland and Hole (circa their debut album Pretty On The Inside) and Jack Off Jill's first album Sexless Demons And Scars.

5-0 out of 5 stars KMFDM is stronger than never ever before!
This is a great time to be a KMFDM fan. Not only are they releasing awesome new music in the form of Hau Ruck and the Ruck Zuck EP, they are releasing remastered versions of their classic back catalog. One thing I always disliked about old KMFDM was the sound level on their discs was always so long. Not anymore! Everything about this package is great. Old and new fans alike owe it to themselves to pick this up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic KMFDM
If your new to KMFDM you might be suprised or shocked at how different they sounded in the old days.It might even take some getting used to.Don't let that scare you.It is an awsome album with some of KMFDM's "classic" songs like "no meat not man" and "don't blow your top", or at least thats my opinion. If your a long time KMFDM fan this purchase is a no brainer, if your new give it a shot, you probably won't regret it. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Cheesy, corny Gothic-wanna be
Midnight Syndicate wants to be a lot, I guess. It wants to be dark and scary, but they're more like a graphic vampie novel, you can admire the technique but you don't really get involved. The images they produce remain a bit plastic, static, with an overdose of well-known themes.
5-0 out of 5 stars Very Nice and Creepy just like I like it!!Goth music at its best
Reminds me of the music in the movie Interview with the Vampire, creepy, scary, GREAT, what any goth chic like me needs!!

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this type of music, very gothic and peaceful

5-0 out of 5 stars Stabbing Westward in all there industrial hard rock glory!!!
The first is always the best, well... in this case it is. Stabbing Westward is one my favorite rock bands, its to bad they broke up, but this album in my opinion is their best album. Its much more heavy in terms of industrial rock than the other four albums they did and when you compare it to their last album the band does not even sound same. Chris halls voice is a lot different in this album then the other three albums they did(especially the last album, althought chris's voice is slighly similar between UNGOD and Wither Blister & Peel) My favorite songs in order are THROW, UNGOD, NOTHING, CAN'T HAPPEN HERE, LIES, CONTROL, ACF, LOST and whatever rest tracks that are left are good too. My second favorite Stabbing Westward album is Wither Blister Burn & Peel, then Darkest Days and then their self titled album which i didnt really like, except a couple of tracks.

3-0 out of 5 stars For Comparative Purposes
Listen to this album and Filter's SHORT BUS back to back and hear the similarities.Particularly on "Hey Man, Nice Shot" and "Ungod."You see, Stabbing Westward started with a guitarist, I forget his name, who would leave after UNGOD and join Filter just in time for SHORT BUS.It appears he took his riffs with him.

5-0 out of 5 stars If this is watered down Nine Inch Nails,
then watered down NIN is great.
